let’s be shallow and objectifying, who’s the most handsome/attractive motogp rider, current grid and from the past, in your opinion??
so, an important caveat here is. I am a lesbian. obviously that means I'm the best-placed to give an accurate assessment on these matters and in many ways am the definitive authority... but there is perhaps a little bit of a tendency to just rate blokes highly if they meet the 'if you squinted could you trick yourself into thinking they were a woman' criterion. also not to get into the ins and outs of how sexuality works too much, but it does become more about persona for me when you've not got the same instant physical attraction? like how much are you into how they behave, into the vibes, into the complete package...
all of this obviously means that valentino automatically has a leg up as certified evil lesbian. everybody knows about the 125cc dyke years, but honestly if I squint I can still see it for much of his career (which btw is why personally the least attractive I think I've ever found him aren't any of the haircuts that everyone hates but his 2002 where he looked like 'just some guy'). shout out to his early yamaha years, definitely could pass as a lesbian. also even when he's got the sideburns I can dirtbag lesbo him in my head. without getting too much into valentino hairstyle rankings, I do also actually like his shaved head eras, it's very lean and mean. very butch realness, if you will. he's in the mancrush territory for me like he is actually quite hot
other retired riders... there's like a very specific time period where casey looks quite nice, in his early ducati years where he's wide eyed and surly and has a good camera smile but is also kinda grumpy a lot of the time. not necessarily attractive but sort of like a doe? skittish. like you kinda want to pat him on the shoulder and tell him to chill out? I think his face is quite nice to look at, but it kinda fades when he goes to honda and falls prey to 'just some guy' syndrome. he looks quite nice post retirement though, *gestures vaguely* rugged but in a nice way. I'm struggling to think of a single other retired rider I find attractive... chris vermeulen in the suzuki leathers looked kinda appealing actually. pre-valentino the sport really was 'just some guy' all the way unfortunately... maybe crivi deserves a shout out
from the current grid... uh. there's some guys I know are objectively attractive but also do nothing for me 99% of the time. marc does sometimes fall into this category unfortunately, like he's got a very compelling face but it's also too perfect? he does more for me these days!! a few more lines, bags under the eyes and all that... back in the day he did just look too much like a cross between a barbie doll and a literal toddler. I WILL SAY he's deeply attractive specifically at misano 2019 when he's got that massive grin while being booed (jerez 2005 important sister moment where valentino looks fantastic too). in general, every time he looks a bit psychotic I go 'yeah I get it' I think? like the motogp unlimited moment where joan is kinda terrified of him and marc looks like he's trying to figure out whether he can muster the energy to eat him, that really makes me go 'OH yeah now I understand'. luca I think is also clearly good looking, but again just a bit too much, he's very ooh look I'm a walking sculpture, good for him and all but also too much. I don't think pecco is attractive, but also his sister clearly does just look like the female version of him and she's INCREDIBLY hot, 12/10 girl call me, so I guess pecco probably is too? might do more for me if he got rid of the facial hair, but he does look quite... idk, soft, like I'd pat him on the head. aleix has a very firm jaw, he can definitely get it. also could be a lesbian without too little adjustment. not that this is the metric, but just saying! uh... fabio looks quite nice? when he had the bisexual leathers earlier this season he moved me, also he's got a nice voice. vinales occasionally has his moments, but it really depends on what he's doing with his hair and facial hair situation at any given time. um. that's it

Day 14: Legend
Part of my OC-tober 2022 (that will get fucking finished in 2024 so help me god)! I keep changing between Isabel Magbanua and Isabel Makiling but I swear! The official is Isabel Makiling. Magbanua was just Isabel’s last name in first drafts, so I got unconsciously attached. Uh. Anyway. Have some Lesbian heavy petting.
“In the province of Laguna, there is a mountain in the shape of a woman,” Isabel tells her, one night, her cheek against Margie’s bare chest, her thigh between Margie’s legs, all under the pretense of washing themselves of the day’s grime in a nearby stream. The water has long since carried the dirt and blood away, and now they’re just luxuriating in the cool shallows, warmed significantly by the heat of each other. “They say the mountain is guarded by a spirit—she used to be a goddess, before the Spaniards came. Dayang Makiling is what her people call her. The mountain is her domain, a reflection of her. From the right angle, you can see her body, laid upon her side.”
Her fingers, delicately tracing patterns along Margie’s skin, travel south. Goosebumps rise to meet it.
“The ground rises at her knees,” Isabel says, wandering hand disappearing under the surface of the water to caress the sensitive backs of Margie’s knee. Her body jumps in tandem to it, like a marionette come to life, at the call of her puppeteer. Or guitar strings, vibrating under the musician’s skillful touch. Singing, like Margie sings now, gasping as Isabel drags her hand up, up, up—
“Then, the slope forms her thighs,” Isabel says, fingers on Margie's inner thigh, so close. So dangerously close—
So suddenly gone. Margie whimpers, pathetically, at the loss of contact, but is not disappointed for long, as the leg that she had forgotten about, shifts, until Isa’s thigh is pressed flush to the heat of her. Margie grinds down against it, desperately, whimpers turning into whines, uninhibited. Unashamed. Even when Isa laughs at her desperation. Even when her hand still ventures up, up, up, over the soft rolls of fat around Margie’s waist, stopping to pinch and feel and sink into the meat of it. Isabel has stopped talking for the time being, so focused is she on the twists and turns of Margie’s face, dark brown eyes nearly black with want. Margie can hardly look at her when she is like this, but forces herself to, begging without words for more.
“Then, her breasts,” says the girl, as her fingers catch on the swell of Margie’s chest. “Ample. They form twin peaks, near the end. If you look closely, you might even see—”
She pinches a nipple between two fingers. Gives it a rough tug.
