The boys suckered me into getting Nebula and now I’m binging the Layover pod. It’s so good. I’m pleased. The way they’re addressing everything that I yelled at the screen while watching the seasons is wonderful.
I won’t spoil but if you have disposable income this jet lag off season - feel free to engage in some Layover pod enjoyment. (I’d love to discuss!!)

I've been struggling to be motivated to do any writing or much of anything lately. I won't go deep into it, but I did this to just do some writing for fun. It's been healing. Just two little drabbles.
I apologize to those who don't want more BG3 shenanigans. This is about my Tavs, Beryl (Wood Elf Warlock Bard) and Tessa (Human Rogue Ranger), because I love them. I might keep them as just DnD characters to play in the future or give them their own unique story.
If you're a BG3 fan, I'm sorry about getting my brain babies all over everything.
It Wasn't Kindness
Beryl couldn’t even remember why she was in Baldur’s Gate to begin with. It was probably nothing more than a layover to where she actually wanted to be. It all seemed so unimportant now. Until this tadpole in her head was dealt with, she wouldn’t be able to focus on much else. Getting off the Nautiloid had been her first priority.
Gaining party members had been a side effect of her journey. The first person the Wood Elf had encountered was Lae’zel. The Githyanki was a formidable but vexatious ally. She was the right amount of unhinged, topped with a refreshing bluntness. You were never left wondering where you stood with Lae’zel. Beryl could work with that.
As they made their way off the Nautiloid, Beryl and Lae’zel came across Tessa, a human rogue, trying to pry a half-elf out of one of the pods. The woman was desperate for this help which Lae’zel was hesitant to give. Beryl nearly walked on by but something compelled her to stay. Maybe she was getting soft or just stupid.
Once free, the half-elf would introduce herself as Shadowheart. It turned out to be for the best since she was a cleric. It always helped to have one on your team. Tessa found her own way of being annoying: she was too fucking nice.
Beryl wrote her off as an idiot who would probably get them killed. Yet her skills would be helpful. And Beryl couldn’t turn any of them away, could she? It wasn’t out of kindness, of course. That would be silly. They all needed each other to survive this. It wasn’t deeper than that.
As they traveled forth, the group kept growing. Tessa was insistent on saving Gale of Waterdeep from the sigil. The wizard was grateful and Beryl would be remiss if she didn’t admit having a wizard around is a good idea.
Astarion was different. He had greeted Beryl with a knife to the throat. Yet she admired his moxie. The pretty face didn’t hurt either. Tessa seemed more annoyed by how easily Beryl let him join them after attacking her.
“I’ll take responsibility if he does anything untoward, don’t worry,”
“Like holding a knife to your neck?”
“Oh, would you let that go?” Beryl was tired of this conversation.
“Gods, you really can get away with anything if you have a pretty face.”
“Not that you would know anything about that.” Beryl immediately regretted the words. She sounded so much like her mother in that sentence. She sighed, prepared to swallow her pride and apologize.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that, it was a knee-jerk reaction.”
But to her surprise, Tessa was laughing.
“Your words have no sting,” Tessa said. “Just something a very hurt person says when backed into a proverbial corner.”
Beryl scowled at the accusation.
“You’re forgiven.” Tessa’s tone was obnoxiously saccharine. Beryl made a mental note to never apologize to her again.
“We need all the help we can get.” Beryl felt the need to defend her decision suddenly. “It can’t hurt having two rogues with us.”
Tessa mulled this over. “I guess, but if he kills anyone here, it’s on you. And he better not kill me. I’ll be particularly angry about it.”
Beryl nodded, accepting the terms of the agreement. This seemed to appease Tessa.
The other companions weren’t any less drama free, especially when Wyll and Karlach joined. Beryl wasn’t used to playing peacemaker, but she had managed to keep Wyll and Karlach from killing one another. Beryl was used to traveling alone. Solving other people’s quarrels was not her forte and yet here she was. Doing just that.
But she wasn’t doing this out of kindness. None of this was kindness. It was survival, just like she’d been taught. She didn’t care about any of these people.
She couldn’t care about them. It would be a weakness and weakness means death.
So no. It wasn’t kindness.
It wasn't.
Right In Front of My Party?
“It’s quite thrilling, to fight off such grim creatures as this region throws at us. Especially being at your side.”
Tessa and Gale locked eyes. He spoke to her as if she were the only person in the world. In that moment, she was at least to him. Despite the entire band of misfits standing just behind them, forced to witness this display of overt horniness.
“I once read a book that explained in some detail the effect a brush with dangers has on one’s desire for… other forms of stimulation. Have you ever read anything on that subject?”
Beryl furrowed her brow. Was he really doing this here? In front of everyone?
