What are you looking at?
I find my inspiration in people and structures. I am the kind of guy who can sit in an outdoor cafe and look at people for hours. Therefore I also find my passion in capturing people and their expression. It is often incorporated into a scenery of interest. That’s my drive. And it’s essential to find that fascination with a subject or a style to find the joy of photography. Forcing yourself to…

How to keep the sensor clean.
If you never change the lens, then the sensor will stay clean for a long time.
And if you do change the lens, make sure to change the lens at a clean place with no dust and all and change the lens with clean hands.

Views of Bucharest from my window. Taken on the very first film shot with my Lomomod No. 1 cardboard camera. The results are quite impressive for a cardboard camera with a plastic liquid-filled lens (in this case, plain-old water). Quite nice. The film was an Ilford XP-2 with ISO 400 sensitivity, as recommended for most daylight conditions with this camera. The shutter speed can be 1/100 in normal mode or manual long exposure in bulb mode. The lens is not very sharp and here I didn’t use any aperture reduction, so it’s max aperture. The focus distance is 2.5m to infinity when no adjustment discs are installed and 1.5m to 5m when one is installed. Film advance without breaking the camera is a little tricky, but doable with the first film. Assembly and loading/unloading must be done with special care, as cardboard components can be damaged easily, having an impact on the film. But it’s a fun little camera to put together and shoot and it’s a nice present for people who like to put together things, so I recommend it. #mihaitudorpopescu120mmfilm #mihaitudorpopescucardboardcamera #lomomod #lomomodno1 #bucharest #bucharestlife #cityscapes #hobby #passions #learning #educational #learningphotography #learningphysics #play #playing #playbasedlearning (la Bucharest, Romania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoISxQBNZ1E/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Reflections part III: Building upon the previous post, where we came to see how reflections help create a collaborative partnership between the photographer and the viewer of the image. This collaboration is not just superficial or temporary. It turns the photo into a long-lasting personal symbol for the spectator, which means the viewer now relate some aspects of their abstract internal world directly to the image because it provides a comprehensible visual form to an otherwise formless unresolved emotion. This doesn't mean the photo explains the feeling with logic. This only means that through that photo, the brain starts to acknowledge the existence of a hidden unexpressed feeling. Hence, it is the beginning of a zone where photography becomes therapeutic. Knowingly or unknowingly, photographers always dwell in this therapeutic zone of photography. It is through camera that many of us express emotions that even we don't understand. Therefore, when an image turns therapeutic for the viewer, knowingly or unknowingly, they also start feeling an emotional release. It is similar to a geyser releasing vapors with a burst. This is the exact reason why so many people visit galleries and exhibitions regularly. A photograph with reflection, or an image created after thorough reflection, is a visual space where both photographer and viewer can dance with their vulnerabilities. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #reflection #reflections #reflejo #photosthattalk #readingphotography #readingphotos #photographylessons #photographylesson #photographyclasses #photographyclass #learningphotography #malaga #malagacitycenter #streetphotography #awardwinningphotographer #streetphotographyspain #streetphotographersawards #streetlens #streetphotosworldwide #streetphotographersfdn #street_photography_club #street_moment #abstractphotography #abstractart #streetphotographyworldwide #streetmagazine #streetphotosclassic #streetview #streetlensmag #streetphotographer (at Málaga, Andalucia, España) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnhSnNes_fG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I tried my hand at something artistic with this earthen lamp on Karthigai festival day. First attempt at Chiaroscuro in photography which is basically an interplay of light and shadows. #chiaroscuro #photooftheday #phonephotography #fujifimindia #fujjifilm #fujifilmxt4 #fujifilmxseries #artisticphotography #learningphotography @fujifilmxindia @photographers_of_india https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl8yI0ZyOZl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

For sale of argument and to point out the importance of finishing on photos, compare the raw, un-fussed with original to the enhanced, Instagram-altered version. What I am learning is that getting the best you can in camera is completely vital, but the finishing is what directs the eye and shows the viewer what you want to see. #metaphotography #learning #learningphotography #fauxtography #waterlily #jpeg #nikon #d3200 #nikonphotography #macro #instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Clq_uw_uK4y/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

For long exposure object photography, it's important no shakings will hit the camera or the object. And it's important that the light will not be blocked.

I’ve been practicing photography again lately. The difference is that now I kinda know what am I doing when it comes to the measurements and all that. But I guess it took me long enough.
A very close relative is a professional photographer, and she gave me the first (digital) camera she ever used for me to practice. To her dismay, I soon stopped taking pics with it because I didn’t understand what was I doing, but my stubborn ass was bent on using the manual mode anyway. Try as she may, I was not really grasping what all those numbers meant. My self-imposed frustration made me put the camera away. However, I always liked photography, so I never really stopped trying to snap some good photos on my phone.
I recently got my hands on a very simple yet effective photography handbook. And, what do you know, it actually worked! I also learnt that Manual mode is not the end-all and be-all.
I still need to work on my composition and other technical stuff (50mm f/1.8 I’m looking at you). But, for however long this hobby lasts, at least I’ll have an excuse to go out and find beauty around me.
Have a happy Saturday, everyone!

Reflections part II: As I shared in the previous post, reflections in photography act as a bridge between logical and abstract parts of the viewer. Which means, it grabs the attention of both right and the left brain. Making the presented image a little more interesting as compared to other descriptive photos. In other words, photos with reflection not only provide a description of what was in front of the camera but also give space for playing creatively with ideas and information from the internal experiences of the viewer. This creative space is very important because in this space, the viewer creates their own personal and perhaps private stories. This internal act of creation is based on the external stimulation provided by the photo. Therefore, in that moment, the photo starts being a photo of the viewer as much as it belongs to the photographer who clicked it. In short, the viewer creates the meaning of the image, making the image a part of their personal experiences. In a reflection presented through photography, the photographer and the viewer collaborate naturally, as two sides of the same coin. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #reflection #reflections #reflejo #photosthattalk #readingphotography #readingphotos #photographylessons #photographylesson #photographyclasses #photographyclass #learningphotography #alcaladehenares #awardwinningphotography #awardwinningphoto #awardwinningphotographer #awardwinningphotos #streetphotographersawards #streetlens #streetphotosworldwide #streetphotographersfdn #street_photography_club #street_moment #abstractphotography #abstractart #streetphotographyworldwide #streetmagazine #streetphotosclassic #streetview #streetlensmag #streetphotographer (at Alcalá de Henares, Madrid) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cne3hb2M9ZD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