“Isa,” Margie whimpers, finally finding her voice and her strength. With a quick maneuver, she flips them over, pining Isabel against the bank with a frustrated groan. “Fuckin’ hell, Isa.”
With a flick of their hips, their cores slot together in hot, sparking bliss. Bodies cradling each other so close, not even water can come between them.
"Dayang Makiling," Margie says, with her atrocious accent. Still, Isabel shivers in anticipation, their twin breaths lost in the space between their lips, mouths hanging open in a brief pause. "Isabel."
Isabel grins up at her, long, thick hair a halo of black floating around her pretty head, the rest of her barely shrouded in a liquid tapestry of moon silver. Beautiful. Regal. Just like how Margie had begun to imagine it, soaring through the clouds and looking down upon a mountain, its Lady on her back, smiling at the sky.
--
Note: Though the folk lore of Maria/Dayan Makiling is location specific to the province of Laguna, Philippines, this story itself doesn’t really take place in Laguna, but instead in Bulacan, which is in the North. Isabel’s family is from Laguna, and moved to Manila before the siege, and that’s why she’s familiar with the story of Mt. Makiling.

Halfway through his rookie GP season Valentino hadn't climbed a podium. He had come close - at Jerez and Mugello - but his next four races didn't go so well: crashes at Paul Ricard and Assen, a mechanical at Donington and a fifth at the Nuerburgring. However, Aprilia's Carlo Pernat had put his job on the line when he signed Vale, so he needed him to succeed. In August, Scuderia Carrizosa received boxes of factory-spec engine and chassis parts. The difference was immediate. At Austria's A1-Ring he finished third, 2.3 seconds behind the winner. He was still buzzing from his first trip to the podium (but no champagne for 16-year-olds) when his mother drove their campervan into the Brno paddock a few days later. On the Saturday he scored his first pole position, but he still wasn't fully confident. "I didn't expect to win the race but I was beginning to arrive in a good place, so I knew something was possible." The early laps were typical 125cc harem-scarem stuff, Stefano Perugini and the rest rubbing elbows and paint. On lap five Vale scrapped his way in to the lead but not for long. Jorge Martinez - the man Vale had brought down at Shah Alam - was on the charge. The veteran swept past and tried to make the break. Only Valentino went with him, starting a vicious duel with three laps to go. "The race turned into a big braking battle - who could brake the deepest, because Martinez was always the rider who could brake latest," Vale remembers. "After my win he gave me his hand and said, 'Fuck, you were strong!'." By then Martinez had a grudging respect for Vale, half his age. "At that time Valentino was a very, very aggressive rider, says the Spaniard. "He was very fast but also he had many crashes. Over the years in MotoGP we have seen many riders arrive who are very fast but also crash very much, like Marc Márquez. So we ask the question, will this new guy continue to be very fast but still crash too often, or will he change his mentality and concentrate more? "Around this time Valentino made this change, so in 1997 he won many races and hardly crashed at all. Also his character at this time was very different to most riders - the crazy hair and the victory celebrations - so he completely changed the mentality of the paddock." Valentino's lifelong right-hand man Uccio Salucci will never forget Brno 1996. "It was a fantastic weekend," he says. "During this period racing was a complete joke for us - we didn't understand how everything worked. On the Sunday evening we stayed in our camper and drank some beer with our parents. The next day Stefania [Rossi's mother] drove the camper and we went home to Tavullia feeling very, very happy."
Tumblr media
^Rossi leads Martinez and Emilio Alzamora at Brno. Two decades later Vale was still fighting with Alzamora, who had become Marc Márquez's manager and mentor.
From Mat Oxley's 'Valentino Rossi: All His Races'
Tumblr media
"I saw a young guy with dyed hair and earrings who was like Superman on the bike. I thought to myself: 'That's not for me.' At first it was a shock. In 1996 we had already clashed a few times. He touched me once, we had an argument. In 1997 Valentino Rossi made me retire. But that's not a bad story for me." "I had two reasons: one was that Valentino Rossi came and that had such a big impact. The other was that the manufacturers, in this case Aprilia, used me as an experienced rider as a technical test rider to get the bike right and then they gave the best material to Valentino. As a rider, that hurt me at the time. Later I regretted retiring because in 1998 Sakata won the title that I could have won. As a team boss, I suffered for the first two or three years after retiring because I wanted to jump on a bike and compete with my riders. That was difficult for me."
- Jorge Martinez (x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We were a good team. And we had a lot of fun in that 1996 season. Or rather, I had a lot of fun. That was me at my craziest. I really was an absolute pest. I had no respect for anyone on the track. To me they were all the same, it made no difference if it was a veteran vying for the title, or a debutant like me. I just wanted to go fast, very fast, and if I saw an opening, I went for it. I wanted to overtake everyone, come what may. In other words, I made people uncomfortable. I was fast, but I made mistakes. Too many times I threw away decent positions. I think I must have fallen fifteen or so times that season. In the very first race, I got into an argument with Jorge Martinez. We were at Shah Alam in Malaysia. I was making my debut and had secured a spot in the third row. I started very well and I'm not sure how, but I somehow found myself alongside the leaders early on. I was cruising along somewhere between seventh and eighth position. At one point, Dirk Raudies was in front of me and Martinez just behind me. Raudies' engine seized up, and, to avoid him, I instinctively braked, changing trajectory. Martinez was unable to avoid me, hit me, and fell. That was the year in which Martinez, riding the "official" Aprilia, was heavily favoured in the race for the title. I had just upset one of the darlings, one of the "untouchables" of the world championship. I finished the race in sixth place and was quite pleased. In fact, everyone around me was pleased, we were all celebrating. Then, suddenly, I came face to face with Martinez and Angel Nieto. "Son of a bitch!" they shouted. "We're going to tear you a new arsehole!" That's when I realised they probably did not like me very much. So I slipped behind the mechanic, who was a big guy, using him as a shield. The two Spaniards were rabid, they looked as if they wanted to beat me up, so the big mechanic did come in very handy, as a deterrent. But I soon started enjoying the scene, rather than being frightened. The pair of them were absolutely furious, but they also looked so funny, in the way that only short people can look funny when they get really angry. And both of them were tiny, unintimidating in every way. I was not really worried at all.
