Chapter 7 - Stay
Chapter word count: 3.3k words
“I still can’t believe you’re here, you haven’t visited in so long!” Mrs. Young exclaimed and touched Minho’s hand affectionately, pointing him towards the food she laid out in front of the two of you.
You weren’t entirely sure what she cooked, but it smelled almost as good as Minho’s food, so to say you were excited to try out the mysterious stew was an understatement.
“It’s really unbelievable to have you here for dinner. It’s too bad grandma is sleeping.” She continued, smiling.
“I know, right? I haven’t been here in almost two years, but still, nothing’s changed.”
“Wow, two years?” You exclaimed, surprised.
“Yes! Can you believe that?! I wanted to scold him so badly!” Mrs. Young scoffed.
“I had so much work to do, with the restaurant and all…”
“It’s good that you were able to take a break, then. Don’t overwork yourself so much.” She frowned.
“I’ll be trying. Thank you for always looking out for me, Mrs. Young.” Minho smiled.
“Always so polite! Dal-Rae, I’m telling you, he’s always been like this! Take him out of the house more, because he’s a workaholic.”
“Am I that bad?” He chuckled.
“Oh, if anything, he’s the one who’s taking care of me and takes me out of the house.” You smiled sweetly, looking fondly at the man you’ve grown to love.
“You’re both so in love.” She smiled brightly, making you both blush. “Please visit again once the little bean comes! I’m sure grandma wants to meet little Amelia as well!”
“Of course, we will.” Minho smiled sincerely.
“So, how did you two meet? Tell me all about your love story!”
“Well-” Minho started, but you cut him off.
“It was thanks to the restaurant, really. I happened to smell one of his amazing dishes and felt my mouth water. I was sure it’s going to be delicious, so I went in, and, yeah, the rest is history.” You chuckled.
It was the truth, that’s how everything started.
Of course, you omitted the negative parts. Since Minho wanted you to be his fake girlfriend in front of his grandma and this lady, you would paint the most beautiful love story to them.
“Oh my! Is that so?” Mrs. Young chuckled as well.
“You really liked that recipe.” Minho looked at you with a smile tugging at his lips.
“Yeah, I did. It’s still my favourite.”
“I should make sure to cook it for you more often once we get back, then.”
“Please.” You smiled sweetly.
“And what about marriage?” Mrs. Young looked at both of you expectedly. “Since you have a baby on the way…”
“We first wanted to focus on what’s in front of us, making sure our baby will be healthy and happy, and then…” Minho kept his eyes on you, and you made eye contact, which made you embarrassed.
Our baby.
You didn’t know how to stop the smile from creeping onto your face, so you allowed yourself to smile and keep pretending.
You truly wished you didn’t have to pretend, and that Amelia was truly his baby.
~
“Pfew, what a full day!” Minho yawned, following you into the bedroom and opening up the suitcase. He pulled out two pairs of pyjamas - for you and him - and handed you yours.
You were grateful he took you here, and that he did all the work for you. Bending down has been getting more and more difficult, and having to rummage through the suitcase frankly scared you and brought tears to your eyes. It was frustrating, really, to be this useless. And that’s not to mention the energy levels you’ve been having – or rather, haven’t been having.
“Mhm. I’m so tired.” You chuckled.
Pregnancy really sucked, and watching Minho exit the room, you allowed yourself to exhale a painful breath. You were not ready to leave him, and you didn’t know how you were supposed to go, or where.
Sure, Minho made sure you had some money saved up. The first week you stayed at his place, he took you to a bank and helped you open an account, and he deposited a generous amount into it, way more than he should’ve, considering that you haven’t been much help around the restaurant. He kept depositing money every other week, so you managed to build up some savings that would help you rent a small one-bedroom apartment for a little while, but then what?
Minho couldn’t keep giving you money. You didn’t want him to keep giving you the money he worked so hard for, to burden him by continuing to rely on him. But without his support, what would you even do?
You needed to find a job.
You decided to think about this more in-depth once you’re back in the city, and tried to focus on the task at hand, which was getting changed out of your clothes.
You took your trousers off with great difficulty, and when trying to put the pyjama pants on, a sharp pain travelled through your body as you tried to bend and raise your leg in the air, stopping you dead in your tracks.
Fucking hell, you cursed and decided to approach the situation differently. You draped the pants on the floor and stepped into them, trying to minimise lifting your leg as much as possible, but it didn’t do much to help, for your belly was way too large and didn’t allow much movement.
It was too much.
Everything was too much, and you were tired, and sad, and sick of everything, and you were so useless, you couldn’t even dress yourself anymore.
Defeated, you sat down on the bed with your face covered by your hands and sobbed uncontrollably.
Useless, useless, useless, useless, you repeated in your head over and over. I’m just a burden to everyone. I can’t even do one simple thing.
After waiting for a while, Minho figured out that you must’ve been ready by now, so he knocked on the door and called your name, but you didn’t reply. He immediately got a bad feeling, and remembered how sad you were curled up in the bed last night after his ex traumatised you.
Afraid that you’re having another panic attack, he decided to open the door instead of waiting for your response, and seeing you, his heart broke inside of his chest. You were sitting on the bed, crying your eyes out, legs naked.
“Dal-Rae, what’s wrong?” He entered the room immediately and closed the door behind him, dropping to his knees in front of you.
“I-… I-” You started but couldn’t stop stuttering between your sobs.
God, why am I so pathetic?
You hated this.
You hated everything, but the one thing you hated the most was yourself.
“Shh, come here.” He hugged you tightly, and you cursed again and again, because his arms were so warm and comfortable, and safe. How would you leave him? How?
He continued speaking, and you couldn’t grasp how he was able to be so observant and careful with you all the time. “What’s wrong, hm? Is it hard pulling your pants up?”
You just nodded, so he helped you stand up and kneeled down in front of you again.
“I haven’t shaved.” You tried to get out between your sobs.
“So what?” Minho chuckled sympathetically, grabbing the pants and lifting them up on your legs.
“It’s disgusting.” I’ll disgust you. You thought, crying even harder.
“Dal-Rae, it’s just some hair. It’s not disgusting. You could never disgust me, no matter what.”
“That’s a lie.” You whispered.
“It’s not. There. Better?” He stood up and smiled at you, but you couldn’t stop crying. You wanted to tell him about all your insecurities, and you wanted him to comfort you and tell you that it’s okay to stay with him, that he doesn’t and won’t mind taking care of you for as long as you needed.
You wanted that so badly, but still, you couldn’t bring yourself to say anything.
You just sobbed quietly in his arms, and when you finally calmed down, you told him you were tired and needed to sleep, so you laid down the bed and turned on your side facing the wall, feeling the mattress grow heavy with Minho’s body behind you.
All of a sudden, an arm encircled your frame, and Minho’s body pressed against your back.
“Dal-Rae, please don’t be upset anymore.” He whispered, caressing small circles on your arm.
“I just wish I wasn’t such a burden to you…” You confessed quietly.
“You are not a burden. I’ve never seen you that way. You are very precious to me.” He squeezed your arm a little, then continued caressing it.
