SEVENTEEN FIC RECS
a list of seventeen fics I really enjoyed! pls go and show these amazing authors some love <3 also if there wasn't a summary on the fic I just included a little paragraph or the request! now onto the recs â
CHOI SEUNGCHEOL
HELLO TUTORIAL - @97-liners
oneshot, fluff, college au, frat au
itâs your final year of college, and youâve been elected president of your sorority. this is all great and fine, but as the semester goes on, you find yourself having repeated run-ins with the president of the fraternity next door in a series of unfortunate coincidences (that might not actually be coincidences, as you come to discover). or: in which youâre trying to deal with your crush on seungcheol in a normal way, but the meddling kids are making it harder than it needs to be.
FRACTURED PARENTING, PT.2 - @berriesandjunnie
oneshot angst, fluff, idol au, separated parents au, enemies to lovers
parenting can be an emotional rollercoaster when youâre far from divorced and the flames are far from dying.
YOON JEONGHAN
UNTITLED - @userjuyo
drabble, fluff, est relationship
"i just know than jeonghan would tease his s/o a lot, but whenever they went âhannie :(â he would literally MELT like heâd just be like âokay sweetheart iâm sorry đ„șâ and the members would be like ????? BC HE WONâT LET THEM LIVE but itâs his baby so <;3"
UNTITLED - @wqnwoos
drabble, fluff, est relationship
âwhat if crabs think that fish can fly?â your question is whispered into the darkness of your bedroom â you gazing at the ceiling thoughtfully, while jeonghan curls up beside you.
OF RAINY NIGHTS AND ROSES - @chenfleur
oneshot, angst, fluff, idol au, est relationship
In the heat of the moment, Jeonghan grows careless with his words. Now, he has to bear the weight of saying things he didn't mean.
DAISIES - @viastro
oneshot, angst, fluff, strangers to lovers
the best type of revenge is to hurt the person that means the most to them. aka, in which jeonghan is in charge of making you fall in love with him, just to break your heart.Â
JOSHUA HONG
BEST FRIENDS BROTHER - @chocosvt
oneshot, fluff, angst, smut, best friends brother
joshua happens to be your best friendâs older brother. heâs pretty, and heâs got a lot of cool details about him that you pay a concerning amount of attention to, but heâs just a friend (if you could even call it that). still, what does he think of you, anyway? that isâif he thinks of you.
IT TAKES TWO - @/berriesandjunnie
oneshot, fluff, idol au, parent au, est relationship
a family is a little scary when your partner has over millions of fans.
UNTITLED - @/wqnwoos
drabble, fluff, est relationship
"it feels like the sky has only just welcomed the sun when joshua tries to get up to leave."
WEN JUNHUI
HEAVEN COULDN'T WAIT FOR YOU - @/berriesandjunnie
oneshot, angst, idol au
i just couldnât stand to see you leaving but heaven couldnât wait for you.
HAPPY ENDING - @junkissed
one shot, angst, fluff, marriage, est relationship
a pointless argument escalates until both of you need some space, but it couldn't come at a worse time.
KWON SOONYOUNG
LET ME TRY AGAIN - @papermatisse
oneshot, angst, fluff, exes to lovers, parent au
Soonyoung had never wanted to live a restrained capitalistic life, forced to work a tiresome 9 to 5, paying taxes until the day he dies. Though in exchange to pursue the other option, that being devotion to a career, he had to pay an unfathomably large priceâhe had to abandon everything and everyone he's ever loved. can he fit himself back into his former life? one that's changed more than he can possibly imagine? could the ones he loved forgive him for his wrongdoings? could he get the second chance he wants so desperately?
(UN)TRADITIONAL - @neonun-au
oneshot, fluff, wedding au, est relationship
"The digital clock on the hotel night stand flashes the next minute as it passes. A re-run of Law & Order: SVU drones on in the background as you sit at the edge of the bed, staring sleeplessly at your wedding dress hanging on the back of the closet door. "
VOWELS AND VERACITY - @hansolmates
oneshot, fluff, angst, smut, teacher au, single parent
after a blind date that makes you feel like a giddy teenager all over again, youâre forced to grow up and take a chance when you realize that special someone is your daughterâs kindergarten teacher.
BE SWEET - @heartkyeom
oneshot, fluff, angst, smut, royalty, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers
âWhy are you here?â Your tone is resolute, not allowing for even an inch of resistance. âThatâs what we need to talk about. Weâre getting married,â He lifts the corner of his mouth. You let out a laugh that is nowhere near polite, in fact, youâre nearly cackling at the prospect of this idea. Itâs simply so outlandish, so fantastical that every time you look at his face it seems more unfathomable.
JEON WONWOO
FOR THE BOOKS - @trblsvt
oneshot, fluff, teacher au, est relationship
wonwoo's students seemed intent on matching him up with a fellow teacher. he didn't really want to stop them, it was too funny for him to break up their fun. plus, he didn't mind the certain someone he was being "set up" with.
HOW TO FALL - @because-of-a-friend
oneshot, fluff, angst, idol au
"hi!! <3 i love ur acc and i was wondering if you'd be able to write an imagine where you're besties with joshua and he invites you to meet the rest of seventeen for the first time and you instantly fall for wonwoo? maybe some angst but overall fluff? thank you!! no rush!! i love your work!!!"
UNTITLED - @/97-liners
oneshot, fluff, royalty au, friends to lovers, childhood friends
"a royalty au where youâre the heir to the throne and wonwoo is your shy (and lowkey bumbling) royal advisorâŠ. heâs smart and always has his head stuck in a book but heâs also painfully awkward and clueless to how deeply in love with him you are. until your parents decide itâs time for you to get married. and suddenly youâre inundated by suitor after suitor, and wonwoo is quizzing them on their credentials and doubting their suitability for you, this one makes brash political decisions, this one spends too freely, this one has no tact for diplomacy. until one day, you turn to him and ask, âyouâve hated every single one of them. who, then, do you think i should marry?â and wonwoo blushes red and presses his lips together."
SCANDAL, PT.2, PT.3, PT.4- @fantasyescapes17

this is part of an extensive series that includes other members! you can check it out ″ here
The Viscount's sister with an enormous dowry, beauty and unmistakable talent- you began the London season as the most desired woman in any room. But Jeon Wonwoo (a man who would rather hide in the library than dance at a ball) is beyond your comprehension. Curiosity might have killed the cat, but it embroiled you into a scandal with a man you could never love.
MEET CUTE OF THE CENTURY - @lovelyhan
oneshot, fluff, angst, smut, idol au, strangers to lovers
the last thing you expected when you volunteered at your cityâs local animal shelter is to meet the hottest cat person in the world. now if only heâd just adopt one of them so youâd stop ogling him every time he drops by.

To love something, to admire it, is to feel aggressive when itâs questioned, to want to control it, if even for a little while- itâs the need to consume it, endlessly, as my fans consume and control me as an automaton. Even though Iâm a member of a group, thereâs a distance. Automatons can never truly motivate each other because our motivations are based on external human needs, itâs built into us- We can see when humans need us, and we do what we can to fix that need⊠I know you need me, the way Iâve needed you since I got here.â (god, yall dont even know how much i freaking love their fics. like bro, ily)

(i need me some more dino fics cause i barely come across any)
Loving Him Was Red || @boowanieđđâ
đŻ
ⳠAfter the café you were part-timing at suddenly closes, you were left unemployed and broke as you tried your best to look for a new job. But when your best friend suggests an alternative way of earning money, you suddenly find yourself falling for a certain Jeon Wonwoo.

DAD...ARE WE HAMSTERS? FT. KWON SOONYOUNG
I had to đ
Genre: Family au, fluff, humour, crack au
Pairings: Dad!Soonyoung x named mom!reader
Warnings: FLUFF
"Dad...are we hamsters?" Soonyoung choked and spat out his coffee almost immediately after his eldest Taeyang asked him with a pout.
"WHO-WHAT-WHY-NO! Who said we're hamsters?!" He exclaimed as Taeyang pouted more.
"Ji-ah!" Taeyang exclaimed making Soonyoung gasp.
"She called you a hamster?!" Soonyoung exclaimed as he shook his head.
"No! She said our whole family were hamsters!" he pouted as Hoshi gasped and fell to the floor.
"Yoon Jeonghannn!! The betrayal!"
"There he goes again~" Taeyang perked up at the sound of his mother's voice.
"Eomma!" Taeyang went over towards the kitchen to hug his mother who had just returned from the mall.
"There's my sunshine!" she exclaimed picking him up into her embrace as she kissed his cheek.
"Honey! Guess what!! Ji-ah said that we are a hamster family!" Soonyoung exclaimed making Sieun chuckle as she patted her husband's shoulder.
"Ji-ah is a child, she's just joking. Besides who cares if people think we're a hamster family? If we think we're tigers then we're tigers, don't look for people's approval." she said while caressing Taeyang's hair making Soonyoung smiled as he pulled the both of them for a hug.
"You're right...thanks honey, you always know how to make us feel better...right Taeyangie?" Soonyoung asked his son who beamed.
"Yes! I love you eomma!" he exclaimed and kissed her cheek making her chuckle as Soonyoung placed a kiss on his wife's forehead.
"He's right, we love you soo much!" he exclaimed.
"I love my boys too!" she exclaimed and brought her hand forward.
"Kwon!" she exclaimed as Taeyang excitedly put his hand over his mother's.
"Kwon!"
"KWON!" Soonyoung exclaimed as the three of them cheered.
"WE ARE THE KWOOOONNNNS!!" They shouted loudly and threw their hands up in the air.
They flinched when they heard the loud roars of crying erupting from the nursery.
"Yumi and Yuri!" Sieun exclaimed and put Taeyang down and ran towards the nursery as Soonyoung picked Taeyang up.
"Now that is what you call a tigers roar!" Soonyoung exclaimed and looked at Taeyang who covered his ears.
"Don't worry, you were 5 times louder than this!" Soonyoung said earning a pout from his son.
"Both of you! Don't just stand there! Go calm them down, I need to go get their diapers!" Sieun exclaimed making them flinch as they hurried to the nursery.
"Yes, ma'am!" they both saluted her and entered the nursery.
"See, that's why I fell in love with your eomma!" Soonyoung whispered to Taeyang as they began entertaining his baby sisters.
"We are tigers...I know it for sure now!" Taeyang exclaimed and proceeded to sing for his sisters.
"That...we are." Soonyoung mumbled as he looked at his growing son with a proud smile as he tried to calm his sisters down.

âdad!wonwooâ â hcs
âžâžà Ë. fluff . head-cannons . dad au
â pairings : dad!wonwoo x f!reader â note : I think I have smth called Wonwoo fever help [âȘâȘâȘ] · your summer, my sea by ???
đâ. dad!wonwoo who, somehow, knows how to handle everything. A to Z.
â And you're surprised because now you just sit beside and watch Wonwoo do everything for the baby. From bathing to feeding, everything.
đâ. dad!wonwoo who screamed internally when; in a family gathering, the baby only stopped crying when they rested in Wonwoo's embrace. It was a proud moment for him.
â like, "Look, I'm their father! The one and only."
đâ. dad!wonwoo who'd sometimes forget to kiss you before leaving for practice because he is in a "hurry." (he didn't forget to peck the baby's cheek and tiny hands.)
â but always makes it up to you by pampering you with extra kisses by the end of the day.
đâ. dad!wonwoo who'd swear that he had left the baby's pacifier by the cupboard, only to find it in his bag.
â he has a habit of carrying baby essentials with him, even if the baby isn't there. (IM BLUSHING)
đâ. dad!wonwoo who'd get upset if you end up sleeping by the end of the day instead of staying awake for him.
â he understands that you need rest, but the whole day passes by him leaving for practice, taking care of the baby with you. The only time he can cuddle and kiss you is before sleeping (please don't get him pouting đż)
đâ. dad!wonwoo who has everything handled. You don't need to lift a finger, he already has it controlled.
đâ. dad!wonwoo who'd slowly hold the baby's hand while it is sleeping, and smile to himself that - the little human beside him was a creation of you and him.
