Ladybug and Chat Noir hosting a podcast where they're going to interview Adrien Agreste and so Adrien has to enlist Félix to pretend to be him and Félix gets to just. Make fun of Adrien to his face and to a national audience. Chat Noir keeps arguing with Félix’s Adrien about his own opinions so the next day all the news is about how much everyone thinks Chat Noir hates Adrien Agreste

ML Fic Recs - Ladynoir
I think most readers can appreciate a good rec list, but it’s often the same fics that I see recced again and again. I get why they’re recced - they’re amazing! But I want help finding fic I haven’t already read. So I decided to be the change I want to see in the world. The rule: the fic must have less than a thousand kudos on AO3 (but I’m trying to limit to fics that have less than 500.) Obviously this means a lot of my favourites are not included here, but you’ve probably read all of those already anyway.

To get things started and in honour of the quality ladynoir content we just got (which I’m hoping will inspire even more quality fan content!), let’s have some ladynoir recs. Fics are in no particular order.
Amnesiac? More like Amnesi-Chat by therealjanebingley
Oblivio's back, and this time only Chat Noir gets hit. Based on his limited knowledge and the way Ladybug acts towards him, he makes some assumptions.
One-shot. This is hilarious. From Chat’s genuine glee about his superheroes to Ladybug’s affectionate indulgence to having Chat provide an “outside perspective” on Ladybug’s non-platonic behaviour towards him to the teasing... I could see this actually happening in an Oblivio 2.0 episode.
Experimental Kisses by @komorebirei
Ladybug watched him. Maybe it was guilt, maybe sympathy, maybe a streak of playfulness. Maybe the traumatic akuma experience had softened her up. Whatever the reason, a thought wafted lazily through her mind and out of her mouth. “You know… you’re right. It isn’t fair, is it?”
Chat Noir looked up.
“I remember my first kiss, but you don’t.” She hummed and tapped her chin, making a show of remembering. “It wasn’t a bad kiss, but we were in the middle of fighting an akuma, so I didn’t get to enjoy it much, either.”
Oops—that came out sounding a little, no, a lot more flirty than she had intended. Anyway, if she was going to commit to this idea, she may as well go all in.
One-shot. Ladybug offers to kiss Chat since he doesn’t remember their kiss and the way she reacts to the kiss...it lives in my mind rent-free. I have fallen asleep many a night fantasizing about what the repercussions of the kiss might look like.

One-shot. This fic is short and sweet and absolutely lovely. It’s set post-reveal and despite only being 566 words it’s full of sweetness and feeling.

One-shot. Okay, so I know the author of this one since I download all my favourite fics, but since they’ve orphaned it I’m going to respect that. However, since the author was kind enough to leave the work up so people can continue to enjoy it, I’m going to suggest that people do so! Ladynoir kisses featuring my absolute favourite dynamic: sexually assertive Ladybug and receptive Chat Noir. (Don’t take this to mean the fic has sexual content - it’s just kissing.) AMAZING.

Ladybug enlists Chat Noir's help in decoding the remaining ingredients for the power-up transformation potions. Together, they work on creating them, and possibly destroying the barriers between them.
Multi-chapter. The riddles of the secret potion ingredients are fun to think about, Ladybug and Chat Noir both get to show off their smarts, and the trust and support between the two of them is showcased. Perfect ladynoir.

One-shot. Sofffffttttttt. This is just a beautiful narrative of Ladybug’s fall for Chat with a sweet, sweet ending.
Someone I Can’t Fall In Love With by @yslen54
Ladybug agreed with Chat Noir when he suggested that they should finally share their identities with each other, but she’s been dreading it ever since.
One-shot. This is short and sweet. An identity reveal that explores Ladybug’s feelings for Chat Noir and then plays with the divided heart trope.
The following fics are amazing and absolutely worth reading, but do feature sexual content, so minors beware.

When Adrien sides with his father, he expects to protect Ladybug and buy some time. He doesn't expect that his emotional state will make it so much harder to resist the girl that he loves, until he just gives in.
Multi-chapter. Rated M. Not-quite an enemies AU, but with all the beautiful angst and tension of one. There’s a fair amount of sex, so be warned but it’s SO SO GOOD. And all of the pain and angst is followed by a sweet happy ending.

"What are we doing?" Chat breathes, the words sending a tendril of lucidity back into Ladybug's hormone-addled brain.
It's a fair question.
The origins of this tryst are a little hazy in her mind at this point. Something about a lovesick akuma, maybe? Ladybug vaguely remembers Chat Noir getting struck by something, only seconds before it hit her too. There was a fight, or... there was something she and Chat Noir had been in the middle of doing - something important, like.... save-the-world important - before she'd dragged him underground with the sole intention of climbing him like a tree.
A scorned lover gets akumatized and gains the power to cast Lust. When it comes to distracting Paris' beloved superhero team, this power turns out to be... rather effective.
One-shot. Rated M. The UST of this one damn near killed me. It’s hot AF and I would commit homicide to read the conversation these two have after that lmaoooo

Friends with benefits. It's right there in the name, and it's what they are - friends. Best friends. This is just a way for two consenting adults to relieve stress after akuma fights, with the only person they'd trust with this level of intimacy. Really, what could go wrong? (The real question is, what could go right?)
Multi-chapter. Rated E. The sex is really, really hot. It’s in character and full of emotion. And there’s an amazing identity reveal followed by��“I’m so happy it’s you!” sex. 
A Little Too Far by imploder
Ladybug gets handsy, and Chat Noir lacks self-control. Alternitavely: "Plagg's Worst Nightmare".
One-shot. Rated E. This one is hot and in character and just absolutely amazing steamy ladynoir content. Features my favourite: sexually assertive Ladybug. Because who doesn’t love playing with gender role stereotypes?

(Spoilers for the new episode below)
-Okay so Myléne is preping for the protest. Hyping herself up.
-OMG Myvan is so f***ing cute! He calls her his little mouse!
-THEY KISS! UGH MY HEART!
-Marinette cant sleep because of the construction. Which sucks and is a mood.
-Side note, i paused and got a look at her picture board. Some are from the instagram, and then How did she get some of these?
-So the Oxygen tower? Like its suppose to make more oxygen? but they need to cut down trees to make it? IDK the logic. Also call back to the space trash program.
-Roger trying to be nice. But they wont listen to him.
-Myléne spitting facts
-THEY GOT ARRESTED! I F***ING CANT
-Well not really but they are being taken home.
-IT WAS A SCHOOL DAY. IVAN AND MYLÉNE ARE HARD CORE.
-Marinette made it to class barely and told everyone what happened to myléne.
-HOLD THE PHONE! Did Ms.Bustier... did she just do something a GOOD teacher would do? Oh the bustier salters are not gonna like this.
-Ms.Bustier about to step in. with a spontaneous trip for REAL Education.
-Now you can tell that Caline in season 4 f***s. Because she is about to RAIL the mayor for this bulls***

-And Chloé is there to just make things worse. Right on cue
-And Marinette pointed out that all of the plastic that the thing creates for artificial air does not solve the problem. Which was very Succinct.
- Which to be fair I liked Myléne's explaination better, but Marinette got the mayor to slip up so Points.
-Myléne is channeling Captain Planet right now
-Marinette is like, why didnt you mention this sooner.
-And they both are like "We did, for months."
-Now I honestly think you cant blame the class for that, I too ignore those people in vests in the city that try to talk about the environment.
-Alya is filming it as the class intervines
-Oh now the families are getting IN ON THIS! You go Nora!
-OMG THE MIME IS BACK! YAY! I missed him.
-OH SO THATS WHERE CHLOÉ GETS IT FROM.
-And Adrien is joining in the cause (CUE MARINETTE HANDHOLD BLUSH)
-And WAYHEM IMMEDIATELY SHOWS UP WITH THE CARDBOARD CUTOUT AND FAN GIRLS! I swear they were in the bush waiting.
-Marinette is caught in 4k staring, but no one else is seeing it
-Gabriel seeing his son rebel, he gets a call from Andre and basically said.
-"Lol you figure it out slut."
-And Gabriel goes to be evil
-And now the mayor gets overwhelmed.
-And Gabriel makes an amok and akuma.
-And Maledikator is back
-(wait is everyone just standing there WATCHING HIM GET AKUMATIZED?! WHAT THE F*** EVERYONE?!
-Welp the vore of the episode is there.
-TINY MAYORS!
-Nino's head has a little podium in his head. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS

- Myléne took Marinette before she could transform.

-Marinette, that was brilliant, but also... wow just wow

-Myléne gonna get her miraculous! yes its time
-WAIT, SHE HAS A FEAR OF BADGES!? Thats hilarious.
-Myléne trying to deny being a hero. But ladybug encouraged her.

-Mullo laughed at her, poor Myléne
-Mullo get squeky thats cute. And the transformation sequence is very cute.
-Leap of faith time!
-Oh wow, her use of multitude just made Marinettes use look like weak sauce.
-Polymouse is killing it!
-Oh no they got chat noir.... WAIT HIS CAT EAR IS REAL.... so many questions...
-Ladybug made fun of his puns.
-And zoé is there.
-MIRACULOUS TEAM TIME.
-Chat noir made sure he was in the team pose
-Okay this was clever on how all of them used their powers.
-Oh neat wind was finally used.
-Ladybug just broke the record for de-evilization.
- TEAM FIST BUMP!!!
-and the mayor got the charm.
-Ah yes bureaucracy, the best way to say things get done without actually getting done.
-So the mayor decided Trees. Not gonna lie. I liked the Lorax plot. It made me laugh
-Marinette caught daydreaming again... but thankfully adrien didnt notice. (she yeeted herself out of there with alya.)
-Adrien got in trouble. Though I dont think he is a sentimonster. He got cataclysmed in season 3 and didnt start short circuiting. So Gabriel is just fidgeting with the ring because whatever reason.

I give it a 7/10
It was a pretty chill episode, but its ending was a bit quiet.
I liked Myléne in it and I didnt really feel the cringe.
It was nice seeing Bustier act like a teacher.
Not a bad episode. it was a pleasant watch. Though i am glad I didnt rush off to go see it.

Also, I don’t actually take “Didn’t Need Burrows” referring specifically to the staff/fandom since that’s outside of the show, but I also definitely think about them all the time and like sticking them in here.

We at least know that Luka now appears in a later episode, but this could easily be worded as “Luka can be retconned away from being Marinette’s love interest and everyone will act like he and Marinette aren’t that close or never made soft eyes at each other.”
Except I wouldn’t count on Lukanette being retconned because that would stop the show from being allowed to make Marinette feel bad and guilty and possibly cause another akuma over it, plus possibly Luka “rejecting” his feelings for her and thus making her feel worse that he sees her in a lesser light.

Part 5 of Everything’s Gonna Be Okay || Masterlist

Notes- Crazy how I’ve had this chapter drafted for the longest. I went through a spout of hating all of my writing so I wasn’t really motivated. I pretty much just wrote Alyanette until I felt confident enough to continue this so,, yay here we are a couple months later, sorry for the wait.
Begin
She’d never say it aloud, but she adored her partner. She admired him for his optimism, loyalty, and how stupidly brave he could be during battles.
As she detransformed on her bed her mind also wandered to Adrien. It did that a lot recently, flipping back and forth between both blonde boys. It confused her heart, but still she knew it belonged to Adrien, as it always had, as it always would. With his soft laughs and softer smiles, Marinette couldn’t believe she was lucky enough to have him.
She laid there, staring up dreamily toward the night sky and holding her hands to her heart until a shadow obscured her view.
She heard a small knock and smiled. Did this stray ever go home?
She opened her sky light and stuck her head out.
“To what do I owe the pleasure savior of Paris?”
In the dim moonlight she could see Chat’s eyes crinkle as he smiled.
“I request your company, and perhaps some sustenance?” He said in an overly formal tone as he kneeled before her.
She laughed before inviting him in.
As he climbed down into her room she could see the glow in his eyes. Something about him was different, he seemed happier.
Most of the times that he would come Marinette could see a lonely sad look break through when he thought she wasn’t looking. It’s not that she minded of course, if she could be a form of comfort for Chat like he was for her she’d take it in a heartbeat.
“I have some chocolate pastries here, although they aren’t too fresh.” She offered him as he crossed the room over to her desktop. She didn’t normally make a habit of keeping food in her room, but Tikki had been snacking. Hopefully she wouldn’t mind too much if Chat stole a few.
“Sounds great Marinette.” He called over his shoulder as he sat in her desk chair and sat in front of her computer.
“What do you say we find some two player game on here and- oh.” Chat stopped mid-sentence and Marinette turned around from grabbing a pastry to see what had happened.
Apparently she forgot to close out the folder of Adrien’s ad photos she had saved on her computer.
She turned bright red as she ran over to the computer and quickly closed it out.
“That’s uh... research! Yeah research on some Gabriel designs!” She lied, facing her back towards Chat so he wouldn’t notice the blush now spreading down her neck.
“Right, well if it were research on Gabriel designs, why only have pictures of Adrien? Other models wear Gabriel brand clothes.” She could practically hear the teasing smirk on his face.
She turned to wack him softly on the shoulder. “Keep on this topic and I’ll make you watch me eat the pastries right here!” She threatened.
Chat held his hands up in mock surrender. “Woah so sorry Adrien Agreste fan #1.” He teased again.
In response Marinette took a large bite out of the pastry she had planned to give him. She made sure to make a show of it, with accompanying sound effects and an exaggerated sigh after she finished chewing.
“Marinette you wound me!” Chat whined, crossing his arms in a dramatic childlike fashion.
Marinette stopped to think about how adorable his pout was before she laughed and went to grab the second pastry.
“Test me again and there will be no more sweets when you come over.” She bluffed.
Chat practically snatched the snack from her hands.
“Then I’d have no reason to come back.” He said through a stuffed mouth.
“No, I think you enjoy my company too much.” She gloated before pulling up a chair beside him. “Now what game did you want to play?”
They spent the next two hours playing fireboy and watergirl, where Marinette was shocked to find they made an incredible team.

