Standing above your city, you looked down at the passing small cars and pedestrians. Each of them had their own story, and you wondered how they were doing. If they were going through what you were going through.
Each thought brought you closer to the edge of the abyss than you were already. The wind tried to blow you back as if to save you from your actions.
However, why should you be saved? Your parents were killed by a villain, and you spent your entire life trying to make them happy. But they had vanished, as had your motivation. You had no one else to love you the way they did.
You missed them so dearly that all you wanted to do was go and see them.
After reaching an acceptance, you lifted your foot off the cement, ready to free fall into peace.
“Are you alright?” You heard a man's voice come from behind you.
You turn around to see the same man dressed entirely in white. He was wrapped in cloth and wore what appeared to be body armor on parts of his body. A golden crest adorned the center of his chest. In addition to his costume, his mask featured two white glowing orbs.
“If I was, I wouldn’t be thinking about jumping off,” you say. He nods, admitting his obvious question.
Without much thought, you look back to the edge and lift your foot up once again.
He extends his hand immediately as a deterrent to you continuing. "Wait, I know you might feel like there's nothing else to live for; believe me, I've felt that way before. But how will you know that the finish line was a better end if you just stop here?"
You keep quiet and just observe him. The wind howls, as if to say, take his hand and listen to what this man has to say. It wasn't what he said that made you reconsider, but rather how he attempted to save you. Why you?
You step off the ledge and take a step toward him. You can see him almost breathe out in relief.
His mask vanishes, and you are startled before seeing a man with dark brown curly hair and tanned skin. He appears firm, but his eyes convey kindness.
You reach out to him and take his hand in yours.
—-----
It was the middle of winter and spring four years later. The cold and plush feel of the sheets was incredible. The blanket on top of them kept you close and let you know you were safe.
However, a masculine voice broke all that peace. A well-known one at that.
“Hey, wake up”
The sound of metal rubbing against metal indicated that the curtains were being pulled apart, signaling the end of your comfort. You drew the blanket up to shield your face from the sun's rays.
It was immediately pulled down, and your body balled into a fetal position as the winter cold engulfed you. As you slowly opened your eyes, you noticed Marc holding your blanket away from you. As the drowsiness faded, you reached out an arm to reclaim it, but he yanked it away.
"I know the bed is comfortable, but it's time to go, kid." Marc draped the blanket over the bedframe. He then exited the small room and entered the main part of the apartment.
You sat up slowly, your bones cracking as you did so. You looked out the window, blinking away the sleepiness, to see the day was sunny but cold.
Groaning, you stood up and walked out of your room. You slowly shuffled towards Gus’s tank, grabbing the small plastic can of fish food.
“Already fed them,” a chipper voice was heard.
Looking through the fish tank to the kitchen, you noticed Steven preparing something on the stove. Giving a quick hum, you placed the food back on top of the tank.
“Morning to you, Gus," you said as you lightly tapped the glass of the tank.
You walked to the kitchen to catch a scent of what Steven was cooking.
"Good morning, you three." You sat at the table, awaiting breakfast.
Steven approached you, carrying a plate of vegan sausage and eggs with toast. "Eat up, you and Marc are-”
"Are we going to patrol again? But it's light out and people are walking around," you said as you picked up a piece of vegan meat from the plate with a fork.
"The guys who were trying to catch only happen to come out during the day. So you'll be bait," Marc clarified as he sat down and started eating from his plate.
“Like always,” You grumbled
You guys continued to eat your breakfast before getting ready to start your days.
You tried looking for the location that Marc mentioned earlier for today's small mission while walking side by side through the streets of London. Even though it was later, the cold was still with you two, so you wore two layers of clothing.
Shivering, you pulled the collar of your hoodie up to your chin to get warmth. “So who is it we’re trying to stop?”
"A group has been kidnapping people for human trafficking," Marc says before motioning to a table with two seats in front of a cafe.
You two sat at the table, puzzled as to why you were there.
"That's bad. And a coffee break?" As you leaned back in your chair, you said
Marc shakes his head and motions to a building under construction. It was surrounded by a green fence and a large tarp sign with the name of the construction company.
"That's where they're meeting; for now, we'll just wait for them to turn up." Marc reclines in his metal chair.
A waitress approaches and starts asking about your orders. Marc takes the lead as he examines the menu. Meanwhile, you're too preoccupied with looking behind Marc.
Behind him was a table filled with students your age. Each of them had a drink in front of them, and one of them appeared to make a joke based on the way everyone began to laugh.
You couldn't help but be envious of the scene. You were young but mature enough to attend college. However, you were unable to attend one due to a number of factors. As a result, you found it difficult to make friends or socialize with people your own age. Instead, you were with Marc, fighting bad guys.
A voice sounding muffled slowly became clear and snapped you back into reality, “Y/N”
Blinking in realization, you saw Marc and the waitress staring at you, waiting.
"What do you want, kid?" Marc inquired, sounding less annoyed and more patient.
"Oh, I'll just get some matcha tea." You looked up at the waitress for confirmation, and she nodded and walked away.
You two sat in silence, your gaze fixed on the group. Marc noticed as well after following your eyes.
“Anything on your mind?” He turned back to you.
You slightly jumped at how Marc was able to notice you in deep thought, “Nothing really…..actually there is something I’ve been meaning to ask you”
Marc raised a brow and asked, “What is it?”
You shrank, not expecting to be able to speak, and said, "Uh, so I was wondering if I could go back to school..."
Marc stared at you and said, “College?”
You nodded, and the waitress returned with your drinks before you could explain further. You two exchanged an awkward smile before she asked if that was all. She returned to the cafe with just a nod from you two.
“How long have you been thinking about it?” Marc questions that once you two are alone again,
"For a while now," you cross your arms and lean back, your gaze fixed on the road and passing cars.the street and passing cars. "I was thinking I could fit it in on days when you don't need me and I'm stuck at home all day."
You say the last part with annoyance, which Marc notices.
Marc sighs, “Y/N…”
"I know you say that being out in public makes it easy for bad people to find me, but I guarantee you that I can handle myself." You put your elbows on the table to get closer to Marc so he can listen better.
“Y/N”
“I won’t get too many classes!”
“Y/N”
"I'll even stay late to patrol with you guys, and-"
“No!” Marc raises his voice.
You don't mind that a few people in the cafe are now staring at you two. You look down at your untouched cup of matcha, angry rather than sad. Marc sighs, running his hand through his hair.
"We can't risk problems like that; college might make things worse, and you won't be able to handle it on your own if something goes wrong," Marc declares.
You remain silent and stare down at your cup. Marc looks at you, his lips pursed in guilt. He tries to think of ways to break the tension, but nothing comes to mind.
A few cars speed up but then slow down to turn around in front of the previous building. Two men enter and take a look around before closing the gate to the entrance.
"Are you ready to go?" Marc casts a glance your way, but you avoid his sights.
"Please, just—...  We'll finish this job and then talk about college, okay?" Marc nearly begged.
Looking back up, you made eye contact, thinking about it before nodding, “Okay”
After going over the plan again, you were sent to speak to the group. A few men stood guard by the gate, watching you as you approached. "Hey, I believe I was told to come here?" You looked around and pointed to your phone.
"Another way she's getting people in?" one of the men asks the other.
"She?" You thought to yourself, "This is the first time I hear a girl is leading shit."
“Yeah, follow us” the man finally says and the gate opens, letting you two in.
You look behind you to see if Marc is nearby, but he isn't. You already know he's hiding and trust that he'll be there every step of the way, but being alone for this part is terrifying.
They lead you to the first floor of the unfinished structure. Because it isn't built, the walls aren't there, allowing the wind to blow inside. It is detrimental to your body's temperature.
Looking around, there are a few wooden tables with guns on top of them. It was clear that the group didn't care that it was out in the open.
When they notice you looking at the weapons, they zip tie your hands together without a warning. You struggle to pull your hands apart. The friction you create against the plastic causes your wrist to burn.
“What the fuck?! Get these off!” You give your best acting.
"Shut up, you guys always yell too loud and it's making me deaf," grunts the man. "Let her know that we have another one."
A man nods and walks away. The man walks towards you, pulling a chair to himself and sitting on it backwards.
“Well get comfortable, because it’ll be the-“
"Will this be the last time?" You scoff, shaking your head. You didn't care if it messed up the plan; you were still irritated with Marc.
"You guys just don't know how to make conversation." you moan
"Looks like you're not scared anymore," the man says with a small laugh. "Can you tell me your name, kid?"
"Ew, don't call me a kid, and why does it matter what my name is? You're just going to change it, or however human trafficking works."
This time, the man laugh loudly, "Human trafficking?! That has nothing to do with what we plan to do."
A group walks in on cue, and a woman holds a long object wrapped in cloth. “We found it! Call Vanessa!”
You take a look around and notice how pleased everyone is with the info they have got. You're curious on what everyone is so excited about. Another woman walks in, her ginger hair tied in a tight ponytail. She's dressed in a dark green tank top, cargo pants, and combat boots. The thing is, she's your age.
At this point, it is obvious who is the leader of the whole situation and who they call Vanessa.
She walks by and glances at you and asks, “How many do we have now?”
“About 14, you think that’s enough?” The man from before stands up from the chair.
“We’ll see” Vanessa grabs the object and begins to unwrap it.
You concentrate on the mystery item because some of the colors show through each time the cloth is unwrapped. Your eyes then widen with each repetition.
Unwrapped, Vanessa holds up a cane. A cane with a crocodile head on top.
You recall Steven telling you about a fight he and Marc had with a man named Harrow. With the assistance of a goddess named Ammit, he used a cane similar to the one now in use to murder people.
Marc assured you that it had been destroyed and that you were safe, but are you still safe?
The way the two explained the power it possessed scared you. Jake, on the other hand, terrified you with his explanation of the world's future if it returned.
“Bring them to me, we’ll test it out” Vanessa says as she grips the cane.
You blink and realize what is about to happen. Two men lift you up and drag you towards Vanessa.
“Get off!” You try to get away from their grip but they tighten their hold. You search up and around the place, hoping Marc or Steven is there.
Vanessa brings the top of the cane towards your face. You move your head back to escape, but Vanessa keeps drawing it closer.
Marc nor Steven nor Jake were seen. Since they were taking long, you acted on your own.
You use your right hand to pull out the pocket knife you're carrying. You take out the blade and force it through the loop of the zip tie on the plastic. With your hands free, you flip the knife around and aim it at one of the guys' thigh. You slam it into their femur, eliciting a scream from the man.
Both men lose their grip and you stand up, swinging the knife at the other man’s throat. As they back away, more come.
Vanessa glares at you before she tries to use the cane. It starts to glow and you back up into a corner. Theres nowhere to go as the rest of the group surrounds you.
Before Vanessa could send you flying, Marc comes in and side-kicks her down. The cane clatters to the floor and skids across the room.
She lifts herself up and looks at Marc with hatred, "Its you"
Looking at Marc in his suit, he swings left and right at the men. A few members of the group appear from behind you while he is busy. You duck the punches with your knife in hand and target specific areas of their body with the blade.
With the last one dropping to the floor, you catch your breath and look over to see Marc still fighting. To your right is a woman shooting at him but of course not working. Still, it is throwing Marc off course as he fights.
You rush up to her, wrapping your arm around her neck and stabbing her in the stomach. As her body falls limp, she drops the gun to the floor.
Marc notices and finishes off the last man before walking to you.
“Let’s go” He says harshly
“They have the cane, we could get it back” You gesture to where the cane is.
“Let’s go!”
You both go quiet as you hear a loud buzzing sound. As if something is powering up. Turning around, you see Vanessa pointing the cane towards you two, a purple light glowing brighter and brighter.
Not hesitating, Marc picks you up before running out of the building and flies off the ground. A blast passes you two just missing by a bit.
Vanessa glares at you two as you make a break for it.
“Get more ready” she commands the last of her team standing, “He’s going to come back for this”
She holds the cane tightly in her hand, the metal crocodile shining from its polished material.
——
Marc set you down at the apartment after you kicked and squirmed in his grasp. His suit vanished, and he began to walk away from you, hands on his hips, looking down.
"I told you to stick to the plan," he said, his voice deep within his throat. You can almost feel the lingering anger from it.
"I did, but as you saw back there, I was almost killed!" you scrunch up your face as you set your sweater down and sit on the couch. "And I did just fine on my own," you crossed your arms and turned your gaze away from him.
"Really?" he scoffs, "Because it looked like you were being cornered back there, with what? A knife?" He mocked
You try to get a word in but right now Marc is blowing up, “You straight up ignored what I asked of you and almost got yourself killed!”
“But I didn’t,” you say firmly, looking straight into his eyes.
Marc bites his cheek and shakes his head, “You can forget about college”
“What?!” You stand up from the couch.
"You heard me, if I can't trust you to follow a simple plan, how can I trust you to go somewhere as simple as class?"
"Oh, so just because I decided to stand up for myself, you don’t trust me anymore?”
You raised your eyebrows at him, and you both glared at each other. Steven could feel the tension rising and knew things were about to get out of hand. He made the decision to take control of the body right away.
Marc’s composure became timid and soft, and you knew why. Looking up at Steven, he gave a small, one sided smile.
“How about we cool off shall we?” He patted you on the shoulder and began to walk to the kitchen, “Ill make us lunch alright? How does that sound?”
He turned to you with a grin but you stared down to the floor and mumbled, “Im not hungry”
From there, you marched up to your room and shut the door.
“You two could have just talked it through,” Steven sighed.
Jake hummed in response, while Marc stayed quiet.
“You guys might not be related but you sure act like father and daughter”
-
You sat on your bed, your gaze fixed on the wall across from you. There were a few posters and wall decorations, such as shelves with figurines, but directly across from you was a picture of you and Marc at a lake. Jake was cooking kebabs on the grill in the picture next to it. Another picture of you with Steven and Layla.
Just one mistake, and now you've lost the chance to get a normal sense of life. Lost the ability to make friends. Lost the ability to experience so many things all together.
As your thoughts ate you up, you felt a burst of wind. Soon after Khonshu was sitting at your desk that was in the corner of your room. He held his staff and looked at you, waiting for you to acknowledge his presence.
“Why are you here?” You said annoyed.
“I came to see if you might have been climbing through the window again.” He set the staff down, making it lean on the wall.
“You know about me sneaking out?”
“Yes, but don’t worry, I haven’t told your three fathers out there.” He slightly chuckled.
Your face scrunched up, “Don’t say that, you’ll probably jinx it”
After that, there was silence, and Khonshu exhaled, "They're just trying to protect you, especially Marc." They all do care about you”
“If they did care about me, they wouldn’t keep me locked up here,” you say, looking over to the window, seeing how it's still sunny out there.
Khonshu hesitates before continuing “...I know I shouldn’t say this but the reason why he has been keeping you safe is because he sees his younger brother in you”
“He has a brother?”
“Had” he clarifies.
"Marc blames himself for his death and never forgave himself, despite the fact that he was only a child," Khonshu continues. "Perhaps that's why he wants to protect you and heal that wound."
You wrapped your head around what he said and only got angrier, “...So the real reason he kept me around was to use me as some kind of therapy?”
Khonshu paused, “That isnt’t what I said”
“Well thats what it sounds like” you laugh and run your hands through your hair. You stand up from your bed and grab your other hoodie from your dresser and walk to the window.
“Where are you going?” Khonshu stands up, grabbing his staff in the process.
“Just– leave me alone” After you open the window and climb out onto the fire escape.
You descend the escape and walk to the place where you go to be alone. It’s a 20 minute walk from the flat but it’s worth it. It is an abandoned building with a stable flight of stairs leading to an open area with views of London. You walk over to the edge and sit, allowing your legs to dangle. Normally, you do this at night, but because the sun is shining, all you can do is stare at the sky and think.
-
As night falls, you can hear heavy footsteps ascending. When you turn your head, you see Marc in his white suit. His mask falls away, and you can see a sense of relief wash over him. His chest heaves as if he's just flown all over town looking for you. That he did.
