Cannot emphasize enough how compelling Lane is to me with her genuine coldness and pragmatism. When she was sincerely thinking about throwing Greg off the snowmobile but only stopped because the crew was there to witness it and she would face repercussions? She would have remorselessly gone ahead and done it had that been not the case. And then she genuinely flirted with Greg the very next moment because her willingness to save herself over Greg doesn't say much about how she feels about Greg, whether he is good or bad, whether she finds him annoying or interesting, it just means that she fucking wants to survive. She often has to fake emotions to fit it even when in all honesty, she doesn't feel a thing. How this is her being insecure about herself for being different than others instead of being a sociopath.

All of this and still the past Lane is a mystery. Because at the moment clearly a lot of fucked up things are going on with her so we can't accurately tell - ugghhhhh.

Love her so so much actually. Relatable. Iconic. Hot. Smart. Impeccable fashion sense. My love.

lane getting a tiny glimpse of her memories during the fire in the final episode made me think of something from season one that i’d totally ignored before because it didn’t seem to make much sense or mean anything...

yeah, i'm talking about that moment when cain burns a couple of useless books with the dumb excuse of "keeping lane warm"

the fact that from the very beginning, in indirect ways like this (or more direct ones, like at the start of episode two when he asks if she remembered something, "me for instance?"), cain has been so focused on lane and her memories. i usually hate the amnesia trope, but i actually think it’s really well-written here ?? it works so well with their dynamic and adds that extra layer of melancholy to the angel’s character. i love how we were all surprised the first time we got a hint that they knew each other before (i think it was halfway through season one), because rereading the story, you can see the clues were always there in the small details.

so... can we assume that whatever tragedy separated these two involved fire somehow?