You didn’t know what to say. Should you say ‘I love you’? Should you also tell him that he is precious to you? Should you tell him about what you’ve been thinking of doing? That your accountant brain can’t shut down and only thinks of numbers numbers numbers – of how much money you needed to move out?
You didn’t know what to say, so you didn’t say anything. You just closed your eyes and tried to fall asleep. Sometimes, running away is better than facing everything head on, and isn’t that what you’ve been doing the whole time?
When things got tough with your boyfriend, you didn’t report him, nor confront him. You ran away and found Minho. And now, when you’re feeling like extra weight for Minho to take care of, you wanted to run away again, just so you wouldn’t inconvenience him any further.
You were so, so incredibly tired of running away.
But then, Minho’s words shook you awake.
“The baby in your belly is also precious to me. Both of you have become the centre of my universe lately. Who would’ve thought?”
His voice was soft, and his words touched you. You started sobbing again.
“I love you two so much. Whenever I see you, my day feels so much brighter, and I feel so happy when she says hi to me as well.” He petted your belly, and as if on cue, your baby kicked against his palm, and Minho chuckled.
His confession of love turned you into a sobbing mess again, and unable to speak, you just touched Minho’s hand on your stomach and squeezed it.
“I’m serious, Dal-Rae. If you feel the same, and want to be with me… then please, please don’t leave me, okay? Don’t think about it… Please.”
“But-” You choked back a sob and forced yourself to talk. You wondered how he knew.
But then again, he’s been observing you so closely, he’s been so careful with you… you started wondering why you thought he wouldn’t know.
“Amelia will be here soon, and… and then what?” You asked in a whisper.
Your whole body started to tremble, and the anxiety was eating away at you.
“Do you really want to call her Amelia?” Minho asked quietly, but you could sense a smile behind his words.
“Of course. It’s a beautiful name, and it’s precious to you…”
“She will come, and we will take care of her together. I’ve already decided that I want both of you in my life, if only you’d let me.”
You stood silent for a few seconds to process his words. You knew Minho would’ve let you stay with him and care for the baby for as long as you needed, but you would’ve never in a million years expected that he would want to be a permanent part of your life, and more importantly, Amelia’s.
There was so much uncertainty in your life, and Minho just confessed he wanted to be something certain to you. You really didn’t know how to react to that.
“I don’t want you to feel stuck.” He continued. “And I won’t pressure you into anything. If you want to leave, you have options. I will help set you up in another apartment. We can look together into what areas are best for kindergartens… Chris also messaged me earlier today to let me know about a possible work-from-home accountant job, and he said he’d pull some strings for you to get the job if you want it in a few months. His way of apologising, I guess.”
You continued staying silent. You could actually leave. All the things that held you in place until now have been easily solved even without you knowing about it. Minho would help you out with an apartment, Chris found you a job, and even better, it was remote, so you could stay home with Amelia and take care of her without any issues.
“So, you can think about it, and do whatever you think is best for you and the baby, hm?”
“Minho… what?” You frowned. Although Minho provided you with an opportunity to get the life you desired once you left your ex, his words pained you.
The way he offered you an ‘escape route’, as if he would be the one to burden you and make you feel suffocated, didn’t sit right with you.
“You don’t want me to feel stuck? But… Minho… aren’t you the one who could end up feeling stuck because of me?”
“Dal-Rae… no. Definitely not. I never for a second thought that you would make me feel stuck…”
“…Why?”
“Hm?”
“I… I don’t want you to feel stuck.”
“Again, I could never-” He started, but you cut him off.
“Why are you like this, hm? Why do you like me so much? I’m just… I’m no one important. I’m not particularly smart, I don’t have any money, I also come with a pretty big baggage that’s going to be with me for at least the next 18 years. Whereas you… you have everything: a good support system, your own business, which is going so well, a happy life-”
“I don’t have everything.” He cut you off. “I like you, because you are that one missing puzzle piece I don’t have.”
“Really?” You cried silently. “But how…?”
“Yes. Really. When I’m with you, I feel… I feel at peace, and I feel like we go so well together. I’ve never felt so… at ease, next to someone else. Ever. Not even with Jess, who I’ve been with for a couple of years. That’s why.”
“What about… your friends? I mean, they are right. This is, essentially, another man’s child. It’s not your responsibility…” You decided to press further.
“Dal-Rae… I am very aware that Amelia is part of the package deal.” He chuckled softly. “I love her just as much as I love you because she is yours. I don’t care that someone else helped conceive her. I also don’t care about what other people say. I know how I feel. Isn’t that what truly matters?”
“Yeah.” You nodded. You were still crying, but how could you not, when Minho was telling you everything you’ve ever wanted to hear?
God, how did he become such a large part of your heart in such little time?
“Sure, I never thought that I’d become a father so suddenly, but I’d gladly raise her as my own, if you want me in your life. I already love her as if she was mine, anyway. And she’s named after my grandmother, don’t forget that.”
“Of course.” You chuckled and pressed your back into his, searching for more warmth.
“Look, you don’t have to make any decisions now-”
“I want to stay with you...” You whispered and buried your head in the pillow. Admitting it out loud made your heart beat quickly, and even though Minho’s been confessing his naked feelings for the past 10 minutes, a small part of your brain still feared rejection.
“Okay…” Minho whispered and kissed the back of your head.
“I really, really want to stay with you. I love you so much…” You sobbed in your pillow, and Minho hugged you tighter, pressing a kiss against your shoulder.
“I’m so happy you feel the same, Dal-Rae.”
“But…” You turned around, looking into his eyes.
The room was dark, but the moonlight was right above your window, giving you enough light to see his sparkling eyes.
“Maybe Amelia won’t be a girl. Then what? You’ll lose all your rights, she won’t be named after your grandmother anymore.” You joked and touched his cheek softly, and he grabbed your hand and kissed it.
“Hmm, yeah. That’s concerning. If it’s a boy…”
“Since I’ve already promised Han to make him the godfather… maybe Jisung could work?”
“Look at you, I’m confessing my undying love for you, and you’re thinking of naming our baby after another man.” Minho laughed, but all you could focus on was our baby.
You instinctively reached out to him and pressed your lips on his, and although surprised, he didn’t hesitate to reciprocate the kiss.
“Our baby… I like the sound of that.” You smiled against his lips.
“Mhm. Me too. I can’t wait to meet her. Or him.”
“Minho is simply the coolest name out there. But you’ve already taken it, so we can’t name our child that. Ugh, it’s so unfair that it’s yours.” You chuckled and there were no words that could describe the happiness bubbling in your stomach.
“Right?! That’s what I’m saying!” He laughed as well. “But, I mean… we could always call him Minho Jr. It’s not that bad.”
“It isss!” You laughed and playfully pushed him, but he was quick to grab your forearm and turn you on your back, getting above you.
He moved down and placed his head steadily on your belly, and so you also moved your hand on his head, caressing his hair.
Even now, he was still so considerate to not accidentally hurt you. He didn’t put any weight on your stomach, and you thought about how uncomfortable it must’ve been for his neck to simply hold his head’s weight like that above you, without it pressing on your belly.
You just stayed like that for a while, playing with his hair and massaging his scalp. Once in a while, Amelia would kick against him, and Minho would exclaim something in surprise and press his fingers on the spot she would hit.