The wood elf glanced around the group, searching for an ally in her confusion. Karlach watched with an adoring look on her face, like she was watching a romance novel unfold. Wyll gave a sly thumbs up to Gale to encourage him. He had been playing the role of wingman for Gale so Beryl couldn’t feign surprise at it.
Shadowheart was unmoved. Lae’zel didn’t seem as disgusted by it as Beryl thought she would be. It made some sense given how much githyanki connected love and fighting. The group had seen how true that was first hand through Shadowheart and Lae’zel’s unique romance.
Beryl believed Lae’zel felt nothing but hatred for Shadowheart, especially after catching them at each other’s throats one night. But only a few nights later, Beryl had heard sounds from Lae’zel’s tent that seemed to indicate they had more than buried the hatchet.
Beryl struggled for some kind of sex pun, but it eluded her. Lae’zel buried her hatchet in Shadowheart’s? No. No, that was bad.
Shadowheart was “the source of her bruises.” Of course, she wouldn’t mind whatever it was Gale was doing right now.
Astarion had a mischievous grin, enjoying the show. He was so adept at that act of flirting, it wasn’t a surprise he was relishing Gale’s awkwardness. It was like a wild animal studying a caged one.
Beryl turned to Tessa. She had to be mortified––
“Read?” Tessa gave a flirtatious smirk. “I could have written the thing.”
These absolute freaks. Tessa looked ready to jump his bones.
“I believe you. You never looked so beautiful as at the end of a stirring battle, your cheeks flushed, gaze bright, muscles glistening,” he continued. “Perhaps it’s just the thrill of our near-death experience talking. But standing at your side through such darkness and disrepair, it only makes me want you more.”
Gale paused to regroup himself. “Unfortunately this is neither the time nor place to indulge such feelings. So, we must be patient and push all such thoughts aside. For now.”
Though a bit disappointed, Tessa nodded in agreement. Gale placed a hand on the small of her back to guide her to the Last Light Inn.
Beryl hated that she was happy for her two humans. She should have just been embarrassed for them, yet her brain signaled to her that this was “cute.”
“Pity,” Astarion commented with a fanged smile. “I thought we’d be getting a show. I can’t say I wouldn’t have enjoyed it, even if it involved Gale.”
Beryl met Astarion’s eyes. He seemed to be drinking her in. Beryl couldn’t keep her grin at bay when he sent attention her way. While she knew Astarion was using her either for sex or something else, she did appreciate his boldness. He got to the point. He didn’t waste time on conversations about books and battlefields. He just asked if you wanted to have sex.
“Don’t you agree?” Astarion’s voice was dangerously low. Beryl’s eyes widened, taken aback. She nodded slowly. Oh no. Oh no, oh no. They were flirting over the idea of those two having sex on the battlefield.
Pleased by the confession, Astarion began to follow the rest of the group to the inn.
“Don’t fall behind, my sweet,” Astarion noted. “You don’t want to be caught in the shadows.”
Beryl didn’t need to be told twice.
Gods, she was an absolute freak, too.

For the first time ever I had an overnight layover, the flight was cheaper this way and the stop was in Copenhagen, so I said, why not?? Also I've always wanted to stay in a pod style hotel and they have one there, my bed was in the floor, my key was a bracelet
However I failed to account for the limited public transit options at midnight on a Sunday night and this hotel was not close to the airport, so I ended up taking a taxi which cost (I kid you not) almost as must as the room 😅 BUT I love Copenhagen and got to enjoy a little morning stroll and Danish breakfast, so was it worth it??? Idk, maybe only because of my obsession with cute tiny spaces hahahah

7 Hours in Etihad’s First Class Suite
Let me just say right off the bat, it's not long enough.
And also, by no mean this is a review — because honestly, this flight is spectacular and I’m really not gonna get into the nitty-gritty, technical stuff (you can totally google that at your leisure).
After a whirlwind of a 10-hour, martini-filled, water-deprived stopover in London (more on that later), it’s finally time to hop into the flight that I’ve been watching over-and-over-and-over again on YouTube: the Etihad first class suite, with service to Abu Dhabi, on a Boeing 787-9.
I knew this flight was gonna be great. It’s so great it totally ruins flying (any other way) for me.
The second I stepped on the plane and the flight attendant got a glance of my seat number, *ahem* 1A, you could see almost a mini panic as she was trying to find the first class FA to take me to my personal suite. Yes, not a pod, not a seat — a suite. Bed, dining table for two and closet space included.
Trying not to lose my mind next to the couple who’s clearly done this before, I calmly sat down to make sure everything was okay (as if anything would go wrong). Noise cancelling earphones, check. Entertainment centre. check. Mini bar, stocked. Acqua di Parma amenity kit and faux fur throw, check, check, check. I took a decent amount of content yet I forgot to take a photo of the actual suite without me in it — amateur. I guess I’ll have to remind myself, for next time.
