20240531: the History of LEGO Castle day 152. 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack (2007, 630 pieces, 189 different parts) Skeleton Ship Attack is composed of two sections; a light and dark bluish gray castle wall manned by crown soldiers and a black and red ship with a skeleton sail. There are seven minifigures in this set. -The first minifigure has a metallic silver pike helmet, a yellow minifigure head with brown rectangular eyebrows, vertical cheek lines, a chin dimple line, a reddish brown quiver, a dark blue torso with light bluish gray arms and yellow hands with a silver scale mail print and gold crown along the collar and a reddish brown belt, with light bluish gray legs with a black belt. This minifigure has a reddish brown crossbow. -Another of the new Castle knights has a metallic silver axe wielder helmet, a yellow minifigure head with messy brown bangs and a square goatee and mustache, a dark blue torso with light bluish gray arms and yellow hands with a silver scale mail print and gold crown along the collar and a reddish brown belt, with light bluish gray legs with a black belt. This minifigure carries a pearl light gray spear. -The last non-undead minifigure has a metallic axe wielder helmet, a yellow minifigure head with a white beard, eyebrows, and sideburns, a dark bluish gray torso with dark blue arms and yellow hands with a silver scale mail print and a reddish brown belt and cross-torso belt, and dark bluish gray legs with a black belt. Accessories for this minifigure include a pearl light gray sword. -This set includes four skeletons, with a white minifigure head with red circular eyes and a scowl, a white skeleton body with 90 degree mechanical "droid" arms, and individual bone legs. One of the skeletons also has a light bluish gray beard and a black pirate bicorne hat. New and unique parts for this set include: -The black viking boat hull, black 8x16x2.33 boat hull, black 8x10 dragon wings with glow-in-the-dark marbling, and dark bluish gray tattered cloth sail with skeleton print are unique to this set. -The black 2x2x20 mast was only found in one other set, 7075 Captain Redbeard's Pirate Ship. -The dark red 1x5x4 inverted arch was only found in four sets, 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack, 41075 Elves' Treetop Hideaway, 70738 Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty, and 75341 Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder. -The dark red 1x2x2.66 window frame was only found in four sets, 4768-1 and 4768-2 Durmstrang Ship and Durmstrang Ship Target Exclusive, 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack, 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress, and 852293 Giant Chess. -The pearl light gray and dark green marbled 2x4x6 rock panel was only found in four sets, 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack, 8813 Battle at the Pass, 8822 Gargoyle Bridge, and 8823 Mistlands Tower. -The glow-in-the-dark dinosaur tail was only found in six sets, 4958 Monster Dino, 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack, 7199 Temple of Doom, 7771 Angler Ambush, 7775 Aquabase Invasion, and 8894 Piraka Stronghold. -The reddish brown 1x8 modified catapult was only found in nine sets. -This set introduces the round dark bluish gray shield with a silver skull and border on a dark red background and the light bluish gray triangular shield with medium blue and dark blue checkered pattern with gold crown in the center, and the marbled trans purple electric zigzag. LEGO Halloween and Spooky sets

I had hoped I would be able to start posting every day again for Halloween but that just didn't happen, as life tends to get in the way. So instead, I will share my research for all things Spooky or Halloween related: The main "spooky" lines are Monster Fighters from 2012 (with nine sets and four polybags), Scooby Doo from 2015-2016 (with five sets and one polybag), and the Hidden Side from 2019-2020 (with 21 sets, two polybags, and nine foil packs).

2007-2009 was the Fantasy Era castle series, which included 11 sets of minifigures versus trolls (5614, 5615, 5618, 7036, 7037, 7038, 7040, 7041, 7048, 7078, 7097), eight set of minifigures versus skeletons (7009, 7029, 7079, 7090, 7091, 7092, 7093, 7094), 1 chess set of minifigures versus skeletons (852001), three minifigure versus trolls battle packs (852271, 852701, 852702), one battle pack of minifigure skeletons (852272), one minifigure versus the undead tic tac toe game (852132), and one giant chess set of minifigures versus trolls AND skeletons (852293).

In 2010, the Collectible MiniFigure (CMF) series 14 (71010) was all "spooky" elements which included a wolf guy, zombie pirate, monster scientist, wacky witch, plant monster, specter, zombie cheerleader, tiger woman, gargoyle, skeleton guy, monster rocker, zombie business man, banshee, square foot, and spider lady. Other "spooky" minifigures could the zombie from CMF 1 in 2010 (8683), the zombie Captain America from 2021 Marvel CMF series (71031), the zombie dancer, slime singer, and vampire bassist from 2021's Vidiyo Bandmates (43108), the cute little devil and the spooky boy from CMF 16 in 2016 (71013), and the spooky girl from CMF 12 in 2014 (71007). Additionally, there have been several Build A Minifigure (BAM) minifigure elements at LEGO stores throughout the years, including a Halloween Trio from 2018 (BAM2018-3) and Halloween Minifigures from 2020 (BAM2020-3).

