I really want to read Bright We Burn right away but knowing that this will be last journey of Lada, I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye yet. Lada is one of the fiercest bad-ass heroine I've ever read. I love her courage, her darkness, her violence, her loyalty and sacrifices for her Country. I just love everything about her, and I hope she gets the happiness she deserves (though I'm not really positive about that). IT'S FINE @KIERSTENWHITE 😡 COMPLETELY CAPTURE MY HEART THEN SET IT ON FIRE, STOMP ON IT, CACKLE EVILLY AND REPEAT 😭 The audacity of some authors 😆 seriously though it's taken so long for me to post these reviews because I've been grieving certain events in this book that left me emotionally devastated. 💔 When I finished Bright We Burn I just sat on my couch numb hugging the book to my chest crying silently. No. I'm not exaggerating. I fell in love with Lada and Radu and the things they go through in this book are devastating 😩 it's such a beautiful, bittersweet book that to this day, a week after finishing, I'm still mourning 😢 Lada becomes almost omnipotent in this book and seems to be more than human in many ways. Until we are thrown several reminders that she is in fact only human 😭 I'm being so careful to not give spoilers but FUCK. I choke up, my chest aches and I get teary thinking about the things she endured. 😭 In contrast, I'm so overwhelmed with joy. There are certain events that are just so heartwarming and surprising and lovely that as equally as your soul is broken you are given shreds of hope and love and humanity to hold onto ❤ Overall, huge kudos to Kiersten for ending the series the way she did. She has some serious temerity to end it the way she did but honestly there was no other way to end it and she executed it perfectly ❤ This is easily one of the most underrated series out there. I have officially joined the cult of Lada Dracul and I am obsessed with this savage QUEEEEEEN😈 @kierstenwhite has written a phenomenal rendition of Vlad the impaler with a feminist twist 👌 whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the first book And I Darken, this book just added to the Lada love and it is so complex and beautiful ❤ Lada is easily one of my favorite female characters ever and I don't think I've found a character that I feel this deeply about in a LONG time 💪 Her brother Radu is so opposite to her in such a bittersweet way. His softness, his tact, his emotional intelligence, his willingness to love, his faith... He is just precious and I love him like a little brother ❤ Mehemed.... Exists. 😂 I'm not totally a fan but I do love the romantic tension between him and Lada and by that I love how Lada firmly asserts who she is and what she's about and he kinda gets blown away by her independence and mental fortitude 🔥 These books are very different to my usual fantasy reads but this dark, historical fiction is dangerous and twisted and feminist and beautiful and just WOW. FUCKING WOW. ❤ This series does not get enough love. I am not a historical fiction reader but I have discovered this year that maybe I've been wrong about that 🙈 And I Darken is breathtaking🔥 Lada is the pinnacle of a dark heroine... Anti-hero... 😆 she is like Mia Corvere but with her humanity stripped away. Lada is like a vengeful god and I am OBSESSED ❤ (THANKYOU @bellusoddities FOR MAKING ME READ THIS) On the other side, we have Radu 😊 sweet, pure, innocent Radu 😍 a master of humanity. The embodiment of social manipulation...
