Sunrise Children's Hospital ER Mural

Here is one of my murals from the summer of 2023.

The idea for the mural came to life through the collective vision of the department's staff. After an exciting brainstorming session, the consensus was reached on a space-themed mural with a modern spin on the beloved children's series "Magic School Bus." The staff at Sunrise Children's Hospital Pediatric ER are not only healthcare professionals but also empathetic individuals driven by their own experiences as young patients. Witnessing their compassion and dedication was truly awe-inspiring.

"LOST SOULS"

After seven years of painting in and around Haifa, The Broken Fingaz crew—made up of Deso, Kip, Tant, and Unga—began to expand their horizons and soon gained worldwide attention. Drawing inspiration from comic books, skateboard graphics, and tattoos, Broken Fingaz compositions include frequent references to period iconography like pulp fiction, B-movies, and pop art. They told @Wdwlls they steer clear of politics and while their work often contains elements of brutality it's "almost always depicted in funky colors, adding a sense of hilarity to the piece." While I'm not sure how well the concept "Lost Souls and Broken Dreams" reflects the theme of the @LifeIsBeautiful festival this Ogden Ave walls seems quite appropriate for the Downtown Las Vegas setting of the @JustKidsOfficial curated event.  @brokenfingaz/

For the 20th anniversary of American Society of Concrete Contractors’ Decorative Concrete Council, they wanted our team to add a live graffiti entertainment element to their event, tying into the theme “Everything But Gray”. Our artist took inspiration from ASCC’s portfolio of decorative concrete architecture to create a fictional world showing more traditional forms of gray concrete transforming into the more engaging and enticing world of vibrant and colorful decorative concrete. With finishing touches of the artwork completed live onsite, the final piece was auctioned off to guests at the end of the event. JUST KIDS X FELIPE PATONE 

Just Kids Official aided in the development, curation, and production of the first ever solar-powered mural in a beautiful collaboration with the artist, Felipe Patone. It debuted during the Life Is Beautiful festival— this public art project has now become a landmark of downtown Las Vegas and completely transformed the communities relationship with the area, which had remained obscure and neglected for decades.

"JOIE DE VIVRE"

Born in the French West Indies Pwoz was touched by the world of graffiti at a very early age. As a teen he left his island for Paris with a dream: "to paint big and to paint it all," and while studying architecture and interior design he says he spent his nights learning the rules of graffiti. Launching the @Kosmopolite_Officiel/ graffiti festival in France, Pwoz has hosted more than 700 street artists and over the course of the 11 festivals has painted alongside the world's most recognized graffiti artists. Now based in Las Vegas, Pwoz told @SensiMagazine he considers himself "a contemporary Sumerian searching for the perfect pictogram." Not sure what parallels Las Vegas may have with Sumeria but painting his first wall in his new city Pwoz's dance party at Colorado Ave and Main St celebrates the joy of life that draws so many to its lights.  @thepwoz/

"WILD WASTE"

Based in Lisbon Artur Bordalo, aka Bordalo II, is developing a large following, not only for his artistic ability but his passion for the environment and his use of discarded objects to make powerful statements about the very animals impacted by our waste. In 2018 Bordalo was in Downtown Las Vegas where @Zappos sponsored his most ambitious project to date, created for the @JustkidsOfficial curated @LifeIsBeautiful festival. Transforming 10,000 square feet of abandoned 1950s motel into a disturbing zoo parody, @Designboom Magazine reports his "Wild Wild Waste" installation included "a massive whale tangled up in a fishing net, a lion confined in a truck, a flock of penguins sitting on plastic cubes, and a panda family made from car parts." Bordalo II created this impressive signage installation for the N 7th St facade of the project.  @b0rdalo_ii/

"THE WYLDE”

When not busy running Las Vegas-based @Zappos, Tony Hsieh— @DowntownTony —also found time to launch the Downtown Project and Las Vegas @ReviewJournal reports he has invested $350 million into Fremont St area real estate and businesses—including a recently completed $2.5 million renovation of the 88-room mid-century modern @DowntownerLV Motel on N. Eighth St. Amid a burgeoning street art scene the motel also serves as canvas for multiple installations in the outdoor gallery of Downtown Las Vegas, including this 2017 collaboration by tattoo artists Anthony Ortega and Brett Rosepiler. Reno-based Ortega says he’s inspired by psychedelics to push his use of color to new levels, both in his tattoo work and his murals. One of eight artists at @HeritageTattooLV Rosepiler has 14 years of experience and a “deep rooted love for art” that shows through in his work.  @anthony_n_ortega/  @brettrosepiler/

Originally from Lithuania Egle Zvirblyte has worked in set design and later focused on illustration. After living in Melbourne, Tokyo, Bali, and Barcelona Zvirblyte is now based in London where she produces work for advertising, publishing, and product and event design, as well as painting walls and exhibiting her artwork globally. Zvirblyte describes her work as bright, punchy, and irreverent and @Wdwlls describes the eccentric figures of this work for @LifeIsBeautiful in Las Vegas as “a narrative about the creation process, vulnerability, desire, and female empowerment.” Painted in September, 2018 the wall is at City Center Motel on N 7th at Fremont St.  @luckybananapress/

When @MURALFestival in Montreal invited followers to vote in their inaugural 2018 International Mural Awards Competition, Sebastian Velasco’s work in Las Vegas came in number one in the photorealistic category. The Spanish graffiti artist turned contemporary figurative painter was inspired by the words of poet Jessie Crisis, capturing the nightlife mythology and lights of the city, along with its unique street culture. This Stewart Ave diptych for the @JustKidsOfficial curated @LifeIsBeautiful Festival was Velasco’s first in the United States and one can’t help but also wonder if it also reveals something about his experience in Las Vegas.  @sebasvelasco1/
