————
“Is there places you want to go to?” He asks while driving with both his hands on the wheel.
You and Dohyun were on another date, this time going to an amusement park. You had written a list of things you wanted to do with your partner and they converted that into chits. You knew Dohyun’s suggestions were also in the chit box. The staff gave you a box to pick a piece of paper from, that is what you would be doing today. Lee Do Hyun being the gentleman he is, he let you pick. You picked one of your own chits which said ‘a date to an amusement park”
The bad part was, you weren’t too thrilled, you weren’t a big fan of amusement parks, now that you know its Dohyun, you also know he isn’t a big fan of amusement parks either.
“Oppa will take you everywhere you want to go, let’s go” he says playfully while driving.
“What oppa, I’m 3 months older” you smack his arm playfully.
“What? When is your birthday? Nuna?” You laugh out loud at the hilariousness of it all.
“Its 6th January”
He lets out an “aah” sound like he realised something.
“So nuna…” he starts teasingly
“Yah!” You smack his driving arm playfully and he decides to play along by acting like he’s losing control of the car because of the hit.
“You’re gonna get us killed” you joke. The mood in the car was light, just like how you wanted.
You had packed some sandwiches for the both of you. You pulled it out getting a little hungry because you hadn’t had breakfast yet.
He eyes your sandwich and pouts. You notice that.
“I have one for you too, are you hungry?” You ask and suddenly his face brightens up.
You giggle at that and mutter “cute” under you breath.
You open his sandwich and go to feed him but he holds out his hand instead. It was very awkward.
“Im sorry” you quickly apologise and hand it to him.
“Were you gonna feed it to me?” He asks giggling.
“I wasn’t thinking, its just easier with both hands on the wheel” you say in attempts to defend your dumbass move. You were so embarrassed you start looking out the window.
“Feed it to me” he says and your head turns to him at that.
“No, no its okay, its too weird”
“This is how we break the awkwardness y/n” he says and hands his sandwich back to you.
He opens wide and you couldn’t even meet his eyes, you look away while shoving the sandwich in his face, you just wanted this to be over, you were red with embarrassment.
The car stops at a red light and he looks over. “Look at me, you’re shoving food up my nose” he says acting annoyed.
You do exactly that again looking at him straight in the eye. That makes him giggle too.
You finally reach the amusement park, luckily it wasn’t too crowded because it was a weekday, but wearing heels was definitely not the correct choice. You could already feel the pain that you would experience at the end of today.
You walk around for a bit, you end up getting some cotton candy.
“Do you like rollercoasters?” He asks you, you shake your head while you munch on cotton candy.
“Do you want some?” You offer to him and he ends up taking the biggest bite known to man. Half of your cotton candy has disappeared.
“YAH LEE DO HYUN” he chuckles and take off running. You end up chasing him for cotton candy.
“Stop stealing my fo-“
Thud.
You fall on your face. It wasn’t a pretty site but you’ve been trained on how to handle these situations. You end up giggling and sitting pretty because a camera was always following you.
“Are you okay?” You could hear concern in his voice as he rushes to you to help you up.
You look at the broken heel.
“I knew it, I had a bad feeling” you say as you take his hands and try to stand straight.
“Are you sure you’re not hurting anywhere?” He asks meanwhile all you could focus on was your wasted cotton candy. You stare at the cotton candy on the floor, now dirty and inedible.
“My cotton candy is ruined” you say sounding genuinely sad and that makes him laugh out loud.
“Ill buy you another one” he says softly while trying to get you to the closest bench to take a seat.
He examines you feet for scratches and turns so his back is facing you.
“Hop on” he was going to give you a piggyback ride. No way.
“No, no, Im fine to walk” you argue but he insisted harder.
“We’ll go to the souvenir store and get you some flipflops cmon” he said patting his back indicating you to get on it.
You give in and gently put your arms around his neck and feet around his waist. Are you dreaming? What has your life come to? These kind of questions wonder in your mind.
“Am I heavy?” You ask him feeling guilty he has to carry you, but it makes great tv and both of you know that.
He suddenly acts weak and acts like you’re too heavy acting like he’s losing balance.
“Yah Lee Dohyun” you complain shaking his shoulders.
“You’re gonna fall again if you keep that up” he says and you stop.
The walk to the souvenir store was about 5 minutes, you could see all the rides and the places at the amusement park. You were excited but you were also scared of rides. You were mentally preparing yourself to go on them.
“You have to get me more cotton candy please” you say and he sticks out his pinky finger saying
“I promise”
You intertwine your pinky finger with his and stamp it.
“Tell me one thing, if you don’t like rollercoasters, why did you pick it as a date venue?”
You were embarrassed again, the second time today. “I’m not sure, couples look cute on amusement park dates”
He chuckles at that. “Today is going to be eventful” he says as he goes into the store and he still hasn’t put you down.
“Put me down”
“Its too dirty”
You point at a purple slipper and he had to squat to get it. That really wears him out you hear him groan.
“Yah put me down if its hard” you say and try to wiggle out.
“Its not” you could hear his laboured breathing but you couldn’t slip out successfully.
He eventually puts you on a chair and slides on the flip flops like you’re Cinderella. You couldn’t tell if it was for the cameras or not but you didn’t mind it.
“Thanks” you say to him before getting back on your feet.
“You owe me cotton candy” you say as you skip ahead to the store. He chuckles shaking his head.
While you get cotton candy, you hear a rollercoaster right above you. It was finally the time to go on these rides, what you actually came here for.
“Loser rides this” you say pointing at the rollerscoaster that just passed over you head. You could see him gulp.
“Rock paper scissors” you do a surprise attack.
You pull out a rock.
You sink to the floor. Its always the ones that suggest such ideas.
He had pulled out paper. He won. You had to ride the roller coaster.
“Trial round, lets go again once please” you beg him while you were on the floor. He says nothing and only walks to the part where you watch the rollercoaster laughing so loudly like he was a villian in a disney movie.
“Bye y/n” he says without turning back to look at you.
“Such a jerk” you say jokingly and stand in the queue for the rollercoaster. You were terrified, it looks dangerous. All the loops and the turns freaked you out.
“You’re dead if I die, Lee Do hyun” you yell out for him to hear.
“Sure” he responds as loudly and sarcastically.
You somehow get on the ride and finish it. It was horrible. You suddenly remembered why you don’t like rollercoaster. You were nauseous and dizzy. You genuinely thought you were going to die.
You walk towards the bench dohyun was sitting on and decide to do another surprise attack as soon as you are in 3 meters radius from him.
“Rock paper scissors” you yell suddenly and thw trick works. You won with rock this time and immediately jumped into a celebration dance.
“Lets go! You’re turn bye Dohyunah”
You hear him groan and hang his head. He was forced to ride the viking. It looked thrilling. All you could hear was do hyun shrieking throughout. You laughed everything you heard a scream. It was hilarious to you.
When he got off all you heard was “you’re dead” from him.
You have a lot of fun watching him and eating the rest of your cotton candy. He gets off the ride and walks towards you.
“I’m going to puke” you immediately try to get away from him while he puts in hands on your shoulders and acts like he’s going to puke on you. You try to push him off almost screaming not to puke on you.
“Lee do hyun, don’t do it, don’t do it” you warn, squirming.
He stops acting and pulls away. “Gotcha” he says and takes away the last piece of cotton candy in your hand and stuffs it in his.
“Lee Do hyun, compensate my cotton candy now” you yell while he kept walking away.
“Compensate?” He giggles. He does end up buying you some churros.
You take some cute coupley pictures and some selfies where you force him to do a heart and look cute.
Next you go to the haunted house. You absolutely dreaded this. But you had to to make the show more interesting. You were literally working.
You slowly walk in subconsciously holding on to his arm for dear life even before entering.
It was over, you were finally out and your make up was running your hair was all over the place, you had bunched up Dohyuns shirt in your fist at his torso. Your knuckles were white. It was horrible, you definitely cried.
You sink to the floor as soon as you get out. “I’m never doing that again”
—-
You were now in his car, covered in cameras so you throw up a peace sign and strike a pose while he gets into the drivers seat.
You turn on the radio meanwhile, it blares somi’s new song, but you immediately turn it down.
“Why did you turn it down, she was “dumb dumb”ing, i love that song” dohyun complains.
“Wont it get copyrighted?” You look over at him with eyes wide.
It strikes him and makes an Oshape with his lips, agreeing that you’re right.
“Whats your type?”
“I like clingy girls, its cute”
“Lee do hyun!” You whine out of no where, clinging to his bicep, making jokes. He burst out in laughter.
“I think we should give each other nicknames, what do you like to call someone you love?”
“I’ve done baby before, but what if its something only we can call each other?”
“Did you have something in mind?” He asks looking over at you in the passenger seat. He looked perfect.
“Do-do” You immediately spit out like you’ve given it thought all your life and now was your turn to say it.
“That was fast, someone’s been thinking about me” this makes the blood rush to your cheek. That maybe true.
“Im gonna call you snowflake”
If you had coffee, you could've spit it out.
“Why?”
“Cause we met in the snow”
A big smile creeps up your face. It was cute.
“What about my type, will you not ask me back?” You say trying to change subject.
“I know your type, its me” he brags and earns himself a playful smack to his bicep and some giggles.

Sweet Home Imagines : 01
☆ Lee Eunhyuk x fem!Reader ☆
masterlist
Crying.
That's all you could do since two hours ago.
You're too scared. You're alone in this world. In a strange world that you never imagined will become a reality.
"Drink it."
Someone's voice next to you made you look up. With puffy eyes, you looked at him. The man with glasses crouched down to be at eye level with you who was sitting on the stairs.
"You can join the others in the gathering room. I'll ask Eunyu to accompany you later."
He stood up and was about to leave after placing a bottle water next to you. However, you held his hand, causing the man suddenly stop and look at you.
"Can I come with you?" you asked.
You could see that the man was looking at you in surprise. But he quickly neutralized his expression back to normal.
"Okay."
Finally you got up from your place and followed his steps.
When passing through the corridor which is the gathering place for the residents of this apartment, you suddenly look down. You were too afraid to respond to the various looks they gave you.
"Come on."
You only looked up when this man took you into a room with a CCTV monitor screen and an old sofa in the corner of the room.
"This is the CCTV room. No one comes here except me and certain people."
You nodded slightly at his explanation.
"You can rest on the sofa while I do my work," said that man.
Your eyes watch the movements of the man who is now sitting in front of the monitor screen. He looks very focused, as if he immediately forgot about your existence in this room.
Your gaze now looks to the other side. With slow steps you went towards the sofa. You sat and stared blankly at the view in front of you which was the man's back.
As the seconds pass by, your eyes start to feel heavy. You suspect this is the effect of fatigue after a day of running away from the terrible creatures you encounter and also because after all this time you can finally feel the softness of the sofa you're currently sitting on.
Until finally you actually fall asleep on the sofa.
---------------------------------
You didn't know how long you have been asleep, until when you open your eyes you saw an empty room. You stare at the chair which has now been abandoned by its owner somewhere.
You looked down when you realized that there was a plaid shirt covering you. You remember that this shirt is the same as the one worn by the man with glasses before.
"Already up?"
The voice sounded at the same time as someone who had just entered the room.
"How long have I been sleeping?" you asked while changing you position to sitting.
"About 3 hours. It's dinner time now, take it."
"Uh... thanks." You accept the bowl of food from him.
He nodded then walked back to his seat in front of the monitor.
You noticed that his shirt was still in your lap. You cleared your throat slowly.
Your sigh succeeded in making him turn his chair to face you. "Um, this.. is yours?" you said showing his shirt.
"Yes. Just wear it if you feel cold." He turned his chair back towards the screen.
"Who are you? I mean, what's your name?"
Finally, you can ask questions that have been languishing in your head since beginning. Since this afternoon, as soon as you managed to set foot on the ground floor of Green Home Apartment, this man was the first to greet you at the bottom of the stairs. As if he already knew that you were coming. But now you know that this man must have noticed your arrival through the monitor screen.
"My name is Lee Eunhyuk. I was the one who made the announcement yesterday, so that the residents could come to the first floor to protect themselves from monsters."
You suddenly remembered the male voice coming from the building speakers. No wonder he sounded familiar when he spoke.