You were truly happy. It’s safe to say you’ve never felt as happy as you did now. Meeting Minho was truly a chance of fate; it felt like he’s been sent to your life to make up for all the bad things that had ever happened to you, and your chest was so full of love, it hurt.
“Is she always so active at night?”
“Yeah, it’s hard to sleep sometimes.”
“Amelia, baby, please let mommy sleep. She needs to rest while she still can, before you come.”
“Yeah. What am I going to do when she’s here? No more rest for the wicked!”
“Which reminds me. When we go home, we should turn the empty bedroom into a nursery, shouldn’t we? We should be prepared.” Minho raised his head and plopped himself back next to you.
“There’s a lot of things to buy… I think the most important would be a crib, a stroller…”
“A bassinet, changing table, humidifier, toys, car seat… hmmm, what else?” Minho added.
“Those are not really essentials.” You chuckled. “Except for the car seat.”
“Rocking chair, changing pad-” He ignored you and kept going, before you cut him off.
“Minho, we don’t need to buy so many things. How do you even know so many objects?”
“No, Dal-Rae, this is important. We need to spoil this baby with everything possible. It’s our first child, after all. Oh, and I know because I helped Chris buy them when Olivia was too overwhelmed to go shopping.”
“You’re such a good friend.”
“You’ve just figured it out?” He laughed.
“How did you meet Chris, by the way?”
“Oh, we went to the same high school.” He shrugged. “We were part of the same club and we bonded over dance and music, and also, it helped that Olivia and Jess were best friends. We used to hang out a lot because of those two.”
“Mhm.” You nodded and hummed in understanding.
“However, I wasn’t entirely aware that we were truly friends until Jess left. He really helped me pick myself back up, and he helped me open the restaurant… that’s when I found out I can truly rely on him.”
“That’s so amazing. I’m glad you have him.” You smiled and caressed Minho’s hair.
“Anyways, where were we? Hamper, white noise machine-”
“Okay, okay. I get it.” You chuckled. “We’ll buy everything you want us to buy, you win.”
“I always do.” He grabbed your hand and kissed it tenderly. “It’s late, and I bet you’re really tired.” He said after seeing you yawn.
“Yeah… we should go to sleep”
“Mhm. Good night, Dal-Rae.”
“Night.”

Author’s note: if you enjoy my story please repost or comment :) I’d love to know what you think of it.
Lee Haneul was born as a gift from the Heavens….or at least that’s what her mother had told her. between her dazed state and the days where all she did was sleep, Ryu Dal-rae explained where Hanuel came from. It was know to the girl that she was the only child her parents could have, the whispers that followed her through the village and her father’s attitude told her that. What wasn’t known to the girl was Haneul was a gift from the gods.
Near the village that Haneul and her family had grown up at was a plot of land that the villagers liked to call the “Heavens.” It was a marketplace on a certain plot of ground close to the road, on this certain plot of land it was said that magic seemed to thrive and that was where the gods came to do their dirty work and charm a few people. You could trade for certain enchanted items but many of the items for sell were magic. People flocked to the stalls for a small taste of magic, or for their one wish to be granted. The wishes varied from person to person but most of them were family issues.
“Please grant us a good harvest.”
“Please let my daughter marry a rich man.”
“Would you please watch over my animals and make sure they grow strong and healthy.”
“Allow my son to get a good job as an official.”
They flocked in huge groups but they all came with their price. Magic was no simple thing and it took more than what people had. A wish for son could cost someone a year of servitude for the certain god, or a simple wish for health could cost memories from someone’s childhood. Using magic was risky and everyone knew that but still the came wanting more and more, cursing the gods when it backfired. Ryu Dal-rae tried to be the best daughter for her family, since she could walk and talk the young girl did everything for her family. She did her chores without complaint, never talked back to her parents, took care of her siblings, and always followed their orders to a T. So when her parents told her to never step foot in the marketplace ran by the gods, Dal-rae took the longer way back home so she wouldn’t have to pass by the “Heavens.”
Dal-rae would watch as her friends raced off and weave through the stalls, risking a chance to see the gods. She would pull from their grasp as they tried to pull her past the line of no return but the girl would turn around and walk straight home. Her parents cursed out anyone who went there saying that they were “selling their soul to the devil” and Dal-rae never made a fuss about it. As the woman grew and matured into a beautiful young lady, she forgot all about the gods and instead welcomed the arranged marriage that her parents had found, with open arms. Just like she had with her parents, Dal-rae wanted to be the best wife for her new husband.
The man she married was harsh and aggressive, he resented his parents for the marriage and took it out on Dal-rae but she pushed it to the side. She worked hard to be the best for him, but no matter what she did it wasn’t enough and the only thing that would be enough, her body refused to do. Dal-rae’s womb was inhospitable for a child, it didn’t matter how hard she tried. The woman tried everything, going to every physician and tried elixir that the doctors had suggested, she asked her friends and used every tip she had received from them. She even went to Shamans, hoping that a blessing would change her circumstances but even after that, nothing changed.
All she wanted was a child, whether that child was a girl or boy. Dal-rae prayed every night to the gods but everyday her body betrayed her desire to produce a child for her and her husband. she fell into a depression as she watched everyone else give birth to their sons who grew to be great young men. Her shame and sadness grew more every year and her husband became more embarrassed, pulling away from his wife emotionally. All Dal-rae wanted was a child, but instead all she got was shame from her village, her own family disowned her and her husband barely even looked at her. The only peace and happiness the woman felt came from her daily walks through nature.
It brought back memories of her childhood, when she would chase frogs after filling up the buckets with water from the stream. It brought back memories of when everyone was proud of her, and it stopped from the bad thoughts consuming her mind. When that wouldn’t help, she would start singing and it felt like the whole world would disappear. Her mind would fill with thoughts of her holding her child and singing them to sleep, until one day she wasn’t the only one singing. As she opened her eyes, Dal-rae stood right in front of the marketplace she had been avoiding since she was just a kid.
Her feet toed the line of magic, and as she rocked on her feet she could feel the magic. Every time she rocked forward, she could feel the small surge of energy and emotions. It buzzed through her entire body, making her heart race and all her pain and worries leave her head almost instantly. People looked so happy there, as they walked through the stalls. A smile crossed her face and she wondered why her parents kept her from such a joyous place. With one step, Dal-rae crossed into the gods domain and crossed the point of no return. The energy felt different now that she was inside the market place, her emotions were running on high.
She felt so driven but also so tired and sad, her eyes landed on one of the goddesses. She was absolutely beautiful and Dal-rae almost ran forward, crashing to her knees in front of the goddess as her hands reached out to grab onto anything. Her hands tangled in the goddess’s dress.
“Please!” The woman cried. “Please grant me a wish, I’ll do anything for you.”
Her head was too clouded for any reasonable thinking. The goddess glared down at the woman trying to yank her dress out of the woman’s hands. A small circle started forming around the goddess and the woman, people gasped and whispered watching the sight. no one approached the distraught woman or furious goddess, scared of what would happen.
