Tatooine Ghost | Troy Denning | 2003 | Legends Universe
Part 30
“There’s no need to worry.” Ulda continued to watch them approach the test loop. “If your man is good enough to handle Rao’s swoop, he’ll be fine on this little Novastar.” Leia recognized a classic Bothan claim test when she saw one—put the subject in a situation where he either had to admit he was lying or prove that he wasn’t—but this one had a hidden twist. And she didn’t like hidden twists, not with Han’s life at risk. “I’m very fond of my man.” Leia put as much ice into her voice as she could—and she had been told she could give a wampa the chills. “I would be very upset if an unnecessary accident befell him.” “Then I hope he’s as good as you say.” Ulda’s carefully maintained poise slipped a little. “For both our sakes.”

The Ghost of You
Walking into her office, Marceline let out a sigh as she closed the door behind her. Standing there for a moment, she unlatched the sword and shield from her back placing them gently by the door.
Crossing the room, Marceline took a seat at her desk. Scanning the pictures that lined her desk, another heavy sigh left her. It wasn't long before Marceline pulled out the bottom drawer of her desk and grabbed the wine bottle and two glasses.
Setting up the glasses, she poured the wine in them before setting the bottle off to the side. Reaching in the drawer again, she pulled out a small device and set it on her desk.
Pressing the button, she was face to face with a holographic version of Lena Luthor. Marceline oddly felt a lump in her throat as the message started to play.
Staying quiet, she waited for the moment she knew was coming. Pressing another button, Marceline looped the message where Lena was holding a glass of wine and sipping it. "Hey there Lena..." Marceline said in an almost cracking voice.
"It's been... Well to damn long honestly..." She tried joking as she grabbed her wine glass. Leaning back in her seat she sipped her drink. "Where do I start?" She asked with a half chuckle.
"Umm... Well... I guess I should start from here. A.R.G.U.S. has my daughter. They caught her when she tried to help a bunch of Meta kids. Michael and I were a mess those first few nights." She said.
"Then Diana and I split up... And I asked Candice and her wife if they could watch Michael for me." Marceline continued. Taking a moment she sipped on her drink again. She could feel the tears rising to her eyes.
Quickly brushing them away, Marceline cleared her throat. "But I've already told you that before..." She said. "Leia is... Well she wouldn't be your daughter if she wasn't a perfectionist like you." She joked.
"I know you never wanted her to fight, but I'm teaching her to defend herself. Probably doesn't make much of a difference. I'm still being a bad influence on her." Marceline admitted. "You know I love being around her, it's like you're still here with us..." She said as she felt a few tears roll down her face.
Taking a moment to wipe the tears away, Marceline took a deep breath. "Uh... I've been trying my best not to tell her what you would of thought of her, or tell her who you were. That sounds bad I know, but hear me out." She said with a small chuckle.
"I've been reminiscing about you to her. Letting her get a sense of who you were on her own." Marceline explained. Taking another sip of her wine, she let out a soft sigh. "Mary joined the Rebellion. Kind of a bombshell to drop after telling you about Leia.. sorry..." She said.
"Still, she is stubborn. I know Winn and Kara don't want her to fight, hell I don't want her to fight, but she wanted to help. I couldn't keep her out of the fight forever..." Marceline said before rubbing her temples. "I know Winn would probably yell at me, go off on me about putting Mary in danger." She said with a half-hearted smile.
"However I think if I saw Kara... I think I'd just break down and cry at her feet... I never wanted her family to be involved... I never wanted any of this, but A.R.G.U.S. dragged me back into this..." She commented. "I guess that leads me to Sanctuary." She said.
"It's been interesting to say the least." She said as she finished her first glass. Pouring herself another glass, Marceline looked over at the hologram. "Wish I knew the future when we first built this place. Would of made actual housing and places to properly grow food." She said with a small chuckle.
"We've been taking in refugees and of course there are the Resistance members. We have one person here, Pamela, she can grow stuff but until I talk to Cisco we have to be careful with how powers are used. This place is hidden, just who knows for how long." Marceline said with a sigh.
