Jing Manor is the lavish imperial home of everyone's favorite huli jing emperor, Yao Huangdi, his friends (Team Dimple) and his close huli jing associates, who are a part of the harem. Basically he has a great huli jing army, eunuchs, servants, caretakers, and other fox spirits under him. In addition, they all would take the opportunity in pampering him, and making sure that he's comfortable. Despite being a diva who loves this type of treatment, he was still kind to everyone~ and respected them and their work. Yaoyao have never once forced them to do anything like this.

Yes he would request those kinds of treatment, but it's ok if they don't want to do it. So all the pampering was due to free will and free will alone.

And as for the huli jings who live in and around the Manor, as well as his empire, they appear as ordinary cultivators hiding their identity. Then some playful huli jings would remain in their fox form, pawling over the place and causing mischief.

They’re at a party. Well, a banquet, which is essentially the same thing. There is a fair share of drinking and reveling going on, with some cultivation juniors getting rowdy. Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao end up outside together, taking a walk to take a break from the noise. Lan Xichen asks him why people get drunk, as if it’s a sort of philosophical question—which to him it is.

Meng Yao doesn’t mind playing question games with him. Lan Xichen is the only one who has always listened when he spoke. He says that people drink because it makes it easier to be around other drunk people. Lam Xichen laughs at his joke—he laughs at everyone’s jokes, but it still makes Meng Yao smile.

Lan Xichen asks him what it feels like to be drunk. Meng Yao stops on the path to consider this question more seriously. He says that it depends (many of his answers start that way) but for many people it feels good. It feels like life’s troubles fade away, everything is brighter and funnier and more lovely than it was before, your body feels strangely light and energetic, and all your inhibitions feel irrelevant, suddenly any impulse seems well within reach, the consequences are far away or nonexistent—

Lan Xichen says that he feels that way sometimes. Meng Yao is surprised. Lan Xichen smiles at him in that soft, humorous way, and he can’t tell if he’s being teased. Lan Xichen informs him that he’s feeling that way right now.

“Are you drunk?” Meng Yao asks.

He’s walking his own path, and if that path occasionally includes chugging cold meds behind the bleachers no one is ever going to notice because his hair only gets cutely tousled and the crease in his khakis stays perfectly sharp.

Divorce au! Where after lwj gets his divorce lxc and lsz ( + lqr - hes grown very attached - not thay hed admit it) refuse to let wwx leave because he still part of their family - and he's a-yuan's parent as much as lwj. Lwj has to watch as wwx starts breaking little by little (and knowing he caused it + guilt because even though he isn't the *same* he's still wei ying. ..) Wwx has to watch as the sect elders try and arange a marriage between lwj and some female from another clan.

He stayed because Sizhui is too stubborn and kept saying he would leave the Lan clan and follow after him if he left. He stayed because Jingyi got all the junior decipels together and they all pleaded and begged with tearful eyes for him not to leave. He stayed because Lan Xichen left seclusion and brought him to a beautiful, vacant house and said it was his and that he would always have a home to return to. He stayed because Lan Qiren ordered him to, saying he would get into nothing but trouble and at least his old teacher can keep an eye on him this way.

He stayed because they let him know he still had a family even if he didn't have a husband.

He knows he has to leave though.

His heart simply can't take it anymore. It's easy enough to avoid Lan Wangji but it seems like the Lan elders enjoy parading all the lovely, proper women they hope to marry Lan Wangji to in front of him every chance they get.

He can't stay. He's not strong enough to watch the man he loves marry another and be happy in a way Wei Wuxian failed to make him.

I can't get this modern 3zun AU idea out of my head. Lan Xichen is a music therapist (He got into it because music was the only thing that helped Wangji after their mother died) and, to his own abject horror, falls in love with two of his patients Nie Mingjue (there for anger issues) and Meng Yao (there for his ... everything). Not to mention he finds out that his two patients know each other because at some point they both tell him about that ex-boyfriend they've had this absolutely explosive break-up with and the stories are just too similar.

Because the ethics of his profession are important to Lan Xichen and he would never violate his position, he immediately refers them both to other (seperate) therapists. He thinks that's the end of it and is secretly releaved that he has time to ride his crushes out in peace.

Fast forward a few years. Lan Xichen has since switched from being a music therapist to being a music teacher. He did some soul searching and then finally got some therapy himself (after his brother suggested it multiple times because he might have felt that for both of them being in their thirties, Lan Xichen was still waaaay to involved in his business) and that might have let him to realise that his entire life, personal and professional, was devoted to helping others and that it might be hightime to focus on his own issues for once.

After he gets his new job he also goes to a new gym. (The unclean realm. Weird name for a gym but it's directly between his home and his new workplace, so 🤷‍♀️) and lo and behold, who is the co-owner and head trainer? Nie Mingjue. And who is the other co-owner and head manager? Meng Yao?

Turns out, those two reconciled. They're not together but they are friends and business-partners.

Lan Xichen swears to himself they can just be friends but goddamn, does nie mingjue have to look so freaking hot(!!) in his training gear? Do his abs have to be directly in his line of sight while he adjusts Lan Xichen’s posture during weight lifting? (Lam Xichen’s posture doesn't actually need adjusting, fyi) and does Meng Yao have to be so sweet when he keeps Lan Xichen company after his workout to bring him another free protein snack? And damn those dimples anyway!

Not to mention, he still feels that connection with them he did all those years ago (for the ways all of them had to grow up too soon and nie mingjue also all but raised his brother and Meng yao also has to fight about a hundred internal barriers to show anything but a smile to the world) and ffffuuuuuck, there is so much that could go wrong with all three of them in the mix but Xichen wants (cue a few weeks of Lan-style emotional crisis because Lan Wangji does not in fact have a monopoly on those)

Eventually he gets over himself and after talking about it with his therapist a lot, he takes them both out to dinner. He tells them that he would like to date them both, separately or the three of them together, however they prefer it. They end up talking a long time. Both Nie Mingjue and Meng Yao agree that they want to date him, but also that they need to think about wether they should try it again between the two of them. (They both already kind of want to. The question is really whether it would be good for them.)

More therapy is had. Eventually they do decide to try it, but only after a lot of talking and setting of boundaries. 3zun live happily ever after and both Lan Wangji and Nie Huaisang breath a sigh of relief because they can pursue their own drama now without their brothers interfering for lack of their own love life. The end.

Rochester!Xichen hides either fugitives from the law (when Meng Yao comes to Thornsfield) or dangerous criminals on the lam (when Nie Mingjue comes to Thorsnfield). There's no inbeetween, unless it's actually his little brother's beloved husband in the attic (who is a bit of both).

He moved his criminal/fugitive brother-in-law into the cute little attic apartment his mother used to live in.

The real problem with Xichen as Rochester is that he is both the person mostly likely to consider bigamy as a reasonable solution to his problems and least likely to keep it a secret. He will bring you up to the attic and show you his beloved and husband who lives there under duress and then very earnestly explain why you should all marry each other about it.