“You dare to touch me mortal?” She hissed as she tried to pull harder but Dal-rae’s grasp was ironclad. She brought it up to her tear covered face as snot ran from her nose.
“I beg of you, I’ve done everything right.” She said muffled as her face dug into the silky fabric. Women covered children eye and turned themselves, sure that this would be the last they would see of the poor woman.
“Get off of me. You don’t deserve to touch me.” Jowangshin hissed out and kicked the woman’s chest finally breaking her from her dress. That didn’t stop Dal-rae, she got onto her knees and crawled forward trying to grab the goddess’s dress again. “I’ve give you anything you want, money, servitude, my family. Please, I’ve done everything right.”
The goddess pulled her dress back, opening her mouth to bark something at the woman but another voice boomed from the crowd. “Jowangshin.”
The deep voice made everyone jump except for Dal-rae who wad now gripping on the grass and crying into the ground. The crowed parted like the seas and a man walked into the middle of the newly formed circle, his gaze piercing into the goddess’s soul. The whispering started again as the man stopped in the middle, his eyes fell to the distraught woman before glaring back up at the goddess.
“Mireuk.” Jowangshin said both annoyed and relieved that the god was there.
“What is going on?” His voice dropped in volume but not in his commanding tone. The goddess’s eyes went wide as she pointed down at the woman. “Didn’t you see her, she grabbed my dress and covered it in her snot.”
Mireuk stepped forward and grabbed her arm harshly, whispering so that only she could hear. “That’s your job. You comfort humans and grant their wish.”
“Then you do it.” She hissed back and turned to walk away. The god sighed watching her walk away.
Dal-rae felt a hand on her shoulder, slowly her tears lessened just enough for her to sit up and see who it was. A sad smile covered her face as she saw another god squatting down in front of her.
“What is wrong, my dear?’ He asked softly, Dal-rae brought her hands up in front of her begging the god. “Please grant me a wish.”
“What is that.”
Her tears came back as she barely pushed out, snot ran down her face as she spat as she spoke absolutely distraught. “Please give me a child. I’m an outcast in my own town, my family doesn’t speak to me anymore, I’ve lost my friends, and my husband barely acknowledges me. Please I’ve done everything right.”
The god sighed once again as his head dropped, he was stuck with a predicament. He had to make a deal with her, that was his whole job but the woman who kneeled in front of him was so broken. She had no one, her friends and family had given up on her, the man she had been married to wasn’t even there for her and she had been ostracized from her village.
“I’ll make you a deal, I’ll grant you your wish.” Dal-rae picked up her head and gasped, more tears rushed to her eyes but these were happy tears. The woman threw herself forward wrapping her arms around his neck hugging the god tightly. “Oh thank you, thank you so much. You are a powerful god.”
He pulled the woman’s arms from around his neck, placing them softly in her lap as he explained. “But, if it is a boy, he will inherit his father’s anger and hatred. If it is a girl-“ he paused for a second, Dal-rae leaned in waiting for his next words. “Are you sure you want this?”
She nodded franticly, her hands gripped his tightly. Mireuk sighed.
“You’ll lose what you value most.”
9 months later, Dal-rae’s wish was granted. Haneul was born healthy but her mother fell into a sickness, she became bedridden and was unable to take care of her newborn so the job fell onto her husband. Yong-sam found it hard and uncomfortable at first, unsure on how to take care of a baby along with his usual routine but as she grew he found a way.
It was easy to pretend that he had a son when Haneul was a baby, but as the girl slowly grew Yong-sam’s shame and resentment slowly grew. He tried to teach the girl all the things that a boy would need to learn but every time he was reminded that Haneul was not his son.
“Hold your sword up Haneul.” The young girl groaned as she held up the stick she was using as a sword. It was one of her father’s old practice swords and it was twice as big as her and twice her weight.
Her arms faltered as it clattered to the floor, Haneul’s arms felt tighter from picking it up and holding it over her head over and over again for what felt like an hour. Haneul picked it up from the floor and picked int up again, it wobbled in her hands but her father smiled before continuing with his lesson.
“Now you never want to hold it like-“ Haneul zoned out as her father droned on, she tried to listen but her mind wandered elsewhere.
Her eyes wandered over to where some of her friends were, she watched as they played and ran around squealing and laughing. Haneul would rather be other there having fun with her friends than practicing swords with her father.
“Pay attention.” Yong-sam hit the back of his daughter’s head. “You need to know how to hold a sword if you want to use one.”
Haneul hissed and rubbed the back of her head. Her eyes looked at her father as he picked up his own sword, Haneul followed along with what he was doing. She would nod and listen as he continued but every once in a while, her eyes and mind would drift off to the children playing off in the distance. One of the girls stopped and looked back at Haneul, smiling and laughing. Yong-sun held up her hand beckoning for Haneul to come play with them. Haneul smiled back, she knew them well and wanted to play.
“I want you to hit me Haneul.” Her father’s voice pulled Haneul into the present. “As hard as you can and with good form.”
The young girl tightened her grip around the wooden sword and lifted it up. Haneul wobbled for a second before running up to her father, she pulled it as high as she could over her head and brought it down when she reached her dad but it barely did anything to the man. He laughed and pushed her sword back, Haneul crashed to the ground.
“You call that hitting? I want you to try with all your might.” He egged her on.
Haneul got back up and grabbed her wooden sword as she tried again, she held it as high as she could but due to the size, it did nothing as it came down on her father. Yong-sam was annoyed by the second attempt, by the time he was her age he had been able to take on his brothers where were stronger than him.
“Try again.” He hissed out but Haneul’s arms gave out.
She shook her head as she but the stick down panting. “Dad, I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t think sword fighting is for me, can I go play?”
His fantasy came crashing around him the second she started speaking, he was stupid for thinking that Haneul could be his son. Even the training gear that she wore looked awkward, she would always just be his daughter. How could his only child be a girl.
“Fine. Go on.” He spat out and picked up the wooden sword. He turned and walked away from his daughter.
Haneul ripped off the gear and rushed over to where her friends stood laughing as she saw them. Yong-sam wanted a child that wouldn’t bring him shame and Haneul wanted someone who understood her. Neither would get what they wanted, at least not in this lifetime
••••
“Next time can you find someone who can actually help me?” Haneul asked as she slipped the three leaf clover into her pocket. Yeosang said it would protect her from harm.
“What do you mean? Didn’t Yeosang help you?”
She shook her head. “Not really, he just told me about another guy who can help me. Something called a Dokkaebi. I don’t know what that is.”
Hongjoong let out a laugh, he had many run in with many Dokkaebi. They were fun because of how mischievous they were. He had a lot of fun with them but sometimes they were really mean and annoying.
“And all it costed was a promise to bring him to the city.” Haneul added proud of herself. That made Hongjoong laugh louder.
“aish, you really are a human, you dummy.” He said and flicked her head. Haneul gasped. “Dummy? How dare you.”
“Great you owe something to a Fae. This is absolutely amazing.” He hissed out and Haneul looked at his confusedly.
She rubbed her head and answered. “You said he was your friend.”
“Yeah but I’m not going around making deals with him.” Hongjoong ran his hand through his hair.