Valentino Rossi in his 2005 autobiography, What if I had never tried it
he went on to beat jorge martinez for his first ever race win - from the rec list:

Lesbian Sen. Tammy Baldwin opens for Kamala Harris’s first presidential campaign rally
Presidential candidate Kamala Harris held her first official campaign event on Tuesday in the must-win battleground state of Wisconsin, introduced by two-term out Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), who enthusiastically endorsed her historic candidacy. “I am so proud to support Kamala Harris for President of the United States!” Baldwin told a crowd of thousands packed into a high school gym outside Milwaukee. They roared their approval. Related Kamala Harris sums up just how bad Project 2025 is in just 9 words She had the crowd chanting, “We’re not going back,” referring to a second Trump term. The kickoff rally in suburban West Allis came just 48 hours after President Joe Biden abandoned his run for a second term and endorsed his vice president. In the two days since, Democrats have raised an astonishing $256 million in support of the Harris campaign, with half that number from small donors. Wisconsin will likely decide who occupies the White House and which party controls the United States Senate. No pressure!” In 2016, Hillary Clinton lost Wisconsin to Donald Trump by less than one percent of the vote, a tipping point in the election that handed Trump the presidency even though he lost the popular vote. In 2020, Biden flipped Wisconsin blue by an even narrower margin. Baldwin is running for a third term in the Senate against Trump-endorsed MAGA candidate Republican Eric Hovde, a multi-millionaire who first ran for the seat in 2012 but lost in the primary to former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson. The wannabe pol considered a second run against Baldwin in 2018 but demurred; same for a run against Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) in 2022. After winning the backing of the dysfunctional Wisconsin GOP, Hovde earned an endorsement from Trump. Hovde, 59, has said he’s “totally opposed” to abortion, wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and wants to ban trans athletes from sports.   Since his first Senate campaign, the far-right Republican has grown a statement-making mustache and taken up part-time residence in Orange County, California, where he owns and runs Sunwest Bank, opening himself up to carpetbagging charges by Baldwin. “Eric Hovde owns a $3 billion California bank,” Baldwin told rallygoers. “He owns a $7 million ocean-view mansion in Laguna Beach, and he’s actually been named one of Orange County’s most influential residents three years in a row. Folks, we have a Green County, we have a Brown County. We do not have an Orange County in Wisconsin!” http://dlvr.it/TB1t75

Fundamental threat — Mel White
Tumblr media
Rev. Mel White sounds alarm that Christian Right is out to crucify gays in theocratic takeover of U.S. government
By DANIEL KUSNER | Sept. 8, 2006
In 1988, five years before he was installed as the dean of Cathedral of Hope, Mel White visited Dallas for the first time.
With a doctorate in religion and a gift for story-telling, White was a sought-after ghostwriter for superstar evangelical ministers: Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Jim Bakker.
White didn't come out until 1990.
And eight years ago, he wrote "Stranger at the Gate," his memoir about coming out and confronting misleading anti-gay rhetoric of the radical right.
His newest book, "Religion Gone Bad" (Tarcher/Penguin, $24.95), takes a different spiritual journey — chronicling the path of fundamentalist Christianity and detailing the way extremists are using vicious anti-gay propaganda to enforce their "moral values" on the U.S. Constitution.
Tumblr media
"But Dallas is where I learned about fundamentalism. And it's the place where anti-gay fundamentalism was conceived," White said during a recent phone interview from his home in Lynchburg, Va.
On that first trip to Big D, White spent a month living at the Fairmont Hotel, which stands on six-square blocks of property owned by the nearby First Baptist Church.
White was in town to ghostwrite Wally Amos Criswell's 1990 auto- biography, "Standing on the Promises."
Tumblr media
During Criswell's 50-year term as senior pastor, the church had more than 28,000 members.
First Baptist is considered our nation's first "mega-church."
And Criswell was considered "the Pope" of Southern Baptist fundamentalists.
In 1969, during his first term as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Criswell famously purged moderates and progressives from Southern Baptist churches in a sermon titled "Why I Preach That the Bible is Literally True."
Tumblr media
According to White, on Sept. 21, 1980, Criswell delivered another historic sermon that was broadcast on radio and launched a war of words with far greater significance: Criswell's first sermon on homosexuality.
He started with the story of Sodom and explained that the men and boys of ancient city were homosexuals who had come to rape God's angels.
"It's an oversimplification to say others weren't preaching about the same thing. But when 'the Pope' speaks, the world listens," White explains.
"That sermon was the most powerful moment in history of the churches turning against us."
In that same sermon, White explains that Criswell invented a terror tactic that fundamentalist preachers and televangelists still employ.
Criswell described 200,000 lesbians and "sodomites" marching in San Francisco.
"What are they marching for? They're marching for the right to have lesbian or homosexual relationships with children and with young people, if they so desire. Freedom of expression. This is the gay rights movement," Criswell said.
Televangelists like Falwell and Robertson later picked up Criswell's message.
And when the Soviet Union collapsed, televangelists bashed gays almost exclusively.
What's Criswell's message?
"If gays are ever recognized as a protected class, then our nation will be destroyed — just like like Sodom was," White explains. "And if that happens, then God removes his hand of blessing from our nation."
"That's why fundamentalists strive to fight hate-crime legislation, gays serving in the military, same-sex marriage, gay adoption and same-sex survivorship rights, White says.
"If any one place in the country recognizes us, then they fear for the country," White says.