You begin to stand up and he rushes towards you. He examines your face to see if your fine and then brings you into a hug.
“What the hell, you don’t just run off like that without telling me or sending me a text” he breathes out.
It would have been nice, but remembering what Khonshu said makes the embrace seem insincere. He was hugging his brother instead of you. You push him away, and he is taken aback but maintains his distance.
“Im tired, and I just want an explanation…” you finally say
Marc nods and asks, “Is it about college? Is that why you left?”
"Part of it” You breathe out, "But that’s not what I wanted to talk about”
“Then what is it?”
You take a moment to find the words but they aren’t hard to find. This makes Marc nervous though.
“Why did you save me?”
It went quiet, Marc looked at you confused, “What?”
“Back when we met, I was going to jump off that building, but you came and talked me out of it.” You hold your ground as you stare at him.
Marc stays quiet and you take that chance to continue talking, “I was supposed to die that day, I already had no plans for my life so I was ready. Instead, you came and saved me, why?”
“…I couldn’t just let you throw your life like that“
You scoffed, “Then tell me it was for me and not your brother”
Marc’s eyes widened and his jaw clenched, “Khonshu told you about my brother?”
You nodded, “So that’s why you saved me? To get closure or something?”
“No, Y/N I-“
“Then what?! Why was I so different that you had to save me?!” you said impatiently.
This time, you shoved him back. He stumbled but stayed on his feet.
“I’m now stuck here dealing with the bad part of the world again! I can’t even make friends because you think I’ll get hurt! And I have to live with hiding from everyone and everything, because of you!”
You try to shove him again, but Marc grabs your hands and pulls them away from you. He was hurt, but discovering the cane was back and failing to stop it was drowning it out. He didn't mean to say what he was about to say.
"Well, I couldn't just let you jump off and end up being a flat piece of meat! What?! Did you want to be another name on the list of people who couldn't deal with life anymore?!"
Taken aback, you step back. Marc notices what he said and closes his eyes in regret, “Kid, I didn’t mean to say that”
“…I should have jumped off faster,” you finally say, “I wish we had never fucking met”
Marc's lips part slightly and only stares at you. He forgets about earlier today and is only focused on you. How there are tears falling from your eyes when they only come out when you two are watching a sad movie. How you are angry when that only happens when you lose at Mario Kart. All these innocent reasons were out of the picture because he had said something he shouldn’t have.
“Y/N..” he reaches out to you but you slap his hand away.
"Don't fucking touch me," your words sting and tense Marc.
You walk past him and walk down the stairs, wiping all the tears with the sleeve of your sweater. Meanwhile Marc stays frozen in the same spot.
-
It’s been two weeks since your argument with Marc. Steven and Jake have taken turns in taking care of you since Marc decided to go AWOL.
He didn't do it because he wanted to; he did it because he knew you despised him. Despised him for never telling you the whole truth about your saving. But most importantly, for insulting your feelings.
The real reason you were angry with him wasn’t that he saved you. It was because he didn’t save you for you.
You were actually angry with him the first week. You didn't want to deal with him. You purposefully ignored him for the first week, only calling out to the other alters. When this happened, Steven and Jake felt terrible and looked at Marc, who only hid.
However, by the second week, all of that rage had vanished. You were no longer angry with him; instead, you missed him. You wanted to apologize, but you assumed he despised you because of the harsh words you used.
It was now raining and cold. It was like Mother Nature knew you were feeling gloomy and wanted to make it worse. You climbed out of bed and looked outside to the storm that was passing through. You frowned and turned to the door of your room.
You peeked to what was the rest of the apartment. It was quiet with only the bubbles from the fish tank bubbling and the rain hitting the roof. The boys weren’t here which left only you in the flat. You walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge to see if there was anything to eat.
Failing to do so, you shut the fridge door and turned to see a yellow lined sheet of paper on the dining table.
Taking a closer look, it looked like Marc’s handwriting.
Knowing it was from him reminded you again of how much you missed him and his company. You were regretting ever trying to argue with him. If you hadn’t, he would have shared breakfast time with you like every other morning.
Hey, we went to find the cane. Well, be right back. Steven made some vegan stuff and left it on the stove. Please eat.
Even though it was just writing, you can tell Marc was hesitant in starting the note and felt like he was on thin ice. He was probably convinced by the other two to write.
It is delicious! I recommend heating on the stove instead of microwaving. Eat! You need strength! Also, we have news for you when we come back :)
You smiled at how Steven was so cheerful. You were honestly excited about what they had to say. Hopefully it meant you and Marc can stop going through silent treatment.
Cuídate mija, don’t open the door for anyone. My card is on the bed if you don’t want to eat Steven's cooking ;)
You almost laughed knowing it was Jake, he always loved bullying the other two. Getting to the last part, you notice how it switched to Marc’s handwriting again.
We’ll be back soon.
Love From,
Marc, Steven, and Jake
You stared at how the word "love" was crossed out and wondered if Marc was the one who thought of it or if the others did. Either way, it moved you and you felt even worse about yelling at Marc.
You fold the note and put in the pocket of your sweatpants. Going to the fridge, you grab the pot of pasta and walk over to the stove. You heat it over the flame and wait for it boil.
In the meantime, you return to your room. You stoop to the level of your bed and place your hand beneath it. You move your hand around mindlessly until it comes into contact with a small box.
Pulling it out, you open it two see two blunts with a lighter inside. Once you take out both the lighter and a blunt, you make your way to the nearest window.
Taking a look at the lighter, you examine the almost peeling moon sticker on it. It was from a sheet that you saw at the market when you went with Marc for groceries a while back
You slipped it into the basket before he noticed it in the line. All he did was simply look at it and give a small chuckle, glancing at you before putting it with the rest of the items.
You smiled as you inserted the blunt between your teeth and lit the end with your lighter. You inhaled deeply and exhaled the smoke out the window and into the world. Notifying everyone who passes by that you are high at the moment.
The soothing patter of the rain put you in a pondering state. Wondering if you can handle another two months of not speaking to Marc again.
Actually you couldn’t, and you didn’t want to.
You didn’t want to give him the silent treatment anymore and you wanted to apologize. Apologize for not having a civil conversation which turned to a yelling battle.
You thought of the choice of words for Marc and how to repay him for the damage that was done.
Letting out another breath of smoke, you came to a closing.
“Hope you aren’t angry with me” you sigh and put out the blunt.
—————
A Few Hours Earlier
—————
In his Moon Knight suit, Marc was jumping from building to building trying to find the new hiding spot of the group. The storm made it almost difficult to see any suspicious buildings in sight. However, they weren’t even in his mind right now.
“Mate, I think it’s time to talk about Y/N”
“Yes, I think you two should talk when we come back”
“I know,” Marc continued staring straight ahead, “I just don’t know how to apologize. They probably hate me”
“They don’t hate you, they idolize you”
“They do?”
“Of course, that move they did back at the hideout was yours. They have been watching you anytime you go and fight”
Marc maintains his silence but can't help but smile. This time it hits him how much he misses you as well. He misses being able to tell you about his day. Your movie nights and Nintendo tournaments. For you, he’ll do anything to make it up to you.
“…I’ll talk to them when we’re done with this,” he says.
Steven and Jake smile, “Then let’s get this done quickly”
Marc continues running on top of the roofs until he stops and sees a building with purple flowing out of the windows.
“That’s them”
Marc stands on the edge of a nearby building and examines each room, trying to find where the so called Vannessa is at.
“There”
Marc looks over to one window and sees Vanessa talking to some group members. In another window he can see the cane on a table unprotected.
Marc gets off the building and jumps into one of the windows closest to the cane. With the breaking of glass, everyone in the building is now alerted but Marc can take them.
That is until he feels his power begin to leak out of his body. Confused he looks to his hands and sees how his suit is starting to disappear to where soon he is just in his casual clothes. Looking around, he sees the group corner him with guns drawn. He doesn’t move a muscle and only raises his hands up to show surrender. Soon Vanessa makes her way in and stares at Marc.
"I don't have a good feeling about this"
“Took you long enough. Got lost?” She said snarkily, “Oh wait, I forgot you're an ex-marine right?”
She then looks over to one of the men and gestures her head to Marc, “In the leg”
Before Marc can understand, a shotgun is loaded, soon aimed, and a bullet is fired at his thigh. Marc lets out a scream of pain and drops to his knees, holding the wound. Two men rush in and hold him against the wall.
"Marc!"
"Let me take control!"
Marc tries to get out of their grip, but with the pain in his leg throbbing, he feels his senses leaving.
Vanessa makes her way to him and crouches down to his level, looking into his eyes.
“To cut it quick, remember how that red witch controlled that small town? Well it turns out she had a barrier going on, so I said why not I do it too. Point A you crossed and point B you are now powerless and,”
Vanessa takes out a blade and lodges it into Marc’s other thigh, which causes him to groan in pain, but he continues to look at her.
“Mortal. Oh, and I know about your weird alter, Jack? Jake? I don’t fucking know, but I know he’s a pain in the ass but with no mobility, he’s nothing”
"Hija del reputa madre"
Marc glares at her and stays quiet.
“Aren’t you wondering why I’m being a bitch to you?”
“Well when you see a bitch you’ll expect them to be a bitch” Marc remarks which causes Vanessa to land a punch on his face.
“Funny. You’re not going to be laughing soon. Do you know who I am?”
Marc huffs and just shrugs, “Why don’t you just tell me and get this over with”
Vanessa lands him another punch and this time Marc is now bleeding from his nose.
“Switzerland. You were there looking for the scarab, and my father,” Vanessa stabs Marc once again in the thigh, “was there and you killed him. For what? For trying to make the world a better place?”
Marc doesn’t say anything but just glares at her. Vanessa scoffs and gets up, walking to another table.
“Tourniquet his legs” is all she says before grabbing a bat. A woman does what she says and ties a rope above Marc’s wound.
Everyone watches Vanessa’s moves, awaiting for next command. She turns to him and winds her elbow back before landing a blow to Marc's head.
——
The rain was still going, which is what lulled you into sleep. You were laying on the couch with an arm covering half your face. The blunt might have also been part of the equation in your slumber.
The coffee table was a mess before but now an even bigger mess with the bowl of food that Steven made being on there with the fork inside. Next to it was your ashtray which had what was left of your blunt.
You felt at peace before you heard urgent knocking at the door. Slowly opening your eyes, you sit up and hear your bones crack from being asleep.
Walking over to the door, you check the peephole and see Layla still knocking.
You open the door, and Layla looks at you a tad disappointed, "Hey, what’s up?”
“Can I come in? It’s urgent” She points to the inside of the apartment which you nod and let her in.
“Jesus, was that you?” Layla coughs and waves her hand to get the smoke that fills the room away.
“Uh, maybe. Anyway, what happened? You’re never this freaked out”
Layla bites her cheek, “Have you heard from Marc? Steven? Jake? Any of them?”
You blink, “Not as of lately, all I got was a note from them saying they were going to find the cane”
“Yeah, the last text I got was him saying he found the hideout, but I haven’t gotten a response.” Layla pulls out her phone.
She shows you the last message from him, which was about 5 hours ago. Usually Marc would need less than that to complete a job.
“Maybe things got heavy, they’re probably on their way now.” You try to reason, but in reality, you begin to worry.
“If they were, I would be able to see their location but it’s off. I have a bad feeling something might have happened” Layla's face is tense and she doesn't appear to be able to relax.
Usually Layla was the one who was the calmest amongst the trio. So whatever it was that happened must be bad.
“What do we do?” You cross your arms.
Layla fidgets with her wedding ring as she looks down, “I-I don’t know”
All you do is stare at Layla and try to think. The boys were always the brains in this sort of thing, all you did was follow. What would they do?
You can probably retrace your steps, but again, you have been missing out on all the meetings ever since you claimed your hatred for the side missions.
A blast of wind comes and blows away all the pages that were on the coffee table. You and Layla turn to the noise and see Khonshu. However, he looks rough and stressed. Having both of the ofthe group who always calm now stressed was odd and almost a bad omen. He doesn’t waste any time before he starts.
“They’re in trouble, the group created a barrier which caused me to unlatch from them”
“What?” You say with disbelief.
“There’s no time! They are in grave danger and need help!”He bangs his staff on the ground to get the message across.
You feel your heart begin to beat rapidly. You’re almost frozen by the news that they're in danger. They have saved you countless of times so it would make sense to repay the debt.
“Take me,” you say and Layla looks at you shocked.
She grabs onto your shoulders, “Y/N, no. We have to go together, we don’t know what they are capable of”
“I can handle it on my own,” you say before removing her hands and holding them, “I’ll be fine, I’ll send you the address and you can meet us there”
You begin to walk to Khonshu which he does not hesitate to give you your own powers temporarily. You are quickly enveloped in a similar suit of the Moon Knight’s. If it was a normal situation, you would have gloated but today was different.
“Wait Y/N!” Layla calls out but you are gone. She looks around to think before she calls for an old friend.
——
All you can do is keep running, jumping from building to building. Nothing else is on your mind but the three men who have been by your side for the past few years.
“It’s right there!” Khonshu called out.
You looked down and see a building with a purple glow coming from inside the windows before it leaves. That must have been the barrier that was made to stop Marc and the others from having Khonshu by their side.
Khonshu immediately takes you to the building's entrance. It doesn’t take you long before you burst through the doors. The suit disappearing at the same time. You don’t let Khonshu explain to you how many there are or what they are capable of doing. All you want is to see Marc again and apologize for everything you've said. How you are glad that you met him.
You look around the first floor quickly to find signs of one of the boys being there but they aren’t. Rushing up the flight of stairs you find an open space with a few tables of a few weapons. You walk to one and grab a pistol. You check for bullets which thankfully it has a few.
You never learned to handle one before which leads you to grabbing a knife from there too. Once you look over your weapons, you hear a large thud coming from upstairs and grunting.
“Marc” You breath out and sprint up the stairs.
All that adrenaline begins to spread through your body. That is until you get to the top of the stairs.
The scene is horrifying. Your eyes widen and you feel the world go quiet, only your heartbeat can be heard banging through your ears. At first you thought it was your pulse going crazy.
Thud
It was just your pulse.
Thud
It was your pulse, thats what you kept telling yourself.
Thud
Marc received another blow to the head. He was helpless. He could only lie on his stomach and let blood drain from his nose and mouth. His left eye was purple and swollen. Red had now stained his dark brown curls.
All of this pain inflicting on him was coming from the red haired woman. Vanessa.
You're enraged, and you swear you see red. You point the gun at her, ready to fire, when one of the members notices you and tries to take the gun from you. You two fall to the ground while attempting, causing the gun to skid across the floor. You pull out your knife before he can get up. You swing it at the man horizontally. Making a cut at his neck.
Unfortunately, it is not deep enough.
When the other two members notice your presence, they tackle you. You try to push them off with all your strength, but they pin your arms behind your back. Their weight crushes you, causing your cheek to collide with the cold floor.
“Get the fuck off me!” You yell out.
The man who you cut wipes the blood off and glares at you. He immediately rushes to you and begins to kick you in your stomach, calling you a ‘bitch’. Before he can do more damage, another member holds him back.
“Hey! Hey! Thats enough!” Says the man as he tries to keep his friend from beating you.
You don’t care about the man though. All your attention is on the redhead. You have never felt so much anger as you do right now.
“You’re going to fucking die!” You growl.
She looks at you and cocks her head to the side, “It’s you from before”
You continue to glare at her before two other people come in. One man and one woman, they look at the scene before continuing on with Vanessa.
“Who’s that?” The man points at you.
The woman then adds, “How are they here? Why weren’t you on watch?”
The one with the cut on his neck yells, “I didn’t know he’d bring someone else!”
“Well thats enough, it won’t take long until people report a noise complaint” the man looks at Vannessa.
“You want what I want, right?” She grips the base of the bat as she stares at the man.