Haneul turned to the Demon going to say something but before she could, someone pulled her away and spun her from the Demon. Hongjoong cocked his eyebrow as he saw San with a concerned expression.
He cupped her face. “Are you okay? Did anything happen?” San bombarded the woman with questions checking to see if anything had happened.
“She’s fine but Miss Talks-a-lot made a promise with a Fae.” Hongjoong added and pulled another cigarette from his pack. San looked from the Demon to the woman who put her hands on his shoulders and smiled.
“I’m fine San. I’m glad that you’re worrying about me but can we just go home?” She bent down and picked up the umbrella that San had dropped. The rain had lightened up significantly but San looked drenched, she hoped that he didn’t sit out in the rain worrying about her.
Haneul turned and rushed up to the car, getting into the back and slamming the door closed. Hongjoong took a step closer to the Werewolf, he flicked open his lighter and brought the flame up to the end of his cigarette before flicking it close.
“Don’t look so eager, San. Your puppy’s showing.” He said with a smirk as he blew the smoke into San’s face. The cigarette hung lazily between his lips as he walked across the street and towards the car, instead of getting into the back with Haneul, he opened up the passanger side door.
San let out a growl before walking over to his car, he got into the drivers seat and turned on the ignition. The car sped down the road, the drive silent as Haneul leaned against the window. Her eyes were fixed on the outside.
“So what did you promise him?” San asked looking through the rearview mirror like a dad checking in on their kid.
“To take him into the city.” Haneul mumbled just enough for him to hear. San sighed. “That’s not the worst thing you could’ve promised.”
A small smile flickered on her lips, but she just stared at the moving scenery. The car rolled back into the city which seemed to be clearing up, the sky wasn’t as gray now. It didn’t look as bad as this morning. San groaned as he saw all the spots near his cafe and parked just down the street. They all got out and started towards the cafe.
“It was really nice there.” Haneul said quietly as they continued down the street. A smile crossed her face. “It’s crazy to think that he was in the city when cars were still new and now you have so much knowledge at your fingertips.”
San nodded as he pulled his keys from his pocket and walked up to the door, he went to unlock the door but it opened without an issue. San’s eyes went open as Hongjoong moved and pushed Haneul behind him. San furrowed his eyebrows as he got ready to fight whoever was stupid enough to still from a Werewolf. He slid his hand behind his back as his claws grew.
The two men walked in slowly as Haneul hid behind the Demon. Their eyes swept through the cafe hearing the sounds of dogs whining and San’s eyes landed on the person sitting at one of the tables. Hongjoong stepped forward and made a wall in front of Haneul.
“Finally some damn service.” the man said and leaned back in the chair.
“Who are you?” San called out, Haneul peaked around the two men to see who was in the cafe.
The unknown man stood up. “Someone called for a Dokkaebi.”
Haneul’s eyes went wide as she perked up, her feel pulled her around the Demon and the Werewolf as she held up her hand.
“That was me.” Haneul said and the two men relaxed. San closed his hand handing his claws. “Yeosang said that a Dokkaebi could help.”
Hongjoong cleared his throat and pulled Haneul to the side. She rolled her eyes hating how he always seemed to pull her around.
“Can you stop pulling me.” Haneul hissed out
Hongjoong interrupted the girl. “Do you seriously want to trust a Dokkaebi? They’re worse than…me.”
Haneul rolled her eyes. “Well I’ve already made a deal with a Demon and a Fae so it can’t get worse can it?”
The Dokkaebi looked around and at them. He cleared his throat and crossed his arms. He didn’t like San glaring at him or the whispering happening in the corner. He rubbed his neck.
“Can we hurry this up, I’m kinda on the run from the gods.” Haneul gasped as he said that. She almost ran up to him yelling out. “You know the gods?”
Wooyoung stepped back, making some room between him and the woman. He chuckled a bit nervously. “Yes but we’re not on the best terms.”
“he works for Seokga, that-“ San said hissing out, he took a step forward. Hongjoong stepped in front of the Werewolf stopping him mid sentence. San looked at the Demon as he shook his head.
Haneul shook her head and continued. “It doesn’t matter, can you help me get to the gods?”
Wooyoung looked from the girl, his eyes locked with San before they flicked over to Hongjoong. The Goblin turned away and cleared his throat to suppress the smile and laugh.
“Why should I?” He asked and Haneul gasped. “I’m so glad you deci-what?” Wooyoung crossed his arms and shrugged. “I could help you but why should I?”
Hongjoong stepped forward and spoke mirroring the Goblin’s posture. “Because I’m sure there will be some mischief along the way, and no Dokkaebi would be willing to say no.”
Wooyoung gulped, his mouth opened and closed. San chuckled a bit as Hongjoong smirked. They had backed him in a corner, he mumbled something under his breath. He really did like mischief.
“How about we talk over some food?” Haneul asked glaring back at the Demon. She needed help from the gods and this Dokkaebi was her only lead so Haneul didn’t need Hongjoong scaring him away.
“Yes!” Wooyoung’s eyes went wide, he liked food just as much as mischief. “A plate of buckwheat jelly, and some sorghum and red bean rice cakes would be nice.”
Haneul sat across the Goblin, barely on the edge of her seat as she watched the man stuff his mouth full of food. the smell of buckwheat and red bean filled the cafe, San walked out from behind the counter and placed a plate of red bean cakes on the table. Wooyoung thanked the Werewolf through a mouthful of food. Hongjoong pulled up a chair and straddled the seat.
“So how do you know Yeosang?” Hongjoong asked trying to make conversation. Wooyoung looked up. “We used to go out a lot. He couldn’t use his powers so he relied on me until he met you.”
He glared over at Hongjoong before shoveling more food into his mouth. Haneul tapped her finger against the table impatiently, the woman sighed.
“Can you find the gods?” He froze and looked back up at Haneul. Her eyes begged him.
“It depends, Mireuk doesn’t like my kind.”
“Wouldn’t think that would stop a Dokkaebi.” Hongjoong mumbled out.
They jumped at the sound of the metal chopsticks hitting the plate. His eyes locked with Hongjoong and the two glared at each other, not saying anything. She rolled her eyes and got up, this time it was her who was dragging Hongjoong away instead of him. He hissed as she grabbed his collar and pulled him out of earshot.
“Ow, that hurt.” He whined rubbing his neck. Haneul rolled her eyes. “Get over it you big baby.”
“What? Why’d you pull me over?”
“I need you to stop it.”
“Stop what?” He asked smirking
Haneul hissed out. “Screwing with my people.”
“What do you mean screwing?”
She was at the edge of her wits with him, he had been nothing but a pain in her ass. As soon as she could break this curse, the better.
“I need you to play nice, okay? I don’t care if you don’t like them or don’t get along with them, the sooner we can find the gods and get my powers back, the sooner we can break this deal.”
Hongjoong fake pouted a bit. “I’m a little sad you want to get rid of me that soon.” He gasped and put his hand against his chest. “You’d chose dog breath and one-leg over me?”
“This is what I’m talking about, this is serious Hongjoong. He is our gateway to the gods.” She hissed out before just giving up. “Stay back here while I take care of it.”
