Leaving so soon?
Notes: In which you have to leave their game because your friend started to feel sick, what happens to him? Features Floyd Leech. Female reader.
Floyd’s P.O.V
There was only a little bit of time left before the game came to a close. It wasn’t supposed to be Floyd blocking the ace of the opposing team, but that was for the best. He had to be given this position after missing the free throw from earlier.
flashback
As Floyd raced up to the hoop, he wanted to check that his lover would see him making the next point. Much to his disappointment, there was no lover in sight, all there was an empty seat. Due to the sudden disappearance, he crumbled and fell on top of the ace player of the opposing team. From then on Floyd had a dark mood for the remainder of the game.
All Floyd could do was wonder. Why did she leave the game so soon? Didn’t they show up earlier? Or perhaps she never came at all. As one can imagine this had put Floyd in a sour mood the more, he thought about. This was a first for the eel too, never had he experienced an event where the ones important to him didn’t show up. For every game he had Jade would always make an appearance, plus his mom called after each game. So, what about her?
end of flashback
Finally snapping out his thoughts Floyd walked back to the locker room with the rest of the team. No one approached him, not even the coach. Ace made sure to stay out of Floyd’s way, scared of what was happening to him. Jamil, too, had stayed clear of Floyd, not because he was scared, but because he knew that if he said anything Floyd would erupt.
Looking dazed as he peered into the mirror there staring back at him was a miserable face. No hint of happiness or anger was present, just pure sadness and insecurities flashing across his face. The longer Floyd looked the more disgusted he became, why did his face look like that, he thought as he changed out of the uniform.
On the ride back he made sure to check his phone for any possible missed messages. Maybe he had missed some or perhaps he failed to hear the ring. Suddenly his screen changed as a new call came in, but it wasn’t who he wanted to hear from. As per usual Floyd’s mom called to check on how the game went.
“How did my adorable boy do~ Did you score the final point like you wanted?”
Nothing. Floyd knew he should have said something but his mind kept wandering. Of course, his mom noticed how moody he was. Floyd was usually so excited to tell her everything that happened. All of his achievements, although he never liked how she could sniff out his wrong doings. “Floyd, what’s wrong, why aren’t you answering? Oh, did I accidentally call Jade instead. Wait a moment, let me check. Hmm, that doesn’t seem to be the case. By any chance, did you… get put on the … bench?”
That was far from the truth, but it felt similar. “I didn’t get put on the bench… I… didn’t get to see her was all”. Floyd came to a quick conclusion that telling his mom would save him the trouble of getting interrogated by her. Not that he felt any better from saying it.
Floyd’s mom: “I see. Troubles with young love~ Ah I remember when I was troubled over your father too. I got so worried when I couldn’t see him at night. I didn’t know if he would make it back to me. Plus, I loved him so, so, so mu- ahem, I got a little carried away. Didn’t I?”
Floyd: “Yeaaah, you always go on rambling about him, don’t ya”
Floyd’s mom: “Well, if she didn’t show up, did she tell you the cause of her disappearance?”
Floyd: “No”
Floyd’s mom: “Then did you call her? You can’t possibly think you’ll receive answers if you don’t go hunting for them.”
Floyd: “…”
Floyd’s mom: “sigh Always being moody but not doing anything! Tell, me why didn’t you call her, I’m sure there must be a good reason if you’re preventing yourself from doing so.”
Floyd: “… What if she left cause she got so bored? What would I do then? Does that mean it’s the end”
Floyd’s mom: “I suppose that would be the case. But I don’t believe her to be one to get bored so easily, that’s you dear. From the way you’ve talked about her, I ought to believe something happened to her. Well, that’s just my thought, go on and call her dammit! You and your brother… always questioning whether to call or not.”
After being backed into a corner Floyd had to call his lover, if not for him, for his mother. She was a woman of gossip and drama.
Your P.O.V
As the second half of the game came to a close you looked over to your left, there sat your friend. She started to look as pale as a ghost, not a good sign ever. Without thinking you stood up and guided her out of the stadium. In that moment you knew you had to get her home since she wasn’t looking all too good.
Once the two of you arrived at her house, you made sure to check what was wrong. Turns out a light fever had been brewing due to the change in season. Heading to the kitchen you started looking for medicine and something to cook for her. That’s when your phone started to ring madly. Startled by the noise you looked down to see your lover Floyd calling.
While scanning the pantry you answered the phone, “Hello?” there was an empty silence on the other end. Again you responded “Hello is anyone there?” this time a rather sad voice responded back.
“Where are you? I thought you said you were so excited to see me play that you couldn’t sleep last night. Where did you go?”
A sharp pain hit your heart as you listened to Floyd's voice on the other end of the line. Placing down the medicine you explained to Floyd the situation of your friend’s fever and your whereabouts. Thankfully, this turned his mood back up as you could hear his cheerful voice responding to the news. While Floyd wasn’t too happy about you leaving, but he came to understand the matters at hand. After all, if it was Azul who had a fever, he knew well he would do the same.
The two of you ended up deciding on having a date to make up for what happened. This left Floyd and you in high spirits as the night seeped in. Floyd’s Mother had also been satisfied with the results after hearing the ending of Floyd’s tale.

Bruce, calling Clark at 2:47 am: Clark, I need your help, it's an emergency
Clark, who has never heard Batman ask for help so directly, knows whatever's going on must be truly dire: What is it? What do you need? I can be there right away
Bruce, desparate: I need your mother's phone number
Clark, not sure what emergency could be solved by his mother in the middle of the night: ...My mother's...phone number?
*loud crash in the background, followed by crying*