LEGO has several Minecraft sets which fall into the mildly spooky realm, including the Zombie Cave (21141), Big Fig Pig with Baby Zombie (21157), Pumpkin Farm (21248), and the Steve, Zombie, and Pig Foil Pack (662101), as well as a Minecraft BrickHeadz Zombie (40626). LEGO produced four Ghostbuster sets (10274, 21108, 75827, 75828), four Dimensions sets (71228, 71233, 71241, and 71242), and one BrickHeadz (41622).

Some of the sets not part of main themes include the Belville Witch's Cottage from 1999 (5804), the Studio's Vampire's Crypt from 2002 (1381), the Adventure Designer Kit from 2013 (20214), the Haunted House from 2020 (10273), and the Ideas Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sisters' Cottage (21341).

Additionally, LEGO has produced a variety of smaller, holiday builds for things like pumpkins, monsters, shops, and accessory kits. You can find most of those builds by going to places like Rebrickable or BrickLink and using key search terms such as Halloween, pumpkin, witch, vampire, monster, witch, etc., which will give you a long list of Halloween-related builds (3047, 3731, 7831, 7832, 7836, 10696, 11003, 31038, 40012, 40013, 40014, 40020, 40021, 40032, 40055, 40070, 40090, 40104, 40122, 40203, 40260, 40272, 40351, 40422, 40423, 40493, 40497, 40562, 40570, 40608, 561410, 561610, 561910, 850487, 850936, 853607, 854049).

20240518: the History of LEGO Castle day 139. 8874 Battle Wagon (2005, 130 pieces, 60 different parts) Battle Wagon is a mostly black and dark red wagon pulled by a black horse with a dark red battle helmet and a dark red harness on reddish brown 4x4 circle bricks. The wagon itself has one large black 1x5x7.5 rectangular door on each side and the second story has dark gray 1x2x3 slopes holding up a reddish brown 1x8 plate with bucket catapult. The three minifigures for this set include the upgraded Rascus and two shadow knights. -Rascus has a green full face visor on a dark green helmet, a yellow minifigure head with black bangs and a black straight line goatee, a plain green torso with black hands, green armor with a gold monkey, and green legs with a dark green belt. Rascus carries a white triangular shield with a gold monkey on a green background and a flat dark gold angular sword. This version of Rascus is found in three sets (8801 Knights Attack Barge, 8874 Battle Wagon, and 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress) and the three versions of the Knights Kingdom table top game (218066 Das Spiel in German, 218141 Le Jeu in French, and 218158 Multi-Language). -The two shadow knights have a black angled cheek protection helmet, a yellow minifigure head with thick black "v" forehead print with space between the beard and sideburns, a black torso with dark red arms and black hands, a black scorpion on a dark red background, and black legs with a dark red belt, and each carries a black halberd. New and unique parts for this set include: -The dark red horse hitching harness and the green horse battle helmet are both unique to this set. -The trans clear plastic scorpion banners were only found in four sets, 8802 Dark Fortress Landing, 8874 Battle Wagon, 8876 Scorpion Prison Cave, and 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress. -The black 1x5x7.5 rectangular stockade door was only found in five sets, 6088 Robber's Retreat, 7419 Dragon Fortress, 8823 Mistlands Tower, 8874 Battle Wagon, and 8894 Piraka Stronghold. -The dark red horse helmet is found in five sets, 8777 Vladek Encounter, 8779 Grand Tournament, 8874 Battle Wagon, 851499 Chess, and 852001 Chess. -The pearl light gray 1x1 rocket was only found in five sets, 8101 Claw Crusher, 8108 Mobile Devastator, 8874 Battle Wagon, 8875 King's Siege Tower, and 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress. -The dark bluish gray lance is only found in seven sets, 4997 Transport Ferry, 7038 Troll Assault Wagon, 8781 Castle of Morcia, 8874 Battle Wagon, 9762 First LEGO League Challenge 2005 Ocean Odyssey, 10134 Y-Wing Attack Starfighter, and 10144 Sandcrawler. -The reddish brown 1x8 plate with catapult bucket was found in nine sets, 7019 Viking Fortress Against Fafnir Dragon, 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack, 7040 Dwarves Mine Defender, 7041 Troll Battle Wheel, 7094 King's Castle Siege, 8813 Battle at the Pass, 8823 Mistlands Tower, 8874 Battle Wagon, and 70403 Dragon Mountain. -Royal blue / blue violet parts for this set include: 4x1 wave left flag. Parts inventory for this set can be found on BrickLink or Rebrickable and a free download of the instructions is also available on Rebrickable under the "Instructions" tab. This set was also part of two value packs, 65824 with 8874 Battle Wagon and 8795 Lord Vladek large buildable figure and 65825 with 8874 Battle Wagon and 8875 King's Siege Tower.