The akuma was hard, there was no denying that. The akuma called itself Obedience. Anyone struck with its ray was forced to do what ever it said, as though playing a game of simon says with dire stakes.
Marinette regretted staying up so late with Chat the night before. How he managed to have the amount of energy he did was astounding.
Chat had already used his cataclysm and Ladybug had used her lucky charm to set up a trap, all they had to do was lead Obedience into it.
Unfortunately, they needed to charge up before that, seeing as the beeping of their miraculous was giving its final warning before it was going to give up.
They landed on a distant building and de-transformed behind opposite sides of a pillar.
“M’lady do you have any extra snacks? Plagg ate up all his cheese before the battle and I didn’t have time to restock.” Chat called from the other side of the stone divider.
Ladybug giggled. “Looks like you need to learn how to control your friend Chaton. Here.” She reached out with a macaroon for Chat to take.
Her curiosity got the best of her and she couldn’t help but admire his hand as he reached over to take the sweet.
Soft and flawless, other than the messy blue nail polish that glowed in the sunlight. At first she didn’t think anything of it.
“Going for a new look kitty?” She asked lightheartedly as Tikki refueled.
“What? Oh you mean my nails. Well, I had someone paint them for me yesterday and I guess I distracted them too much and they made a mess.” He replied absentmindedly.
Wheels began to turn in Marinette’s brain, but unsure as to why, she didn’t try to make them stop.
“Oh, someone painted them? They look cute, did someone finally take in this alley cat?”
“For someone who hates puns, you really do use a lot of cat related metaphors toward me bug. And as a matter of fact I do, and she’s my girlfriend.” He bragged. “Plagg claws out!”
Ladybug transformed as well and was going to make a joke before a few dot connected before her. Messy blue nails. A girlfriend who painted them the day before. That nail polish looked all too familiar. She tried to push it down, but the dots were already connected.
Suddenly she flashed back to Chat Noir seeing her folder of Adrien photos last night and she felt sick to her stomach.
“Hey bug? You ready to kick this akuma Chat style?”
Ladybug snapped out of her trance. Even if everything that she just thought of was true, there was still an enemy to defeat. She could fully panic later.
“I think you mean Ladybug style. Now let’s go.”
They only just managed to get to the Eiffel Tower before they heard her again.
“Where are you Ladybug and Chat Noir? Don’t you know good children come when they’re called?” Obedience sang from a few streets over.
Chat strode over to lure her to the trap.
“Well maybe this kitty needs to be put in time out.” He replied leaning on his baton juvenilely.
“Oh no sweet boy, bad children must be taught better!” She pointed cane at him and an array of vegetables began to shoot out at him.
“Oh no! I’m afraid already perfectly healthy ma’am!” He leapt and dodged as he lead her straight to Ladybug.
As he turned the corner, there she stood, hands defiantly on her hips a couple of feet away. He scampered around a very large pool of a certain substance that was hardly noticeable unless you knew what you were looking for.
He took his side beside his lady as Obedience followed behind him.
“I’ve got you now tomcat!” Obedience turned the corner too fast and slipped straight into the street filled with a ridiculous amount of oil.
She screamed as she slid, and in her fall her cane flew from her fingers. It’s momentum led it straight toward them. Ladybug stopped it with the bottom of her shoe, and stomped on it with a satisfied grin.
Once she let the akuma go and threw the now empty bottle of oil to reverse the effects of the akuma, she turned to Chat.
“Pound it!” She said it with her usual confidence, but Chat could see something else lingering in her eyes.
But he was supposed to be practicing piano at the moment so he didn’t exactly have too much time to question her about it.
“Pound it.” He replied, touching his fist to hers.

“Tikki spots off.”
Ladybug de-transformed in her room and immediately began pacing.
“Crap crap crap crap! Tikki I accidentally figured out his identity! How could I be so careless as to look at his hands? Why did I care that much.”
Tikki sighed as she sat on Marinette’s desk. Sometimes it was best to let her get it all out.
“Well obviously I cared that much because Chat Noir is my recently established boyfriend! God he’s going to get such an ego boost when he finds out we’re dating.” Marinette threw herself face first into her chaise.
“So you’re going to tell him?” Tikki zipped over to hove beside her holder’s head.
There was a muffled response from the chair.
“What was that Marinette?”
“No, not yet. First I want to see how much he knows, if he knows anything at all.” Marinette rolled over on the chaise, laying as though she were at a therapists appointment.
“Tikki do you think this will effect our relationship? Will it put us in danger?”
Tikki’s little heart warmed.
“Marinette, you guys will be fine. If anything I think this would bring you closer together. If it puts you in any more danger you’ll handle it together, like you always do.” Tikki flew closer to hug Marinette’s cheek and Marinette let out a deep sigh as she brought a hand up to hug Tikki back.
“Thanks Tikki. You’re the best kwamii anyone could ask for.” Marinette said as the stress melted off of her.
“And you’re the best Ladybug I’ve ever known.” She replied warmly.
Of course things would work out. This was Chat she was talking about, Adrien. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t help her solve, with or without the masks.

After going over Tikki’s advice for what felt like hours, Marinette came to a conclusion.
She would tell Chat Noir (Adrien?) who she was. It was only fair, considering she knew his identity. She wouldn’t have came to this on her own, so for the millionth time in her life she thanked Tikki.
But first, she needed to have a little fun. She noticed how Adrien would tease her lately for how flustered she got around him, so she figured the least she could do was use this moment to get revenge.
Too excited to sit still, she transformed to confront her boyfriend.

Adrien was laying in bed reading manga when he heard a tapping at his window. He looked over in shock to see his lady waiting outside.
“Ladybug?” He nearly stuttered out.
She was glowing in the moonlight, backlit in all her glory. She had a playful grin in her lips that made Adrien uneasy.
“Hey pretty boy, mind if I pop in?” She asked casually, as if it were totally normal for Adrien Agreste to have a spotted heroine outside of his window.
He calmed his heart, remembering this was his dorky girlfriend and invited her in. He had to remember to act friendly, not like he would with Marinette, nor like he would as Chat Noir. This wouldn’t be easy.
“Your nails look cute.” She offered casually as she sauntered over to sit in his desk chair.
Adrien froze. Ladybug had noticed Chat Noir’s earlier too.
He quickly pushed that thought away. Marinette had been oblivious of his identity up until this point, even after the thousands of clues he’d managed to drop. He wasn’t exactly concerned anymore.
He decided to take advantage of the chance to compliment his girlfriend without her being able to completely reject it.
“Yeah my girlfriend painted them! She’s so cute and sweet and pretty.” He replied dreamily.
He could see Ladybug’s eyes widen and her blush grow. This was going great.
“Did you need something?” He asked innocently.
“I- uh-“ Adrien laughed, his girlfriend really wasn’t too different outside of the suit. Flustered and flushed, she was still Marinette.
Suddenly something in her eyes changed. One second they were wide and almost panicked, the next they were full of suspicion.
“You know don’t you!” She accused more than asked. She stalked over and jabbed a finger lightly into his chest.
Now it was Adrien’s turn to panic.
“Know what?” He asked, hoping to play dumb.
“You do!”
So much for feigning innocence. Instead he opted for begging for forgiveness.
“Marinette, i’m so sorry! It’s just I knew you’d panic if I told you when I found out and it’s not like I tried to figure out your identity! It’s just that you put so much effort into the whole kwamiibuster scheme-“
“You’ve known since kwamiibuster?!” She practically shouted.
“-and you looked so cute.” Adrien added still trying to lighten the blow. “I didn’t tell anyone and I’ve known for a while and nothing bad happened so I figured-“
Ladybug cut off his rambling with a kiss.
Adrien was stunned at first but then ultimately sighed into the kiss as he leaned into her touch. His arms looped around her waist as he pulled her close, hands tracing patterns into her spandex covered back.
He pulled pack slightly, noses still touching. He could feel her breath ghost his lips.
“So we’re okay?” He asked hopefully, eyes looking deep into hers as they caught their breath.
“Of course, minou. I just wish you would’ve told me before you saw that embarrassing folder on my computer.” She blushed.
“Oh? But then I wouldn’t be able to tease you about it. Tell me, which one was your favorite? Do you think the greens really brought out my eyes?”
“You’re the worst!” She exclaimed, attempting to pull from his embrace. Adrien’s arms held her fast in place.
“You love me!” He announced proudly as he pulled her into a tight hug. “Ladybug is dating Chat Noir!”
“Would you be quiet! I don’t want to have to explain to Nathalie why Paris’ superhero is standing in your room.” She giggled into Adrien’s shoulder.
“Ladybug is dating Chat Noir” He whispered, this time softer as he nuzzled her neck.
“Yes she is.” Ladybug sighed, resigning to Adrien’s touch.
“Now,” He released the girl as he turned and clasped his hands together. “de-transform. We’ve had plenty of date night in your room-“
“Those weren’t technically dates” She interjected.
“-And not enough in mine.” He gave her a pointed look as he continued. “Of course, since it’s my room, I have full say in what we watch.” He could hear Marinette’s pout as she de-transformed. “But I’ll take suggestions.”
Marinette crossed over to where Adrien was pacing in anticipation and threw her arms around his shoulders from behind. She placed a quick kiss on the base of his neck.
“New Girl again!” She said excitedly.
“No.”

Chapter 5: Banter
“Were you waiting for long?” Ladybug asked, panting a bit from her underwater dash.
“Nah, it’s all good. So, how was your day today?” Chat asked, smiling as he languidly plucked at the grass nearby while laying on his back.
 “It was wonderful. We had an impromptu mermaid’s ball which was for, well, me, and uhm, it was supposed to run late till the night but—”
 “You ran away? Or should I say,  swam  away?” Chat chuckled.
Ladybug shrugged. “You got me.”
“How funny,” the man grinned at her. 
 There was a moment of silence before Chat asked ruefully, “A ball for finding a suitor?”
“How did you know?” Ladybug gaped at him.
 The man chuckled again. “We both ran away from our balls. Guess we  mermaid  for each other, M’Lady.” He winked at her.
 The mermaid stared blankly at him. “Did you — did you just pun,  chaton ?”
The blond flopped himself to lay on his stomach, staring into the eyes of his lady love. “Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. My green grassy eyes are just enjoying the heavenly rains of your eyes, Bugaboo.”
 “Oh, so we are being flirty, hm?” Ladybug rolled her eyes. “No wonder I want to drown you right now.”
 “Aww, Bugaboo,” Chat cooed, tucking a stray hair behind her ear and making her breath hitch, before he continued, “Trust me, I am drowning in your eyes. I bet it was hard for God to make your eyes out of pure, crystal-clear ocean water.”
 For a moment, Ladybug was transfixed. Seeing Chat’s eyes twinkle with mischief, she caught the implied meaning.
  Ladybug 0, Chat Noir 1.
  Oh, two can play at this game, mister, Ladybug thought to herself. Then, smirking, she leaned a little closer as she stared deep into Chat’s eyes.
 “Well, if He took mine from the ocean, kitty, then yours are purely emerald.”
Given his flabbergasted expression, he certainly hadn’t been expecting a comeback.
  Ladybug 1, Chat Noir 1.
 As silence stretched on between the pair, Ladybug started noting the proximity the two shared. Somehow, the way his breath fanned her face and his eyes stared deep into hers, it made her feel as if she had left her stomach back at the mermaid ballroom. Even Chat was panting, his slightly dilated pupils giving his transformation a more realistic, feral appearance.
 “Do you feel it too?” Chat asked in a low tone. A tone that undeniably sent a slight shiver through her spine to the end of her tail.
“Feel what?” Ladybug asked, her voice quavering a bit.
 Chat reached forward to cup her face as he lightly brushed his thumb across her cheek, his voice barely above a whisper. “I bet the water’s temperature must have gone up, now that you are here, Ladybug.”
 A wave of feelings that had been stirring in her heart for Lord knows how long crashed upon the mermaid now in full force. She hadn’t wanted to attend the ball because—because it felt like double-crossing her kitty. Even if she was uncertain about her feelings for him. 
Passion and love were fighting against sanity for dominance, with her emotions winning the battle.
 This conversation, it wasn’t a competition or  banter now. It was the truth of the denied emotions being revealed in the passion of the moment.
 Her mind was confuzzled, her heart feeling heavy with the burden of denial. And finally, she decided to let loose her burden.
 That was when a sound caught her attention. It wasn’t the ragged breathing of her or her kitty, or their racing hearts. It sounded more like a gasp of surprise, exclamation and—
 Warning signals flashing in her mind, Ladybug leaned back in an instant, her brow furrowed as she lowered herself into the river till her eyes were the only body part of hers peeking out.
 “Someone’s here,” she whispered to Chat as he looked at her in confusion. 
 Eyes widening a bit, the man gave her a subtle nod before getting up and walking leisurely around the place, whistling nonchalantly all the while. 
Returning after what seemed like eternity, Chat laid down on the grass again, causing Ladybug to resurface.
 “No one was there, Bugaboo. I checked with my awesome six senses”
“But I am sure—”
 “You know,” Chat interrupted her, his serious tone causing her to look at him. “Maybe my senses are affected by the lack of the vitamin my healer told me about.”
“Lack of a vitamin?” she echoed back, clearly confused.
 “Yes, a very essential vitamin for the body,” he answered somberly.
“Oh goodness, Chat!” The mermaid clasped her hands around her mouth in worry, “Are you okay? Why are you not eating well and—”
 She was interrupted again, this time with his fingers on her lips put in a shushing motion. As she stared at him in shock, he whispered, “You.”
Ladybug just blinked.
 “Vitamin U, that’s what I lack, M’Lady,” the blond claimed, his eyes sparkling with mischief and lips pulled in that stupid, lopsided grin of his.
 The mermaid continued to look at him blankly, before without any word, she dived into the river.
 Chat took a quick look behind his back, his faux ears trying to catch any suspicious noise. Earlier, he had been distracted enough to not notice anything. But it was best to not take any chances.
However, there wasn’t anything suspicious at all.
 Maybe she had left because he had crossed a line?
Worried he might have made her uncomfortable for a second time in a week, Chat dashed towards the river bank and laid down on his stomach, peering into the dark river waters below.
 If she was angry with him, he was surely in so much troub-
 Suddenly, the water surface trembled as Ladybug emerged again, causing Chat to nearly yelp as he leaned back in shock and surprise.
 Unlike the times when she rose out of water seeming completely dry, this time her entire form was noticeably covered in water, the droplets glimmering in the moonlight and making her skin shine like crystal. Her raven locks, too, clung to her face and form, the front bangs framing her face in a way that made it look both mysterious and enticing. 
 Well, he was definitely in trouble now.
 Before Chat could open his mouth to ask if she was alright, Ladybug suddenly leaned forward till their noses were almost touching. Chat let out a small yelp of surprise as his breath hitched, the sudden proximity causing his stomach to flip-flop around in anticipation and excitement. 
 “Say,  chaton ,” she said in a low whisper, her left hand curling around the top of his shirt as she traced his jawline with her right, “If I were to take out two of the 26 letters of the English alphabet to give you an answer, which two will I take out?”
 As water droplets fell from her body on his leather costume, he gulped audibly, his throat parched dry. And Ladybug’s smirk wasn’t helping his case at all.
 “Uhm, ‘Q’ and ‘T’?” he chuckled nervously, trying to get over the effect Ladybug was having on him.
“Nope, try again,” she said in a low voice, giggling a bit as her fingernail dug into his cheek and caused him to inhale sharply.
 “‘O’—’O’ and ‘K’?” He panted out hurriedly before leaning in to capture her lips. But she just dodged him at the right moment, her voice teasing.
“Nuh uh, wrong answers don’t get you kisses, kitty cat.”
 The man just grumbled, wishing upon any star for this torture to get over.
“I—I give up. Please.”
 Ladybug didn’t answer but just smirked, her eyes twinkling in challenge. 
 Sighing, Chat hung his head down, rolling his eyes a little. 
“Okay, I give up. You win this round.”
 “Yay!” the mermaid cheered, flapping her tail in water in excitement and hugging Chat tight. He let out a relieved chuckle as he wrapped his arms around her. 
He could deal with an excited, bubbly Ladybug. A finned seductress, though, was out of his league right now.
 “So—” Chat asked after a moment as they broke the hug, “—curiosity’s killing this cat. What was the answer to your question?”
Chuckling, Ladybug pulled him close as she whispered lightly in his ear, “The answer is ‘N’ and ‘O’. And this is a consolation prize for you.”
 Giving the surprised man a small peck on the cheek, the mermaid giggled as she dived back into the river and swam away.
 Chat stared stupidly into the space for a moment or two, sighing in bliss, before the answer hit him.
 “I DIDN’T JUST LOSE TO YOU ON THAT STUPID QUESTION!”

“ I can just imagine the profit I’ll make, when Monsieur finds out that the supposedly clean river is full of those humanoid fish.”