"Thank you, Eunhyuk," you said smiling sincerely.
"It's nothing. I should be the one thanking you," Eunhyuk replied.
You looked at him confused. "What for?" you asked.
"Thank you for surviving and fighting to get here. I'm really grateful that you're still alive, (Name)."
The curve of your lips is appeared again. Your heart feels warm knowing that someone cares about you. In fact, he is a stranger you have never knew before.
Wait.
Your smile slowly faded, as a question emerged in your head.
"How do you know my name?"

SAVIOUR
PAIRING : Yandere Jimin x Reader
SUMMARY : Because dead doesn’t mean gone.
WARNINGS : Mature language, Yandere Themes, , Misogynistic Behavior, Implied and Mentioned Sexual Activity, Violence, Toxic Mindsets, Implied and Detailed Death and Murder, Religious Themes, Mentions of Occult, Ignorance of Mental Health, Nightmares, Implied Domestic Abuse, Talks of Death and Afterlife, Religious Blasphemy, Heavy Manipulation etc.
THIS ONE CONTAINS PRETTY HEAVY THEMES. IT IS NOT MY INTENTION TO MOCK OR DISRESPECT ANY RELIGION. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT EVERY RELIGION TEACHES US TO LOVE FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS AND SPREAD PEACE. THIS IS NOT AN ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF RELIGION.
Lastly,
I do not own BTS. This in, no way, reflects their real personalities. The only reason they have been mentioned is to indicate the physical appearance of a FICTIONAL character.
My intention is not to glorify toxic behavior nor do I believe BTS member would ever act like this. It’s just a figment of my imagination. Know the difference. Please.
HIS giggles reverberated against the high-domed ceilings, patterned with paintings from the Renaissance Period. His squeaky shoes made sounds with each step he took, making him laugh. Small eyes crinkled as he smiled, his sweet face enough to make a despairing man believe in life, gain hope. Small legs walked towards me, arms outstretched, reaching for me. I waited for him to reach my arms, embrace me in the warmest hug. A happy ‘Mamma!’ squeaking past smiling lips.
He was just about to reach me. He had become naughty ever since he had turned five. Just as he was about to move past the first row of church pews, he stepped back, laughing at my disappointed face.
But naughty as he was, he loved me. Couldn’t bear to see me sad. As my lips turned down in a frown and I dropped my head, he made an inquisitive sound and began running in my direction again, small steps carrying him to me.
“Mrs Lee, are you okay?”
He wasn’t there anymore. Small face and ringing laughter became a phantom. The sunlight that had illuminated my beautiful boy went with him and I was brought harshly back to the reality.
Bleak weather drowned the church into blankets of darkness. I drew my moist eyes away from the empty front of the church, the statue of our Lord, the one who died for our sins, the ever gracious savior the only thing there.
Turning my head, I was greeted by the sight of Mrs Min, her face too bathed in shadows. Her old, wrinkly face held a look of kind concern. I incline my head to greet her.
Both her and I knew that she would get no answer to her question.
I had not been okay ever since my only light in this bleak world, my Inhun, had abandoned me.
Regardless, I was thankful for her concern. This small town had only a handful of occupants and even lesser stepped into this small, dilapidated church. I try to give her a small smile, stretching my face into a semblance of a smile, skin stretching uncomfortably and facial muscles feeling unused.
She looked on for a moment and almost seemed like she wanted to say something but decided against it. She leaves, back hunched and the cane in her aged hands her only support.
I stare off into space. The only thing I was capable of doing these days.
The church was empty and the sun was coming down. It was time to head home. Dohyun would be done with treating the soil by now and it would be yet another night of screaming if he didn’t find dinner ready.
I get up, bunching my grey dress in my fists. My eyes fall upon a pair of spectacles lying upon the floor, their distinctive red frame immediately belying it’s owner. Picking it up, I put it in my empty brown satchel, vowing to return it to Mrs Lee as soon as I had time.
Turning around, my gasp echoes in the otherwise quiet place. Contrary to my previous assumption, the place was not empty.
A man sat on the last pew, in the extreme right corner. Dressed in black, I wondered if he was mourning. Pale skin, almost sickly looking, contrasted with his thick black coat. The only thing darker than the color of his clothing in the church was his eyes.
Dark, as if kohl had been smeared around them, with sooty black eyelashes and staring right at me.
I look away and walk forward, the thin wires of Mrs Lee’s spectacles clutched tight in my fist.
Even after averting my eyes, they slide right back to the strange man. As I drew closer, I couldn’t help but notice the cross hanging from his neck. Thin silver chains hold a jewel studded cross, hung upside down from his long, pale neck.
My catholic upbringing couldn’t ignore a blasphemous upside down cross in a church and I point it out as I walk past.
“Sir, your cross is upside down.” Hoping he would turn it to it’s original position since it looked like it might have been worn wrong or gotten tangled.
His gaze locks on me and I do not have it in me to look into such dark eyes. The eyes itself are so dark that the pupil is not discernable. The eeriness further exacerbated by long, messy hair partially shielding them from view.
As I hurry past, I catch a quirk of thick lips and glint of red in those dark pits.
Thankfully, I am back before Dohyun is.
My hands work mechanically, chopping the onion into small pieces. They are plopped into the wok simmering with soup, the spicy smell permeating into the very air I breathed. Dohyun was fond of spicy food, refusing to stop eating even when his eyes moistened with tears.
The oven beeps as he steps into the living room, his muddy jacket thrown across the sofa. It already has one too many stains on it and I wonder if I should clean it as he makes his way to the small dining table, taking a chair and digs his fingers into his shoulder muscles. It would get dirty again anyway.
“Am I always going to come home to an empty table?” His deep voice ushers me along as I hurry to set down the plate he likes to eat in. Scooping up the soup, I put it into the ceramic bowl, a few hot drops spilling on my wrist but I pay it no mind.
He digs into the food as I stand nearby.
My feet are aching but I don’t take the seat near him. He would ask for something, something he probably wouldn’t even eat and I’ll have to be up again. ‘A good wife should pay attention to her husband’s needs after he slaves the day away to feed the household.’
He points to the soup wok and I fill his bowl again. He eats with vigor, grains of rice spilling onto the scratched table, spoon too small to hold the large portion. He eats with his mouth open and I wonder if he knows that Christianity also preaches to avoid the sin of Gluttony or if he only follows the scriptures when it suits him.
I stand quietly and wait for him to finish.
His appetite sated, he moves up the creaky stairs and goes into the bedroom, his loud burp drowned out by the sound of the TV. Bringing over a small bowl of rice, I try to eat.
I sit facing the dark living room, the only light from the kitchen illuminating my Inhun as he plays with Sana. Smiling, I am filled with fondness at witnessing their interaction.
Sana mimes eating, burping like Dohyun, as Inhun bursts into laughter. She sits across from him, barely an year older than Inhun. Yet she takes the role of the elder. As her aunt and your sister, she takes care of him, pinches his chubby cheek in fondness, honey spilling from her eyes.
Inhun asks her to teach him how to mime. Sana’s smoky apparition looks pleased by this, face trying to convey happiness the only way she knows how. She puts her index finger and thumb near her mouth and makes a motion that shows she is smiling. Inhun copies this, his eyes becoming slits with his smile.
I smile with them. Atleast, they are together.
Sana is crying again.
Father is dragging her towards the door. She’s wailing, begging him not to take her to the church. They put her in a tub full of snakes, she’d told me. She’s trying to free her wrist from his grasp.
But he’s stronger. He pulls her, the hem of her small yellow dress dragging against the floor of my childhood home.
I want to help her. They hurt her there. I saw snake teeth punctures on her skin whenever she returns from there. They tell her she is evil and this is her punishment. They tell her that her blood is dirty. I don’t believe them. This is Sana. Your sweet younger sister. She likes to mime and go on swings. She isn’t evil.
And I want to help her but my feet are stuck to the floor. Father will shout at me if I help her. Father is scary.
I really want to help her but she’s going further and further away from me. I reach out but I can’t catch her. She’s leaving.
She doesn’t come back home this time.
I wake with a jolt. Sweat is streaming down my back, drenching my thin nightgown. Kicking out from under the covers, I free myself and put my feet on the floor.
It’s the same thing everyday. Dreaming of Sana or Inhun, my nights have become torturous.
“Again? I know you are doing this for attention. Just go to sleep.” Dohyun’s awakened again tonight by my cries.
Tears are slipping from my eyes, guilt wracking my frame. I am overcome by sobs spilling from my throat. My heart feels like it’s aching, ribs trying to collapse on themselves.
I turn to Dohyun and in these vulnerable moments, wish for his embrace. Even if I would despise him again as soon as dawn broke, I need the comfort of warm arms around me.
But he’s turned around now, on his side away from me. I think he’s asleep before he speaks, his thick beard hiding any movement of his mouth that can be glimpsed from the side.
“I told you to go to the church more often. Do you properly pray there? Only the Lord can save you from this craziness. I’ve given up.” He grumbles.
My feet patter down the stairs as tears blur my vision, almost falling off the last step.
The entire house is dark, dawn has yet to break. Shadows seem to almost move as I rush past the dark living room towards the front door. I need to go to him, my comfort, my light in the dark, my hope.
I breathe in the cold air as I rush outside the house into the large wheat field, running towards the edge of the property where Inhun is buried. I run in my desperation, almost stumbling thrice on my way. The soil is wet from the frequent rain and my feet feel sluggish moving in the viscous mud.
I fall over the only patch left uncultivated in the large field, throwing myself over the ground where I know he is buried. My sobs have given way to hiccups and my eyes feel sore from crying.
Laying my cheek against the wet earth, I close my eyes. This is the only way I can feel close to him. Wind whistles past my ears but I pay it no mind.
Time becomes irrelevant as I am overcome with his memories. When he was born, when he first spoke, when he went to school. The day he went out with Dohyun and came back as a corpse. My mind is filled to the brim with the memories.
I sit near his grave, my head resting on my knees.
“What are you doing here?” A voice startles me as I look around.
“Here!” It sounds again. I look over the fence of the property to the place next door and it is the strange man from church.
I get up and make a move to leave. Dressed in a thin nightgown, it wouldn’t look appropriate to be standing here with a strange man.
“Early riser, huh?” He speaks again, persistent in his effort to make conversation.
I stop and sigh. He’s probably staying in the house next door that had been empty and as my neighbor, I can’t ignore him forever.
A cocky smile is fixed upon his face as I turn to face him. The fence isn’t that far away from where I am standing.
“Something like that.” I answer his question.
He laughs. “Of course. Christians.”
Furrowing my eyebrows, I ask what he means by that.
“Don’t you people believe that the early hours is the time of the Lord?” He questions, the smirk still in place.
“Yes. And clearly you do too since you’re up early.” I say, head held high.
“No. I will go to sleep now.” He says, eyes still as dark as ever.
Are his eyes this dark because he doesn’t go to sleep on time? Probably.
“Is that why you have dark circles?” The question slips out before I can hold it in.
His lips smoothen out from the perpetual smirk, a serious look falling over his visage.
“I would ask the same of you. Or is it perhaps due to crying and having a mental breakdown over the wet ground?” He snarks, a peculiar red flashing in his eyes.
Sighing, I think to myself how fast this news would spread if he chose to gossip. As it is, I couldn’t go to the nearest market without having disdainful whispers of ‘Crazy!’ falling upon my ears.
Sick of people questioning my mental state, I school my features into a blank canvas and say in a monotonous tone,
“I was crying over the grave of my dead son.” I expect that this would shock him into silence like most people.
But it doesn’t.
“Crying? Why?” He asks, a genuinely inquisitive look on his face.
I begin to question his mental state. What does he mean why?
My confusion and annoyance must show on my face because he opens his mouth again.
“Dead doesn’t mean gone.” He shrugs and turns back around.
I am left staring at his retreating back as he slithers back into the dark house.
The entire day, I ponder over his words.
As I mop the floors, wash the curtains and prepare lunch, my head runs his words over and over like a broken record.
What did he mean by that?
By evening, I’ve reached the conclusion that the man must’ve lost someone too and this was his way of coping. Plenty of people coped by believing that their loved one lives on in them and of course there is the Christian belief of afterlife- that people live on in the other world.
