Crisis on Infinite Earth's, Lena's POV

She reaches for that warmth now, digging deep inside her mind for the memory of it. But to her shock, the hand she imagines reaching for her in the final hour doesn't belong to her mother.

It belongs to Kara.

Surprise is the last thing Lena feels before she's rendered into nothing.

i've been rereading a lot of old supergirl comics lately, so i thought i'd make a post with some pre-crisis recommendations for kara <3

THE GIRL WITH THE SEE-THROUGH MIND!

the superman family #168 kara and lena attempt to help a young empath as she suddenly feels compelled to kill herself. one of my fav issues for lena and one of the best storylines from kara's student advisor era. i also really love the relationship kara has with lena, both as linda danvers and as supergirl.

THE BRIMSTONE CONNECTION

the brave and the bold #160 kara's foster father goes missing so she teams up with batman to track him down. i think kara and bruce have a fun dynamic together and i really like how she's characterized here. i do think that this issue kind of downplays how intelligent kara is in order to uplift bruce's detective skills, but regardless i think its a fun team-up.

THE SUPERGIRL GANG

adventure comics #381 kara goes undercover at an all-girls crime fighting school to investigate a string of robberies committed unknowingly by the students. i really like how this issue focuses a bit on kara's investigative abilities and the things she can do better as linda danvers rather than as supergirl. also babs makes an appearance in this story (rise pre-crisis karababs warriors) <3

THE BATTLE FOR SURVIVAL!

adventure comics #412 kara is chosen to fight in a ceremonial battle by a distant planet's ruler. this issue is SO fun and showcases kara's strength so well. it also features art from art saaf who is one of my favorite artists for pre-crisis kara :)

THE ATTACK OF THE ANNIHILATOR!

detective comics #508-510 kara flies to gotham and helps barbara gordon defeat a crazed and mutated scientist who calls himself the annihilator. unfortunately this is the only multi-issue arc kara and babs have together during pre-crisis (not counting crisis on infinite earths i guess), but i do really enjoy this story (again, rise pre-crisis karababs warriors).

A HEAD-FULL OF SNAKES!

supergirl vol 1 #8 after portraying medusa in a play, a curse is placed on kara that turns her hair into snakes and anyone she looks at into stone. another really fun story :) this issue is definitely one of the best from supergirl vol 1.

CRYPT OF THE FROZEN GRAVES

adventure comics #424 kara attempts to uncover the crimes of the san francisco syndicate by gathering information from a former criminal informer. the art in this issue is SO pretty and i really love how kara is characterized here <3 also features the last appearance of pre-crisis nasty luthor </3

THE VISITORS FROM THE VOID

the superman family #184-186 when fred danvers mysteriously disappears after accepting a secret government job, edna danvers seeks out kara for help in finding him. i really love this storyline for how it develops the relationship between kara and her foster parents, and it's a great showcase of kara's anger and how protective she can be over the people she loves.

CELEBRATION!

supergirl vol 2 #20 clark asks kara to meet him at midvale for a surprise—but before she can do that, kara must battle the parasite. kara's 25th anniversary issue :) you can also read action comics #555 before this if you'd like, it takes place concurrently with this issue but shows clark's pov.

No, seriously. Crisis On Infinite Earths is way too complex. Or at least part 1 is. I'm totally lost on everything Arrow and The Flash, given that I've stopped watching respectively mid season 5 and mid season 3. But there are so many characters to follow, so many different plotlines...

I mean, yes, I'm going to watch all the parts, but I'm still going to nitpick.

Also, that's a whole planet that just got erased. Sorry, I feel more gutted about that than about Ollie, who the whole fandom knew was going to die for some years now. But jesus h roosevelt, a whole planet, whole universes?? That's the thing from my darkest nightmares.

I think the whole point is that SG writers or rather producers have no idea how to write the show or don’t have a plan or are just… really BAD at what thye are doing.

I always try to sort of cater my predictions to their skills. And yeah, they are not great. But Iook to pairings like Brainia and Dansen, pairings they apprently WANT to seem healthy and wholesome. And the writing there is still flawed and frustrating. But I think it still tells us something about how they view relationships. 