â the thought made him giddy; that it was a tiny version of the love you and Wonwoo have shared for years.

Seungcheol burst through your front door, not even bothering to knock, looking slightly frazzled and out of breath. You were sitting on the living room floor with Areum, helping her color in a princess-themed coloring book, when he made his dramatic entrance.
"What's going on?" you asked, raising an eyebrow as Areum looked up, wide-eyed at her dad's sudden arrival.
"Daddy!" Areum exclaimed, abandoning her crayons and running over to hug him. He scooped her up with a brief smile but quickly turned his attention to you.
"I need your help," he said, his voice low and urgent.
You blinked, confused by his tone. "Help with what? Are you in trouble?"
"Yes," he replied immediately, setting Areum back down and stepping closer to you. "Big trouble. The boys are trying to set me up on a blind date, and I need an alibi."
"So, let me get this straight. Your *big trouble* is a blind date?" you stared at him for a moment, your lips twitching as you try not to laugh
"It's not funny," he protested, running a hand through his hair "Jeonghan and Joshua have been hounding me about it for weeks, and now they've gone and actually arranged something. They told the girl I was available. *Available!* Can you believe that?"
"Well..." you started, unable to keep the teasing tone out of your voice. "You *are* technically available, Seungcheol. You're single, remember?"
He narrowed his eyes at you, clearly unamused. "That's not the point. I don't want to go."
"Then just say no?" you suggested, shrugging
"They wonât take no for an answer! Theyâll guilt-trip me into going somehow. You know how they are." He sighed, flopping onto your couch like a man defeated. "That's why I need you to help me. Pretend Iâm busy. Say weâve got plans. Somethingâanythingâto get me out of this."
"And why would I do that?" confused, you ask him
"Because..." He paused, looking genuinely desperate now. "Youâre my only hope."
Before you could respond, Areum piped up, her little voice curious. "Daddy, what's a 'blind date'?"
Seungcheol winced, glancing at you for help. You smirked, not about to let him off the hook that easily. "Oh, it's when someone goes out with a stranger to see if they like each other," you explained casually. "Your dad's friends think he needs a girlfriend."
Areum's eyes went wide. "A girlfriend? But Daddy doesn't need a girlfriend. He has Mommy!"
Both you and Seungcheol froze at her innocent declaration, and then your cheeks flushed. You quickly looked away, focusing on the coloring book in front of you.
Seungcheol, on the other hand, seemed to perk up at Areumâs words.
"See?" he said, pointing at her as if she'd just made his case. "Even Areum agrees. I donât need a girlfriend." as if his five year old's daughter is the only thing making sense right now.
You rolled your eyes, fighting a smile.
"Fine," you relented. "What exactly do you want me to say to get you out of this?"
"Anything!" he said quickly, leaning forward. "Just tell them weâre doing something together this weekend. A family thing. They'll back off if they think I'm spending time with you and Areum."
"You're so dramatic," you muttered, shaking your head. "But okay, I'll help you. This time."
"Thank you. Youâre a lifesaver." he grinned, looking ridiculously pleased with himself.
"Yeah, yeah," you said, waving him off. "But you owe me for this."
"Deal," he said without hesitation, standing up and pulling Areum into his arms. "You hear that, princess? Daddyâs off the hook, thanks to Mommy."
Areum giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're silly, Daddy."
Seungcheol laughed, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Yeah, I am. But donât tell uncle Jeonghan and uncle Joshua that, okay? Itâs our little secret."
As he left your apartment, looking far more relaxed than when heâd arrived, you couldnât help but shake your head at the whole situation. Seungcheol, despite all his bravado, could be such a dork sometimes.
Still, there was a small, unexpected warmth in your chest as you watched him leave. Even after everything, he always seemed to find his way back to you. No matter what excuse he needed to make it happen.
Later that evening, Seungcheol was sitting at home, blissfully unaware that his âalibiâ plan was about to backfire. He had just finished putting Areum to bed when his phone buzzed on the coffee table. Picking it up, he saw Jeonghanâs name on the screen.
He answered with a suspicious, âHello?â
âYou sneaky little liar,â Jeonghanâs voice greeted him, half-amused and half-accusing. âYou couldâve just said no, you know.â
Seungcheolâs stomach dropped. âWhat are you talking about?â
â*What am I talking about?* Oh, just the fact that we got a call from *her.*â Jeonghanâs emphasis on the word *her* was enough to make Seungcheolâs heart skip a beat.
âHer?â Seungcheol played dumb, even though he knew exactly who Jeonghan meant.
âYour lovely *ex-wife,*â Jeonghan said, clearly enjoying this. âShe called to tell us youâre busy this weekend because youâre spending time with her and Areum. Ring any bells?â
Seungcheol groaned, rubbing his face. âShe wasnât supposed to actually call you! She was just supposed to tell me to tell youââ
âWell, she called anyway,â Jeonghan interrupted, snickering. âAnd let me just say, it was a very enlightening conversation. Joshua and I were on speakerphone with her, by the way.â
âOh, great,â Seungcheol muttered, already dreading what was coming next
âShe sounded so sweet, too,â Joshua chimed in, suddenly joining the call. âTold us youâd be having a family day. Said you were a great dad and how nice it was that you prioritized Areum.â
âI am a great dad,â Seungcheol defended, even though he knew where this was going
âAnd then,â Jeonghan continued, his voice dripping with mischief, âshe thanked us for âunderstanding.â Understanding *what,* Seungcheol? That youâre still hopelessly hung up on her?â
âIâm not hung up on her!â Seungcheol snapped, though his face was burning
âOh, please,â Jeonghan said, laughing now. âYou *ran* to her to avoid going on a blind date. If that doesnât scream âstill in love with my ex,â I donât know what does.â
âItâs not like that,â Seungcheol argued, even though he could hear how weak his own defense sounded
âThen whatâs it like?â Joshua asked innocently, though his tone suggested he already knew the answer
Seungcheol sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. âLook, I didnât want to go on the date, and it was the only way I could think of okay? Thatâs all it was.â
âSure,â Jeonghan said, drawing the word out. âAnd the fact that you still wear your wedding ring sometimes doesnât mean anything either, right?â
âI donâtââ Seungcheol started to protest, but Joshua cut him off.
âAnd the fact that youâre always making excuses to hang out with her and Areum? Totally not suspicious.â
âOr how about how you still call her whenever something important happens?â Jeonghan added. âLike that time you got promoted, and the *first* person you told wasnât us, but *her.*â
âOkay, enough!â Seungcheol snapped, though he couldnât deny any of it. He slumped back on the couch, glaring at the ceiling. âYou two are insufferable.â
âMaybe,â Jeonghan said, clearly enjoying this. âBut weâre not wrong, are we?â
There was a long pause, and for once, Seungcheol didnât have a quick comeback. Instead, he muttered, âIâm hanging up now,â and ended the call before they could say anything else.
As he set his phone down, Seungcheol sighed heavily. He hated how well Jeonghan and Joshua knew him. Hated how they could see right through him, even when he tried to deny it.
But most of all, he hated that they were right. Because no matter how much he tried to pretend otherwise, he wasnât over you.
Not even close.
The next weekend, Seungcheol found himself being herded into a bar by Jeonghan, Joshua, and a few other friends. He hadnât wanted to come, heâd rather be home with Areum or even by himself but Jeonghan had been persistent, and Seungcheol didnât have the energy to argue.
âCome on, Cheol,â Jeonghan said, throwing an arm around his shoulders as they walked inside. âYouâve been way too uptight lately. A night out is exactly what you need.â
Seungcheol grunted in response, scanning the bar. It was packed with people, the music loud enough to make casual conversation impossible. He could already feel the headache forming.
âIâll get us a table,â Joshua said, disappearing into the crowd
As they settled into a corner booth, Jeonghan smirked and gestured toward a group of women near the bar. âWhat about them? Think any of them would catch your eye, Cheol?â
Seungcheol shot him a glare. âNot interested.â
âOh, come on,â Jeonghan teased. âYou canât stay hung up onââ
âI said Iâm not interested,â Seungcheol interrupted, his tone sharper than he intended
Jeonghan raised his hands in mock surrender. âAlright, alright. No need to bite my head off.â
But Jeonghan being Jeonghan, he didnât let it drop. When the women eventually came over, clearly encouraged by Jeonghan and Joshua, Seungcheolâs discomfort was palpable
âHi,â one of the women said, flashing him a bright smile. âIâm Hyejin. And you are?â
âNot interested,â Seungcheol muttered, taking a sip of his drink without meeting her gaze.
Her smile faltered, but she didnât give up. âOh, come on. Youâre way too handsome to be sitting here brooding all night.â
Joshua tried to suppress a laugh while Jeonghan nudged him under the table, grinning like the devil himself.
âIâm fine, thanks,â Seungcheol said, still avoiding eye contact.
âDonât mind him,â Jeonghan said, ever the instigator. âHeâs just shy.â
Seungcheol glared at Jeonghan. âIâm not shy.â
âThen talk to her,â Jeonghan challenged, a mischievous glint in his eye
âI donât want to,â Seungcheol snapped, standing up abruptly. âIâm getting some air.â
As he walked away, Jeonghan burst into laughter. âI swear, heâs worse than a teenager with a crush.â
Outside, Seungcheol leaned against the cool brick wall, letting out a heavy sigh. He didnât know why heâd let the guys drag him out in the first place. This wasnât his scene anymore.
He pulled out his phone and instinctively opened your messages. There was a picture youâd sent earlier that day of Areum holding up a crayon drawing of the two of you with her in the middle. Sheâd written âMy Famlyâ in bright, messy letters at the top.
He smiled to himself, his thumb hovering over the call button.
Before he could make a decision, the door to the bar opened, and Joshua stepped outside, a knowing look on his face. âThought Iâd find you out here.â
âNot in the mood,â Seungcheol muttered, putting his phone away.
Joshua leaned against the wall next to him, crossing his arms. âYou know, Jeonghanâs just messing with you. He knows youâre still into her.â
âIâm notââ
âCheol.â Joshua cut him off with a pointed look. âWeâve known you for years. Donât even try to deny it.â
Seungcheol sighed, running a hand through his hair. âIt doesnât matter. Weâre divorced. Sheâs moved on.â
âHas she?â Joshua asked, raising an eyebrow
That made Seungcheol pause. âWhat do you mean?â
âSheâs not exactly going on dates, is she?â Joshua pointed out. âAnd last I checked, sheâs still wearing your ring.â
Seungcheol frowned, his chest tightening at the thought. Heâd noticed it, of course. How could he not? But he hadnât dared to hope it meant anything.
âLook, man,â Joshua said, clapping him on the shoulder. âIf you still love her and I know you do youâve got to stop acting like itâs too late. Because if you keep sitting on the sidelines, someone else *will* come along eventually. And you wonât have anyone to blame but yourself.â
With that, Joshua turned and went back inside, leaving Seungcheol alone with his thoughts.
And for the first time in a long while, those thoughts were filled with hope.
Seungcheol sighed and adjusted his jacket as he made his way back inside. Maybe if he stayed near the barâs edge, the persistent group would lose interest. But as soon as he returned to the booth, Hyejin, the overly determined woman, lit up like he was her jackpot.
âThere you are,â she said, patting the empty seat beside her. âI thought you mightâve run off.â
Seungcheol stayed standing, crossing his arms. âJust needed air.â
âWell, now that youâre back, letâs make this night a little more fun, huh?â She reached for his arm, but he took a step back
âIâm good,â he said flatly
But Hyejin clearly wasnât one to give up easily.
âOh, come on. One drink. Whatâs the harm?â
Jeonghan and Joshua, meanwhile, were watching the scene unfold like it was the best drama of the year. Joshua even had the audacity to take a sip of his beer and mutter, âThis is going to be good.â
Seungcheol shot them both a glare before turning back to Hyejin. Heâd had enough of the games.
