Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

Random conversation 1:

Ever since I met a certain individual, I now find myself gazing up at the sky every once in a while. There's scenery you'll never even notice if you stick to flat, well-trodden paths. Just something I've observed. I don't dislike the vast, clear sky... But I don't think I can reach it. It's nice to know that there's something like that out there, though.

Random conversation 2:

Pasio seems to have many good restaurants. Ah, I'm not asking for specific recommendations, though... I actually enjoy walking around and looking for a place I might like. That's part of the experience. I seek the exceptional only when it comes to food. Pasio has a variety of cuisines to choose from, so it's hard to stick to just one.

Random conversation 3:

(Player), which do you tend to favor: the exceptional or the average? I was thinking of inviting you to have a meal sometime. Casually figuring out your client's preferences is a special skill that you learn as a salaried employee.

Random conversation 4:

Lunchtime is one of the few things that a salaried employee like me can look forward to at work... We can decide whether to spend that precious time eating something familiar or trying out a new restaurant. It's not just about the meal. The decision-making process leading up to it is also something to look forward to.

People, Pokémon... There's no need to overcomplicate things. Nowadays people only seem to want a shock factor. Something weird, something bizarre. When all's said and done, simplicity is strongest.

Character fatal flaws, haunted by the narrative yada yada but there's one thing that I've been thinking

Kabru said that Laios (sorry I'm paraphrasing I may be remembering his words incorrectly) is weak and doesn't look like he's capable of defeating the lord of the dungeon

Shuro said something along the lines as well when they were pummeling each other

The genius with the characters writing is, there's so much quirkiness with all these characters, eg, Marcille is not mimic!Marcille because mimic!Marcille remembered Not to throw the hot water away, even tho the real Marcille has been thru the ordeal with the undine and in spite of that she is the real Marcille, and so--Laios atp is known for his fascination of monsters, and along with that knowledge, and his determined pursuit to get back his sister has gotten them to this lower level of the dungeon

that most parties have difficulties getting to and somehow they've gotten there.

How?

Precisely because Laios IS all of these; a silly tall-man with fascination for monsters And he doesn't give up And he's intelligent And he's got a reasonable head on his shoulders; and he believes in the capabilities of all his team members. Even Shuro and Namari.

Does he get discouraged? Nope, because that quality that Shuro hates which is that Laios can compartmentalize really well that makes him think that Laios doesn't react in the way a family should when their sister is missing/turnedintoahalfchickenhalfdragonw, is what got them there. What they need precisely is a Laios

What I'm saying is, Laios is a leader that they can follow. He has what it takes. He's not weak and he's not just silly

Dr Rosenberg mentions that he “Doesn’t know what Kleiner sees in that boy” in Decay. Magnusson mentions that, should the White Forest be protected, he’ll forgive Gordon for fucking up his food in the microwave. Nobody has fucked around and found out more than Gordon Freeman

Laois protecting Marcille from the falling icicles is just the EXACT reason her and Chilchuck stayed despite everything (besides Falin for Marcille of course). Despite the two of them not understanding him, despite them being put off by his mannerisms at times, despite their varying levels of discomfort around monster food they KNOW at the end of the day Laois has their backs.

He will do everything in his power to keep his party safe with zero hesitation or convincing and he does so because he genuinely cares about them. He might not know how to time a Morale Boosting Speech for when people *dont* have a mouth full of food, but they know he'll be there for them when they need him the most.