"Taking supplies from A.R.G.U.S. has gotten tougher. They have doubled up security, but without those supplies people could die." She admitted. Taking another sip of her drink, she sat the glass down.
Silence filled the room as she sat there. Taking another sip of her drink, her eyes flicked over to Lena. "I ran into Charlie the other day... You know Candice's wife. Seems their daughter Lily is just as... Determined to help people." She said with a soft chuckle.
"Who knew heroes would have kids who would become heroes. It's a crazy idea right?" She joked with a half smile. "Still... I fear for her and Candice. Sure Lily is older, but even then losing a kid is hard for a parent." She admitted with a sigh.
Taking another sip of her drink, her eyes fell to her desk. "Speaking of running into people..." She started. "I saw Zari..." She said.
"I know she wants to save her brother, I get how important family is, I do, obviously I want to save Esmeralda." Marceline said. "However if Zari isn't here as part of the Legends... She has gone rogue..." She said with a sigh.
Finishing her second glass, Marceline grabbed the bottle before setting it back down. "I wonder if I can find that old Legends com Candice left me." She thought aloud.
"Anyway you're probably sick of me rambling like a mad woman." She said with a chuckle. Looking back at Lena she went to say something but she stopped. Reaching over she grabbed the other glass to drink it.
"Rao, I wish you were here Lena..." Marceline said as she felt tears flooding her eyes again. "I just ... You always knew just what to say to help me.... And I miss my friend..." She said as she wiped away some tears.
"Hell you were more than a friend..." She said trying to laugh through her tears. "You are part of my family..." She said as her voice cracked. "I just... I miss you Lena..." She said.
The room filled with the soft sounds of Marceline crying. Taking a deep breath, she wiped away some more of her tears. "I always hate this part..." She admitted as she looked over at the hologram. "I'll see you later Lena... I'll probably have to hit up a liquor store and pick up more wine." She said with a chuckle.
Reaching over, Marceline pressed the play button and let the message play out. As the room fell silent, she sat there drying her tears. Finishing the last glass of wine, she let out a soft sigh. "Rao protect her, please..." Marceline muttered in prayer.

A reação?
OLHA A BRIGA!

Dobradinha no finde
Repetindo as finais do dia anterior, a BD derrubou a New Eagles por 7 a 2 no primeiro mapa e 9 a 5 no segundo.

Tatooine Ghost | Troy Denning | 2003 | Legends Universe
Part 28
“So, I’m going after Kit,” Han said. Ulda’s glare was directed at Leia. “Is that so?” “My husband is an excellent swoop pilot.” Leia motioned Han back. Kuati women rarely liked to be addressed by strange men. “And I’ll be glad to pay for its use.” “That bike’s not for rent,” Ulda said. “Maybe I can let him take another.” “Another one can’t catch Wald’s,” Tamora said. “If Kit sees someone coming up behind him, he’ll hit the thrusters and be gone. You know that.” “We’ll purchase Rao’s swoop,” Leia offered. “Is fifteen thousand enough?” That caught Ulda’s attention. She looked up into the darkness beneath Leia’s hood, either trying to guess the identity of her visitor or calculating how much she could take her for. “Thirty thousand,” Leia said. “Kitster already has a twenty-minute lead.” “And you’re not going to change that by getting your man killed.”

Things a Luthor Does Not Do - Part 2
“I might have done something.” The fragile tone in Kara’s voice makes the corner of her lips turn up, so she bites her bottom one, arms coming to cross in front of her chest, and tilts her head to the side. Kara stops pacing and actually smiles when the puppy squirms, trying to find a better position. He ends up with his belly upwards and snout in the crook of Kara’s elbow. “You might have done something?” “Did you know there was this dog adoption at the park this afternoon?”
or
In which Kara keeps making Lena breaks her rules
It’s also on AO3: http://archiveofourown.org/works/9665000
“Would you let me give you the world?” The words were out of her mouth before she could realize it. Kara hadn’t meant to say it out loud; she shouldn’t have said it.
