Cale isnt a cuddler.

He never had toys to fall asleep with, he couldn’t snuggle up to his parents after the accident and he certainly couldn’t with his uncle, and he was, most often, barely comfortable when he slept anyway.

So when the apocalypse arrived, he was the perfect person when it came to sleeping.

He didn’t move around, he didn’t snore, and he had already gotten used to falling asleep on shitty surfaces!

Jung Soo described it as eery, with the way that Rok Soo would get into a position to fall asleep and then he would stay that way for the rest of the night. His chest barely rose and fell, and on more than one occasion Soo Hyuk had woken him up because they were afraid he wasn’t breathing. Thankfully he has always been a light sleeper, so just moving around nearby would be enough to startle him awake.

They tried having a buddy system where they would sleep next to Rok Soo, “for his safety” but he would refuse and find some private place to cram himself into to sleep, scaring them even more. They tried to trick him multiple times, but Rok Soo never fell for it.

He allowed it one time.

It was a cold night, and Jung Soo was too tired from fighting monsters that they couldn’t get back to their company before nightfall.

Jung Soo had been barely coherent, grasping onto Rok Soo as he had been temporarily blinded by a poison grade 2 monster.

He refused to let go of Rok Soo, and so he gave in. He laid on the ground, curled up to Jung Soo, and pretended to be asleep.

He used his record ability intermittently throughout the entire night. It got cold enough to snow, and so Rok Soo had to be the fire for the time.

He never told Jung Soo he stayed up to keep him warm.

But that doesn’t matter.

Because now he’s Cale Henituse. He’s trash. He can sleep anywhere and at any time, but he demands a bed because he can. He demands comfort and warmth and safety. He always wants to fall asleep with a full stomach.

The others know this.

Except he can fall asleep easily when he hasn’t eaten. He can barely be counted as safe, ever, because of the White Star. He complains about the cold but they know he sometimes forgets to ask for a jacket.

The strangest story, however.

The oddest story?

Cale sleep walked.

Once.

Raon watched him get out of bed, and followed him to a nondescript corner of their newest house, where he laid down and stopped moving.

Raon woke him up immediately, and Cale was very disoriented and confused, but Raon didn’t care about the sleep walking. He cared about the stillness. Cale had looked as if he was hiding from a monster and could barely lift his chest to breathe softly.

Raon demanded to sleep next to Cale from then on, because he was worried Cale would get himself hurt.

Cale reluctantly gave in. He thinks about Soo Hyuk and Jung Soo, and thinks they’d be proud of him for opening up.

He casts that thought away.

I think, somewhere deep in my soul, I need a reaction fic that isn’t Cales coolest moments or his most traumatic backstory but just where his family sees him. They just see what he used to do in his daily life.

I need them to see how he was casually treated, how he treated the people around him. Who he was close to. Who he wasn’t.

Or I need his family to see his mistakes, big and small, and how he overcame them so they can know how he comes to the conclusions he does.

I want his family to see the life he lived before they met him so that Cale can really be SEEN.

Because we know from the POV’s we’ve gotten from other characters that Cale is seen as this incredible person, this pillar of unwavering support, but I need them to see Cale when he wasn’t.

When he needed that pillar of support that he became for his family.

I want Cale to use the skills he had as Kim Rok Soo more because like I get that he isn't physically strong now, but he also wasn't for a long time before and would have had to compensate. Also he was on like the most bamf teams apparently. Now imagine a time of peace where cale is truly relaxed and someone like Choi Han or Ron accidently sneak up on him and he just like judo flips them. It would be hysterical

i keep remembering how Kim Ruksu is rich but acts like a poor and when he turns into Cale, he acts like rich rich cuz he is rich rich fr. man is the wealthiest both earth and in another world but acts differently and still has the same goal, to have a rest house and farm quietly and remember that Cale has been working his ass off even before he becomes team leader, and I'm sure that people around the world give him lots of stuff and money for his skills and he's the type of person who won't refuse it and just probably put everything in a basement or smth also when eru asked him for money, the dragon itself was shocked at how nonchalant he is lmfao i love this man so much pls give him his slacker life, don't make him a god even tho it's quite expected...

This is one interaction between Cale and Earth 2 LSH that lives rent free in my head and brings me to tears every time I read it. Even more after recently reading Cale and Sui Khan/LSH’s reunion in book 2.

This means so much for both Earth 2 LSH and Cale/ KRS, but specially for Cale/KRS because we know! we know how much he has suffered! How much he struggled!! that even though it was a painful and lonely journey, that even though he fell and fell again, he stood up and kept on going. He kept on living!! He persisted!! And now, even though not everything is going his way, he has people he can trust and lean on. He’s no longer on his own… Of course, he’s nowhere near “healed” of his trauma, and that’s ok. There’s no such thing as being completely healed from our past. However, we can grow from it and we can lean on our people and more importantly on ourselves! That’s something I learned from Cale/KRS. As long as I have faith in my self and trust my people there’s nothing I can’t overcome, even if it’s difficult.

I love them so much!!😭♥️