“Come on, it was just a joke.” He laughed out as Haneul walked back up to the table.
Wooyoung was almost done with his food when Haneul had come back to the table. He gulped and looked from the woman, he could feel her eyes glare into him. Hongjoong stood leaning against the wall but his eyes were locked on the Dokkaebi.
“Listen, I need this.” Haneul said softly. “I need to get to the gods and I need your help. I’ll pay you.”
He cocked his eyebrow at the mention of money, he leaned back in his seat and gulped the bit. “How much?”
“Enough.” San hissed out as he grabbed the almost empty plates. Wooyoung wasn’t done but he was too scared to say anything different to the Werewolf.
A smile crossed his lips. “I have to speak to Seokga, so let’s meet tomorrow. I’ll send you the location, make sure you bring the money.”
The Dokkaebi got up and walked out of the doors. None of them moved to do anything, Haneul just sighed as San and Hongjoong moved to the girl. Wooyoung laughed as he left the cafe before pulling his phone out.
“Seokga, yeah I got a couple of suckers.” He laughed into the phone and continued down the street.
Hongjoong watched as the man walked away, he didn’t have a good feeling about this but he couldn’t say anything. Haneul wouldn’t listen to reason. So he just turned to the woman who seemed lost in thought, and walked up to her.
“Hey.” He said softly as he touched her shoulder. “’I’ll take you to your house.”
She nodded and stood up, she waved goodbye to San before following Hongjoong out of the building and up to his car. It was already almost night and Haneul wondered how much time had passed when she was with Yeosang. She didn’t have much time but at least her time spent there would live on forever.
••••
Hongjoong never felt like this, so confused on what he was supposed to be feeling. The Demon never cared before, that’s how all Demons were made. Empathy was a foreign concept to him, nothing more than a thing that he saw in shows and movies. He though humans were stupid for caring more than they should for people that were nothing but horrible to them but as he stared at the woman who sat in the passenger side seat, he almost felt bad for her.
His hand ran over his chest pushing harshly where his heart laid, a hiss left his lips as it felt like something was twisting it. Hongjoong blamed it on the stupid curse, if he wasn’t connected to her, if only he didn’t have to so all this for her. Haneul lifted her head from the window and looked over at the Demon, she always hated seeing someone in distress no matter who they were or if she liked them or not.
“Are you okay?” She asked, the Demon nodded and groaned. “My chest feels tight.”
Haneul shifted in her seat, so that she was facing him better. She clapped her hands together before rubbing them together, feeling her hands heating up. Hongjoong looked from the road over at Haneul, he let out a small chuckle confused on what she was doing. The woman was becoming weirder the more human she was becoming.
“What are you-“ Hongjoong went to ask but before he could finish his question, Haneul leaned over and pressed her hand against his chest. A warm feeling spreading across his chest.
Blush immediately covered his cheeks as he looked down for a second seeing her warm hand on his chest. Haneul used her other hand to push her hair behind her ear and hummed a bit. He looked over at the girl, blinking for a bit as she seemed too focused on her hand.
“What.” He said as he cleared his throat.
“Huh?” Haneul looked up and Hongjoong looked back at the road before her eyes could meet his.
“What are you doing?” He asked and Haneul shrugged. “Helping.”
His hand slowly moved going to meet her hand when all of the sudden, Haneul changed her hands. She pressed the ice cold water bottle she had against his chest. Hongjoong yelled out as the car swerved a bit, Haneul immediately pulled the water bottle back as her head hit the door.
“What was that for?” Haneul yelled and rubbed her head. Hongjoong shouted back. “What was that for?” He asked pointing to the water bottle.
Haneul answered. “It helps with anxiety, Yeonjun used to do that to me when I got anxiety attacks.” Her voice grew softer as she turned away from the man. “You said your chest hurt so I though that I would help you.”
Haneul placed her water bottle against her head where she had hit it against the door. Her mouth was turned up in a frown as she leaned as far away from him as she could. Hongjoong rolled his eyes but he gulped as his chest felt fine, sure his heart was racing but it wasn’t hurting anymore. He glared over at the woman, it was still unnecessary. The Demon leaned forward and turned on the radio filling the silence with whatever song was on at the time. Besides the soft song, the ride was silent. Every so often, Hongjoong heard a soft sniffle coming from where Haneul sat. He was glad when they finally pulled up to Haneul’s apartment building.
“We’re here.” He said coldly as he opened the door and slammed it shut.
Haneul scoffed as she watched the Demon walk away. “That asshole, I was helping.” Finally she got out of the car slamming the door as she chased after the man.
She was happy to be home, but rolled her eyes as she watched Hongjoong saunter around like he lived there as well. He threw his coat on the back of a chair as he fell on the couch.
“I’m gonna order takeout, what do you want?” He asked nonchalantly. Haneul scoffed and didn’t answer as she walked to the bathroom and slammed the door shut.
This was what Hongjoong was talking about, humans were too emotional and they were hard to read. Just a second ago she seemed so happy, happy enough to help and now Haneul was giving him the cold shoulder? If that’s how she wanted to play, then Hongjoong would happily play.
Haneul let out a groan as she leaned back against the door, she hated him. The woman ran her hands over her face and moved from the door, she plugged up the bathtub before turning on the water. Haneul sat on the edge of the tub moving her hand through the water as it filled up before turning off the water when she thought it was filled enough.
She stood up and peeled off her clothes as if she was getting rid of all the bad things that had happened throughout the day. The water seemed to wash away what was left of the sucky day, all the thoughts of the Dokkaebi and Hongjoong seemed to dissipate and rise up into the air like the steam from the bath. Slowly Haneul sunk lower and lower into the bath until her head was under water.
Outside, Hongjoong paced around the floor. He was too restless to watch tv for some reason and he couldn’t do anything else. Finally he sighed and made his way out onto the patio, he went to fish out his cigarette pack but shook his head and reached into his other pocket and pulled out his phone. he thumbed through his contacts before pressing on one and brought it up to his ear.
Hongjoong just sighed as he dropped his head. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
A man’s voice answered the phone. “What’s up Hongjoong?” He sounded happy.
“I need you to look up someone for me.” Hongjoong answered, his friend hummed over on the other end. The Demon could hear as the man moved in his own house. “It’s for my friend.” Hongjoong added.
“Who is this person?”
“Choi Jongho, he was an official in the Joseon period.”
The man laughed. “Wah, you’re making me search up someone who died? Who is this for?”
“Can you do it or not?” Hongjoong hissed out making his friend laugh. “Okay, okay I understand.”
Hongjoong still didn’t fully understand why he was doing this but here he was helping some human.

‘Moving’ Episode 20: Han Hyo Joo, Ryu Seung Ryong, Zo In Sung’s Characters Find Their Happy Ending

The Disney+ original series ‘Moving’ has come to an end with its 20th episode, delivering a satisfying conclusion for the characters and the viewers. The superhero action drama, based on the webtoon by Kang Full, starred Han Hyo Joo, Ryu Seung Ryong, Zo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, and other talented actors as people with hidden superpowers who fight against dark forces.