As I chop the potatoes into small cubes and prepare the oven tray, the front door opens. Dohyun is back earlier than usual.
Having no interest in looking at his face, I continue cooking. The ladle slips from my hand as I hear another voice. A familiar one.
The man from the church is in my house.
I turn back around and he is bending near my feet, picking up the lady. Ignoring Dohyun’s snort of disgust and exclamation of ‘Clumsy’, I look at the man’s face.
He straightens and passes the ladle to me, smirking. I bow my head in thanks.
Dohyun comes nearer and puts his tanned hand on the other man’s shoulder, beaming.
“This is Jimin. He just moved in next door.” His double chin moves as his voice booms.
Jimin continues to look at me. His eyes still as dark as the clothes he wears now, frame almost as tall as the man next to him.
“We’ve met before.” He speaks, his eyes refusing to leave yours.
I suck in a breath. Dohyun hates it when I “act crazy” in front of other people. If he got to know about this morning, he would blow a gasket.
Maybe my pleading eyes got to him as Jimin continues, “We met in church yesterday.”
Dohyun moves Jimin towards the table as he barks out “Dinner!” at me.
I turn around and calm myself.
As I am serving the dinner, that dark gaze is on me yet again. Dohyun is busy with filling his plate when I place Jimin's bowl in front of him and his fingers brush mine as picks up his chopsticks.
As I'm stepping away, I feel a foot snake around mine, almost tripping me in the process. To prevent my fall, I hold on to the table, spilling Jimin's bowl all over his shirt.
He hisses, hot soup probably causing discomfort. Giving him a look that pleads for forgiveness, I already know what's coming.
Dohyun rises up, his meaty hand slamming upon the table. The dishes rattle as he glowers at my face.
I cower within myself.
He's hit me in the past and I wouldn't be surprised if he repeated himself. He hated being embarassed in front of others.
"There you go again! Can you do anything correctly? I'm go-" He is cut off by the man besides me who moves towards the red-faced monster who seems to be spitting fire, his face red with fury.
Jimin squeezes Dohyun's shoulder and looks deeply into his eyes, speaking in a calm voice, as if to lull him into a daze.
"It's okay. I can change. Show me to the washroom." He leads the way as Dohyun stands there for a moment, his face blank and eyes empty.
It's eerie.
He follows shortly after.
I look down at the spilled soup and broken dish, the ceramic pieces laying haphazardly on the floor. I simply look upon it instead of making any move to clean it up, a numb haze blanketing my consciousness.
I look up only as Dohyun comes out of the guest washroom and looks at me. There is no expression on his face, he simply stares. I stare back, my mind blank.
The moment is broken as he moves his mouth and sound spills out, no intonation in his voice.
"Get Jimin a shirt."
The washroom is small and the door creaks as I push it open. It's been left in unused and though I try to clean it from time to time, it's condition isn't exactly ideal.
The single lightbulb keeps flickering, dousing the small space into darkness over and over. It's barely big enough for two people fit in so I try to plaster myself against the door as I hand Jimin a brown t-shirt.
He takes it from my outstretched hand, fingers brushing against mine. His hands are soft and wrists are covered in bracelets of all kinds. His nails are cut short and clean except for his nailbeds that seem to have dirt under them. Living in a town of farmers, it's a usual sight.
The small space is suffocating, almost pushing the two occupants closer. I look at him and a smidgen of the drowsy haze lifts. I blurt the only things that's been haunting me since this morning.
"What did you mean by that?"I speak, licking my dry lips.
His eyes follow the action, getting only darker. A flush creeps on your neck.
It's been a while since a man has looked at you like this.
He takes a moment to lift his eyes from your mouth and meet your gaze.
"What do you mean?" He whispers.
I know that he understands what exactly I'm talking about but I humor him.
"When you said that 'dead doesn't mean gone', what did you mean?" I whisper, the small sounds of out voices creating an intimate bubble around us.
Suddenly, he leans in. His face is impossibly close to mine and I can't escape his eyes. Looking into them is like looking into a dark void that is never ending. But looking closely, a red tint shines through, almost hypnotic. I wonder if it is a trick of the fluctuating lighting in the washroom.
His arm stretches past my frame and pushes the door closed. He is taller than me and as he leans, I can feel the tip of his nose brush against my hair and take an audible breath.
He moves back.
The hand that had been till now clutching the oversized t-shirt emptied itself as Jimin hung it on the towel holder. I try to take deep breaths as inconspicuously as possible. His nearness makes my dull heart throb in a way that is entirely new to me.
“What do you think happens to humans after death?” His voice breaks me out of my reverie and I begrudgingly turn my gaze in his direction again.
His elegant fingers clutch the hem of his soiled black shirt and pull it up as I ponder over his question.
I wasn’t quite sure on how to answer his question. Death was a very taboo topic in my childhood and despite seeing it around me often, nobody would answer my childish queries.
When mother had passed away, I’d asked Father where she’d gone. My 3 year old brain couldn’t grasp the reality that I could never see her again. Certainly, she’d be somewhere, right? I could see her again. Father had solemnly said that she had gone to live with God.
I had cried that night and the night that Sana had left this world. Why was God so intent on taking everyone I loved?
“I think-um, well, there is the afterlife. You either go to Heaven or Hell.” I say as he turns around to hang the soiled shirt and take the new one.
His bare back is as pale as the rest of him and smooth. Not a single blemish on him. Except for the tattoos.
Dark and ominous tattoos line the length of his spine. The very ink of the tattoos is so dark that it makes the overall effect of them ever so threatening. Looking closely, my mouth falls open in a gasp. They’re certainly a weird pattern of pictures to ink upon one’s skin. Circles, triangles, spears, skulls come together to form indiscernable shapes and pictures.
They seem to almost move as his back muscles ripple and I realise that he is laughing at my response. He pulls the t-shirt over his torso and turns around to face me.
“What’s so funny?” I inquire, frown pulling on my lips.
“Its just that-why are you so insistent on believing in something so intangible, something you’ve never seen rather than the things that are right in front of you?” He speaks, hands moving to emphasize his point.
“And what is in front of me, Jimin?” Its the first time I’ve said his name out loud. It feels peculiar on my tongue.
He’s moved closer and I can feel his breath on my lips. In the back of my mind, I’m wondering why Dohyun hasn’t called out for me yet. His impatience plagues every second of my life. So where’s he now?
The light flickers again, shrouding the washroom and us in darkness as he whispers,
“Nature. It’s right in front of us and it’s powerful. So very powerful. All you need is the knowledge of how to manipulate it, control it. It’s merciful. It grants your wishes if only you know how to plead to it.”
Inhun seems sad tonight. He sits in his favorite chair, the small wooden one. He isn’t talking to me though.
I try to cajole him. I even cook his favorite dish but he’s not eating. I make silly faces to make him laugh, hoping Sana would join. But even she stands still, unmoving.
I ask him if he would like to go out and he bursts into tears. He is inconsolable. He cries and cries. I dont know what to do. I hate it when he cries. His wails torture my ears and they get louder and louder. Suddenly, he’s shouting, tears still streaming down his face.
“I would never come back, Mama! I can’t go out. Please don’t let him take me out. He wouldn’t let me come back, Mama! Do you want that? DO YOU?!” He is screeching, his little face distraught.
Sana stands behind him and she is moving again. For a moment, I think she means to push Inhun off the chair. But then I realise she is miming.
Miming Inhun being pushed off of something.
Inhun still keeps shouting and I feel like my ears are going to bleed.
As I put my hands to cover my ears, Sana rushes to me.
She is in that yellow dress again. Father is standing behind her. She’s clutching my arm and shaking her head. Father clutches her shoulder to move her towards the door. He’s taking her again. No. No. No.
But this time, he’s taking Inhun too. He’s taking him too along with Sana. Both of them are struggling and looking back at me. Their eyes are pleading
What do I do?! They’re going to be taken.
I rush towards Father and stand in front of him.
Thunder rumbles and lightning flashes outside, dousing his face in light.
It’s Dohyun!
As the lightning flashes again, the face merges back into Father’s
I stand, unmoving. I am feeling sick. My head hurts so much.
As the light from the window douses the room into light again momentarily, I see the man’s face meld into something gruesome.
The face has Dohyun’s wide lips and Father’s hooked nose and four sets of eyes.
“Come in, come in. I’ll make some tea.” Mrs Lee rushes me inside. I take off my rain soaked boots and venture into her warm cabin. The heat from the fireplace feels euphoric after being drowned by the rain.
I shiver and thank her.
Putting down her spectacles that I’d come to drop off, I move towards the fire to get some more heat. Winter is overhead and already feels brutal.
The wood cackles as it is licked by orange flames. I rub my hands and look at the nearby bookshelf.
The wide bookshelf is filled to the brim with books, thick novels, recipe books, even a few newspapers. I walk over, browsing few titles. At the far right, my eyes fall over the spine of a small, hefty book. It’s very nondescript, no fancy cover or bold title. Yet one of the symbols on the cover catches my eye. It was on Jimin’s spine.
I push it open.
OCCULT : RITUALS AND SYMBOLS
My eyes bug open. Occultism?
I scan the table of contents and the very last that I glimpse on the page : Death and Communication.
The rattle of teacups and sound of steps lead me to push the book back in it’s place. Mrs Lee goes to church with me. If word spread that a good Christian woman perused a book related to Occult, it’d be the scandal of the century in this small town. But why does Mrs Lee, sweet, old, church lady have it?
I turn around and realise that my hurry was for naught and she’s definitely caught me scanning the book like my life depended upon it. I look bashful and feel a blush crawl over my neck but she looks just as embarrassed, if not more so.
She walks over to where I stand, faster than I’ve ever seen her walk. She takes the book from the shelf and puts it inside a drawer nearby, slamming it shut.
“I don’t when I put it here. Ah, stupid book. Can’t even throw it away. My mother’s, you know?” She rants, collapsing in the armchair.
I take a seat opposite her, mind half-distracted by what I’d seen.
“Yeah, I understand. Was your mother, um, interested in these things?”
“No, no. Well, when I was young, a shaman came to the town, you see. Everyone was very intrigued by him. We’d never seen something like what he did.”
“What did he do?”
She looks scandalized and gulps her tea hard.
“He said he could communicate with spirits and ancestors. But our family didn’t believe it! What hogwash!” She looks away.
“Certainly.”
It’s the same dream every night. I can’t stand to face Dohyun. His face is despicable. Everytime I look at it, I see Father.
He catches onto it, he does. His patience with me is running out, I can feel it. But then again, he isn’t very patient.
I stand near him, my face turned away. I cant look at him without feeling Inhun screaming in my ears. I want to cry.
He bangs the empty rice bowl onto the table.
“Can’t you see my rice is finished? Do I have to tell you to get more?” He barks, half-chewed pieces of rice and meat falling onto the table.
I cant look away. One of the big chunks of meat, there’s blood coming out of it. I remember cooking the meat well, but there’s blood. A lot of blood is seeping out.
The same way Inhun’s head bled when his corpse was brought into the house.
I can’t look away. My eyes refuse to even blink.
Distantly, I hear screaming. This time, it’s me.
Dohyun is angry with me. He’s very angry.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? Stupid bitch. Should’ve died with that bastard! Crazy!” He slams the front door after he leaves
I stand there for hours, screaming.
I stand on Jimin’s porch after rapping my knuckles against the hard wood of the front door. I can’t even feel my hands, numbed as they’ve become due to holding the hot pot filled with soup.
An excuse. I want to know more.
I haven’t been able to sleep, his face haunts me. He cries all the time. I just need to comfort him once. Just once would be enough.
The front door opens and Jimin stands in front of me, clad in a black cloak. It’s a weird outfit but I say nothing.
I put down the pot on the table as he urges me to take a seat, his hand branding my lower back through my thick sweater.
As he goes into the kitchen to put down the pot, I look around. It’s a very dark place, not brightly lit. If this is what it looks like in the evening, I can’t imagine how dark it must get during nights.
The area where I’m sitting is slightly partitioned off. I crane my neck as I hear footsteps coming nearer. I hear Jimin’s voice as soon as I glimpse half a circle inside a triangle drawn on the floor with some black powder.
