Blog Status

Hey friends!  If you’re finding me here (because of tagged posts or people reblogging), a big Hello and Welcome to you!

So here’s the deal.  Tumblr terminated my blog (just-another-busy-fangirl) on Tuesday, January 29, with no warning or explanation. 

I am still doing my best to contact them to fix this, as I am sure it is an error.

That being said, It’s been long enough now that my hopes are beginning to wane.  I’ve made this blog to serve as my “moving on” blog, in case I never get my OG blog back.

It’ll be a big move, but luckily I have almost all my posts, at least all of them through the end of 2018.  It’ll be a journey of re-posting things, but I’m ready to start.  You’ll notice that I’ve got nearly everything layout-wise just as it was on that blog, and I’m working to get my biggest posts rebuilt (i.e. Masterlist - albeit with all AO3 links).

Bottom line is, keep your fingers crossed that I get my old blog back.  That’s what I really want, in the end.  I’ve curated and worked on that blog for 6 years now, and I hate to “lose” it (even if I do still have most of the content).

I’m not going to start promo-ing this blog as a “I’m back, follow me here” yet, just because I still have that sliver of hope.  But maybe next week...I’ll be asking for my old followers back.  I miss you guys.

Some Blog Reminders

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to make a post to remind everyone of things happening on/around my blog:

First of all, I’m staying on tumblr.  I enjoy tumblr, even with its problems, so I’m not going anywhere.

I am also on AO3 and Pillowfort, as well as active on Discord.  All of my writing is on AO3, and I’m linking things on PF as I post them. (Still figuring out PF, tbh.)

My tag system is a living doc, and I’m not re-doing it ever, if I can help it.  If you’re new around here, feel free to sign up for my tags.  I haven’t really promo’d that since January, so a yearly reminder is probably good, right?  There are many people who have signed up for my tag lists and since been removed when I couldn’t tag them - if you want me to try tagging you again to add you back on, let me know! (Especially with all of the changes as of late, I might be able to tag you again!)

Requests are open-ish.  I’ve got multiple bingo cards going on at any given time, and those are my priority.  If you have requests related to bingo cards, they’re more likely to get written!  Feel free to send in requests, though, as sometimes my muse will like your ideas and run away with them!

My 365 Days of Classic SPN is finally coming to an end on Dec 31 (it actually ended up being 2 x 365 days), and I’m taking a bit of a break from the daily screencaps after that.  I am planning on doing shorter runs - some 30 days and 100 days - of themes later on, to be announced.  If you have any requests for themes, let me know.  Since those will be shorter, I’m more likely to do more elaborate edits than just screencaps.

Fic Recommendations are being posted every 2 weeks.  This will continue until I run out of fanfic to read! :) 

(Oh, and PSA... if your fic isn’t formatted, either not into paragraphs, or without a title that’s separated from the body of the text, or without a ~readmore~ if it’s long, or without a clear beginning of fic and ending of fic, I’m not even going to try to read it.  I read for enjoyment, and if I’m having to figure out what I’m looking at for more than a handful of seconds, I just close the browser and move on.  Sorry if you’ve been tagging me in things and I’ve never rec’ed it, but that’s probably the reason.  Add a little bit of formatting to your header/body, and I’ll be more likely to read it!)

What are your thoughts on Ragtime? Next to Normal? Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat?

Ragtime:I haven’t had the chance to see Ragtime live, but I enjoy the soundtrack.  From what I know about it, I think it’s a wonderful commentary on society in the early-mid 1900s.

Next to Normal:Incredible, obvs.  Again, I haven’t had a chance to see it, but I’ve watched tons of clips online and the like.  Music is awesome.  Sometimes I don’t like ‘rock and roll’ musicals, but I do like the music for NtN.  Between Diana and Dan…I feel like this is a very real story that needed to be told, and lots of people can relate to it so well.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:I love this show.  I think that spawns from a childhood yearning to be in the show, but since then has blossomed because of my love of all things Andrew Lloyd Webber.  I’m also a sucker for a musical that has little-to-no spoken scenes, and this is one of those.  Also, Donny Osmond.  Hehe.

Thoughts on Little Shop of Horrors? I'm in a production rn and its probably my favorite show that I've done

I LOVE LITTLE SHOP

My very first solo I ever got in a school choir thing was “Somewhere That’s Green” in 8th grade… That brings back some memories…

But seriously, it’s such a fun show.  It’s funny, and touching, and I love the music (b/c duh Alan Menken is amazing at everything he ever does…) and Seymour is so adorable and it’s just so good.

It’s on my want-to-direct-someday list, but the cast is so small… (My school usually has humongous shows, with tons of chorus members, and LS doesn’t really go with that... *le sigh)

But I am so excited that you’re in it, and I want you tell me all about it.  Who are you playing?  Is it school/community?  What’s your favorite song?  How are you guys creating Audrey II - is it a puppet or an animatronic or somebody in a huge constume, or what?

Please let me know, because I have to know everything. Thanks for your question!

MUSICALS??? YOU JUST GOT INFINITELY COOLER HOLY CRAP, which I literally did not think was possible.... Okay. So what's your all time favourite musical? Favourite character? Favourite song?

Hah infinitely cooler?  My students would laugh…

Yes - I teach high school choir and I direct the musicals every year.  I’ve been in quite a few shows myself, but have found that I like directing even more - it gets me even more involved than if I was just playing one character.  And I conduct the orchestra (which is always a thrill, since I usually conduct choirs, not instruments…)  And I go and see as many shows as possible, to get ideas.

SO, to answer your questions:

Favorite musical:

This is always my answer for my kids, so I know exactly what to say here: I actually have three, from totally different genres, so I refuse to choose between them.  My Fair Lady is my favorite ‘classic’ musical.  Kinky Boots is my favorite ‘modern’ musical.  All Shook Up is my favorite in-between.  I will not choose between them. :)

Favorite character:

My favorite character I’ve played has to be Baroness Elsa Schraeder from Sound of Music.  I LOVE playing the bitchy roles.  My favorite character that I would like to play is Marian the Librarian from The Music Man.  I’ve wanted to play that role since I was a kid.  

Favorite song:

Impossible question.  Depends on the mood.  I guess one of my favorite songs to perform (that I could pull out at any moment if prompted) is “Old Devil Moon” from Finian’s Rainbow, or I could always give you a great rendition of “Goodnight, My Someone” from The Music Man, just to prove to you that I would make an awesome Marian.  lol.