She saw the tears on the corners of Lena’s eyes and she couldn’t help the feeling of increasing panic in her chest.
She saw Lena nod furiously and heard the short sob escaping from her lips, but she also saw how the woman beneath her brought her hands up to cover her eyes.
Lena was crying. And it was her fault. She had done it. So she couldn’t quite control the shakiness in her hands and the quivering in her voice as she tried to make Lena stop.
The thought alone of seeing the woman cry was enough to send her into despair.
“Oh, Lena, please don’t. I’m sorry, it was too much. I know, I’m so, so sorry. I take it back, pretend I didn’t say anything, please don’t cry. Please, don’t.” By the end, Kara could feel the hot tears threatening to send her into the same mess Lena was now.
“I should apologize.” She said after a couple of minutes, the sobs dead in the back of her throat and the rather low voice. “You did nothing wrong, it’s just that the way I feel about you? It’s overwhelming, Kara. And I was taught not to cry, and I’ve done as I was told for so long.”
Lena looked down, hand traveling from Kara’s lower back to the back of her neck and sliding down to wrap around her arm.
Kara watched her, the way her teeth sunk into her lower lip, contemplating on whether or not she should share the rest of the information, and all she could think was on how much Lillian Luthor had affected her.
How much Lillian had in Lena.
“You make me forget how to act like a Luthor, like I was taught to.”
Kara leaned down, letting the weight of her body settle down into Lena just enough, and she kissed her. Gently. Loving. A promise she would never have to scold herself around Kara.
Lena had cried after the first time they made love. It wasn’t just sex. It could never be just sex when it came to Lena.
And, strangely enough, Kara thought it was the best reaction she could ever receive.
The first time Lena Luthor cried in front of Kara Danvers had happened over two years ago. The first time was quickly followed by a second one, a third one, a twentieth one.
Kara would never mention anything, not after the first night, not after the I was taught not to cry, but she would always tug Lena closer and kiss her, assure her it was okay to cry in front of her.
Comfortable would be the best word to describe the way they act around each other.
Comfortable would not be the best word to describe how Kara felt in this moment.
Lena, hand grabbing tightly at the doorknob, mouth agape and eyes fixed at Kara’s chest. Lena, with a grocery bag in one hand and her favorite purse in the other. Lena, in black and red flannel and jeans, eyes wide and hair down.
But she takes one breathe, two, three. She exhales. She closes her eyes and mutters something under her breath, before locking the door behind her and leaving everything in hands at the counter. She comes to stop in front of Kara, who was already pouting, standing in the middle of the living room.
“Care to explain?” Her eyebrow shoots up as she looks between blue eyes and the ball of light grey fur tucked against her chest.
She’s not pissed, that’s a good sign. Amused, though. Definitely amused.
“I might have done something.”
The fragile tone in Kara’s voice makes the corner of her lips turn up, so she bites her bottom one, arms coming to cross in front of her chest, and tilts her head to the side.
Kara stops pacing and actually smiles when the puppy squirms, trying to find a better position. He ends up with his belly upwards and snout in the crook of Kara’s elbow.
“You might have done something?”
“Did you know there was this dog adoption at the park this afternoon?”
“Yes, Kara, I knew, you told me two weeks ago. And I remember you telling me you wouldn’t go nearby, because you didn’t want to make anything reckless.”
“Anyways, all his brothers and sisters were already adopted and this little guy over here was alone, asking me to bring him home.” Kara tries showing his face to make more impact, but the dog doesn’t even bulge. So she smiles at Lena while tracing a line from his chest to the end of his belly. “Krypto, say ‘hi’ to Mom. He’s probably tired, though, exhausting evening playing with his friends.”
Krypto yawns, eyes opening just enough to look at where Kara was pointing, Lena, and then closing again.
“You named it Krypto.”
“Not it, him. Don’t listen to Mom.” She clutches him tighter against her chest.