I am breathing heavily as he sits down. I realize I must have lost any last shreds of sanity I had because the one second glimpse of the strange symbols ,that I saw in that book, on his floor make me excited. I can talk to him. I’ll beg Jimin to help. He has to help me.
“So, what br-” He is no longer wearing the cloak, just a black shirt and pants.
“Help me talk to my son.” I cut him off, desperation coating my rushed words.
I know I must look crazy. My hair is all over the place, clothes rumpled, eyes wide with desperation. He must take mercy on me as the next second he is sitting on his knees near me, his palms on my knees rubbing circles.
“Sweet girl, calm down.” His voice is like honey, it wraps around my chest, soothing my heart which beats like a drum.
“Please Jimin, please.” I shake, my voice trembling. I am begging him, holding his hands in a tight grip.
“Tell me, do you believe in predestination?” His words confuse me. Now is not the time for riddles.
Yet, I answer him. I’ll have to do whatever he says. He’s my only hope now.
“Y-yes, I do.”
He smiles, clearly satisfied with the answer. His eyes are intent on my face, drinking in each reaction.
“You know, I never used to. I mean, if it were true, wouldn’t it be very sad. Look around us. So many people live miserable, horrendous lives. Does that mean God decided for them to suffer? If so, why? Isn’t He ever Merciful?” He sneers, contempt written in his dark eyes.
“But now, I believe in it.” His expression changes. “I believe that sometimes life takes turns in a way that we meet certain people who change our lives. “ He is beaming now.
“Sometimes, we meet people who are our savious, our hope. They change our lives, they are meant for us. For us to have and to keep.” His eyes are unblinking and he talks so fast like he wants to get it out there, these days.
“That’s why we met each other, right? I can help you. I will help you.” He says.
I am overjoyed. He has agreed to help me! I can see Inhun again! I can comfort him.
“Ye-yes. Pl-pl-please.” My tears blur my vision as I fall against him, my sobs shaking my entire body.
After holding me for a minute, he stands up with me in his arms. I pull back and look at him.
He stands tall over me and rubs my back.
“We need his energy. Take me to where he is.”
My mouth is gaping as I stand near the desecrated grave of my beloved child.
The flowers that I put neatly in a bundle are torn, spread messily over the ground.
The ground itself is in a state of uneven disarray, as if someone had kicked and scratched all over it.
This time I do not cry. I am filled with rage.
White hot lava burns through my veins, acid pools in my stomach, and my head is buzzing.
The sky above is a mirror of my myriad of emotions. Lightning streaks across the sky and the evening darkens, fog straining my vision.
Through the foggy evening, I see the damned house in my vision. It is a representation of him, that wretched, evil man. Shoddy, old and ugly, it's sight is enough to make me breathe fire.
I belatedly realise that I'm running in its direction. My feet thump across the ground as I run towards it, stomach growling with hunger.
I am ravenous with hunger for his blood. Dohyun's blood. I will rip him to shreds and pray that Inhun forgives his Mama for letting that man get to him. He will pay for it with his worthless life.
I wrench the door open and run in to find him.
He sits in the living room, the TV blaring and illuminating the otherwise dark room.
Standing in front of him, I let my anger cloud my vision.
The blue light of the TV shines upon his face, transforming it into the monstrosity I'd seen in my dreams.
Tonight, I will take revenge for both of them. When I talk to Inhun tonight, he'll be happy to know this.
He'll giggle with happiness and everything will be right again.
Dohyun stands, screams something about me looking filthy and that I should change.
I refrain from telling him that I have changed but not physically.
I laugh at my internal musing.
He's backing away from me as I advance towards him. The lightning is falling outside and it adds on the environmental noise as I take the kitchen knife from the nearby table and charge towards him.
He's running out of the house and into the fields as I chase him. I purposely corner him towards the grave of Inhun. Both him and I would satiate ourselves tonight.
My heart is pounding in my ears. It's beating so hard that it's all I can hear. I am breathing faster than ever but I feel free as if a huge burden has been taken off my chest and I'm free to take deep breathes that fill my lungs.
I run even harder as the blood-lust takes over me.
Intimidated by my sudden enthusiasm, Dohyun looks back and in that second, he stumbles. He stumbles and falls, sideways against the mushy soil.
I reach him and before he can recover from his fall, stab him in the side. He gasps and looks up at me.
I am disgusted by his face. It looks so much like Father and it surprises me that I never noticed. I recover from this surprise and extract the blade slowly. His cries feel like heaven to me.
The blade slashes through the air again, it’s sound and his screams of terror and pain being drowned out by the pouring heavens above. I stab it into his stomach this time. He’s losing too much blood now.
As a closing act, I give my final blow to his heart with all the force I can muster, my arms shaking with exhaustion as the adrenaline bleeds away with his bulging eyes losing the light of life.
My knees give out and I kneel on the ground. I feel wetness of his blood on my face and clothes as I look up, feeling Jimin’s presence. I am overcome with thankfulness and love for him as I see him standing across the field, exactly where I’d left him. Even from this far away, I can feel his fondness and approval. It soothes me.
My saviour. My liberator.
Standing near the symbol I’d glimpsed previously, drawn upon the floor of his home, I await his instructions with giddiness.
It’s time to see Inhun.
Jimin enters the room, shirtless, his tattoos on display. He comes over to my side and I plead him with my eyes to begin the ritual.
Pushing my hair behind my ear, he looks at me and for the first time, my broken mind realizes that he looks at me with a look I now recognize.
Desperation.
Craziness.
It doesn’t scare me, though. I feel as if I’m looking into a mirror.
His nose grazes across my cheekbone as his lips land on the shell of my ear. He’s breathing hard.
“I need energy, angel. Energy of the flesh to manifest something that lacks it.” He whispers, voice raspy.
Immediately understanding what he wants, I place his hands on my breasts.
He hisses and squeezes them instantly. His hands are insistent and impatient, travelling the length of my body, as if he can’t decide where to place them.
They land on the buttons on the back of my dress as I turn around. My breath hitches as he pulls apart each button, his hands shaking. Impatient, a few of them simply fly off and clatter upon the floor as his hands clutch the material.
I push it down my shoulders and step back.
For a moment, we simply look at each other.
The smoldering gaze rips into mine as he steps closer, hands working his belt. Soon, his mouth is on my flesh and I loose all awareness of the world outside our little bubble.
As I lay upon the floor, panting, he pushes into me.
Blood is smeared onto his lips and chin from kissing my lips. It stains his perfect face. But that isn’t the only red I see.
His eyes are consumed by a color of blood red. The entirety of it is deep crimson and it stares into mine. His face twists into a sneer with pleasure and I feel the force behind his motions pushing me towards the edge I am bound to fall off of.
As he empties himself into me, I am consumed by white pleasure. I whine and shake as he gathers me into muscled arms.
I am slipping off into unconsciousness as he whispers into my ear, his voice feeling like it’s going further and further away from me.
“My beautiful angel. My perfect, beautiful angel. I’ve waited so long for you.”
I sit in front of Jimin, the drawing between us.
I sit clad in the cloak that I had seen him wear. He sits shirtless, back straight as a rod and eyes fixed on the lighted candles placed on every vertex of the triangle.
The wind blows strongly this night yet I do not shiver. Warm from his flesh permeates my body after having woken in his arms. He seemingly hadn’t moved from his position, strong arms still holding me tight.
He chants something now, his eyes closing. Suddenly, he stills. He sits, unmoving and his skin is paler than ever before.
I am moved to tears as I witness an apparition float behind Jimin, it’s appearance shadowy.
I crawl forward, arms straining with effort and I smile even though my tears stain my face. I am smiling and smiling.
He smiles too.
Inhun seems pleased with me, satisfied.
He doesn’t run into my arms nor do I try to catch him. I just try to absorb this moment, drink it in with my eyes and imprint it into my memory.
Inhun whispers,
“Thank you, Mama. I love you.” He is there no more.
He disappears and I feel Jimin’s arms wound tight around me, his chin resting upon my shoulder.
I glimpse red in Inhun’s eyes before he disappears.
thanks for giving it a read! head on over to my page to discuss, ask questions or just to give feedback.
fun fact : the picture at the very beginning is what inspired this story so i thought it only right to put it there.

The music is loud against Jeonghan’s ears as he dances with a girl he doesn’t even know the name of, not that he wants to know her name. She turns around and wraps her arms around the back of his neck, giving him a smirk. “Enjoying the view?”
Jeonghan grins, leaning in towards her ear to whisper, “Maybe.”
The unknown girl giggles at the ticklish feeling from Jeonghan’s lips, only making his smile wider as he moves closer to ask,
“Wanna get out of here?”
“Hannie! Hannie, we have to go.” Jeonghan curses at the familiar voice, turning around to see Chan with a frantic expression on his face, and that’s when he knows it’s serious. “Is it Minji?”
“It’s Minji.” Jeonghan removes himself from the stranger’s arms without another word and follows after Chan. They hurry out of the club, the cold spring night air hitting them as they walk. Jeonghan stops for a moment, looking up at the stars as he wonders what could’ve happened.
“Jeonghan! Come on!” The black haired beauty takes one last breath of the night air before rushing over to Chan’s car.
“Minji, please calm down!” Jeonghan hears as soon as he and Chan enter Minji’s house. His eyes widen when he hears a loud crash from upstairs, and he sprints up the stairs fast as he can, bursting in through her bedroom door to see Minji crying while holding a flower vase in hand. Her mom turns to look at Jeonghan helplessly, and he nods his head at her.
“Minji, look at me.” Jeonghan says softly, and she keeps her eyes trained to the floor as she clutches the vase tightly. He takes a few steps closer as Chan walks in quietly behind him, choosing to stay back since he knows Jeonghan handles these situations better. “Minji.”
It’s when she’s about to throw the vase that Jeonghan grabs her wrist to stop her, pulling her into a hug with his other arm. She freezes for a moment, before letting out a small sob into Jeonghan’s shoulder, closing her eyes as she takes in her best friend’s comforting scent. “It’s okay Minji, we’re here. Chan and I are here.”
Chan finally walks over, resting his hand on Minji’s back as she cries. He takes a glance at Jeonghan to see him with a stoic expression on his face, eyebrows slightly furrowed as the sounds of Minji’s sobs get louder.
who the fuck did this to her.
“I always knew Dohyun was a piece of shit. Can’t believe he’s already showing interest in another girl when you guys just broke up.” Chan grumbles to himself as he places his water back down. The three of them are sitting on Minji’s floor, talking about what caused her breakdown. She lets out a small sigh, running a hand through her hair, “I should’ve listened to your protests from the start. He was too charming though.”
“That’s how they get you. I mean, look at Jeonghan.” The person in question chokes on his drink, turning to look at his blonde haired best friend with a furrow to his brow.
“Why the fuck am I being brought into this?”
“He’s a charming ass guy,” Chan continues, choosing to ignore Jeonghan. “That’s how he’s able to pull in any person he shows the slightest bit of interest in. Then when he gets what he wants, poof. He’s gone.” Jeonghan chuckles, not finding it in himself to deny Chan’s explanation.
Cause he’s right.
Minji’s eyebrows furrow once an idea comes to mind, and she stands up along with the plan forming in her head. Jeonghan and Chan look at her with confused expressions on their faces, and she flashes them a small smile.
“The best type of revenge is to hurt the person that means the most to them. Correct?” The two guys nod at her, not sure where she’s going with this.
“And Chan says that Hannie is a bit of a fuckboy, right?” Jeonghan rolls his eyes at the term, opening his mouth to argue and Minji flashes him a look. He sighs, nodding his head and leaning back onto the bed frame.
“What if we have Jeonghan swoop in and take the girl Dohyun’s interested in, have her fall completely in love with our sweet, sweet Hannie. Then he breaks her heart when the task is completed, so not only will Dohyun feel sad for her, but he’ll feel guilty knowing this wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t move on so fast.” Minji says with a grin, looking at her two friends to see their reactions. Chan frowns immediately at the idea, while Jeonghan stares back at Minji with an open-mouthed smirk.
“We haven’t done anything fun like this in a while, I think it’d be cool.” Minji claps her hands in glee at his response, about to start planning the whole thing when Chan intervenes. “I don’t think this is a good idea. I understand revenge on Dohyun, but why do we have to bring the girl into it? She didn’t do anything wrong to Minji.”