Chapter 31 - Time travel
Ladybug and Chat Noir bounced out of Marinette’s bedroom, making their way to the area the akuma was last seen. Lost Time was hanging out at Lycée Carnot when he called out for the victim he wanted.
“Where are you, ma chère Marinette?
“Marinette?” Ladybug questioned quietly as they perched silently on the building nearest to their high school. “What does he want with me?”
“Are you sure it’s for you, milady? Maybe it’s for another Marinette.”
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng!” He drawled out. Ladybug stared at Chat with an eye roll and Chat pursed his lips in a bit of protective haste.
“Who is that and why is he calling for you?”
Ladybug stared at the akuma for a long moment to figure out who the akuma could have been. Trying to denote the features and build, she gasped as one person came to mind.
“Jules?”  
Chat was about to question who this Jules-person was but Ladybug beat him to it. “He’s in my art program. He’s been flirting with me and I’ve been trying to stop it without being rude, never giving in to what he was saying because of being in love with you and all. He did ask me out once, but I turned him down as gently as I could.” She looked over to Chat and Chat’s eyes were narrowed and filled with a bit of jealousy. “Knock it off. I didn’t want to date him and as you can see, I’m with you.”
Chat’s ears drooped and he knew she was right. “Sorry.”
She placed a caring hand on his wrist. “Hey. It’s alright, Chat. Let’s focus on the akuma, okay?” When Chat smiled and nodded in agreement, she turned back to stare at the akuma. “But why? Why is he acting like this all of a sudden?”
“You rather hang out with a cat than spend time with me?” Lost Time laughed bitterly. “Why don’t you show your face to me. Then I can show you how to have a real good time.”
Both Ladybug and Chat smacked their foreheads and groaned.
“I’m surprised Alya didn’t say anything to me when we talked earlier.”
“Nino didn’t message me either to see if I had seen the photo. It must have happened over the last few hours or so when we were... you know” He waggled his brows.
Ladybug continued and ignored Chat’s false inuendo. “Either that, or someone placed it on social media before Alya found out about it and that’s how he found out.”
“But then that means people are going to think you’re dating Chat Noir.
“Even though I am....” She added with a wink and a flick to his bell. “Well, whatever the reasoning, we have a lot to figure out so we don’t expose you, Chat.”
“Yay...” He said sarcastically. “Alright, LB. What’s the plan?”
“Well, I’m going to need you to bring me there... as Marinette.”
“Ladybug, no. I can’t.
“It’s okay. I trust you to protect me, okay?”
Chat gave her a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll protect you. I promise.”
Ladybug detransformed and Marinette stood in her place. “Okay, Chat. He’s going to be angry at you, so you’ll need to drop me down somewhere below and I’ll walk over to him. Keep close to me in the shadows and if something seems wrong, come get me. I won’t know where the akuma is hiding until I get closer. He doesn’t seem very irrational, at least, not right now. We’ll see in a bit.”  
Chat dropped her down to the alleyway. When she felt okay enough to move forward, she nodded at Chat to hide. She meekly popped her head out of the alleyway and made her way to Lost Time.
“Jules?” Marinette called out, nervously.
“Marinette!” He announced, happily. Marinette walked closer to him; her hands were clutched to her heart to act like it was out of fear. “Please do not be scared. I won’t hurt you.”
Marinette finally reached him, her eyes constantly searching for an object that didn’t make sense to his wardrobe. She noticed he was wearing all black, numbers and empty clock ticks scattered all over his clothes in neon greens, purples, and yellows. His eyes were covered in translucent green shades, while his hands were covered with purple gloves. The only thing that stood out was a silver watch on his wrist.
“Jules? What happened. Why are you like this?”
His demeanor changed from happy to angry. “I’m not Jules. I’m Lost Time.” He started. “You. You broke my heart, Marinette. I have been flirting with you, talking with you, even asking you out, and yet you go out with that mangy tom cat? What does he have that I don’t?”
“Chat Noir took me out dancing because I was upset. But he is my best friend and he surprised me. Please, Jules. There’s nothing to be upset about.”
“Lies!” He screamed causing Marinette to take a step back. “I saw you dancing with him. I saw you holding him the way you did. I saw that you almost kissed him if it wasn’t for the fireworks scaring you apart. Don’t you dare lie to me with that nonsense. I. Saw. You! The pictures on Instagram don’t lie.”
Okay, so she was definitely going to have to wheedle her way out of this one somehow. But this also meant that she couldn’t date Adrien publicly right away until this entire mess is fixed.
“Okay, okay. Yes, we almost kissed. I won’t lie to you. I get why you’re upset, but please, I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“I lost my chance with you. Lost my time to be with you. Haven’t you ever felt like you lost time?” He said, his voice strained from the pain.
“I know how that feels, Jules. Please trust me. I lost so much time with someone because of my own fault. Because of my own insecurities. I get it.”
“Well, I don’t care how you feel because I’m hurt and the only way to fix this is if I give Hawkmoth Ladybug and Chat Noir’s miraculous.” The butterfly mask covered Lost Time’s eyes and as quickly as it came, it was gone. “Lucky for me, Hawkmoth gave me a great idea.”
Lost Time lunged at Marinette and she ran towards where she felt Chat would be hiding. Running quickly behind her, she could feel Lost Time gaining speed. Marinette looked over her shoulder and her eyes blew wide when he stuck out his arm and a ball of light started to form over his watch. Using his index and middle fingers, he pushed the beam out towards her.
Chat Noir jumped out just in time to leap her out of the way from a blast of light. Lost Time groaned out in anger as he watched Chat pick up Marinette bridal style off to an area where he could safely put her down.
A few more beams of light pounced towards them, one actually hitting them and engulfing them in a translucent light.
“Bye-bye kitty cat. I wonder how you’re Ladybug is going to do without her protector around.”

Marinette woke up splayed out on the roof of a building. Chat was already awake, rubbing his head as he overlooked his position.
“Chat?” Marinette groaned out as she sat herself up.  
Chat ran over to Marinette and helped her up. “Hey are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I feel woozy, but I’m okay.” She looked up at him and could see a bruise forming on his forehead. She pushed his hair away to look at the injury better. “You have a bump. Are you okay?”
“Besides that, yeah. I’m okay. We’re still in Paris, but it isn’t our timeline anymore.”
“What do you mean?” Marinette said, confused. Chat pointed to a billboard over on the other side of the rooftop where it showed an older Adrien Agreste wearing a fitted black suit, a black button down with the silver buttons with an “M” inscribed on each one, and a signature red tie. He gave the camera a smoldering look, a slight smirk pulling at the edge of his lips, while his thumb pulled his bottom lip down just a tiny bit.  
“Damn, Adrien.” Marinette said, fanning herself. “You age amazingly.”
“That’s not all, Marinette. Look in the corner.”
Marinette looked and noticed a change in who Adrien was modeling for. “MDC? But that’s my symbol. That’s my signature.” She turned to him. “I- I made it?”
Chat gave her a tight squeeze. “I always knew you could do it.”
“I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but...”
Chat and Marinette turned around and noticed three figures standing on the rooftop.  
“Hey Minibug, Kitty Noir!” Bunnyx waved at them, excitedly. “We were wondering when you were going to show up.”
“Bunnyx? Ladybug? Chat Noir?” Marinette called out, looking at each one.
“Hey you two.” The older Ladybug called out. Her hair was out of her signature pigtails and into a ponytail. Her suit had changed too. She wore a red and black spotted high collar jacket over a black skin tight suit and gloves with a pair of red and black spotted thigh-high boots. She looked to be about 25 if Marinette had to guess.
“Nice of you to beam in.” The older Chat Noir said making younger Chat laugh out in a fit of giggles. His suit looked exactly the same except his zipper went down a little to where his bell used to sit. His hair was a high fade with longer teased locks dripped over to one side. He had a more muscular build, but overall looked as good as the billboard they spotted him on.
“I can see that I don’t stop punning, huh?” Younger Chat Noir finally said.
“Not at all, mini-me. We actually get better with our puns.”
“Told you Marinette. You’ll have to live with this furrever!”
“He’s right you know.” Older Ladybug teased. She walked up to Marinette and placed a hand on her shoulder. She gave Marinette a confident smile. “I can at least tell you this much. It’s okay you know. I remember this whole akuma and I remember what I had told myself right before the alert came out.” She quickly looked over at the older Chat Noir who was chatting away with his younger self. She knew he was going to give the same speech but with an added pun or two to break the ice. “He’s not wrong in his pre-proposal, even though he couldn’t wait 5 seconds after revealing himself.”
Marinette looked over to Chat and he was positively beaming. Older Ladybug leaned down and whispered something to her ear. “Keep this between you and me, but Adrien is going to need something positive to keep his focus on. It’s going to be a big year for both of you in so many ways. I won’t give away too much because I don’t want the future to change over something I said, but remember to follow his lead on some things, give him all the love you know he deserves, and always keep working together, no matter how hard some moments become.”
Marinette looked up with a frown. “Okay. I promise you I will.”
“I know you will.” Ladybug stood back up and looked over to Chat to see if he had finished his part of their conversation. When older Chat Noir looked up, they nodded towards each other in silent communication over their next move.  
“Alright. We are all here to bring these two back to their timeline. Marinette. You are going to be bait. Mini-kitty. You’re going to keep tabs on her and be by her side the entire time. You are going to lure him out and then capture the akuma. I’ll be on standby to help purify the akuma since Marinette can’t do it. Kitty, I want you to stand by in case something goes wrong. Bunnyx. You keep an eye out to make sure the akuma isn’t messing up the time line. Everyone got it?”
“Got it.” Everyone said in unison.
Ladybug called out for her Lucky Charm and a ring dropped into her hands. Ladybug winked at Marinette and older Chat Noir let out a happy chuckle as he crossed his arms and shook his head.
“I remember this. Mini-kitty. That one’s for you.”
Mini-kitty beamed again and Marinette looked over to him with a happy sigh. “Later kitty. Okay?”
“Okay!”
Chat took out his baton and helped bring the two of them back onto the ground. They called out for Lost Time.
“Jules!” Marinette yelled; her hands wrapped around her mouth like a megaphone. “Jules, come out. Can we talk?”
Chat followed her lead. “Jules? Lost Time? I wanted to apologize. You can have Marinette! I’m not in love with her! I just got caught up in the moment.” Marinette stopped for a second and stared at him.  
“What?” He said with a shrug. “We have to lure him out somehow.”
Marinette went back to calling. “Jules? Please come ou-”
A bright light appeared and Lost Time dropped onto the street in front of them. “Well, well, well. You are giving up on her that easily? I told you Marinette, he’s not worth it.”
Marinette ran up to the akuma and grabbed onto his hands. “You’re right, Jules. I’m so sorry for never giving you a chance.” She lowered her hands until it rested on his forearms. “Could you ever forgive me for how I rejected you?”
Jules narrowed his eyes but a hint of a smile could be seen. He gazed into her bright blue eyes. “Do you- do you really mean that?”
“Yes. Jules. Secretly, I liked you. I was just too enamored with my old crush to see the truth.” Marinette placed one hand on his cheek as she continued to lower her other hand until it reached the watch. “So how about that date?”
“Da- date?” The akuma swallowed, still staring into her eyes.  
“Of course.” She continued until she reached the watch, unclasping it from its spot and throwing it behind her.
“Chat!” She screamed out, throwing the watch in his direction.
Chat called out his cataclysm, grasping onto the watch as it disintegrated into ash. Ladybug and older Chat Noir dropped down beside their younger selves and Ladybug captured the akuma, purifying it into the white butterfly.
Bunnyx dropped down beside the older duo, and the three winked as they managed quick goodbyes.
Ladybug called out for her Miraculous Ladybug and as quickly as they arrived, they were back to their original timeline.
“Time travel is weird.” Marinette said to Chat as he nodded to agree.
After Chat made sure the akuma victim was alright and Marinette talked over the problem with Jules, Chat Noir helped Marinette onto his back, bouncing over the rooftops until they reached her balcony.
“So that was a wild ride, huh Marinette?”
Chat detransformed and Adrien wrapped his arms around Marinette’s waist.
“You’re telling me.” Marinette nuzzled her nose into his neck. “So, Ladybug told me something today.”
“And what’s that bug?”
“That I should follow my heart.”
Adrien pulled away from her for a second and scrunched his nose. “Well, what is your heart telling you?”
“That you’re right and if you still want an answer to your question, I can give you an answer.”
Adrien waited with bated breath. “If you really don’t want to wait to propose to me, then I won’t make you wait. When you’re ready, ask me. I already know my answer.”
He smiled brightly, his pearly white teeth beaming in the moonlight. “Well don’t make me wait bug. What’s your answer?”
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down into a long, but gentle, kiss. When she pulled away to take a breath, she leaned her forehead against his and peered into his glossy green eyes.
“Yes.”

Red Ribbons
Summary: Marinette decides to wear Ladybug’s hairstyle for a day, Adrien can’t deal, and they both get too flustered to think properly.

There are few things more frustrating to a promising young designer than putting together the perfect outfit and then struggling to find a matching hairstyle. Unfortunately, this was exactly the predicament Marinette found herself in, all dolled up in a summery red dress, yet failing to come up with any deviation from her signature pigtails. Pacing across her room, the designer sighed in defeat.
It wasn’t her fault that pigtails were the superior hairstyle. After all, they were practical, cute, and fun to move around with. What else could a girl ask for?
Today, however, Marinette had wanted to do something special. Her class was visiting a festival in the park across from her school. There would be carnival games, food trucks, and a dance floor all set up for the public’s enjoyment.
All she wanted was to dress up nice and have a good time with her friends. It wasn’t as if she had spent over two months sewing up a new dress with this festival in mind. And it definitely wasn’t as if she had made that dress while thinking about a certain Adrien Agreste who would also be attending the festival.
“Marinette! If you don’t stop pacing, you’re going to wear a hole right through the carpet!” Tikki chimed in.
“I know, I know,” Marinette responded, “it’s just that I don’t know what to do with my hair. On one hand, I want to do something new for the festival, but on the other hand, you know how fond I am of pigtails.”
“What if you did both? You’ve always looked great in your Ladybug hairstyle, and public support of you and Chat Noir has made that look pretty popular. You could still wear it without risking your identity!” Tikki offered with a smile.
Marinette considered her options. She was running out of time to get ready, and tying red ribbons around two low ponytails would be quick and easy. It was also sure to match her outfit and flatter her style.
“Tikki, you’re a genius!” She decided, and tied up her hair with some leftover red fabric as she headed out the door.