White and his partner Gary Nixon moved from Laguna Beach, Calif., to Lynchburg to be next to and regularly attend Falwell's church "He's the pastoral spokesman for fundamentalism," White says.
"Last Sunday, in front of 9,000 people, Falwell spent nine minutes condemning gay marriage and boosting the political fortunes of anti-gay leaders in the United States. That's how far religion has gone astray."
According to White, most gays — especially in urban areas — are unaware of the anti-gay fun- damentalist movement, or they just tune it out.
"Dallas is a gay friendly town. One of the great cities in terms of fundraising for HRC and others," White says. "But there's a disconnect between that and middle America. Televangelists don't call themselves broadcasters. They call themselves 'narrowcasters' because they narrow-cast to a huge constituency. The rest of us don't even stop long enough to listen to them. We don't know what they're saying. So they can say anything they want about us."
What else does Falwell say?
"That God placed George Bush into the presidency. And if you disagree with Bush you disagree with God," White explains.
White says it's up to gays and lesbians to take back the U.S. Congress: campaigning, donating, walking streets, knocking on doors — and now — as midterm election season gets underway.
"Fundamentalist religion is who we're trying to defeat — not just Republicans," White says.
White says he's also unimpressed with Democratic candidates.
"Do any of them have courage on gay issues? Hillary Clinton and all these progressives can't stoop to giving us rights and protections of marriage because they're afraid they'll lose the elections," White says.
"My brothers and sisters in the gay community haven't taken his issue seriously," White continues. "The first step is to look around you: You are second-class citizens in your own country."
MEET MEL White attends discussion and book-signing for "Religion Gone Bad," Sept 11 at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Bookstore, Market and Cafe, 3930 Cedar Springs Road. 214-521-8919,
BIRTH OF ANTI-GAY FUNDAMENTALISM: White says Dallas First Baptist Church pastor W.A. Criswell's first sermon on homosexuality was the most powerful moment in the history of churches turning against the gay rights movement.
CLARION CALLER: Rev. Mel White says gays aren't paying attention to fundamentalists, and that's why our civil rights are continually threatened and thwarted. On Monday, White returns to Dallas for an author event at Crossroads Market.

THE JUDGMENTS OF GOD Dr. W. A. Criswell — 2 Kings 23:36 — 12-30-84 10:50 a.m. And no less do we praise the Lord for the great throngs who share this hour with us in the First Baptist Church of Dallas on radio and on television.  This is the pastor bringing the message entitled The Judgments of God: A Plea for Revival.  It is actually the first of a duet of sermons, this one and next Sunday’s.  Actually also, it is a quadruplet; it is one in a series of four messages.  Next Sunday, the State of the Church sermon, the annual sermon of the pastor on the first Sunday of the year; then the next Sunday, the third message, Soul-winning Laymen, laymen, laywomen in soulwinning; and then the fourth one is The Soul-winning Church, the church in soulwinning.
And this first message of the four, The Judgments of God: A Plea for Revival, a plea for the intervention of heaven.  For our beginning text, in the Book of Romans chapter 2, beginning at verse 2; Romans 2:2:
. . . the judgment of God is according to truth . . .
Verse 3:
Thinkest thou, O man, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
[Romans 2:3]
Verse 5:
. . . thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Who will render to every one according to his deeds:
To them who by patient continuance in work, in well doing, seek for glory and honor and immortality, to them eternal life:
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, to them indignation and wrath,
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile . . .
[Romans 2:5-9]
Verse 11:
For there is no respect of persons with God.
[Romans 2:11]
He has, in respect to judgment, no favorites, whether they be of a chosen people, whether they be of this dispensation or a previous one, whether it be man or woman, God has no favorites with respect to the judgments of God.
We’re going to look at the great, panoramic review of the hand of God in human life, and we’re going to see in it two things:  first, the inevitable and inextricable judgments of God upon unrighteousness; and second, the intervention of God in repentance, in contrition, and in confession.
First: the inexorable and inevitable judgments of God upon unrighteousness.  We are told in the Book of Genesis that there were two angels, beautiful men; they are in the form of a human life, a human stature.  Two beautiful angels, beautiful men, came down from God in heaven to visit the Sodomites, to see whether or not it was as it had come up to God in heaven, the deep wickedness of the Sodomites.  And when the two beautiful men, beautiful men — when the two beautiful men came to the gate of the city they were met by the mayor who sat in the gate of the city;
his name was Lot [Genesis 19:1].  And Lot welcomed those two beautiful men into the city of Sodom, and they walked through the streets of the Sodomites; two beautiful men.
And they came to be guests in the home and house of the mayor, Lot.
And while Lot was entertaining those two beautiful men, attractive men, angelic men, messengers from heaven, the Sodomites gathered outside the door of the mayor of the city, Lot.
Tumblr media
And they said, calling with a loud voice to the family of Lot on the inside of the house, “Bring out those two beautiful, attractive men that we may sexually know them” [Genesis 19:2-5].
And Lot came out instead and he said to the Sodomites, he said, “I have two daughters, virgins; they have never known sexually a man. You take my two daughters, and you rape them, and you abuse them, and you violate them, but the two beautiful men who are guests from heaven, do not abuse them” [Genesis 19:6-8].
And the Sodomites in anger replied, “Who is this stranger Lot?  Where did he come from?  And who made him a judge over us?”
And as they pressed toward the house to seize Lot, the two angels on the inside, of the house took hold of Lot and pulled him inside and shut the door [Genesis 19:9-10].
And when the Sodomites deigned to rush the door and to open it in violence and to seize those two beautiful, attractive men, the angels struck blindness on the Sodomites, and they groped for the wall and the door and could not find it [Genesis 19:11].
And on the inside of the house the two angels said to Lot, “You get your family, and you escape for your life, for God shall rain fire and brimstone upon Sodom” [Genesis 19:12-13]; the judgments of Almighty God.