“I don’t see why not. Don’t be a party pooper Chan, just help us plan it out mm?” Chan stares at his two best friends, obviously seeing he won’t be able to get through to them. He lets out a sigh, raising up his hand as a way of saying well, get along with it.
“Well what I know about this girl is that her name is yln yn. She’s a year younger than us and goes to the same uni. Apparently she and Dohyun were close when they were in high school, but lost contact when he moved.”
“So his first love basically.” Jeonghan states, and Minji nods at him. “Ding, ding, ding! You’re correct. She works at the flower shop down by that cat café near your guys’ apartment complex.”
“Sounds like you know a lot about her for someone who just got their heartbroken.” Minji slaps the back of Chan’s head and he lets out a small whine. Jeonghan chuckles as he watches Chan rub the back of his neck, glaring up at Minji.
“Have to know the enemy, don’t I?” She asks with a smirk. Jeonghan takes a sip of his water before turning towards Minji and asking, “So what’s the plan?”
She bites her lip excitedly, walking over to grab her corkboard and sticky notes. Minji turns back around with a big smile.
“Here’s what I was thinking…”
“I hope your wife enjoys the bouquet Mr. Lee!” He gives you a big smile, waving bye as he steps out of the shop. You let out a breath, feeling satisfied by another happy customer. Leaning back onto the counter, you grab your water bottle and take a sip, only to immediately choke and spit it back out into the bottle when the door chimes.
“Hi, welcome to-” The words die in your throat when you see the man who walked in. His black hair is parted down the middle, framing his delicate, but strong features. He’s wearing a white turtleneck with a beige overcoat, making it appear as if he just came out of a photoshoot.
The infamous Yoon Jeonghan, a senior at Seoul National University. He’s notorious for sweeping people off their feet in a matter of minutes, being both charming and handsome really works in his favor. You can’t deny that he’s the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen, but you’ve heard the rumors.
don’t get pulled in.
He runs a hand through his hair, flashing you a smile as he steps over to the counter.
oh jesus.
“Hi, I heard you guys make really pretty bouquets?” You nod your head silently, and he cocks his head to the side.
oh BITCH! You’re supposed to speak!
“I mean, I guess so! I’d say bouquets and flower crowns are our specialty.” Jeonghan lets out a small smile, finding you to be a lot cuter than he originally expected. “What’s the occasion?”
Jeonghan takes a good look at you, analyzing your features as you look at him expectantly. He stares into your eyes, tilting his head when he sees how they sparkle back at him. He’s heard a lot about people holding stars in their eyes, but he never believed it.
Until now.
“Um, sir?” Jeonghan shakes his head, rubbing the back of his neck as he snaps himself out of his daze. You look down at your hands, feeling shy at the fact that you just caught Jeonghan basically checking you out. He grins at your shyness, “It’s my friend’s birthday soon, I wanted to get her something nice.”
“Okay, well here’s a photobook of our recent bouquets we’ve made, as well as the customer favorites. My favorite flowers are daisies, but I personally like bouquets with sunflowers because,”
Jeonghan listens attentively as you explain the different bouquets, and the meaning of the flowers added to them. He watches the way your eyes sparkle even more when you talk about something you’re passionate about, even letting out giggles when you look up at him with a bright smile on your face.
“Well, I suppose I’ll get the sunflower bouquet you recommended to me.” You nod your head, typing in the order into the computer. “Great decision.”
“What time will it be ready tomorrow?” Jeonghan asks, leaning forward onto the counter. You find yourself scooting backwards from the close proximity, choosing to look busy with the computer. “I can have it ready by 12 pm, if that works for you?” The pretty boy nods his head, grinning at your shyness.
this will be a piece of cake, Jeonghan thinks to himself.
“Yeah, that’s perfect. My name is Yoon Jeonghan by the way.” You nod your head as you type in his name for the order. Glancing up from the computer screen you see him watching you with an amused expression on his face, and you raise an eyebrow. “Is there something on my face? Shit, it might be the sparkles from that ribbon...”
Jeonghan giggles at you, shaking his head. “No, there’s nothing on your face, yn.” You raise an eyebrow again, and he smiles. “How do you know my name?”
He points at your nametag, and you look down at your hands, letting out a small, ah.
I… am stupid.
“Both silly and beautiful, a great combo.” Your eyes widen at the compliment, realizing you’re about to be one of the people that Jeonghan breaks and that’s when you snap out of it. Jeonghan’s smile drops slightly when he sees you look at him with a serious expression on your face, stark contrast to the shy smile you were sporting previously.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Jeonghan.” He nods his head slowly, giving you a smile before walking out of the shop. You let out a breath, leaning back onto the counter and closing your eyes.
not gonna fall for it.
“It’s been two weeks and you’re telling me she hasn’t fallen for you yet?” Minji asks Jeonghan as they hangout by the bar. They watch Chan from across the club, seeing him giggling with a girl. Jeonghan takes a sip of soju, letting out a sigh as he remembers his failed attempts of asking you on a date.
“No one’s ever said no to me before, so that shit kinda hurt my ego.” Minji rolls her eyes, muttering about how you must either be blind or stupid, or both.
probably both.
“Maybe I should’ve made Chan do it.” Jeonghan flashes her a glare, turning away to look around the club. His thoughts keep going back to the first time you turned him down, and he chugs the rest of his soju.
“Here’s the bouquet! I hope your friend likes them.” You tell Jeonghan with a smile, handing him the delicate yellow bouquet. He grins at the bright assortment, finding them a lot prettier than expected. He glances up at you, finding himself staring into your eyes once again as he says,
“She’ll love them, thank you.” You nod your head, typing into the computer that you’ve given the client the flowers. Jeonghan stands idle for a moment, and you look back at him, wondering why he hasn’t left yet.
“Is there something else-”
“Would you like to go on a date with me?” Your eyes widen, clearly taken aback by his request, before you chuckle, “No thank you.”
“Great! I’ll pick you up at—wait.” You stare at him in amusement as he fumbles over his words. “Did you say no?”
“I did.”
“Why?”
“I know the type of guy you are, Jeonghan.” Jeonghan’s shocked expression turns into an amused smile, and you watch as he even lets out a small laugh, shaking his head. He leans onto his elbows on the counter, staring into your eyes, “And what may that be?”
You smile, and he waits for your response. You lean onto the counter as well, watching as Jeonghan swallows from the close distance between the two of you that you initiated.
“The one that makes any girl he wants melt into putty in his hands. Then when he gets what he wants, he leaves. I’m not going to fall for it, Yoon Jeonghan.” He blinks at you in shock, and you give him a sweet smile, leaning back and taking a sip of water from your water bottle..
“Have a wonderful day.” Jeonghan snaps out of his state of surprise, and lets out a deep chuckle, looking at you with a challenge to his eye.
“I’ll prove you wrong, pretty. I’ll see you around.”
Jeonghan scowls at the memory, and Minji lets out a sigh when she turns her head to see the crease between his eyebrows. She reaches up and rubs the area with her thumb until the frown disappears, and she gives him a smile.
“Let’s dance, hm?” Not waiting for his answer, she grabs Jeonghan’s hand and brings him onto the dance floor. They sway with each other for a few minutes, Jeonghan clearly still thinking of you as he blindly follows Minji’s lead. She squints at how unusual Jeonghan’s being, and pats the top of his head.
“She’ll come around Hannie, they always do. When she does, remember the plan.” Minji says in an attempt to reassure him, and he bites his lip, thoughts trailing back to your smile as he says,
“She’s not like them though.”
“Jeonghan, why are you here again?” You ask boredly as you spray the daisies at the front of the shop, not even sparing him a glance. He freezes, before holding out an unopened boba, and you finally turn your head to see him looking at anything but you. “I got you the classic pearl green milk tea, I wasn’t sure what your favorite flavor was so I decided to play it safe.”
You stare for a moment, finding it sort of endearing that he’s too shy to even glance at you right now. Deciding to be nice, you reach out and take it, feeling warmth flood your face when he finally locks eyes with you. Jeonghan wipes his original surprised expression off his face, now smiling at the fact that you took the drink.
It’s been three weeks since Jeonghan’s ordered those flowers, and he’s visited the shop every time you're on shift. He hasn’t even bought flowers since the day he ordered the bouquet, he just comes to talk to you and help out in the shop. He keeps trying to take you out on a date, but you never give him the time of day. Your own boss has fallen for him, nudging your hip and telling you to “say yes to the handsome man!” You’ve never heard of Jeonghan trying so hard to get with someone, let alone drag it out for three weeks. So now you’re left wondering if he genuinely does like you?
“It’s my favorite flavor, thank you.” Jeonghan lets out a sigh of relief, and the corner of your lip quirks up. You cough into your shoulder, turning around to walk back into the shop after an awkward silence settles over the two of you. He reaches out and grasps your elbow softly to stop you, and you slowly turn your head to look back at him.
“Are you going to ask me if I can go out with you again?”
“…”
“You already know my answer, Jeonghan.”
“Give me one night.” You don’t pull away, and he takes it as a sign to continue. “Let me take you out on one date, and I’ll let you decide whether I’m the type of guy you think I am. You can leave whenever you want, I just want one chance with you.” You stare into his eyes, finding truth to his words, and you let out a sigh.
“Okay.” Jeonghan tries to fight the smile emerging onto his face, resulting in his pretty lips quivering a bit.
“Okay.”
“… Okay.”
“I’ll see you.” Jeonghan says, turning around and beginning to walk away. You immediately frown, “You’re not going to give me your number?!”
“Check the boba!” He yells back, and you glance at the cup to see his number written on it, along with a message.
have a good day at work, yn <3
Biting your lip to stop the warmth from rushing to your cheeks, you turn your head to look at Jeonghan’s retreating figure. A smile breaks out on your face when you see him raise his hands in the air in victory, and you feel your heart warm.
“I guess he’s serious.”
“Hey, I’m here.” Jeonghan says into his phone, and he chuckles at the numerous curses you mutter as you slip on your shoes in a hurry. “I’ll be out in a sec!”
Hanging up the phone, Jeonghan makes sure the passenger seat is clean. He grabs his water bottle, taking a sip as you step into the car. When he swallows the water, he opens his mouth to greet you, only to pause when he lays eyes on you.
Instead of the t-shirt, jeans, and apron he always sees you in at work, you’re wearing a pleated black skirt with a white dress shirt and an oversized argyle patterned vest over it. Feeling Jeonghan’s stare on your side-profile, you turn your head and lock eyes with him, and he snaps out of his daze.
“You, uh.” He coughs into his shoulder in an attempt to hide the blush rising up his cheeks, “You look pretty.” Jeonghan mutters, and you smile shyly.
“Thanks, you look nice too.” He chuckles, pulling out of your driveway. “Just nice?”
“Just nice Jeonghan, don’t push my kindness.” You joke and he rolls his eyes at you. He hands you his phone for you to aux, and you smile happily as you search up a Day6 song to play. Jeonghan sneaks glances at you, and you chuckle when you notice.
“You’re gonna get us in an accident if you keep turning your head to look at me.” He sputters, and you laugh at his reaction. He takes one more look at you as you giggle, finding the sound of your laugh a lot cuter than he should.
“Where are we going for our date?” You ask, and he shrugs. He takes a right at the stoplight before grinning at your question. “You’ll see.”
“Oooh, so it's a surprise?” Jeonghan doesn’t respond, instead letting out a small hum to the tune of Day6’s new song. You smile, looking out the window to take in the view of Seoul at night for the remainder of the car ride.
“So, how was the date? It’s been like three weeks since we all last hung out like this. I need updates, Jeonghan, updates.” Minji states as she flips the brisket on the grill. Chan takes a cooked piece, turning to look at his friend for his response.
Jeonghan stares at the meat, a small grin appearing on his lips as he remembers how your guys’ first date ended.
“Can’t believe you fell while we were ice skating.” You giggle, and Jeonghan lets out a whine, patting his rather sore butt. He shoots you a playful glare, to which you stick your tongue out at him as he walks you to your door.
“At least I know I was able to make you laugh that hard on our first date.” Jeonghan jokes, and you give him a small smile. You’re surprised that tonight was so fun, it truly exceeded your expectations. The surprise location was the ice skating rink, to which you were incredibly excited for.
