Brewery Ommegang announces a three-part sour series - Apripêche, Solera and Rosetta.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Brewery Ommegang this week announced an exciting evolution of their sour series: a trio of eminently drinkable beers packaged in 12 oz. cans, launching in April. Apripêche, Solera and Rosetta will also be available on draft when on-premise establishments reopen.

The newcomer, Apripêche, combines a quaffable Belgian-style witbier with peaches, apricots, and just the right amount of a tart Flemish golden ale. The delicious result is an artful interplay of sweet nectar, hazy refreshment, and wine-like acidity.

“We’ve experimented with stone fruit sours for a long time,” says Ommegang brewmaster Phil Leinhart. “Apripêche blends the juicy sweetness of peaches and the delicate acidity of apricots, resulting in a beer that pairs perfectly with a variety of lighter, warm weather dishes.”

Solera, formerly known as Pale Sour, is a tart golden ale crafted by Liefmans, Ommegang’s sister blendery in Belgium. A mixed-culture fermentation in open copper vats is followed by months of aging. Similar in approach to the classic “solera method” of blending liquids of varying ages, master blenders regularly mix new batches with older ones to achieve the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

“Our most popular sour is perfect for sipping in the sun, so when we resolved to release it in cans, we decided that Solera was a better name,” says Leinhart. “This beer is truly sunshine in a glass.”

Finally, Rosetta, Ommegang’s year-round kriek ale, moves from bottles to cans to complete the set. A charming combination of Oud Bruin, a tart Flemish brown ale, and Cuvée Brut, a cheerful cherry beer, Rosetta offers elegance, depth, complexity and an intriguing interplay of tartness and sweetness.

Hey, I have an OC named Michael Leinharte, who's a swordsman. Well, weaponsman, but he mainly uses swords. I'm sure that they would get along great! Michael is hunting in revenge for his father, a smith, a cult, and more specifically a god. Maybe joint story involving Milei? If not, then discord roleplay? Rules are no revealing real world identity, so don't worry about that.

Possibly. Milei’s world surrounds witchcraft (and dark magic)/sorcery, crossed with fantasy, adventure, and some fantasy/modern technology like rocket motorcycles and airships. There will always be a need to have smaller characters in the story. I need to think about things more clearly before I can even begin to think about making the comic for it. But I will definitely keep it in mind :) thank you for the info!

Sixpoint Brewery talks Lager Love and Beer Education

Sixpoint Brewery talks Cicerone certification, crispy lagers, and nuclear submarines

Sixpoint Brewery first came to recognition for their bright Resin DIPA.  As the name implies, this isn't a hazy and fruity beer.  Resin packs a punch of pine and citrus to quench your thirst for that West Coast goodness.  Education and Training Manager Max Finnance wants you to enjoy Resin, and all your beers, a bit more and he joins us this week to talk about just how to do that.

Before his life in beer Finnance was stationed on a nuclear submarine and tells us some of the science background he gained has helped in his brewery life.  He's a certified Advanced Cicerone as well as a BJCP Certified beer judge.  Read, he knows his beer.  He admits that this type of in-depth education isn't for everyone but if you're a passionate beer fan you can still learn a bit more about your beers, and how to drink them.  Sure, we all think we know how to drink, but do we really?  Some of the classes he teaches are designed to educate retailers, distributors, and employees on the art of beer.  How to properly store, serve, and sip your brews.  Finnance enjoys traveling and sharing his knowledge but with the Covid Curse upon us he's taken his classes online.

Hazy IPAs still rule when it comes to questions he gets about beer, but he'd also like everyone to know more about lagers.  There's a huge variety out there well beyond the Crispy Boy pilsners but lagers still have a reputation with many people as clear and light beers.  If you're in a larger area it's likely there's a local brewery brewing up a variety of lagers, so take a trip and see what's on tap.

As a silver lining to the Covid cloud, Sixpoint has been able to take advantage of some temporary laws to host an outdoor tasting room.  A more permanent taproom (or two) is in the works, although there have been some delays due to landlord issues.  Follow Sixpoint on social media to get the scoop as thing develop.