When I read in the paper of a parade through San Francisco of two hundred fifty thousand sodomites, what do you think someday God will do?
And when I read in the daily paper in Dallas of a lesser number of sodomites, marching and parading through the city of Dallas, what do you think some day God will do, the God who visits judgment?
I turn again to the Holy Scriptures, and I am introduced here to Israel.
And in the providence of God the kingdom is divided.
There are ten tribes of Israel to the north, whose later capital is Samaria, and they are called by the name of Israel, separated from the two tribes to the south, which are called Judah [1 Kings 12:16-17, 21].  And Jeroboam, the first king of Israel, builds and molds two golden calves.
And he says to his people, “These are the gods that brought you out of the land of Egypt. These are the gods you are to worship” [1 Kings 12:26-28].
And from the succession of every king from Jeroboam on down to the last one, including Ahab and Jezebel, every king of Israel was a wicked king.
On every high place they built an altar to a heathen god.
On every day in the year they bowed down before Asherah, the female goddess of fertility, whose licentious rites of worship were indescribable to us.  Every king of Israel was a vile and wicked king.  And finally, ultimately, inexorably, I read in 2 Kings 17:7:
And so it was, that the children of Israel sinned against the Lord their God . . .
And they walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out before them . . .
The Lord testified against Israel by all the prophets and by all the seers saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and statutes . . .
Notwithstanding they would not hear . . .
they left all the commandments of the Lord their God . . .
They caused their sons and their daughters to be offered up, as sacrifices to Molech, in the fire . . .
Therefore the Lord was angry with Israel, and removed them out of His sight:  there was none left but the tribe of Judah only . . .
So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
[2 Kings 17:7-23]
That’s the day in which the author wrote it;
that’s the day in which we live.
To this day, Israel, the northern ten tribes, are referred to as “the lost ten tribes.”
They were forever scattered over the face of the civilized world, and their nation and their capital were forever destroyed;
the judgments of God [2 Kings 17:23].
In 722 BC the bitter and hasty Assyrian came and forever destroyed Israel, the northern kingdom.
Do you notice in reading the Scripture, it says, “but the tribe of Judah only”? [2 Kings 17:5-6, 18].
God destroyed them and moved them, except the tribe of [Judah] only.
So Judah remains.
Judah with her capital city of Jerusalem stands before the Lord.
But how does she stand?
In those divided days there were kings of great revival and reformation like Hezekiah [2 Chronicles 31:1-21], and like good King Josiah [2 Chronicles 34:1-33],
but other than once in a while a godly king of the house of David, Judah also was led into vast, permeating idolatry by her nobility [2 Kings 21:10-15].  Then we read in 2 Kings 23:
The Lord turned not from the fierceness of His great wrath, wherewith His anger was kindled against Judah . . .
And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of My sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city, Jerusalem, which I have chosen . . .”
[2 Kings 23:26-27]
Then the first verse of the next chapter, chapter 24 begins:
Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon came up . . .
according to the word of the Lord which He spake by His servants the prophets.
At the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove them out of His sight, for the sins of king Manasseh . . .
For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the Lord would not pardon.
[2 Kings 24:1-4]
And if I could speak of the destruction of the nation and of the city in the lamentable words of Jeremiah the prophet: Jeremiah lifted up his voice and cried to his people, “Repent!  Get right with God!” [Jeremiah 3:12-14].
And Nebuchadnezzar came in 605 BC and took some of the nobility captive and made them eunuchs in his palace in Babylon, among them being one named Daniel, a statesman-seer [Daniel 1:1-3, 6].
Jeremiah, in Jerusalem, cried to his people, “Repent!  Get right with God!” [Jeremiah 3:12-14].  And Nebuchadnezzar came in 597 BC, and this time he took all of the royal family, and took all of the craftsman, and took the leaders of the army, and ten thousand of the people, among whom was Ezekiel, the prophet-priest [2 Kings 24:11-14].
Jeremiah, remaining in Jerusalem, lifted up his voice and cried saying, “Repent!  Get right with God!” [Jeremiah 3:12-14]. And Nebuchadnezzar came in 586 BC [Jeremiah 39:1-10, 52:4-30], and this time he needed not to return.  He took the nation into slavery.  He destroyed the temple and the city, and they became exiles and slaves in the Mesopotamian nation of Babylonia.  And Jeremiah lifted up his voice and cried,
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
[Jeremiah 9:1]
The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we, we are not saved.
Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?  why then is not the [hurt] of the daughter of my people healed?
[Jeremiah 8:20, 22]
The judgment of Almighty God.
In the twenty-third chapter of the Book of Matthew our Lord is lamenting over Jerusalem; the twenty-third chapter of Matthew:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, leaders of the people.  Woe unto you!
[Matthew 23:13-36]
Behold, He says, your house is left unto you desolate!
[Matthew 23:38]
And the twenty-fourth chapter, the following chapter of Matthew, begins and the disciples pointed out to the Lord the great vast stones in the temple.  And the Lord said, “See these great stones?  Not one shall be left upon the other” [Matthew 24:1-2].  And within a few short years, a few years, the great seething rebellion came into Israel, and the Roman legions came under Vespasian. Then when he was crowned as Caesar, continuing under Titus, and the city was taken, and the people into captivity, and the city was destroyed: the judgments of Almighty God!
And through the years and the centuries to our present day, God doesn’t change.  The same omnipotent Judge who weighs the nations in the balance is the same omnipotent Judge who reigns forever and ever [Revelation 11:15].
The judgments of God today.  A few months, several months, after the Second World War, I went through Germany from the south to the north and from the east to the west.  Nor is it possible to describe the vast, unmitigated destruction of the Allied force as they rained fire and bombs down from heaven, the instruments of the judgments of Almighty God.