Brainia and Dansen give me the vibe is that the writers value people supporting each other and having shared values. Compared to Kreisberg who was more about “I’m attracted to this person even though we have conflicts (and we later find out we have more in common or even start learning something new from them)”. The current writers are more about “yes we have problems and secrets, but we still come together and support each other because ultimately we care about each other and share the same values”. 

Which is why to me Andrea and Lena feel like something that would make sense to these writers, because both are more morally “grey”.

I also think the writers just treat 5A as a playground that doesn’t matter. They will just never address it. Hoping for it is just a waste of time to me at this point. If feels like the writers look at it as “we knew crisis was coming, so we finally could let Lena do all kinds of nutty shit without having to own up for it”. 

So I think for the rest of it, they look at it as Lena and Andrea being more even, where yes Andrea screwed Lena over and Lena did so in turn. They maybe both were trying to use each other and they are both characters to play dirty in business so they won’t hold it against each other that much in that way, potentially, presumably. 

IF the writers are serious about writing a deeper bond between Andrea and Lena, so she is believable as Lena’s main sidekick or companion when the show ends then I would expect it to work more along the lines of how Dansen and Brania work (like Brainy being attentive of Nia’s insecurities in the prom episode or the Myxy episode, or Alex being attentive about Kelly’s desire to be Guardian and Kelly being attentive about Alex’s desire to adopt, heck even how Karamel were kind of attentive of each other’s feelings in 3B). Them supporting each other and being considerate of each other in a more personal way rather than in a generic Kara and Kelly are nice and empathetic with everyone kind of way.

 Andrea helping Lena develop her magic could be that, them hunting Lex together could be that, them grieving William together could be that, Lena helping Actrata make inroads with the Superfriends could be that. I was gonna joke that Lena’s character seems kind of built around being inattentive of the feelings of others (though even though I don’t like her there are some things were you can argue traces of it, she was for example being protective of Sam and James in her own way even if it there were also elements of being misguided about it), so it’s going to be interesting how they are going to tackle that aspect. What I always say, whether Lena is going to be a better friend to Andrea than she was to Kara. Or if it’s just going to be the same with Andrea making her life supporting Lena’s stories and the only difference is that well at least she isn’t a much tortured borderline angelic super heroine, but kind of a messy jerk herself at least to others. 

That does not mean that even if the writers do that that they will ever be the kind of relationship you like or can respect, let alone go shipper crazy for. Because the writers and you just have completely different values of what makes an interesting or good story or ship. 

I’m just saying if the writers wanted to give Lena a good and healthy friendship to hold her up when the show is over, a relationship that the write according to their own values of what makes a good relationship this is how I would expect them to go about it 

So when I try to predict whether this is a storyline the writers plan to do, these are the signs I will look for.  (speaking of similarities, Brainia and Dansen (+3B Karamel) also all share scenes of one partner helping the other hone their skills and powers, that’s why it is so interesting to me whether Andrea will be with Lena in 13 or not, her being the one Lena talks to in her finding her powers episode is a good first step, but only the episodes after that will show whether they will develop it along those line or if that won’t kick in till later and some story with William, maybe about Lex).

The other thing are those shared values, because I think they kind of feed into the concept of how you can be yourself around the other person and you don’t have to censor yourself or change. There have been hints this season that Lena’s value system might still be subtly different from the Superfriends. Maybe the point isn’t going to be that she is finally going to be a repentant good person, she can keep her morality, she’s just going to be with a person (Andrea) who doesn’t have as much of a problem with it. 

(which of course sounds scary as fuck for anybody who is a Lena disliker, but I think from the writers POV we are supposed to buy that in the end Lena’s vaguely positive interests will win out in the end. 

It’s the diference between disliking Lena and thinking she would have to earn a happy and healthy relationship first and maybe the writers taking more the stance that they like Lena the way she is and her happy end is going to be with a person who is totally on board with her being the way she is, digging both her darker, more ruthless side and also understanding her angsty side)

SuperCat was one of the most popular ships in season one and continues to be popular. The chemistry between both Kara and Cat and Kara and Lena is undeniable and while Cat and Lena never met in canon, this has never stopped anyone from shipping them in a polyamorous relationship with Kara. While not hugely popular, there is a decent number of fics on AO3.

