The woman behind Laina Rauma Designs shares her practice of dressing for her mood, beauty routines, and her favorite store.

“Laina Rauma. 32. From Vancouver, BC Canada. I'm a women's wear fashion designer and owner of Laina Rauma Designs. I work ALL the time. Any chance I get to hang with my friends and family is my "fun" time. I don't really care what we're doing. I'll get lit! But I prefer to do that in the comfort of a cozy restaurant or mine or my friends' homes. I also love the occasional random night out where they play bomb ass music and I can dance til my heels make me walk out like a giraffe hahahaha.

My skin is probably #1 on my priorities list, to be real with you. I drink 1-1.5 gallons of water a day and alternate between spring and alkaline water. That's the most important thing. I eat very clean as well. Everything going in the body shows up on your face! I'm very conscious of that. I get hydra facials once a month and twice if my skin is feeling stressed or dehydrated. I also make sure I steam for about 15 min after a good sweat at the gym. I try different things but my routine isn't too intense. An eye cream, face lotion or serum and rose water. And always a tinted moisturizer with SPF. I use products from iS Clinical, Skin Medica and Lumavera.

I actually almost never wear "make-up." Like, as in a FACE haha. I pencil in my brows and wear tinted moisturizer every day but that's about it. And chapstick! Anastasia brow pencil, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer with SPF and Burt's Bees. I also love the Lucas' Papaw salve for lips. When I go out it's pretty much the same thing, every time. I have very small little eyes and too much makeup makes me look crazy! I just wanna glowww. Brows, bronzer, usually use the same bronzer around my eyelids for eyeshadow (I don't like anything too dark around my eyes), mascara and some gloss! Sometimes I switch it up with a red lip and some eye-liner. And again, rose water. I bring it with me everywhere and I like to spray my face after I do my make-up for a little dewy look.

I'm the worst for hair, lemme tell ya. I should probably be more mindful but I work all the time and it's just not really my thing. Right now I'm in the growing out stage after I cut it all off so it's tied back almost every day. I don't use a lot of heat on my hair so that really helps and I take biotin pills for hair growth and strength. I use Biolage conditioner and shampoo because it's nice and light and I have pretty fine hair. I try to wash my hair only a few times a week so I don't dry it out.

My personal style is ALL over the place. I pretty much dress in characters. That is, when I'm going out. Day to day I wear workout clothes! I'm always running around DTLA and I hit the gym in the middle of the day so it's all about function and comfort when it comes to that. For going out, I usually like something super feminine with a masculine juxtapose. My favorite thing to buy is shoes and sunglasses and my favorite store in LA is Opening Ceremony. I think it's all about comfort, honestly. And by that I mean, I never really dress for occasion, I dress for my mood. I think when you dress that way, you don't let the clothes wear you. Depending on my mood, I'll feel just as comfortable AND glamorous in sweatpants and Jordan's than I will in a feather coat and a sheer dress. I like gold jewelry, sparkly things, texture... accessories. It's usually about one piece I really wanna wear and I build around that. Pretty much I just wanna look and feel cool! And not be trying to "fix" myself all night.

Some of my favorite pieces include: a ring I designed from my late Grandfather's melted down jewelry and giant Topaz. Also, my big, black Celine glasses that I wear TO DEATH. I buy so many sunnies, but those are always my go-to. A fox fur coat my Grandmother gave me from the 1940's; I don't wear it anymore but I definitely think my love for it helped spark some ideas for my latest collection and all the faux fur. A vintage leather jacket with flames painted on it. I want to wear it every day! But it's too hot in LA. A vintage, monogram Fendi, large envelope clutch. I'm not a bag girl at all. I really could care less for bags. But that's one of the first I've ever owned and I wear it with everything. I'm going on 7 items but lastly, my SHOES. I cannot pick just one. I don't care what I'm wearing, but the shoes gotta be good. The shoes make or break EVERYTHING.”
