If you're familiar with the wonderful film, Chocolat (2000), starring Juliette Binoche and Victoire Thivisol as the mother and daughter who moved from town to town in France whenever the north wind blew, I'd just like to say that an additional reason for moving whenever the wind changes is

A lovely cool front blew in this weekend and my eyes have sealed shut.

Once they open, however, I do believe I'll watch the movie once more. The chocolate scenes alone are worth it. Great ensemble cast, beautiful scenery, enjoyable soundtrack, and 5 Academy Award nominations.

The DCLA names and how likely I would be to name my kid that

Keep in mind that I do not live in a latin american country, which means some of my choices would be based on the types of names common or uncommon where I live. Some names I think are nice but would stick out a lot more over here.

Violetta: The thing is, I love this name, but if I name my child this I will just think about Violetta the character every time I say their name.

Francesca: Yeah!

Camila: If, and only if, my child is red haired. Source: Every Camila I've met irl has been red haired, and Camila in the show is... well not naturally red haired but it's hard to not to picture her with red hair. (Side note, every Camila I've met have also worked as a teacher or in childcare?????)

Ludmila: I think so?

Natalia: Maybe... although, where I live, it's more common to have a variation of the name, Natalie.

Maxi: It's too common! I've met a lot of Maxi's in my life, although it's short of Maximilian rather than MAXIMILIANO.

Monica: Every single Monica I've met has been a teacher or a lunchlady. Also they'd be tormented with the swedish hit single "Hej Monica" which is one of the most annoying songs ever produced from Sweden. Listen to it and you'll see why. Especially in the end of the song where the singer just straight up SCREAMS. So maybe I'll spare them of that.

Rey: I think the name Rey is pretty cool. So I'd consider it.

Jimena: Ok, when I first heard her full name, my immediate reaction was "That's a strange name?" - because for me living here, it was never a name I heard about before. But then I thought about how many names there are from my country that would sound pretty strange to other cultures, so I tbh should be quiet. All in all, I think Jimena is a pretty nice name, but I also know that over here where I live, people would have a bit of a "can you repeat that?" when someone says it.

On the station platform, it was impossible to believe Velia was still in the city. Nearby lamps blinked feebly, and Velia’s nice maroon jacket wasn’t enough to keep her warm. Or maybe that was just fear chilling her bones.

hii ridi! hope you are having a fab day :-) i just finished the neapolitan quartet, which i believe you read last year, and was wondering if you had any posts about your thoughts on the characters/themes/series as a whole. i can literally think of nothing else at the moment and always love reading your opinions so thought i would ask!!

hii bab! i loved the neapolitan quartet although my memories of specific characters are blurry because there were just. soo many...i remember above all loathing nino sarratore i still think he should be killed by a frenzied mob...and i remember loving alfonso and enzo : ^ (( and fuck. antonio...though i cant remember what happened to him or if he turned out to be awful...above all though it was lena and lila who stayed with me!! i found the way ferrante wrote their friendship and its strange little intricacies and frictions to be soo vivid and compelling they are some of my favourite female characters ive ever read! i recently read the book of goose by yiyun li which struck me mainly as a poor man's my brilliant friend where the two main girls are so obviously meant to be styled on lena and lila but not as well executed which made me freshly appreciative of how good mbf is..anyway yah sorry i dont have more insightful comments than this i just love those books i love their freaky horrible friendship even when theyre terrible to each other <33

in one of the posts you reposted about jack and Cassidy the op talked about how jack could possibly project all his guilt and anger onto genji through the voice line we have of them and it made me think. It’s something completely different but I’ve always thought of genji as not being as close to overwatch as a lot of people make it out to be?? but I say that very lightly. I do believe genji eventually came to get closer with everyone else I mean we know he definitely got closer to Lena at some point. But with how he got assimilated into ow in the first place and everything that happened with hanzo, he obviously didn’t have a good time lmao. He was probably distant and isolated himself, and that most likely stopped him from really forming connections? I don’t know how long it took him to finally get his shit together but I know at some point he realized he didn’t want this and went out to basically find himself (zenyatta and the shambali). And this connects back to the whole point of this ask, maybe it’s so easy for jack to project onto genji because genji is kinda an enigma within ow. He came in and probably took a while to form any relationships with anyone and once he did he basically went his own way and found his own path APART from overwatch. And he’s probably one of the few that was able to do so. I feel like that gap between genji and overwatch not only can make it easy for jack to act how he does in that voice line but it would also be cool to see genji as a character be used to showcase and guide others into realizing that they can heal with or without the help/need of ow (maybe Cassidy and mercy). It’s just a silly thought I had but ofc if you disagree to any of this I would love to hear your thoughts