âLook,â he said, his voice calm but firm. âIâm flattered, really. But Iâm not interested. I have someone else.â
Her smile faltered. âOh? Youâre married?â
He didnât hesitate reaching for the gold chain tucked under his shirt, there hangs his wedding ring. The date and your initials engraved on the inside. He let it dangle in the dim light, the small circle gleaming like a quiet promise.
âDivorced,â he clarified, âbut that doesnât mean Iâm available.â
Hyejin blinked, clearly not expecting that response. âYouâre divorced, but youâre still...?â
âIâm still in love with my ex-wife,â Seungcheol said plainly, his voice steady. âAnd we have a daughter together. Her name is Areum. Sheâs five, loves soccer, and thinks I can fix anythingâeven when I canât.â
Jeonghan and Joshua exchanged wide-eyed glances, the playful smirks slipping from their faces.
âWhoa,â Jeonghan muttered under his breath. âHe went there.â
Seungcheol ignored them, keeping his focus on Hyejin. âSo, no offense, but Iâm not looking for anything. My family is my priority. Always.â
There was a moment of stunned silence before Hyejin finally nodded, clearly caught off guard. âI see. Well... good for you, I guess. Itâs rare to meet someone so dedicated.â
With that, she stood up, mumbling something about grabbing another drink, and walked away.
The second she was out of earshot, Jeonghan burst into laughter. âOh, my God. Cheol, that was...â
âIâve never seen someone so politely crush someoneâs hopes like that.â Joshua shook his head, though he was smiling
âIâm not joking,â Seungcheol said, slipping the ring and chain back under his shirt
Jeonghan grinned, leaning across the table. âWe know youâre not. Thatâs what makes it so entertaining. Youâre still head over heels for her, arenât you?â
Seungcheol sighed, sinking into the booth. âCan we not do this right now?â
âNope,â Jeonghan said, popping the âp.â âThis is exactly the time to do it. Because you just told a complete stranger that youâre still in love with your ex-wife. Out loud. In public.â
âAnd in front of witnesses,â Joshua added, smirking
Seungcheol groaned, covering his face with his hands. âWhy do I even hang out with you two?â
âBecause weâre the only ones who can call you out on your nonsense,â Jeonghan said, patting him on the back. âAnd honestly, Cheol, itâs about time you stopped hiding it.â
âStopped hiding what?â Seungcheol muttered.
âThat you want her back,â Joshua said simply.
Seungcheol didnât respond, his thoughts too tangled with the truth of their words. He didnât need to admit itâthey already knew.
And deep down, so did he.
The hum of the car engine fills the silence between you and Seungcheol. The road stretches endlessly, flanked by towering trees that seem to lean in, listening to the quiet tension between you. In the backseat, Areum is a bundle of energy, her stuffed rabbit tucked securely under one arm as she hums a made-up tune. Her legs swing back and forth, her excitement barely contained.
âAre we there yet?â she chirps for the third time in an hour
âAlmost, sweetheart,â Seungcheol answers, glancing at her through the rearview mirror.
You glance at him from the passenger seat, noting how his hands grip the steering wheel, veins faintly visible under his tan skin. He looks goodâtoo good. His hair, slightly longer than when you last saw him, falls over his forehead, and his jawline is as sharp as ever.
You force yourself to look away, instead focusing on the scenery outside, even though it does little to distract you from the weight of his presence.
âYou excited, Areum?â you ask
âIâm soooo excited!â she exclaims, throwing her hands into the air. âMommy, Daddy, weâre going to have so much fun! Just like old times!â
Your heart clenches at her words. You glance at Seungcheol again, catching the way his lips press into a thin line. He doesnât say anything, but the moment hangs heavily between you.
The cabin is perfect. Nestled by a serene lake, itâs surrounded by tall pines that sway gently in the breeze. The wooden exterior glows warmly in the afternoon sunlight, and Areum bounces with excitement as soon as you step out of the car.
âLook, Mommy! A swing!â she squeals, racing toward the porch where a rustic wooden swing creaks invitingly.
Seungcheol opens the trunk and starts unloading the bags. You hesitate for a moment before grabbing Areumâs smaller suitcase and following him inside.
Areum darts around, exploring every nook and cranny, while you and Seungcheol silently divvy up tasks. You find yourself in the kitchen, unpacking snacks and prepping a quick lunch.
The clatter of utensils is the only sound until Seungcheol walks in, his sleeves rolled up, revealing forearms that shouldnât still affect you the way they do.
âNeed help?â he asks
âIâve got it,â you reply curtly, not looking up
He doesnât leave. Instead, he leans against the counter, watching you as you slice fruit. The tension is suffocating, and youâre about to tell him to either help or leave when Areum bursts in
âDaddy! Come help me unpack my toys!â she demands, grabbing his hand and tugging him toward the door
He follows her willingly, but not before casting one last look your way A look that lingers too long and says too much.
After dinner, Areum insists on roasting marshmallows by the firepit outside. The three of you gather under the clear night sky, the flames crackling and sending up occasional sparks. Areumâs laughter fills the air as she holds her marshmallow too close to the fire, causing it to catch alight.
âHelp, Daddy!â she shrieks, holding the stick out.
Seungcheol chuckles, taking it from her and expertly blowing out the flames. âThere. Perfectly charred,â he declares, handing it back to her.
You watch as he wipes a smudge of chocolate from her cheek, his expression soft and full of love. The sight twists something inside you, and you have to look away.
When your eyes meet his across the fire, his gaze is steady, searching, as if heâs trying to read your mind.
Areumâs birthday breakfast is a chaotic mix of pancakes, whipped cream, and sprinkles. She insists on wearing her birthday crown all day, and Seungcheol dutifully bows every time she walks by, calling her âPrincess Areum.â
When itâs time for cake, she claps her hands excitedly as you light the candles. âOkay, sweetie, make a wish,â you say, kneeling beside her.
She closes her eyes, her expression scrunching up in concentration. Then, with a triumphant shout, she declares, âI wish for a sibling!â
Your breath catches, and you glance at Seungcheol, who looks just as stunned. Areum blows out the candles in one go, her face lighting up with joy. âNow it has to come true!â she exclaims, completely oblivious to the tension between you and her father.
The morning sun glitters on the lakeâs surface, and Areum races ahead, her bright pink swimsuit standing out against the greens and blues of nature. She shrieks with delight as her toes touch the cold water, kicking up little splashes.
âCome on, Mommy! Daddy!â she calls, waving her arms.
You hesitate at the shoreline, adjusting your cover-up nervously. Seungcheol, on the other hand, wades in without hesitation, his muscular frame cutting through the water as he lifts Areum into his arms. She giggles as he spins her around, droplets flying everywhere.
âScared of a little water?â he teases, glancing back at you with a smirk.
You roll your eyes but step in, letting the icy water creep up your legs. Areum swims over to you, her small hands grasping yours.
âLetâs play! All of us!â she exclaims.
She drags you toward Seungcheol, whoâs treading water a few feet away. The three of you end up playing a makeshift game of tag, and for a moment, it feels almost normal almost like the three of you are a family again.
Later, when Areum insists on building sandcastles by the shore, you sit side by side with Seungcheol, the silence between you no longer quite as heavy.
âShe really loves this,â he says, watching Areum with a fond smile.
âSheâs been looking forward to it for weeks,â you admit, fiddling with a piece of grass. âShe wanted it to be perfect.â
He glances at you. âI think it is.â
After Areum falls asleep, the cabin feels too quiet. You find yourself on the porch, staring out at the dark lake. The sound of footsteps behind you makes you tense, but you donât turn around. You know itâs him.
âShe really surprised us today,â Seungcheol says, leaning against the railing beside you
âThatâs Areum,â you reply softly, wrapping your arms around yourself. âAlways full of surprises.â
Thereâs a pause before he speaks again. âSheâs a lot like you.â
You glance at him, caught off guard. His gaze is steady, filled with something you canât quite name. âYou donât have to say that,â you mumble
âI mean it,â he says, his voice low. âYouâre both stubborn, and you never give up on what you want.â
The words hang between you, and before you can think, he takes a step closer. âI know I messed up,â he says, his tone almost pleading. âBut being here⊠it reminds me of what we had. What we could still have.â
âCheolâŠâ you start, but he silences you with a gentle touch on your arm.
âIâm not asking for everything right now,â he says, his voice barely above a whisper. âBut tell me⊠do you feel it too? Even a little?â
You donât answer with words. Instead, you close the distance between you, your lips meeting his in a kiss that feels like both a question and an answer. Itâs slow, deliberate, and filled with the weight of everything left unsaid.
For the first time in years, you let yourself hope.
The kiss deepens, but it isnât hurried. It feels more like rediscovering something familiar yet distant. Seungcheolâs hand finds the curve of your waist, grounding you, while the other gently brushes your cheek.
For a fleeting moment, the years of heartbreak, resentment, and missed chances seem to melt away, leaving just the two of you under the starlit sky.
When you finally pull back, his forehead rests against yours, and his breath fans across your face. Neither of you says a word, and for once, the silence feels comfortable, even necessary.
âI⊠I should go to bed,â you whisper, your voice trembling slightly. It isnât a rejection, but a plea for space, a moment to process what just happened.
Seungcheol nods, his hand lingering on your arm before he lets you go. âGoodnight,â he murmurs, his voice laced with something you canât quite placeâhope, maybe.
You retreat to your room, your heart pounding in your chest. You glance at the bed, where Areum sleeps peacefully, her little hand clutching her stuffed rabbit. Her soft breaths are a reminder of everything that matters, of why you came here in the first place.
Still, when you lie down, the memory of Seungcheolâs touch lingers, refusing to let you rest.
The next morning, it's smell of freshly brewed coffee wakes you. Padding into the kitchen, you find Seungcheol already at work, flipping pancakes while Areum sits on the counter, wearing one of his oversized shirts over her pajamas. Sheâs animatedly telling him a story about her dreams, waving her arms for emphasis.
âAnd then the dragon said, âAreum, youâre the bravest princess ever!ââ she declares, her eyes wide. âRight, Daddy?â
âOf course,â he says with a grin, ruffling her hair. âIf thereâs anyone who can take down a dragon, itâs you.â
You linger in the doorway, unnoticed for a moment, watching the easy way they interact. Areum looks at him like he hung the moon, and Seungcheol, for all his faults, looks at her like sheâs his whole world.
âMommy!â Areum spots you first, her face lighting up. âDaddyâs teaching me how to flip pancakes! Look!â She holds up a spatula triumphantly
âIs he now?â you ask, raising an eyebrow as you step closer. âJust donât let him burn them.â
âHey, Iâm a pro. You remember.â
You roll your eyes but canât help the small smile tugging at your lips. Itâs moments like this that make it hard to hold on to the walls youâve built.
As the three of you sit down to breakfast, Areum chatters on about all the things she wants to do before you leave the cabin. Her energy is infectious, and for the first time in a long while, you let yourself relax.
After lunch, Areum insists on having a tea party outside by the lake. She drags Seungcheol along, handing him a tiny pink teacup and a plastic tiara. You try not to laugh as he dutifully places it on his head, his expression serious as Areum pours invisible tea into his cup.
âDaddy, you have to hold your pinky up!â Areum scolds, demonstrating the proper way to hold a teacup.
âLike this?â he asks, holding up his pinky with exaggerated effort.
Areum giggles. âNo, Daddy, youâre doing it wrong!â
âWhy donât you join us, Mommy?â Areum calls, waving you over
âOh, no,â you say, shaking your head. âYou and Daddy seem to have it under control.â
âSheâs scared of your tea,â Seungcheol teases, winking at you. âProbably thinks itâs too strong.â
You roll your eyes, but your smile betrays you. âIâll pass, thanks.â
It's the last night at the cabin before going back to normal. After putting Areum to bed, you find Seungcheol on the porch again, leaning against the railing. The moon casts a soft glow on the lake, and the air is cool but pleasant.
âCanât sleep?â he asks without turning around.
You step out, closing the door quietly behind you. âSomething like that.â
He gestures for you to join him, and after a momentâs hesitation, you do. The two of you stand in silence, the sounds of crickets and the gentle lapping of the lake filling the void.