"This smells, tastes, and feels rich" I said to myself as I sipped the 2006 Charles Heidsieck Brut (bless pre-departure champagne) that's served alongside Arabic coffee, dates, and cold towel. I was fully living the Sex and The City 2 Movie fantasy, with less marital issues and no sheikh paying for the trip. As they're boarding the rest of the plebs plane, my assigned flight attendant went through a laundry list of preferences for the rest of the flight: dinner service, wine pairing, water (still or sparkling), level of privacy, and more importantly what champagne would I like for right after take-off — The answer, was rosé, by the way.
She then dropped off a bag of loungewear for me to change to if I prefer, which, I absolutely needed to, since I was wearing a very London-specific Thom Browne tartan suit to dress the part with not enough room to handle every menu items we're about to devour.
I was utterly torn, between drinking as much 2002 vintage champagne until I’m unconscious in this suite or catching up on sleep as we had a 17 hour layover in Abu Dhabi awaited us.
As I continued to ponder, the plane took off. Never in my life I witnessed a  take off this smooth, this quite— it’s almost like the engines just whisper “let’s go girls” oh so subtly. And not three minutes after, a glistening, freshly popped, frosty bottle of Champagne Duval-Leroy Rosé Prestige showed up at my door. And this, marked the beginning of the most incredible three-hour dining experience in the sky.
A change of clothes, fresh towel, and a switch to Duval-Leroy Femme de Champagne 2002 later, the caviar service begins — A proper caviar service. With blinis en accompagnement, and of course, the mother of pearl spoon that I almost smuggled into my amenity kit.
“Would you like some more champagne”, she asked, fully knowing we finished half a bottle within the first 15 mins of dinner. I mean, what kind of monster would say no? By the time the lobster course arrived, we’re one bottle in, and flying has never felt better. We managed to go through most to the wine list (pictured below) and honestly, this list slaps. Hard. Hard enough to piss off some somm friends.
The Jacques Prieur was stunning, oh-so-fragrant and crisp, with balanced salinity to finish. The Pascal Jolivet was delightfully expressive with lovely, lingering mouthfeel. By the time we wanted to taste the riesling, the palate cleanser arrived, followed by the main course shortly. Yes, there’s a palate cleanser course.
Cooking tenderloin to a perfect medium rare is as hard as it is for some restaurants with fully equipped kitchen. Somehow, Etihad nails it, 30,000ft in the air — now that’s impressive. Whatever magic compartment they have in their galley, it works. For the wine, I managed to tasted all the reds and well, big surprise (not really), the Cabernet plays so elegantly with this perfectly cooked piece of meat.
The stretchy pyjama pants were barely holding it anymore but I still had to save some room for dessert — creme brûlée with a side of Haagen Dasz ice cream, which I washed down with another glass of the ’02 Femme de Champagne.
*Knock knock* “Would you like me to make the bed for you?” - a sentence I don’t hear enough on the ground, let alone in the sky. Honestly, It’s even more special when it’s asked on an Acqua di Parma-scented cabin. As she’s getting my bed ready, we took a little stroll around the plane to see where the rest of the people lived, and you know, stretched… I returned to a fully made bed with a side of crippling anxiety, knowing that for the rest of our journey, there’s no first class cabin on the planes — scary, I know (Kidding, Etihad’s business cabins aren’t so bad). Nothing another glass of champagne couldn’t fix at this point. So I ordered bed-side champagne to calm me down. *closed doors*
I went to bed, half-drunk, fully stuffed and extremely exhausted. The 3-hr nap I had was clearly not enough to prepare me for what’s waiting for us on the other side. But frankly, that was a very comfortable nap. The flight attendant gently nudge me to notify that it’s time for breakfast. I woke up still drunk, still full, with 90-something minute left on this flight. I couldn’t possibly eat another bite. What was supposed to be an omelette and caviar breakfast, turned into a coffee and champagne kind.
Never thought hearing “thirty minutes to landing” could make someone feel so sad, but there I was, back in my suit, sipping the last of the ’02 Femme de Champagne, not ready to leave the flight.
Thank you Etihad for the most incredible 7 hours in the sky, Michelin-star-worthy (I said what I said) dinner experience, and if you’re reading this, I’m ready for another trip on the first class suite, and hopefully on the A380 next time.
See you in Abu Dhabi!

