When I was first building my Balor in Lancer, a big thing I was contending with was HOW SLOW THESE BEES ARE. Balors are so dang slow, but I was really struggling with fitting movement into my build because it disrupted many of my other plans.
Then my good good friend, our medic character's player, defended from the heavens with a note that said "I'm running Lancaster" and freed me from my worries so I could focus on being a big painful bee-ful lump of awful. Thank space mech God for Lancasters and the permanent umbilical cord that is the winch system. I point on the map and say "mother I wish to play with them over there" and she says "buckle up baby bee boy" AND LAUNCHES ME 7-8 HEXES ACROSS THE MAP YIPPEE.
But that's not all. My good friend and I came to a realization, after she picked up Fomorian, that we could give back to our community. Through the power of Houseguard 2 and Bonded 1, so long as we are winched together we give each other +2 to our saves and checks and are a max 11 hex wall of hard cover. Needless to say our Calliban, tiny fierce son, will never be messed with. No bullying allowed.

Me in every other RPG I've ever played, all of which have myriad support and heal options: HAHAHAHAHA BURN IN THE FLAMES OF MY SMASHY FIRE SWORD AND DIE BY MY WILL!
Me immediately upon picking up Lancer, a game with one (1) healbot and it's like if Engi TF2 had Medic TF2's crossbow: B-but... I wanna make sure my fwens don't die 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

i need help. i saw either one of your posts or someone else’s post about lancer mechs and i saw this one that kinda looked like a pangolin and i don’t know it’s name to look it up and the databases for lancer mechs are not being forthcoming with me. a friend of mine wants to run a game of lancer with us and i want to run that mech but i can’t find it

Is it one of these? These are the only five mechs I can even remotely describe as "pangolin-shaped."

this is scarier then most HORUS pattern groups
Okay I have a crazy idea!
Lancaster, but not a horse. Like it has arms and only two legs. Do you think it's possible?
1. Why would you want to do that
2. It’s hilarious I’ve done it
3. I’ll send you the code inject to modify the printcodes

Very excited to have a member of the Lancaster design team on the omninet. One of my favourites.
A friend of mine regularly uses it's Cable Winch System. Although it works very well, it gets cut semi-regularly, so we've always asked ourselves if the nanocarbon-weave can be replaced by alternative materials. We have a lot of arachnosynth threading lying around, but aren't sure if it can offer up enough stability without the nanocarbon.
I have no real expertise with these two materials specifically, so I was hesitant experimenting with it. Ressources are not limitless after all.

Arachnosynth is a pretty solid substitute, but you're right about the stability issue. It's quite stretchy, so you'll probably want to thread it with something else to solidify it a bit. You could try whitewash if you don't have any other threads, but that'll obviously be quite expensive in another way. My best solution would be to hybridise it with what you've got left of the weave, which should give it the durability you're looking for without the adjustment time of learning to use a really stretchy winch.
