the funniest possible thing obviously is jyn and cinta staring from across the space!hilton bar at That Couple whom they can both Never Have and Pining Away and deciding to do something about it all to deal with the frustration. which ends up with cinta and jyn in a not particularly romantic but very emotionally attached (even if they will never admit it) sexual relationship and vel and cassian involved in a very awkward shape of polycule that is in rebellion terms common-law married for real

what no one has done nearly enough with is vel and cassian (or more likely, joreth sward or someone) having a lavender marriage for the Rebellion. vel needs a more convenient Cover for not being a nice heterosexually married Chandrilan Lady and the rebellion needs to sink another long term sleeper agent into the Chandrilan elite to pass money and information around. Vel and Cassian think they're going to kill each other in the first week or be immediately found out but the thing is that because they have a shared purpose and don't actively hate each other's guts they can grit their teeth and Bear It for the rebellion and in comparison to the *rest* of *real* Chandrilan couples this is an absolute dream relationship, so everyone's after Vel for marriage advice

Fruit Emoji Ask Meme Hi friend, thank yoooou!! :D 🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

I struggle with the greater majority of AUs honestly!! Part of what I love about this fandom is how claustrophobic it is. Characters who would never look at each other twice in any other situation are thrown together and forced to become some kind of family. It's hard to capture that in any other situation because we are not often confined to such a small amount of space long-term in our daily lives. Add in the fact that a lot of the character development comes from the boiling point of being confined somewhere against your will for doing nothing but living your life, as well as the growing level of trauma they experience the longer they are in Korea. How does the creator of the AU go about representing that same development? That's incredibly important to me.

That being said, I never go in for high school/college AUs at all. I will never read an AU where BJ and Peg never met/fell in love/got married because of how vital their marriage is to me, just like I don't read fics where they separate/divorce and will barely ever read ones where they are in a lavender marriage. Noir is a big thing here but that genre has never captured me in any form, so I don't read those. I am sorry to be such a picky downer ;v; It's miraculous that I got caught up in foxtrap madness at all because 9 times out of 10 when AUs get brought up, I will often just evaporate silently in the ship channel and let everyone else have at it haha.

Anything open relationship related. Anything. It can be vees, triads, quads, polycules, polyamory, relationship anarchy, solo polyam, swinging, etc. As long as I get to put multiple people together and not write infidelity angst, I am a happy camper.

Nightmare blunt rotation: The cursed creation of like. 4 people on a niche fandom discord. Polycule consisting of pretty much every adult character in the series. It's awful and somehow the best thing ever. The potential for both crack and angst is unmatched. The divorced parents energy is OFF THE CHARTS. Marcia realizes she is a morosexual and has a crisis about it. Gringe confronts his prejudices by falling for a no-good wizard. Jillie Djinn is Marcia's ex and also dead and also GHOSTING ON HER COUCH which makes it very hard to bring her boyfriends over. Marcellus tries to be dramatic about the fleetingness of human life (except his) and gets made fun of until he confronts his trauma instead. Sarah and Mrs Gringe are having tea and getting a break from the drama.

Gorlois/Nimueh/Ygraine: I am pretty sure that I am litetally the only person invested in this ship.

2 and a half of these characters are dead before the show starts. The last dies within season one. One of them is never seen on screen, and they definitely do not interact.

But. They must have at least known each other, in the past. (the very vaguely defined only alluded to past).

Oh, and the "a half"?

Well. Buckle in.

This particular rarepair hell started because I realized that there are technically 4 characters in this show sharing the identity or name of one mythological character - and wouldn't it be so interesting if two of them (the Villain Nimueh and Morgana's mother Vivienne) turned out to be the same woman? So many interesting implications. So much canon to be reevaluated. This is how I started shipping Gorlois/Nimueh, and it could and should have ended there.

...except halfway through that process I got sad and invented a self-indulgent modern au instead. And since it's self-indulgent, I decided that Ygraine would divorce Uther. And since they were already neighbours, and parenting half-siblings, Ygraine and Nimueh became closer and closer in my mind, until I decided to let them kiss aboit it. After all, nothing makes you closer than bonding about being upset at the man who cheated on you/lied aout being in an open relationship. (except maybe the codependent co-parenting lavender marriage I envision for Ygraine and Gorlois.)

And now I even ship them in canon. I suffer alone.

Well in my AU Francis has a platonic lavender marriage with Camilla (who is bi/lesbian). He also gets hired as charity to work for Felix Yusupov's (the Rasputin murderer) fashion house.

(He can just hang out with gay Ballet Russes guys and Russian nobles and occasionally model stuff. Yusupov is too lazy to work himself, he can empathize with other Superfluous Men.)

He just needs a rich patron tbh. Also in my fic Francis, Richard and Henry have a polycule, so Henry has enough money to support them all tbh.

there’s nothing more tsh fans would love than for richard and francis to have been together. but what y’all need to realize is that they never even had a chance, even if they loved each other back. francis’ grandfather threatened to cut the money supply if francis was gay, and he is far too lazy to work for himself, and so it would’ve never worked out.
