Mounted High If you look at the Maitrayee Buddha from afar, specially in an aerial shot it will seem like someone sitting over a plateaued throne overlooking a valley amidst mountain steps That's actually this statue of world peace does. It protects and forlorn diskit village caught in cross-border war and terrorism. Sometimes, a monument can do a much more than just being an object of wonder. The high point in life and in traveling is to live footprints. Footprints to show your imprint, your being - you might ask. Well, certainly not. Footprints for others to follow? In all certainty definitely not. Footprints to be in the ecosystem Footprints to continue the chain. As Tolstoy says we live by the kindness of strangers. Without these strangers you can't travel in life. Without them you can't survive and certainly without them you can't defend yourself. This photograph by my father taken in the magnetic hill of Ladakh reminds me of that and my practice of leaving an artwork, a note for strangers in public places. Do leave your footprints. Not to influence people but to continue the chain and be in it.
