There is some sort of special fucked up to the idea of wanting to die for so long but suddenly being shown how to live through someone else, they grow to be the reason you keep going only to be ripped away. They give you a chance to continue living but at the cost of a life without them. Why would I want to live without you? But you can't die, it would dishonor their gift to you, so you're left with a life you don't know how to live and every single thing reminds you of them but it only hurts to remember. You keep living, though. It's what they'd want after all.