To say Adrien was looking forward to the festival would be a gross understatement. He was absolutely thrilled. It wasn’t very often that he got to leave the house and go to fun events such as festivals, but the fact that this was technically a school trip had provided the perfect opportunity for him to let loose while staying within the bounds of parental permission.
He showed up a little later than the rest of his class, a situation highlighted by the Gorilla’s silent moping about Parisian traffic. Adrien left the car bustling with energy and excited to meet up with Nino, Alya, and Marinette, who were already there.
As he approached the booth they had agreed to meet up at, however, he was greeted by a sight that forced him to do a double take to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.
About five feet away from him was the distinct outline of Ladybug.
Her dark hair was still tied up in its signature red ribbons, but her suit had been replaced by a stunning red dress that seemed to move with the rays of the sun.
What was Ladybug doing at the festival?? And why wasn’t she in her suit?
As Adrien pondered that second question, he came to the startling realization that Ladybug was in fact detransformed and close enough that he could walk forward and touch her. This was exactly what he started to do. Almost out of their own volition, Adrien’s legs started moving the rest of his body closer and closer to his Lady in red. In a trance, he found himself drawn to her, despite the fact that he had no idea what he would say or do once he approached her.
“Dude! There you are! We were starting to worry about whether you’d be able to make it.” The voice of Nino rang out, interrupting Adrien’s thought spiral. As he took stock of his surroundings, he noticed that Alya and Nino were both right next to Ladybug, who was turning around . . .
“Marinette?!” Adrien exclaimed, breathless and confused.
Where Ladybug had stood less than two seconds ago, Marinette now stood, blushing and looking right at him.
“No! . . . I mean, yes! That I am-who am-I am her! Marinette Agr- I mean, Marinette Dupain-Bang! Wait, no, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She is me. I am her!” The girl stammered as the red on her cheeks grew to match her outfit.
A gust of wind blew through the park, and Marinette’s dress flowed around her knees. Adrien couldn’t help but notice how well the soft red color complemented his friend. But then his eyes moved from her clothing up to her eyes, and he forgot all previous train of thought.
Her eyes were a startling blue, the type of blue Adrien often found himself lost in when casting longing looks at Ladybug.
Wait, Ladybug! There was something about Ladybug. Something important Adrien had just been thinking about. Something about her, and the festival, and Marinette, and . . .
“Woah there Agreste, are you good? Normally I’d be all for you checking out my girl here,” Alya teased with a wink, “but you’re looking pretty pale.”
Slowly blinking, Adrien took that moment to snap back into reality. Throwing on his best smile and putting his though spiral on hold, he responded, “I’m fine, Alya, really, don’t worry about it.”
Marinette, agreeing with Alya, asked him again, “I agree, you are very pretty-er, pretty pale that is! Are you sure you’re o-bae? I mean, okay?”
He tried to answer her, he really did, but the nagging feeling returned, and Adrien again found himself surrounded by fuzzy thoughts of Ladybug, and Ladybug’s eyes, and Marinette’s eyes, and the soft shade of red tinting Marinette’s flustered face, and the matching red ribbons that were tickling the back of Marinette’s neck.
Those ribbons! They were the same ones that Ladybug was wearing a few moments ago before she has disappeared and left Marinette in her place.
Adrien found himself remembering a similar instance where Ladybug had leapt onto a balcony, but when Chat went to talk to her, he found Marinette instead.
His thought process at the time of the incident started to intermingle with the blur his mind was currently going through.
Ladybug? Marinette? Ladybug and Marinette? Was Marinette a really good fan of Ladybug?
No, that wasn’t it, his mind persisted, although he was certain there wasn’t another explanation. What he was certain of, however, was that somehow his legs had again started to move until he was only a breath away from Marinette.
Their eyes locked, green on blue, and Adrien was struck with a new feeling, a premonition of danger. As he looked into Marinette’s eyes, he found himself hypnotized in their sky blue tones, desperately trying to remember the last part of their conversation before he did something stupid, before he did something weird, something like . . .
”Are you a cat? Because I want to cradle you.”

Marinette blinked, then paused, then blinked again. Wait, what? Are you a cat . . . Why did that sound so familiar?
Are you a cat? Because M’Lady, I sure do want to cradle you!
The memory bombarded Marinette before she was fully aware of what was going on. Chat Noir had used the exact same pick up line on her just two nights ago after defeating the day’s akuma.
The fact that Adrien was now using the same line could only lead to one conclusion.
Chat Noir . . . and Adrien . . . the two of them . . . both had to be using the same pick up line book!
And not only that, but Chat had lied about where he got all his lines from, saying something about how his puns are 100% original, just like my love for you, Buggaboo.
And yet here was Adrien, reciting the same over the top theatrics that Chat Noir was so proud to tout as his own creations.
A giggle escaped Marinette’s lips, and she dissolved into a fit of laughter so quickly that she didn’t notice the way Adrien’s shoulders relaxed as his eyes continued to watch her.
The entire situation was too much for Marinette to bear. For the briefest of moments, the boy standing in front of her had switched from an untouchable image of perfection to a dorky kid with the same awful sense of humor as her partner.
Maybe that was why Marinette, emboldened by a new wave of confidence she was sure would wear off soon, leaned in to whisper in Adrien’s ear,
“I may not be a cat, but don’t worry, I can still take kitty on a stray from time to time.”
Adrien’s entire face turned as red as the ribbons in her hair, and he stood there sputtering to come up with a response.
Marinette turned on her heel and booked it away from him to another section of the festival, partly because she wanted to have an exit and partly because she was worried what her brain would do once it caught up with her mouth and realized that she really did just say that to Adrien Agreste.
Sparing one glance over her shoulder, however, the stunned look on the boy’s face was enough to convince Marinette that overall this had been a win.
She later decided that she should try wearing red ribbons in her hair more often.

So instead of writing my lesson plan that’s due tomorrow, I decided to write Miraculous fan fiction that happens right after Miracle Queen. It’s Marichat and a bit angsty. Warnings for spoilers for the finale. Also I didn’t edit at all so apologies for any mistakes. It’s my first finished story so fingers crossed that it’s at least kind of good.

Marinette learned on the railing of her balcony. A lot had happened in the last week, and now it was all catching up to her. Master Fu, Hawkmoth, everything felt like it was happening all at once and in slow motion all at once. Tikki and Wayzz flitted around the balcony, probably catching up from years apart. Marinette sighed and fiddled with the bracelet she now had. For her, the turtle miraculous became a turtle shell with a pink flower pattern on its back. It was different enough that she didn’t have to take it off to avoid suspicion. And Wayzz was helpful with giving her guardian tips. The Miracle Box was still sealed, and Marinette was just waiting for the day she could figure out how to get it back open.
Hawkmoth had been suspiciously quite recently, probably upset he had to start back at square one for figuring out the Guardian’s (and Ladybug’s) new identity. It had given her time to think about all of the responsibilities on her shoulders. School, being the savior of Paris, finding Hawkmoth. It was, to say the least, a lot.
She hadn’t told Tikki yet, but the thought of letting someone else be Ladybug had crossed her mind a couple of times. She had made a mistake and it cost her Master Fu and the identities of the other Miraculous users. She knew Tikki would hate the idea, and refute everything she said. So she was going to talk to Wayzz about it first... if she could find the time to do so.
Marinette heard a familiar sound of a cat landing behind her. A wave of relief washed over her when she turned around and saw the Tikki and Wayzz had flitted out of sight of Chat Noir.
“Didn’t mean to startle you,” he started. “I just saw you out here and figured you could use some company.”
“Oh, um, yeah sure.” She gestured for him to come stand by her on the balcony. “Why are you out so late?”
“Oh you know, just prowling around Paris. Getting some fresh air.”
“I see.” She turned back to look out over the Paris night sky. The air was warm, and there was a faint breeze blowing against her face. The lights of the city twinkled, and there were sounds of cars honking and driving quickly by. Having such a crowded city to take responsibility for was such a crushing weight. All of Paris. It’s residents, it’s tourists, everyone. How was she going to be the Guardian and Ladybug and a student?
“You OK, Marinette?” Chat’s voice startled her out of her thoughts. Just a couple weeks ago, she was confiding to him about her feelings about being Ladybug. Maybe, he could help her with her problem.
She sighed. “You ever feel like you’re trying too hard to do everything everyone expects of you, and you feel like you can never do it right?”
Chat Noir chuckled in agreement. “All the time.”
“I know you’re a superhero and you have a civilian life, how do you do it?”
“Ah well that’s a purrrfect question m’lady.”
She laughed at his silly pun. How could he do that? Make her feel like there really wasn’t anything to worry about?
“But a little nosey don’t you think?” He bopped her lightly on the nose with a finger. “Wouldn’t want you figuring out who the claw-some person behind this mask is.”
She felt her face get red a little. Why was she feeling like this?
“R-right, yeah, sorry. I didn’t mean to be intruding.” She sighed. “I’m sorry, it’s just, recently I feel like everybody wants me to figure everything out. I have school and the bakery, and extra curriculars I’m trying to keep up with. Things that take up all of my time and I have to constantly be somewhere. I don’t have time to be myself or do things I enjoy anymore.”
“Well, if anyone can do it, it’s you.” She felt Chat touch her shoulder, and she turned to face him. The smile he gave her was soft a reassuring. “I saw how you helped Ladybug and I when our backs were against the wall as Multimouse. If there is anyone who can handle anything thrown her way, it’s you Marinette.”
Marinette smiled, but she could still feel the tears about to break. “What if it’s too much? What if the girl you saw as Multimouse made clumsy and awkward and has made mistakes that get people hurt?” There was no stopping the tears. “And I’ve just had to endure it and feel guilty about it every time.”
Chat hugged her. The embrace was similar to when they were hugging in the Seine, when she had confided in him then. Except now it was Marinette and Chat Noir. It felt different. It felt like it was a long overdue hug. A type of hug that was reassuring and felt like nothing else mattered in the world as long as you were with that person.
“Mari, I don’t know what you are going through, but I know that you are strong and you will get through it. Whatever mistakes you made, they were only that. Mistakes. We can’t feel guilty about it, we just have to accept that they happened and learn from them.”
She sunk into his chest, sniffling. She felt his hand on her head, gently smoothing her hair down. “Mari?” He asked gently.
“I’m OK,” she responded softly. She pushed herself back to look at him, and started giggling. “I’m tired, I guess.” She wiped away tears. Chat didn’t look convinced. He put both hands on her shoulders.
“Would you like to talk about it more?”
She shook her head. “No, tell me about you. I don’t want to think about me anymore.”
Chat thought for a minute, thinking of things he could tell her without being revealing. “Well, you’re a girl...”
“How observant.” She rolled her eyes. “You need girl advice? Without being too specific perhaps?” Something in her heart twinged when she suggested he needed dating advice.
“Well, not really advice.” He shifted his feet, not knowing what to really say. “Just someone to talk to.” Mari walked over to a chair and sat down. She patted the seat next to her. She could feel her heart pounding, wondering what he was going to say. She had noticed he had stoped calling Ladybug affectionate nicknames. Maybe he did find a girlfriend? But why did that notion seem to hurt so much? Maybe she was just projecting what she had felt about Adrien onto Chat. She made a point of ignoring how her heart was in her throat, or how when he looked at her with his soft green eyes, her face flushed.
“And so she kissed me, and I really like her. But it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be.”
‘Oh shoot, he started talking,’ she thought.
“I wasn’t disappointed with it. It was just...sudden. And romance isn’t what I thought it was going to be. I thought that if Ladybug and I ever became a couple, it would be so fairytale like. And with this other girl, I don’t have the same love at first sight feeling. It’s nice, but there is also another girl I like who I thought was just a friend, but she’s really special to me. And I’m not sure how to tell the girl I kissed how conflicted I’m feeling. I don’t want to hurt her.”
“Maybe love at first sight isn’t real,” Marinette chimed in, not having listened to anything after “love at first sight” and not really thinking about what she was saying. “Maybe love is friendships growing into something more.” She looked over at Chat, noticing he was staring at her as if she had just said something profound. She reflected on her relationship with Adrien, and how she thought about that day he gave her the umbrella. How she saw him and in that moment she “fell in love”. Was it real? It had certainly felt real. But, how can you love someone if you don’t know them. “I used to like this boy, and I thought that I loved him. I took one look and I was head over heels, obsessed. Almost to a comical point.” She laughed at herself and her crazy schedules, following Adrien around, trying to have a conversation with him. “And there is something about friendships that can grow into something more. For example our friendship-“ she realized what she said and the context of it. It wasn’t what she was going for but now she had said it and Chat Noir was looking at her with wide eyes. “I-I mean....uhhhh I didn’t mean we’d be something more. I just meant that we’ve grown as lovers. I mean friends! Like I like how I’ve gotten to know you. I mean we are getting to know each other....”
She put her head in her hands. “Sorry...” she muttered. She heard a Chat Noir laugh a bit.
“It’s ok Mari, I know what you meant.”
Why was she suddenly stuttering around him? Why was she acting like how she acted around Adrien? Oh god... did she? No, she was just talking about how love at first sight wasn’t real. But that was the problem, it wasn’t. They had grown as friends, and the more she got to know him, the more she felt comfortable around him. And definitely a little tongue tied. Her mind went back to that hug in the Seine. How comforting her partners embrace felt. It was him and her against the world. That’s what he had said. They were partners that trusted each other no matter what.
“Marinette? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you. We don’t have to talk about my girl problems.”
“It’s ok, sometimes I trip over my words and say the wrong thing.”
“I know,” he laughed. “It’s fine, I’m overly flirtatious. And obtuse,” he added. Marinette smiled at her partner. It was nice to have someone with her who poked fun at them self and eased the tension. “I mean, Ladybug told me so many times that she wasn’t interested. And I never took the hint.”
“I tried to tell the guy I liked that I liked him multiple times and he never took the hint either.”
“Well, he was missing out then,” Chat commented. Marinette’s face flushed bright red. Oh why would he say something like that. And why did he have to flash that dopey smile.
She shrugged. “Not really. Adrien is a model and great at everything. Besides, I’m clumsy and awkward and well, it wouldn’t have worked out anyways.” Did she have to tell him all of this? It hurt, but it was a faded hurt. Like after an injury has healed, but then the weather changes and you can feel it again. She glanced at her kitty, who was a bright red color and wide eyed.
“Adrien...Agrest?”
“Yeah. Silly right? Just another fanatic with a supermodel crush.” She made a wide armed gesture around her head. “He goes to school with me, and...” she thought a bit. Should she tell him this? Well, she was already venting so might as well. “He, gave me an umbrella the first day back at school. And the whole time after that, I thought I loved him. But I barely knew him! I stuttered my words and acted foolish.” She sighed. “Wow, that feels good to talk about with someone else. Obviously my best friend Alya knows... but she’s heard the story multiple times. And telling it to new people, especially now that I know how silly it sounds...thank you.”
Chat Noir looked like he had seen a ghost.
“Are you OK?” He nodded.
“Mari, what if told you, that that guy is stupid.”
“What?!” Now She was feeling anger. That was her friend. And it wasn’t his fault he didn’t like her back. Besides, now that she definitely, totally, and completely didn’t have feelings for him, she liked their friendship a lot more. “Take that back right now. I was talking about my own feelings. Adrien Agrest is one of the nicest people I know. He’s genuine and caring and smart. He’s the greatest model in Paris, and he’s stood up for me multiple times.” She stood up as she said this, letting fury get the best of her. “And now that we are friends I know him better. And I know that he would never hurt me and that it was my own feelings that got in the way of being friends with him.” She was pacing now. “Of course I would’ve liked to date him. Who wouldn’t? But he’s in love with someone else and it hurt a lot but he’s happy and I’m happy and everyone’s happy!”
She turned to face her partner, about to yell at him some more, but realized how his ears had turned back. He sitting straight up, and staring straight ahead.
“I’m so sorry,” he whispered.
She felt guilt wash over her. She had yelled at him when he was just trying to make her happy. “Please don’t be. You were just trying to cheer me up...I...I didn’t mean to explode at you...”
“Mari, you don’t get it. I’m sorry. For all of that pain I caused you. For everything. I should have known.”
What was he even talking about. He had only said something that struck a nerve accidentally. He didn’t mean to? Why did he look so sad?
“If I had known...If I hadn’t been so dense...” He walked over to her and put a hand on her cheek. Such a small gesture, but one that made Marinette’s heart flutter again. “Things would’ve been different. And maybe, they eventually will be. My everyday Ladybug.” He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek.
And then he was gone. She saw his silhouette against the Parisian lights until he was a dot in the distance.