“Mom?”
“Well, I’ve already claimed Mommy, so you can pick anything else, but he has heard me calling you Mom so it could be hard on him if you changed.”
“Kara” she sighs and takes a step closer, hand resting against Kara’s jaw. She leans into the touch, small smile in her face, “you understand this is a big step right? Raising something”
“Someone.”
“…together. I just wish you would’ve talked to me about it.” Kara nods before she dips her head down, cheeks warm. “And I would’ve liked to have a say on his name.”
Her head shoots up just in time to catch the glimpse of the warmest look she has ever seen and she can’t stop the grin in her face as Lena’s hand drop from her face to caress Krypto’s head.
She can’t stop herself, not even if she tried. She leans down, lips easily finding Lena’s after more than two years together, and takes a cautious step forward, not wanting to disturb the Husky puppy sleeping in her arms.
As she breaks the kiss, she doesn’t pull back completely, just enjoying the feeling of the woman she loved near her.
“What if I let you name the kids?”
It’s out before she realizes it. Kara snaps her eyes open, staring at the matching expression in Lena’s face. Her chin drops down; trying to come up with words, apologies, Lena probably doesn’t even want kids. The thought is a slap to her face from reality.
Lena probably doesn’t even want kids.
They never talked about it. They talked about marriage in a total sum of one time, eight months ago. Future was so uncertain because of Kara, Supergirl, they never planned it. It doesn’t mean that Kara doesn’t want it.
But Lena smiles; and she sees the watery eyes staring back at her. Maybe Lena wants this.
“Kids? Plural?”
“Uh, yeah? I know we never talked about it, and we obviously need to get married first, but”
“Put the damn puppy down, Kara.” As soon as Krypto is curled in a ball at the corner of the couch, Lena’s hands are on the exposed skin of her hip bones; Kara’s coming to rest at the other woman’s shoulders. “Do you mean it?”
“Rao, Lena, more than anything in this world.” The woman smiles, almost as bright as Kara, and starts pulling Kara towards the bedroom. “So, it’s safe to assume you’re not kicking me out?”
Lena looks up at her, then, tears already down her cheeks and happiness adorning her face.
“Well, my girlfriend just gave me the green light to ask her to marry me and said she wants kids, so we might as well start trying.”
Kara laughs out loud, just as they cross the bedroom door.
“I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works, Lena.”
If the past two years and a month were any indication, Kara already knew her kids names.
Luke and Leia.
She could get used to it.
**
“I kind of hate you right now.” Kara laughed and let her hand rest on Lena’s hip bone, while a soft smile framed her face.
“Why’s that?”
With a raised eyebrow, she saw Lena turning to her side, face coming to rest an inch away from hers, breaths mixed together. Their legs tangled up and, soon enough, her hand found its way to Lena’s lower back.
As she watched the usually inflexible expression being replaced by a lip bite and shinning eyes, she couldn’t help but think Lena was the most beautiful thing she had ever laid her eyes on.
“Begging is strictly prohibited once you’re a Luthor.” She came closer, lips brushing against Kara’s as she whispered the next words. “You made me break another rule, Kara. You made me beg.”
Kara giggled as she felt her face heating up. But her hand crawled up, fingers brushing along Lena’s side and Kara could see the shivers in her skin, and came to a stop at the back of her neck. She pulled Lena in, mouth sloppily attaching at her chin instead of her lips.
Lena pulled back with a laugh, heart racing. Kara could hear it, pounding against her chest, and it was quickly becoming her favorite sound.
“Kara Danvers, you are something else.”
They kissed lazily, without the ultimate rush of want, Lena pulling Kara forwards, whom happily obliged and rolled on top of her.
“Do you think I can make you do it again?” Kara’s eyebrow rose up; Lena bit her lip trying to hide a smile. It didn’t work out.
“You are welcomed to try.”
“Kara! Control the damn puppy!”