Cat/Lena is a rarepair but in some of the polyamorous stories Cat and Lena are in a relationship first.

With Love's Light Wings is an AU set post season 2 in which Cat returns to National City.  Between Two Mountains is set around season 5 (and diverges from canon then) and in this story Lena left National City, heartbroken because of Kara’s betrayal. Instead of the stupid things she did in canon, she does something much more sensible: she escapes to her ski resort.

Lena runs off to her Metropolis ski resort to put Kara out of her mind. Across the globe, Cat's grueling schedule is no longer working to distract her from where she really wants to be, and as luck would have it, Carter has found the perfect vacation spot in Metropolis. But he needs a babysitter while on the slopes. Since Kara's powers are fritzing while she nurses her own despair, a vacation away from the demands of National City would be just the thing.

 This story starts with a very hurt Lena and a fascinating look back on Cat and Kara's past, told from Cat's perspective. Cat and Lena meet for the first time and start an affair (or more?) before Kara can start her holiday.

I enjoyed this wonderful, very well written story. It is funny, witty, smutty and pretty much angst free. I especially loved Cat and Lena’s banter.

Lena laughed and leaned back in her seat. “I seem to recall it saying something about not destroying your city, your hero, and your assistant. I don’t really remember much of a ‘thank you,’ however.”

Explicit; ESP!Lena (Extrasensory perception); post Season 2 AU

Three women, each with their own sets of walls, find that they need each other to bring them down. Set about two years on from current S2 canon, Kara is a more seasoned reporter, more comfortable and mature. Her friendship with Lena Luthor has long teetered on the edge of becoming something more, but her lingering hangup on Cat Grant has kept it from even starting.

Lena Luthor is a lonely woman with ESP that she developed as a teenager after an accident in her brother's lab. The irony is bitter; she's subjected to everyone's feelings, like it or not, yet struggles to ever share her own. Cat Grant returns to National City to resume her role at CatCo, despite her own unresolved feelings for Kara, and things become complicated for all three of them as they realize that what they need is something different from what they ever thought or expected.

 This is an AU, although the premise of the story only really diverges from canon of Season 1 and early season 2 in Lena's powers and that Lena and Cat meet. After that, it obviously diverges more from canon.

I am always a bit skeptical when Lena gets (super)powers in a fic, but my concerns were unfounded. This is a great and beautifully written story.

Cat looked a little sad at that.  “So, you do love her, then.”

What is really different in this story, is that Cat and Lena are together, have been married for years. I love their interaction. And their jealously and protectiveness for Kara. Cat and Lena are drawn to Kara, but they are afraid to start anything.

There is smut in the last chapters, but considering the tags, this story is really not that kinky. I enjoyed this well written story.

“Don’t tell me you fired that young blonde one, Cat, she was cute. Do you know she blushed the most delightful shade of red when I complimented her cardigan the last time you sent her to my office?”

I have written about this story before, but I have expanded on my notes here.

Cat cheats on Kara with Lena (who is in a relationship with Veronica). Things get messy and complicated.

None of these are really my favorite ships and this is not something I knew I wanted, but I am mesmerized by this story. It is beautiful and so well written. It is told from Cats and Lena’s POV.

If you are looking for angst free, fluffy, and the usual Supergirl pairings, then this fic is not for you. But if you are open for an unexpected, bittersweet tour de force with a slightly unconventional happy ending, then definitely give this one a try.

Kara is asexual in this story, but while she has a role in this story, she is not the main protagonist. This is also not a happy story and while there is hope and some new beginnings, this is mostly a story about infidelity and the end of relationships.

With an ill-timed remark in a White House meeting, Kara makes an impression on Cat, who isn't about to let being President stop her pursuing the first woman in years to intrigue her. Can they overcome their political conflict to get closer?

While it is (also) a story about Kara and Cat falling in love, it is probably more a fic about two people overcoming the first big crisis of their relationship.

While the point of view switches between Kara and Cat, I feel this is more a Cat than a Kara story, that Cat is the main protagonist.

While strictly speaking you don't need to know anything about the Supergirl TV show to enjoy this story you will probably enjoy it more if you do know it - in particular Season 1. I liked that many characters are featured and have small supporting roles: Hank, Alex, Winn, James (even Mon-El has a few scenes and gets what he deserves ;-) and especially Lena, Lucy, Astra and Sam - they are all written lovingly and their roles in the story nicely fit with their characters.