The man stays quiet and just says, “End it. Now”
Realizing what they said, you stop resisting and look over to Marc’s body. You look at him with pleading eyes and beg, “Guys, get up. Get up!”
Even though they are badly hurt, you can see the small shift between Steven and Jake. Jake, who tries to move but fails. Steven, who tries to reach out to you but can’t.
They soon give control to Marc. He tries his best to open his eyes and looks over at you. He mumbles your name, you’re the only thing he focuses on once again.
“Marc, fucking get up!” Your voice cracks.
You look back at Vanessa and now beg, “Please stop!”
She ignores you and winds her arm back, having a tight grip on the bat.
“Please don’t do this…” you sob, “Marc, please get up!”
Vanessa then brings the bat down and smashes it against Marc’s skull. Blood spilling more than there was.
“Nooo!” You yell out feeling your throat burn from forcing your vocal cords.
You sob as you stare at Marc’s lifeless body. The man who loved and protected you was no longer here. He was gone.
One of the members walk up to his body and spit on him, wishing him to be in hell. That same anger from before comes back up and you try to get up.
“I'll fucking kill you!” You keep repeating to them.
The members of the group began debating whether or not to kill you. However, as you stare at Marc, all of their voices become muffled. Your gaze then shifts to Vanessa, who drops the bat and turns to face you.
You remember her features. In fact, all of their features. Memorize them so they don't believe they are free. Keep them close by memorizing them. Remember them for Marc. Remember them for Steven. Remember them for Jake. It's for them.
You breathe heavily before one member comes to you and kicks you in the head to knock you out.
-
“Y/N” Layla softly calls out to you, shaking your body awake.
She is wearing her suit given to her by Tawaret. She was too late though.
You open your eyes slowly and mumble, “Are they…”
Layla looks down and nods, “I’m sorry”
-
Back at the apartment, you stayed sitting on their bed. What once used to be their bed. The sheets are still undone and you can still see where their head lay. They would have done the bed by now. There would be food being cooked right now. Instead, it was their funeral.
You fidget with the Star of David necklace that used to be theirs. Looking at it, remembering how it sat around their neck.
A knock comes from the door but you don’t try to get up. Usually it was one of them knocking, usually because they forgot their keys or wallet. But they aren’t here. The door didn’t matter.
It opens, and you can hear hesitant steps approaching you. Layla can be recognised by her heels clicking on the wooden floors. "Are you ready?" she asks, holding both hands over her stomach as she turns to face you.
Her voice is almost a whisper. She must have been crying all night.
“Yeah…” You look up at her and see you were right.
Her eyes were red and her face tear stained. Yet she tried to keep her composure for you. She wore a black slim dress with black heels. Her hair was tied in a low ponytail.
For you, all you had on was a black jacket, shirt, and jeans with black boots.
You two made your way outside the building to a taxi. Layla spoke to the driver while you remained silent and gazed out the window. You were numb because the world seemed numb to you.
Soon enough you got to the cemetery and saw a few people there. Not family but more of colleagues from his Egyptian work it seemed. You and Layla stayed close to his grave, watching as his coffin lowered inside. All you could do was think about his beaten face inside that coffin.
Once buried, everyone quickly left except you. You remained motionless, staring at the tombstone. You got down on your knees, grabbed a small pebble, and placed it on top of the stone, following a Jewish tradition you'd learned beforehand.
“I'm so sorry, I should have said that earlier. If only I did” you croaked.
After bidding farewell to last guests, Layla walked up behind you and put a hand on your shoulder, “When your ready”
"Um, I'll catch up to you. I just need more time," you say, looking up at her.
Layla gives a tight smile and nods, “Okay." She walks away, her steps fading away.
You breath out, seeing your breath in the cold. Your fingers were frozen but you didn’t care. As expected, you feel the wind pass by you. Knowing who it was, you didn’t bother in looking up.
“I am sorry for your loss, Y/N” Khonshu gently says.
You don’t say anything and continue to stare at Marc’s carved name on the tombstone. Khonshu doesn’t find it surprising and understands.
He thinks before he says, “As you humans say, they are no longer suffering here-”
“I want to go look for them.” You don’t look up at him when you say it. You grab a handful of dirt from the ground and slowly release it back down.
Khonshu, surprised, responds, "It's dangerous, they wouldn't want you to go alone"
"I know they wouldn't want me to, but I want to. Are you going to help me?" You take a step forward and look at him. He looks into your eyes and sees the revenge burning within your irises.
He stays quiet, which you take as a no. “Fine, I’ll do it by myself”
You clench your fist and look down at the grave. Marc's death plays over and over in your mind. Each face flashes through your mind, and you consider how each one aided in his death. How you begged them to stop.
“I’m going to kill, every last one of them”
---
Anyways, wasn't that cool? :D
Also, I know the argument between the reader and Marc was dumb but you try coming up with an argument that isn't cliche or one that would be reasonable for you to get mad at. It was for the plot is what I'm trying to say.
If yall want me to write a happy ending to it let me know or don't idk

Burden of Truth (Book 1) Chapter One
Father Figure! Marc Spector x Teen! Reader
Father Figure! Steven Grant x Teen! Reader
Mother Figure! Layla El-Faouly x Teen! Reader
Chapter One: In the Alps
Summary: (Y/N) goes to the Alps to find Ammit's scarab. They encounter much more trouble than they ever had before.
(Y/N) tugged on the ends of their sweatshirt as they walked through the village. The search for the scarab of Ammit had brought them unexpectedly to the Austrian Alps, but according to their information, the Followers of Ammit’s leader, Arthur Harrow, had many cult members there, and (Y/N) had to get to the scarab before he got possession of it.
Everyone in the village headed towards the town square, and (Y/N) drifted easily into the flow. If they caught sight of the person delivering the scarab, (Y/N) would pick their pocket and be on their way. They glanced over the crowd. They just had to be careful of the men with guns.
Their eyes landed on a man with a white hood pulled over his head. (Y/N) frowned. Isn’t that Khonshu’s avatar? They watched him look around almost in fright. That wasn’t like the man they’d seen before. He’d seemed much more self-assured then.
Still, (Y/N) remained on guard. They had never met an avatar other than him, and Khonshu hadn’t seemed nice, so (Y/N) wasn’t sure about getting closer.
Their attention went back to the crowd as they all came to a stop at the town square. Murmurs and excited whispers went up as they parted to let a single man walk through.
Harrow strolled through the crowd as they looked at him reverently. His cane tapped the ground rhythmically. Ammit’s followers bowed and murmured praise to him, thanking him for his presence and for the guidance of Ammit.
(Y/N) shivered at how honest all the devotion was.
The people around them jostled to get to the front. They all wanted to reach out to Harrow and even just brush his clothes. (Y/N) and Khonshu’s Avatar ended up nearer, and (Y/N) averted their gaze. They didn’t really want to deal with him. If he was there, it meant something dangerous might happen, and (Y/N) had done a very good job working in the shadows for seven years. They didn’t need it to change now.
“What a beautiful day,” said Harrow in English. “It’s like we’re in heaven.” He chuckled. “Only it’s not heaven, isn’t it? It’s a darkness.” He smiled kindly. “Sometimes it hides in our very hearts. We are here to make Earth as much like Heaven as possible.” Harrow looked around with a benevolent expression. “Who’d like to go first?”
(Y/N) watched as a young man stepped forward. They were about to see firsthand what had made Ma’at dislike Ammit so much, what made her want Harrow to never get closer to her teachings and power.
“You are a brave man, offering your soul for judgement,” said Harrow.
Judging before their time, before their death? thought (Y/N). But they have no Feather of Truth for their hearts to be weighed against. This was nothing but a perversion of the Judgement of the Dead.
“Wanting to serve out goddess even before she wakes,” said Harrow.
He rolled up his sleeves, and (Y/N) spotted the tattoo of scales on his forearm. He balanced his crocodile-headed cane in the man’s hands. The cane began to rock back and forth, and the scales on Harrow’s forearm moved with them.
“I judge you in Ammit’s name with but a fraction of her power,” declared Harrow.
The scales balanced and turned green. The crowd gasped, and Harrow smiled at the young man.
“This is the face of a good man!” he said benevolently. He hugged them, and applause went up in the crowd.
“Who would like to go next?” said a man next to Harrow.
“Me,” said an old woman. “Please, Harrow, I must know.”
“Call me Arthur.” Harrow extended a kindly hand to her. “Come.” She stepped up to him and allowed him to take her hands. “Will you accept your scales, regardless of the outcomes?”
            “Yes,” said the woman.
The cane swung back and forth, and the woman stared at Harrow’s scales apprehensively. They froze unbalanced and turned a sickening red.
“I’m sorry,” said Harrow sadly, but (Y/N) felt the lie. He was happy to rid the world of people judged to be unrighteous.
“I’ve been good my entire life,” said the woman desperately, unable to understand the results of her judgement.
“I believe you,” said Harrow. Truth. “But the scales see everything. Perhaps it’s something that lies ahead. He sighed. “Well, I wish you could live to see the world we make. Yet, Ammit has decided.”
The woman gave a gasp that died in her throat. Her body froze before collapsing, dead.
(Y/N)’s stomach twisted, and they grimaced as every part of them surged angrily at the injustice of these people being given no chance, even for their future. It went against the proper order of life. It was just wrong, and (Y/N) could feel it.
Harrow knelt sadly beside her body before it was carried away. One of his men walked up and crouched, holding his gun tightly.
“I’m sorry. There was a problem with the exchange,” he said in German.
Someone already took the scarab? thought (Y/N). Their eyes went to Khonshu’s Avatar.
“We got ambushed. Someone killed two of our men,” continued the man.
It was definitely Khonshu’s Avatar’s doing.
Harrow stood. “Is he still here?”
“We think so, yes,” said the guard.
They know his face, thought (Y/N), glancing at him again.
Harrow looked out over the crowd. “Bow to Ammit!” he said in Ancient Egyptian.
The entire crowd knelt ((Y/N), too, to blend in). Khonshu’s Avatar was late, having no idea what the order was and not being part of the cult.
            “Oh, bollocks,” cursed Khonshu’s avatar.
(Y/N) frowned. That was a totally different accent, English (weird English, too) instead of American. What was going on?
“You,” said Harrow, looking at him. “I know you.”
“Me? Hi, uh…” The avatar stood up nervously.
“Mercenary,” said Harrow coldly, and all eyes went to Khonshu’s avatar.
“ ‘Mercenary?’ ” repeated the man nervously as the crowd stood up again. “No, no. I’m not a mercenary. No, I’m a gift shop-ist. I work at a gift shop. My name’s Steven Grant.”
No lies at all, thought (Y/N). He really was Steven Grant and worked at a gift shop. Which, incidentally, made the whole situation more complicated because Harrow wasalso telling the truth. A regular job as cover? But what about the accents?
“I’m trying to get back home. To London,” said Steven nervously as Harrow approached. “London? I dunno why I’m saying it like that.”
“Well, Steven Grant of the gift shop,” said Harrow.
            “Yeah?” said Steven.
“Will you return to the scarab?” said Harrow, holding out his hands.
Shit, can’t let him have it, thought (Y/N). Now that they’d seen Harrow judge people and kill them, they knew that even beyond Ma’at’s instructions they needed to stop him. (Y/N) refused to let innocent people get hurt.
“The…The what?” said Steven, confused. “Oh, alright.” He patted his pockets nervously. “Yeah, the…Oh, you mean…” He pulled the scarab out of his pocket. He stared at in, not having expected it to be there.
            “You will give him nothing.”
Khonshu’s voice echoed over the street, and Steven looked around for it wildly. He swallowed and held out the scarab to Harrow anyways.
No! thought (Y/N). They took a step forward.
Harrow reached out. Steven’s fingers closed suddenly over the scarab. He looked at them in confusion.
“I strongly encourage you to return that,” said Harrow.
“I’m not-I’m…” Steven stammered, perplexed. He glared at his fingers, willing them to open. “I’m try—” He hit his hand with his other. “Come on, now. It’s like my fingers froze.” He tried to peel open his fingers. “But here’s some of that…I don’t know, maybe it’s part of the high altitude or something.” He managed to open his hand and grabbed the scarab. “Aha! There, take it, so strange. Sorry, but—” Steven’s hand swiveled behind him, again unbidden.
“I will not ask again,” said Harrow firmly.
“I didn’t do that on purpose,” said Steven. “I don’t know what’s happening.”
Completely truthful, thought (Y/N). This whole thing was proving strange.
Steven turned his whole body in an attempt to his hand nearer to Harrow. “There, take it, take it.”
(Y/N) couldn’t let that happen. They darted out and snatched the scarab. Steven and Harrow’s eyes widened, but (Y/N) didn’t wait around to find out their other reactions. They turned and made a run for it.
            “Grab them,” ordered Harrow.
Several adults emerged from the ground and grabbed for (Y/N). They dodged through a few, but two snagged their arms. (Y/N) yelped and pulled to get away. It didn’t work, so they just curled their fist closed around the scarab, refusing to let go.
“Who are you?” said Harrow, tilting his head in confusion as his people tried to pry their hand open.
“Hey, wait, mate, you can’t hurt a kid,” said Steven, brow creasing in concern.
“Stay out of this, worm,” said Khonshu’s voice.
Ma’at remained silent, apparently uninterested in getting near Khonshu again.
The people holding (Y/N) twisted their arm, and they cried out, straining to keep control of their arm. They couldn’t let Harrow get the scarab, not when he was going to hurt people.
Steven’s eyes rolled into his head for a moment before returning to glare at Harrow and Ammit’s followers. The entire body language had changed.
            “Finally,” said Khonshu.
Not-Steven—this wasn’t Steven—surged forwards and attacked the people trying to take the scarab for Harrow. He pulled them off of (Y/N) and punched them violently. One tried to attack him in return, but he kicked him to the ground and stomped on his head. (Y/N) stumbled back as their attacker let go, and Not-Steven swung for his head, catching the scarab as it fell. Another grabbed for (Y/N) again, and Not-Steven hit them in the face with the scarab. All the people fell to the ground against Not-Steven, left with bloody knuckles from no wounds on himself.
(Y/N) stared in surprise, as did Harrow and the crowd. Not-Steven turned to face Harrow, and then his eyes rolled into his head once more. He blinked furiously and looked around in confusion.
“No, the idiots back,” grumbled Khonshu’s voice.
Oh. (Y/N) put it together. Dissociative Identity Disorder. Steven and Not-Steven were alters, and one was clearly more of Khonshu’s avatar than the other. (Y/N) had met Not-Steven a year ago, and now they had encountered Steven.
Steven cleared his throat uncomfortably as he stared at his bloody hands. “S-Sorry…” He put his hands up and glanced at (Y/N). “A-Are you alright?”
(Y/N) nodded sharply, but they warily eyed the crowd backing off. They needed to get out of that village now. They had been seen by Harrow, which made them a target. If they didn’t leave with the scarab, (Y/N) was going to be killed. Or at least judged, which may end in death.
“We need to go,” said (Y/N), taking a step back as Harrow and the crowd approached again.
“Right, right…” Even Steven knew that was the best course of action now. He looked at Harrow warily. “I’m just gonna…we’re gonna go, alright? Yeah.”
Steven and (Y/N) ran around the crowd, dodging behind tractors and barrels before they could be grabbed. The only escape route they could see was the cupcake-truck. But, seeing as they were desperate, (Y/N) and Steven jumped on.
“Don’t you dare drop that scarab,” said Khonshu.
“Alright, alright, alright!” shouted Steven, starting the vehicle.
“Go, go, go!” said (Y/N), kicking away someone trying to open their door and locking it tightly.
“We’re going!” cried Steven, stepping on the gas and speeding out of the village onto the roads beyond. “What am I doing, what am I doing?! I don’t even have my license.”
“Just don’t crash,” said (Y/N), as encouraging as they could be considering the circumstances. They looked behind them. “We’ve got a lot of company.”