Flower Crown- MariCat May Day 13
So this is connected to day 7, mostly because I couldn’t really think of a way of making this stand on it’s own. Yeah, I don’t really have much else to say. Enjoy @marichatmay Flower Crown
Marinette breathed in the scent of flowers she held. She just got back from her first date with Chat Noir and she enjoyed it immensely. Why was it that suddenly Chat’s flirting started to make her go red? She knew the silly kitty, he was a total nerd who spoke in flirtatious comments and puns usually, but all of a sudden it could make her go red.
When she got home, she found a large delivery that didn’t have a name, just a paw print on the card. She had no clue when Chat even ordered them, but she couldn’t find it in her to complain. Pinks, blues, yellows, greens and white flowers were in the large bouquet.
“Is there anyone we should be looking out for?” her mother teased, watching her sniff the flowers.
She peaked around to the kitchen, where she heard her dad humming. She was sure he was listening, so she whispered over to her mother, “It was Chat.”
her mother looked over to the kitchen. “Maybe you should get those upstairs before he starts asking questions. Wouldn’t want to give your father an excuse to get over excited. But Marinette, last I remember, he rejected you didn’t he?”
“Yeah, but things changed I guess. We decided to try going on a date and we had a lot of fun. Nothing is official, but...I think I’d be ok with it becoming official.”
Her mother gave her a smile, patting her cheek. “Well, as long as your happy. At least let him say hi if your father is busy. Let’s wait a while before we tell him, hmm?”
“Tell me what?” her father asked, a sheet of pain au chocolate in hand.
Marinette grabbed the vase and went through the door to get upstairs while her mother distracted her dad. She couldn’t help but smile at the flowers again.
“Someone looks very happy.” Tikki teased. “I told you it would be ok.”
Marinette put the vase on her desk to look at the slightly smug looking Tikki.
“Ok, fine. You were right, I shouldn’t of been so worried about it. Maybe it’s a good idea if Luka never finds out about you, I have a feeling you’d both be really smug together.” she pointed out, remembering how the blue haired guitarist pointed out that she should take a risk with Chat.
“Don’t worry, Sass is very protective of his hatchlings. But look at all these flowers! You’re gonna have to break these up. I could of course eat some for you.” Marinette gave her a weird look. “I’m a ladybug, we love flowers.”
She knew she’d have to break them up into different vases but the designer in her wanted to try something different. Chat had spent the day spoiling her, always seeming to have his wallet out before she could even reach for it. She wanted to do something for him that wasn’t their usual sweets from the bakery or letting him lay on her lap. She carried her phone with her into the kitchen as she looked for some vases, hoping to find one her grandmother gave to her mom last time she was in town. Her phone buzzed suddenly, causing her to be startled and bang her head on the cabinet she was currently searching through.
“Ow!”
the buzzing was a notification from Rose’s Instagram. A rare photo of Juleka – who even after getting her personal photo shoot after the Reflecta incident, was still not the most confident in front of camera by herself – wearing a flower crown made of blush pink flowers. That gave her an idea.

Chat Noir landed on Marinette’s balcony. Yes, he’d been with her almost all day during their date, but once he got home, he couldn’t stop thinking about how much fun he had. Since texting wasn’t a thing they could do unless he told her she was Adrien Agreste, visiting her was the next best thing. He hoped she hadn’t gotten sick of seeing him after spending all day with him. He wanted this to work. During that time where Ladybug never showed up for the date and he got to show the area to Marinette instead, things were starting to change. He enjoyed really getting to know her. They were friends at school but they felt closer this way. He hoped when could eventually tell her, that things would stay the same.
He knocked on her skylight, smiling down at her when he saw her face.
“Hope you don’t mind that I visited.” he said, as she stepped back to let him in. knowing how she wasn’t a huge fan of shoes on her bed, he swung himself onto the floor next to the bed.
“Perfect landing as usual. I’m actually glad you’re here. I have something for you.”
“For moi? Princess, you shouldn’t have.” he said, following Marinette down the the common level.
“Well, I had a surprise waiting for me when I came home. How did you even manage to do that?”
“A cat never reveals his secrets. I hope you like them.” he said.
He was sure he went a bit overboard with how big he asked for the bouquet to be, but the look on her face when he handed her the single flower earlier, he wanted to see it again.
“I did. There were so many though, so I decided to get a little creative. Here.”
in her hands was a flower crown. It was a little wonky, but Marinette made it so it was perfect. He gently took it from her hands, not wanting his claws to cut through the steams and ruin it.
“You made me a flower crown?” Marinette nodded, a bit shy. A huge smile came to his face. “I’m never going to take it off. Put it on me, put it on me.”
he leaned down a little so Marinette could fit it between his ears.
“Am I a pretty flower?” he asked, cupping his hands under his chin.
“Silly kitty. Yes, chaton, you’re the pretties kitty that ever was. And your all mine.”
Marinette’s smirk at his increasingly red face made the embarrassment worth it.

Chapter Nine
An hour after Adrien's slippery ascent to victory, they turned to Ultimate Mecha Strike III for some more hearty butt-whooping.
With one final zap of an energy beam, the words "KAGAMI WINS" flashed across the screen, and her crimson mecha-tank launched a clawed fist in the air.
"Aw maaan!" Nino dumped his controller on the coffee table. "How could I lose to a total noob?" He froze. "Uh – No offence! You did good, dudette – I mean Kagami!"
Alya clutched her stomach, her cheeks red from laughing. "Nice one, Kagami! You – You really got him good with that – ah – that triple kick hyperstorm combo!"
"Yeah, Kagami!" Adrien nudged her shoulder with his own. "Only your third game and already you're winning!"
Marinette gave a thumbs up. "You're a natural."
Kagami threaded a strand of hair behind her ear, the slightest of blushes grazing her cheeks. "Thank you, everyone. I couldn't have won without Marinette's expert teaching." She bowed her head, her mouth curving into a smile that simply looked like it belonged there.
That small fact made Marinette's own smile double in size.
"But, dudes, I'm sick of UMS."
Alya tapped down the brim of Nino's precious cap. "You're just sick of losing, babe."
Pouting, he straightened his hat. "That's not the point, Al." He bounced to his feet, eyes on Adrien. "Why don't we fire up Just Dance instead? Let's show 'em our swagger!"
Adrien's face practically glowed as he leapt from the sofa, Kagami's hands falling from his arm to her lap. "You're on, Nino!"
"Ha!" Nino flashed his signature finger guns. "On like Donkey Kong!"
With an overly dramatic scoff, Adrien placed a hand to his chest in a decidedly Chat Noir fashion. "Excuse me? Only I have the rights to that line… especially after my ape overthrew our princess." He sent Marinette an over the shoulder wink and naturally, a flush flamed across her face.
While Nino set up Just Dance, Adrien shrugged out of his blazer in one fluid movement and flicked it over the sofa with a ridiculous amount of flair. He rolled his neck, laced his fingers and stretched his arms out before him. Pair that with the fact his polished shoes, snug jeans, and long-sleeved dress shirt were all black and wow, he was but a tail away from his alter ego. The only thing missing was a poorly timed pun. The flush across her face deepened.
Adrien strutted up to the TV. Umber drapes framed the wide balcony doors to his left, swaying with the wind that weaved through the living room to fan his golden hair. With his eyes on the screen, he raised a thoughtful hand to his chin. His fingers were soaked in sunlight, its rays catching his ring at just the right angle to inspire a shine of silver. Buzzfeed had once dubbed this particular pose The Pondering Prince. It was easy to see why on a rainy day. And even easier when sunbeams spilled across his hair like a literal crown of sunshine.
Marinette wasn't staring.
Nope, not at all.
The choruses of classic pop songs cut through the air as Nino cycled through choreographies. She knew the moment a song stood out to Adrien, by the way The Pondering Prince transformed into The Keen Cutie.
An annoyingly catchy melody sprung through the speakers:
'Take me by the tongue and I'll know you. Uh! Kiss me 'til you're drunk and I'll show you—'
The boys exchanged an eager high five, while Marinette bit back a snort. Chat Noir choosing Moves Like Jagger?
"Only you would, Adrien. Silly ca—" Her mouth snapped shut, but his merry eyes were already on her. She went ramrod straight in her seat. "Ca – Can't be used to describe you row—I mean now – no, right now." She shook her head madly. "Or – uh – any time, really. Because you're so great. At moving. With your feet!"
Adrien stared at her. She could almost see the cogwheels turning in his eyes. Hopefully those cogwheels had nothing to do with her slip up and everything to do with interpreting her word vomit. Finally, he graced her with one of his classic, heart-warming smiles. "Thank you, Marinette!"
She threw two thumbs up. "Well done! I mean, welcome!"
To her right, she could just feel concerned eyes on her.
And to her left, Alya facepalmed.
Adrien's soft smile lingered on Marinette for a moment longer, before a "Ready, bro?" brought his attention back to the TV. She sucked in a breath.
That smile. That classic Adrien smile. It was a gentle, shy sort of smile. One that made you feel special. Chat Noir's smile, on the other hand, was silly, cheeky, at times flirty—and had prompted her to groan on several occasions. Totally different, right?
But they were the same person! As classmates, she could probably count the amount of coherent conversations she'd had with him on her hands. But as partners, they were closer than ever. She'd thought of him as one of her dearest friends long before learning his civilian identity. Now, an unpleasant question reared its awful head. Were his smiles wildly different? Or just her reactions to them?
Alya's voice pulled her from her thoughts. "Daaang!" she called, flaunting a smirk. "You boys are pulling out all the stops today. Where've you been hiding those dance moves, Adrien?"
Marinette looked up at the boy in question and saw her friend, Adrien, dancing with the unbridled joy of her partner, Chat Noir.
And Alya's words must've emboldened him, for he broke away from the choreography with a suave spin on the spot. "Come on, Al. You don't actually think I spent home-school doing schoolwork, do you?" As Maroon 5 whistled on, he executed each move with a flawless flourish. To think, this was the same guy who high-fived street signs with his face.
Alya snickered. "Not bad, Blondie. Not bad at all!"
With an achingly familiar bow, he enacted the tipping of a fake top hat. A silent thank you. One with the pizzazz befitting of her partner.
His theatrics brought out a giggle. She'd seen her silly kitty cut a rug, as he liked to call it, more times than she cared to count. On quiet patrols. In the heat of battle. A few months ago, an amateur video of his dancing had even trended online (he'd reminded her for over a week). His timing was never impeccable, but as they'd grown closer, stifling a smile at his zest for interpretive movement had become increasingly tricky.
"Yes!" Nino wheezed, flinging his arm in time with the dancing avatar on the screen. "I'm catching up!" He was so out of breath. "Keep distracting him!"
"Oh Adrien," her bestie proclaimed, as he moonwalked like a professional zombie from Thriller. "Our dazzling King of Swag!" He held a hand to his ear, spurring her on. "Your flow knows no bounds. I must bow before such unrivalled finesse." True to her word, she bowed in her seat.
And boy, did he lap up the praise! He performed a ridiculously smooth body roll, and concluded it with a click of his fingers. His smile was nearly blinding.
That was all the motivation Marinette needed to pop in her own compliment. "In the not so distant future, bards shall sing of our swagtabulous leader's epic freestyling, and their song shall aptly be named Moves Like Swagdrien!"
Just when she'd thought he couldn't shine any brighter, a laugh burst from his lips. It was one she seldom heard without his mask and the fact she'd brought it out only swelled her sprinting heartbeat.
His next move involved a little hip swaying and a lot of arm swinging. Marinette had only played Fortnite a handful of times, but she had a sneaking suspicion she'd once witnessed it there.
"Keep going, ladies!" Nino implored. "I'm finally winning!"
"Yaaas!" Alya called. "Swagdrien The Suave!"
"Woo!" Marinette launched her fists in the air. "Swagdrien The Debonair!"
"Adrien," Kagami cut in, her puzzled tone stark against the laughter of her friends. "You aren't following the choreography?"
"Rules," he panted, "are made to be broken." As if to emphasise his point, he pulled a double arm wave.
Her brows scrunched. "But you're losing?"
Adrien, now mid-robot, incorporated a shrug into his dance. "This way's more fun"—he threw her a smile—"don't you think?"
His dancing didn't die down in the slightest, nor did the laughter that ensued in its wake.

Marinette, like most people, enjoyed bobbing along to Despacito at the best of times.
But this wasn't the best of times.
No, it was the worst. The absolute worst.
More good-natured trash-talking had led to Nino challenging Adrien to a dance-off. But not just any dance-off. No, a double couple dance off (read: everyone but her).
Furthermore, the universe was really testing her limits today—because Despacito's choreography was jam-packed with touching between partners. Sure, Kagami was rather stiff. She'd never played Just Dance before, but Adrien's skills more than made up for that. His hands nestled on her hips, their smiles broad and their bodies close as they moved to the beat.
She tried to smile. She tried to be happy for them. This was what they both wanted. Inserting herself between them – like matter between two magnets – would only be selfish. Even so, she couldn't deny the way her gut writhed at the sight of the happy almost-couple. And she couldn't help but notice Kagami's growing blush.
A distraction.
She needed a distraction.
As if some higher being had honed in on her thoughts, three knocks echoed throughout the apartment. Knuckles on wood had never sounded so wonderful!
Marinette jumped from the sofa. "I'll get it!"
Finally, she'd no longer be the fifth wheel to a quad bike. No, with Luka here, she'd instead be a part of some strange, six-wheeled hybrid. Much more appealing. She raced to the front door and swung it open.
Teal eyes smiled down at her, and their owner gave a little wave, black nail polish shining in the light of the stairwell.
"Luka!" She sprung a hug upon him and without hesitation, he returned it. The exchange only lasted two seconds – three tops – but by gosh, the rich scent of sandalwood delighted her senses long after. "So, how was your shift?"
"Oh, it couldn't end fast enough."
Truer words had never been spoken.
Marinette took his free hand in hers and guided him to the living room. The two couples were still dancing up a storm, guitar chords and Spanish lyrics echoing through the room. "Hey, I see you brought your guitar." She beamed up at him. "You'll have to play us something later. I'd really love to hear my song again!"
From the corner of her eye, Adrien stumbled mid-step.
"I saw that, Blondie!" cackled Alya, her hand in Nino's as they grooved from side to side. "You burning out?"
"Never!" He broke away from the choreography and Kagami quirked a brow as he puffed his chest out into a body roll, even more fluid than his first.
Luka slipped a guitar case off of his shoulders and against the sofa. "Hey, everyone!" He was answered by an array of breathless greetings. "Oh, right." He chuckled. "They're just dancing."
Marinetted laughed—
Until she realised the wordplay wasn't intentional.
"Wow!" Luka chimed, settling on the sofa. "Nice moves, Adrien."
Green eyes remained on the screen. "Thanks."
Marinette swiped the pizza box from the table, four pieces saved within it. "As promised, Luka!" Handing over the box, she sat beside him. "If you're not a cold pizza kinda guy, I can always heat it up for you?"
With a slice of pizza in hand, his free arm reached behind her, resting across the back of the sofa. "It's okay, Marinette. I'm perfectly fine with cold pizza." His eyes were as gentle as his smile. "The thought's appreciated though. Thank you."
A flush crept up her face as he looked at her, but she didn't mind. Not at all.

