And now it’s time for something I know will get me kicked off of Twitter! lol
While I’m glad to see Marvel moving towards quality over quantity again (if not solely cause Iger put Feige on a leash), I feel like there’s one last thing they need to do; if Marvel is going to employ writers from Rick and Morty, can they please be more selective about which ones they hire?
Yeah, I know that a lot of times, getting writing gigs in Hollywood is based on clout or who you know (a.k.a. nepotism). And yeah, I get that hiring people who worked on a show that deals with multiverse shenanigans on the regular sounds good in theory. The problem is that Marvel hasn’t exactly picked the cream of the crop, have they?
At best, they’re arrogant and idiotic, like Michael Waldron. At worst, they’re obnoxious and immature, like Jessica Gao. Jeff Loveness seems to be the most mature of the bunch, but based on what I’ve heard about Quantumania (which I haven’t seen, yet), he might suffer from “wokeitis” and “tonal whiplash”, you know, the signs of a mediocre writer.
Bottom line, I think Marvel needs to consider a writers credentials before giving them the keys to a specific group of characters. But that’s just me.

I hate this one thing in my art, but i've seen other people do the same thing in their art and I love it
And then I realized, I don't hate the thing: im just scared of people who do hate the thing so much so that I hate my art out of fear
So starting today I'm gonna make a change:
Im not gonna change my art because others don't like it. that's not improvement, its a form of conditioning via fear. If I'm gonna work to improve my stuff it has to be out of my own will and want to do so based on what I think looks good.
I literally only hate my art because I'm scared of other peoples opinions. So like, fuck that.
Ok, mini rant over.
#leave people who draw a certain way you dont like alone#youre not helpful ypure just mean#seriously you dont know the effect some of that stuff has on artists#and like arttips/constructive critisism doesnt equal being a dick#so if you like giving people legitamite help than youre fine#just let people draw how they want to draw#its supposed to be fun not stressful#jpspeaks#delete later maybe

So in the wake of Marvel being (rightfully) criticized for overworking and underpaying the VFX workers that work for them, I think I’ve figured out a way to fix their problem; employ more practical effects artists.
Don’t get me wrong, I realize practical stuff doesn’t always look as seamless as CG. But it would cut down on the amount of work the VFX crews do. Plus it would allow for the CG to look better. And we have seen practical effects on display in the MCU before (like the make-up for Zombie Strange), so the skill is there to pull it off.
This is why I think (aside from him being a perfect fit to direct and/or write a Doctor Strange film) Del Toro would be a great fit to direct for Marvel. He only likes to use CG when it’s absolutely necessary, and relies heavily on practical effects and props. Something that can be seen on display in a lot of his films and even The Strain (which works to that shows benefit, in my opinion).
And yeah, it might cost them some extra cash. But what’s the alternative? Continue abusing your VFX employees till they’ve had enough and go on strike? Mark my words, either something breaks or something changes but it needs to happen and soon.