I definitely think the only people Genji got a connection to was other members of the 2nd gen of Overwatch, specifically the Storm Rising Team. I do think that he and Cassidy did get closer after Blackwatch but that was more in the development stages when Genji decided to leave. Out of all the characters I also think Genji was the first to leave Overwatch of his own volition.

Like I said in my previous post I think that Genji's isolation from both Blackwatch and Overwatch did have the unintended consequence of him not being to help where he should have and saying/doing things that made things worse. An example being him initially supporting Reyes's decision to kill Antonio.

Something else I want to point out is that out of all the second gen, Genji and Tracer are the only ones with a family outside of Overwatch. Tracer has Emily and (presumably) her bio dad, meanwhile Genji has Hanzo and Kiriko's family. In contrast, Sojourn's first association with Overwatch was when her and her sister weren't on speaking terms, Cassidy and Mercy were orphaned by the Crisis and Winston lost his father figure in space. We also see that even though Tracer has those connections, she still has more familial connections within Overwatch than out of it.

I think that would both help and cause conflict. On one hand Genji would be able to show a lot of characters the downside of the previous Overwatch, on the other, he'll have a hard time relating to other characters when they struggle through the betrayals and heartbreak of the old Overwatch.

Clarence Edwin “Cito” Gaston

Clarence Edwin “Cito” Gaston is a baseball manager, coach, and outfielder. He became the first African American baseball manager to win the World Series when the Toronto Blue Jays won in 1992.

Clarence Gaston was born to Sammy Gaston and Gertrude Coley on March 17, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas. Gaston’s adoption of the nickname “Cito” was often disputed growing up. He claims he adopted the name from a Mexican-American wrestler he watched when he was young. Another claim was that he adopted the name from a friend, Carlos Thompson, who thought he resembled a Cito wrestler. Gaston attended Wheatley High School in San Antonio, Texas, for a year, then transferred to Holy Cross High School and Solomon-Coles High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Gaston graduated from Solomon-Coles High School in 1962.

After graduating, Gaston played semi-professional baseball in local leagues from 1962 to 1964. In 1964, Gaston was spotted by a scout from the then-Milwaukee Braves at a game and immediately signed him. Gaston would make his Major League Baseball debut in 1967 with the now-Atlanta Braves for a season. Gaston signed with the San Diego Padres in an expansion draft the following season and started playing with the team in 1969. Gaston’s best season with the team came in 1970 when he was selected for his first and only MLB All-Star game. He would remain with the Padres until the 1974 season. Gaston signed with the Braves for a second time the following season and remained with them until the 1978 season. He would then play with the Pittsburgh Pirates for part of the 1978 season and retire at the end of the season at the age of 34.

In 1982, Gaston became the hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. With Gaston as one of the coaches, the team won its first division title in 1985. He remained a coach until the 1989 season when he became manager of the team. Under Gaston’s management, the Blue Jays became a significant World Series contender. During the 1992 season, the Blue Jays won their first World Series against the Atlanta Braves in six games. With that win, Gaston became the first African American to lead his team to a World Series.

Gaston and the Blue Jays won another World Series in 1993 after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. Gaston remained with the Blue Jays until the end of the 1997 season, when he was fired. He rejoined the team as hitting coach during the 2000 season and remained with the Blue Jays through 2001. In 2008, Gaston was rehired as manager of the Blue Jays and would stay in that position until the end of the 2010 season.

Gaston was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2006, Gaston was inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Two years later, in 2008, Gaston was given a Negro League Hall of Fame Legacy Award (Jackie Robinson Award). He was inducted into the Ontario Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

Gaston has been married three times. He was married first to Lena Green Gaston. The couple had two daughters, Rochelle and Shawn, before divorcing. Gaston married a Canadian citizen, known as Denise, but the couple also divorced. Gaston married a third time to a woman named Lynda.