“This has to be a dream,” said Steven nervously.
“It’s not, Steven,” said (Y/N), grimacing as they saw Harrow’s men catching up. The cupcake van wasn’t going to outrun them.
“They’re gonna kill us!” cried Steven as he wound around the curves of the roads.
He tried to speed up, but a chicken-transportation truck appeared in front of them, and he had to slow down. The followers of Ammit rammed into them from the back.
(Y/N) grit their teeth and squeezed their eyes shut. This isn’t 2018. This isn’t 2018. They weren’t going to die in a car accident. They weren’t.
Steven honked and swerved around the truck of chickens. “Come on, move your ass!” he grimaced as he saw the old lady glaring at him. “Thank you. So sorry. Thank you.”
Shots rang out, and a guard jumped from the front of his car to the back the cupcake van. He pulled at the doors, letting them swing wildly in the wind.
(Y/N) scrambled into the back of the van and kicked him back. The guard fell onto the road, and they grimaced as the cars hit him and kept going. No sooner was he down, though, then another man jumped towards the open back. This time, he kept his gun raised, and (Y/N) dodged to the side. He grabbed for Steven and the scarab, and (Y/N) grabbed his ankle, tripping him. He stumbled and aimed downwards at him with his gun. Alongside them, another car was pulling up with a man with his gun trained on Steven.
“Wait, no!” shouted Steven, and (Y/N) pushed back to try to avoid being shot.
In the next moment, Steven—No, Not-Steven—grabbed the man aiming for (Y/N) and smashed his head into the steering wheel. He jerked back, and Not-Steven grabbed his gun. In one fluid motion, he shot the driver of the other car, sending it careening off into the mountain, and he shot the man aiming for (Y/N), letting his body fall back and out of the van.
No sooner was it done than his eyes rolled again, and Steven dropped the gun in shock and disgust. “I don’t understand what’s happening!” cried Steven.
“Truck!” shouted (Y/N), grabbing the seat they were behind as Steven screamed and swerved violently around a log truck. It tipped over and crushed a pursuing car.
Two others pulled up on either side of the van and tried to hit the sides of the cupcake truck. A man on either side raised a gun and aimed.
(Y/N) ducked and prepared to take the wheel if Steven got shot.
His eyes rolled into the back of his head, and Not-Steven’s eyes focused. He glanced at (Y/N) before spinning the wheel. (Y/N) held onto the seat as the van spun around, hit one car, and ended up backwards. The car crashed off the side of the mountain, and now the cupcake truck faced the final car pursuing them.
Not-Steven’s eyes rolled into the back of his head, and Steven focused again.
            “I’m driving backwards!” he cried.
“Watch out!” said (Y/N), bracing as the car behind(?) them tried to hit them.
Steven threw the gun at the car, and (Y/N) groaned.
“Did he just throw the gun?!”
“I don’t know what I’m doing!” said Steven.
            “Then leave us be, parasite!”
Steven panicked and turned the wheel, spinning the car around again. They sped towards the forest in the valley, and then…the engine died.
They coasted to a stop, and the car behind them pulled up to block the road in front. The men got out, readied their guns, and headed towards them.
“Come on,” said (Y/N), pulling Steven towards the back of the van to escape.
At the perfect moment, the logs that had come off the truck from earlier landed on the road and crushed the men.
            “Oh, shit!” cried Steven.
“Oh, god,” said (Y/N), eyes widening. What an unfortunate way to go. Still…it meant they were alive.
            “We need to go.”
(Y/N) glanced at the man beside them. It was Not-Steven again.
“Do you still have the scarab?” said (Y/N), following Not-Steven.
“Yeah,” said Not-Steven. They headed into the woods and walked along the road towards the next town over.
            “What’s your name?” asked (Y/N).
“Marc,” said Not-Steven. He glanced back at them. “You’re Ma’at’s avatar.”
            (Y/N) nodded. “You’re Khonshu’s.”
            Marc narrowed his eyes. “Yeah.”
“…I’m (Y/N),” said (Y/N). They realized they should have introduced themself earlier.
Marc nodded. “Do you have a way back to…wherever you live?”
“Ma’at will tell me where I need to go next,” said (Y/N). “I’ll figure it out from there.”
Marc frowned. “You don’t live anywhere?”
            “No?” said (Y/N).
Marc looked at them and furrowed his brow before turning back to the front. “Be careful.”
“I know,” said (Y/N). They were the avatar of a god and took back (stole) relics from criminals regularly. They wouldn’t be alive if they didn’t know to be careful.
But, still, there was something nice about someone saying it instead of (Y/N) having to just take care of themself.

“You were filming our judgement, correct?” Harrow smiled at a young woman.
            She nodded. “Yes, Mr. Harrow.”
“Please, call me Arthur,” said Harrow. “Would you mind if I took a look?”
“Of course, Mr-Arthur,” said the young woman.
            “Thank you,” said Harrow, smiling.
“Mr. Harrow,” said one of his guards, walking up to him. “They got away with the scarab, but we’re already tracking down ‘Steven Grant.’ ”
“Good,” said Harrow. He held up the phone with a still of the crowd from the video. “And I need you to figure out who this is.” (Y/N)’s face stared out of the crowd.

A/N: Its good to be back. This chapter has been sitting in my drafts since January last year. I made a post some time in December 2022 or January 2023 for my readers and followers to make a mood board for this series in exchange for a fluff chapter. I like to keep my promises and here it is baby! thank you to @justalittlehoneybee, @ihatemyselfmorethanmydepression, and one other person that I can't find for the mood boards, unfortunately. Thank you so much for being patient for the continuation of this series. I appreciate it!
Mood board
NOTE: This chapter takes place between Chapter Forty-Six and Chapter Forty-Seven of Transitions
“It’s been awhile since you took that telescope up to the roof,” Marc says. You pause in poking your bowl of noodles with your fork and glance at him from where you sat at the table. It was nearing nine o’clock in the evening and you were supposed to work and pick up an extra shift for your coworker, Emily. It will be a little earlier than usual tomorrow since she has to take her grandma to the doctors on the weekend because of a weird rash on her leg. You tried to help Jake cook dinner but the apartment nearly caught fire again because of hot oil splashing and an open stove top don’t mix. Luckily, they didn’t blame you for it this time because Jake was trying to teach you how to cook chicken in a skillet on the stove and it was his fault he wasn’t paying attention.
So, here you are, eating dinner a little too late since it took a while to clean up the mess from your failed attempt and Steven decided that pasta was a better idea than burnt chicken.
“Yeah,” You agree. “It’s been hard trying to find the time to go up there and use it without it being too cloudy.” Your eyes flicker to the window you were just dropped out of not too long ago. The sky has very little clouds which surprised you since there’s almost always clouds during the winter. You can see the moon is in its crescent phase as you absentmindedly poke your noodles. Your eyes trail to his and you stare at him as he looks out the same window you were staring out of just moments ago and hums in agreement.
“Why don’t we take the telescope to the roof in a bit?” You ask as you return your gaze to your noodles and you scoop them with the fork and chew.
You can feel his eyes are on you while you eat as he asks, “Don’t you have work tomorrow?”
“I do.”
“You’ll be tired.”
You shrug, “I’m always tired.”
“You’ll be even more grumpy when you wake.”
“It sounds like you’re trying to make up excuses.”
“I’m not.”
“Okay, so what’s the problem?” You ask in between bites. “Are you going to be tired in the morning when you take me to work? You can come back and take a nap.”
“That’s not it…” He grumbles. You stare at him, his eyes are pointed down at something on the floor. You drop your fork against your bowl and lean back in your chair, deciding that you are done with your half empty bowl.
“So, what is it?”
“It’s nothing.”
“It sure does sound like something.”
“Well, it’s not,” He snaps. Your fingers tap against your thigh as you trail your gaze back over to the window. You can still see the marks that your fingers made when Horus forced you out of it on the wall. Over the past few days since they returned from Algeria you learned that Marc is the type of person where if he wants to do something fun, it has to be your idea. If he wants to watch a certain movie, he’ll give you hints until you ask him to watch the movie with you. Sometimes, Steven picks up on it a bit better than you do and he’ll invite you to watch the movie or go out shopping or do something mundane with them.
You think Marc just doesn’t know how to ask to spend time with you. Maybe he gets embarrassed to ask or he’s afraid that he’ll be rejected; so it’s better not to ask overall or hint enough for you to pick up. It was a decent night to go up to the roof and gaze at the stars, you would like it to be warmer but you can just layer up and steal Stevens mittens if you need to. Besides, what’s the chances of you falling asleep before eleven tonight, anyways? Jake has to go do his nightly patrolling and you’ll just be wound up until he comes back.
“Okay,” You breathe out as you grab your bowl and stand up. “I’m going to go get a jacket and some thicker pants before I head up, you’re welcome to join me if you want.”
“It’s cold out,” He tells you as you walk to the trash and scrape the remaining pasta into it.
“I know, that’s why I’m taking your thicker sweatpants. Y’know, the ones with the fur on the inside.” You wash your dishes before setting them on the drying rack and passing Marc, who remained in his seat, and going to their dresser to steal his clothes. You rummage through their drawer and pull out a thick pair of socks before taking out the blue threaded bottoms you were talking about. You pull on the sweatpants over your own pajama bottoms and tie them around your waist before pulling on the socks. You grab a sweatshirt from the end of the bed and put it over your t-shirt before slipping on your shoes and walking to the coat rack. You shrug on the jacket that once belonged to Marc- and now it was yours- as you turn towards him.
“It’s a little cloudy out,” He says as he peers out the window.
“I see some patches open,” You tell him without looking out the glass pane. You grab your lanyard, the thin cloth feeling small in between your fingers as you tell him that you’re getting the telescope and going to the roof. Walking down the short distance to your apartment and unlocking the door, you peer into the moonlit room. The cracks in the window are still visible and the floor in front of the door where the intruder was killed is clean of any bloodstain that could be seen just by the naked eye. You know that just behind the picture frame of your parents that there was a hole in the drywall caused by your laptop hitting it.
So much has happened in this flat over the last six months. You spent time on the floor during the summer heat wave, eating popsicles with your neighbor and trying to not peel your skin off when your thighs stuck to the floor due to your sweat. You also tracked blood from the entryway across the floor to the bathroom when you came back from dinner with your neighbor and got ambushed. You cleaned the broken bulb in the kitchen when Khonshu decided to be extra and shatter it. You were pressed up against the window by Horus and held out of it once, although he didn’t confirm nor deny that it was him. He seemed to ignore your statement when he decided to drop you out the window of Stevens flat after you rejected his offer.
You can’t believe that a deity saved your life twice, the first when they made you move and fight the cult member; and the second when they stopped you from hitting the pavement after Horus dropped you. Taweret has healed you before but she was never in an active role such as this god. Taweret healed your injuries after you got mugged and the Eye of Horus paper was ripped. She didn’t save you from hitting the pavement, you’re sure of it.
You spent a little over a year in this apartment being alone but not with the anxiety that seems to be more common these days than it should be. Now you spend more time anywhere but here. You spend more nights at your neighbors and Laylas than you do with your stolen table and couch you bought at a yard sale. So much has happened in such little time. If you didn’t have the knowledge of the things that happened here, you wouldn’t have thought twice about walking on the floor, especially in the entryway. Your hand reaches through the entry way and you flip on the light switch before taking a large step over the patch where you killed the man and heading towards the telescope propped against the wall in the far corner of the room near the couch.
You would have left it at Stevens place but he doesn’t have much room, besides you shouldn’t clutter his space with your things. It's not like you’re paying rent at his place even though you eat his food, sleep in his bed, and take a shower in his bathroom. Your hands grasp onto the cool metal of the scope as you pause in your steps. Are you just laying in their bed and taking up his space without doing anything useful? You’re not contributing to his home even with the amount of time you spend there. You do the dishes when he cooks or you dirty them. You do the laundry and you have tried to pitch in for groceries but they refused to allow you to do so. But, you haven’t done much else.
You should talk to them sometime about that. But how do you bring it up to your neighbor that you should pay some portion of their rent just because you take up their space? Can you even afford to do that? You know that you have some money saved up since you don’t grocery shop as much and your water bill is nonexistent since you don’t use your sinks or shower for your own apartment. But, is that enough to give them every month?
You don’t know, maybe you should think more on this before bringing it up to them. You’re sure that Marc won’t want to chat to you about this, it was more of a Steven conversation, right? It is Stevens' apartment, it is in his name but…Jake and Marc live there too and they are part of Steven just as much as he is part of them. So, shouldn’t this conversation include everyone?
You carry the telescope towards the exit before your eyes catch the notebook and pencil resting on your coffee table. It is nearly filled with notes on your classes about your upcoming exams before the winter break and you are feeling nervous about them. If you don’t pass, you’ll have to contact your counselor and have a one-on-one conversation with them about why you didn’t pass your class and what you can do in the next term to improve your education. It doesn’t sound terrible, but it truly is because you are considered dead and if your counselor recognizes you, you are fucked. You grab the notebook and pencil, tucking the lead into the metal spiral holding the book together before you pick up the telescope. Are you asking them to move in if you bring up the rent issue?
Afterall, you were considering paying for their place rather than yours when you thought that they were dead. A small knot in your stomach twists at the memory of those days. Quickly, you push it away and take a breath of air to calm yourself. Should you be the one to bring this up? It sounds like you're possibly inviting yourself to move in one hundred percent. It is their apartment and so far they don't have any problems about your living arrangement. But that doesn't mean they won't if you decide to ask them about it. Who knows, maybe they're going to be against the idea. They are grown men and it is a bit weird that a teenager who is unrelated to them is living with them.
You should wait to see if they'll bring it up themselves, you shouldn't question them if you should move into their apartment and withdraw from your own space. Mentally, you bookmark the topic and decide to focus on the task of getting outside. Pushing open the door to the rooftop, you walk up the steps and immediately get the shivers from the cool breeze. Goosebumps cover your skin and the metal of the telescope seems to make your hands ten times colder in the stairway. You're not even completely on the roof and you are beginning to. It almost makes you return to the boys apartment to be warm on a soft bed and underneath a pile of blankets. But, instead you persevere and push forward into the December night. Dozens of white dots litter the night sky as if brush was flicked among a canvas. Tonight was going to be great, you can feel it in your bones; although that might be the chill.
The gravel on the rooftop, crunches underneath your shoes as you walk further onto the roof. Setting down your notebook, you open up your telescope and place it carefully onto its three legs and remove the lens cover before peeking through the scope and at the stars above you. It took a few extra seconds for the lens to adjust and the blurriness to fade, but there above you in all its might was a beautiful sight. The stars never seem to not amaze you. Slowly, you exhale and vapor leaves your mouth as you stuff your hands into your sweats. Maybe in another life you were in university and studying the stars. Maybe in that life you and your best friend are attending the same school. Your hands clench a bit at the thought of her and your stomach turns in grief. What is she up to? You wonder. She has to be completing her highschool education since you are too; or maybe she took a gap year to process your “death.”
Maybe she has a partner or maybe shes attending school but she’s fucking around in it. Maybe she no longer gives a damn about her education since five years were taken from her and so were you. This time this year you both should be applying for scholarships and studying at each other's homes. You both should be brainstorming christmas crafts and teasing her about her wonky paper mache stars from the previous years. But, instead you took a one way plane ride to the other side of the world and cut all the strings that once tied you to your previous life.  You can think of all the alternate lives another you are living all you want, but the simple conclusion is that it is not this one, so why bother? Why think of all the what ifs and the could be when it's no use. It won't change anything, all it will do is make you mourn for the should be’s.