It is very well written and perfectly edited and very fast paced. I think it is mostly due to the quality of the writing that I liked this story a lot, even though I am not the biggest SuperCat shipper.

Notes:

This story has no relation to the short lived TV show of the same name (2005, with Gena Davies) that I actually enjoyed.

That's how it began.

Only it's not Kara who steps out on the red carpet, but Supergirl. As they continue with the public deception, chaos erupts around them: battles fought, lives lost, enemies old and new. Somewhere in there Kara and Cat have to deal with what happens when pretend feelings become all too real, along with the additional complications from Superman and both of the sisters Lane.

Ultimately, Kara has to find a way to make her ever-changing life workable. Can she do that while keeping Cat, her secret identity, and her family intact?

 I am usually not that much into SuperCat but this story’s summery caught my eye. The premise is interesting, the power dynamics is quite intriguing and there is hot sex. The story goes far beyond the typical fake dating trope and is mostly about Kara. I was fascinated by her development, especially in the aspect of Kara’s vs Supergirl’s identity. This story drives this into a direction that is pretty uncommon in fics.

SYNOPSIS

The year is 1963 and as far as the public knows the Cold War is simmering down.

The Cuban Missile Crisis was the peak of nuclear tension between the Americans and the Soviets, and the apocalyptic clock was at an all time high. Negotiations were made and a relative peace was found between Kennedy and Kruschev. But behind closed doors, not everyone is happy with the agreements made. Chatter has picked up that a trio of enthusiasts are doing what Kruschev didn’t. The mastermind and benefactor, known only as Vronsky, has criticized the former general secretary for weakness and very un-russian tactics. 

Wealthy beyond measure, and the the inheritor of a trove of Russian historical artifacts, including many treasures from the Romanov dynasty, Vronsky has something that everybody wants, whether it be money, artifacts, or incriminating photos. After years lying in wait for the right moment to employ all of their ammunition, the resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis was the other shoe dropping. They are out for war now, they just need an expert to build them the weapons for the new age.  

The U.N. has assembled a team of talented spies to investigate, under the mission codename: CODA. They need to know who Vronsky is, where the missiles are being made, where they will be placed upon completion, whether or not the government of the Soviet Union knows of this private operation, and how to stop World War III.

It was getting hard to keep track of the names. When she first started this vocation she thought that the names would be like shoes: something she could pick out to match the weather or occasion. Now it felt like a test, and she was frantically flipping through flashcards as the timer ran down. 

Lena Marks. That was it. They kept calling her that name, but they pronounced it like ‘Lee-na’ instead of ‘Len-uh’ like she’d heard it in her head when she’d first written her file. She wouldn’t bother to correct them. It wasn’t as if there was really a right way to say the wrong name.

Well I am bored and can’t get back to sleep. So it’s time for a supergirl s5 rant no one asked for.

Now every season has its issues and there were some outside “issues” this season (COVID-19 and Melissa being pregnant) so I will keep that in mind.

That being said.

This season had problems from the word jump. This was for a few reasons.

1- The plot was all over the place

And I don’t mean, ‘oh there was not enough of [blank character] so it was bad.’ No, I mean it was literally jumping between to many elements. Like what was this season about really?

Was it about a new tech environment taking over people’s lives? Was it about an ancient occult power coming out of the shadows to “take” the earth? Was it about adjusting to a post crisis world? Was it about the Luther siblings joining forces to achieve common goal and brainy is a secret inside man?

Now I understand that most tv shows have multiple plot points to follow that’s normal and expected. However, you need to have them meet up in away that is rewarding to the viewer and makes sense for the story that you are trying to tell. And there is an old writing trick called “one step at a time” Basically it boils down to, The audience will only believe one thing at a time.

Eg. You tell the audience this character can only do something in a certain way, (like the sups and the yellow sun,) but then you say that actually never mind this is another way to do it,(like Kara can keep her speed and only her speed under a red sun). This is bad writing as there is no set up or pay off and you cheated your audience by just changing the rules you made for no reason. (Think that kid on the playground that does that “unbeatable force field” thing in a game of tag.)