well i'm going to be going through hell next week. 10hr flight with a 6hr layover to move a storage unit to a pod with like a 2-day deadline (idk. timezones, right?) and then 16hr flight with 9hr layover back, only to wait 2wks for the pod to arrive. and THEN i start work the next day. not sure if they're onboarding me on the nightshift or if i have to onboard on the dayshift and THEN switch to nightshift. if i get through this without committing a murder it will be a miracle for the rest of y'all. which is to say, get the fuck out of my way and don't fucking sass me because i have 0 minutes scheduled for bullshit. i do have several hours scheduled for drinking with friends though. so there's that. but both of the layovers are in FUCKING VEGAS it's the WORST AIRPORT. they have all the gates arranged in circular nodes, if memory serves. which to be fair, is better than the salt lake airport, which they just renovated to schedule all the redeye flights at the furthest possible gate so you have to walk through all the fresh architecture to get the fuck out of there. can someone murder a capitalist for me. because if you don't i'm about to

Antarctic Adventure: A Bangladeshi’s Polar Expedition
Tumblr media
Embarking on a journey to Antarctica is an unparalleled experience, especially for a Bangladeshi traveler. This pristine, icy wilderness offers a stark contrast to the tropical climate of Bangladesh, promising an adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes, unique wildlife, and the thrill of exploring the least inhabited continent on Earth.
The Journey Begins: From Dhaka to Antarctica
Starting from Dhaka, the journey to Antarctica is an odyssey in itself. Travelers usually fly to a gateway city such as Punta Arenas in Chile or Ushuaia in Argentina. These cities serve as the launching points for Antarctic expeditions. Flights from Dhaka to these cities typically involve multiple layovers, making it a long but exciting journey.
Preparing for the Expedition
Preparation is key to a successful Antarctic adventure. Given the extreme weather conditions, packing the right gear is crucial. Layered clothing, waterproof outerwear, thermal gloves, and sturdy boots are essential. Travelers should also carry personal items such as sunscreen, lip balm, and high-quality cameras to capture the awe-inspiring beauty of the continent.
Boarding the Expedition Vessel
Once in the gateway city, travelers board an expedition vessel, which will be their home for the duration of the trip. These vessels are specially designed to navigate the icy waters and offer comfortable accommodations along with amenities such as dining areas, lecture halls, and observation decks.
Crossing the Drake Passage
The voyage to Antarctica involves crossing the Drake Passage, one of the most turbulent sea routes in the world. This part of the journey is both challenging and exhilarating, as travelers experience the powerful forces of nature and the anticipation of nearing the Antarctic continent.
Exploring the White Continent
Upon reaching Antarctica, the true adventure begins. Travelers disembark onto the icy shores, exploring stunning landscapes filled with glaciers, icebergs, and snow-covered mountains. Guided tours by experienced expedition leaders ensure safety and provide deep insights into the unique environment.
Encountering Unique Wildlife
Antarctica is home to a remarkable array of wildlife, including various species of penguins, seals, and whales. Observing these animals in their natural habitat is a highlight of the expedition. The sight of a colony of emperor penguins or a pod of orcas swimming by is an unforgettable experience.
Immersive Activities
Expedition activities can include ice climbing, kayaking, and even camping on the ice. These activities offer a deeper immersion into the Antarctic environment, allowing travelers to experience the raw beauty and tranquility of this remote region.
Environmental Awareness
Antarctic expeditions also emphasize the importance of environmental conservation. Travelers learn about the impact of climate change on this fragile ecosystem and the measures being taken to preserve it. Responsible travel practices are encouraged to minimize the environmental footprint.
The Return Journey
The journey back to Dhaka marks the end of an incredible adventure. The memories of Antarctica's pristine beauty, the thrill of exploration, and the encounters with unique wildlife linger long after the trip is over. Sharing these experiences with friends and family in Bangladesh can inspire others to embark on their own polar expeditions.
Conclusion
An Antarctic adventure is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, offering Bangladeshi travelers the chance to explore one of the most remote and stunning places on Earth. It is a journey that requires careful preparation, but the rewards are immense. From the awe-inspiring landscapes to the unique wildlife encounters, Antarctica promises an expedition that will leave a lasting impression and a deeper appreciation for our planet's natural wonders.

Terminal 3's Sleeping Pods: Where Comfort Meets Convenience
Introduction
Travelling can be an exhausting experience, especially when faced with long layovers. Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport offers a unique solution to this problem: sleeping pods. These pods provide travellers with a comfortable and convenient resting place, transforming layovers from a hassle into a relaxing break. As a satisfied customer of TransitPodServices, I can attest to the quality and comfort these sleeping pods offer.
The Need for Sleeping Pods
Long layovers often leave travellers tired and uncomfortable, with few options for quality rest. Sleeping on airport benches or floors is far from ideal, and finding a comfortable, relaxing place can be challenging. This is where sleeping pods come in. They provide a private, quiet, and cosy space to rest, making layovers much more bearable.
Location and Accessibility
The sleeping pods are conveniently located within Terminal 3, making them easily accessible for travellers. Signs are well-placed throughout the terminal, guiding you to the pods quickly. You'll find the pods easily if you arrive from an international or domestic flight.