Jeonghan brought you there in hopes that he could teach you how to skate, but little did he know, you already knew how to. It ended up becoming a competition between the two of who could do the most intricate tricks. You won though, because Jeonghan literally ate shit when he tried to do an axle.
“So, yn, what’s your final opinion of me after tonight? Am I the type of guy you originally thought I was?” Jeonghan asks once the two of you make it to your doorstep. You stare at him for a moment, taking in his handsome features. Tonight’s date was fun, and you learned a lot more about him than you ever thought you would. He’s charming, funny, kind, and lastly, you find him to be genuine.
As you look at Jeonghan, you let out a small breath when you come up with your verdict, and he nervously awaits your response even though he hides it well.
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?” He repeats, and you give him a big smile as you open your front door. You slip off your shoes, and turn back to look at Jeonghan.
“Have to go on a second date to come up with my opinion.” You say, closing the door before he can ask anymore questions.
Jeonghan stands there for a moment, letting your words process in his brain. Once it finally hits him, he lets out a smile, clapping his hands in victory. Jeonghan pumps the air, stepping off your porch and heading towards his car with newfound confidence and excitement filling his veins.
It’s been three weeks since then, and you and Jeonghan have gone on three more “official dates.” The other times the two of you have hung out are for some reason, not considered dates, more of you guys just bonding. Whether it be helping each other with homework, Jeonghan coming to help you at the shop, or the two of you doing late night convenience store runs to eat ramen, there’s something going on between the both of you.
Chan is able to sense something different as he stares at his friend, knowing that this was going to happen. Minji notices as well, considering that Jeonghan still hasn’t answered her question. She frowns at him, reaching out and slapping his arm. He jumps back, startled, as he looks at his two best friends.
“You don’t like yn… right?” Minji asks, to which Jeonghan stares at her as memories of you flood his mind when he tries to come up with an answer. He remembers the way your whole face lights up when food gets placed in front of you, and how you just let your glasses fog up when the two of you eat ramen. He’s tried to take your glasses off when you eat the hot noodle dish, but you would slap his hand away each time, giving him a smile.
“my glasses are just having a sauna, leave them be.”
Minji tilts her head to the side, and that’s when Jeonghan cracks a small smile, looking up at her. “No, I don’t like yn.”
You lay on your bed, scrolling through Twitter to try and find some cursed emoji pictures when you hear your front door unlock. Jeonghan steps in with a bucket of fried chicken, taking off his shoes and slipping into the pair of slippers you left by the door. He places the food on your kitchen counter, before walking over to your room and peeking his head inside to see you laying on your bed, not even giving him a glance.
“You know, if it wasn’t me who entered your house and instead it was some crazy serial killer, you absolutely would’ve died.” Jeonghan says, announcing his presence. You finally look away from your phone, giving him a sarcastic laugh before going back to Twitter. He scoffs, walking into your room and snatching your phone out of your hands.
“Hey!”
You open your mouth to argue, only for Jeonghan to interrupt by saying, “Come eat first, I brought chicken.” It promptly shuts you up, and you stand up off your bed, quickly following him into the kitchen.
You let out a squeal once you see the chicken, opening up the container and taking out a piece. You take a bite, and Jeonghan watches you with a knowing grin on his face. You squint your eyes at him, pointing at the chicken to get him to eat as well. He rolls his eyes, grabbing one and taking a bite.
The two of you spend the next half hour finishing up the chicken. With Jeonghan threatening to throw a bone at you, and you sneaking the crispy pieces of his chicken whenever he’s not looking. Once you’re both done though, you sit down on your couch, still a bit of space between the two of you.
You and Jeonghan have been hanging out for a month and a half now, him even having the spare key to your place while you have his. Sometimes he just randomly comes over to do homework on your floor which scares your roommate to death sometimes, while you sneak over to his at night to steal some of his soju when you run out. Other times you both just watch movies together or play video games. You don’t know what you guys are as neither of you have made a move to make it official.
In all honesty, all the two of you have done to progress your relationship is accidentally brush your hands together. Jeonghan’s just waiting to see if your opinion of him has officially changed, while you’re waiting for him to ask you to be his girlfriend as you are too shy to ask him.
“Yn.” You turn your head to look at Jeonghan, eyes glazing over his handsome features. His black hair that’s usually straight is resting in slight waves on his forehead, emphasizing the overall soft look that he has going on today. “Mm?”
“Have you come up with your final opinion?” Jeonghan asks, reaching out and tucking a stray piece of hair that fell over your nose behind your ear. When you look up into his eyes and he sees the sparkle in them, his hand freezes, staying rested on your cheek.
Your eyes slowly trail down at his pink lips, heart rate increasing when his tongue darts out to lick them. Jeonghan stares at you, feeling the tension in the room rise as he watches your eyes move back up from his mouth. His thumb brushes against your cheek, beginning to hear his heartbeat in his ears by how nervous he is.
“Yn.”
“Jeonghan.”
“Can I kiss you?” Jeonghan watches the way your eyes sparkle up at him, finding himself to be the luckiest man in the world to see you like this. You nod your head slowly, letting out a breath, “Yeah.”
Without wasting another second, Jeonghan leans in close and tentatively presses his lips to yours. Your hand reaches up, entangling your fingers into his hair. He pulls away, just to capture your lips again after a second of staring, slowly leaning you back until you’re laying on the couch.
i don’t like her. i don’t like yn. Jeonghan mutters in his brain like a mantra the more he kisses you. His hand lowers to your hip, squeezing it slightly when you tug on his hair again. He hears his heartbeat in his ears, tingles in his stomach when you slightly suck on his bottom lip.
i don’t like her. this is a game. this is for minji.
“Be my girlfriend?” Jeonghan whispers against your lips in between kisses, completely ignoring what the voices in his head are saying. You pull away, looking at him with wide eyes, but his gaze is focused on your pretty swollen lips.
“Did you just?” He glances up into your eyes, and he lets out a small smile. A giggle comes out of you, and you raise a hand to your warm face.
“Yeah, I’ll be your girlfriend, Hannie.” Jeonghan bites his lip as a grin breaks out onto his face, before leaning back down and kissing you breathless again.
if i didn’t like her, then why do i feel like this? why do i wanna kiss her more, why do i only want to kiss her, why do i not want her kissing anyone else like this?
why does it feel like this isn’t just some game anymore?
“You’re crazy.”
“Says the one who tried to duct tape their friend to the wall once.”
“Okay, in my defense,” You stare at Jeonghan across the table, giving him an amused smile as you wait for him to continue. “Chan let me duct tape him to the wall. It was a joint effort yn.”
You roll your eyes, reaching out and hitting his shoulder lightly, before taking a sip of your boba. Jeonghan smiles at the sparkle in your eyes, taking note that the sunlight hitting your skin is as beautiful as the cherry blossoms blooming in the spring.
It’s been two months since you and Jeonghan have called it official, three and a half months since the day you guys met, and the two of you have become the talk of your guys’ university. Everyone who knows Jeonghan as the guy who never settles, has finally settled. You’re in the limelight as well, girls either being envious or worried for you, and guys nodding their heads in approval at Jeonghan’s decision.
“You’re really pretty like this.” Your eyes widen in surprise at the sudden compliment, beginning to feel shy by Jeonghan’s stare. You look down at your drink, small smile taking over your features. “Like what?”
“Happy. You look pretty when you’re happy.” Jeonghan mutters softly, eyes holding an emotion that is indecipherable to you.
But it’s easy to read for Chan as he stares at the two of you from across the café. He shakes his head in disappointment, knowing that Jeonghan’s going to have to tell you one day. Chan watches as Jeonghan reaches out and rests his hand over yours, a happy smile forming on his face when you make a joke.
i haven’t seen him this happy with another girl in a long time, Chan thinks to himself, taking one last sip of his boba. He walks over to the exit, throwing his cup in the trash. He takes one more glance at the two of you, now finding you excitedly telling Jeonghan a story of who knows what.
All Chan knows is that you’re happy, and Jeonghan’s happy, but it’s going to be taken away as soon as you find out the truth.
“Jeonghan, when are you going to end things with yn? It’s been over three months since you two became ‘official’, I’m pretty sure she’s already head over heels for you.” Minji asks from her couch. She blows on her newly painted nails, making sure they dry properly. Chan shoots the striped ball into the pocket, taking note of the way Jeonghan visibly stiffens after the question is asked.
“She’s not head over heels.” Jeonghan answers, nodding his head once Chan misses the next striped ball. He leans down, getting ready to hit a solid. “Are you sure that’s it? Or have you forgotten our fucking plan?”
Jeonghan pauses, turning his head to look at Minji, only to find her glaring at him. Chan lets out a small sigh, pulling out his phone to try and distract himself as the tension in the room rises. Jeonghan rolls his eyes, turning back towards the pool table.
“You’re supposed to make yn fall in love with you, and then break her heart so that Dohyun feels horrible. Did you forget that because you think she’s some good fuck?” Jeonghan slams the pool stick down on the table, actively startling Minji and Chan. “You know that yn hasn’t even mentioned Dohyun since I first started talking to her? He hasn’t tried to see her either, you know that? It makes me wonder why you even decided to target yn in the first place.” Jeonghan says, turning his head to see Minji’s reaction. He watches as her demeanor shifts slightly, suddenly appearing to look guilty, and he squints at her. Jeonghan pushes off the pool table and walks over to Minji so that he’s standing a few feet from her.
“And don’t you ever degrade yn to just being a good fuck again.” Minji blinks up at Jeonghan, not used to having his anger directed towards her. Her initial shock shortly turns into rage. Laughing, she stands up off the couch to stand her ground. “What a joke, you fucking fell for her didn’t you?”
Jeonghan turns away, clenching his fists as he stares out Minji’s window. Chan watches from the pool table, feeling wracked by nerves as he watches his two best friends argue for the first time ever.
“Yoon Jeonghan, the man at Seoul National University who was unattainable. The one who was called cold hearted because he’d break the hearts of people left and right, has developed feelings for the pawn in our game.” Minji sneers, now staring at Jeonghan with an amused look on her face. He finally turns and stares directly down into Minji’s eyes, feeling anger flood through him.
“And what about it?” Minji’s mouth drops open slightly, having not expected him to confess. Chan stares between the two of them, afraid of the tension rising in the room. “W-What?”
“I’m in love with yn. She’s witty, intelligent, funny, kind, beautiful; if you made a list of all the good traits in the ideal person then that’s yn’s description. I’m not going to play her like that, she’s no longer just a game. And I’m not going to be a pawn in your revenge plot anymore either.” Jeonghan states, before turning around to go and grab his phone. Minji reaches out and grabs his arm, but he doesn’t look back.
“You think she’s going to forgive you when she finds out?”
The room stays silent for a moment, and Minji thinks she’s won from the way Jeonghan’s staring at the floor. Her heartbeat picks up when Jeonghan rips his arm from her grasp, turning to glance at her.
“No, and I hope she won’t ever forgive me when she finds out. Yn deserves someone better than me. Someone who won’t blindly follow their friend and purposefully hurt a girl who didn’t do anything to be involved in this.” Jeonghan states, and Chan bites the inside of his cheek, looking down at the floor.
“I’m a horrible, selfish person for what I have done to yn, but I’m going to do at least one thing right and tell yn the truth, myself.” Jeonghan explains, before turning and walking towards the door, raising his hand up to grab the door handle.
“If you walk out that door we’re no longer friends, Jeonghan.” Minji threatens in one last weak attempt to get Jeonghan to stay, feeling afraid that she’s about to lose him. That she no longer has the control she once had over her best friend. Jeonghan stills for a moment, before grabbing the door handle and ripping the door open, shutting it directly behind him. The slam of the door echoes through the room, a sense of finality settling itself upon Minji and Chan.
“Fuck.”
You hum quietly as you tend to the orchids, finding the blue ones to be incredibly pretty on this sunny day. The sound of the door chime rings throughout the shop, and you turn your head to greet the incoming customer.
“Hi! Welcome to Bloom Bloo-”
“Yn?” Your eyes widen when you recognize your old friend, immediately breaking out into a smile as you stand up at your full height to wave at him.