âSheâs amazing, you know,â he says finally, his voice low. âAreum. Sheâs everything good about us.â
You swallow hard, nodding. âShe is.â
He turns to look at you then, his gaze soft but intense. âI meant what I said last night,â he murmurs. âI donât want to lose this again. I donât want to lose you.â
Your breath catches, but before you can respond, he reaches for your hand. His fingers are warm, steady, as they curl around yours.
âI know it will be hard,â he continues, his voice rough with emotion. âBut if thereâs even a part of you that still believes in us, Iâll do whatever it takes to prove Iâve changed.â
Tears prick at your eyes, and you look down, unsure of how to respond.
âCheolâŠâ you start, your voice trembling. âThis isnât just about us anymore. Itâs about Areum.â
âI know,â he says, his grip on your hand tightening slightly. âAnd thatâs why I want to do this right. For her. For you.â
For a long moment, you say nothing, your gaze fixed on the horizon. But when you finally look up, you see the sincerity in his eyes, and the walls youâve built around your heart begin to crumble.
âOkay,â you whisper. âBut this time⊠we take it slow.â
A smile spreads across his face, and for the first time in years, it feels like the start of something new.
The porch is quiet, save for the soft chirping of crickets and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. Seungcheolâs hand lingers in yours, his thumb brushing over your knuckles in slow, deliberate movements. The air between you feels charged, heavy with unspoken words and emotions that neither of you can ignore anymore.
âSlow,â he repeats, his voice soft but resolute. âI can do slow.â
But the way heâs looking at you now. His gaze warm and searching, dipping from your eyes to your lips makes you doubt his resolve. Your pulse quickens as he steps closer, his presence overwhelming in a way that feels both familiar and new.
âCheolâŠâ you murmur, unsure whether itâs meant to be a warning or encouragement
âTell me to stop,â he says, his voice barely above a whisper. His free hand rises, fingers brushing a strand of hair from your face, lingering at your temple. âTell me, and I will.â
You should say it. You should remind him that Areum is just inside, that this isnât the time, that youâre still trying to figure things out. But instead, you find yourself leaning into his touch, the warmth of his hand against your skin unraveling the last of your defenses.
He takes your silence as permission and leans down slowly, his lips brushing against yours with an achingly soft tenderness. The kiss is tentative at first, as if heâs afraid youâll pull away, but when you donât, it deepens. His hand moves to the small of your back, pulling you closer until your bodies are flush against each other.
The sensation is overwhelming, a rush of emotions youâve tried so hard to bury. His lips are firm and insistent, and when his teeth graze your lower lip, you let out a soft gasp that seems to ignite something in him. He tilts his head, angling the kiss to deepen it further, and you feel his fingers tighten on your waist.
Your hands find their way to his chest, pressing lightly against the hard muscle beneath his shirt. Itâs not a push to stop, but it makes him pause. He pulls back just enough to meet your gaze, his breathing uneven.
âThis okay?â he asks, his voice hoarse.
You nod, your fingers curling into his shirt. âYeah.â
He lets out a soft laugh, pressing his forehead against yours. âYou have no idea how long Iâve wanted this.â
His confession sends a shiver through you, but before you can respond, his lips are on yours again. This time, thereâs less hesitation. His hand slips under the hem of your sweater, his palm warm against the bare skin of your lower back. The touch is electric, sending sparks racing up your spine.
You canât help the soft moan that escapes you, and Seungcheol freezes, pulling back abruptly. âSorry,â he murmurs, his voice strained. âI said slow, and I mean it. I donât want to mess this up.â
Youâre breathless, your cheeks flushed as you look up at him. Thereâs a vulnerability in his expression that makes your heart ache. âYouâre not messing anything up,â you assure him, your fingers still gripping his shirt.
He exhales deeply, resting his hands on your hips but making no move to take things further. âYouâre going to be the death of me,â he mutters, half-smiling as he brushes his thumb against your hipbone.
The sound of a soft thud inside the cabin breaks the moment, and both of you freeze, turning toward the door.
âAreum,â you whisper, your heart racing for an entirely different reason now
Seungcheol chuckles under his breath, stepping back and running a hand through his hair. âGuess the universe has a way of keeping me in check.â
You canât help but laugh softly, shaking your head. âWe should check on her.â
He nods, his expression still warm. As you turn to head back inside, he catches your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. âSlow,â he repeats, his eyes locking with yours. âBut Iâm not letting you go this time.â
You smile, the warmth of his words settling deep in your chest. âOkay.â
Inside, Areum is fast asleep, her stuffed rabbit lying on the floor beside her bed. You tuck her back in, brushing a kiss to her forehead before slipping out of the room. As you close the door, Seungcheol is waiting in the hallway, his arms crossed loosely over his chest.
âGoodnight,â you say softly, pausing in front of him
âGoodnight,â he replies, but his eyes linger on you a moment longer before he heads to his own room.
You retreat to your bed, your heart still racing from the nightâs events. For the first time in years, you feel a flicker of hopeâa possibility of rebuilding what you thought was lost. And as you drift off to sleep, you find yourself looking forward to what tomorrow might bring.
The next morning you were woken up by the sound of Areumâs laughter as she runs through the living room, her stuffed rabbit trailing behind her. Seungcheol is chasing after her, pretending to be a monster, his deep growls making her shriek in delight.
You go down to see the duo having so much energy this early in the day, a fond smiling forming on your face
âDaddy, youâll never catch me!â Areum taunts, darting behind the couch.
âWeâll see about that!â Seungcheol lunges dramatically, scooping her up and tossing her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
âPut me down!â she squeals, though her giggles betray her delight.
âOkay, okay, you win!â she says between giggles.
He sits beside her, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. âThatâs what I thought. Whoâs the champ?â
ïżœïżœïżœYou are!â she says, sticking her tongue out at him before turning her attention to you. âMommy! Come sit with us!â
You join them on the couch, Areum immediately climbing into your lap and wrapping her arms around your neck. âDid you have fun this weekend, sweetheart?â you ask, smoothing her hair
âYes! It was the best birthday ever!â she exclaims, her eyes lighting up. Then, as if remembering something important, she leans back to look at both you and Seungcheol, her expression suddenly serious
âWhat is it, Areum?â you ask her
She takes a deep breath, her little brows furrowed in concentration. âYesterday, when I blew out my candles, I made a wish.â
You and Seungcheol exchange a quick glance, his brow lifting in curiosity "We remember, what about it sweet girl?"
"I thought about it a lot. And since Mommy and Daddy are best friendsâ she pauses to give each of you a knowing look, ââI thought maybe you could make it happen.â
Seungcheol bursts into laughter, ruffling Areumâs hair. âThatâs quite the request, princess.â
âBut you always say youâd do anything for me!â she counters, crossing her arms in a way that makes her look far older than six.
You bite back a smile, trying to keep your tone serious. âSweetheart, it doesnât exactly work like that.â
âWhy not?â she asks, tilting her head.
âWell,â Seungcheol jumps in, his voice warm and teasing, âitâs not something that happens overnight. It takes time and a lot of love.â
Areum seems to consider this, her little face scrunching up in thought. Then she looks at the two of you, her smile returning. âThatâs okay! I can wait. As long as you promise!â
You and Seungcheol both laugh, and he reaches over to give her a hug. âWeâll see what we can do, princess. No promises, but weâll try our best.â
âYay!â Areum cheers, completely satisfied with that answer. She wriggles out of your lap and runs off to find her toys, leaving the two of you alone.
As soon as Areum disappears down the hall, Seungcheol turns to you, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. âWell, that was unexpected.â
You laugh, shaking your head. âSheâs bold. Definitely takes after you.â
âMe?â he protests, feigning offense. âI think she takes after her mom. Youâve got a pretty bold streak yourself.â
âSo, what do we tell her if she asks again?â
Seungcheol leans back, his gaze softening as he looks at you. âWe tell her the truth. That weâre figuring things out, but weâll always be a familyâno matter what.â
âAnd hey,â he adds, his tone teasing, âif she really wants a sibling, I guess weâve got our work cut out for us.â
You swat his arm, laughing despite yourself. âDonât get ahead of yourself, Choi Seungcheol.â
He grins, reaching for your hand and intertwining your fingers. âNo rush,â he says softly, his eyes locking with yours. âWeâll take it one step at a time.â
And as you sit there, hand in hand, you canât help but feel that, for the first time in a long while, youâre exactly where youâre meant to be.

genre: fluff, single dad au, friends to lovers, mutual pining
word count: 4k
warnings: fluff, fluff, fluff. mildly suggestive tones if you squint but nothing really. just- girl dad and simp wonu.
wonwoo knows he's probably never going to forget that day of his life. that day he woke up to the sound of the doorbell, and a child crying outside his apartment. that day when his ex-girlfriend dropped the child off at his doorstep after informing him that this is his daughter. that day when he learnt that the girlfriend he broke up with a year ago had actually borne and raised his child without even informing him. until this day, when she'd suddenly been thrust upon him along with the news that his ex was now getting married to someone from a different country and she could not possibly take the child with her.
and wonwoo had just stared at the little creature sitting in his lap, unable to say anything, unable to even form coherent thoughts. in the background, he could faintly hear his ex's voice blabber on as she wound up excuse-after-excuse of how she has to leave to marry some chaebol and how it's been a crazy year and how she's tried to reach him but never ended up doing it because her parents couldn't afford for her to go into the public with the baby and how she hasn't named the child yet because she was too afraid to get attached to the baby.
he sat there on his couch, staring at the little daughter who looked so much like him that even a random stranger would be able to understand she was his child, even as she left, promising that she'd never see him or the child again.
and wonwoo sat like that until you walked in through the door, drained after a nineteen-hour shift, still wearing your scrubs and your hands shaking with exhaustion, but still carrying a box of fried chicken and two bottles of soju.
"who's this?" your voice had broken him out of his trance and he'd looked up after staying frozen in that state for hours.
"my daughter."
wonwoo could see the way your eyes widened under your glasses and your breath speed up in that one second. "is she?"
"yes. rhea dropped her off."
"rhea? like rhea from college?"
"yeah."
you don't say anything else. you just drop the food on the dining table and pick up the child from wonwoo's arms. "she needs to change her diapers. can't you smell it?"
he had stared up at you, still not fully back in reality. "i don't have any."
"well, let's go out and buy some then."
_
and wonwoo hadn't questioned it. he still doesn't question it as you sit at his dining table, feeding his four year daughter soup because she's caught fever after playing in the rain. he didn't question it yesterday when you'd woken up in the middle of the night in feverish delusion and called for eomma. he doesn't question it when you know more about her than he does.
"hey" he says when he walks into the room, his hair still messy from sleeping in. both the girls in his life turn to look at him, identical smiles plastered on your faces, and wave at him. wonwoo doesn't know if it's possible for his heart to feel this full every day and survive even after nearly suffer a heart attack every time he wakes up to this sight, but he doesn't question it.
"there's bread and soup for brunch if you want some." he sits down next to you, your knees almost touching his, and reaches out to pat the cheeks of his daughter who's sitting on your lap. "she's eaten it all like a good girl. so you should do." you softly land his daughter in his lap, and stand up.
"daddy's girl is just perfect, aren't you, baby?" wonwoo hugs her close, worrying about how her tiny body is still warm, but at least there's food in her tummy now.
"she is. i'll leave now, wonwoo."
"sorry for calling you last night. i didn't know what to do when she called for you."
you smile but wonwoo can see how tired your eyes are.
"you did the right thing. call me again if you need me. i'll come around anyway tonight." wonwoo nods.
"bye-bye eunchae-ah! i'll see you later."
when you lean in to kiss eunchae on her cheeks, wonwoo's face right next to his daughter's, he almost feels your kiss on his cheek too. but it doesn't come. it never does. he smiles at his own foolishness, before he waves you goodbye, following his daughter's actions too.