Booking and Pricing
Booking a sleeping pod is straightforward. You can reserve a pod online through the TransitPodServices website or at the airport. The pricing is reasonable, with options to book by the hour or for an extended period. There are various packages available, catering to different needs and budgets and sleeping pods at terminal 3
Tumblr media
First Impressions
Upon arriving at the sleeping pod area, I was immediately impressed by the clean and modern design. The check-in process was quick and efficient, with friendly staff ready to assist. My initial thoughts were positive, and I was eager to experience the comfort promised by these pods.
Pod Features and Comfort
The sleeping pods are designed with the traveller's comfort in mind. Each pod includes a cosy bed with fresh linens, a soft pillow, and temperature controls to create the perfect sleeping environment. The pods are also equipped with a reading light, a mirror, and ample space for luggage. Privacy is ensured with a sliding door, and security features like personal lockers provide peace of mind.
Facilities and Amenities
In addition to the basic features, the sleeping pods offer several amenities to enhance your stay. Complimentary Wi-Fi allows you to stay connected or catch up on work. Each pod also has charging ports for your electronic devices, ensuring they are ready for the next leg of your journey. Some pods even come with a small desk, perfect for business travellers needing a workspace.
Hygiene and Cleanliness
Hygiene is a top priority for TransitPodServices. After each use, the pods are thoroughly cleaned, and fresh linens are provided for every new guest. During my stay, I found the pod spotless and well-maintained, reflecting the high standards of cleanliness upheld by the service.
Customer Service Experience
The staff at TransitPodServices were exceptional. They were courteous, attentive, and always ready to help with queries or concerns. Their professionalism and friendliness added to the overall positive experience, making me feel well cared for.
Sleep Quality
My sleep experience in the pod was excellent. The bed was comfortable, and the temperature was just right. Despite being in a busy airport, the pod was remarkably quiet, giving me a restful sleep. The noise insulation worked well, and I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to continue my journey.
Convenience for Travelers
The sleeping pods cater to a wide range of travellers. Business travellers will appreciate the workspace and connectivity options, while families can benefit from the comfort and privacy. Solo travellers like myself will find the pods to be a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the airport.
Comparing Alternatives
Sleeping pods offer a unique blend of affordability, convenience, and comfort compared to other resting options at the airport, such as lounges or nearby hotels. Lounges can be crowded, and hotels often require a long trek through the airport. Sleeping pods, however, are conveniently located and provide a private space tailored to individual needs.

Tips for Surviving a Long Layover
Book cheap flight tickets and hotels- https://trailtravelz.com/
Traveling can be an exhilarating experience, filled with new destinations, adventures, and cultural discoveries. However, one aspect of travel that can often be less exciting is the long layover. Whether you're flying halfway around the world or making a connecting flight, long layovers can test even the most seasoned traveler's patience. Fortunately, with some strategic planning and a positive mindset, you can turn a potentially tiresome layover into a productive or even enjoyable part of your journey. Here are some valuable tips for surviving a long layover:
1. Plan Ahead: Before embarking on your journey, research the airports where you have layovers. Check their facilities, amenities, and layout to get an idea of what to expect. Some airports are equipped with comfortable lounges, quiet areas, or even sleeping pods that you can utilize during your layover.
2. Pack Essentials in Your Carry-On: Ensure your carry-on bag contains essential items such as a travel pillow, blanket, eye mask, earplugs or noise-canceling headphones, snacks, and a refillable water bottle. These items can significantly enhance your comfort during a long wait.
3. Stay Connected: Most airports nowadays offer free Wi-Fi. Take advantage of this to stay connected with loved ones, catch up on work or emails, stream movies, or plan the next leg of your journey. Having entertainment options can make time fly by faster.
4. Explore Airport Amenities: Many airports have evolved into mini cities with a wide range of amenities. Use your layover to explore what the airport has to offer. Some may have art exhibits, cultural displays, spa services, fitness centers, or even local cuisine options worth trying.
5. Stretch Your Legs: Sitting for extended periods can be uncomfortable and unhealthy. Make it a point to walk around the terminal regularly. Some airports even have designated yoga or stretching areas where you can relax and rejuvenate.
6. Take a City Tour: If your layover is particularly long (usually several hours), check if the airport offers city tours for passengers with extended waits. This can be a fantastic opportunity to see a glimpse of the city you're in without the hassle of arranging visas or transportation.
7. Catch Up on Rest: If your layover is overnight or if you're exhausted from a long flight, look for quiet areas or lounges where you can rest or even take a nap. Some airports have sleeping pods or comfortable seating options that can provide much-needed rest.
