havent drawn her in a while. slightly redesigned her outfit to look better in my art style, hopefully she looks stylishhhh. was nice doing something with flat colors for once, i feel like i always expect myself to do complicated ass rendering all the time

Pulled out my portable sketchbook and remembered these doodles I did earlier this year. Please trust me that I knew what I was going for when drawing these two, it’s just the first try isn’t always your best.

Time for the second Lord of Shadow! The Lord of Vampires, Carmilla! She shows up technically in both games, but I'll go into detail later on that.

So, I'm not certain about her part in the main series, but these are a few pics that I could find of her!

Honestly, I love these designs! I think these really fit her personality! Of course, again, I only know what she's like in LoS. Now, in LoS she shows up in three different forms. So in order: Her Lord of Shadow form, her beast form, and her human form.

I love her battle in LoS1, but she is the easiest Lord to win against in my opinion. When I first played through the game, Cornell took me seven tries, and I beat Carmilla on the first try. In LoS2, the castle uses her human image to try and seduce Dracul back under its control. You do get a game over if you accidentally pick her over Marie. Her stealth maze section is one of the most painful things to go through. The only one more of a pain is Agreus.

Getting back to her in LoS1. She is a fun boss, the final QTE for her is SO good! That scene is one of my strongest pieces of evidence that Gabriel probably wasn't a human to begin with. She has sired a ton of vampires in LoS1, including a child she kidnapped and adopted, and demons as well. It also states, that in a moment of remembering who she was, she imprisoned Frankenstein and Olrox uses him as an endless blood bag. Anyway, these are the vampires that you face off with!

Starting with the basic vampire. One holy water, and you can insta kill them, nothing super special.

Next comes the Demon-Vampire Brothers, Brauner and Olrox. They are known as ancient vampires, which are demons who were summoned on Earth, possibly by a certain Bernhard, and got turned into vampires by Carmilla. Brauner and Olrox are the only two you face off against. Also, there is a puzzle with Olrox's blood when you defeat him, and if you had a TV like mine at the time, make sure your brightness is as high as it can go. Brauner on the left, Olrox on the right.

Then there is Laura. Laura was a child, around the age of 9-12, that Carmilla kidnapped and turned. Your introduction to her is her challenging you to a game known as the Vampire War Game. Admittedly, it's difficult but really fun. However, she is a very important character. She is also one of the rare cases, where you can play as a character that isn't a Belmont. During the DLC of LoS1, she calls Gabriel and has him help her defeat a demon known as The Forgotten One. However, in order for Gabriel to face off with said demon, he needs to be turned. Laura gives him the curse of Vampirism, and Gabriel grants her eternal rest. She also battles Gabriel with living rag dolls, and they are the most difficult things in the castle, next to the chef. Anyways, this is Laura!

Also! In LoS2 there is a hidden room in the castle, known as the Forbidden Room. Inside this room are two tombs. One is dedicated to Marie, the other one is dedicated to Laura. So Gabriel did think highly of this child, and clearly he adored her enough to dedicate a space in the same area as his beloved. I still think he saw her as a daughter, and that is a hill I will die on. Oh, yeah this is what I could find of her in the main games, where she is an adult character:

The village was quieter, when Shanoa was off to one of her missions.

She was not a woman for conversations, which Laura didn't mind: she enjoyed talking, and she could tell that the other still listened to what she had to say. With time, she had even learned to read her subtle expressions, the twitches of her eyebrows, the way she cocked her head...

Sure, Laura was still eagerly waiting the day that Shanoa would crack a smile. She was confident that the woman would look radiant. But she wouldn't force it. It would make it all the more precious when it happened.

The bell on top of the door rang.

"I brought you the onyx and diamond you asked of me," a familiar voice announced.

Laura beamed. Shanoa could easily blend in the surroundings, with her dark armor, the long mane of black hair flowing behind her, and her apparently unassuming personality. And yet, her presence was tangible in the village: she was a kind, selfless person who could make everyone happy.

Well. Laura could only speak for herself, she mused.

Trevor had been entrusted with the sacred whip of his forefathers, the Vampire Killer. A strong, flexible weapon with which Trevor could shatter stone and the flesh of cursed creatures alike. He did not need to dash around the battlefield, when a single crack of the whip would send monsters run away in panic, and bring the braver ones to their knees.

Alucard, on the other hand, had a preference for swords. He could also use the dark powers inherited by his father, but Trevor was not surprised by the dhampir's reticence to resort to such means. With a hand behind his back, he counterattacked Trevor's blows with a long, thin rapier. Alucard danced on the field, with a speed and a grace that belied the inhuman strength behind his strikes. When he targeted a monster, they didn't even have the time to flee before being slashed to pieces by the dhampir's blade.

An elegant deadly weapon, for an elegant deadly friend.

It's mostly girls/women yay. As for Richter, he's not human in any of these lol.

📽️ Along for the Ride (2022)

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I thought it was going to be like To All the Boys I Loved Before (which I liked but didn’t love), but it wasn’t really. I’ve never read the book which apparently was an advantage because a lot of people who read the book weren’t fans of the movie. It’s not like this was anything earth-shattering or life-changing. It was your typical coming-of-age, first love story. It was sweet and easy to watch.