“Dohyun! What are you doing here?” You ask as you walk over towards him, and he gives you a grin as he opens his arms and pulls you into his embrace. Your eyes widen slightly at the skinship, having briefly forgotten how Dohyun shows his love as you tentatively wrap your arms around him, patting his back.
“I came to order a burger and fries, actually.” Dohyun answers when he pulls away, and you squint at the man, pushing him with your hand as you walk over to the register, listening to him laugh that contagious laugh of his from behind you.
“Haha, funny.” You say, trying to fight back the smile that’s threatening to break out onto your face. Dohyun catches it though, and giggles to himself. “Based on the smile you’re fighting, I can see that you hold some truth behind that statement.”
You shake your head, turning back towards your friend and getting a good look at him. His brown hair is parted to the side, showing off his forehead and nice eyebrows. He’s wearing a brown hoodie with a black puffer jacket over it, and you purse your lips, wondering why it seems like he put in a bit more effort into his appearance.
“Are you checking me out, yn?” Dohyun asks with a teasing grin, and you roll your eyes. You open your mouth to respond, only to pause when you hear a familiar voice ring through the shop.
“You better be talking about a bouquet of flowers.” You and Dohyun look towards the entrance to see Jeonghan standing there, frown on his face. He squints when he locks eyes with Dohyun, and the brunette raises an eyebrow when he recognizes the man.
“Jeonghan?”
“Hannie, with how much you come into the shop, you should just apply for a job here.” You joke, watching as Jeonghan’s features immediately soften slightly when he looks over at you. He lets out a small smile, shaking his head at you.
“I wouldn’t be able to bring in as many customers as you, anyways.” Jeonghan tells you, walking over and patting your head over the counter. You grin, grabbing one of the daisy flower crowns you made in the morning and placing it over Jeonghan’s head. Dohyun glances between the two of you, and he finds himself squinting at Jeonghan when he remembers his reputation on campus.
“You two are dating?” Dohyun asks, and you nod your head.
“For a bit over four months now.” Jeonghan adds, feeling his heart thump against his chest as Dohyun stares at him with a hint of suspicion in his gaze. The brunette simply turns back towards you, and gives you a smile.
“I’m happy for you, yn. You’ve been single for as long as I can remem-” Dohyun sputters when you spray him with the spray bottle full of water, and Jeonghan bites back the laugh that almost escapes him. Dohyun wipes his eyes and shoots you a glare, making you giggle a bit.
“Yn! I have a date in an hour, don’t ruin my hair.” Dohyun whines, and you laugh, “Then don’t boast about how lonely I was!”
A frown forms on Jeonghan’s face as he watches you and Dohyun begin to discuss the numerous bouquet options he can choose from for his upcoming date. The memory of Minji saying that you were the one Dohyun was showing interest in plays in his mind, and he bites the inside of his cheek, wondering if that was even true.
“Take care of those, I made that bouquet this morning!” You say, breaking Jeonghan out of his thoughts as Dohyun carefully takes the arrangement of flowers from your grasp. He nods his head, “Careful is my middle name.”
“Yeah, yeah. Have fun on your date!” You tell Dohyun, and he smiles, nodding his head. It comes to Jeonghan’s surprise when Dohyun turns to him, gesturing towards the door.
“Can you get the door for me, man?” Jeonghan nods his head, walking over and pushing open the door for him. The brunette smiles, walking through the door, but stopping to quietly mutter,
“I know how your trio used to do things in high school, and I know that Minji was upset when I ended things. I only broke up with her because I learned of the type of people you guys are. This better not be one of your trio’s games, because yn doesn’t deserve that. And if it is, then end it now.”
Jeonghan stands frozen as Dohyun gives him one more smile and sends a wave towards you, before walking out the door. You tilt your head at your boyfriend, wondering why he looks so guilty as he stares down at the ground.
“Jeonghan? Are you okay?” You ask, seemingly breaking him out of his daze. Jeonghan looks back towards you, giving you a smile as he walks over. “Did Dohyun say something? He’s always been protective, even when we were younger.”
Jeonghan shakes his head at you, reaching out across the counter and taking a hold of your hand. You raise an eyebrow, watching as Jeonghan cups your hand within both of his.
“What’s on your mind, Hannie?”
“Are you free tomorrow?” Jeonghan asks instead, and you stare at him in silence for a moment. You let out a small giggle, shaking your head and reaching out with your free hand, patting the top of his head, the delicate petal of one of the daisies brushing against your wrist.
“Were you nervous about asking me on a date? That’s so cute, but yes. I should be free tomorrow.” Jeonghan gives you a smile, and you find that it doesn’t really reach his eyes as he stares at you.
“Great. I’ll meet you at the bus stop tomorrow, okay?” Jeonghan asks, and you nod your head, warmth flooding your face as you stare at your boyfriend. Jeonghan bites the inside of his cheek from the stars in your eyes, wondering how he’ll ever be able to tell you the truth. He lets go of your hand after pressing a soft kiss to the back of it, turning and walking towards the doors, but stopping to glance back at you.
“See you, pretty.” Jeonghan tells you, and you smile at the nickname.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Jeonghan!” He grins, pushing open the glass doors and walking out of the shop. The smile on his face falls once he’s far from the flower shop, and he takes a deep inhale of the Summer air, the daisy flower crown resting over his head suddenly feeling heavy. Finding that it resembles the weight of his heart as he knows that everything’s about to be broken.
one day. i just want to spend one last day with yn.
You sit on the bench by the bus stop, waiting for Jeonghan to arrive so the two of you can go to the aquarium. You unlock your phone to see if there’s a new message from him, only to see no new notifications.
“I know the feeling.” You jump up, turning towards the voice to find a pretty girl standing beside you. Her brown hair falls in waves down her shoulders, and she’s wearing an off the shoulder floral top paired with a beige skirt. You tilt your head to the side, finding her rather familiar.
“Hi yn. I’m Minji, Jeonghan’s friend.” She introduces, and you have to stop yourself from letting out an ohhh because now you recognize her. “Oh, hi Minji.” You reach out and shake her hand, giving her a smile.
“Are you waiting for the bus?” You ask, and she shakes her head, letting out a small laugh. “I drove. In all honesty, I came to pick you up.”
You raise your eyebrows in surprise, having no clue as to where you’d even go since you haven’t met Minji before. She gives you a smile, “Jeonghan told me to come get you because he’s running a bit late due to Chan being silly, per usual. He said he’ll come pick you up at my house.”
“He did?”
“You don’t believe me?” You immediately raise your hands up to tell her you didn’t mean to imply that she’s a liar, but Minji stops you right away while giggling at your antics. “I was kidding yn, don’t worry. Now, do you want to come hangout at my house or do you want to wait here by the bus stop?”
You stare at her for a moment, before letting out a small smile. “I think there’s an obvious answer to that question.”
“Wow! Your house is so nice.” You state as you stare in awe at all the beautiful artworks put on display. Minji waves her hand at you, telling you not to flatter her so much. You follow her up to her room, still looking around with child-like fascination.
damn, this almost makes me feel bad. she’s kinda sweet. Minji thinks to herself as the two of you finally make it up to her room. She places her bag down by her bed, removing the earrings from her ears. You stand shyly by the door, unsure of where to sit, or if you’re even allowed to sit. Minji turns towards you with a grin on her face.
“You can sit over there yn.” She tells you, pointing over towards the small couch in the corner by her desk. You nod, walking over to go and sit down, only to pause once you see a corkboard laying on her desk.
“I’m going to use the restroom, be right back.” Minji announces, a smile on her face when she sees you staring at the board. She walks out of the room, pulling her phone out of her pocket to call Jeonghan.
“What?” Jeonghan answers as he heads towards the bus stop where you’re waiting. He lets out a soft smile down at the lavender daisies he bought on his way, planning to surprise you with them since they’re your favorite flower. He remembers the small box in his room, a gift he plans to give you after you guys get back from the aquarium. “Just wanted to let you know that you should probably turn around and head over to my house.”
Your hand slowly lifts up the board, tears filling your eyes.
“Why?” Jeonghan pauses when he doesn’t see you sitting at the bench the two of you agreed to meet at. He lowers the flowers once he realizes what Minji meant, cursing to himself and turning around.
“Have a nice run.” Minji says cheerfully, hanging up the phone and placing it into her pocket. She smiles, walking to the sink to splash water onto her face in an attempt to wash away the small feeling of regret.
You stare at the photos of you taken from your social media, gaze following the red line that lands on different notes with the places you work and hangout at. Your heart shatters as you read the instructions on what to do when Jeonghan meets each new step with you. Your eyes land on the very last note, and it takes everything in you to not crumple onto the floor.
break her heart.
The feeling of wanting to vomit builds up in your throat, the realization that you were just a pawn in their sick game slamming into you like a train. That you fucking fell for it, you fell for him. You drop the board, stepping away from it as if it’s cursed. You quickly leave the room, dashing down the steps and running out the door. Minji watches from upstairs, letting out a sigh once you slam the door shut.
The tears blur your vision as you run off her property, trying to get as far away as you can. You slam straight into a hard chest, stumbling backwards that their hands have to reach out and grasp your arms so that you don’t fall. You wipe away your tears with the back of your hands, opening your mouth to apologize, only to stop when you realize who helped you.
Jeonghan stares back at you, sweat dripping down his face from running, purple daisies on the ground beside him, now missing multiple petals. You rip your arms out of his grasp, feeling a sob bubble up in your chest as the two of you stare at each other in silence.
“Yn, I-”
“Don’t. Just. Stay away from me.” You state, attempting to walk around him, only for him to stop you.
“Yn, please. Let me explain. I can tell you everything, please just-”
“Explain what? That you used me for your revenge plot? That you strung me along for months when I had nothing to do with what happened between Dohyun and Minji? That you just think of me as some fucking joke?” Jeonghan shakes his head, grasping your arms to try and plead with you. The sob finally breaks out, and you reach up to cover your face. “God, no. Yn you’re not a joke, you could never be a joke. I never meant for it to get this far. It was all a plan at first but then I got to know you and I fell in l-”
“S-Save it. I don’t want to hear anymore lies.” You mutter, and Jeonghan’s eyes begin to water when you remove his hands from your arms. You stare at him, tears continuing to fall from your eyes as you do so, wondering how you let this happen.
how you let yourself fall for him.
“I-I just wanted one more day. One more day with you, and I was going to tell you everything.” Jeonghan chokes out, hands shaking by his sides as he waits for a response. After a moment of silence, he tentatively reaches up to try and rest his hand on your cheek, “Please, yn. Let me explain-”
“How come I have to get punished just because I love you?”
Jeonghan pauses, staring into your pained eyes as his hand slowly lowers back down to his side. The sparkle that he was so used to, now replaced with the glassiness from your tears. You wipe away the wetness on your cheeks, realizing you confessed that you love him for the first time.
how unfortunate.
With that, you turn around and walk away from him, not looking back. Jeonghan watches your figure shrink until you’re out of sight, and he drops to his knees, tears finally streaming down his face. He rests his face onto his arm, crying loudly as his heart completely shatters from what he ruined. While Minji watches from her gate, gulping down the feeling of guilt as she stares at her best friend experiencing heartbreak for the first time.
“I hope you’re eating well and taking care of yourself. I-” Jeonghan says into the phone as he stares up at his ceiling. Chan watches from the doorway, feeling sad for his friend. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” Jeonghan mutters, ending the call before the voicemail can catch the sound of him crying. He places his phone beside him, covering his face with his hands to try and muffle his sobs.
It’s been three weeks since you found out the truth, and Jeonghan’s been calling you everyday since then. He’s refused to leave his room unless it’s to use the restroom or grab food, other than that, he rots in his bed all day, the feeling of regret and resentment towards himself flooding his veins.
That and soju, lots of soju.
“Hannie, do you want me to bring in the dinner I made?” Chan asks, and Jeonghan doesn’t answer, instead turning over in bed and covering his face with a pillow instead. “You need to eat.”
Jeonghan just curls up even more, closing his eyes as more tears escape. Chan lets out a small sigh, walking out to go and grab the food anyways. He lifts up the tray, carefully stepping back into Jeonghan’s room and placing it on his desk.
“It’s there if you need it.” Chan says before closing the door.