'We are one tonight, and we're breathing in the same air—'
With an easy smile, Marinette tapped her toes in time to the lively tempo of Turn Up The Love. To no one's surprise, Alya and Nino were nailing every move thrown their way—and fast approaching new high scores.
"Wow," Luka spoke up beside her, and her eyes flitted toward him. "They're so in tune, don't you think?"
Marinette gave a merry nod, recalling a time she'd said similar words to a certain blond.
She leant against the coffee table, smiling at the sight of her dancing friends. "They're so in sync with each other."
"You're right," Adrien said, from the other end of a FaceTime call. "Someday I hope I'll find someone I can share everything with… like they do."
In the present, she pursed her lips. Had Adrien been thinking of Ladybug then? Her eyes drifted toward the boy in question, only to catch his eyes zipping away that very second.
"Too right, Luka!" Adrien leaped into their conversation—and winced when his voice shot up an octave. Clearing his throat, he directed a smile at the dancing duo. "When's the wedding, guys?"
Alya skipped around Nino, her arms swinging to the beat. "We don't know the date just yet."
"But don't worry," Nino puffed. "You'll definitely be my best dude!"
"They're only fourteen, Adrien." Kagami tilted her head, her dark hair shifting. "How young do you plan to get married?"
Beside her, Marinette felt him tense. "Oh – I – Ye-ah." His voice cracked. "Fourteen's way too young! The legal age is – uh – eighteen, right?"
"You plan to be married at eighteen?"
"Err – Well, I don't – I don't know?" He squeezed out a laugh. "I mean, maybe. For the right girl?"
"Does that mean you'd marry the wrong girl if you were older?"
"No, I just—"
"Your indecision is troubling, Adrien."
Those words seemed to resonate with him. He shrunk into the sofa like a silent apology.
Marinette's nails dug dents into her palms—but Kagami didn't deserve her ire. She wasn't exactly well-acquainted with social cues. Heck, she probably didn't even realise what she was doing.
Flexing her paling fingers, Marinette turned to Luka, a wordless plea to fix this. She didn't trust herself to.
And he didn't disappoint.
"Hey, Marinette?" Both fencers looked his way. "Has anyone else tried your macarons yet?"
Adrien clung to those words. "I saw the carton on the bench, but I didn't want to be the first one to crack into them!" With a sheepish chuckle, he dipped a hand behind his neck. "I figured we were saving them for later in the day?"
If he didn't get his passionfruit macaron today, Marinette would scream to high heaven. "No no, Adrien!" She waved her hands for emphasis. "Feel free to help yourself. No, actually—"
She launched to her feet.
He did the same.
"—I'll bring them over," they said in unison. Blinking at each other, they laughed at once. "Sorry," they said. "I – Uh. You go first! No, you—"
Marinette held up a hand. "I'll bring the napkins. You bring the macarons. Deal?"
"Deal!"

A minute later, Alya and Nino collapsed onto the sofa, their chests heaving after their dance. To his delight, Nino had come out on top, destroying his former high score along with Alya's. (Not at all suspiciously, Alya had matched him point-for-point until the last thirty seconds, when her dancing had deteriorated just enough to let him win.)
A cardboard carton, with a golden emblem adorning its lid, rattled in Marinette's palms. While Adrien shared napkins around, she plonked down beside Luka. "I hope all this dancing's worked up everyone's appetite!"
Alya accepted a napkin. "By the grin on Adrien's face, I'd say his answer is a resounding yes."
"Can't blame him, babe. Those moves were unreal."
"It must be the fencing."
"From what I saw, he was a one-man sonata."
"Or a unicorn."
"Girl, did you just call Adrien a unicorn?"
Marinette nodded, unabashed. She was trying to get over him, yes. That didn't mean he wasn't still one of a kind.
With all leftover napkins now on the coffee table, Adrien resumed his seat between Marinette and Kagami. "Full disclosure: I'd make a magnificent unicorn."
Laughter erupted.
And only as it died down did Marinette speak again. "In that case, I sure hope unicorns like macarons!" She flipped back the carton in her lap, revealing an assortment of brown and yellow treats. "We've got two flavours: Belgian chocolate and passionfruit. I would've made more, but I was a little short on time."
"I'll believe it," Alya teased.
She stuck out her tongue. "Just a heads up, everyone—"
From the corner of her eye, Kagami reached for Adrien's hand and threaded it with her own. His smile wavered. He went to pull back, but Kagami tightened her grip—without realising? Adrien's struggling stopped.
"Yike—"
Marinette glimpsed a stern look from Alya.
"I mean LIKE! Yeah. I was, like, extra clumsy this morning and – err – dropped the macarons on this side." She jabbed a finger toward the left of the carton. "So – Um. Sorry about that."
Hands reached from all sides, lightening the carton in her hands, and delighted hums soon floated through the living room.
"Girl, you've really outdone yourself this time!"
"Ditto, babe!"
"I agree." Kagami admired the yellow, half-eaten macaron between her fingers. Her other hand still gripped Adrien's. "This is really delicious."
Adrien's face inched near as he marvelled at the macarons. "You made these, Marinette?" She thought she felt herself nod. "They look delicious!" He took one from the tainted side. Passionfruit, of course. His first bite— "Wow." He gazed at the treat like it was the answer to world peace. "Marinette, this macaron. It's… It's perfect!"
She felt herself beam as he savoured a second bite. This beautiful moment was most definitely worth the many Sundays she'd spent baking a single macaron.
In or out of the suit. Chat Noir or Adrien. He was her friend. Maybe she'd never see those three kids or that hamster. Maybe she'd never have that dog or that beautiful house. At least, not with Adrien.
Because they were superheroes.
Because of apocalyptic cataclysms.
Because he said he loved Ladybug, but in the end, he chose Kagami.
But she could still make him happy.
Luka reached for a treat last. His side pressed into hers as he leaned closer and picked a chocolate macaron. Like this morning, he went for the street-sullied side. With his free arm splayed behind her, he settled back into the couch cushions and savoured the snack with his eyes shut. "This flavour's even better! You're so extraordinary, Marinette."
Cheeks aflame, Marinette brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Extraordinary.
Luka said she was extraordinary.
And it wasn't the first time. No, the first time he'd been under Hawk Moth's cruel influence. And she tried not to take a supervillain's words to heart.
But then he'd said it again, his hand warm on her arm and his eyes warmer still.
"You're the most extraordinary girl, Marinette. As clear as a musical note and as sincere as a melody. You're the music that's been playing inside my head since the first day we met."
Was it time to tune along to his song?
Marinette swallowed, searching for a reply to the wonderful words of her friends. Instead, she caught the green gaze of another boy watching her fondly.
A lump lodged in her throat.
From the day she'd met him, her heart had been his.
But he didn't want his classmate.
From the day she'd met Luka, she'd been the song inside his head.
He made sure she knew where they stood.
He supported her every decision.
He made things simple.
The logical choice was clear.
Yet her heart throbbed at the thought.
No matter what, someone was bound to get hurt. Her friend. Her partner. Herself.
For over a year, she'd saved Paris with quick-thinking and convoluted strategies. She was the girl with a plan, the one people came to when times were tough. Yet here she was, unable to think up a single way to save her and her loved ones from heartbreak.
Why was she so useless?
Why couldn't she just keep everyone happy?
How could she possibly choose between them?
"Earth to Marinette?" Alya interrupted her thoughts. "Guys! I think we broke her with compliments!"
"No! Sorry, I just—" Marinette placed a hand to her chest and drew in a breath. "Thank you, everyone." She meant that wholeheartedly, and turned to Alya with a smile. "Wanna get back to dancing?"
"You know it!"

'Starships were meant to fly! Hands up and touch the sky!'
Of course, Alya had picked an old favourite of theirs: Starships by Nicki Minaj. A bop that never failed to bump up her mood. She knew the choreography well, but was still surprised by her soaring score. Her every move displayed a grace she'd never thought possible without a little latex magic, and over and over, the word "PERFECT" flashed gold on the screen. It was like the game was a one-word dictionary, but she sure wasn't complaining.
"Oh my gosh, M!" Alya puffed. "You are killing it!"
"Call me Swagrinette!"
Adrien laughed from his place on the sofa. "I don't think Swagrinette has quite the same ring to it." She threw a smile over her shoulder—just as Kagami eased her head onto his.
Marinette misstepped, but caught herself before the floor could. "Oops!" She wheezed out a laugh. "Spoke too soon, Al." Her arms circled through the air in sync with the dancing avatar.
Alya snorted. "You're still owning it!"
"She's right," Kagami added. "Your dancing's impressive, Marinette."
She glanced back at Kagami, another smile at the ready. It died on her lips at the sight she beheld. Adrien's eyes were on his hand, laced with Kagami's, and the look he wore was a resigned one. Knitted brows. A slight weight to his lips. He was unhappy—
Pain sliced through her ankle.
In a tangle of limbs, she tumbled to the floor.
Voices cried out her name.
Steps pounded.
She didn't know when, but her hand had clung to her ankle, and her face twisted as it throbbed beneath her fingertips.
"Are you okay?!"
Her eyes flew up—and what they beheld was excruciatingly familiar.
Two hands were extended before her: black nail polish painted the one on her right and an unmistakable ring adorned the one on her left. Her right hand remained around her ankle. Her other lifted off the floor. It drifted left, right, then paused dead centre.
With a composing breath, Marinette chose neither. Instead, she reached for a nearby ottoman, small and round and pastel pink, and chose to help herself off the floor. "I'm fine, guys," she said, reaching her feet.
Everyone stared, eyes rife with worry, while Starships thumped on in the background. Such upbeat music now seemed woefully out of place.
Alya propped a hand on her hip. "You sure, Marinette?"
Nino stepped to Adrien's side. "Yeah, that was one heck of a fall."
"I agree." Kagami's eyes were on Marinette's ankle. "It looked pretty serious."
Marinette fixed up a smile. "Really, I'm A-OK. See?" She shifted her weight to her right—
Another zap of pain.
Two sets of hands sprang to her shoulders, steadying her.
Marinette waved both boys away. "No no. I've got this." She hobbled over to the sofa, stifling a wince, while steps tapped behind her. "It's not as bad as it looks"—she wasn't sure if that was a lie—"but just in case, I think I'd better be a spectator for the rest of the day."
Luka seated himself to her immediate right. "First, we should really take care of your ankle." He looked to a concerned Alya, who'd seated herself on the arm of the sofa. "Do you have any ice packs?"
Adrien claimed the free spot to Marinette's left. "Plus something to act as a barrier between the ice pack and her skin." An instruction, not a suggestion. "Painkillers too. And some anti-inflammatory cream."
"On it!" Nino rushed to the freezer.
"We gotcha!" Alya's red hair whipped behind her as she dashed to the bathroom.
Marinette clung to the cushion beneath her. This was a disaster. A complete and utter disaster. But she could at least avoid dragging her friends down with her. "No need to fuss, guys." She kept her tone light. "It's really not that bad. And I don't wanna ruin the afternoon by—"
A comforting weight on her hand gave her pause. "Never." Adrien's eyes creased as he smiled, giving her hand a light squeeze. "We're just looking out for you. You'd do the same for any of us."
Luka's hand found her shoulder. "You can tell us if you're not okay, Marinette."
"Yeah, I can call you a doctor," Adrien chipped in. "Or get my driver to take you. Just say the word, Marinette."
Kagami knelt on the floor ahead of her, a cushion in hand. "I believe elevating the injury above the heart reduces swelling. Here." She placed the cushion on the coffee table and with a substantial amount of care, eased Marinette's foot upon it.
A smile flooded her face. Her friends were truly the best.

With a metallic whir, daylight broke upon the silhouette of a lean man, and flocks of butterflies stirred, their pale wings catching the sun.
"Ahh… An aspiring artist with a penchant for Picasso. One whose dreams have been crushed by a hard-hearted critic." Each word floated from his tongue with a delighted lilt. "What perfect prey for my akuma."
He beckoned a nearby butterfly to his awaiting palm, carefully caging it between two gloved hands. Darkness materialized, clinging to the insect and soiling its snowy wings.
"Fly away, my pretty akuma, and evilize this wounded soul!"

10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
Dialogue! It honestly flows best for me. With descriptions I always struggle with finding the right words and the best way to phrase things. And plot... well, I often struggle with plot. xD
Dialogue flows best for me, especially considering I'm in a language-poor environment so in a way it's easier, since it doesn't require many high-leveled words. (Though I'm not very good with Chat's puns. xD)
17. What fic are you most proud of?
Oooh okay so there are two: one is Ever Since That Day, and the second is The White Cat! With both of them the writing really flowed and I was really proud once I finished them. =)
30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.
I have lots of ideas! I still need to finish His Everyday Ladybug, continue One Sentence and maybe a few other fics!
But that doesn't count, I assume. XD
So... hm. I once tried writing a Harry Potter AU but I know that probably won't work out. I've been thinking for a while of a Renaissance-Masquerade AU and maybe also an AU that takes place in the Cinderella Phenomenon universe. As in for more canon-compliant stuff, that usually comes to me on a whim and/or from other's ideas. =)
18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.
Hmm... my favorite scene I wrote so far is in "Ever Since That Day" part 3, with their reveal. Writing it made me so emotional, I had tears in my eyes as I write it down. Kind of ironic, since I'm not much of a fan of reveal fics. xD

He was surprised when a lone raindrop hit his skin. Chat blinked as he looked up, only to realize that now the sky was full of dark clouds. He frowned, but before he could say a word, Ladybug’s earrings beeped.
“I’m about to transform back. Come on.”
A/N: I wasn’t planning at first to include the rain, but as I wrote it I thought that would be the most perfect way to end the reveal with. Rain symbolizes so much for them. It’s the first moment both of them fell in love, so I knew that it was a perfect addition.
Before he could object, she grabbed his hand and pulled him to a side alley. It was barely detectable, hidden among two very close buildings. Ladybug pulled Chat Noir through the alley, her confident steps the only sound other than the rain.
They paused at the end of the alley. Ladybug looked up, and a gentle smile lit her lips as she looked up to the sky. She tightened her grip on Adrien’s hand, her warmth rushing through him, as she held out her other hand. Her fingers danced as raindrops darkened her suit, a smile of pure happiness lighting her features.
“Perfect,” he heard her whisper.
A/N: Considering Marinette knows Adrien is Chat Noir (in this fic, at least,) I knew she would be touched if it started raining. Marinette believes in fate, so she would see it as the perfect opportunity. I really wanted to write her taking in the moment, before finally doing what she wanted to do for so long.
Adrien still couldn’t comprehend what was going on. This wasn’t like his lady. She was always someone who acted, someone who never stood aside. Seeing her standing like this, just watching the rain fall down, was strange.
But somehow, in this moment she was more beautiful than ever.
At some point, her eyes met his. She tucked a stray hair behind her ear, before a small whisper left her lips.
“Kitty, we’ve known each other for a really long time. We battled akumas together, shared secrets with each other, and supported one another at every turn. Heck, you’ve sacrificed yourself for me more times than I can count.”
She stepped closer. Her empty hand reached for his face, cupping it like one might hold a treasure. Adrien’s heart skipped a beat as he waited for her words, his lips tingling with the saltiness of rain.
“I don’t know how long I’ve felt this way. A lifetime passed, and yet this still feels like it happened only yesterday.” She glanced back at the sky. “Also then it was in the rain.”
Her body shook with a strange anticipation. She closed her eyes, uncertainty clouding her features. “I talked with Tikki today, and she helped me realize something.”
Adrien gasped as she met his eyes once again, a powerful certainty lighting her eyes. It was the same strength he first saw in her, all those months ago. The same strength that clouded his mind, leaving him like nothing more than a thoughtless cat.
It was the same strength that made him fall for her, so long ago.
A/N: I LOVE this moment. It’s the perfect combination of Adrienette and Ladynoir, a meeting of both of the moments they fell for each other. Reading this just makes me so happy, because it strengthens the certainty of them being soulmates.
“I want to show you who I am. I need to let you know who hides behind the mask.”
She smiled at him, taking in every little detail of his mask. Her thumb ran over his cheek, her mouth tilted up, and she released a shaky breath. “I hope you won’t be disappointed, Adrien.”