_
he wishes you didn't have to leave every day. he has a bedroom dedicated for you. he has a toothbrush for you. he has an assigned chair on the dining table for you. his daughter calls you eomma in the depths of the night. his mind calls for you whenever he feels out of his depths. his body craves for you every time he sees you.
he wishes you didn't have to leave.
but you're back every time like you promise. you come right back, to take care of him and his daughter. like tonight, wonwoo knows as he sneaks a peek at the elepant clock on the wall.
eunchae's fever is slowly coming back, and wonwoo's given her the syrupy medicine but he knows what she's really craving is cuddles. he holds her close, reading out a storybook to her in a soft voice he reserves for his girls, but he knows he can't sit like this for long. his stream is scheduled at nine-thirty, and he has to be on time because the stakes are high tonight.
the clock strikes nine and wonwoo hears the door unlock. "y/n-ie is home!" eunchae immediately breaks out of her sleepy daze and squeals out, "y/n-ie! come fast! dad's reading the story about the pirates!" "is he?" you open the door and lean against the frame. wonwoo's heart skips a beat as he sees the way your heart shines with love as you look at eunchae, your hair falling all over your face after the long day at work. "but maybe y/n-ie can read it out for princess eunchae? dad will get dinner in the meantime." you step up closer to where the two of them are snuggled up in wonwoo's bed, "i'll read the rest out for you. and maybe i can show you pictures of the new puppy hansol rescued today?" eunchae's eyes light up, all exhaustion from the fever disappearing at the sound of her favourite uncle, hansol, and the puppies he rescues. wonwoo takes that as his cue to leave you with eunchae. when he tries to get up, his legs dangling over the edge of the bed, you lean forward to squeeze his shoulders. "is today the day of the match?" "hmm." "well, good luck then, champ."
wonwoo grins. "i don't need luck. you know that."
_
he doesn't know where the earlier confidence had come from, but it's certainly gone now. he's nearly died three times already and he cannot afford to make any more slips. he knows the money's coming in steady, but it's not half close to the mental target he'd placed for tonight's stream. he has to do better for the money to come up faster so he focuses his entire being on the final round of the match.
and he does not disappoint. he wins fair and square, albeit by the narrow margin. the money rapidly builds in the last few moments of the game, when he shoots down every minion of the opponent, and finally the opponent's main character itself.
when the stream finally ends, and he turns off the computer's video and audio, he can finally take a break. it's three am on the computer's clock, and his eyes burn. the adrenaline pumps through his veins but as soon as his headphones are off, he can feel reality reeling him again.
after a small snack stolen from the fridge and a shower in warm water, he finally makes way to his bedroom. he doesn't expect you to be awake, but he certainly doesn't expect seeing you sleeping soundly in his bed, your legs tangled in his comforter, and his daughter snuggled against your chest, spread across the entire bed as if it's not his bed. but then, what even is his? not his bedroom, not his daughter, and certainly not his heart.
he presses a light kiss on eunchae's forehead and pats your hair once, to which you let out a sleepy whimper. before he can let his mind wander at that sound, he escapes from the room and goes to the guest bedroom.
_
"are you winning games only to be banished from your own bedroom? you should've asked me to move!" you stomp your leg and whine when you see wonwoo sitting in the bed of the guest bedroom the next morning, lazily brushing his teeth. your pajamas are not yours- they're ones you've borrowed so often from him that it's nearly become yours. but they're still too loose at your legs, dangling below your feet. your eyes are red with sleep in spite of waking up at nine am, so thank god it's your off-day.
wonwoo pulls you by your arm and makes you flop down on the bed next to him. he removes the toothbrush from his mouth, the foam still in his mouth, but he mouths coffee. "god, you're so dirty. clean your mouth before talking. what is eunchae going to learn?" but wonwoo can see that your vexing is all made-up because it takes one tug on your arm to make you burst into a smile.
it's a special day- it's three years since wonwoo officially adopted eunchae and became her father on all legal papers. it's an emotional day every year, but a happy one. wonwoo does not regret adopting eunchae for even one second. it's been quite a hectic journey and he wouldn't be anywhere without your help but he wouldn't go back for a billion dollars. eunchae has completed his life in more ways than one. she's shown him unconditional trust and reciprocated his love without a second's hesitation. she's changed him from an anxious, private person to a person who is more open towards embracing challenges now and even more accepting towards all twists of fate. and most importantly, she's brought you to him.
she's given him his own family- one that he didn't even know he needed. but he's found a home away from home and it's the best part of his life. a family that doesn't judge him for being twenty-five and choosing to be a pro-gamer instead of a proper job as his own family had said. a family that lets him be clueless about life because they take care of him instead. a family that doesn't care about social appearances and going out, and chooses simple home barbecue with friends over getting drunk in clubs.
after he brushes his teeth, he walks out of the room to the living space, and finds you sitting with eunchae at the couch, who's sipping berry milkshake and colouring into her sketchbook. "look who's up, chaechae!" his daughter looks up and shouts out his name, and he scoots over and sits next to her on the couch, pulling her tiny legs into his own. you quickly shift your body away so that he doesn't crash into you, but wonwoo wishes you weren't so considerate. "i made coffee. and i'm going to make wraps with the leftovers from what you made yesterday. can you get her bathed after this? i'll get breakfast ready by then."
_
wonwoo hates it and loves it at the same time.
it being whenever the two of you drop eunchae at her school.
he hates it because he's always too sad to see his baby go off into school without even looking back at him once because she's just that excited to meet her friends. he hates it because all the parents assume that the two of you are a couple and keep asking you over to their houses for your kids to have playdates. he hates the other alternative too- when he clarifies that you're just friends, some of the mothers begin flirting with him too much and he's desperate for you to save him, but you totally encourage it. "you should start dating again, you know. it would do you good, now that eunchae's grown up." god no. it would do him no good- not when his heart is convinced that he's already dating a certain doctor who loves his daughter like her own.
and yet he loves it. he loves it because you stay beyond breakfast on these days, help him dress eunchae and also pamper her with a bubble bath. he loves it because you bathe in his shower on these days, and come out smelling like his shower gel. he loves it because you spend the entire day with him, talking to him about your patients and about your coworkers. he loves it because it's the only day he gets you completely to himself- he doesn't even schedule any events or streams on this day. it's his favourite day of the week, better than any weekend. he has a set plan for it, and it never fails. here's how it goes:
step 1 of the day- he drives around town and 'accidentally' stumbles upon a pretty-looking cafe that he suggests the two of you could try, and you, thankfully everytime, say yes.
"where do you wanna go today?" you ask him, and wonwoo's scared for a second that you've caught his act. no, surely not. "we could just drive around, you know."
step 1 success.
step 2 of the day- he offers to drop you home and let you rest, but you, thankfully everytime, never agree to his offer, saying that you want to enjoy a day out in the sun with him, because you're literally always stuck in the ER.
"i could drop you home. you could take a well-deserved break." "nah, i would much rather spend it with you. i'll just drown in my own head if i stay at home."
step 2 success.
step 3 of the d-
"we could go back to your place. we could binge the new series that's come out last friday. heard amazing reviews." you suggest casually, while scrolling something on your phone.
wonwoo actually almost crashes the car as he turns 90 degrees to look at you. this is unexpected. this is unprecedented. this has never happened before in the last three years of your whatever-ship.
"series?" when he speaks, his voice comes out weakly. "yeah, criminal and supernatural. just the genres we both love." fuck, you run a strong case.
wonwoo only hesitates for a second, before he makes a u-turn to go back home- because what's better than sitting across a table at a public cafe buying overpriced coffee? sitting together at the couch at home watching quality television.
_
wonwoo's too stressed about leaving eunchae behind with hansol and seungkwan. he's sure they'll mess up something or the other, but you're stern. "wonwoo, they'll be fine! she's four years old. grown up enough. and you know how much sollie and kwannie love her." "exactly- they love her too much. they'll never be able to say no to her." "and they won't have to. our eunchae is smart enough to not ask for unreasonable things. have faith in your parenting."
wonwoo wants to say: i have no faith in my parenting, but full faith in yours. but he doesn't. instead he quietly continues driving. it's your college reunion party- and it's the first time in years that you and wonwoo are attending. "i can't believe it's been five years since we got out of college." "well, eunchae's four."
you laugh, "you're right. wonwoo, i have no sense of time. it feels like only yesterday that we began talking in class." as you two walk into the hall decorated beautifully and filled with people, wonwoo's arm in yours. there are many known faces in the crowd ahead, but he can say, confidently and unbiasedly, that you're the most beautiful.
"don't remind me, please. it was so embarrassing to see seungcheol tell you that i had a crush on you." you laugh even harder, "but it was so funny! i didn't even know before that day, so i gotta thank seungcheol." "you look just as good as you did that day when i took your number." you look away for a second before looking up at him again. "is that so, mr jeon? you think i still look like a half-dead med student who's trying to survive with four hours of sleep and packed kimbap-" "no! don't misunderstand me," wonwoo fake-pouts at your fake-anger, and you both burst out laughing. "well, you don't have a crush on me anymore, so i'm certain the charm of the half-dead med student has worn off."
it's not, wonwoo's arm pulls you in tighter. god, he wishes he was not a coward. he wishes he could tell you that the charm has doubled, tripled, quadrupled every year, and he cannot imagine loving any woman as much as he loves you.
the evening definitely starts off better than wonwoo had expected. everyone seems to have forgotten how awkward and quiet wonwoo was back in college, and only remembered how good a gamer he was and how handsome he was back then. it's surprising how many people claim to be his fans here, and wonwoo feels his chest fill up. when he brings drinks for you both, he sees you speaking to rhea. "i see you've met y/n, rhea." "yes, well! i had no idea that she's so involved in taking care of our daughter."
our child? there's a spike of anger that rushes through his brain and wonwoo sees red. instinctively, your hand finds his own and squeezes his palm, a slight smile tugging at your lips, evidently asking him to back off. but wonwoo doesn't want to back off. even if rhea creates a scene right now, he doesn't care. he would much rather go home to his daughter rather than be here amidst people who don't even like him.
"i'm right glad you left eunchae with me when you did. y/n's raised her as her own daughter, and thank god we don't have to confuse her with another wannabe mother figure who didn't think before abandoning her."
rhea opens her mouth to say something, but you pull him away quickly, saying your goodbyes. you find the nearest exit, and pull wonwoo into the fresh air of the night.
"there was no need for snapping at her, wonwoo." you push him against a wall gently, rubbing your hand over his arms to ground him. "how dare she say eunchae's her child? she doesn't even know her name, for god's sake. she has no claim on her!" "she's literally her biological mother-" "so what? she dumped her on me, on you! you're a hundred times more her mother than rhea is!"
you stay stunned for a second, the wind blowing your hair away from your face. "what?"
"you've raised her, y/n. you're her mother, and i know eunchae will agree me 100% on-"
you take a step back. wonwoo takes a step forward, his heart panicking at the thought of losing you.
"wonwoo, i'm... i can't..."
"do you not realise it? why she calls you eomma?"
"but i- i don't mean to replace... i don't mean to take anyone's place..." another step back.
"whose place? there's literally no one else," another step ahead.
"your future wife... or girlfriend... or whoever will be her mother-" another step back and your back hits the wall.
wonwoo takes another step closer to you, towering over your figure. "there's going to be no one else. no one. no other mother figure in her life. or in mine."
you gulp, your breath still weak as you pant softly. "what are you saying wonwoo?"
"i'm saying i love you." fuck. that feels better to say out loud- a large boulder getting off his chest. he doesn't know what you're going to say, but it sure feels good to get it out. "i don't know how you feel. but i want to tell you how i feel, because i'm tired of being a coward. it's because i am coward that people like rhea have the audacity to say things like that. y/n, i've loved you for so many years now. my crush on you since that day seungcheol introduced us? never went away. not just because you're my best friend but also because you've taken care of me and given so much to me unconditionally through the years. without you- i wouldn't have been here, eunchae would've gone to another family through social services, and i would be a person living a hollow life with no love-"
"i would always be here, wonwoo. i'm your best friend-"
"but you've also become so much more. you've become my family, my saviour and guiding force, and my daughter's eomma. she wants nobody but you. i want nobody but you."
there's tears welling up in your eyes and wonwoo's heart aches. his hands automatically wrap around your face, wiping away the tears. "what's wrong, y/n-ie? i know this may have been a shock and you probably hate me for dumping this on-"
"i love you, jeon wonwoo!" your voice is weak, strangled.