While you, you’ve also been laying in bed for the past three weeks. Currently you’re listening to the last voicemail Jeonghan left you, crying as you hear his voice shake towards the end when he apologizes. You turn over, clutching your pillow tightly against your chest as you sob. Your roommate looks at your closed door, concern written all over their features as they hear your loud cries.
You haven’t been to work as you called in sick. Your manager understands, having heard from your roommate that you’re not in the best mental state. All you’ve done is eat, sleep, and sit in the shower for hours at a time, just letting the water run over you.
While Jeonghan has hurt you deeply, you can’t help but miss him. You yearn to hear out his side, try and be understanding, try again, but then you remind yourself that you were just a game.
just a game.
“Hi, is yn home?” Your roommate points towards your room. “Be careful though, she hasn’t really left her room for the past month.”
Chan gives her an understanding nod, knowing that Jeonghan’s doing the same thing. He slips off his shoes, before walking over to your door and knocking softly. You turn your head, muttering for them to come in, expecting your roommate. Your eyes widen when the door opens and you recognize Chan, Jeonghan’s best friend. You sit up, clutching the pillow tightly.
“What are you doing here?” Chan tentatively reaches his hands out, handing you a bag. You raise an eyebrow, taking it from him and looking inside. You let out a breath when you see a jewelry box. You lift it out of the bag, slowly opening it and biting back another sob.
“He was going to give it to you the day you guys were supposed to go to the aquarium, as a way to tell you he loves you, and that he’s sorry.” Chan explains, and you stare at the way the light reflects against the daisy pendant of the necklace.
“I know you might not want to hear this at all, but I’ve never seen Jeonghan pine after a girl, let alone fall in love. Yet, I saw both of those things happen with you.” You slowly look up at Chan, who’s giving you a small, hopeful smile. “I know what he did was shitty, I tried to stop them from including you in the plan in general. I just, I’ve seen how you’ve changed him for the better. I know Jeonghan, and I know that he really regrets what he did. He wouldn’t be calling and texting you everyday if he didn’t. He doesn't even text me honestly.”
You look at the necklace, feeling sad, but somehow a bit better, more assured. You glance back up at Chan, giving him a nod. “Thank you Chan.”
He gives you a smile, “Of course. Anything for your guys’ happiness.”
It’s been a month and a half since everything happened, and you’re finally leaving your room. It’s not much in your eyes, but your roommate was ecstatic about it, even though it’s just a trip to the convenience store. It’s also quite literally two am, but they said, any outside air is good air! You trudge over in your grey sweats and oversized black sweater, lifting up your glasses to rub your eye with the back of your hand.
Once you’re at the convenience store, you head straight towards the ramyun, grabbing the eight pack and walking out of the aisle. You step over to the register, pulling out your card to pay for it. The chime of the door opening grabs your attention, and you tiredly look up, only to freeze when you lock eyes with Jeonghan.
He doesn’t look any better, bags prominent under his eyes, black t-shirt hanging loosely on his shoulders. However, you still see him as the most handsome guy you’ve ever seen. Shock is evident on his features as he stares at you, unsure of what to do. Jeonghan’s eyes trail down, seeing the daisy pendant glimmer back at him from the light. He opens his mouth to say something, only for you to turn back towards the cashier once they hand you the bag of ramyun and your receipt.
Jeonghan clenches his fist, walking over towards the aisle where the soju is. You let out a shaky sigh, turning your head to look at his retreating figure, debating on following after him. After a moment, you shake your head, choosing to walk out of the store sadly.
Jeonghan stares at the box of soju for a moment after hearing the bells, signalling you left the store. He bites the inside of his cheek, having an internal battle with himself.
What if she doesn’t even wanna talk to me? She hasn’t answered my calls or texts for the last month and a half, that means she hates me.
I have no chance, she’ll never forgive me.
She shouldn’t forgive me for what I did...
But I miss her.
Fuck.
Jeonghan immediately turns around and runs towards the door, forcefully shoving it open and feeling the cool night air hit him. Only to stop when he sees you waiting right there, sitting on the steps, your bag of ramyun placed beside you. You slowly turn your head, looking up at Jeonghan.
“Yn.”
“Jeonghan.”
The two of you stare in silence again, and you break it by patting the empty space beside you.
“I don’t think anyone will come to the shop in a while, it’s literally two am.” You say, and Jeonghan lets out a breathless chuckle. He takes another step before sitting down beside you, and that’s when you both fall into another silence. Except this time it’s more comforting, being with each other after yearning for so long but knowing it was best to stay away.
“You look like shit.” You state, effectively breaking the silence, and Jeonghan glances at you, a grin gracing his features. He turns away, shaking his head and looking up towards the stars. “I know.”
You follow suit, staring up at the stars as well. A small smile appears on your face after a moment, and you turn your head to look at Jeonghan, only to realize he’s already staring at you. He lets out a content sigh, finding the stars slowly making their way back into your eyes. You turn away once you feel the warmth rush up to your cheeks, choosing to look at the parked car in front of the two of you. He looks back up towards the stars, trying to find which one shines the brightest.
Jeonghan comes to the conclusion that you shine brighter than the billions of stars in the sky as he does so.
“I’m sorry.” Jeonghan says after a moment, the sound of resentment present in his voice, and you let out a breath.
“I know.”
The two of you sit in silence, staring at your surroundings. A tear slips past your eye, and you wipe it away with your sweater paw. You wrap your arms around your knees, hugging them close to your chest as you stare at the empty road.
“I missed you, Jeonghan.” Jeonghan harshly bites the inside of his cheek, tears falling past his eyes as he continues to stare up at the night sky.
“I missed you too, yn.”
You let out a sigh after a moment, before leaning over and resting your head on Jeonghan’s shoulder. He freezes slightly, at the contact, but relaxes. After a moment, he lays his head over yours, and that’s when you both know you’ll be okay.
we’ll be okay.

Mornings. 이도현.
|| actor!Lee Dohyun x gender neutral reader
|| genre: fluff, slight suggestive
|| warnings: Dohyun being a baby then YOHOHOHOW real quick but no smut smut 😠
summary: you spend your morning day offs with your sugar, sweet boyfriend.
A/N: this fic is edited (5/17/2022) I changed some words and grammars that doesn’t sit well with me anymore and changed some plots but not major plots. I just noticed how shitty this is I apologize.
(3/31/2024) wow... this is still doing numbers
You woke up blinded by the sunlight bleeding through the thin white curtains, feeling cold. Blankets are nowhere to be found in the bed. You glanced at your side to see an empty space, where could he be? Standing up from your position, trying to adjust your eyes from the sunlight sunday morning is giving you, you stood up and slipped your slippers lazily.
Going outside your bedroom, you remembered, everyone has plans today. Which means, it's only me and Dohyun. Discarding your thoughts, you went downstairs to hear a young, beautiful man humming to your favorite song.
'아름다운 청춘의 한 장'
'함께 써내려 가자'
'너와의 추억들로'
'가득 채울래 ㅡ'
"Come on!'" You screamed in a hoarse voice, surprising him with your presence - but who knows you're going to be the one who's more suprised. You saw him top-less, in the middle of the kitchen "Oh, you're already awake? Why didn't you call me?" He said while turning of the stove, trying not to burn the egg rolls he's making. "I felt cold and found the blankets laying on the floor and noticed that you’re already up. I love mornings like this" you came to him, hugging his bare back, rubbing his front biceps while snuggling his onto his sides. "Like the thing you’re touching now?" He said with a chuckle, knowing he has a smile on. "Most likely, yes. I missed you. I can't believe how busy we are and this is the only time we get to have a day off together."
"Okay but go back to the bedroom or lay down at the couch. I'll finish your breakfast." He said. "But!.." you told him, going against his words. "But what?" He asks you while he turns around and grabs the left side of your waist, staring into your eyes. "I want a different breakfast.." smirking, he knew exactly what you wanted. But, the playful guy he is, he tries to play it hard.
"And what could exactly that be?" Looking at your face, looking for the answer he wants to hear. "You know what I'm talking about, Hyun." you said while he pulled you closer to him, making the gap between you and him smaller. "I need words, baby." he told you while slowly rubbing your lower back, "You" you pointed his chest. He lifted you up, walking away from the kitchen and went towards the living room - to the couch.
He kissed the side of you ears while laying you down, "Your wish is my command"

coterie: prologue
gang!au x1 x fem!reader
synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?
coterie’s masterlist can be found here
a/n: this is set in the future, where the ‘02 liners are at the drinking age, like 2021, as to not promote underage drinking (dohyun’s still underage though so no bubbly for you, buddy.)
t.w.: there will be explicit mention of alcohol, violence, cursing, and maybe some nsfw elements down the line.
seoul; a bustling city that never seemed to sleep. the two forms of seoul you were familiar with shared different characteristics. the daytime seoul had its streets crowded with people in business attire, or students and there was always a car honking and chatter could be heard even in places that were seemingly quieter than others. then, there was the nighttime seoul, where the neon lights were endless, the smell of soju filled the crisp air, and there was never a sign of shutting down the party. yet, something about this city is charming, and quite frankly may be the same reason you never wanted to leave it. you moved to seoul for school, and you don’t see yourself leaving even when that finishes. you see, seoul holds an important meaning to you because it brought color into your life. you live a bland lifestyle, you think. you wake up every day at the same time, eat the same thing for breakfast every day, and rotate the same chores and to-do list items routinely. when you came to korea for school, even your major was monotonous: political science and government (not trying to call out anyone sksk sorry if it offended any of my poli sci folks out there xoxo) you also didn’t go out partying with any of your other college friends on weekends, you’d much rather chill in your dorm and stream ‘queer eye’ while eating take out thai food. but, these things didn’t necessarily mean you were a bland person yourself. you think you’re fun: you have a sense of humor, you can tie a knot with a cherry stem in your mouth and you’ve got a social life, it’s just not as active as everyone else’s.
you seldom share these thoughts with your dorm mates, soobin and haseul. “yah, y/n, you are fun. you just tone it down a lot.” soobin explains and you pout. “gosh, I’m tired of being like this. I wanna live it up a little, you know? it’s not like I want to drop out of college and live on the edge, but it gets tiring just doing the same things every day.” your head drops into your hands. then, as if she had an ‘a-ha’ moment, haseul exclaims, “we should find you a boyfriend!” soobin seems to agree with this, and before you say anything, she stops you with a hand in the air. “hold that thought, I know who I can set you up with. lee jinhyuk from my calculus class! he’s smart, funny, cute and single!” hanseul nods enthusiastically at this, “that’s perfect, we’re lab partners, so I have his number. you should really try it out, y/n, I think you’ll like him.” and long story short, that’s how you end up at a fancy italian restaurant. you hear a, “y/n?” and look up to find a tall guy, with a gorgeous smile plastered onto his face. he reaches out his hand and with a deep voice, introduces himself. “jinhyuk. it’s nice to meet you.” you two go in and the waiter leads you to a table for two. you two talk for a bit, jinhyuk’s a physics major and tells you about what he wants to do with his degree. you tell him about yourself and he is paying attention diligently. when the waiter comes and leaves with your orders, jinhyuk receives a phone call. the slight furrow in his brow and the small frown settling in the corner of his mouth worries you a bit, then he looks up at you and gives you an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry, can I take this?”
you nod and tell him, “go ahead, I’ll be here.” he thanks you before taking his phone and stepping out of the restaurant. five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes pass and you wait for him, the waiter has long gone after he dropped off your food. you see the people around you continuously looking at you and whispering to the people on their tables. it’s embarrassing and you try to hide your face in your hands to avoid thinking about the fact that your date stood you up. angry, you get up and take your purse as you burst out through the doors of the restaurant. steam could be fuming out of your ears and you grab your phone, sending your roommates a quick text before calling an uber. where you stand, a dark alleyway is right behind you and as you wait for your uber to arrive, you can’t help but notice the strange sounds coming from the alley. almost like someone’s getting beat up or something. you hear an oddly familiar voice, and even though your mind tells you not to, your body moves closer to the alley, your curiosity at its peak. somehow a ray of light passes and you’re able to have a better look at what’s going on... jinhyuk is against the wall, and is bloody and battered as he’s surrounded by a small group of men. who are they, you think, and then your heart drops into your stomach as your eye catches the famous silver butterfly emblem: it’s x1.