This can also apply to story concepts this is called a “conflicting narrative” in season 5 this apples to leviathan.

At the start of the season (ep 1 -8) we are told that they are ancient and magical based villains, all good. 

and their big plan is to therefor, of course  *checks notes* to use advice sci fi tech to achieve their goals and do something? with the people inside, yeah that makes sense what else would they use? Magic? that thing the super family is vulnerable to? Nah.....sarcastic’s aside, if you establish one thing you can’t turn in round with no explanation. 

They actually have a good example of this concept working in this season, in ep 10 with Brainy and his changing physical appearance. 

It was set up in the ep early on that our brainy was ‘off’ compared to the other Brainy’s, we get an explanation in the bar scene with the Rath siblings and then it is built upon with a Kara and Brainy scene, then after a build up and a reason (a character based one I might add) it is then and only then that it gets revealed and guess what.... that is hands down the best ep of the season. 

I literally have re-watched that ep so many times cause it’s that good. It is great self contained episodes and builds on per established character moments and plot points (brainy’s character inconsistency and the crisis plot aftermath) it’s the gold standard of what I’m talking about.

it sets up and pays off what it is trying to do and give character base reason for the story. 

But the season as a whole don’t do this effectively because 

2- They focus on making the plot the compliment characters, and not the characters complimenting the plot.   

the blanket term for this is, this is called “build up and release” this is used to drag out tension effectively. there are 2 ways to do this but basically 

1- answer one thing, then that answer leads to another question     

2- give partial answers through out a space of time, to keep attention but not make it the only focus of any given moment.

but anyway,

season 5 has this issue where they bring up a point then either don’t carry it through or don’t ‘step it out’ in a way that leads well to the story.

remember what i said about accepting one thing at a time? now let me ask.

If Leviathan is secret why did they reveal themselves now?

I don’t know and guess what, I don’t care, because the show didn’t care either. they never set up why they came out of the shadows or why that even mattered? so why would anyone care outside of “season’s bad guys”. 

you know what this season did care about the Luther siblings. there is nothing wrong with that per say, I just don’t see why they needed Leviathan if they didn’t actually want to develop them in anyway. If the post crisis season was just about taking down the Luther’s then fine nothing wrong with that.

but here is why they NEEDED the Leviathan ‘plot’ (and i use that loosely) is that they needed it to justify Lena working with Lex and not have her come off as “too evil” that way she can say

“i’m only working with you because I want to get rid of Leviathan” 

instead of 

“i’m working with you because i have the same motives as you”

which would not play well in her “redemption” (and i use that term even looser) they kept an aspect to the story purely to complaint a character they wanted a particular outcome, so they kept a plot element around regardless of how well it actually worked with the story.    

and then there’s the bitch himself LEX (John did a great job tho tbh)

he is the biggest example of ‘plot fitting character’, Lex didn’t fail ONCE the whole season, no problems or surprises and it was “oh so easy for him” like that is just frustrating for everyone, i’m not saying “the hero’s should win all the time” No, but the villains need to earn their wins to. here is why that is an issue if you make it to easy.  

1- the audience wants to see every character have their problems with achieving their goals and how they go about solving the problems as it is and hear me out...entertaining   

2-  when a character always has things “go to plan” it feels super forced, the Human error, is built into us (the audience) as people, so to see it not come into play at all, at any point, feels fake as we all know life don’t work that way for anyone. especially if there are people actively trying to stop you. 

overall you shouldn’t force a plot to fit a character, you should write a character to fit the plot their in (or in other words have them adapted to new situations they don’t even have to do it well) 

Ironically a good example of this in s5 was William

they built up that he was a journalist and that he was hiding something, fast froward and it turned out that he was trying to uncover Leviathan (unknowingly to him) and not apart of them. 

this is a good way for a character to compliment the plot. 

they said here is a new journalist and he doesn’t even know the depths of what he is looking into and that’s a smart move.      

i’m just going to leave this clip here...

this tied in character and plot really well it exampled character and now after this scene they can shift his behaviour and have a reason for it. not just ‘oh actually he was never a jerk and he is nice now’. no it was “he is trying to achieve a goal using this method and now he has been exposed”. This gives a plot based obstacle and character reaction (that failed to work) and it works actually quiet well for a network conspiracy plot.

and finally 

3- Rushed endings  

now this one is actually treaty to talk about, cause of well the COVID- 19 problems so i can’t be to judgemental about it cause that is a dick move. And on top of that the lead actress (of an action show) was pageant so they had to use he a little less (in fight scenes anyway) so again I’m not going to be a dick about it, and you know i don’t want anyone being forced to work during a pandemic if its not at all necessary. So, i will keep this brief.      