"what?"
you twist your face to lightly peck at his hand that's cupping your cheeks. "i love you. i have loved you. i'm sorry i didn't know you felt the same way for so long..."
wonwoo's body melts and caves in. there was a wild tension which had been running in his body for so long but it dissipates totally now. he inches your face up towards him.
"shhhhh, baby. can i kiss you? i'm sick of loving you in secret. i want to show you how much i love you."
as soon as you nod, he leans in to claim your lips, your taste sweet like sugar and just as good as he had imagined it to be. your hands wrap around his shoulders, pulling him in closer towards you, your back completely flat against the wall. wonwoo grips your face and wraps around your waist at the same time.
it's honestly a miracle that you two haven't touched in the last three years where you've gotten so close. yes, the accidental brushing of hands, the affectionate hand patting hair, the playful punches and the mild tugging of arms. but nothing close to what wonwoo's wanted to do with you.
and now that you have started, he can't let go.
"baby?" his voice is raspy as he breaks the kiss, a string of spit linking your mouth to his, your chests heaving against each other. "yes?" "can you say it once more?" "hmm?" "you..." "i love you? yes i do." and wonwoo picks you up in his arms, not caring about how your legs flutter in the air as he spins around in joy. "what's this, jeon wonwoo! don't be a child!" "i'm just so happy." he finally puts you down, but doesn't let you get far.
"you know, it's such a wonderful conincidence that eunchae is safe with hansol and kwannie today. maybe we should take advantage?" the smirk on your lips give it all away, as you smack his chest. "and i thought you only loved me for your baby." "well, i intend to drive all mythical thoughts out of your pretty head tonight, baby."

masterlist
the softest coos filled up the room. your heart felt at ease and you didnât have any worries weighing on your shoulders. you felt free, complete. there was nothing better than this.
the slightly open curtains casted a heavenly hue on your little daughter that you were cradling in your arms, very close to your chest. each time you stroked her cheek, she broke into the most adorable toothless smile with her eyes closed and that only could make your heart burst into crumbs.
âshe feels so cozy,â you hummed to yourself. she was showered, changed, fed and rocked in your arms since this morning. now it was time for her second bottle of the morning which you had sat on the night table beside her crib.
you carefully tucked her in her baby pink sheets (courtesy of jeonghan who decided on getting her everything pink). sheâd never looked more peaceful, you couldnât take your eyes off of her. she was now at the age where she could hold her bottle by herself so once your hand placed the bottle of milk on her lips, she instinctively latched onto it with both her hands.
leaving the door of her nursery open, you made your way to the kitchen to do the final touches on the breakfast youâve made. you prepared the plates and cutlery, decorated the pancakes with strawberries and some whipped cream and dripped some coffee before heading to your room.
jeonghan was peacefully sleeping. you took a moment to just look at him âa few steps away from the bedâ snuggling up to the sheets, body curled up into a fetus position. soft facial features took your breath away. long eyelashes draped over the upper of his cheeks like little feathers, nose so boop-able and lips pretty swollen and so kissable.
your feet gently padded their way closer to the bed where you gingerly lied beside him, nuzzling yourself under his face and into his neck. he felt warm, so warm that you couldnât help the hum escaping your chest.
jeonghan quickly realized what was going on, swiftly wrapping his arms around you and bringing you closer to his embrace. âmmh, this feels nice,â he murmured groggily, sleep still laced with his voice like an ivy plant.
you filled your lungs with his intoxicating smell; musk, laundry detergent, baby cologne, wood and just him and his natural body smell that you grew familiar with over the span of the years.
you couldnât get over him.
âdid you have a good night sleep?â you asked, still pressed against his chest, your arms wrapped around him like a baby koala.
âmmh,â he softly answered, pressing kisses on top of your head.
after what felt like eternity, you pulled away from his skin and gazed at his face. you almost choked on your breath at his beauty that you never seemed to get used to. his eyes were still closed but a soft smile painted his features.
âlike father, like daughter,â you thought to yourself. these two were going to be the death of you.
your heart swelled in your ribcage at the sight of him and you couldnât help yourself from stroking all over his face with your thumb. forehead, eyelids, nose bridge, cupidâs bow, lower lip and chin. you traced all his features in hopes of them sticking to your memory forever and ever.
âso this is how angels look like, hm?â you mindlessly asked, for no one in specific to answer. you were dazed, enchanted by him.
jeonghan bursted into the cutest laugh, small and straight teeth making an appearance behind his lips and you just stared at him in a daze. you had a nearly one year old daughter and you were still so love-stricken by him, it was actually unbelievable.
âhavenât we already established that, sweetheart?â he chuckled as he caressed your hair, peering at your glossy eyes that were fixing him from the position of you resting your chin on top of his chest.
âi justâŠstill canât believe that i get to spend the rest of my life with an angel-looking human,â you laughed, finally getting to boop his nose.
ây/n we have a daughter together, i think itâs time for you to get over yourself and start getting used to the fact that youâre married to an actual angel,â his slender fingers slid from your hair to land on your cheek, delivering sweet touches to the outline of your jawline, before stopping at your chin.
âyouâve got it all messed up,â you shook your head. he tilted his head in confusion as to why you would have such thing to say. âfor all i know, youâre a devil with angel-like beauty, my love.â you looked at him fondly.
âhm?â he feigned innocence as he lifted your chin with one finger, enchantingly pulling you closer to his face. âbut admit it,â he spoke lowly, his lips tingling on yours. âyou do like my devil side better, sweetheart.â he smiled.
you swallowed thickly. âdo you?â he asked, hands slithering around your waist to hold you in place upon noticing you struggling to keep your weight above him. oh he was so sly, you melted.
âiâll grant you the benefit of the doubt on this one.â you looked down at him like he was a porcelain statue, so careful not to ruin. you actually liked both his sides equally but you knew that if you let him know, he would corrupt you and convince you that his devilish side was better. that meant more pranks, more teasing and less soft side jeonghan (mostly in bed) so no, you were not allowing him that.
âi have an entire lifetime to find out.â he said, finally dropping your body on his and placing a gentle kiss on your lips. it was soft and inviting, luring you into him like there was no other option. hands placed on both side of your face as he guided you through the greedy pushes of his plump lips, sultry sounds threatening to fill the room.
you breathlessly pulled away from him, watching his lips hovering in the air to chase yours. he just giggled softly at you, eyes hazy with sleep and drunk on kissing before licking his lips and pressing them together.
âwhereâs little pumpkin?â he asked after you adjusted yourself beside him on the bed. you were both on your backs, breaths slowly calming down, both your hands interlaced on his abdomen.
âsleeping.â
âstill?â
âsheâs taking her first nap of the day.â you turned to him. he looked confused.
âalready? wait- what time is it?â
â9:45-ish am.â
âoh my, i overslept. why didnât you wake me up so i could help you change and feed her?â he faced you now, blond strands of hair sticking to his forehead.
you pealed them away from his face and behind his ears. âyou looked so peaceful sleeping so i didnât wanna disturb you. i know youâve been working hard for us, plus itâs a sunday so you deserved the extra hours of sleep.â
âi donât deserve you,â jeonghan expressed with gratitude, soft gaze falling upon your face and you could fall in love with him all over again.
âyou deserve all the love and care my love.â after a gentle peck on his lips, you pulled away and said, âfreshen up and letâs go eat, breakfast is ready.â
jeonghan leaned down to pepper your face with kisses, âyouâre so good to me,â he said in between each one. âi love you so much.â
âi love you even more. youâre the best husband and father to my daughter i could ever ask for. happy fatherâs day, my love.â
his eyes welled up with tears and his body melted into you. âyouâre gonna make me cry sweetheart.â he pulled you into his arms and you secured yours around his body, engulfing each other into a sweet hug.
on another note, you loved his angel side more.

Jeonghan is 1000% a âdonât tell momâ kind of dad in the way that he would absolutely bribe any of his children old enough to spill his secrets into keeping their tiny, precious little lips sealed. Especially when youâve explicitly told him not to do something and he does it anyway. The tables will however turn because his kids would take after him and bribery turns to blackmail real quick. He never imagined his wickedly cunning six year old threatening to tattle on him unless he buys her ice cream, but alas...here he is waiting for her to eat every last sprinkle.
It nearly pains him to admit how proud he is.Â

Gentle Daddy | C. Sc
Pairing: Scoups x reader
Genre: fluff, parent au
Summary: welcome aboard to the threenager stage of Seungcheol's son and how he parents him.
Seungcheol was seventeen when he met Chan, the youngest of their group. Was Chan a little brother? Yes. But at the start? Not quite. To Seungcheol, Chan was just another kid, someone he had to look after out of duty rather than choice.
As the oldest in their group, Seungcheol often became the subject of jokes about his strict ways. âEveryone, if you donât wake up on three, Iâll give you 10 more laps of running,â Seungkwan teased, mimicking Seungcheol's commanding tone from their training days, complete with a mock-serious expression that drew laughter.
âSeungcheol hyung definitely needs someone gentle to balance that out,â Chan piped up with a cheeky grin. But before he could finish, Seungcheol raised an eyebrow and asked, âBalance what?â
Chan swallowed nervously, waving his hand dismissively as the others burst into laughter. âNo, no, I was talking to myself,â he stammered.
But now, Seungcheol stood in a different scene, holding his three-year-old son, Wontae, on his arm during his birthday party. The house was filled with chatter and laughter, the kind only close friends could bring.
âYour interior is beautiful, Seungcheol. Come over and do mine next,â Jeonghan quipped, throwing a casual compliment with a hint of a request. Seungcheol rolled his eyes, scoffing.
âAppa did my room too!â Wontae beamed proudly at Jeonghan. Jeonghanâs features softened as he reached out and ruffled the boyâs hair. âYour appa is very talented, isnât he?â
Seungcheol discovered his passion for interior design when he was searching online for the perfect nursery layout for Wontae. But nothing he found could match the vision in his mind. After discussing it with you, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Trips to the hardware store turned into projects that filled his weekends: crafting custom cabinets, building desks, and designing coffee tables.
In preparation for the party, Seungcheol went all outârearranging furniture, painting walls, and adding small decorative touches that showcased his new hobby.
âItâs almost as good as Mingyuâs house,â Jeonghan said with a mischievous smirk. Seungcheol chuckled, nodding in agreement. âI think taking care of others did that to me. Just like how Mingyu took care of everything for us back in the day.â
âI want to get down,â Wontae said, squirming in his fatherâs arms. Seungcheol gently set him down, watching with a smile as his son darted over to Wonwoo, who was showing him a video game on his phone.
âHeâs going to be three, wow!â Jeonghan remarked, shaking his head in disbelief. âIt feels like just yesterday when I first held him.â
âHow is it like?â Jeonghan asked, a rare tone of seriousness in his voice.
Seungcheol sighed, his lips curving into a soft smile. âGo get married and have one yourself,â he said playfully.
âJeonghanâs getting married?â Your voice chimed in as you returned from putting Wonna, your four-month-old daughter, to sleep. Both Seungcheol and Jeonghan turned toward you. Seungcheolâs eyes softened as he reached for your waist, pulling you gently into his side.
âIs she asleep?â he asked, concern blending with affection. You nodded, resting a hand on his chest.
âDonât listen to him,â Jeonghan interjected, rolling his eyes but unable to hide the smile tugging at his lips.
âI feel really bad that youâre going through all of this right after giving birth, just for his birthday party,â Jeonghan joked, glancing around at the well-decorated room. The party was being held the day after Seungcheolâs birthday, even though Wontaeâs actual birthday was next week.
âI told you, itâs for Wontae!â Seungcheol insisted, his tone defensive but playful.
