Let’s investigate! - Episode 1
Tane didn’t like the idea of talking to a rookie, he’d taken the cool ghost officer over Orange any day. And so he adamantly demanded to get shown to a senior officer.
Enter Lena, who had come looking what the commotion was. Tane was impressed how quickly his wish had gotten granted and in his first surprise commended Orange.
Looks like Tane’s complaint was about an illegal garbage deposit.

After the spring fair Hank Anderson got to know his neighbor, one Tawit Durand, son of a Seneca Iroqouis and a french settler, and his wife, Gyantwachia. The Seneca were allied with the French. As such they looked at their european neighbors with a new wariness ever since rulership over Fort Detroit had shifted from the French to the British. Meanwhile Hank was only wary of his new horse, Greymane.
Tawit: "Ready?"
Hank: "Noooo... Let me stare at my bowling trophy for a while longer, because I certainly won't earn any at riding anytime soon!"
Tawit: "I know what you're really staring at, and it's in the cupboard above the trophy. No drink for you before you have dismounted again!"
Hank: “Getting thrown counts as “dismount”, yes?”
The Durand couple gave Hank riding lessons in private, so that the newly minted Lieutenant didn't have to go through that embarassment in front of his men at the fort.
Hank: "Whoa, it's tilting, it's tilting! I'm falling!!!"
Gyantwachia: "That differs from how you percieve the world after a glass too many how exactly?"
The start was rocky, but soon the neighbors undertook first short, and then extended trips into the countryside in Hank's freetime.
Tawit: "So, as an officer, are you going to the council together with Johnson this summer, when he negotiates the peace treaty between your people and mine?"
Hank: "I don't think so. Staying on top of those things short-term is a lot easier than doing them for weeks."
Tawit: "Politics?"
Hank: "Riding!"
They laughed. After a while they had inside jokes. And later still they trusted each other with their personal concerns.
As an "insider" in the british army, Hank felt qualified to reassure the Durands that pretty much nothing would change under the new rulers. He genuinely believed so, because although the government was planning a change in their foreign policies, "indian affairs agent" Johnson had not seen fit to inform the middle and lower ranks about that. As far as Hank was concerned, everything would stay the same.
The Durands are Lena and George Ruster from the rotational save. Instead of English they are now French and instead of Oneida they are now Seneca.