There are still things that fell flat due to being to rushed.

1- the tech/ VR take down.

It was built up for at least 10 eps and they took it down in 5 mins with a pep talk from Kara, like um ok that was easy i guess, don’t know why y’all were worried if you could fix it in an afternoon. this is not a bad plot line in theory, but it was given to much attention for the solution it was given. 

2- Leviathan lady (don’t know and don’t care what her name is) being a robot alien thing.

this one is not too bad? but it was shown way to late in the game and again they didn’t focus enough on Leviathan for this to be of any real audience value outside of a surprise/ shock value. So why should i care now? they barely did anything interesting this season but then you give me something cool 2 mins after it doesn’t matter anymore (with the others bottled). why was this not done earlier in the season? but anyway.   

3- Lena’s “redemption”  

I could write a whole separate rant about this, but for time and my sanity i won’t. but basically, my main issue is that the whole season Lena was spiralling downward and doing worse and worse things to people, and that’s fine from a story pov, but after at least 15 to 17 eps of this and countless bad decisions and judgements she dose ONE good thing and, well that’s all your needed to do, all is forgiven.

now i am all for redemption arcs but one of the main words there is ARC!!!

there needs to be a reflection, apologies, rejections and making mistakes and then truly changing for the better, and still making mistakes!!

it was disgustingly quick and it honestly made me a little uncomfortable. I want to see people grow and learn but people have to earn their own way there. and another thing redemption is not something another person should be reasonable for giving you. (*cough* Kara *cough*)  redemption is something you give yourself through hard choices, personal loses and hard work. and guess what you can do all that and still NEVER get back what you messed up, that was real change and growth is as, 

redemption, real redemption         

comes in the moments when you don’t benefit from it, Lena loses nothing in helping Kara in the end and gains everything she throw away in a minute flat. So, yeah i think it was rushed in a way that made my jaw drop in disbelief because of how badly rushed it was. 

But getting out of that head space.

I like trying to end on a positive note the only part of the ending that was not rushed was Brainy’s bottling of Leviathan, 

it was set up as a thing that be could do (ep 10),it was a hard choice to make (as it was going to kill him) and was given time to feel the full weight of the choice, the Rath sibling hand hold, then Lex taunting him and taking the bottle, and then Brainy being left there alone, Then a bit of hope with Nia’s vision. it was the best part of the ending this season and i want to see more.  that is how you don’t rush an ending let the audience feel the consequences for the character choices with the character.

My point of view of Kara’s behavior in S5

I want to remind everyone that Kara doesn’t know everything we know...

From Kara’s perspective it was something like this:

My friend is accepting me for who I am

Lena stole a very dangerous device from the Fortress

I hurt Lena and she feels betrayed

Lena trapped me on the Fortress

Idk what Lena is planning but she is using Myriad so it can’t be good

Lena tried to hurt me

Lena pretended to be my friend for weeks

Lena used kryptonite against me

(WE KNOW THAT SHE ACTUALLY DIDN’T BUT KARA DOESN’T KNOW IT WAS AN ACCIDENT)

Personal input: At this point, Kara has every right to feel hurt and even betrayed by Lena.

The Lena Kara knew, would have never done anything like this. She doesn’t know what is going on in Lena’s mind so, how could she have guessed what was going to happend? But one thing is for certain, she didn’t expect all of this

In that convo with Alex on the 5x08 (i think) she says that she wants to save her soul, meaning that Lena is not herself at that moment...

So if Lena is not being herself, tell me how Kara is supposed to know what Lena will do next?

She had to be prepeared for anything...

After Crisis

I want Lena to forgive me

Lena is working with Lex

Lex is doing something evil and Lena is working with him

(Mind you, Kara never knew exactly what Lena was planning, she didn’t knew the agreement she had with Lex)

Personal input: At this point, Kara is facing her biggest enemy.