You chuckled, shaking your head. âJeonghan, I gave birth four months ago. Besides, Iâm grateful that Joshua and Mingyu helped with the food prep.â You nodded toward Joshua and Mingyu, who were now joined by Jihoon in the kitchen, scrubbing dishes and joking with each other.
Suddenly, a tiny voice interrupted the grown-up conversation. âLook what Uncle Hoshi got me! Itâs a matching tiger onesie for me and Wonna!â Wontae announced proudly, holding up the tiny outfit with wide eyes full of excitement.
Seungcheolâs eyes flicked to Hoshi, who was now rolling on the floor, laughing at Wontaeâs reaction. The older man couldnât help but smirk, shaking his head.
You smiled and turned to Seungcheol. âIâll go help him with his present,â you said, squeezing his arm before walking over to your son.
Jeonghan, still standing beside Seungcheol, gave him a knowing pat on the shoulder. âYou know, itâs great you married Y/N. I never thought Iâd see the day when the legendary Seungcheol, the training tyrant, would become the poster child for gentle parenting.â
Seungcheol scoffed, turning to Jeonghan with a mock glare. âA monster? Really? Youâre one to talk,â he protested, crossing his arms but unable to suppress the grin threatening to break through.
Jeonghan just laughed, throwing his hands up in surrender. âHey, Iâm just stating the facts. Besides, we all know you wouldnât be half as patient if it werenât for her.â
Seungcheol glanced across the room where you were now helping Wontae into the tiger onesie, a soft smile crossing his face. The room buzzed with laughter and warmth, the chaos of their little family perfectly imperfect.
*
Seungcheol woke up a bit late this morning, the warm glow of the morning sun filtering through the curtains. A soft smile spread across his face as he took in the sight of his family already gathered at the dining table for breakfast. The sound of Wontaeâs cheerful voice filled the room when he spotted his dad entering.
âAppa!â Wontae called out with excitement, his tiny hands waving eagerly. Seungcheol walked over and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of Wontaeâs head before his eyes found Wonna, cradled in your arms, contentedly finishing her second bottle of the day.
âWonna Wonna~ did you sleep well, my princess?â Seungcheol cooed, his heart melting at the sight of his daughterâs chubby cheeks. Wonna wriggled in your embrace, her eyes lighting up as she recognized her fatherâs voice.
âYou had breakfast, love?â Seungcheolâs gaze shifted to you, his tone laced with concern. You shook your head with a soft smile. âI was waiting for you.â
He grinned, taking Wonna gently from your arms. âIâll play with Wonna for a bit. Go have your breakfast.â
You nodded, appreciating his thoughtful gesture, and sat down to enjoy breakfast with Wontae. After some quality playtime with Wonna and tucking her back into her crib for a nap, Seungcheol returned to the dining room. By then, Wontae had retreated to his bedroom, engrossed in the toys his uncles had gifted him.
âWontae loves Mingyuâs gift,â Seungcheol said with a chuckle, recalling how his son had immediately fallen in love with the plush corgi toy Mingyu had brought him. It was amusing how Wontae adored anything Mingyu gave, no matter what it was.
You laughed as you finished your meal. âOf course he does. Heâs your son, after all. It makes sense heâd have a special bond with Mingyu.â
Seungcheol joined in your laughter, the sound warm and genuine. âThanks, love,â he said when you placed a steaming bowl of rice and soup in front of him.
âIs your head still dizzy?â you asked, sitting beside him to keep him company while he ate.
He sighed, a touch of guilt crossing his features. âNot as much, but I really need to cut down on my drinking.â A rueful smile followed. âI still donât get how you donât drink at allânot even a beer.â
You smiled, amused by his amazement. âThe last time I drank was before I got pregnant with Wontae,â you reminded him. Seungcheolâs eyes widened as the memory came rushing backâit had been at Joshuaâs birthday party.
âRight!â he said, letting out a soft chuckle at the recollection.
Before he could say more, Wontaeâs voice rang out, echoing through the hallway. âEomma! Come here!â He came running into the dining room, eyes sparkling with excitement as he tugged at your hand, eager for you to join him in his room.
âHow about we stay here and keep Appa company while he finishes eating?â you suggested gently, but Wontae shook his head, determination written all over his little face.
âNo! I want to show you my drawing!â he insisted, practically bouncing on his feet. âUncle Chan gave me crayons, and there are so many colors! Even five different blues!â
You exchanged a knowing look with Seungcheol, your heart swelling at Wontaeâs joy. âAlright, letâs see your masterpiece,â you said, getting up and giving Seungcheol a reassuring smile before following your son.
Five minutes later, you returned to the dining room, barely suppressing your laughter. Seungcheol had just finished eating and looked up, curiosity piqued by your expression.
âYou should see what heâs done in there,â you said, eyes twinkling with amusement.
Seungcheol raised an eyebrow, intrigued. âWhat did he do this time?â
âYou need to see it for yourself,â you urged, playfully nudging him in the direction of Wontaeâs room. âIâll take care of the dishes.â
With a grin, Seungcheol pushed back his chair, eager to see what kind of adventure awaited him in his sonâs room.
Seungcheol opened Wontae's room and was greeted by the sight of his son enthusiastically coloring in his new book, using the crayons Chan had gifted him. The vibrant hues danced across the pages, a mix of scribbles and childlike shapes. Wontaeâs eyes lit up when he noticed his father standing at the door. He bounded over, grabbing Seungcheolâs hand and pulling him toward his little art corner.
âLook, Appa! I drew a rock!â Wontae exclaimed, pride beaming from his small face.
Seungcheolâs eyes followed Wontaeâs pointing finger until they landed on the wall. Oh my god. There, on the freshly painted surface, was a childâs drawingâa colorful depiction of what was presumably a rock, sketched in bold crayon strokes.
He froze, processing the situation. So this was why you had insisted he see it for himself. He could practically hear the smile in your voice when you said it.
âYou drew on the wall?â he asked, keeping his voice as steady as possible.
Wontae nodded innocently. âBut Eomma said itâs better to draw on the coloring book, so now I draw here. But sometimes it gets boring, Appa!â
Seungcheol felt a wave of relief wash over him. So you caught him and told him to stop. Thank god.
He closed his eyes briefly, taking a deep breath to quell the frustration bubbling beneath the surface. Remember, Seungcheol, they donât know better. They donât understand how much work it is to paint a wall.
âYes, your eomma is right. Drawing on your coloring book is best.â He sat down on the floor beside Wontae, the urge to scold replaced by the desire to guide. âShow me more of your drawings here.â
Wontae beamed at the invitation, plopping down next to his father and eagerly flipping through the pages of his coloring book. Seungcheol couldnât help but smile as he watched his sonâs eyes sparkle with excitement, oblivious to any worry or consequence.
Every time Seungcheolâs eyes strayed to the drawing on the wall, a chuckle escaped his lips. It was ridiculous! He wanted to be mad, really mad, but he just couldnât muster it. âYou know you shouldnât draw on the wall, right?â he asked his son, carefully suppressing the instinct to say, âI just painted that! Why did you draw on it?!â in a booming voice that would only frighten the boy. He took a deep breath, holding back the frustration that threatened to spill out.
Wontae looked up at his fatherâs face, his eyes wide with curiosity as he noticed something unusual. âWhy is your face red, Appa?â he asked, putting down his crayon and reaching up with his tiny hands to cup Seungcheolâs flushed cheeks. Seungcheol let out another soft chuckle, his anger melting further.
âYou know Appa loves this house, right?â Seungcheol said, his tone remaining gentle and warm.
Wontae nodded, his little head bobbing earnestly.
âNo one in this house draws on the walls because Appa worked hard to keep them nice and clean,â Seungcheol explained, still smiling softly despite the chaos inside him.
Wontae bit his lip, his eyes beginning to glisten with tears. âAre you mad at me for drawing on the wall?â His voice trembled as he spoke, and Seungcheolâs heart lurched. Panic surged through himâhe was the one who felt like crying, not his son!
âI didnât say Iâm mad at you,â Seungcheol said quickly.
âBut your face says itâŠâ Wontae mumbled, the quiver in his voice growing more pronounced.
Oh no. Shit.
âEommaaaa!â Wontae suddenly burst out, tears streaming down his cheeks as he ran toward you. Seungcheolâs eyes darted to the doorway where you were standing, suppressing a smile as you scooped up your tearful son into your arms.
âWhy? What happened?â you asked Wontae in a whisper, stroking his back to soothe him.
âYour father wasnât mad at you, was he?â you asked softly, glancing over at Seungcheol with a knowing smile. âDid he shout at you?â Wontae shook his head, hiccupping as he clung to your shoulder.
âNo,â Wontae admitted, his sobs quieting as you continued to comfort him.
âHe was just talking to you,â you reassured him, casting Seungcheol a gentle, supportive look.
Seungcheol groaned internally, a mix of confusion and self-reproach. He thought heâd nailed itâthe gentle parenting that you both had worked so hard to practice. Yet here was his son, still able to sense the tension in his expression, and hurt by it despite the lack of yelling or scolding.
Seungcheol sighed, running a hand through his hair as he sat back on his heels. âWeâre on this stage now,â he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
You glanced at him, raising a brow. âWhat stage?â
âThe threenager stage,â Seungcheol said, his tone carrying both exasperation and amusement. âI read about it somewhere. Itâs when kids start acting like teenagersârebelling, pushing boundaries, testing their parentsâ patience. Wontaeâs only three, but he already knows how to push all my buttons.â
You laughed softly, shifting Wontae in your arms as his sniffles subsided. âItâs not rebellion, Seungcheol. Itâs curiosity. Heâs learning, exploring his emotions, and figuring out how far he can go.â
âExploring his emotions by drawing on my freshly painted wall?â Seungcheol deadpanned, though a small smile tugged at his lips. He wasnât truly upset anymoreânot when Wontae was looking up at him with wide, apologetic eyes.
âExactly,â you teased, setting Wontae back down on the floor. âItâs frustrating, but itâs normal. And you handled it really well, by the way.â
Seungcheol tilted his head, raising a skeptical brow. âI did?â
âYes,â you said firmly, giving him an encouraging smile. âYou didnât yell or scare him. You explained things calmly. Thatâs the kind of parenting that sticks with them, Seungcheol. Heâll remember this.â
Seungcheol glanced at Wontae, who had returned to his coloring book but kept sneaking shy glances at his father. He felt a wave of warmth wash over him, mingled with pride and relief. I can do this, he thought. Even when itâs tough, I can do this.
âOkay, buddy,â Seungcheol said, crouching down to Wontaeâs level. âLetâs make a deal. No more drawing on the walls, okay? If you want to draw something big, weâll find some paper or maybe a special board just for you. How does that sound?â
Wontaeâs face lit up at the idea. âA special board? Really?â
âReally,â Seungcheol promised, ruffling his sonâs hair. âBut only if you promise no more wall art.â
âI promise, Appa!â Wontae beamed, holding up his pinky. Seungcheol chuckled and locked his pinky with his sonâs, sealing the deal.
You watched the exchange with a fond smile, stepping closer to place a hand on Seungcheolâs shoulder. âSee? Youâre doing great.â
Seungcheol exhaled deeply, his smile widening. âThanks, love. I guess I just need to remember to breathe. And to hide all the crayons.â
You both laughed softly, and for a moment, the chaos felt a little more manageable.
*
"One⊠Two⊠ThreeâŠ" Seungcheolâs voice was steady as he counted while Chan, drenched in sweat, gritted his teeth to finish his push-up set. His arms trembled, and his face was etched with exhaustion, but he pushed through, determined to complete the punishment.
The door to the practice room swung open, and the rest of the group filed in, their faces a mix of confusion and amusement as they took in the scene. Seungcheol stood towering over Chan, arms crossed, while the youngest member struggled through the exercise. It was a far cry from what anyone had expected when they read Seungcheol's early-morning text asking Chan to come to the practice room an hour ahead of schedule.
"Whatâs going on here?" Joshua asked, barely hiding his amusement as he watched Chan squirm on the floor.