Lena takes her hand away from the gear change to pursue the four month old puppy happily wiggling his tail while sitting on her thighs. She picks him up and hands him over absently to her right.
She chuckles, watching Krypto stumbling out of the hold, almost falling, and Lena bringing him back into her lap before he could hurt himself. When Lena looks at her, well, at the phone she’s been holding for the past couple of minutes, she opens her mouth to say something, but changes her mind and focus on the road.
“Krypto, quiet.” But he keeps trying to get her attention, bumping his nose against Lena’s stomach. “Kara, take him back. I can’t pet him right now. And stop filming us.”
She takes pity on her girlfriend then, locking her phone and tucking it at her back pocket, before taking their dog and settling him down on her own lap.
He whines, but as soon as Kara lowers her finger for him to nimble, he stops.
“You had to get a dog.” Lena grumbles under her breath but Kara catches it. She always does.
“Don’t act like you don’t love him. He surely loves his Mom more than he loves his Mommy. I’m still mad about it if you want to know.”
“I don’t. Love him. Or want to know about it.”
Lena slowly stops the car twenty feet away from the beach house they would be spending the next handful of days in and gets out before Kara can answer.
She doesn’t let go so easily.
“So I didn’t get home to find you cuddling with him on the couch at two am?” Lena’s already closing the trunk and busing her hands with the luggage. “You take him, I take the bags?”
“Thank you.” And for someone who claims not to love Krypto, she snatches him from Kara’s hands rather rapidly. “And it was a onetime occasion.”
She doesn’t mention the way Lena tucks him under her chin and scratches the back of his ears.
“You also don’t feed him from your plate?”
“I don’t think dog food is soft enough for his baby teeth and I don’t want him to starve. You would kill me if he died.” She recites as she opens the front door to let them in. “The porch is in the back, it leads straight to the beach. Our bedroom is the second room on the right. Beautiful view from the balcony.”
“I’ll be right back.” Kara is in the middle of the stairs when she shouts back at Lena “That storm last week, you didn’t happen to let Krypto up because he was scared, did you?”
“No.”
It’s slurred and almost a question; it makes Kara stop and take a couple of steps down and she couldn’t say the sight was foreign. Or that it didn’t melt her heart. Or that it didn’t make Kara fall even more in love with Lena Luthor.
Because in the middle of the living room, Lena stands with Krypto held up to her eye level as he tries to get closer and nip at her nose. Lena is laughing and she doesn’t need to hear Lena saying it. She knows. Krypto means more to her than it means to Kara herself.
She’s about to say something, to tease her girlfriend only for the sake of watching her turn that beautiful shade of crimson, when Lena’s phone rings. She puts him down on the floor, where he stumbles for a moment before sitting down and just looking at Lena, and answers her phone.
Kara watches as her expression goes from relaxed to angry and finally resigned.
“Okay. Give me two hours and I’ll be there.”
“What’s wrong?” Lena sighs.
“There was an incident on L-Corp. Jess just needs me to attend an emergent meeting with the board and sign some papers.”
“Good thing I didn’t take those to the bedroom them.”
“No, Kara, I have to go. I don’t want to ruin our days off.” But Kara is already stubbornly standing in front of her, Krypto running between their legs. “Stay, I’ll be back by sun down.”
“Lena, I don’t mind going back if we need to. I just want to spend time with you, I don’t care where or what we’ll be doing.” She sets the bags down in order to hold Lena’s waist and pull the woman towards her.
“I mean it, Kara. I’ll be back today, it won’t take long.” She pecks Kara’s lips until the pout is gone and runs a soothing thumb over her frown. “Please, stay here. I’m begging you.”
“Tonight?”
“At eight. Ten tops.”
Kara leans in, their kiss long and slow, until Lena giggles because Krypto keeps jumping at their legs.
And if Lena comes back at ten seventeen that night, Kara doesn’t mention.
And if Lena greets Krypto first even though she was at the door as soon as she heard the engine die, she also doesn’t mention.
**
Lena rested her chin against Kara’s thigh, as she tried to catch her breath.