Lena is working with her biggest enemy

She is both hurt and confused by the situation...

Idk about y’all but i have been hurt and confused about how I ended up on that situation that got me hurt...

And when i felt like that I resorted to anger...

Lex is in charge of the DEO

No one knows how bad he is

How can i expose someone that is bad but i have no proof as to why he is bad?

Lena is still working with Lex

I mean people this is just... putting 1 and 1 together

Kara has two very powerful villains Lex and Leviathan doing bad shit and Lena is working with Lex

So, technically speaking, Lena is the enemy

Could Kara really just risk her enemies winning just because she knows Lena is good?

Mind you that Lena is not acting like a good person in this whole fucking season... could you really blame Kara for thinking that Lena can be a threat...

After all that happened in 5A, can you really blame Kara for not knowing what to think and sticking to the facts?

Lex is bad and if Lena is working with him, Lena might be bad too

Like... that’s common sense.

And i will say this until it gets through:

FROM KARA’S POV, LENA IS NOT ACTING LIKE HERSELF

WE KNOW WHY SHE IS DOING THE THINGS SHE IS DOING BUT KARA DOESN’T

So like... what did you expect Kara to think?

Then, it comes the anger and the detachedment from Lena at the end.

At this point, Kara is frustrated cause she doesn’t fucking know what Leviathan is or what Lex is planning. She is still hurt and frustrated by the whole Lena situation.

So... she buries the hesitation towards Lena and tries to solve the problem...

(she can’t dwell on the Lena thing that long, bc she has to fight both Lex and Leviathan and, for all that she knows, Lena is working with Lex so... she is with the enemy)

And if she has to think of Lena as the enemy, for saving the world of two threats, then so be it...

Also, y’all got to paranoid about Lena being called a Luthor like... that’s the whole point

Lena is a Luthor, but she doesn’t let that define who she is. She is building a whole different meaning to the surname, one that is worth respecting...

Lena is claiming the surname to turn it into something good

So the whole point is that Lena is a Luthor but that doesn’t make her bad

Kara calling Lex and Lena “Luthors” is just... like y’all thought about it too much is just a fucking surname...

The shows writing at times should be better yes but at this point for Lena and Kara all they need to do at bare minimum is write happy scenes between the two of them that are still heart felt and deep. Like whatever they write even if it feels somewhat ooc S5 as much of a mess as it was proved they could say anything even if it’s hurtful and that there is still so much love and emotion in it because whatever the scene is about Katie and Melissa always bring it and go to there fullest extent and the way there body movement is whether that be shaky and fidgety hands or biting their lips or the quiver in there voices or eye twitches etc. They always play the scenes so well that’s why I think it’s frustrating all the writers need to be is half way more competent. They could write the most basic scenes that have been done before countless time, the overused tropes but with Katie and Mel/ Kara and Lena its so special because of the bond these two characters have and their chemistry. Them talking their pasts in dept together or about the Villain of the week and making jokes referring to them or about their hobbies again, NSYNC, Britney Spears etc. 

Ex: “Did you hear Lance confirm there won’t be a reunion” I know Lena replies how dare he. I mean we all know it isn’t going to happen but at least let us hope right Kara laughs in return.

Them just talking again is all we want again. We want the witty banter but also the deep conversations. Things we want.

- For Kara and Lena to talk about Krypton.

We barely seen Kara talk about her home planet with barely anyone. The only person we have seen is Alex to my recollection. This would be another great way for them to connect. Have Kara tell Lena about Kryptons advanced technology. Side note: Let Kara be pro technology again like I get the idea but like most the writers have it comes off most of the time as one dimensional. Let Kara tell Lena about Kryptonese and have her teach her the language. We have only seen Kara speak Kryptonese briefly it would be nice to see it and even better for her to teach someone it and go through the process with Lena. She has always wanted to teach someone it.