"Ten!" Seungcheol finished his count, clapping his hands in exaggerated applause. He smirked as Chan collapsed onto the floor, utterly spent. "Thatâs ten sets doneâone hundred push-ups. Congratulations, Chan. Thatâs what you get for giving my son those crayons."
Chanâs pout was instant. "Itâs not fair! Itâs your son who drew on the wall. Why am I the one getting punished?" His voice was full of indignation, though it lacked the energy to be truly effective.
Mingyu burst into laughter, doubling over as realization dawned. "Wait, waitâWontae drew all over the wall with the crayons Chan gave him? Thatâs hilarious!" He clutched his sides, nearly toppling over from laughing so hard.
Jeonghan, leaning casually against the doorframe, nodded in mock agreement. "Honestly, it makes sense. Seungcheolâs a gentle appa with Wontaeâthereâs no way heâd punish his precious son for something like this." He shot Chan a teasing grin. "But you? Yeah, Iâd do the same if I were Seungcheol."
Chan groaned dramatically, throwing an arm over his face. "This is so unfair!" he whined, his voice muffled. "Iâm the innocent one here! Gentle appa is a fraudâheâs evil!"
Seungcheol couldnât hold back his chuckle as he crouched down to look at Chan. "Gentle appa does exist," he said with a smirk, "but only for Wontae. You and your crayons? Youâre a different story."
"See?" Jeonghan said, straightening up. "I told you. Seungcheolâs priorities are clear."
Chan sat up, still sulking. "Unfair. So unfair." He shot a glance at the others, hoping for sympathy, but all he got were amused grins and stifled laughter.
"Hey," Joshua added, chuckling softly, "at least now you know not to mess with Wontaeâs creative geniusâor his dadâs freshly painted walls."
Mingyu clapped Chan on the back, nearly knocking him over again. "Think of it as a lesson in self-sacrifice. You helped foster Wontaeâs artistic side. Thatâs a win, right?"
Chan groaned louder, flopping onto the floor in defeat, while Seungcheol leaned against the wall with a triumphant grin. "Alright, everyone. Lessonâs over. Letâs get to practice before he starts crying for real."
"So unfair!"

âYou ate without meâŠ?â Cheolâs sleepy mumble was the first thing you heard from him. He had tiredly trudged downstairs when he had woken up and you werenât next to him in the bed. It was already a bad start to the day when that happened, and he was frowning and pouting and generally sulking about it by the time he found you.
He wrapped his arms around you from the back, trapping you in the middle of the living room so you couldnât continue without giving him the attention he needed. You smiled at his clinginess and deep raspy morning voice, but scoffed at how baby-like he was in the morning. Sometimes he acted even more like a child than your actual child.Â
Eunha was your now 2 year old daughter. She was adored by everyone and constantly doted on. She could be a handful at times, but only because she had started to take after your bossiness and knew exactly how to appeal to Seungcheol. If she ever wanted something, all she had to do was look at them with those big boba eyes that she got from him, and heâd be folding.
He loved her more than anything. Probably even more than you, but you were okay with it. It warmed your heart how much he cared for his daughter. Heâd die for her in a heartbeat without a second of hesitation. You were learning more and more every day the love a father could hold for his children. You had expected this attitude when you married him, of course. Because you knew him and you knew how caring he was. He was so filled with love for people and the world, and you were so lucky to have him.
Starting a family had always been a dream for both of you, and Eunhaâs birth had been your biggest blessing. It was challenging to take care of a toddler, but you and Cheol always did your best.
Eunha was happily playing with her toy dolls after eating breakfastâ the entire living room spread with her mess. It was always a constant of cleaning her toys in the evening just for her to make a new mess the next day, but you didnât mind. It was worth it to see her so happy, and though it could be stressful to have a messy space sometimes, her happy giggles made up for it.
âWere you playing dolls with her without me as well?â Cheol asked, the pout he was wearing somehow finding its way into his tone. You giggled and he squeezed you tighter out of jealousy. He didnât want to admit that he missed your attention being only on him, but it was true.Â
You were getting up earlier to feed Eunha and play with her in the morning. The sleepy morning cuddles that Cheol looked forward to every time he fell asleep next to you were becoming rarer and rarer and he felt bitter about the change. It just wasnât the same with Eunha. It wasnât worse, it was definitely better in most aspects, but the free time that he had enjoyed before was being sucked away by the little child.
âShe wanted me to be the doctor.â You told him, explaining the dynamics of Eunhaâs favourite game. She would be the mother to her little baby doll, and either Cheol or you would usually be the doctor.
âThe bed was so cold without youâŠâ He murmured, pushing his cheek against your neck. His skin was warm against yours and you leaned into him more, savouring the feeling.
âIâm sorry. You know that Eunha likes to get up earlyâŠâ You whispered.
âShe shouldâve woken me up instead of you. Arenât you tired?âÂ
âA bit. Eating breakfast with her was nice, though. She insisted on having strawberries with her yogurt since she had seen me eat it like that once.â You smiled. Seungcheol pouted.
âI thought I was her favouriteâŠâ He was mostly joking, of course, but slightly hurt. He had always been susceptible to jealousy. Maybe he was a little too greedyâ he loved watching you and Eunha spend time together, but he also hated being left out.
Your little moment of warm embrace was interrupted after 2 minutes, a giggly Eunha running up and clinging to her fatherâs leg. She babbled something about her doll and wanting to get ice cream later today, which you were sure Seungcheol would indulge her in. He spoiled her too much.
You were happy to see your husbandâs pout lift up into the sweetest of grins. He picked up Eunha, holding her so that she was resting on his hip. He kept one arm around you; almost if you would run away and leave him if he didnât. Which was probably partially true since you hadnât cleaned up from breakfast yet.
âGive daddy a kiss?â Cheol asked Eunha, giggles ensuing amongst both of them. She leaned forward and kissed his cheek cutely and you smiled. Now that Seungcheol was awake as well, the two would be inseparable for the rest of the dayâ especially since Cheol didnât have any work to get to.
The morning happily proceeded with a small second breakfast and playtime. Now that your husband was being included in every activity, he was all smiles and giggles. He liked being the centre of attention; you had discovered that fact throughout the years. He was the happiest man in the world when he knew he was making his daughter happy.
Her happiness always came first, even when it relied on Seungcheolâs hair being tied up in pigtails with little cherry-coloured bows because Eunha wanted to play hairdresser. You were almost envious of how cute he looked in them. It was impossible not to love everything that Cheol did.
Along with the bows came matching sweaters with a cherry pattern for father and daughter. One look at the two and you could easily declare them the two cutest human beings in the entire world.

THE CAT FAMILY FT. DAD!JUN
Imagine the whole Wen family having cat like faces...
Enjoyđ
Genre: Family au, fluff, crack au, established relationship, romance, humour.
Pairings: Dad!Jun x named mom!reader
Warnings: none
"Your family is bound by fate." Jun furrowed his eyebrows and turned to look at Dino with a confused face.
"What?" he asked as Dino nodded.
"Your whole family look like cats...even Iseul noona...are you guys cat hybrids who turn into cats at night?" Dino asked making me chuckle.
"Maybe...coincidently...we met through a cat." I said as Dino tilted his head.
"Cat?" he asked as I nodded.
"I never got to thank the little guy for introducing Iseul into my life...ever since that day...I began feeding strays or abandoned pets." Jun said as he smiled at the memory.
"How did the cat introduce you to noona? Did it talk?" Dino asked as Jun chuckled.
"That's absurd...the cat was injured and laid in the corner of an alleyway and when I went close to observe its wounds Iseul came and hit me with her handbag because she thought I was gonna hurt the cat." Jun said and chuckled as he looked at his now, wife Iseul helping Jieun with the cookies and cupcakes.
"Did it hurt?" Dino asked as Jun sighed.
"Her handbag was like a rock...I was scared my skull cracked." Jun said and patted Dino.
"Let's go give the girls a helping hand." Jin said and pulled Dino off from the couch and dragged him towards the backyard in order to stop talking about the precious memory he wished to remain between him and his wife.
"But I don't know how to cook!"
Flashback
Jun's
It was a cold winter night and I wanted nothing more than to go home and slip under my warm and cozy blanket. So I tried to rush home and ran past an alleyway only to come back when I heard the soft and painful meows of a cat. I entered the alleyway and followed its sound towards a garbage bin where I spotted the injured cat behind it with a scarf wrapped around it, probably to keep him warm.
"Ouch...you must've have gotten into a pretty serious accident." I mumbled to the cat and observed it's wound on his left hind leg.
"It probably hurts a lot..." I said and tried to approach it when a sharp pain in my head halted my actions.
"Oww!" I exclaimed and caught a glimpse of my attacker...a girl.
"Don't you dare hurt him!! You creep!" she exclaimed and kept hitting me as I tried to get her to stop hitting me.
"Ow-I'm not trying to hurt him! I was just worried!" I exclaimed when she suddenlÄly stopped.
"Really? Oh...I'm so sorry! I thought you were trying to hurt him." she said and kneeled down, holding the xat and putting him inside the pet carrier she had.
"Is he your cat?" I asked as she shook her head.
"No...some stupid high schoolers were hurting him and throwing stones at him so I chased them away. He couldn't move so I put my scarf on him amd went to get my pet carrier...that's when I saw you and freaked out." she said and stood up.
"Where'd you get that pet carrier from though?" I asked when she smiled and motioned to the pet clinic across the street.
"That's my clinic...I'm a vet." she said making me gasp.
"Ohh...that's great then." I said when she chuckled and bowed.
"I truly am sorry...I didn't mean to hurt you. Gosh your face is bruising." she said looking at my face as I smiled and ran my fingers through the scars.
"It's nothing really..." I said making her pout slightly which made my heart rate accelerate.
"Oh! I need to tend to his wounds quickly!" she exclaimed and proceeded to rush to her clinic when I took the pet carrier from her hands.
"Let me help...I'm worried for the cat as much as you are." I said making her surprised as she opened the door and let me in. And that's how I ended up in the seats of her clinic with a cup of coffee after tending to the cat who was currently asleep, resting.
"I'm Iseul...what's your name?" she said and asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
"I'm Wen Junhui...nice to meet you." I said making her smile.
"The pleasure's mine...but are you sure your bruises are okay?" She asked making me puff my chest up.
"Wen Junhui doesn't feel pain...but lunch tomorrow afternoon at 12 would be great...that is...if you're interested." I said cringing internally at how I literally just asked her out on a date indirectly.
"That'd be great...by the way...you look alot like a cat..." she trailed making me chuckle as I pointed at her face.
"You too! I couldn't help but notice your cat eyes!" I said making her blush.
"Looks like we have something in common." she said looking away making me flustered at her reaction.
End of Flashback
A week after we had met the cat supposedly left on its own. Just like spring, the cat brought a waft of warmth and happiness into my life for which I forever will be greatful. Cat...because of you I was able to meet the love of my life and then got blessings in the form of two beautiful children...I finally had a little family of my own. A cat-like family.
"Jun! Could you please help me with the fish?" I was brought out of my thoughts by the sweet, honey like voice of my one and only wife.
"Coming!" I responded and went over to Iseul, taking the knife from her hands.
"You go, just sit back and relax. I'll do the rest...you've been helping out from before." I said making her smile as she kissed my cheek.
"It's alright...I'll go get the pan ready." she said making me shake my head.
"Nope. No...go rest or go play with Mei and Yuan." I said as we turned to look at where the kids were playing, their energy earning a look of adoration from Iseul who put her head on my shoulder.
"They look like kittens...I wonder if the cat from that day is alright." she said making me sigh in content as I wrapped my hands around her waist.
"He's probably doing cat stuff...laying on top of a roof, basking in the sunlight." I said and kissed her cheek.
"Yeah...probably...now let's get back to work or our kittens will start whining." Iseul said and smiled referring our kids as kittens.
"Of course!" I said and watched as Iseul went over to the kids and pulled them for a hug earning giggles from the two lively kids.
That's my Cat family...one I'll stick to for life.