8. Plan for Meals: Food options at airports can vary widely in terms of quality and price. Research restaurants or cafes in advance, or use apps that list airport dining options. Alternatively, pack some snacks or a light meal to save money and ensure you have something to eat during your layover.
9. Stay Informed: Monitor flight updates and gate changes closely, especially if you have a tight connection. Use airport apps or check with airline staff for real-time information to avoid missing your connecting flight.
10. Stay Positive and Flexible: Approach your layover with a positive mindset. Sometimes unexpected delays or changes in plans can occur, but staying calm and flexible can make the experience less stressful. Use the time to relax, reflect on your travels, or engage in activities you enjoy.
By following these tips, you can transform a potentially tedious layover into a productive or enjoyable part of your journey. Remember, preparation and a positive attitude are key to making the most out of any travel experience, including long layovers.

The Thailand Hotties Takeover Made It Out Of The Group Chat
Sawasdee Krab, fellow beautiful people! Join me as I recap the amazing adventure of Jewel’s Twenty Fine birthday group trip to Phuket, Thailand. Last year May 2023 we celebrated the fabulous twenty-fifth birthday of my dear friend Jewel. From exciting interactions while swimming with the elephants to dancing the night away at Sugar Phuket. Our 13-day adventure in the Land of Smiles was a celebration of culture, friendship, and unforgettable moments.
In the year 2023 alone I traveled to 4 countries and had the hottest summer full of excitement and fun experiences. My friend Jewel sent out her birthday invitations for her group trip to Thailand back in November of 2022. To confirm and hold our spots we each had to pay a deposit of $200. If you decided last minute you no longer wanted to attend then you would forfeit your deposit. In which I thought was a very smart idea. The group chat originally started with I believe 13 or 14 people. But only 10 of us made it out of the chat. Bare in mind that we were splitting the cost based on the confirmed headcount and deposits paid. However, I would just like to add that if you know financially you are not in a position to afford a trip abroad before you say yes think about the expenses and how it will affect the planning process. Don’t be selfish and drop out 1 month or a few weeks before the trip. It’s inconsiderate and unfair to those who have already put money down.
I honestly commend Jewel because the trip was organized very well from the beginning. She went the extra mile to make sure each of us were accommodated and felt included in the planning process. She created a group chat with everyone who was invited and then informed us to download the app Plannet. This app is genius, it gives you the financial breakdown and itinerary all in one app. You can add your Airbnb to the itinerary, add time slots for each activity, see the cost of each restaurant and excursion, and also connect with locals via the app.
Be sure to download the app Plannet.io to curate the trip itinerary and keep track of the individual financial obligations in the app.
JFK > Germany (10 hour layover) > Singapore > Phuket, Thailand
We left JFK on May 9th in the evening and landed the next day at Frankfurt airport. Our 10 hour layover in Germany was super long but we made the best of it. We took a train ride into a local town shopping center, ate lunch and shopped around. It was my second time to Germany but my German is not the greatest, we had a hard time navigating the train sysytem but figured it out. Have you ever showered in the airport? It was quite the experience, think of showering in the gym or a spa that is what it felt like. Frankfurt airport had the nap pods , I wanted to try it out because I was sooo sleepy but they all were booked out.
Phuket, Thailand > Bangkok > Abu Dhabi > JFK
As we touched down in Thailand, all I remember was that the air was thick and it was extremely HOT!! Our home for the trip, a luxurous villa booked via Air BnB, that sat high up on a hill and came with a scenic view of Phuket.
Check out our Phuket, thailand Itinerary below:
Ma Doo Bua Cafe
This restaurant is one of the top instagrammable places in Thailand. The aesthetic and overall tranquility is extremely aesthetically pleasing. For just 500 Baht and up, you can get drone photos and videos taken of you and share to your instagram. You are on a boat in the middle of an oasis of lily pads and a drone flies over your head, you have to be quick to strike a pose. The cafe offers meals as well, but in my opinion the food was not the best in comparison to the food we ate at other locations. I was honestly just there for the aesthetics and photo opps.
Big Buddha
Please note this is spiritual grounds, be respectful and be mindful of your outfit choice for this day. Cover up, dress modest, and wear flats or sneakers because you will be doing a lot of walking. The guards at the front will direct you to get a scarf for sale if you are not appropriately dressed. The Big Buddha offered panoramic views of Phuket and a sense of spiritual serenity. The intricate details of the statue, standing at 45 meters tall, were awe-inspiring. The surrounding temple grounds provided a peaceful retreat, allowing us to reflect on the beauty of Thai culture. This is a hot spot for tourists it does get crowded just be aware of your surroundings and enjoy the beauty the statue brings.
