Coffee, contemplation and more coffee.. 😉 . . Painting “Letting go” 2016 Oil-, and acrylic on canvas 39.5" x 47.25" by Philip de Rooij . Story behind the painting. . Sometimes in life you have to let go. People, things, thoughts, a certain way of living, stuff, etc. Letting go of my own self inflicted- and public boundaries are also one of them. . After creating dozens of paintings in different styles and techniques, and way to much coffee, eventually this painting was created. It’s almost like a collage and the coffee literally became part of it. Therefore the serious subject became much lighter. Since I have two kids and little to no sleep, I needed a lot of coffee to get by.