I stood, for example, in the middle of Hamburg, a city as large as Chicago, and from horizon to horizon, as far as my eye could see, there was not one building standing.  And the whole nation was like that: prostrate, pulverized, bombed, fired, destroyed, in misery and unmitigated agony.  As you stand there in the midst of that indescribable destruction, anybody with mind at all could not but poignantly view the preachers that Hitler had placed in prison and slain.  The people of God, the Jews, that he had incarcerated and tortured and destroyed by the millions, and the violence that he had done to human life and human right and human nature: the judgments of Almighty God!
I am old enough to remember, though I was a child, I am old enough to remember the revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia; the Rasputins, the priests using the church for vile and vicious ends.  And the Lord God looked down from heaven and said, “It is enough!”  And the whole nation was thrown into the throes of an awesome confrontation.  And out of it came not something that glorified God.  Instead of turning to the Lord Christ in penitence and in confession and in plea for help, they turned to atheistic communism.  And the story since, every chapter to this present moment of the violation of Afghanistan, every moment of it to the present in its insurrection and infiltration in Central America, every, every paragraph and chapter of the story is written in blood and in terror.  Until finally, in Ezekiel chapter 38 and chapter 39, there is coming an awesome judgment upon Russia and her godless, atheistic communism: the judgment of Almighty God [Ezekiel 38:1-39:29].
But the same wonderful Book that reveals to us the mind and character of the Judge of all the earth [Genesis 18:25; Hebrews 12:23], also reveals to us His abounding grace [Ephesians 2:8], and mercy [Titus 2:3], when a people turn, when they repent, when they confess, when they come before the Lord in plea and in confession and in repentance [Acts 20:21].  You have a poignant illustration of that in the life of the people of Nineveh, that great capital city of the Assyrian Empire.  Jonah, God’s prophet, entered into the city crying and saying, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be destroyed!” [Jonah 3:4].  And it came to the ears of the Assyrian emperor what God’s prophet was saying.  He left his throne.  He sat in an ash heap.  He covered himself with sackcloth.  He made it a decree that every citizen in the city was to cover himself in sackcloth and to cry mightily unto the God of heaven in confession and in repentance [Jonah 3:5-9].  And the next verse says, “And God repented Him of what He had proposed to do against Nineveh” [Jonah 3:10].
When men repent, when men change, God repents, God changes.  God never changes in regard to His character.  God will change any time in His response to a nation, or to a man, or to a family, or to a youth.  That’s the kind of a God that rules and reigns over this earth.  He is a God who is moved by the cries and the contrition and the repentance and the confession of men.
Another poignant illustration of the mercy of God: the same Assyrian army that destroyed Samaria and the Northern Kingdom of Israel [2 Kings 17:5-6], it was that same Assyrian mighty power that came down to destroy Jerusalem and Judah [2 Kings 18:17].  At that time there was a godly king in Judah named Hezekiah.  And when Sennacherib and his Assyrian army came down and shut up Jerusalem like a vise, Sennacherib, the Assyrian emperor, sent his general Rabshakeh and representative with a letter to Hezekiah [2 Kings 19:14].  And in that letter the Assyrian emperor spoke of the terrible things that lay before Hezekiah and his people: debauchery, and rape, and slavery, exile, death, blood.  And Hezekiah took the letter from Sennacherib and went into the house of the Lord, and he laid it before Jehovah God and read it in the presence of the Lord, and in tears, and prayers, and confession, and repentance, and appeal, asked God for deliverance and salvation and help [2 Kings 19:14-19].
And the Lord God sent Isaiah, His messenger and His prophet, to Hezekiah the king to say to Hezekiah, “The battle is not yours.  It is Mine.  It is Mine.  I will fight this battle” [2 Kings 19:20-34].  And that night the angel of death passed over the great army of Sennacherib.  And the next morning they counted one hundred eighty-five thousand dead corpses [2 Kings 19:35].  What God will do for a people who turn, who plead, who pray, and who confess, and who repent!
The story of the mercy of our Lord continues even beyond the pages of that Holy Bible.  In 390 AD, Antioch, the third city in the Roman Empire, first, Rome, second, Alexandria, third, Antioch; in 390 AD the emperor, the Roman Caesar Theodosius, was on his way to Antioch with the Roman legions to destroy the city, to burn it with fire and to take the people into slavery and captivity.  They were guilty of insurrection, of insubordination, of riot and sacrilege.  And it was the purpose of the emperor Theodosius to punish them and to make them a spectacle before the whole civilized world.
In those days, there stood up to preach a flaming prophet of God named Chrysostom, John Chrysostom, John “Golden-Mouthed,” John Chrysostom.  And that glorious preacher, like Savonarola of Florence, Italy, Chrysostom poured out his flaming zeal in calling the people of Antioch to repentance, to faith, to confession, to contrition, to prayer, to bowing, to intercession, interceding, pleading with Almighty God.  And when Theodosius, the Roman Caesar, arrived in Antioch to destroy it, he found a people in the midst of a great revival meeting.  The power and the Spirit of the Lord was poured out upon Antioch, and God saved the city and the Lord spared the people.  And Theodosius just bowed in worship before the Lord God, who brought about such a vast, deep, penetrating, universal repentance and contrition on the part of the vast population—revival, revival, the interposition of God.
There is no section or no chapter in history as encrimsoned with human blood as the story, the record, of the French Revolution.  Under Robespierre and those terrible men of the Commune, they guillotined by the thousands, they murdered by the other thousands, they killed and slew by other thousands.  They literally encrimsoned Paris with blood; the streets ran with human blood.  They would move the guillotine from here to there to there because the ground and the very cobblestones were soggy with human blood.  And in the days of the terrible visitation upon French worldliness and French wickedness and French compromise, unrighteousness, iniquity; in those days when the Lord God looked down upon France and judged it; in those horrible, indescribable days of blood and terror and violence, in that same day the Lord God from heaven looked down upon England.