She never thought this was going to be a sight she would ever see: Lena Luthor kneeling in between her legs, thumbs tracing lazy circles in the back of her calves.
The couch felt comfortable enough right now, with the wave of tiredness hitting her just in the right way. She wanted to close her eyes and maybe catch the twelve hour sleep she desperately needed.
But Lena got up, straddling her lap and hands finding the base of her neck, thumbs applying just enough pressure to make Kara moan once again, eyes closing.
“I didn’t break you, did I?” Lena’s tone is teasing, but with a hint of concern she can’t quite erase.
“No.”
“Good.” Lena laughed and Kara wrapped her arms around her waist. “Don’t get used to it, though. I don’t kneel.”
“You totally should.” Kara’s eyes snapped open, her mouth hanging down. “I didn’t mean it like that, if you want to, of course we can do it again, but if you’re not comfortable I would never make you do anything you don’t want. Consent is important and I’m all up for it, because you know”
“Kara” Lena ran her thumbs against sharp cheekbones and smiled. “Maybe you’ll just have to try your luck.”
Currently, Kara is in the middle of a breakdown. Her mind going in overdrive.
She shouldn’t be surprised, for Rao’s sake, she told Lena to do it, but it had happened six months ago and, if she was being honest, she thought Lena had forgotten about the day once she fell in love with Krypto.
I guess not.
But she can’t bring herself to say anything. Not because she doesn’t know what to say, the answer is obvious; she has been waiting for it for the past year at least. Her mouth, though, seemed to have forgotten how to make proper words.
This never happens when I need it.
“Kara” it’s Lena’s voice that brings her back. To the reality in which no one other than Lena Luthor is kneeling in front of her, in nothing but a partly done white button up and underwear, hair disheveled from sleep and a freaking ring in hand. “Say something, you’re scaring me.”
Kara stumbles out of bed, falling face first in front of Lena, waking the sleeping Krypto by the corner of the room, before getting on her knees, her eyes locking with Lena’s worried ones.
How is she supposed to say this is what she wants the most in her life right now? How is she supposed to tell Lena nothing would possibly make her happier? How is she supposed to find the words for an emotion she can’t quite understand herself?
So she kisses her instead. Her fingers desperately wrapping around her hair and the kiss nothing more than the press of smiles mixed in hot tears.
“I’m going to assume that’s a yes, just to slow my heart down.”
“Yes, yes. Of course it’s a yes.”
Lena hugs her hard, Krypto trying to find his way between the mess of pressed bodies and hot breaths. Eventually, he does separate the two of them, paws against Lena’s chest and tongue against her cheek.
“She said yes, buddy.” Krypto barks as she laughs.
“Okay, if you’re going to trade your fiancée for our dog, we’re going to need another one so I can do the same.”
“You forgot your ring.” Lena shoots back and stops playing with Krypto long enough to slide the ring onto her finger.
Lena picks up their dog, then, holding him high enough to scoot him into their bed, and follows suit. Kara gets up, leaving a kiss on Lena’s forehead and a pet on Krypto’s.
“Kara,” the voice calling her is soft and it makes Kara stop dead in her track, hand on the door frame. “I love you.”
“I love you too. Now go back to celebrating, I have to call Alex and Maggie, then Eliza, Winn, James, oh Rao, I have many calls to make.”
And when Maggie answers her sister’s phone with a did she ask you yet? Kara doesn’t mind.
**
“Sometimes” Lena started in the middle of the night. It was dark outside, curtains opened on Kara’s bedroom but window closed. It was not the first time Lena had woken up, sweat covering her body and wide eyes unfocused, but it was the first time she said something after. “I can still hear Lex’s voice.”
Kara kissed the back of her neck and tightened her hold against her waist.
“Sometimes I can still see his mad persona, throwing everything at the walls, eyes bloodshot and bruised hands. I can still hear his threats against everyone who ventured in his way. It’s all too much because I once made the mistake of being that person. I thought he needed someone whom he loved, someone who loved him just as much, to bring him back. I was wrong. And if he didn’t stop for me, he wouldn’t stop for anyone.”