You swallow around the lump forming in your throat. Where’s Marc? You think. It felt like it's been too long since you last saw him. It’s definitely been long enough for you to reflect on alternate lives. Perhaps he wasn’t coming and was just making a mere observation that it has been a long time since you took the telescope up to the roof. They did buy you that as a birthday gift and you only have ever used it once. That's an expensive dust collector for your apartment. Did you really come to the roof all by yourself and set everything with the expectation for him to come but get stood up instead? You don’t doubt it. Maybe he decided to go on patrol instead. You came up here with the intent to have a good night and that's exactly what is going to happen. Fuck it if Horus comes and threatens you when you’re all by your lonesome. Fuck him. You can’t let that fear stop you from living your life.
“Fine,” You breathe out. “He doesn’t have to join me, but he could at the very least have told me they’re going on patrol.” The noise of the door opening behind you causes you to turn and your heart to skip a beat in your chest. Marc's cheeks become tinted red as the winter breeze softly blows into him.
You clear your throat a bit before you tell him, “I was beginning to think that you weren’t going to take my invite.” You watch him cross the space to you. He holds a navy bubble jacket to his chest as he breathes out, vapor drifting from him as he does so.
“I should have stayed inside,” He grumbles and hands you the jacket. “Take it and put it on, you’re going to get a cold and I don’t want to deal with you being sick again.”
“Thanks,” You snatch it from him and slide it on before zipping it up. You feel like you’re the Michelin Tire Mascot. All puffed up on your torso and arms which is making it difficult to move an inch but you’re warm with the three layers of tops you have on. A warm feeling drips down from your chest and pools in your gut. It was a feeling that you recognize so easily, you are grateful for his appearance even though you told yourself you were okay with them not showing. You are grateful for everything that they have done for you.
“You’re going to catch your death at this rate.”
“Probably,” You shrug as you step away from the telescope and sit down onto the gravel. You reach for the notebook and pencil a couple of inches away from you.The rocks press harshly into your legs and butt and you know that when you stand up again that you’re going to have rock imprints upon your body even through the clothes. You shift in your spot and try to get comfortable upon the cold ground before you feel his eyes burning into you. Your eyes flicker up and he was giving you a questioning look.
“What’s that for?” He asks and points to your lap.
“The notebook?” You raise it a bit and show him your pencil. “I’m charting some stars.” He clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth in response and stuffs his hands into his pockets. The curls on his head blow softly as another breeze passes through you and your papers ruffle a bit. You move your attention to the paper in your lap and begin to chart the stars, glancing back and forth between the sky above you and the notebook you held. You only charted one constellation before you look up and see Marc eying the telescope.
“Do you want to use it?” You ask and he doesn’t answer which causes you to set down your pencil. “It’s okay if you do. You can use the telescope anytime you want, Marc.”
“Any time?”
“Yes, Marc, any time.” You tell him and pick up the pencil once more to continue. He bends down and adjusts the height for the scope before peering into it. For a while, the only sound between the two of you was the traffic below, the single plane flying in the distance, and your pencil scratching against the surface of the paper. You were feeling content and at peace with it. Marc and you never really spoke for a long time before and you weren’t expecting to now. It was just how the two of you typically interacted. You would sometimes say something or he would too and you always let the silence settle between you before Steven fronts and decides to interact with you. It hasn’t made you uncomfortable in a long time, not since you first met them and felt like you had to cram in conversation every single second so none of you would be awkward.
It just felt comfortable and peaceful; and you were beginning to settle into it when he said, “Did you know that our sun is a dwarf star?” You did. You learned it in science class when you were a sophomore. It was one of the few introductions to the upper grades astronomy class that your teacher was trying to get your fellow students to be interested in and take within the next two years of highschool. You took that biology class with your best friend and wrote notes back and forth to each other. Marc should know that you already knew it since you were so invested in astrophysics. Which could only mean he was just asking you to have a conversation.
“Yeah,” You tell him as you glance at the constellation you were sketching before returning your gaze to your notebook. “I learned that when I was a sophomore.”
He doesn't look at you but focuses on whatever he was looking at as he says, “I loved space when I was a kid. I used to want to be an astronaut. I wanted to be thousands of miles away from home and among the stars. I wanted to visit the moon.” He pauses, causing you to look at him as you roll your pencil between your fingers. “Maybe I would be an astrophysicist like you want to be.” You still want to be, he knows you do and the longing for another life will never go away.
“What happened?” You ask even though you know the answer.
“I left home as soon as I turned eighteen and joined the army. My dreams stopped.” He shrugs his shoulders as you take in his statement. The adult who you have come to know was a child once. He had dreams and aspirations. He had favorite superheroes in comic books and a favorite cereal. He had a favorite toy and a favorite park to go to. He had preferences over playing on the slide or swings. He once knew the channel number for kids shows. All of that sunk down deep into the starry ocean to never come to the surface again. To never matter.
“The best version of yourself has yet to come, kid.” He says. “Don't give up on them.” How could he say that even though he knows you can't do anything about your old aspirations. It kind of felt a punch to your gut, everything felt impossible to do. The idea of succeeding was just dead hope. Your lips part slightly as you get ready to tell him how wrong he is but quickly shut it. He was trying to boost your morals and give you unnecessary pep talk. You don't need that, you know the reality of everything; although you decide to keep quiet about it for tonight. Maybe some other time you'll argue it but tonight wasn't the night for it. You want to keep the peace and have a good time. It was one of the rare times that there was no danger, but rather you and them and the stars above.
“Can you help me with charting?” You ask him, he stands up straight and turns away from the scope to look at you. His eyes travel down to the notebook in your lap and back to your face with a questioning gaze.
“What do you need?” He asks. Honestly, you don’t need the help. You can see the night sky clearly and you can easily tell what the constellations were. He knew that and you know that he knows, but you still want to keep the conversation rolling.
“Just the location of the stars and the constellations.” You tell him. He stares at you for a moment with a look of something you can’t quite place. Perhaps he was calling your bluff and getting ready to tell you no and leave to go patrol. Maybe he was thinking about how you managed to invite him to a cold ass rooftop at ten in the evening and he agreed to it and now he’s regretting it because of your stupid request. Maybe he was listening to Steven beg him to help you.
“Yeah,” He tells you.“It’s no problem.” His acceptance somewhat surprises you. You thought he was going to reject you and tell you that you can do it without his help. “Where do you want me to start?”
“Okay, cool,” You pause and glance down to the sketch of what you already started. “Uh, can you start with the one next to the Big Dipper?”
“Did you begin with that one?”
“Yeah, it's easier to go from there than to start with any other one,” You lie, really it was just the easiest one to draw and seek out. It was also your favorite so you put more detail into it than you will with the other constellations. You don’t want to be burnt out by the time you get to it and do a halfass job at doing it justice. He turns around and looks at the sky.
“Okay, so… I think the next one has a kind of shape to it like a rhombus and a triangle for the left side.”
“Like it's a wonky hedgehog without legs?” You ask and he laughs.
“I guess you could say that.” He says and you swear you hear a smile in his voice as he speaks
“Or a gnome without limbs.” You add.
“Some might say it's a house but turned on its side.”
“That’s too boring.” You shake your head a bit and release a breathy laugh as you sketch it. You spent the next hour drawing his descriptions and making small talk and jokes as the time passed. It wasn’t until you finish your fifth drawing that a yawn escape your mouth and you feel sleep pulling at your eyes. It was getting late and you do need to get ready for bed. You do have to go to work tomorrow as much as that sucks.  You know that you’re not going to get any rest until they come back but you do have to try. Besides, the sooner they leave the quicker they come back and the more rest you’re going to get.
“Okay,” You say. “I’m ready to call it.” You sign your own name before placing the pencil on the notebook and lifting it up towards him. He raises an eyebrow at you and you sniffle from the cold. Being underneath the blankets in a warm and cozy bed sounds amazing and you are so ready for that.
“Sign it,” You tell him, trying to balance the lead on the page so it wouldn’t fall off.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
“Why do you want me to sign it? I barely even helped with it.”
“You did though, you told me where the constellations were and what shapes they should be.” You nod your chin to the notebook. He wasn’t going to get out of not signing it. He did help and he deserves the credit as much as you do. Besides, it will be a fun memory to come across in the future. He takes the book from you and scribbles his name down into something barely legible. As he hands it back, you can recognize the first two letters of his first and last name. You can feel the corner of your lips tilt up and you do your best to hide your happiness as you stand and brush off the pebbles from your body.
“You have work tomorrow.” He comments as another yawn leaves you.
“Yeah, yeah.” You grumble as you tuck the book underneath your arm as Marc collapses the telescope. Silence is between the two of you and it's not uncomfortable at all. It feels more like the type of silence where the party is over and you both had a good time and now it's time to focus on the other tasks at hand. You head down the stairs and he shuts the door behind you with the items in hand.
“This was your idea, you know.” He tells you. It was, kind of. Wasn’t he the one who originally commented on the night sky? You can’t really remember, your brain feels too tired to recall any memories leading up to the last couple of hours.
“Yeah,” You breathe out as you unlock your apartment door. He brushes past you and sets the telescope next to your couch. “I know.” From the hallway, as you watch him return to you, you can see his face is flushed red from the cold but his eyes are a little brighter than before you went up to the roof. He had a good time and you feel glad that you can clearly see that on his face.
“Bedtime,” He tells you and you roll your eyes.
“I’m not a kid,” You grumble as you lock your apartment door and head towards their apartment.
“You’re going to be grumpy in the morning like a child would be.”
“Speak for yourself, you’re always grumpy.” You tell him. He exhales like a laugh leaves him.
The corner of his lips tilts up in a smile you don’t mention, “We’ll see.”

Summary : In which we delve into the what if scenario with Marc and Y/n . What if Marc had waited…and asked Layla for help after the 3 months being gone.
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Y/n had woken up slightly late (2 minutes after her normal time) , as she rushed to shower , brush her teeth , change for school and manage to consume some sustenance for the morning before school.
She rushed into the flat before tripping over one of Stevens pile of books with a thud and cringed at the dust that had been kicked up. She sneezed a few times as she rearranged the books into their previous jenga like tower before rushing into the kitchen.
Where pda was on display….she made a face as she grabbed a mug for coffee and quickly served it as she turned back to find stern faces "Aww what's wrong little bug ?" She wrinkled her nose at the affectionate name "People are weird..between you guys , miguel and dana…this pda thing is gross" Layla chuckled at that kissing her forehead "Yeah , well you'll grow up eventually and have someone you'll want to kiss" She quirked a brow at that "Mother….i do not require affection…nor will i bend to the will of being bound to a mere-mortal" she said while drinking her coffee and eating some breakfast “You need to stop watching those supernatural dramas with her babe” Marc sighed.
She felt a heavy gaze settle over her as she ignored the sensation focusing on her homework "How are your grades , kiddo ?" Marc asked as Y/n glanced up momentarily "Oh…uhh i have a 3 A's , 2 B's and one C" she said nonchalantly "That's good darling" her mom smiled "Oh…Ms.what's-her-face said she was gonna call you guys about an event or something" she said as both her parent gave her an expression that you could probably imagine.
"What about ? Do you have an F?" She glanced up with a quirked brow "No..something about cinnamon rolls? I dunno, this lady always talks to me , while i'm reading" she huffed in frustration.
Her Dad chuckled "Honor Roll ? That's a good baby girl" he smiled "We're proud of you kiddo." She hummed "So you guys staying or you guys have to work again ?" She asked, trying to change the conversation and they stayed silent..which meant they would probably be gone again by the time she was home from school .
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Y/n sighed as she walked down the sidewalk to the bus , it was like 3 blocks from her house….but she had a 15 minute cushion. Anxiety was fun…especially when school was a long walk away . So she’d be 15 mins early to the bus stop , she sighed as she silently walked past a few buildings noting the new scenery.
New York was new for her , they'd be here for past 2 years..which in the span of her 16 years of life was short…they'd lived multiple places in the past…the longest being Los Angeles , where she picked up the subtle californian accent and slang.
New York was after London…which she had enjoyed slightly….but not a lot as her mom was now a hero…and around less lately …usually with her Dad…..and now she was being a baby.
They only started leaving her alone for extended periods of time. Assuring her it was temporary …which wasn't uncommon for her as her mom was an archeologist….and sometimes she was gone for a handful of days…to weeks..maybe a few months for her Dad…but Mom was usually gone for a few days at most .  Lately…well a year ago, It'd extended… they'd been gone 6 months …leaving the neighbors in charge ... .Miguel's Mother Conchata …. who invited her over for dinners and to hang out. Essentially adopting her temporarily.
And they'd just gotten back from a Month trip ... .a month ... .not that it bothered the practically adult teen…but it was an adjustment.
She was brought out of her thoughts by whimpering as she glanced down an alleyway sheepishly ….her instinct telling every hair on her body to stand and get the hell out of there.
Except she heard a whisper…her ears straining to hear the very faint whisper as she sighed walking a bit further in.
Her mind racing "This is some scary movie sh*t…ya idiot…" she huffed to herself "But theres a puppy in there or a dog…it's crying" she reasoned to herself pacing a bit as she walked away further to the bus stop before sighing "And …" she frowned turning around back to the alley and walking in and softly staring at the black dog…it's fur drenched in blood as 2 long gashes ran down from it's chest to it's ribs.
She frowned softly petting the damp fur "awww…it's okay……" she cooed "Well it's not okay cuz that looks bad…" she muttered to herself as she winced at the dogs whine …cuz it was a dog.
….it heard her as she winced "Oh it's okay , tis a flesh wound" she reassured …smiling faintly as a memory struct "You can probably walk it off" she said reassuringly petting the dog as it whined and growled softly. Before opening it's mouth in her lap and nuzzling something into her hand. She quirked a brow as she picked it up to look as the dog nuzzled her hand close before looking into her eyes and whining as if to communicate something.
She hummed "Hey , i'll watch it and deliver it to your owner" she smiled softly  "And hey , if it's time …it's time. You won't hurt anymore and you can find peace and stuff " she reassured before adding "Unless………uhhhhhh…………….. you don't believe that or you're like some evil dog…" she hummed before chuckling "Or you have like unfinished business…then i guess you can haunt whoever did this to you" she smiled sheepishly noting that the poor thing had passed at the peace part as she sighed "I'll come back later and take you to the vet clinic" she smiled reassuringly petting it one last time before checking her watch and cursing as ran out of the alley way.
She cursed as she ran to the stop..and watched it pull away…not stopping as she sighed pinching her nose in frustration. And beginning the walk to the next bus that stopped a block away from her school
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Today was turning out shitty as she'd missed her bus for school. The dog was worth it…it sadly still died in an alley but…at least it had company. And she tried being …oh poor dog..she's talked its ear off !!!
The good thing was that Miguel..her best-friend and neighbor held the door open as she ran into the building before it closed for the day. Miguel..ever the dorky nerd , he held his hand out as they walked.
“C’mon where’s your math homework ? Did you ask your parents for help ?” she gave him a confused look “Homework ? Which class ?” Miguel fixed her with a drool look as they walked to stand in the line for the lockers room for P.E “The Algebra homework” Y/n hummed “Nah , i have a 20 point cushion from extra credit last week” she said nonchalantly as Miguel glared “En serio ?” he huffed in disbelief and disappointment.
She shrugged “I can probably afford the 1 missing assignment “ Miguel sighed “Lunch , we are doing it before we have class. No way you're missing it , because we are going on the Honor Roll End of the semester trip!” he said firmly.
She snorted “You really think , my parents will let that happen ?”
Miguel rolled his eyes “Sure , they're never home. They’d never know” that struck a nerve as she sighed "I guess…but they have to sign the permission slip" Miguel quirked a brow "They don't know you forge it ? Still think my mom sign" she glared "Dude , you forge your moms signature and you live with her full time" she countered as he held his hands up "Ay! Calmate! I was kidding"
*a few minutes later*
Y/n was in the middle of talking to miguel …waiting for roll call to begin when his girlfriend interuppted "Spector, you weirdo….hands bleeding " the older girl laughed as Y/n frowned before realizing that her hand was indeed bleeding as she tried recalling cutting herself so bad…it was actually dripping.