‘Moving’ Episode 20: The Final Battle

(Photo : Disney+) The finale episode began with a tense showdown between Lee Mi Hyun (Han Hyo Joo) and Jung Joon Hwa (Yang Dong Geun), a North Korean soldier who also has the ability to fly. Mi Hyun was in danger of being killed by Joon Hwa, but her son Kim Bong Seok (Lee Jung Ha) came to her rescue and fought against him. However, Mi Hyun wanted Bong Seok to run away, knowing that the North Korean troop leader Kim Deok Yoon (Park Hee Soon) was aiming a gun at him. Fortunately, Bong Seok was saved by Jeon Gye Do (Cha Tae Hyun), who used his electromagnetic power to kill Joon Hwa. Deok Yoon then tried to escape with the files that contained the secrets of the superpowered people, but he was chased by Jang Joo Won (Ryu Seung Ryong) and Lee Jae Man (Kim Sung Kyun) to the rooftop.

(Photo : Disney+ Korea) Joo Won and Jae Man confronted Deok Yoon, who revealed that he had been working for Frank (Ryoo Seung Bum), a mysterious man who wanted to use the superpowers for his own agenda. Deok Yoon also confessed that he was the one who killed Jae Man’s father 50 years ago, when he was part of a secret mission to capture the superpowered people. Deok Yoon then tried to jump off the building with the files, but he was stopped by Joo Won, who grabbed his arm. Jae Man then shot Deok Yoon in the chest, causing him to fall. Joo Won managed to hold on to the files and pulled himself up.
The Aftermath

(Photo : Disney+ Korea) A year later, the superpowered people were living normal lives without being hunted by anyone. Jang Hee Soo (Go Youn Jung) and Lee Kang Hoon (Kim Do Hoon) graduated from high school with their parents’ attendance, except for Bong Seok and Mi Hyun, who had gone into hiding since the incident. Joo Won continued his chicken business with Kwon Young Deuk (Park Gwang Jae), a former North Korean soldier who became his assistant. Hee Soo entered the university’s physical education department and became friends with Shin Hye Won (Shim Dal Gi), a girl who had super speed. Kang Hoon visited Mr. Min (Moon Sung Geun), the head of the NIS, and expressed his desire to join the agency with one condition: to clear his father’s name from criminal records. Mr. Min agreed and revealed that Kang Hoon’s father was actually a hero who sacrificed himself to protect the superpowered people from Frank.

(Photo : Disney+ Korea) Kang Hoon also met the school guard and his classmate who disguised themselves as part of Jeonwon High School, but in reality they were high-ranking NIS officials who had been monitoring the superpowered people. Bong Seok and Mi Hyun left town and lived a peaceful life in a rural area. They occasionally received letters from Hee Soo and Kang Hoon, who updated them on their lives. Hee Soo also told them about a superhero wearing a yellow cape who appeared in Seoul and saved people from danger. In the last scene, it was revealed that the superhero was Kim Doo Shik (Zo In Sung), Bong Seok’s father and Mi Hyun’s husband, who had been held captive by Frank for 50 years. He managed to escape with the help of Park Il Chan (Jo Bok Rae), a North Korean soldier who sympathized with him. Doo Shik returned to South Korea and killed Frank, who had been hiding as an American businessman named Mark (Daniel C Kennedy). He then reunited with his family and hugged them tightly.

Okay, but I need a fic where Cha Young is sick and Vincenzo is taking care of her à la The Hating Game.
Give me a Vincenzo who is fretting as every minute passes because Cha Young hasn’t come in for work nor is she answering her phone, and Mr. Nam who is also low-key anxious, because even though Cha Young is not always the most punctual person, the only time the two lawyers come in late is if they’ve stopped by a cafe to get coffees for the three of them, and Cassano Byeonhosanim is already here in the Jipuragi office so where is Hong Byeonhosanim?
Give me a Cha Young who was so sick the night before, she forgot to charge her phone at night, and her now dead phone has some 20 missed calls from Vincenzo and Mr. Nam each.
Give me a worried Vincenzo who drives as fast as he can to Cha Young’s house; who walks in (of course he knows the code and has his own set of spare keys to her house) and is surprised to see the kitchen a mess (because Cha Young isn’t fastidious, but she does hate a messy kitchen); and who heaves a huge sigh of relief to see her bundled under her blankets when he walks into her room.
Although that relief doesn’t last long when he realises just how sick she is. Give me Vincenzo placing a cool, damp washcloth on her forehead, forcing her to take meds and holding her hair when she throws up. Give me Vincenzo gently stroking her hair, and a very feverish Cha Young softly calling out “Eomma.. Abeoji.. Cenzo..” in her sleep.
Give me Mr. Nam dropping by with an overnight bag for Vincenzo (because there’s no way he’s going to leave Cha Young’s when she’s so sick).
Give me Ms. Kwak preparing and bringing over some juk and other comfort food, because Cha Young needs to eat home cooked food, and her juk always does the trick when Yeong Ho is sick. Also, she’s not sure if Mr. Cassano can cook. And she’s pretty sure he hasn’t given a thought to his meals either.
Give me Cheol Wook, Yeon Jin and Dal Rae dropping by with some fruits. The fruits are just an excuse -- Yeon Jin looks after Cha Young while Cheol Wook and Dal Rae make sure Vincenzo finally takes a few minutes to eat something. Also, little Dal Rae is the only one who succeeds in making her godfather smile (albeit a small one) that day.
Give me Han Seo, Mr. Cho, Mr. Tak, Director Ahn and Seok Do, all calling up Vincenzo in turns and offering to drive them both to the E.R. should the need arise. Han Seo offers to get his noona the best doctors from the best hospital in Seoul and even pay for the entire VIP floor of the hospital if needed.
Give me Mi Ri and Monk Chae Shin dropping by with tea and vitamins for Cha Young and offering to do small chores around the house like tidying up the kitchen. Give me Cha Young finally feeling a little better and telling Vincenzo he doesn’t need to stay, he can go home and rest now, she’ll be alright and him looking at her with the most intense look in his eyes and the softest, most resolute No, and that’s the end of that. Give me Cha Young hobbling to the bathroom to freshen up, and stopping in her tracks when she sees the now tidied up kitchen and living room, and all the food on her dining table, courtesy the Geumga family. Give me Cha Young leaning into Vincenzo for support, who is half hugging her and reassuringly rubbing her shoulder, and her tearing up slightly, because after her Abeoji’s death she thought she would never have a family again, but times like these make her so thankful for their crazy family. Give me Vincenzo changing the sheets on her bed and opening the windows in her room to let some fresh air in, while she’s in the bathroom freshening up.
Give me Yeong Ho dropping by in the evening because of an errand Mr. Cassano asked of him as a special favour: he’s brought them bungeoppang! Give me Cha Young and Vincenzo relaxing in the living room, because Cha Young is feeling much better now and she needs a change from her bedroom. They’re both on the couch watching the latest melo drama, with Cha Young’s feet in Vincenzo’s lap, and him cutting an apple into slices for her.