An Idea on the Kwami Swap

  After watching Reflekdoll, I realized that this episode is why I tend to resent shows that are made so their episodes could be watched in every order. Such a choice implies that plotlines must be extremely simple and easy to follow. By doing this, we lose many possibilities for important character development. And, I think with this episode, we did not lose an important possibility for Cat Noir's character development, but a critical one.
  Reflekdoll was the perfect episode to show us that, yeah, as of how Cat Noir's currently acts in battles, Ladybug doesn't really need him. He's not that huge of a help. She could do without him. She could have saved Paris countless times without his help. I'd even say, if she really needed support, she just could have asked others miraculouses holders like Queen B(ee?) or Rena Rouge/Carapace without ever asking for Chat's help.
   When I look back on Ladynoir's use of the Cat's Miraculous in Reflekdoll, she makes it looks so strong…  Which it is! She uses it so well, that Reflekdoll basically gets pummelled and send in every direction. Compare that to Cat Noir's use of the miraculous’s powers, you would think that his miraculous's powers are on the same level of a support miraculouses (like Rena Rouge's, Carapace's etc). When it isn’t, no, it one of two most powerful miraculouses there is! And Plagg showed that when he destroyed a major part of Paris along with the Eifel Tower in “Style Queen”! Of course, you could say that it’s to not make Adrien OP, but I’d say not OP YET, as he would need training and all to master such a Cataclysm. Then we could have such uses of it. But the point stands, the cat miraculous is far stronger than what Adrien’s use allows.  Marinette even at her kind of “beginner” level Ladybug does a much better use of her miraculous strengths and capacities.
  It has always been obvious that Cat Noir's fighting style is reckless, almost as if he does this to "have fun". And it has been established many times that he acts with a selflessness that I’d qualify virtuous but too dangerous. (for me it’s the bioproduct of a lacking feeling of self-worth but we’re not going there yet!) So, it comes to no one's surprise that Adrien's use of the Cat's Miraculous is lacking in skill. As it doesn’t seem that he cares at being skilful. He sure wants to be helpful, yes, but it does not seem to translate in him making skilful use of his miraculous.
  SO, to get back to Cat Noir's character development, this episode could have been perfect for him to see:
1) The Cat's Miraculous true strength when properly used.
2) Not how useless he is, but how more useful he could be.
  And it would have been great if Adrien reacted to Ladybug doing so well as LadyNoire if not BETTER than him with some shame. You know, this feeling you have when you realize you’re nothing special, although you thought you were? Adrien realizing that, truly most of the time he is useless to Ladybug, as now he is showed by LadyNoire how much more useful he could be?
   It could have been a great way to kick off Cat Noir's character development as he then tries to train himself, to stay more focused in battles, just to change for the better. For his Lady, for Paris.
   And perhaps these changes could have helped Adrien in his daily life! In perhaps feeling less unimportant. (I get the feeling that Cat Noir acts the way he does because he feels as if it's not a big deal if something happens to him. Perhaps I’m wrong (again the idea of selflessness)). Perhaps such changes would help Adrien into realizing that "YES! I do matter.” "YES! People are interested in me!”, and "YES! My friends value me!”. And perhaps he wouldn’t have to be so huh… Lifeless? I also think it would make him less oblivious to how he is seen by others.
  And even if it only helps Adrien as Cat Noir it would be something interesting, to see him try… And struggle! As such changes take time! It takes times changes, and some time you go back to your old ways without wanting to, so you keep fighting to maintain your progress. Of course, it shouldn’t change him too much. Keep him lively yet keep the puns and funny cat things for when the akuma is dealt with. A proof of his evolution, of him trying to mature.

COMPLETLY ANOTHER SUBJECT BUUUUUUT
AM I. THE ONLY ONE. WHO THINKS,
That the show would be all over better if the kwami swap was like, permanent? I mean, obviously the show was never built to unable such an important event. But imagine if it were… I see that swap moment as one that would have defined the show! Like One Piece’s two years’ time skip which served as a big step in the series! I see how us, fans, would call it “the great kwami swap” or some shit like that… I would be a point in the show when everything changes!
  By seeing Marinette with Plagg and Adrien’s with Tikki, I was quite taken aback to see how they look so much more… Compatible?
  To me Plagg and Marinette, Tikki and Adrien, both are better matches. To me, it seems like these matches “push out” something from the characters themselves. They feel more natural. A good step, taken, in the right direction. The next evolution. I personally have never been happier to see Marinette fight as LadyNoire! It looked as if she was born to be Ladynoire and her interactions with Plagg, it looked they'd be a greater harmony between the two! And again, to me she acted freer than ever, and was even more performant.
I think that Plagg would be a better influence for Marinette as he always looks like he's the "cool" dude going with the flow? I'd see him cheering Marinette on, pushing her to be freer minded, less stressed (as he’d teach to care less about trivial things that don’t matter), open her up to new possibilities. His "Everythin's fine, man…" attitude feels like it would be a much better help on the long term for Marinette.
Edit: Plagg’s influence would be even better as he’d teach her to “Go for it” something that is indispensable for a designer/artist, you know? Not being afraid to show your work, not being afraid to be more “aggressive” even more creative perhaps?! Like he would tell her, encourage her to go wild as fuck and even if her art/sketch would not amount to any creations it would be experiences that shape her? He would push her to try everything!
   For Adrien and Tikki, the connection seemed much more subtle yet as good as Marinette’s and Plagg’s connection. Both having soft personalities, both being kind of reserved and quiet/calm. (even tho Tikki is far more optimistic and uplifted than Adrien). Basically, being permanently Mister Bug, we would start to see an Adrien whom starts kind of dumb and useless. Yet he would not give up. (He would be kind of “meh” in the start as there is a lot of work to do but hey! With experience it would come, and he would then one day surpass Marinette’s Ladybug (as Ladynoire would Surpass Adrien’s Cat Noir).
And same for Ladynoire’s better use/compatibility of the cat’s miraculous! It seemed bizarre how it felt more right for me to see Adrien as Mister Bug. (it might all come down to my preferences) The fact that he guessed he’d get a mirror is for me proof he used a kind of logic that we never saw Marinette use. She almost always receives her lucky charms and appears dumbfounded for a second, then looks everywhere on how to use it. But Adrien guessed what he would get. He didn’t know how to use it, and acted dumb because It’s his first time, but also (I think!) because he didn’t want to put in the effort of thinking (again, his recklessness is showing). And AGAIN, throughout the fight against Reflekdoll he was acting recklessly, like he does as Cat Noir. (well yeah, duh.) Swinging his yo-yo like a moron. (Nobody should mock him for that as Marinette’s own beginnings with the yo-yo weren’t glorious either).
  I was talking about how it would have been cool for Adrien to have with this episode the start of an arc where he questions his usefulness in battles and how he wants to get better, how he wants to be of greater importance in fighting Akumas with Ladybug, but hey! Being Mister Bug would solve all these problems! As Cat Noir's problems for me all boil down to a lack of focus, lack of self-worth = "doesn't matter what happens to me she got this" kind of crap.
  So being Mister Bug would make him more patient, focused, on the lookout for details, would make him think more, be more aware of his surroundings and the people around him.  It would fix his self-worth issues! Not like the lack of self-worthiness is Adrien’s defining trait, but it would surely help! Moreover, I feel like Adrien would be better off with Tikki as a kwami as she could provide a sort of replacement for motherly care/attention that Adrien seems to lack and seek, making him feel more balanced, important, secure. And he would feel more useful, he would feel necessary (closing the arc to him feeling useless in battles. AGAIN, I must stress this he could start to feel useless, train as chat noir, yet his training makes him more useful, true but he’d want to be even more useful, he would want to feel necessary, there is nothing wrong about wanting to be necessary.) (I say that, because in Reflekdoll he seemed so happy, no fond to catch & release the akuma. Like “YES, the fight is over thanks to me purifying the little bug) like it was really cute, HE was really cute gimme a break xD)
  There are holes in my ideas of course, but I think these holes could be patched, but looking how the show is made it’s clearly impossible. As of how I see it, it all comes down to how the show was written (duh) and prepared. Now, it’s obvious they don’t want to pull off this “permanent kwami swap” but they simply… Can’t… Such a swap should have been prepared…  Prepared from the start as "THE Great Miraculous Swap". They would have made the swap the result of a long arc for both Ladybug and Cat Noir. And of course, the show should just have been named: "Miraculous', not "Miraculous Ladybug" or "Miraculous tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir" so they would have been no problems with such a swap (with the title I mean) .
   The idea of a swap could have been the result of a long arc. I can see this arc taking place over the three first seasons of the show! Being a long, slow realization that something is off, that “Maybe, things would be better if I… Changed?” as the two realize that the problem lies within them… The third season would have been about the two characters understanding that perhaps, all would be better if they were to just, swap kwamis and miraculouses. But much m, they would understand that the swap IS needed.  More than being needed, the permanent swap could have opened the gates for deep character development. We could have explored their fear regarding things changing so greatly, their apprehension over “What is the public going to think, they’re going to get confused!” (it would be Marinette that would worry over that.), or the “Would I be a better Mister Bug/LadyNoir that I am Cat Noir/Ladybug?” Moreover, they could have used the idea of the miraculous swap to deepens the two heroes relationship with master Fu as they would tell him how they feel, their struggle with their hero purpose/identity. He’d try to help them but to no avail.
   Reflekdoll could have been a first taste of such an idea. I see the episode light the little of spark of “Yep, it feels right, better, can’t go around it now… We need to do it.”. Especially for Marinette as she would have felt freer as Lady noire. Losing her apprehensions “This isn’t so bad…” and Adrien as Mister Bug would have felt kind of dumb and rather weak but being Mister bug would have still felt righter than being Cat Noir. He wouldn’t know why, but he would feel as if things were in a better order (don’t get me started on how we could have seen then resent the idea to give back the other’s miraculous, HMMPF.THE.ANGST.). And the part that “Historically women are better with the Ladybug miraculous and men with the cat miraculous could have been challenged etc! And you know, the fear of the routine, what you’re accustomed to disappearing etc…
  Then, we’d have tearful goodbyes with their first kwamis as it’s a chapter of their lives that ends, just like real life! You make great friends, but even though you are great friends you sometimes need to let go and let the wind of time blow… Which they would have done by saying goodbye to their first kwamis and embracing the next chapter it would have been so deep! (and since Adrienette is probably endgame they would still have endend back together so…) The show could have been themed over growing up, realization, big changes and just the way teen just mature, by making those big changes.  And with that the greater problems would have been fixed already, the three first season Adrien would have spent time with Plagg, Marinette with Tikki and they would both have learned from their first kwamis, then they swap and realize how right it feels to be the other!
  We could have had an even better team! Them understanding each other! Helping each other just after the miraculous swap by giving each other tips in the middle of fights, not sending each other jabs like Ladynoire did to mister bug (although because of how the current show handled its narrative, it is understandable that Marinette jabs a Mister bug being like “ain’t that easy, uh bitch?”) and even think of the possibilities! What about the others  in the team thinking that things were better before? (Like Queen B(ee?), Carapace, Rena Rouge, Viperion thinking that Ladybug was better than Mister bug and the swap was foolish etc it could have created tension, made possible important character interactions, development etc!) And to people who really want a Ladybug and a Cat Noir, the show could have been shaped to Star with Ladynoir and Mister Bug then swap! (although I personally find it better to go from Ladybug/Cat Noir to LadyNoir/Mister Bug (because the connections between the new bearers and their new kwamis feels more right to me). But again, the show was never built so it could plan, even handle such an event. To me it’s a shame…
Finally, I must stress that they would still both learn from their time as Cat Noir/Ladybug! They would have developed and grown but not as much with their second miraculous. I certainly wouldn’t want the show to play the first assignment as a plain mistake/waste of time, make it feel needed, and make sure the two characters remember this time of their life as them learning, figuring stuff out as best as they can, don’t make them bitter over “lost time”!
I only wish it was this way, just because to me, the character and their struggle would have felt more real… But the show was made this way, who cares? Not me, I’m sure I can find many swap AU on the internet! (And I’m Looking for it now :} )

Lady Wifi (1x03) 
Overall Thoughts:
-I like the fakeout of Chloe being Ladybug, and it’s a nice continuation of her being a huge fan of Ladybug. Maybe foreshadowing to Queen Bee? To be fair, being the class bully is a great cover story for your superheroism  
-We as a fandom really don’t appreciate the action shots enough. Like Ladybug running across the rooftops? BEAUTIFUL. Like the way they do a lot of live-action stuff now is to keep the camera steady while the CGI does the work; here the camera moves with her while she runs and swings and it’s so much more personal and dynamic and memorable
-Marinette’s yelling in class, haha
- “Copycat.” And ya’ll think Ladybug doesn’t like puns XD
-”Aw, tomcat’s come to save his lovebug.” “I am not his lovebug!” “We’ll come back to that later *wink*”
-I love Chat Noir’s mischevious grin to the camera
-You know Lady Wifi would be foolproof if she had data
-Damn, Alya, only three episodes in and you already have Adrien as Chat Noir pegged. You go, girl (and you are not subtle, Adrien.) 
Villain (Reason, design, power, difficulty, etc):
-Reasons for akumatization: Chloe being a bully + a super unfair suspension. Poor girl :( 6.5/10
-Lady Wifi’s design is just gorgeous don’t @me 8/10
-I actually feel like there’s not a lot she can do with her powers, but the ability to pause people alone is very powerful. I think most of her difficulty comes from the fact that she plans ahead and is faster than them. I mean, sh manages to capture them both, so 8/10
Powers/Miraculous (skill/usage, plan, design, etc):
-Honestly, this category is kinda useless until we get to new superheroes and new powers but whatever
-Her lucky charm is a just box, but the plan to save Chat Noir is something I definitely would never think of 
-Their plan to defeat Lady Wifi is actually super straightforward, but Chat Noir definitely saves the day with sneaking up and destroying the signal 10/10
Character Moments:
-Ah, the beginning of Marinette always disappearing haha
-Nino and Alya working together!!! They’re so precious. She grabs the first person she sees and he just rolls with. She’s got the brains and he does the acts. And, ah, the irony of them talking about how Marinette and Adrien are always disappearing and cut to Ladynoir saving the day
-Kim being on Chloe’s squad, smh
-According to Marinette, Alya’s in the habit of jumping to conclusions. And according to Alya, Marinette’s clumsy. 
Lovesquare Moments (who and how much I fangirled):
-Missed half a day of seeing Adrien? Girl, I feel that 
-This is the first episode to dive into Chat Noir’s crush on Ladybug (and that she doesn’t return it). We’ve seen him flirting before, but it gets further explored here with him trying to find out her identity and trying to get closer to her. Ultimately, the fact that he respects her wishes shows that this isn’t just a crush but deeper, genuine feelings 12/10
-Ladybug cradling a frozen Chat Noir 12/10
-I like that according to Marinette, Chat Noir is not as legit as Adrien. Definitely speaks a lot to how much she adores Adrien and how much she’s not taking Chat Noir seriously. 
- Okay, hold up, we gotta talk about Tikki’s ”Is that true? You’re gonna tell him? Is that what your heart says?”. Like what what was the beginning of the conversation?? Cause it sounds like they’re saying, in her heart, Marinette wants to tell Chat Noir her identity. But then of course she replies “Your heart tells you one thing, but a superhero listens to her head.” Ladybug is all about using her head, and this head vs heart theme is DEFINITELY gonna come back
Developments in Overarching Story:
-Tikki says “Whoever is behind this (akuma attacks) is keeping  us on our toes!” (and adorably pouts). At this point, they know it’s Hawkmoth but I guess they don’t know who he is 
-We learn that the costumes/masks are magic!
-We also learn that if they lose their Miraculous, they instantly detransform and the kwami comes out
-Also, if they use their lucky charm/cataclysm, they’ll have detransform soon after 
-Alya doesn’t get her Ladybug story this time around :(
-We learn that they don’t know each other’s identities, and that nobody can know (and the way Ladybug says it is so sad, like you just know it weighs on her)
Lesson for Kids:
-I feel like there is a lesson here , but I’m too lazy to figure it out 
Endcard:
-Man, these endcards are so simple compared to the intricate symbolic endcards in season 3
-Just Alyanette with Ladybug (and the million dollar question everyone’s asking of who Ladybug is) behind them

Red: ch 7 Spot-light

A week or so has passed and we check up on the class.