Before recalling she had felt a sting when the dog had pushed the thing into her hand.
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
The day went normally , she went to all 6 periods…studied with miguel…, his friends and his girlfriend. Who were all upperclassmen and teased her about being 'so much' younger as she rolled her eyes…she was only 3 months younger than Miguel.
Gabriel …..Miguel's little brother also hung out with them…but he was acting different with her now. They had been close once …back when Miguel had ignored and been mean to her…but it was a good close …that…..she couldn't explain it….she had tried once and it resulted in a Jake appearance…and now he acted like this…so..yeah.
So now Y/n just avoided him out of him being awkward. And that was that.
Anyways , she was currently on her way home…walking….as she'd taken the wrong bus and ended up in the complete opposite side of town.
So she sighed , walking down the road later because her dumb ass …again took the wrong bus and them tripped over her own feet.
She sighed remembering the dog…from earlier…and deciding that it would be best …to atleast take the poor thing to the vets to be cremated..but it probably cost money ..and she had like 20 from allowance cash…on her person. Assuming her parents were gone again.  She'd buy some dinner…from the taco stand by the apartment.
However….she felt bad..and poor dog had gone through enough. So she walked down the road to the alley way. She sighed handing over the money as the receptionist smiled telling her that they would call her when it’s body was ready for pick up.
She nodded before making her way home……
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Like usual….she walked home having missed her window for the taco stand…..something that probably would’ve lightened her day. She returned home to find a set of very upset parents….she was unsure how to respond and being her fathers daughter as her mother always mentioned.
She made a issue that could’ve been easily resolved with a ‘Sorry , it won’t happen again’ , placing a ‘It wasn’t my fault , there was a bus mix-up ,after study group , and then i fell and ….wait you guys are home ?! You guys didn’t text me …how was i supposed to know ! You guys aren’t ever home’ which earned her a rebuking and sent to her room. Honestly sometimes she didn’t think things through , she had failed to notice the streamers and cake set up as they called her out after her fathers and mom lectured her about talking back and paying attention.
And then they sat down , ate dinner….pizza….
…she hated pizza….she wanted and craved the bomb ass tacos from down the road….and then her parents handed her an enveloped with a black and white blob as she quirked a brow curiously glancing up from them and the blob before reality slammed down …and guess what….
“We’ll be home more , we moved work and we’ll be around for more…and we’ll spend more time with you….”
And she wasn’t paying attention as she heard a dull ringing in her ear….she felt a rush of different types of emotions…….
….Being the only kid for 16 years…comes with issues because… she had at some point begged for another sibling and she understood then and now that it had been hard for her parents even more because of her for some reason. Her mother always told her that she was and had been a unexpected blessing..so she’d always assumed it ended there. And now…NOW after 16 years they finally decided it was time…or fate whatever higher being ?!!!!
Not only that but , her whole life they’d moved , wandered and explored ….hell after school became worrisome they’d left her in the Americas  continue her education. So they weren’t willing to stop for her…but for this tiny little thing that wasn’t even existent….
She hadn’t even realized she’d gone to her room , nor the knocking on her door until the annoying bird that was a constant in her life sat on her bed. He always gave her strangely violent advice like …Jake but…more sagely.
He was currently staring at her as she sighed deeply “I fucked up , huh big bird?” she murmured.
“It’s not set in stone , little worm. You’d be surprised…what one word can do” she sniffled at that as tears welled up in her eyes “Why can’t i do shit right” she huffed wiping her eyes angrily “Sometimes i wonder if life would be easier for them without me…” she murmured as she shuffled to lean against the old birds legs as he patted her head in a affectionate pet kind of way “I assure you it wouldn’t” she snorted “How do you know..oh great spirit guide” she huffed “I just get in the way….i bet there wasn’t even a party with me. They were probably like ‘oh shit…one escaped the condom’ “ she huffed as the bird made a distressed noise “You are -something else , little bug” she shrugged “Normals boring…tried it when i was born…didn’t like it……” she chuckled as the bird smiled “Now wake up” she jolted up in her bed half asleep as she glanced around in pain as she stared at the wound on her palm from the dogs necklace….before screaming at the giant glowing canary eyes……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆

Please Don't Hate Me!
(Moon knight x Reincarnated teen Reader)
Marc Spector carries a lot of Secrets that more often than not get him into a world of trouble. Turns out his kid might have more than he does.
Poor Layla , she didn't sign up for this
In other words:
In a world where a person from our world reincarnates into moon knight and they Really, Really love their big family
Disclaimer: I do not own Moon Knight or the photos (I do edit the photos, but they are not mine)

Ch 2
Tumblr media
Ch 3: You're in Deep Shit Marc Spector
Warning: mentions of depression and someone passing out,
also Layla steals the show, good for her
———
Loud, constant clacking filled the dimming room as a woman with long, dark, curly hair sat at her desk typing away with a harsh, but determined look.
She was frustrated, royally pissed, but most of all, Layla was worried.
Her baby girl, yes hers.
Marc had left, leaving divorce papers a few weeks after his disappearance, sure they were unsigned, but she didn't care!
He. Left!
He has no right to say he cares!
He. Has. No. Fucking Right.
Marc Left.
And it tore her baby girl apart.
It tore her heart as well, but that she can handle.
She can be wounded, she can bleed till her last drop and she will still be able to move. It would be hard but she can get up and try again. It would take time and she would have to learn to trust again, but she could, would heal.
But watching her baby girl fall apart?
Literally fall apart, piece by piece?
That was the kicker.
The Final straw.
That was Marc stabbing her, them, in the back.
Layla had already lost her father, she can't help her wish to know how or why, but she could live.
She had met Marc, got married, and had a sweet baby girl. In a way she moved past her father's death.
She had a family of her own.
HAD!
Marc stole that from her!
Stole her new family! He ripped them apart viciously by leaving!
Of course she's livid!
Her sweet little baby girl nearly cried that first week that had gone by with absolutely no word from Marc.
At first, she thought he was on another one of Khonshu's missions. Sometimes they ran long. Normally it was no big deal. Sure, it was odd he hadn't said anything before leaving, but she understood how demanding that god could be. There were multiple talks and rants, the frustration with that topic alone could topple mountains.
So she had understood.
Key word, had.
Watching the frown appear on her daughters face when Layla said papa went on a trip was worrying, but not enough to draw Layla's attention.
Not yet, at the very least.
But when the week finished up and there were still no signs of Marc? Layla started to worry.
Worry that Marc was dead, long gone to a place neither could reach.
There is a saying that 'no news is good news'.
It's a Lie.
'No news' is Worse.
It's no wonder 'Hope' was in Pandora's box.
'No news' leaves you wondering what happened, how it happened, maybe even why. But you hold on to that hope, no matter how small. You pray nothing has gone wrong, every single day. You wait, holding your breath, 'One more day' you'll chant. 'I'll find out tomorrow' but when tomorrow comes? It's the exact same thing, making your worry and dread grow till eventually it slowly becomes a crushing weight. Hope, once an ally, has become the backstabber, the taunter, the solid boulder. It drives you crazy with 'what ifs'.
'No news' can mean so much more.
And it drags on in the most torturous of ways.
So when Marc didn't check in like normal, didn't warn her about the silence required on his mission, to keep them safe, she started to worry.
But their daughter, her little treasure who has fiercely loved her father for all these years, seemed to have noticed as well.
Layla never really knew just how much their baby girl paid attention to their comings and going. Honestly, she would have been impressed if those observations hadn't bothered her baby girl.
It had started small enough, a meal missed here, another skipped there. Her little girl sleeping in their bedroom, sometimes stealing some of Marc's shirts, the dirty shirts.
Layla didn't have the heart to scold her after the fourth time, not after that heartbreaking mumbled apology. She can't help but wonder where she learned those puppy dog eyes.
Not when Layla realized she hadn't seen her little girl in days.
Her child who would rather play outside with her father insread of watching a movie or play video games seemed to hide behind them now, almost obsessively. Layla's daughter Refusing to ride or even look at the swings, or anything that had to do with her activities with Marc. The tree he had caught her in was empty except for the leaves. The couch where she always slept on top of Marc now sat empty. The blanket now moved to the recliner. Touch no longer seemed to sooth her little girl.
The little hugger of the family just... seemed to ghost around the house.
The girl that would sing random songs while she baked family and friends treats, barely opened her mouth after the third week.
That finally snapped Layla out of it, enough to try ring Marc.
Good news, his phone went through.
Bad news, the asshole refused to pick up.
Oh, she didn't call him an asshole the first time she called, nor the second. But after the 54th call, 46 messages and 0 answers? Well, she naturally grew pissed.
Her messages started off sweet and worried, asking him when he'll be home, to, at the very least just let them know he's safe and that they miss him.
Then she started begging Marc to come home, their baby girl had passed out a d the doctor said it was from forgetting to eat.
That was the first and last time, for both her daughter and herself. Her baby girl now set timers to remember to eat and that message was the last time she begged Marc to come home.
He didn't care enough to come home, or he didn't care enough to listen. She didn't know which outcome was Marc's issue.
It didn't matter. He'd spectacularly burned that bridge.
At this point in time, it was more a matter of pride. She wanted to find Marc to drag answers out of that dick. And if he didn't have a good reason, even if he did, he would be toast. His answer would determine the level of burning she would do, if her daughter didn't do it first.
She could be quite vindictive when she felt it was necessary.
Layla was relieved when her baby came home from the sanctum one weekend with a massive smile on her face and an apology for worrying her mother on her lips. They had two long girls' day and spent those next two nights together.
Layla never asked what made her little treasure so happy. Too relieved that she had a better part of her daughter back.
Oh, her little girl was still sad, but not nearly to the extreme she was prior. Maybe she finally found a boyfriend at school or maybe she got a new friend. Layla had seen her little treasure wearing a small, thin red and gold bracelet with a small sapphire gem braided in as the master piece.
Layla hoped it was from a friend and not a lover. She didn't want to see her little girl that broken ever again.
If her father could cripple her, what would a lover do?
So Layla was relieved to see her daughter back on the swings, not as often as she had before, but it was enough.
So with one more thing settled, she could focus more on Marc.
And she was livid.
Harshly typing away on her keyboard, creating a long series of codes, a net of numbers.
Layla doesn't plan to leave anything to chance, all she needs is for Marc to pick up his phone one time. Even if he doesn't, this baby right here will slowly get closer each ring. A bit like the game Marco Polo treasure always made Marc play.
One way or another, she will get what she wants.
Fuck Marc's flightiness. She'll chase him to the end of the world if she has too. He owes them an explanation at the very least.
It's why she called her daughter back, in case they would have to go at a moments notice.
"Mama?"
With a few more key strokes Layla finishes and shouts over her shoulder, "In here, baby girl!"
There's a bit of shuffling before little treasure enters, "Could you hand me my cell, sweetheart?"
"Sure"
It takes no more than a moment, and with her daughters eyes following her, she connects her phone to her computer to start the download.
It's silent, and Layla can feel the slight tension in the air.
Really, it's at times like these that her little girl reminds her of Marc.
Letting out a sigh Layla relents, "I've almost got him."
She watches as her daughter perks up, "Really?!"
Layla can't help the mixed feelings forming in the pit of her stomach. For one thing she's delighted her daughter can smile like that again, for another Layla wishes it was she who could light up her daughters face. Though she can't really blame little treasure since she herself was a daddy's girl to begin with. "Really, Really." She quotes, earning a happy giggle from her girl, "Now why don't you get packing, we leave as soon as I can get a trace on the man."
She watches as her daughter freezes and turns back towards her and in a voice so quiet asks, "You mean, I can come with you?"
It's the unspoken 'this time' hanging in the air that makes Layla pause and look, really look at her daughter. The subtle hope hidden in her eyes that forces Layla to remember all the times her... their daughter asked if she could come. How she only asked once each time, never more, only once.
How?
How had Layla and Marc not noticed?
"Of course you're coming, -" her daughter's squeals of happiness and excitement cut Layla off. She watched as her little one ran off on quick, but surprisingly quiet feet. Layla would have smiled and shook her head, but not this time.
This time she just silently observed their little girl zooming to and fro, leaping over any obstacles. ...When was the last time her daughter was this excited? This free?
Pursing her lips, she nodded to herself.
Marc was in deep shit once she got a hold of him.

AN: sorry for the late update. Just finished this chapter. Wattpad deleted 2 chapters this one was included (nearly shit myself in rage luckily it was only deleted on the app and I saved it from the website? Have no clue how that worked, I'm just so glad it did) also got sick... still sick but what ever.
I'm actually really happy Layla stole the rains for this one, really mama bear surprised me and I think it helps explain why Layla was so pissed at Marc. Before it felt more like she wanted to find Marc for her bruised pride and wanting answers (at least for me)
Gotta do some research on the story plots (haven’t seen the whole thing and don’t want to follow word for word so bullet points! … I thought I was done with research 😫)
Thanks for reading! ☺️

Blurred Lines
jenna ortega x female reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: You and Jenna, best friends and actresses, are cast as lovers for the first time, tasked with bringing a romantic chemistry to the screen. But as scenes unfold, the lines between acting and reality begin to blur.
word count: 2.1k
a/n: This was actually the first Jenna story I wrote!
————
What are you thinking so hard about? Jenna asks plopping down in the director's chair next to you.
After being best friends for years, you and Jenna have finally gotten the opportunity to work alongside each other on your latest film Lovestruck, a romance film where you two are playing the lead couple.
You. You wanted to say, but you were 8 years too deep in the friendzone to truly say what was on your mind. "Just the next scene," you smile at her tiredly.
Her eyes light up, "I've been looking forward to this scene for so long!  God just look at that view Y/n!  I'm so jealous of Lalya," she sighs, referencing the character she's playing in the film. "Just who wouldn't love to be confessed to here," your co-star finishes looking over at you with sparkles in her eyes.
When your manager gave you the script for this project, you could only laugh at how much the story paralleled your situation with Jenna.  You were playing Quinn, a girl who has been in love with her friend for years, but couldn't do anything about it.  Eventually the mixed signals and watching the one she loves be with others got too much, and Quinn angrily confesses by the lakefront during a sunset; the view Jenna was fawning over just a minute ago.
You could only wish that the aftermath of any potential confession of yours could resemble the one in this film. Layla ends up reciprocating Quinn's feelings and it's a happy ending.
Unfortunately the universe isn't as perfect as an angsty teen romance, and is rather a sick minded individual who gets a kick out of meddling with people's lives. For years you and Jenna have auditioned for the same projects to play friends, enemies, even sister's but why is it that the one project both of you manage to land is this one?
"Y/n/n!"
Startled, you look over at the girl who's been trying to get your attention for all this time while you zoned out. "Y-yeah sorry. You're right. It would be a dream to be confessed to here."
She hums and stands up before placing a hand on your shoulder looking intently into your eyes, "I'll see you on set after the break, hope you bring your A game Y/l/n," she winks with a smile before walking off.
Jenna walks over to Andrew another actor working the film and immediately starts laughing and touching his arm in conversation.  You couldn't help but roll your eyes, but you also couldn't tear your eyes away from the scene that always happened to unfold in front of you.
It hurts you beyond belief watching your best friend interact flirtatiously with other people. Having to hear about rumoured boyfriends and especially having her not deny them. The mixed signals you got from the girl wasn't any help either, like what was that hand on the shoulder just now? The wink?!
You walk away trying your very best to calm yourself down before your big scene. Jenna frowned as she watched you walk away and towards your personal trailer.
————
The director calls everyone to set and has prepared to shoot the big confession scene. The crew helps you and Jenna find your places and fixes up any imperfections in your clothing. As you stand before your co-star you're hit with a strong wave of emotions. The 20 minutes you spent in the trailer wasn't much help, and now as you watch Jenna who is looking at you curiously, you make a realization.