Swimming with the Elephants
After learning that the elephants are maltreated and we are not supposed to be on their backs, I was hesistant to go. I know there are sanctuaries that take care of their elephants, however we already booked the excursion to the swim with the elephants at the beach. The elephants are trained very well and the trainers will tell the elephants to splash you, smack your butt with their trunk, or give you a kiss. The area in the water where the “swimming” takes place, is not that sanitary becuase the same water you take pictures with the elephants is where the elephants deficate. I personally was not too fond of this excursion but the photos came out super cute. Bare in mid the walk down and up from the beach is long and if you are not in any condition to walk that long and far think twice before booking. Whew chile, it was hot and tiresome.
Tiger Kingdom Phuket
Our next adventure took us to the Tiger Kingdom in Phuket, where we shared ooohs and awwws at the baby cubs. From playful cubs to the adults tigers, interacting with these cats up close was both exhilarating and humbling. It was an experience that left me with a appreciation for wildlife. I was extremely nervous to take pictures with the tigers. Once I learned the tigers were sedated and the trainers are there to ensure you are okay, I calmed down. I enjoyed taking pictures with the tigers more than the elephants to be honest.
Yacht Day - Shades of Brown
Jewel celebrated her birthday on the Yacht with balloons and a chef. The theme was for everyone to wear bathing suits in shades of brown because her last name is Brown which was such a cute idea. Unfortunately on this day was not feeling well at all. I was coming down with a cold due to the tropical weather and going in and out of the water. I got to take some really cute photos and even ride the jet ski. I recommend adding a yacht day to your birthday trip itinerary becuase it’s all about the experience. Popping champagne in the middle of the ocean is always a grand time!
Day Trip to Phi Phi Islands
We were originally supposed to spend 2 nights in Phi Phi Islands but changed the plan to take a day trip instead. We were greeted by coach bus driver that took us the marina where the boats were docked to carry us to Phi Phi Islands. We took the fastest speed boat to the islands and the the waves were too much I was literally scared the entire time. When we arrived we went to Monkey Beach where the monkeys were scattered all over the beach. They were cute but the staff inormed us not to bring anything off of the boats on to the beack because the monkies will attack and some people did not listen. They brought their items onto the beach and of course there were a few tussles with the mokeys. LOL it was scary because they were small but vicous.
Maya Beach Club
We visited Maya Beach club on our first day of the trip where we had lunch. This beach club is cool and hip to the Afrobeats. The drinks were so cute, we rented cabanas on the beach but the waves were crashing into the shore so strongly that the cabanas were getting wet. I took the cutest photos at the beach club that I never posted of course. But overall if you are looking for a fun daytime activity that is chill, check out this spot. We heard at night it is really live and I believe they star serving hookah after 5:00pm, however hookah or no hookah this beach club is great for photos and a lovely day at the beach.
Visit Patong Beach at night - Sugar Club Phuket (Afrobeats nights on Thursdays)
We partied at Sugar nightclub from the very first night and each night we visited it was a vibe. We did visit another club on the strip but our favorite nightclub on the island was Sugar due to the Afrobeats they played. Being that we were a group of all Africans who listen to Afrobeats it was only right to enjoy a spot that catered music to us. The memories created on the dance floor and on the stage (iykyk) will be remembered for a lifetime.
Bonus: Ride a Tuk Tuk in Patong Beach to one of your destinations and get Henna Tattoos at the beach.
As our Thai adventure came to an end, I was sad to go but a time was had in this tropical paradise. Thailand had given us more than memories! I cannot wait to travel back and this time to Bangkock.
Sawadee Krap, Thailand! Your beauty, warmth, and hospitality will be eternally cherished in our hearts.