And what did He see in England?  And what I am about to describe is a part of my imagination.  But it is the universal verdict of history, universal, that England was saved and spared and delivered because, when God looked down from heaven upon England, He saw a great revival, a great moving of the Spirit of God, poured out upon England and through England upon America.  In England it was the Wesleyan revival; in America it is called “The Great Awakening.”  And under the preaching of George Whitefield and John Wesley, and under the singing of Charles Wesley, the whole nation turned to God.
They were not allowed to preach in the churches.  The churches looked with disdain upon the kind of preaching that the Wesleys and the Whitefields were doing.  They preached outside.  They preached in the squares, in the commons.  They preached where the miners came out of the ground.  They preached wherever men would listen.  They went up and down the towns and cities of England, preaching the gospel of Christ, calling men to repentance, to faith, to confession.  And all England bowed in contrition before the Lord.  And they sang the songs of Charles Wesley.
I can imagine, this is just my imagination, but I can imagine: in those days when the Lord God, the Judge of all the earth [Genesis 18:25], was looking down upon England, judging France at the same time, the horrible encrimsoning of the nation of France, looking down at the same time upon England.  And I can imagine, I can imagine the angel Gabriel, the messenger of the Lord, I can imagine the angel Gabriel coming before the Lord and saying, “Lord, come here.  Come here, Lord.  I want You to look down.  I want You to listen, and listen, Lord, listen to these people.”  And the Lord God in heaven bowed down His ear to listen, and He heard John Wesley and his people singing:
Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high!
Hide me, O my Savior, hide—till the storm of life is past;
Safe unto Thy haven guide, o receive my soul at last!
[“Jesus, Lover of My Soul,” Charles Wesley]
And Gabriel to the Lord God, “What do You think about that, Lord?  Listen to those people as they sing.”  And Michael, God’s great warrior representative, the hand of the Lord God in judgment, Michael comes to the Lord God and says, “Lord, come over here.  Come over here, Lord.  Lord, look down, look down.  What do You see?  And listen, Lord, and what do You hear?”  And the Lord God looked down from heaven and listened and He heard:
O for ten thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my Lord and King,
The triumphs of His grace!
[from “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing,” by Charles Wesley]
And Michael says to the Lord God, “Lord, what do You think about that?  Charles Wesley and those people singing, what do You think about that?”  And I can imagine, Uriel and Raphael, the angels of God, saying to the Lord, “Lord, come with me, come with me.  Look down, Lord, look and listen.  What are they singing?”
Hark! Hark! the herald angels sing
“Glory to our Lord and King!”
[from “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” by Charles Wesley]
“What do You hear, Lord?  Listen to them as they sing.”
Lo,  He comes on clouds descending,
Once for favored sinners slain;
Thousand, thousand saints attending,
Swell the triumph of His train:
Alleluia,  Alleluia!
God [appears] on earth to reign.
[from “Lo, He Comes with Clouds Descending,”
by John Cennick & Charles Wesley]
“What do You think about that, Lord?  What do You think about that?”
And the Lord God in heaven said, “For My name’s sake, for My name’s sake, I will spare the people of England.”  And England never experienced anything comparable, even approaching, the terror and the blood of the French Revolution.  I repeat, the universal verdict of history—it’s not just my observation—it is this: England was spared because of the great Wesleyan revival.
I hasten to our own country.  The announcement was made in our little city where I pastored, “When D-day comes, when the hour arrives for our men to storm the bastion of Germany, when they cross the Channel in Normandy, when the word comes, we’re going to meet in the church and pray.”  The church at Muskogee, Oklahoma, where I pastored, is built like this, just not as large, with a balcony, horseshoe balcony all the way around.  The telephone rang about 1:45 in the morning, “The American soldiers are storming the bastion of Hitler.”  I dressed as hastily as I could, went down to the church, and I could hardly get in, it was jammed and filled with people, at two o’clock in the morning, lifting holy hands in prayer, asking God’s mercies and grace upon our men who were fighting our war for our liberties, for our government, for our nation, for our people, for our families, for our churches, for our children.
And the Lord God looked down from heaven and the Lord spared our nation, and He gave victory to our forces, the great God of all the universe.  We live in the imponderables of Almighty God, whether He says yes or whether He says no.  And He judges according to the contrition and the confession and the repentance and the commitment and the faith of His people [Psalm 7:8].
God of our fathers, known of old,
Lord of our far-flung battle-line,
Beneath whose awful Hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!
The tumult and the shouting dies;
The Captains and the Kings depart:
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
A humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!
Far-called, our navies melt away;
On dune and headland sinks the fire:
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!
[“Recessional,” by Rudyard Kipling]
But a nation is made up of people, of you.  A nation is “we.”  And a nation cannot bow if I do not bow.  A nation does not repent if I do not repent.  A nation does not confess if I do not confess.  A nation is not saved if I am not saved.  A nation is not baptized if I am not baptized.  A nation does not respond if I do not respond.  The revival, the repenting, the committal, the dedication, the consecration, the appeal, the intercession, the prayer begins in me.  And this is our plea, the plea for revival.
Lord God, as we enter our new year, and as we program these days that lie before us, may there be in our hearts, in our lives, in our time, in our homes and families, and in our church, may there be a great wide-open invitation to God; Lord come down, come in, bring with Thee healing, and salvation, and encouragement, and love, and joy, and peace, and glory.  Do it, Lord.  Make it the finest year we have ever known, and through us and our intercessions, spare our city, save our nation, and bless the world.