They slightly touched on it when Lena mention all of Kara’s looses. Have them discuss there trauma. The ones they have separately and together. Have Kara tell Lena about her parents/ Aunt. Have Kara tell her she always wanted to tell her the truth. “I always wanted to tell you Lena. In small ways throughout the years I have. I opened up about my mother telling you she was a lawyer. About how my parents died in a house fire. Of all the looses I have faced. You didn’t know the extent of them but I always wanted to be open with you because I knew you would understand. Reference how Kara was slightly mentioning over the years sometimes consciously and sometimes not. Let them discuss Lenas trauma/abuse together. There abandonment issues and why there fall out affected them both so much. Like another fan pointed out have the show discuss Kate’s passing and how that affects Kara. Have her break down after all the built up and have Lena comfort her. This would be a great way to start the conversation of lose and of all the lose Kara has gone through. This could also be they way she asks Lena how she got through it and Lena could discuss her mom and Kara could discuss her dad.

-Let Kara and Lena say “I love you” to one another directly. We know they do so stop going around it by saying “ that’s one of the things I love about you” or “ you still loved” etc. Let them say it outright.

-Last season Lex told his fears to his mom of Lena and Kara being “together” I mean friends. Pictionary at game night, coffee before work etc. Let us see this happen next season as they fully rebuild their relationship. Have them be partners at game night. Show how close they are and that they know each other so well. How they are undefeated together. (Let them win). Show them getting coffee at Noonans before work. Kara knowing Lenas coffee order getting each other scones/ donuts etc. Show them start to have genuine lunch dates again at Catco at one of their apartments. Show that Lexs fears had warrants and that they came true. It was inevitable.

-Show then working together at Lenas lab, Catco etc. Have Kara bring Lena to Jon’s tower (I can’t remember what’s it’s called tbh). They want to be open and honest with each other have Kara tell her where there base is and the real reason the DEO blew up also have Lenas lab turn into their new base just saying at least temporary/ side base.

-Have Lena get L-Corp back. Show them take down Lex together and once and for all. Show Kara support her and help her get through loosing everything. All her life’s work gone. Have Kara dawn on this like “I knew it but I didn’t think about I like that”. She knows Lex being back is bad but she right now is only seeing it from her own POV and the worlds have her start seeing it from others mainly Lenas. Have her start to look at things from Lenas POV. There at a lot of things she should start looking at from her POV. Have Kara help her escape Lex/ The Luthors privately and publicly on her own terms.

- Have then go to therapy have Kara go to Kelly and ask for advice. At first Lena would be reluctant especially how untrustworthy she it with new comers have Kara help her gain her trust by showing her how good it would be for her. Have Lena go to Kelly for a session as a trial run. To then have Kelly recommend someone and have her transfer over to another therapist. Have this be a recurring plot line. Have us see Lena go to therapy weekly in multiple episodes not just one/ off screen. Have this be the way Kara comes to the realization she needs therapy herself. ( Like Melissa wants!!!!) Have her mom/ sister help her come to this realization. (Another Midvale episode with Lena). Supercorp + Alex road trip. Have her discuss the trauma she faced during crisis with her mom Eliza, Alex and Lena. Have Lena help Kara in return by helping her seeking out help/ getting therapy. It could be another thing they bond over as they start this new journey together/ separately . Ex: “You helped me start coming to terms with what the Luthors did to me. Something I never would have done on my own. I know it’s scary but I promise it’s worth it. Take your own advice and seek the same help you told me to get. Let me repay you in a small way by doing this. If not for yourself then for me”.

- Have a scene where Kara introduces Lena to both her moms Eliza and Alura. Have Lena go to Argo city. Have Alura come back to Earth. Have her introduce her to her like she did with Alex. “Mom this is the person I’ve been telling you about, this is Lena”. “Lena it is so nice to meet you. Kara has told me so much about you. She truly thinks the world of you”. Have the both blush. Start to dive into how Lena affects the future like it was mentioned in S3. Remember your own story line is basically what I want tbh.

-Lastly make Supercorp romantic cannon. Finally lean all the way in make it happen. We know you won’t do this but you should. Remember dare to defy. Well dare to defy heteronormativity please we beg. (Get ride of Lex and William, thank you).

They have a lot to fix on all fronts but a lot of it can be done through pursing Supercorp once and for all like you promised to do in season five but failed to do but sidelining them for men once again. Final message just have them interact organically again and stop putting people (mostly men) between them thank you and don’t do a unrequited love story okay no one wants it.. It would be cheap and still misleading.