“You don’t have to tell me this Lena, you don’t need to say anything if it makes you hurt. I don’t want to be the reason to bring all those memories back.”
“They’re always here, Kara. No matter what I do.” Lena turned on her grip, nose brushing against her own. “So I stayed out of his path. I only saw him again on his trial. It was also the first time in years I saw Lillian. She hadn’t changed. She didn’t cry for Lex, she didn’t care for Lex, why would she care about me? I was always the disappointment, the one who didn’t follow. And it’s hard to close my eyes and not hear those words, when they were all I knew for decades.”
Kara held her; Kara ran her hand through her back as Lena cried against her chest; Kara held her until she heard the low cries dying down and the steady heartbeat taking over one more time.
“You don’t have to face them alone anymore.”
Kara taps at the window of their bedroom and Lena stumbles out of bed trying to get her as fast as she can.
After a quick kiss, Kara kneels down to pet Krypto and Jax, before they started barking at midnight. Jax, still the three months old puppy, stops whining as soon as Kara scoots him up, kissing the tip of his nose.
“I still can’t believe you convinced me to adopt another dog.”
“Look at him! He loves Mommy. This one won’t betray me, right?” He bites her chin gently and she laughs. “So, I’m sure you didn’t call me at midnight on our wedding day so I could play with Jax, not that I’m complaining, you’re such a good boy.”
Lena sits at the end of the bed and motions for Kara to do the same. Jax climbs out of her hold as soon as he’s near the bed, choosing to snuggle against one of the pillows.
“So what’s wrong?”
“Aren’t you scared?”
The way Lena looks at her makes her understand. Lena’s terrified she might change her mind. Lena looks almost broken, even after she tried so hard to be on her side as Lena put herself back together.
“I’m terrorized.” Kara reaches for her hand, laces her finger together and kisses each one of her knuckles. “But I also can’t wait to make this with you.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Kara throws her arm around Lena’s shoulder, a forehead gently coming to rest against her shoulder.
“I’m sorry you had to come through the window.”
“Maggie is going to freak out when she finds out.”
“What will happen if you grow tired of me? Or worse, what if I get tired of you?”
“First one, never going to happen. Second one, only if my abs disappear, which, please, we all know won’t happen any time soon.”
Lena snorts. It’s enough to ease the ache on Kara’s chest, to know that she can maybe the woman laugh even when she doubts herself.
“I’m serious, Lena! You love them!”
“No, I love you.”
“That’s good, since, you know, rest of our lives and all.”
“You’re going to outdate me so much.”
“I don’t want to think about it.”
Kara presses her thumb against Lena’s palm a little harder and lets out a long, loud sigh.
“I don’t wanna lose you.” Kara admits; voice barely above a whisper as she feels the hot tears at the corner of her eyes. “I don’t know what is going to happen if I lose you. I’m never- I’ll never be prepared for the day it happens.”
“Me either.”
“But I can’t spend another day without calling you my wife.”
“We’re going to make this work, right?”
“Yes.”
**
Lena stayed still while Kara stared back at her. Lena was nothing but wide eyes and breathe caught in her throat and Kara could hear the silence lingering between the two of them.
Kara’s mouth hanged open, heart pounding against her rib cage, and, if the room was silent before, it sure wasn’t anymore.
Because Kara could hear Lena’s heartbeat matching hers; she could hear the thoughts running through Lena’s head; she could hear the whimper already threatening to leave her lips.
The big words had just come out from Lena. And, suddenly, Kara was no longer afraid of being the only one too invested in something, since this time, Lena was there with her.
It felt so natural, as if they had already shared the words so many times before.
It felt so natural, as if Lena was asking her what she wanted for dinner.
It felt so unnatural, as if Lena was back in the first time they had kissed, tentative fingers crawling against her cheek and thoughts spilled before minds could stop them.