You may never confess to Jenna. How could you? This friendship was the greatest you've ever had and you were aware of the fact that friendships like this one, don't come easy. It would be insanely stupid of you to confess your love and single-handedly lose a gem like Jenna completely. The more you thought about it, the interactions between Andrew, the rumours with Percy, and countless other boys, the more helpless you felt. There was no way she could feel the same.
"You okay?" the gentle voice you've come to love speaks.
You're silent.  She looks at you with her big doe eyes that you've come to love, but at this very moment you hate so much.  The concern in her eyes is pushing you off the edge.  You hated it.  You hated how her caring nature has only gotten you falling tenfolds harder. Why does she have to be good to me, why does she torture me like this you ask yourself.
"Y/n/n."
You look away, refusing to look into her eyes, scared of the emotions you'll find in them, scared of finding out how much more you could fall in love with her in this moment, so you settle on the view of the sunset.
The director begins a 10 second countdown to cue in the start of the scene and you're still looking at the sunset pondering. This may be the only time that you'll ever speak the words of a confession to Jenna. Yes, to her it'll be you performing the script, Quinn speaking these words, but she doesn't have to know that you will mean all the words you speak with every fibre of your being.
A light smile plays on your lips as you think about the performance you're about to give and how it should get you nominated for all the acting awards in existence. The lines of Quinn and Y/n have blurred, and you are playing no character other then yourself.
You won't be acting.
"Action!"
The scene begins and you start marching away from Jenna like the script told you to.
"Wait- Stop!" Jenna says frantically grabbing on to your arm.You roll your eyes, shrugging her off and continue walking.
"Why do you insist on hurting me?" She shouts, following the script.  You stop walking and pause. One beat. Two beat. Just like the script instructed. You turn around, glaring at her with more intensity than the script demands, "Me? Hurt you? That's rich coming from you."
Jenna hesitates, caught off guard by the seriousness in your voice, but quickly recovers, staying in character.
"Yes you asshole! I invite you to the lake house, and all you do is ignore me!"  Groaning into your hands, you speak your next line.  "Layla. You're joking right?"
"No Q, I'm not.  Do you even care about me?  It's my fucking birthday, and you're acting like I'm not even here, sulking in one of your moods and embarrassing me in front of my friends!"
"Then what am I?"
"What?"
You laugh, running your hands through your hair, struggling to keep your emotions in check.
"If those are your little fucking friends, then what am I to you?"
Jenna acted taken aback like she was supposed to, "My friend? My best friend? I don't know that's not the point! Wh-"
You cut her off, "But it is the point!"
You break the script.
You blink hard, letting the tears that were building up before the scene fall down your face.
Jenna had a look in her eyes that you've never seen before it was confusion and something else you couldn't pinpoint. Being the amazing actress that she is, she improvs her next line, so the scene can get back on track.
"Here you go again not wanting to address the real issue," she rolls her eyes.
You decide to stick to the script with tears streaming down your face. "I can't keep doing this anymore Layla," the words carrying the weight of years of hidden feelings. "Watching you with them, pretending I'm fine when I'm not. I can't just be your friend anymore."
Jenna's eyes widen, her character momentarily forgotten as she registers the raw emotion in your voice. "Quinn... what are you saying?"
You take a deep breath, letting it all out, the pain, the frustration, the love. You're about to do it and you hope that just for a second your performance will blur the lines for Jenna. "I'm saying that I'm in love with you, and I have been for a long time. And it kills me every time I see you with someone else, knowing I can't be the one to make you smile like that."
The silence that follows is deafening. You can feel your heart pounding in your chest, waiting for her response, both in character and out of it. The director's voice seems far away as he doesn't call cut, letting the scene play out naturally. For a moment you start to think that Jenna has forgotten her line, she's supposed to say, "For how long?"
But she goes off script.
She takes a step forward so she's only a foot away from you and takes your trembling hands (that you didn't even realize were shaking) in her own, an attempt to calm you down.
Jenna, as Layla, steps closer, her own tears glistening in the fading light. "Why didn't you tell me sooner, Quinn? Why did you let me go on thinking we were just friends?"
Your voice cracks as you respond, "Because I was scared. Scared of losing you, scared of ruining what we have. But I can't keep pretending anymore."
Jenna reaches up, gently cupping your face with her hands, her touch warm and soft. "You idiot," she whispers, her voice trembling. "How could you not know? How could you think for even a second that I didn't feel the same way?"
Her words hit you like a ton of bricks, and for a moment you forget that you're on set, that this is all supposed to be a performance. It feels too real, too raw.
"T-then what about everything I see? All those guys?" You say staying true to the script, but you couldn't hold your tongue and add, "The rumours? The interactions I always see?"
Jenna clearly seems taken aback by your addition to the script, and opens her mouth and closes it, at a loss for words.
You can't help yourself and continue, "Do you have any idea what it's like to watch you with other guys? To see you flirt with everyone else and feel like I'm just...invisible?"
Jenna's heart races as she realizes the depth of your feelings, the lines between the script and reality blurring completely.
Jenna continues, the rest of the scene now being pure improv. With tears in her eyes, "I wasn't trying to hurt you...Q. I wanted you to notice me. To see me the way I see you.
You freeze, your heart pounding in your chest. Jenna's voice is trembling, her gaze locked on yours, and for the first time you realize she's not just playing a role. She's confessing, right here, in front of everyone.
"I've been in love with you for so long," you get out through tears, "But all I've ever seen is you with them... like I don't even exist."
The shorter girl steps closer, dropping the last remnants of her character. Her hands reach up to cup your face, her touch gentle and filled with unspoken emotion.
"I didn't know how to tell you, Quinn. I was scared, so I tried to make you jealous, provoke you into action, hoping you'd finally do something. I-I was hoping you'd see how much I care. How much I...love you.
Your breath catches, your heart pounds in your ears, and you break character completely not caring anymore, in a trembling voice you ask, "You really feel the same way?"
Jenna nods, tears spilling over as she smiles, a mixture of relief and vulnerability in her expression.
"Yes, Q. I've always felt this way. I was just too scared to admit it... but not anymore."
You blink, struggling to process what's happening. This wasn't in the script—none of this was. But it's real, and it's happening now.
You smile through the tears, "Then let's stop pretending, Jenna. No more games... I'm yours if you'll have me.
Jenna lets out a small, tearful laugh, pulling you into a tight embrace. The cameras are still rolling despite your name drop, but none of that matters anymore. She pulls back just enough to look at you, her eyes shining with a love that's no longer hidden.
"I've always been yours. Always."
In that moment, you lean in, pressing your lips to hers in a kiss that's filled with all the years of longing and love you've both kept hidden. When you finally pull away, you're both breathless, tears of happiness mingling with the raw emotion of the scene.
The director calls "Cut," but neither of you moves, still lost in each other's eyes. For a moment, the set is silent, the crew unsure if they've just witnessed the best acting of your careers or something far more real. But you both know the truth—and it's better than any script that could have been written.

" Oh no." Miguel breathes out. He glances around the room. It looks horrible, it was too late.
The room was covered in blood. The chipped wallpaper had always been disgusting, but now it had a reek of death over it. He can only imagine how it went down here.
" Uhm, actually. She's still alive." Layla suddenly glitches into existence.
Miguel's eyes widen under his mask as he turns to her.
" What?"
" Yeah, she made it out alive. " She tells him, showcasing a security video taken out on the street.
And indeed, you were alive. Barely, but still. The cameras follow you until you eventually pass out into an alleyway. But something is wrong. The date on that tape dates back 2 years ago. That cannot be possible- Or can it?
" Who are you?"
Miguel turns around, claws jumping out as he turns to face the voice.
He's surprised as he comes face to face with you. You're in terrible shape. Skinny, bags under your eyes and dirty.
You glance at his claws before shaking your head.
" Trust me, you don't want to do that."
He cocks his head. Anyone with the injuries you had when you escaped your abusive household would be dead. He doesn't want to take his chances with whatever saved you.
" I'm Spiderman-"
" No you're not. I know that dude. He lives a few streets from here." You scowl.
You don't seem intimidated in the slightest. Still seated with one knee up to your chest in the window sill, your posture slacking.
" I'm from a different dimension. I want to give you a chance." He tells you.
You cock your head.
" A different dimension? And a chance at what?"
" Yes. A chance at living. You wouldn't have to be alone anymore."
" I'm never alone."
-
To this day, he doesn't know how he managed to convince you to join the spider society. You're one of the very few non spider people around.
So far, years have passed. He's gotten to know you a lot better. Your name is Y/N L/N. And you're the host of Toxin. The strongest symbiote he's ever come across, and he's come across Carnage. ( Which is also apparently it's 'parent' symbiote.) It also led to him bringing you on the team.
You're a complicated person, having been through a lot at a young age. You had been severely abused by your own parents for a reason he doesn't know (or would ever understand.) Your healing journey was scary, but you had hardened from your experiences, putting up a barricade around people. Thankfully, it crumbled since Miguel now had your back. It made Miguel soft towards you. The society he was building was small when he found you, making you one of the first members. Determined to not give you the fate of a future villain (like almost all the other symbiotes), he's kept you closely tucked in his side. Over time, he found a new chance in being a dad through you. Your own parents never guided you, and he finds himself all too eager to give you that guidance. And so you've been with him, watching as the society grew. And growing it did. Miguel watched proudly as you managed to make friends, and eventually helped guide other younglings just like he guides you.
You're also the only one who doesn't take his shit. And who's able to handle it. (The object he threw the one time he wasn't looking at whoever entered his lab, you had thrown it back at him. It had silenced him. He'd never admit it, but he was proud of that. Glad you'll never cower for people like your biological dad ever again.)
The only downside? Your choice of friends. Hobie caused trouble, and was all too eager in teaching you how to aswell. Gwen was okay. But she was also friends with Hobie, and Miles. And Miles was originally an anomaly. Sure, the boy was now part of the team, but still. The only one he approved of was Pavitr. And the random Peters you hang with often.
Truth to be told, he saw you as his daughter.
Currently, he was stood in his lab, glancing around at the screens. He truly had no idea what you were doing, but as long as you weren't putting shit on fire (you wouldn't, Toxin hates fire,) he's fine with it.
" Aye Miguel!"
Speak of the devil. With a symbiote web, you launch yourself onto his platform, two styrofoam boxes in your hands. You wordlessly set his down on his desk, as you often do.
" Thanks. What have you been upto today?" He asks, barely taking his eyes of the screen as he opens the styrofoam box and takes out an empanada.
You open yours, and immediately the scent of chocolate fills the rooms. It's overly sweet, and it lowkey stings his nose.
" Not much. Mostly training actually. You did anything fun today?" You ask him in return, leaning back against his desk.
Apparently you've managed to find pancakes. And hazelnut chocolate spread.
" Been watching the multiverse, nothing special. Where'd you get that? " he asks you.
" Made it. We were craving something sweet."
" Empanadas are sweet."
" Right, well, not pancake, chocolate, strawberry sweet-"
" There's strawberries in there?" He asks, glancing at it.
You hum. Picking up a piece and showcasing it to him. He admittedly can see a bit of a lump in the chocolate, but that doesn't really convince him.
" Yeah, want a bite?"
" No thanks, I'll pass."
" Kay' your loss. So I've been thinking-"
" That's worrisome."
You roll your eyes at his comment.
" Sure, whatever. Anyway. We should get a pet. I was thinking a cat, or a spider-"
" No. We already have spider cat. Also, basically everyone here is a spider. Why would you even think of a spider?" He grumbles.
Nothing he ever has read in the parenting books could ever prepare for whenever you open your mouth.
As he speaks, he finally turns to look at you.
You shrug.
" It'd be funny. A tarantula maybe. We could call her Webs." You tell him.
You're not even grinning. You're serious about this.
" I'm still lost. Why a spider?"
" I just told you. It'd be funny. A spider as Spiderpeople HQ's lil mascot. There's also these adorable jumping spiders. They're cute. And small. And a spider."
He sighs, rubbing his face in his free hand before deciding to give up and continue to eat.
" No. No spider pet at Spider HQ. You can pet Spider-Cat whenever he's here. That's more than enough."
As if to save him from this hard parenting moment, ( He kinda wants to give into you, give you the world, but this was just a blatantly bad idea. Even by your standard.) A new anomaly pops up on his radar. And coincidentally,  you just finished your food. ( You're always scarfing it down instead of eating it at a normal pace. Something that has to do with Toxin he believes.)
" What about a frog? Nah jumping spider's more fun-"
" No. No frog, no spider. Also, an anomaly just popped onto the radar. A Sandman variant. Earth-632. Have fun. Bring one of your buddies if you want, I'm here if you need back up." He tells you.
You hum, licking your fingers clean before wiping them on your pants.
" Can we eat them?" You ask as you start messing with your watch.
" No. No eating people."
" Was worth a try." He hears you mumble.
" No it really wasn't. " He tells you in return.
You roll your eyes.
" Whatever. Don't miss us too much!" You call before Toxin's form envelops you completely right as a gateway forms.
Soon enough you've jumped through, and Miguel finds himself opening up yet another screen to monitor your mission, seeing as you've gone alone.
A rare smile makes it once his face though. Yeah he's soft for you. And maybe he should look intk those jumping spiders. Just for the heck of it....
[ A/N: Am currently on Vacay so all my usual stuff is on hold for a bit. Also I've seen the requests and am working on them : ).]

Burden of Truth (Book 1) Chapter Two
Father Figure! Marc Spector x Teen! Reader
Father Figure! Steven Grant x Teen! Reader
Mother Figure! Layla El-Faouly x Teen! Reader
Chapter Two: In the Flat
Summary: (Y/N) goes to Steven Grant's flat in search of the scarab.
            “You must retrieve the scarab.”
Ma’at’s voice spoke directly into (Y/N)’s head as they sat on the bus out of the alps. (Y/N) pulled their phone and headphones out of their pocket. They slipped the earbuds in and pretended to be on a call.
“Harrow doesn’t have it. Marc does,” said (Y/N).
            “Marc?”
            “Khonshu’s Avatar.”
“I do not trust Khonshu to keep the scarab protected.”
“I can’t fight his Avatar for it.” That wouldn’t end well for (Y/N) at all, even if Marc claimed not to hurt kids.
“No,” Ma’at agreed. “But Harrow knows Khonshu and his avatar. The scarab isn’t safe there.”
That was true. That meant Harrow could track Marc or Steven down and put the scarab in danger.
“Right,” said (Y/N), furrowing their brow.
They couldn’t let Harrow get to Ammit. They couldn’t let him harm people. They couldn’t let him find the scarab.
They opened their phone and went to the search bar. Sorry, Steven Grant of the gift shop. I need to figure out where you live.
l
(Y/N) liked London roofs. They were very easy to sneak around on. (Y/N) was using that precise feature when they arrived at Steven Grant’s apartment. The poor, oblivious man left the window unlocked. (Y/N) opened it easily and slipped inside.
The entire room was covered in books—lots of Egyptian mythology, coincidentally—and filled with places to hide things. The moment before they could start looking, though, the lock clicked.
            Shit.
(Y/N) darted to the side and dove under a table. Most of the sides were blocked by various knickknacks and stacks of books, so, hopefully, this would keep them hidden for as long as possible.
            “She shouldn’t be here.”
(Y/N) frowned when they heard Marc’s voice. They peered out from between the books and saw a girl and Steven? Marc? No, it was Steven. The way he glanced at his reflection in the aquarium glass was too evident.
            Oh.
Just like (Y/N) could hear the truth of the deities walking among the people of Earth, it seemed they could hear the truth of Steven and Marc’s mind. Weird, certainly, but (Y/N) was the avatar of the goddess of truth. Half the population of Earth had been wiped out for five years before being returned. This was pretty minor in the grand scale of things.
“Get her out of here, Steven. You’re way out of your depth,” said Marc.
“Uh, is this your flat, Marc?” said the woman.
            “Um, I’m Steven,” said Steven.
“Are you living here with someone else?” asked the woman, staring at the cuffs on the bed.
            “No, no, no,” said Steven.