Now, as we come to our invitation hymn, whatever the Spirit of the Lord lays upon your heart, respond.  Maybe some of you for the first time in life, “I accept Jesus as my Savior, and here I am, pastor” [Romans 10:8-13].  Maybe some of you coming into the fellowship of the church, “Pastor, my wife, my children, all of us are coming today.”  Maybe some of you, answering a special call that the Spirit has pressed upon your heart; as God shall say the word, shall make the invitation, as the Spirit shall open the door, answer with your life. “I’m coming, I’m responding, pastor, I’m doing it now.”  In the balcony round, there’s a stairway down, in the press of the people on the lower floor, there are aisles everywhere.  “I’m on the way, pastor, here I am.”  May angels attend you as you come, while we stand and while we sing.

First Baptist’s long history First Baptist Dallas started in 1868 with just three men and eight women, according to a story by The News on its 150th anniversary. A historical marker indicates the first building “was one-room frame structure, which members financed by weaving rugs, making hominy, preserves, and cheese to sell at fairs near Dallas, then a frontier town of 2,500,” according to the Texas Historical Commission. “Section of Victorian-style, red brick building was erected 1890; is only downtown Dallas Church still on original site.” The historic sanctuary was the site of visits from Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush, according to Jeffress. President Donald Trump visited the new worship center of the church in 2021. The church now has about 16,000 members and says its mission is to transform the world with God’s word one life at a time through its ministries, including its international broadcast of Pathway to Victory and its iCampus, which reaches millions of listeners and viewers worldwide.
I shouldn't tell this story, but .. of course I will.
When I got here in '78, I joined the downtown Y, because I thought you had to belong to the downtown Y.
In Detroit it was a place where you'd run on a track that was a balcony over the gym. Up on the track running were the D.A. and a bunch of cops, reporters, waiters, cab drivers.
Down in the gym, street guys were working out with boxing coaches.
One day, all the cops ran downstairs in a pack and one of the boxers ran out the door. No idea how it ended.
Here, different. First baptist owned the Y. Pastor W.A. Criswell worked out right around the corner from me on something I called the jiggle machine.
You stood on it with a big white belt around your butt, and it jiggled you. I don't know why.
Criswell stood on it wearing either nothing or underpants. Couldn't tell. Didn't look closely.
He was the whitest man I have ever seen and ... how to put this ... not tight. At all.
When the jiggle machine got up to full speed, the good pastor kind of disappeared into an eerie white cloud of jiggle.
A group of young attorneys and money guys who belonged to First Baptist had lockers around me. They would wait, get up their nerve and then go over to the jiggle machine.
One of them would ask Criswell how his investments were doing. Calling out of the jiggle cloud, Criswell would say: "The Lord has smiled on all my investments, but he has especially blessed my holdings in EDS this week."
The young men would regroup at their lockers whispering, "Did he say EDS?"
"Yeah, that's what I heard. EDS."
I'm the son of a Protestant minister myself. I thought, "Wow. That's some preacher!"

Charice Pempengco Now: Being Jake Zyrus + Amazing Talent
Charice Pempengco, popularly known as Jake Zyrus, rose to worldwide fame when her vocal chords astounded many. The Filipina was given the chance to work with the likes of David Forster, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli - up until she became Jake Zyrus, and laid low. Where she is now?
It's her birthday and we are beyond interested.
Tumblr media
Pempengco aka Zyrus is a Filipino singer and actor with an estimated net worth of $6 million.
In Laguna, Philippines, Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco was born.
As a child, she began her career in 2007 by entering in singing contests to help support her family. In 2005, she placed third on the popular Filipino singing competition show "Little Big Star." When a fan uploaded footage of her singing to YouTube, she began to garner significant exposure.
Her performances in Sweden drew the attention of Ten Songs/Productions, and she subsequently recorded her first demo. Since then, her career has soared, and she has performed all over the world and appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Why Coming Out as a Lesbian Was NOT Enough
Tumblr media
In 2013, Charice came out as a lesbian. In 2017, she acquired the name Jake Zyrus and announced her full transition to male.
Jake Zyrus disclosed his former identity as Charice Pempengco and the agony he endured while concealing his gender identity prior to coming out as a transgender man.
"When Charice was found, sitting onstage with David Foster & Friends, Oprah (Winfrey), and Ellen (DeGeneres) was one of my [pains], she revealed in an interview with Toni Gonzaga's YouTube vlog, June 30. Why? Because he knew the magnitude of those opportunities and did not want to appear ungrateful
He noted that he continuously grappled with how he defined himself, even before his music industry career took off. "It was always there - the difficulty and sorrow of concealing oneself, he explained, which many members of the LGBTQ can relate with.
Zyrus described how his confusion damaged his mental health and the moment when his troubles drove him to commit suicide.
When he considered coming out, he learned that he mostly concerned the acceptance of others, namely Foster, Winfrey, and his followers. Following his third try at sucide, he recalled that Foster was one of the first individuals to see him in the hospital. He noted that Foster did not force him to wear a dress for their performance later that day, which he now deems significant. Check the performance below:

He ultimately found self-acceptance and is now certainly, much more at peace with things.

okay, i have a very very VERY serious (very serious) question for you:
im making a wee 'tripple trebble' social media au centered around their three cats: skittles (chloes), sunny (becas), and tbd (aubreys). i need help naming tbd.
Tumblr media
this is her :) shes a norwegian forrest cat and im in between three names: georgia, angel, or belle!!
please pick so that i dont have to make a decision, thanks :)
This is indeed a very serious question hm 🤔 (also I am a Triple Treble slut so I'm very excited kdfljkdlfjglfdk)
My instinct says Belle, because Aubrey is a Southern Gal that hides her accent (had to blow the dust off that headcanon phew), and that feels like a very southern state name for a cat and also pls she's so pretty of COURSE she's called Belle 🥹🥹🥹
Hope this helps (and I understand the urge to get other people to make decisions for you because decisions are HARD) 🥰🩵