Ways to Make the Most of a Long Layover
Ways to Make the Most of a Long Layover https://kimjanese.com/ways-to-make-the-most-of-a-long-layover/ Air travel can be both exhilarating and exhausting. While the promise of reaching distant shores or returning home is always exciting, long layovers can often be a dampener. Hours spent in an unfamiliar airport can seem endless, making travelers anxious and weary. However, a lengthy layover doesn’t always have to be a dreaded part of your journey. With some creativity and planning, it can become an opportunity – a bonus trip within a trip. Whether exploring a new city, indulging in local cuisine, or simply relaxing and rejuvenating, there are numerous ways to make the most of that extended wait between flights.   Layovers, an inevitable part of many international flights, are built-in breaks between connecting flights. They can result from airline routing, budgetary considerations, or the unavailability of direct flights. Historically, layovers were seen as inconvenient pauses, causing interruptions in the rhythm of travel. But with the modernization of airports, growth in amenities, and easier access to city centers, they are increasingly being viewed as opportunities. Many travelers even intentionally opt for long layovers to squeeze in a mini-vacation or break the monotony of extended flights. Explore the City One of the most fulfilling ways to use a long layover is exiting the airport and exploring the city. Many major airports are well-connected to the city center by fast public transportation, making it feasible for travelers to get a taste of the locale. Before beginning your mini-adventure, ensure you know the country’s visa requirements. Some cities even offer free transit tours for travelers with long layovers. For instance, if you’re at Incheon Airport in Seoul, you can sign up for a free transit tour, which ranges from a quick city tour to a visit to historical palaces. Pack a small day bag with essentials and leave your luggage in airport storage. Remember to factor in the time you’ll need to return, clear security, and board your next flight. Pamper Yourself  Airports, especially the larger ones, have transformed into mini-cities offering many services. For those not keen on venturing out, consider indulging in some self-care. Many airports boast spa services where travelers can get a massage, facial, or refreshing shower. Lounge access is another luxurious option. While traditionally reserved for first or business-class travelers, many lounges now allow free entry. These spaces provide comfortable seating, complimentary food and drinks, Wi-Fi, and sometimes even sleeping pods. If shopping is therapeutic for you, explore the duty-free shops. From high-end brands to local souvenirs, various shopping options are available. Engage in Leisure and Learning Long layovers are the perfect opportunity to catch up on reading, watch that movie you’ve missed, or even learn about the place you’re in. Some airports, like Singapore’s Changi, have movie theaters showing films for free. Others, like Portland’s PDX, offer local art exhibits and mini-museums. Consider downloading a language app and picking up some basic phrases from the country you’re visiting. Alternatively, pen down your travel experiences in a journal or blog. For those traveling with kids, many airports have play areas designed to keep children entertained and active. While long layovers might seem like tedious pauses in a journey, they hold the potential to be experienced in their own right. Whether you’re an intrepid explorer, a leisure seeker, or someone looking to learn and engage, there are myriad ways to make these hours count. The key lies in shifting one’s perspective from viewing layovers as delays to seeing them as opportunities. With a dash of planning and an open mind, you can transform any layover, long or short, into a cherished part of your travel tapestry.   The post Ways to Make the Most of a Long Layover first appeared on Kim Janese | Travel.

Maximising Comfort: Tips for an Enjoyable Overnight Airport Stay
Air travel has undoubtedly made the world a more accessible place, allowing us to travel across continents in a matter of hours. However, this convenience often comes at the cost of overnight layovers or early morning flights, leaving us facing the prospect of spending the night at the airport. While the idea of sleeping in an airport may not sound appealing, with the right approach and a few savvy tips, you can turn your overnight airport stay into a surprisingly comfortable experience.
How can you make your airport stay convenient?
1. Research Your Airport
First things first, research is key. Not all airports are created equal when it comes to overnight stays. Some airports are well-equipped with comfortable lounges, airport hotels, sleeping pods, and quiet zones, while others may have limited options. Check the airport's website or travel forums to learn about the available facilities and services. Knowing what to expect can make a significant difference in your comfort level.
2. Book a Lounge Access
Airport lounges are a haven of comfort and convenience. They typically offer comfortable seating, complimentary refreshments, Wi-Fi, and often even showers. If you have a long layover, consider purchasing a lounge pass. Many lounges offer single-entry passes that can be a cost-effective way to enjoy the amenities and get a good night's rest.
3. Pack a Travel Sleep Kit
Creating your own travel sleep kit can be a game-changer. Include essentials like an eye mask, earplugs, a travel pillow, and a cosy blanket or shawl. These items can help you create a sleep-friendly environment amidst the airport hustle and bustle. Inflatable travel pillows, in particular, are portable and can provide decent neck support.
4. Dress Comfortably
Choosing the right attire is crucial for a comfortable airport stay. Opt for loose-fitting, breathable clothing and layers you can easily adjust to accommodate changing temperatures. Comfortable slip-on shoes are also a smart choice, as you might need to navigate the airport during the night.
5. Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Dehydration can affect your comfort and sleep quality. Carry an empty reusable water bottle through security and fill it up before settling down for the night. As for food, it's wise to have some snacks on hand to curb hunger pangs. Healthy options like nuts, granola bars, and fruit can keep you satisfied.
6. Explore Quiet Corners
Airports are vast, and some corners are quieter than others. Wander around to find a less crowded area with comfortable seating. Look for benches with armrests you can stretch out on or reclining chairs if available. Many airports have designated quiet zones where talking and phone use are discouraged, creating a more peaceful atmosphere.
7. Stay Secure
Security is a top priority when sleeping in public places. Keep your belongings close and secure at all times. Consider using a cable lock to secure your luggage to a fixed structure, making it more difficult for anyone to snatch and run.
In conclusion, while spending the night at the airport may not be your first choice, it can be a manageable and even enjoyable experience with a little preparation. By proper planning, you can maximise your overnight stay and arrive at your destination well-rested and ready for your next adventure.
