#lavabean thoughts

Oh friends this isn't my normal kind of post, but a lot of us are hurting or afraid right now.

There's been plenty of posts that have said it better but dear ones, lean into your community. Cultivate relationships with your neighbors, your local librarians, your churches and charitable organizations that help provide for others.

The hardest thing to do for a lot of us will be to leave the "us vs them" mentality the social media age has helped cultivate and see people as just that. People.

People with good ideas, people with bad ideas, but people who need community and who can change. Not all of us have the time or means to donate or volunteer, believe me I know. But dear ones, take the time to check on others and let yourself be taken care of too.

Communities are stronger together, and we all need that right now regardless of location.

Hold on dear ones, we get through this together.

Hey, so um that Kenobi's parents thing you wrote was super awesome and I adore it so much because I actually had something similar in mind and I thought that was amazing. So I was wondering if we could maybe have more of it? I'm sorry. It's just really cute.

there actually is more! On my blog, under the tag “Kenobi Family”, I wrote a fair amount of stuff with @arcticfoxbear and @i-lavabean . Stuff about Obi-wan’s four sisters, stuff about all the clones getting spontaneously adopted, and this  somewhat angsty thing

I was stuck for names, and I texted my brother-in-law and sister to ask for suggestions. Brother-in-law said "Radioactivepeasant."

I thought, "Y'know what, that is very unlikely to be already taken. Let's do it."

And I've been Radio ever since.

I can't escape the realization that it would be so easy for the good, protective, unconditional love of a parent to be twisted by fear into something else. I think of what I would do if my world fell apart the way Bode's did, what would I do to keep my little beans safe?

This is absolutely a time to hold fast to each other and our communities.

I speak as a library employee who knows difficulties are ahead -- and were already happening before yesterday. I speak as a person who has to plan for how to take care of my family in all this. Reach out, and hold on tight. Don't let go of each other. Don't let fear separate and isolate us.

Like Mr. Rogers used to say, "Look for the helpers".