And imagine the amused expressions on both their faces when their Geumga Cassano family group chat blows up because everyone is texting to check in and see how the two of them are doing. And then Vincenzo does something very unlike him: he sends them a selfie of the two of them. And then the group chat really blows up, and Cha Young can’t stop laughing. But also, aish, did you have to take a pic when I’m looking like that, huh? And imagine Soo Nam texting “just get married already, why don’t you” and immediately deleting his text. But of course everyone’s seen it. Vincenzo and Cha Young don’t mention it to each other though. Although Vincenzo is already cursing Soo Nam in his head, because he already has a plan.
Give me Cha Young falling asleep as she lays huddled to Vincenzo’s side, and him arranging a throw around her, stroking her hair and kissing the top of her head softly, and then leaning back and closing his eyes and settling for a nap himself. Give me Cha Young waking up a few mins later, and seeing this sweet, tired man finally resting, and she smiles to herself and kisses his cheek and then snuggles again into him and closes her eyes. She’s finally feeling better.
Give me Cha Young and Vincenzo having dinner a couple hours later, with him low-key fussing over her because she needs to eat more to keep her strengths up. Give me Vincenzo handing Cha Young her meds, tucking her into bed once she’s taken them while she reiterates yet again that she’s fine, and him kissing her forehead and telling her to sleep well and then settling into the bedding that he’s laid on the floor by her bedside. Give me both of them having a staring match from their respective beds, until Vincenzo dozes off first, and Cha Young reaches out and touches his hair, now down and curling across his forehead, and mutters a soft gomawoyo, before giving in to sleep herself.

A Chance of Fate - Lee Know Stray Kids Fanfic (Masterlist)

Pairing: Minho (of Stray Kids) x OC (name: Dal-Rae)
Genre: non-idol AU, angst, romance, fluff, mature
Word Count: ~33k
Warnings: mature, swearing, feelings of hopelessness, angst, depression, crying, mentions of domestic violence, depression, anxiety, angst, low self-esteem etc.
This is just a story that doesn’t describe Stray Kids members' true characters in any way. It’s just a product of my imagination and should be treated as such.
This story is also on Wattpad (click here) and AO3 (click here)
A/N: As any other writer out there, I would appreciate reblogs and your comments on this story. Please let me know if you enjoyed it, and most importantly, have fun!
---
Summary:
$7, a small suitcase, a thin coat and some old, worn-out shoes that took you nowhere in particular were the only belongings you grabbed when you decided on a whim to leave your abusive ex during a cold winter night. With the merciless wind blowing right in your face, you weren't sure where to go, or what to do. The only thing you were sure of was that you could never return back home, not when you've thrown away your keys to ensure you'd stay strong. Tired and hungry, you stumbled by a chance of fate upon a small restaurant called 'Know Your Cats', and you decided to walk in.

Hello!
Storm here!
A Chance of Fate is a story I've started writing on 27/10/2022 (yes, two freaking years ago!!!) that 'collected dust on the shelves' until yesterday when I finally managed to finish it.
It has around 33k words divided in 10 chapters, and I'm very excited to post it, since it's a story I actually enjoy and I've been working on for quite some time as you can see, hahah.
Surprisingly, no smut whatsoever in this story, however, like each and every one of my works, it includes lots of mature themes, so it's 18+ either way.
Main character's name is Dal-Rae, story is however written in 2nd person, so you can expect most phrases to refer to "You".
I hope you'll enjoy this story and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts. ♡
---
The story and cover are original and my property. Any similarities to other stories are purely coincidental. Jieun, the protagonist, is a made-up character.
Stray Kids members or any other famous people mentioned along this story DO NOT represent their true character in any way, they are simply mentioned in order to provide a visual representation for the readers. Their personas obviously have nothing to do with their true personalities. They're just characters I've created for this story, so please don't take this too seriously.
Mature content ahead. Lots of trigger warnings apply, so please read carefully.

Pinocchio was by far one of the weirdest drama's I've ever seen.
Giving me very much Healer vibes, the drama had a great storyline and a very intriguing concept. The leads definitely had a lot of chemistry and I personally am a big (huge even) Lee Jong-Suk fan so I really have nothing to complain about ... apart from one thing.
*** mild spoilers ahead ***
As much as I tried to get used to it, I could not, for the love of God, come to terms with the fact that the two main characters were brought up in this fantasy cosplay of uncle and niece. What made it even weirder and gave me the ick was the fact that even after they started dating, Choi In-Na (our female lead) would continue calling Choi Dal-Po (our male lead) unlce. And in front of strangers too. It just didn't sit right with me.
And while I understand this could be a major cultural difference, it was the biggest thing that stopped me from rooting full on for our lovely OTP.
Otherwise, the drama was just right - it had the perfect amount of mystery and tension, with all the right twists and turns in all the right places.
And Lee Jong-Suk is an amazing actor who can bring any character come to life with just the perfect amount of charm and charisma!
Parl Shin-Hye, on the other hand, took a little adjusting to. Maybe because this is one of her earlier works but she was a little awkward with her acting and at times it did feel as if she was reciting the script word for word instead of playing a character.
The girl also cannot kiss to save her life and I'm glad she was able to learn at least a few tricks from Mr.Flirt himself.
She did, however, manage to add an adorable charm to her character with the hiccups.
The supporting characters were also very well though through. They each had their own unique storyline which was developed well enough.
My favourite character was definitely Seo Beom-Jo who underwent the most iconic character development. Even though I did spend the first half of the drama hating his guts, he's definitely someone to hold on to in the long run.
In addition to Beom Jo, I also really appreciated Yoon Yoo-Rae's character who reminded me of myself when I first joined journalism school too.

Pinocchio was a gripping ride and proved once again that Lee Jong Suk is made for revenge dramas. Can't deny the fact that the side characters outshined the male and female leads. The redemption arc of Song Cha Ok was sooo satisfying to watch. Ki Jae Myeong was an equally interesting character to decode and showed how people aren't always necessarily black and white. Seo Beom Jo, however, remains my favourite as a modern day retelling of Prince Charming 💕 He has to deal with major upheavals in his life but he only emerges from that turbulence to be an even kinder and understanding version of himself. Dal Po's share of misfortunes was quite overwhelming and only made me sigh but Choi In Ha's crying made me literally want to break my television screen. Interestingly, if you trace the growth of Lee Yu-bi's acting career who plays Yoon yoo rae here, you will find that she keeps taking on similar roles, be it in Innocent Man, Pinocchio or Yumi's cells, and that might feel a bit monotonous.

Alright but just imagine –
After spending all that time with Dal Rae ( there are days when he’s officially on babysitting duty, and days when he’s hanging with Cheol Wook and Dal Rae because Cha Young, Yeon Jin and Mi Ri have gone out for some girl’s time, leaving these guys alone at Geumga Plaza), Vincenzo has Baby Shark stuck in his head. Because spending time with a baby in today’s time inevitably leads to having that song being played on a loop at some point. And let’s be honest, Baby Shark is an absolute earworm.
And that’s how Vincenzo ends up humming the song around the Jipuragi office from time to time.
Like he’s watering the plants in the office or making coffee or looking for some files and he’ll just randomly go “do do do doo doo do” and CY and Mr. Nam are just like.. 👀 👀 (kinda like how they looked at him when he was eating that sweet potato and had that smudge on his nose).
