this entire time ive been thinking like. okay. okay maybe if isabel and max start hanging out and she comes over to the house she can meet lefty. and lefty and her can maybe befriend eachother, bc he knows her grandpa and maybe will be like poor kid she needs someone to look after her. and if that happens maybe she can talk about eightfold w max and lefty will hear that and go hmmmm. and he can go into the dirt and heal her. shes small and doesnt take long to heal. itll be slow bc they dont have the same color, but hes also a ghost so that might work out better. and then she can emerge from her book and pass thru the dirt bc shes a spirit. if shes outside the bubble then she could reenter by creating a tool and lefty can carry her across. bc ghosts and tools can pass thru the barrier as they please

but if shes freed by davey creating an ocean then she could theoretically just. wash ashore infront of her house???

isabel lovejoy was on a mission. anyone who upset ames was her enemy, but nadia shehadi was at the top of her list. so despite being all of five-foot-two and about as muscular as a newborn baby, izzie stomped her way over to her best friend's older sister. at one point in time she'd looked up to nadia and wanted to be just like her, but then she'd skipped town and forgotten all about her family. now she was back in huntsville and ignoring the fact that her whole family --- apart from ames, of course --- were buried six feet under. isabel wasn't about to tolerate it.

"you," she barked, stopping about a foot away from nadia, her fists balled up at her sides. "i have a fucking bone to pick with you, and you have no choice but to hear it."

Library haul!!!

This is definitely a MUCH better financial decision than my last couple trips to the bookstore 😅 I have an even mix of fiction and nonfiction right now, and I’m excited to get to all of these… even if I know I’ll have to renew some of them a few times before I’m able to finish them 🫣 And this isn’t even counting the ebooks I have on Libby right now!!!

He keeps putting himself back in situations that require a rifle in his hands, telling himself that next there comes a time where he has to pull the trigger. . . he will.

"Sir," he says first ( and tentatively ) while it feels like he's toeing up to some invisible line he's got no way of knowing for certain that he's crossed until he does. But Jean still deems it important enough to say, "It's just... I don't think Armin should be the one sittin' outside on his own—" ( with his thoughts, and the inescapable fact he had to kill somebody because Jean couldn't, today ) "—'specially with a... with a gun, right now."

Nic Saves the Day: 1994

Nic spends every morning of the summer at Junior Lifeguard Camp at Lake Mendota.  Izzy is resentful of how much attention Nic gets when she wins a gold medal at the Junior Lifeguard games but she’s also hiding her fear of swimming in the open water.

Over the holiday weekend, the family heads to the lake for the day.  The girls change into their swimsuits, lay out their towels and splash each other in the cold water. 

Nic challenges Izzy to a race and before Izzy can agree, dives in and starts swimming to the point.  Izzy chases after her but falls behind.  Nic realizes she can’t see Izzy and turns back to find her twin struggling with a leg cramp.  Nic uses her junior lifeguard skills to rescue Izzy and bring her back to the safety of the beach.  Izzy is grateful and impressed by Nic’s bravery and hard work learning about lifeguarding.