“Okay, so you guys are talking again?” said the woman.
Steven nodded, clearly having no idea what he was talking about.
The woman picked up a book. “Marceline Desbordes-Valmore?”
“Yep,” said Steven. He cleared his throat and spoke one of the poems in French. “I am sad, I want my light put out.”
“Summers in your absence are as dark as a room,” finished the woman and Steven together.
This is extremely awkward and weird, thought (Y/N), really wishing they knew where the scarab was so they could take it and leave.
“She’s my favorite poet,” said Steven.
“Um, no, she’s my favorite,” said the woman, frowning.
And they’re both being honest, thought (Y/N)
            “That’s mental,” said Steven.
The woman frowned and crossed to the desk (Y/N) was hiding under.
            Shit, shit, shit.
“So you’re learning French and hieroglyphics?” said the woman.
“Yeah, well, that’s not that impressive, really,” said Steven. “It’s not like hieroglyphs are a whole language. It’s more like an—”
            “An alphabet,” finished the woman.
“Yeah, and well, you still have to know ancient Egyptian to read it,” said Steven.
“Sure,” said the woman, humoring him but clearly irritated.
(Y/N) was really, really not enjoying this.
“For example, like this one here, right?” said Steven.
            “Funeral rites,” said the woman.
“Well, someone knows their unilaterals. You,” said Steven, attempting to tease and stumbling over it terribly. “That’s amazing.”
“Yeah…” The woman stared at Steven.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean that in a creepy way,” said Steven.
“No, I’m sorry. I’m not buying this, Marc,” said the woman. “Use whatever accent you want. Yeah. Let’s just get this over with.” She strolled over to the duffel bag and backpack they’d put down. “You sent these papers, but you never signed them.”
(Y/N) peeked out from beneath the desk. The backpack is hers—the woman was going through it with a sense of ownership—so that duffel bag… (Y/N) looked at it. A part of them—their gut, almost never wrong—told them it was Marc’s. The woman thinking Steven was Marc, knowing him, and bringing him back to his (Steven’s) flat supported that. Which means Marc probably hid the scarab in there.
“Did I? Uh…” Steven trailed off as he looked at the papers.
“This is what you wanted,” said the woman. “After everything, you told me that we needed to move on.”
I think Steven is dealing with Marc’s marital issues…
            “Divorce…?” said Steven.
“Yeah, we doing this or not?” said the woman.
“I would never divorce you,” said Steven.
Yeah, but you aren’t Marc, thought (Y/N). They pushed that out of their mind and focused. They needed to get over to the duffel bag.
Luckily, marital disputes made for good distractions, so while the woman and Steven spoke, (Y/N) moved from their hiding spot to behind the large bookcase.
“Marc, what are you doing?” said the woman, sighing tiredly.
“Look, you seem absolutely lovely,” said Steven.
(Y/N) looked between them and the duffel bag. So close.
“This Marc, on the other hand, is a right twit. Yeah?” said Steven.
            Marc scoffed in the mirror.
Damn, he’s going to see me. (Y/N) frowned. But unless he has control of the body, Steeven isn’t that much of a threat. The woman is an unknown, but if I’m fast enough, I’ll be on the roofs in a moment.
Steven took a step back and sighed. “I don’t know how to explain what’s been happening.”
            “Steven,” said Marc in warning.
            He’s also distracted, realized (Y/N).
They felt bad taking advantage of emotional distress—they’re felt enough of it themself—but they needed the scarab so that Harrow wouldn’t know where to find it.
“I don’t expect you to believe me,” said Steven, basically pacing.
“Steven, listen to me,” said Marc.
“I honestly don’t really believe myself,” said Steven.
            (Y/N) slipped towards the table.
“All I can do is try to show you what I found.”
“Steven, don’t, listen to me,” begged Marc.
“I found a bag of stuff,” said Steven.
“Don’t you dare. You’re gonna get her killed, you hear me?” said Marc.
“What’s in it?” said the woman.
            “Don’t say anything,” said Marc.
Steven couldn’t even look back at the woman, he was so nervous.
“If you show Layla that scarab, then you’re when they come after her,” said Marc.
            “What’s in it?” repeated Layla.
“Nothing,” said Steven, keeping his face turned from her.
            “I’ll just look for myself.”
“Wait, no,” said Steven, panicked, and he turned to grab Layla as she turned to head towards the bag.
Steven froze. Layla froze. (Y/N) froze.
“…Hi.” (Y/N) held the scarab tightly.
            “You?!” said Steven, eyes wide.
            “You!” said Marc.
            “Who?” said Layla.
“Y-You were there—in the village! You were in the van,” said Steven
“Is that the scarab pointing to Ammit’s ushabti?” said Layla, narrowing her eyes.
“Yes,” said (Y/N), moving towards the window slowly.
“Steven, you can’t let them take that. I have to keep it safe,” said Marc.
(Y/N) glanced at him, but Layla moved between them and the window before anything else could happen.
“Marc and I fought side-by-side for that,” said Layla. “I’m not letting you take it, even if he’s trying to do a whole one-man-show thing and keep it to himself.”
(Y/N) liked her spirit, but they had a job to do. “Sorry, but I need to keep this safe, and I don’t think it is with…Marc.”
            The woman glanced at Steven.
“I don’t want it!” he said, raising his hands. He was exhausted with it all. “I don’t want it! I swear. Either one of you can have it! I am not Marc Spector, and I want nothing to do with this! I’m just Steven Grant, and I used to work in a gift shop. All I want to is to get help because I’m in trouble.”
(Y/N) felt bad for him. Unlike Marc, he had clearly not been previously aware of the alter, and discovering that and all of the Egyptian-deity stuff was a lot.
“…Fine,” said Layla. “I believe you.” She looked at (Y/N). “But I’m sorry, I can’t let you walk away, either. I need to know it’s safe.”
“We all want the same thing,” said (Y/N), holding the scarab closer. “But I—I have a duty to justice. I can’t leave this here.”
“Steven, take it from them, just take it, it’s dangerous, and Harrow will come and become their problem as well as mine,” said Marc.
A knock sounded at the door.
Everyone fell silent and stared at it.
“Steven Grant? Can we have a word?” said a woman’s voice.
“See? They’ve come for me,” said Steven.
            “Why?” said Layla.
“I vandalized the toilet…” said Steven.
            The knocking continued.
Steven cleared his throat. “Yeah, just a minute.” He crept towards it and opened it a crack. “Yeah?”
“DC Fitzgerald and DC Kennedy here,” said the woman, showing her ID.
Truth. Even though (Y/N) was certain they were telling the truth, they took a wary step away from the door. They still didn’t trust the scenario. This felt too much like Harrow interceding with his many connections.
            “Yeah, one second.”
Layla ran for the window, and (Y/N) went with her after slipping the scarab into their pocket.
“Yeah, sorry, I’m having a bit of a day,” said Steven.
“Mind if we come in, Mr. Grant?” Kennedy didn’t wait for an answer. “Appreciate it.” She pushed in.
(Y/N) didn’t have a chance to escape with Layla and was left in Kennedy and Fitzgerald’s lines of sight.
            Oh, no.
For the first time in their life, (Y/N) was caught.

Sometime in December 2022 I asked for my readers of Transitions to make a mood board for the series and this is one of them. I appreciate the love everybody has for the series it means the world to me! Thank you @ihatemyselfmorethanmydepression for creating this

𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐀: 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞
Tumblr media
@fluffyprettykitty
From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)
I would give it a solid three, I think I write simplistic and descriptive enough to give a good story out there.
What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
I think the length? I have lots of people compliment me on my ability to write a conclusive drabble and short shorties and poems have always been my favorite to read.
Are there any writers that inspire you?
On Tumblr, I have been inspired by the first people who introduced me to fandom and taught me how to use my writing abilities. Some have deactivated by now but my most prominent writing inspiration is @outerspacious.
What’s the fic you’re most proud of?
Oh, it has to be my Layla story. Together. In a way, the story describes everything I have ever hoped for regarding a f/f relationship, like the dream of living with your loved one somewhere where you can only acknowledge your love in specific places.
Which character(s) do you find easiest to write and which do you find most difficult to write?
Oh, it’s so easy for me to write for Sam Wilson of course, and Frank Castle, Matt Murdock, Selina Kyle, and Brunnhilde. The most difficult is Gamora unfortunately, I would love to write more about her but I feel like I don’t have enough material to grasp on.
Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?
Love of course, first loves, falling in love, falling out of love, & a healthy dose of some toxic relationships.
Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about!
Very Excited about this toxic love kind of story I’ve been brewing in my head for a while now. Something about equally drawing energy over each other without ever acknowledging they are the one you need/want more.
First fandom you ever wrote for?
Beyblade! A thousand years ago when I was a teen <3
Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?
Once again I love writing about toxic relationships using people and completely draining someone out of their emotions. Maybe to get over past experiences cause it’s fun to explore “forbidden” feelings but it’s a fun process to write from that perspective.
A trope you’ll never, ever write for.
Hmmm, I never liked the soulmate trope I guess.
What is the wildest fic you’ve ever written?
Okay not here, but back in the Beyblade fandom I sued to write/keep the diary of one of the players and it was full of wild shenanigans and insane things that happened to him every day and it was just completely unhinged.
Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)
Any character I fancy x me is and will always be my favorite pairing cause I write for me <3
Do you listen to anything while you write?
I try to! I got some specific playlists for some characters such as Bruce Tony or Matt and then I got others I searched for based on vibes for the story I wanted.
One-shots or multi-chaptered works?
One shot.
Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!
I have! I had this whole thing in my head when I wrote ‘Party Tricks’ to sort of have the reader experience each one of the Avengers I guess in different situations and a couple of other ideas that have been lost in the void that is my brain.
15. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?
Ugh so many. I have some stories I have experienced that I want to turn into fics but I’m too shy to do it, unfortunately.
17. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?
Whenever I write about Bruce Banner I get the best compliments from some lovely people who you know just get *it* get the obsession.
Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?
I always try to push my comfort zone a little, the things I enjoy are limited so I always try to think in a way of the audience, of the other side, just look at anything a little more round rather than straightforward. It’s something I’d encourage anyone to do sincerely.
Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?
Oh, fluff for sure. For me, angst is only for that one day a month when you need to feel everything, fluff is my daily dose of happiness.
Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!
I don’t have OCs but I would love to venture into that at some point in my life.
If you could enter the universe of any one of your fics, which would it be and why?
Honestly, any fic, all are unique in a way and I just wanna get an in you know. But mostly I’d love to enter any kind of vamp au I’ve made, I feel like I’d get to know such a new and interesting kind of life.
Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?
I need to write the main thing in under one hour typing fast, no distractions, just pure focus. I guess learning what someone’s writing style is like teaches you a lot about that person and the sort of the fic they choose to write. But mostly I need to have the idea so vividly inside my head before I even attempt to write it, I can’t write a sentence per day, it needs to be at least 600 words.
Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.
From Human Connection
He was yours yet not at all at the same time.
Until one dark rainy night, he held your throat within the palm of his hand staring down at you asking you what you wanted from him.
And you didn’t reply. And your heartbeat rose and rose.
But he knew what to do to make you talk.
And when he crushed his body against yours, you knew.
You knew how people connected.
And within the time you’d explain to him who you were and what happened to you and he would swear on his life that no harm would ever be done to you again.
And then you became one of these people you used to so closely inspect.
Then you became his.’
Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!
You need to try to write about everything you dream of, no matter whether you’re going publish it or not or show it to a friend, I think many people can write and just are afraid to do so. Fandom and Tumblr give you such an opportunity to explore yourself and your talents through something so simple as dreaming about a character and writing about any situation. I wish more people weren’t afraid although the lack of acknowledgment from the audience is draining, finding friends and good people in fandom is a possibility, and joining incredibly well-mannered servers helps you even more!

anyone else (yeonjun x reader)
a/n: hiii!! Sorry if this was a bit too quick paced, I struggle with having a cohesive story, so hopefully this is enough for you!
summary: yeonjun and u at a party + jake = kiss and make up
warnings/genre: swearing, jealousy, slight (?) angst with happy ending, slight argument/banter, gn reader but if anything implies other wise lmk!
Tumblr media
“y/n!” A voice caller, as you turned around to see Jake bouncing over with a bright smile. “Didn’t know you would come to this company party, I thought you were busy today?”
“I cleared out my calendar, how could I miss a chance to see you?” you joked, as he grinned. Jake was a good friend, you two were introduced backstage after an event and hit it off. Jay always jokes and says he’s the “other woman” in your relationship, which is funny, but not to your boyfriend.
Yeonjun was practically crushing the cup in his hands as he watched you interact with Jake, your mouth moving quickly as your hands flitted around, excitedly talking. Did he make you that happy when you two talked? What’s Jake even saying to you? Why are you laughing so much? Jake gesturing over your body, his lips reading “you look good tonight,” made Yeonjun nearly scream.
“Ehe, jealous much?” Beomgyu teased, suddenly appearing at his side.
“You’re annoying.”
“You’ve been glaring at them for like, three minutes. It’s kinda obvious dude,” Beomgyu rolled his eyes. “Don’t be insecure over Jake, we all know he’s in love with Layla.”
“Do you know what they’re talking about?” Yeonjun asked, placing the cup down to cross his arms. Beomgyu shrugged, taking his cup and drinking a solid half of what was left. “Gyu, seriously? Get your own,” Yeonjun chided, Beomgyu snickering.
“And no, I have no idea what they’re talking about. Stop sulking around like some teen, you’re their boyfriend! They chose you! Relax!”
“No wonder you can’t get into a relationship,” Yeonjun huffed. He began to make his way over to you, hoping to pull you to his side for the rest of the night, always keeping a hand around your shoulder so everyone knew you were his. He doesn’t mean to be frustrated, and he certainly wasn’t mad at you, but he was mad that everyone seemed to be so in love with you when it was obvious he was your one and only. He better be at least, no way is he gonna let some random Australian steal his partner like that.
“If you ever break up with Yeonjun, you know I would be first in line,” Jake joked, you playfully gasping in response.
“As if, Yeonjun is-“
“y/n.” You looked over to see Yeonjun, who slinked over to your side and put his arm around you. He looked ridiculously good tonight, and you couldn’t help but stare for a solid second.
“Ugh, stop admiring your boyfriend so much, making me feel so single.”
“y/n just knows perfection when they see it,” Yeonjun joked, looking down at you before offering a slanted smile. “Wanna come with me to get more food?” You nodded, as he hurriedly grabbed your wrist and rushed you away from Jake, bringing you to a more secluded corner. “Tell me why you’re so willing to let Jake flirt with you like that?”
“He’s not flirting Junnie, it’s all a joke.”
“It’s not funny. You know he’s probably serious, he’d throw himself at you if you were single,” Yeonjun chided, as you clenched your jaw.
“I don’t get why you’re just so upset over unreciprocated, unserious flirting. It’s practically the same as you and that one trainee who’s always making ‘work wife’ jokes with you.”
“I don’t go out of my way to talk to her, I don’t even talk to her-“
“Jake and I are friends! Seriously,” you huffed before reaching up to hold his face between your hands. “You’re the only one for me. I don’t want anyone but you.” He placed his hand over your’s, expression softening. “If it makes you seriously uncomfortable, I can talk to Jake about it.”
“I just don’t like thinking about the idea of you ever leaving me for someone else.”
“Why would I leave for someone else? Like you said, you’re perfection,” you teased. He smiled, before leaning down a bit to give you a soft kiss, his physical expression of an apology.
“You’re right, as always. I’m sorry.” He pressed his forehead against your’s. “I just want you to be mine as much as I’m your’s.”
———
“Oh my god, it was seriously that easy? Yeonjun’s so bipolar!” Beomgyu groaned, gesturing towards the two of you in the corner, Jake laughing.
“Wish he knew how obsessed y/n is with him. They refuse to even think about anybody else.” And Yeonjun wanted to keep it that way, because he was just as obsessed with you.