Kara wanted to hear them again.
Kara wanted to hear them forever.
“Oh God.” Lena said once Kara showed no reaction. “I said that out loud, didn’t I?”
“You love me?”
“Oh God.”
Hands covered wide eyes as she tried to sit up and slip away from Kara’s hold, but Kara didn’t let her.
They sat up on the couch, Kara doing her best at making Lena face her once again. And their fingers laced together, their eyes met and Lena Luthor honestly blushed under her gaze.
“Are you in love with me?”
A nod. Followed by a fainted I shouldn’t but I am.
Kara laughed. A laugh that carried the weight previously set on her chest; a laugh that eased the ache on her heart. Lena didn’t take it that way.
“It makes everything so much easier, because I am very, very, very much in love with you, Lena Luthor.”
Kara lowers the book in her hands in order to watch Lena in nothing more than boy shorts and a tank top rolled up until under her breasts.
Past eleven pm on a Saturday night, Lena stands in front of a full body mirror, right hand resting against her lower stomach and left hand making sure the shirt won’t fall back into place. And Kara watches her, with pure wonder in her eyes and this warm feeling in her chest.
“Babe,” Kara calls her. Their eyes connect through the mirror and Lena smiles. “Not that I’m complaining, but, what are you doing?”
“Well” Lena lets her shirt back into place and goes up to bed with Kara. Lena’s thighs find their usual position just outside of Kara’s, while her hands go to the back of her neck. Kara’s book lost in the middle of her hurry to reach her wife’s waist. “It’s been a week; I can technically be pregnant right now.”
Kara smiles, hands coming to a stop at Lena’s front, and she let her thumbs dip just enough under the boy shorts.
“The doctor also said not to get our hopes too high because it can not work at the first try.”
“But we will try again if it doesn’t work, right?” Kara kisses her instead of answering, Lena doesn’t seem to mind. “And there’s always adoption.”
“Oh, we’re adopting no matter what. That’s a fact.”
“You’re thinking about kids, like, more than one. Is there something you want to share, Miss Danvers?”
“First of all, it’s Mrs. Danvers-Luthor for you.” Can’t believe you convinced me to put a hyphen on it. “And second of all, yes, I’ve made that pretty clear before we married, there’s no escape now.”
They lean in, Kara’s hands coming to Lena’s back as she flips them over, lowering Lena down and kissing the curve of her jaw.
Just as Kara finds a comfortable position to settle down her hips in between Lena’s legs, she hears her name followed by a chuckle and hands pushing her shoulders.
“What?” The whine earns a laugh from her wife.
“We’re not going to have sex with your dog staring at us.”
And sure enough, the year old German Shepherd is sitting by the side of the bed, eyes on the two women.
“Can you, at least, call him by his name?”
“No, because he always takes it as an invitation to get on the bed.”
“He does not! Jax is a good boy, I trained” Kara’s cut off when an almost eighty pound dog lays half on top of her and Lena. He wriggles around, until he’s lying with his back to the mattress and head under the pillows. “Maybe I didn’t train him that well. Where’s Krypto?”
“Sleeping. On his bed. As Jax should be doing.”
“You don’t need to brag about it.”
Kara lies down completely, head against Lena’s chest and fingers curling on the thin tank top.
After a couple of minutes, Lena nudges her side.
“Honey, I love you, but it’s getting hard to breath.”
“Are you calling me fat?”
“Yes.”
Her head comes up so she can stare at green playful eyes. She pouts, Lena kisses her.
“I can’t actually go to my side of the bed since one of our sons is there, but we can cuddle and call the other one to join us? Family night!”
“We’re going to need a bigger bed if you’re going to make this a regular occasion. A bed only fits a certain amount of kids, moms and dogs.”
“Agreed.”
Kara settles down on her side, open arms to Lena nuzzle against her, and as she wraps her arms around her, she looks at Krypto coming to lie by their side, and she knows.
It doesn’t matter how much Lillian influenced Lena.
There is no Lillian in Lena.