    One week. That’s how long it had been since Chloé had visited Pollen, maybe a bit more. In that time Chloé and Marinette had become better friends and the two of them tended to hang out together with Sabrina. Marinette was helped Chloé become a better person and helping Sabrina stand up for herself more. Chloé no longer treated Sabrina like a servant, so that helped matters. What didn’t help matters is how the rest of the class had been acting towards their new friendship. The only ones who seemed to approve were their teacher, Adrien, and oddly enough Rose.
    No one was aware that Chloé ran Spot-light, which had quickly gained popularity. The first post was a video of Ladybug addressing whoever was watching and explaining Spot-light. She explained that being Ladybug was becoming more of a burden, especially since she was essentially put on an untouchable pedestal. Spot-light was there to let everyone know more about Ladybug and those she works with and hopefully pull together a community that together could stop Hawkmoth as large numbers can be better than small. Alya had found the blog quickly and shared the link to the blog on the Ladyblog. Chloé was glad of that because now Césaire had some actual and truthful news.
    Right before the blog had officially gone live, Marinette had told Chloé about her talk with Chat the day after their visit with Fu.
    “Hello Chat.”
    “Hello M’Lady. I hope there are no hard feelings about our patrol the other day.”
    “I don’t have any Chat, which is why I asked to meet up.”
    “What do you mean Ladybug?”
    “Chat, we were chosen because there was an emergency. And the one who gave us the miraculouses thinks he made a mistake in choosing you.”
    “What? But we’re purr-fect together!”
    “No Chat Noir. I talked about this with you beforehand you haven’t been taking being a hero serious enough. I’m hoping you can improve, but until then, the guardian of the miraculous has said he may look for a replacement.”
    “What? No! I’m basically trapped at home! This is my one escape!”
    “Then take more responsibility Chat Noir. And tell your kwami about this conversation. Mine said that yours tends not to take initiative unless certain people tell him, and one of those people is my kwami Tikki.”
    “I guess I can try Bugaboo. I just don’t want to lose this. It’s all I really have left.”
    “You don’t have to prove to me you’re fit to be the cat, you need to prove it to Paris. Bug out.”
    Chloé thought Marinette went too easy on Chat, but he had improved somewhat. There no longer seemed to be constant flirting and they were working together again rather than it being obviously one sided. Still, it wasn’t perfect, and Chloé was hoping for a new cat hero.
    Speaking of new heroes, Chloe pulled up Spot-light and once again played the video of the new hero Abelle. They were the new bee hero. No longer was Chloé Queen Bee, but she didn’t mind Abelle. Which was good since today everyone was talking of the new bee. Especially Lila.
    “Well it’s obvious Chloé wasn’t a good fit for a hero. But I helped Ladybug find a new bee hero! Right now we’re trying to figure out her hero name.”
    “Uh, yeah right. That sounds about as true as you being the person Ladybug said was helping with Spot-light.” Chloé confronted Lila, crossing her arms.
    “Well that’s because I am helping with Spot-light.”
    Chloé raised an eyebrow. “Is that so, then why did you accept my video to the blog?”
    “Video?” Lila asked, clueless.
    “Yeah, Abelle met up with me and we made a video together. I submitted it to the blog and the owner accepted it. They said it’s posting at the top of the hour which is… right now.”
    A number of people’s phones went off as the blog updated. She had sent up a timed post so it would seem like she wasn’t in control of the blog. Alya was the first to pull her phone out and turned on the video causing everyone to crowd around her. The video showed Chloé standing right next to Abelle.
    “Hello Spot-light. I’m the new bee hero. I know you all must have seen the picture going around of me and I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Abelle. Sort of French for bee because I’m not that creative, but missing the i for ‘belle’. You may ask why the previous bee is here, and that’s because she’s helping me.”
    “Yes, hello Paris. It is me, Chloé Bourgeois. before anyone asks, though I would like it, we are strictly professional and I haven’t seen Abelle out of costume.”
    “I’m hoping I can bee a great help.”
    “Never pun again.”
    “Alright. I’m not that good at it anyway.”
    “Well, there. Paris has met you. Hope everyone enjoys, especially since you’re permanent too. I can’t wait to see the other two ne-”
    The video was cut off there. Chloé’s phone had died. She was kind of glad it did since she had started to make mention there would be new fox and turtle holders. But, it seemed Alya noticed anyway. “What the hell was that at the end Chloé?”
    “Look Césaire, class is about to start. And I’m sure Lila knows exactly what I was saying since she’s friends with Ladybug. Isn’t that right Lila?”
    “Oh yeah, sure. She told me everything. I just didn’t realize when Abelle said help that she was going to you.”
    “Sure you didn’t Lila. Just know everything is going to catch up with you soon.” Chloé smirked at Lila and walked into the classroom. Marinette gave a wave as the blonde sat down. Unlike most times, Chloé actually paid attention to class, though she did sneak a few jellybeans out from her new purse. Why did she have both of those? Well when she was told she would have to visit Pollen, Chloé had Marinette make her a small purse for if she wanted to show Pollen around. She wasn’t really allowed, but the blonde liked the idea at the time. The purse was also stuffed with jelly beans because Pollen loved the taste and ones with fruit were her favorites. Chloé was confused at first at why not honey, but it was quickly explained that the kwamis did not align their food tastes to their associated animal. Learning that Plagg the cat liked cheese was not something she had been expecting.
    Class was nearly over when phones went off. Bustier was going to reprimand them when hers went off as well. Looking at the screen, she nodded. “An akuma villain has been spotted nearby, please evacuate the room.”
    Chloé followed Marinette out and got her to a secluded area. Marinette transformed into Ladybug and Chloé got her phone ready for a video. She had gotten a special tripod that would help track the attack while she got to safety. Césaire may like taking risks like that, but Chloé refuses to do the same.
    By the time the villain reached the school, Chloé had already set up the camera and hid. She had gone back to where she and Marinette had been as their main plan for situations like this is that they would cover each other’s backs. The two would say they were with each other the whole time so neither of them were caught with their secrets.
    Shortly after the battle ended, Chloé retrieved her phone. Before she left for home the blonde hid once again and gave the video a once over on her computer. She was pretty sure no editing would be needed, but it was better to take precautions rather identities being revealed. Fortunately today the video was fine, so Chloé uploaded it to Spot-light and went home to rest.
    The rest was unfortunately short lived and the comment section was blowing up. This was the first battle video and Rossi was taking the credit. It upset Chloé greatly and in a moment of impulse, she made an account called SpotLightedOFF and commented.
SpotLightedOFF: Please don’t take credit for something that isn’t your sweetie.
VulpesGirl : of course it is. I run the blog.
SpotLightedOFF : I know it isn’t. I am the one who runs it.
Byanyothername : really?
LBlogger : do you have proof?
SpotLightedOFF : first, my account has OFF for official.
VulpesGirl : you really shouldn’t do that.
SpotLightedOFF : second of all, I haven’t shown my face because I want to remain anonymous.
LBlogger : that’s not proof.
SpotLightedOFF : fine. Message me and VulpesGirl each a different message. Whichever is posted is who runs the blog.
PictureGothGirl : that seems like a good idea
Gamingwhiz : it seems like an adequate test.
LBlogger : alright, sent them.
LBlogger : the new post is what I sent to SpotLightedOFF. they’re the real deal.
    Chloé smiled when the post went live. That would show Rossi a thing or two. She added a screenshot of the comments to the post saying ‘Ladybug is one million ladybugs in a human suit.’ So people would have context and hopefully never question her again. She sat back and admired her work before deciding to cover her tracks.
    Chloé had more than one email. She had made a special one for Queen Bee for fan mail, and though she never got any, it would be perfect to create a second account that was actually herself.
HoneybeeQueen : wow, nice to see that someone is around disproving this b’s lies.
SpotLightedOFF : please don’t use language like that thank you.
    Chloé laughed and her own messages. Honestly she was making SpotLightedOFF act like Abelle. She wouldn’t be surprised if anyone ended up suspecting the hero. But until then, it was her little secret.

Chapter 26 – Snowball Fight
Adrien excused himself to the bathroom to catch his breath. He leaned over the sink and turned on the faucet to drown out his haggard breathing. Plagg zipped out of his overshirt and stared at his chosen as he hovered to the side. After a few moments, Adrien looked up to the mirror to view his face. “My father apologizing wasn’t a dream, right Plagg?”
The kwami looked over to Adrien and nodded. “Trust me kid, I’m just as shocked as you are. But I would stay weary. Who knows why he’s acting like this.”
Adrien stared at himself. “I know. I’m just waiting for him to say something that would make this all seem real. I just hoped for so long that now I wasn’t expecting it to really happen.”
“If you ask me, he talked fondly about pigtails. You should really thank her for his behavior change.”
The little god was right. His father spoke highly of Marinette. He admitted that her presence brought so much good in this house – a light, in his words. Marinette’s actions that day sparked his grinch-like heart to grow three sizes this year. He was moved by her fondness that he went as far as apologizing to Adrien for his inexcusable nonsense of their deteriorating relationship.
She did that, and in her own miraculous way, she brought them together.
Marinette, in and out of the suit, was a treasure. Everywhere she went she brought the light. She cared for everyone, even for Lila and Chloe (sparsely, of course), but she deserved so much for everything she has done.
“Meeting Marinette was the best day of my life. I’ve known that since the moment I fell in love with her. Twice, even!” He turned to Plagg. “She even made the most impossible thing possible. Even though it’s still early to consider it possible, but the fact that he is out there speaking to both of us, laughing, and smiling? I don’t know how I could ever repay her.”
“You love her, right?” Adrien nodded at Plagg’s question. He barrel-rolled in the air as he placed his paws behind his head. “Prove it to her.”
A puzzling look overtook Adrien’s face as he pondered over the statement. Marinette deserved the world. Being with her made everything in his life so much better. The last time he remembered being this happy was when his mom was around. Becoming Chat Noir made his life amazing, but he still had many moments of sadness and disappointment, especially when it came to missed opportunities with his friends. His friends made him happy, but Marinette... Marinette. She magnified those happy moments every single time. Whether it was when she was Ladybug or herself, those moments with her always made him the happiest.
A smile pressed his lips. “Plagg. I never want to let her go. Like ever. She is the best thing to come into my life. I’ve already told her that I don’t want to have a future if it isn’t with her. I can’t imagine my life without her. She makes me so happy. She makes me feel so loved. I love her so much I could shout it from the rooftops!” The lovesick grin and softness in his eyes only made Plagg smile, even if he wasn’t a fan of all the mushiness.
“So, what are you going to do about it, kid?”
“I’m going to ask her to marry me. Not right now. Not today. It’s got to be perfect. I know we’re 18, but we’ll be moving in together this summer. We don’t have to get married right now. We can finish university first.” He started pacing the bathroom. “We don’t have to move that fast. I just want her to know that I’m serious about us and about our future. I want to one day have a home, have our three kids that she always talks about, maybe get a cat and also get a hamster that she wanted to name-”
A knock on the door interrupted his ramblings.  
“Adrien? Sweetie? Are you okay? You’ve been in there a while. I just want to make sure you aren’t having a panic attack over everything today.”
Adrien looked at the door and flustered, shutting the water off sheepishly. “Yeah, I’m okay.” He opened the door to see Marinette’s concerned eyes. Goodness, she’s stunning. He rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I started panicking a bit. It’s all a little too much to take in at once. I’m not used to his affectionate behavior.”
Marinette took a step forward and placed a loving hand on his bicep, rubbing soothing circles to it. “Do you want to take a break and take a walk in the courtyard? I haven’t said Merry Christmas to your mother’s monument yet.”
Adrien nodded and grasped her hand, guiding them both to the coat closet to grab their winter gear.
The fresh air helped clear Adrien’s mind. Marinette’s hand was in the crook of his elbow while his own hands were deep within his pockets to keep warm. She nuzzled her nose into his shoulder and spoke softly about the conversations that had continued when Adrien stepped away. Adrien smiled at what was said, and agreed when Marinette admitted that Nathalie had an awfully cute giggle.
When they stood in front of the monument, Marinette smiled before wishing the late Agreste a heartfelt Merry Christmas. It was something Marinette remembered Adrien doing during her birthday, his birthday, and the anniversary of her death, so she knew he would have done this on Christmas too.  
The look of longing in his face only confirmed that she was correct in her thinking. Doing this for him only warmed her heart. He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. “Marinette, you are seriously amazing. How did I get so lucky to deserve someone as wonderful as you?”
“Being you is lucky enough. You deserve the world.”
“Well, you know black cats are unlucky, and being the wielder of destruction only adds to the bad luck. But you, my everyday ladybug, are my lady luck. So, I am lucky to have picked the luckiest lady of all.”
Marinette squinted her eyes at his pun-filled statement and pursed her lips in frustration.  She let go of his arm and crossed her arms across her chest. “Is that so. Well, maybe you aren’t that lucky at all.”
Adrien shrugged his shoulders and turned away from her. “Hey, I only speak the truth.”
“Is that so?” She said slowly.
“Yep, and I will always- humph!” Adrien was caught with a surprise snowball to the back of his head. “Oh, this is war!” He shouted.
Quickly, Adrien scooped up a handful of packed snow and chucked it at the bluenette. She dodged at the last second before throwing her already made snowball at his chest. She laughed at his mock-hurt of being hit that she didn’t see the incoming snowball that landed in her face. She was stunned, but decided that she needed to charge in his direction, scooping up another handful of snow in the process.  
Adrien laughed at her determination and bolted to the left, bobbing and weaving to help deter her good aim. He scooped another handful of snow and threw it over his shoulder, missing Marinette by a few centimeters. She took the opportunity and threw not one, not two, but three packed snowballs that were hidden in the shelf she made with her arm against her chest, hitting Adrien in the chest, back, and face with rapid fire.
His Chat Noir was showing. He feigned being shot, dropping to his knees before falling face first into a pile of snow. Still laying there, he propped his arm up, waving his finger around like a makeshift flag surrendering to the opposing team.
Marinette lifted her arms in the air and ran around him in excitement over the win. She was channeling her inner Kim when he competed and won against Alix.
Adrien got up and dusted the snow off his clothes before bowing to the champion. “To the winner.”
“Thank you, thank you.” Marinette said as she curtsied to him. “And what is my prize for winning?” She teased.
Adrien smirked. “This.” He picked her up and spun her around, landing a passionate kiss to her lips. Once they parted, she smiled at the reward. “And a mug of hot cocoa.” Marinette nodded excitedly in agreement.
He grabbed her hand. “Come on. Let’s get back inside.”
