he hadn’t seen her in years, not since they were both in college, and quite frankly, he had never expected to see her again. they’d been close when they were younger, but had lost touch once they went their seperate ways. while aaron had occasionally thought about her over the years, he’d never considered reaching out and contacting her -- a busy schedule didn’t really allow for the time. but when the opportunity came to catch up with his old friends from college, knowing full and well that she’d be there too, he jumped at it. and he’s so glad that he did because it felt just like old times, and that no time had really passed at all. raising his glass to his lips, he takes a swig of his beer, smile playing on his features as he’s fully enthralled by her. “ okay, okay. enough about how embarrassing i was when i was young .. we’ve gotta talk about you ! what have you been up to all these years ? ”

     FINLEY  HAD  LOST  HER  WAY  LONG  BEFORE  THE  MAP  WAS  SWEPT  OUT  OF  HER  HANDS  BY  A  CRUEL  ACT  OF  FATE  ,  otherwise  known  as  the  wind.  in  any  other  situation  she  would  have  been  able  to  look  to  her  companion  for  assistance  but  ,  in  this  case  ,  she  didn’t  want  calum  to  see  her  squirm.  it  was  hard  enough  to  have  been  sent  inland  to  a  foreign  nation  by  her  captain  to  pick  up  supplies  without  having  her  brother’s  lackey  tag  along.  she  could  already  imagine  his  biting  remarks  —  a  scowl  made  an  ugly  scar  across  her  face  at  the  thought  of  it.  rather  than  acting  as  if  the  loss  of  the  map  was  as  catastrophic  as  it  was  in  reality  ,  finley  shrugged  it  off  ,  muttering  about  how  it  couldn’t  be  that  hard  to  get  to  the  village. 

     her  confidence  faltered  when  they  rounded  a  corner  and  found  a  familiar  cropping  of  flowers  and  trees.  finley’s  words  came  out  in  a  growl  ,  “  DAMN  this  place.  ”  she  stormed  down  the  path  ,  kicking  up  the  dirt as  she  went.  “  gods  help  it  if  i  ever  get  out  of  here!  ”  finley  yelled  as  she  took  a  well  aimed  kick  at  a  stone  and  sent  it  soaring.  

     it  didn’t  take  long  for  her  to  turn  her  frustration  to  calum  ,  “  are  you  going  to  HELP  at  all?  ”  /  @lcdiebird​

🌃 : ben knocking on my charlie’s door late

It’s not like she had been sleeping. Her eyes were glued on the television screen, but really, she was barely paying any attention - just bleary eyed and fuzzy minded. She wasn’t so much as bored as she was lonely. Which, in itself, sucked because she rarely ever felt that way, which is why she didn’t want to sleep yet. Or not she’d wake up feeling worse. She liked being alone, but the past three weeks just culminated into this. This feeling of loneliness she loathed with every fiber of her being. But there wasn’t much she could actually do about it. 

It was nearly three a.m. Nora was staying over at her boyfriends’ place (the one she didn’t particularly like) and Syd was definitely asleep. Ben… Well, she’d been waiting on a reply from her own boyfriend for the past forty minutes, but she knew he was busy trying to meet deadlines with his comic. He had been busy ever since he got this job for the summer.  Of course, she was proud of him and excited for what he was doing, but it was proving harder and harder to see him as much as she wanted to. And they were very much fine with some space.

But still, with it being their last summer before they finish university, maybe Charlie was a little selfish with her want to see him as much as she could. Sure, they had their podcast, but she still wanted to see him, and not just talk to him over Discord.

So color her surprised when she heard the knock on her door. Even more so once the fear subsided when she looked through the peephole and saw Ben standing there. 

Charlie blinked in confusion as she opened the door to face her boyfriend, tilting her head slightly while she let him in. Almost a month since she saw him in the flesh last. She’d have gone to hug him if she weren’t so frozen with confusion and sleep deprived. “Dude, what’re you doing here? I thought you had that deadline?” She closed the door behind her. The last message he sent her, forty minutes ago, didn’t mention anything about  him coming over. 

But her thoughts were cut short by the feeling of his lips on her’s the moment he slipped off his hoodie. The kiss deepened so easily, so passionately, and Charlie was clinging on to Ben tightly. Okay. Wow she missed him. A lot. So fucking much. She’d repressed it all and numbed it so she didn’t have to think about it, but having him here again made her chest burst with all those icky emotions mixed with the relief and joy of the fact he was right there with her now. 

She relished the feeling of him hugging her tight to him, of the way he was lifting her up slightly so she didn’t have to crane her neck too much.  She missed him. So much. Too much. And the fact he had come all the way here, just to see her, she knew he felt the same too.

When they finally pulled away, both completely breathless and grinning from ear-to-ear, they chuckled together.

“Hey, Oh.” he said softly, bumping his nose to her’s, and she understood completely what he was meaning behind the simple gesture.

“Hey, Miller.” she replied, the lone word conveying the vast spectrum of emotions she felt in the moment, not needing to say much else before she leaned in to kiss him again.

    " right now?  this conversation, actually. ” one side of his lips quirked up in a smirk as he glanced at keira.  he didn’t mean for this to happen, them wandering campus aimlessly in the dead of night that is, but procrastination’s powers over him were infinite.  when keira asked if he wanted to get some air, joey all but sprinted out the door, eager to leave his bio class work behind.  he didn’t know the walk came with heavy questions, though.  nerves buzzed through him as he thought about all the things that did, in fact, keep him up: midterms, work, his parents, ghosts for god’s sake ( her, a part of him whispered ).

    all the things he didn’t say sat on the tip of his tongue. instead of letting his thoughts tumble out haphazardly, he opted to ask, “ why so interested in me in bed?”  his smirk only grew as he teased her.

😭 : seeing nora crying

It was nearing opening night so closely now, Davie could feel it in his bones. Everything was in full swing now, and extremely chaotic in every sense that is was hard to catch up. It was his first production, so for the most part, everyone was pulling him along and telling him what to do. It was kind of obvious to how lost he was in between all of this.

Even then still, the one thing he wasn’t lost about doing was doing his parts. As as actor and a boyfriend to the star of the show. 

Which was why even from the beginning, he could sense how tense Nora was. She was always a bit high strung, especially when it came to the musical, and Davie didn’t really mind at all. But over time he started noticing how it became a different kind of tension. Of course, he tried his best to alleviate her stress, helping her out whenever he could - buying her lunch, waiting for her when she wanted to practice late - but he only hoped it could give the effect he wanted.

As long as she was happy, he would be as well.

Which was why when he heard the sob coming from her as they walked home one night, he was quick to move to hold her. Not even missing a beat, his arms circled around her, letting her rest entirely against his sturdy frame. 

He didn’t even question her, letting her cry into his shirt for however long she needed as he stroked her hair with one hand and held her waist firm with the other. He wasn’t particularly perceptive, but with Nora, even if it had been a couple months at best, he noticed. She was crying, not only out of sadness, but particularly out of stress, and frustration. Out of the pressure she put on herself he could see her try to hide from most people. 

And he knew that they could talk about it later - tomorrow, maybe. Next week, more likely. But for now, he let the girl he loved cry as much as she wanted. No matter how long she needed to. Because he was there to hold her. To comfort her. 

He did it gladly, humming comforting words, swiping at the tears. Davie pressed kisses all along her face in hopes that it would help her some. That it would alleviate maybe the tiniest bit of the pain she was feeling. That the taste of the salt on his lips from the tears would mean he could share that frustration so she wouldn’t have to harbor it alone.

Mostly, he just hoped Nora knew he would be there for her whenever she needed it.