Sex/nudity: 2/10 (swimsuits, kissing)

Language: 3/10 (a little bit of most things, at least one f-word)

Violence: 0/10 (I don’t remember any)

Overall rating: 7/10

Drawing this made my face hurt, but I wanted to do some more prompts based on dialogue by the folks from Wygol Village. This also let me do some much-needed retakes on a few faces.

I have this mental image of Gabriel brushing and braiding Laura's hair while she works on her sewing, and I can't get it out of my mind. Enjoy this short!

The brush was soothing. Familiar. Mother used to brush Laura's hair, only to then put it up. She claimed it was to show Laura's status, but to also keep it from getting grabbed by any pesky intruders. Laura never let her mother cut her hair, so this was their compromise. At this point, Laura couldn't remember why she was so attached to her hair, but at least Mother had respected her choice to not cut it.

But Mother wasn't here anymore. One of those pesky intruders had managed to finally end Mother's reign of terror, only to start his own. But she couldn't hate him. No. Even if he had killed her mother, she loved him like a father. He had saved her. Had saved humanity. He wasn't given a hero's welcome. No. He took the curse and sacrificed his own humanity. He was her father, even if she was his dam.

His hands were soft, despite the blood coating them. They gently brushed her hair. He never complained about the length. Never told her she needed to cut it. Never forced her to compromise on it. Each stroke was the bond they shared. He had no kids. She had no parents.

Laura's hands stilled on the doll she was sewing. The brush paused. She leaned back, looking at the man who had taken her in. His once brunette hair, now as black as hers. His skin was as pale as hers. His eyes... His eyes were red, no longer those deep blue. Father looks down at Laura and pressed a small kiss to her forehead.

He was more affectionate than Mother had been. More careful with her. She was treated like a child, but he respected her more than Mother had. He took her thoughts into account. He played games with her. Deep in her mind, she recalled feeling this before. A long time ago. But that time had long since passed.

She smiled and said, "I love you, father."

He simply smiled back at her and replied, "I love you too, daughter."

She turned back to her project and started sewing. This time with a smile on her face. He went back to brushing her hair, braiding it in ways Mother would've hated.

Life was good for Laura and Dracul, and this little bond they created with each other.

I'm not surprised but still disappointed that most of the fandom not only barely knows her, but doesn't appreciate her character because she's emotionless for the entire game. That's the point. She is also victim of dehumanization and being groomed to be a weapon - she claims to be such! When she calls herself the morning sun, that's both a badass boast, and just so damn depressing because this poor woman has lost her entire family and self and now her only goal in life is defeat Dracula at the cost of her life!

But even if her entire life was her being groomed to be a weapon, she still shows an artistic streak if you do the quests in Wygol Village. While the ending is depressing, at least I can imagine that she'll live her life there, with all the people she has helped and that have welcomed her <3

also she's just cool. She looks very different from the characters Kojima has designed, but still fitting within the universe - her hair 🥰 the feathers 🥰

I think she and Hector would be good friends. They're eerily similar. They could bond over cats :3

Laura:

I don't know much about her, but I know that this poor girl deserved better in life. If I understood well, she was basically a young girl trapped in immortality, and that is inherently scary and tragic. She gave away her cursed life for the sake of her friend, someone who could understand her pain...

(... I've just realized that she is Lenore written well gdi well now I need to study her)

Gabriel:

What I said :P from what I've learned about him, he is precisely the kind of disaster mess who tries his best I keep falling for, like Guts, Barok or Hector. But like, if they actually became villains at some point. A fascinating way to make Dracula tragic, certainly more well thought out than a certain other version of the character :P I just have a sore spot for those highlyy flawed characters who are perfectly aware that they've fallen low, but don't know how to get better, but by God they will find a way.

Gabriel: Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons. I think he'd enjoy the chill atmosphere and farming systems in game. Also resource management.

Trevorcard: Legend of Zelda or the Chrono Trigger/Xenoblade/Sword of Mana series. He'd enjoy the story and the rpg elements.

Laura: War games. Age of empires, Civilization, Settlers of Catan. She canonically already plays these style games, so she'd take to them quickly!

Victor: I feel deep down, he'd adore games like Assassin's Creed and GTA. He'd also like online games like Among Us or Lethal Company.

What games are they playing?

Leon: Assassin’s Creed. He really loves his history.

Trevor: Final Fantasy or other RPGs. Also games he can play with multiple people. So probably D&D and Overwatch? He loves his friends :)

Simon: Doom Series. What more could he ask for than heavy metal tunes and slaying demons? As for something softer, he would like fishing simulators if he couldn’t go out and fish for reals.

Juste: Animal Crossing, hands down. The man would want that froggy chair! Also Grand Theft Auto, but I have no idea why that popped in my head, so take that with a grain of salt...he's a man of two worlds lol

Richter: Kirby Series and Earthbound. Cute designs but have a dark side to them.

Julius: I think he would enjoy Magic: the Gathering. It’s one of those games that uses tons of strategy and utilizing power which to me fits him quite well.
