Lacuna Coil + Blind Channel @ KKs Steel Mill Wolverhampton - 22/10/2024
Blind Channel [8] power through struggles with a troublesome PA system with ease. Whilst there appeared to be some reluctance to get on board with the Violent Pop group, you can feel the audience reaction grow and grow with each track they play. By the end after a little Eminem/System of a Down medley they bald out their Backstreet Boys cover “EVERYBODY (BLOODBROS BACK)” which really won over those last few hold outs. They have truly earned a rest after the workhorse schedule and I can’t wait to see them again.
Lacuna Coil [9] have been at this for a long ass time, and with that comes a level of expectation and experience. With Cristina being as adored by her fan base as she is, everything she says gets a great reaction, she deals with hecklers with ease and humour. Their sound is on point, their visuals are extremely appeasing, I love their new merch that they’re all wearing of a big bird skull (but not enough for nearly 50 quid I don’t have). The way they command the room, the confidence, the attitude, all of it’s a sign of lifelong experience.

LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA Blasts Online Trolls: 'There Is No Space For Negativity And Hate In Our Family'
In a recent interview with Powerful Reactions, LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia discussed how she feels about online trolls. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "A lot of people say that if you have haters, it means that you made it. And we don't really have haters. Yes, we have haters, we have some people commenting, but I never put together haters [with] success, because people can hate on you for free without even caring about you. And the fact that we don't have real negativity in our community makes me really, really proud, because it shows that you can convince people with your work and with your attitude that you don't need to be a dick just because you have been able to have more opportunities than others, only because you're privileged and you're lucky to be doing, as a job, what you love. So, honestly, there is no space for negativity and hate in our family."
She added: "It is true that most haters usually love whoever they are criticizing, because there would be no point. I mean, if you don't care about something or if you don't like it, you do other stuff. You don't even waste the time to comment on something that you don't like."
Scabbia previously talked about the pitfalls of social media in a 2019 interview with Loud TV. At the time she said: "Sometimes I think that the new generation is kind of fucked, especially with social media. They've lost control. They sometimes have no idea how real life is. They're always ready to judge everyone else. Everyone has an opinion even if they have no idea what they are talking about. Everybody is a judge and everybody is ready to jump on the train of haters. This is kind of fucked up.
"A lot of people are saying, 'Don't feed the trolls.' I have the opposite attitude," she explained. "If someone comes to my pages or to a LACUNA COIL page, just like there to throw shit to us, I react. I'm not the person that is, like, 'Okay, I'll block you.' I will answer you. I don't mind if other fans will jump on board and will kick your ass. You did something that wasn't right, so you have to understand that what you did was wrong. And if I block you and I delete your message, it's like I'm not paying attention to you. But what I want to do is 'I paid attention to you. You're an idiot. You have to realize that whatever you do brings a consequence.' So, if the consequence is me answering and giving you two minutes of attention, it's not too bad if other people tell you're an asshole and will maybe make you think twice about what you did."
"Comalies XX", a "deconstructed" and "transported" version of LACUNA COIL's third album, "Comalies", was made available on October 14 via Century Media Records.
Back in 2002, LACUNA COIL released an album which is now undeniably an anthem-laden millennial classic that established them as a band with the stamina to go the distance. Now, 20 years later, the current lineup of LACUNA COIL decided to revisit the songs, but not to just re-record them as they were but deconstruct and transport them into 2022.
"Comalies" was originally released on October 29, 2002 through Century Media Records. The LP, which featured the band's breakthrough single "Heaven's A Lie", has reportedly gone on to sell over 300,000 copies in the United States alone.

50: Do you believe in magic?
74: What’s a song that always makes you happy when you hear it?
85: What’s the last song you listened to?
91: You accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what’s even cooler is that they endow you with the super-power of your choice! What is that power?
50. In a young girl’s heart? How the music can free her whenever it starts? I believe in a type of magic (eg music’s ability to open up a different emotional side of us and help us heal), but not like… Harry Potter magic or Disney magic. I wish though.
74. LOL the first thing that came to mind was the song I just quoted (The Lovin’ Spoonful’s Do You Believe In Magic?). But also Ruelle’s I Get To Love You makes me really sappy happy (walked down the aisle to it), Etta James’ At Last (another wedding song)… Hollywood Undead’s Comin in Hot gets me PUMPED… Papa Roach Elevate gets me pumped too…
85: Heaven’s a Lie by Lacuna Coil, but it’s halfway through. Before that, Breathe by Ad Infinitum.
91: Time travel is my knee jerk reaction, but honestly, I’d love the ability to remember (and easily recall) every little thing perfectly without trying and without any consequence.
Thanks anon :)

You Love Me 'Cause I Hate You
Lucifer x Reader (Y/N)
Warnings: Angst, PURE ANGST!!!!. Dean being somewhat of a dick.
Based off of the Lacuna Coil song "You Love Me 'Cause I Hate You"
Note: I feel like this one isn't as good, but I have hopes.
The purple highlights are lyrics from the song but they're not in the correct order.
____________________________________________________
You've been living with your cousins Sam and Dean for about 3 in a half months now, and you've been helping them on their hunts.
Decapitated a vampire here, stabbed a demon there, the fun stuff. Thats when you met him.
No not Castiel but another feathery entity, Lucifer, he recently started to tag along on your guys hunts. Sometimes he'll just randomly show up at your guys hunts. Sam and Dean thought this was weird because he's never shown up to help them unless he wanted to which was never, or if he was forced to.
You joked to yourself that he was in love with you, because he showed up whenever you were with them but you didn't take it seriously. You couldn't love him because he's the Devil, and from what Sam and Dean have said about him, it made you keep your distance from him, but it seemed that he was trying to get closer to you. You'll admit he's vessel is very attractive, if only he wasn't Satan.
*This is the first time, you've had your first encounter with him.*
Sam, Dean, Castiel and you were about to leave the bunker to track down a pack of vampires who were kidnapping locals a few towns over. Then something hits you, it has never felt so uncomfortable, like a presence has entered and the room gets is so cold. Like the temperature dropped 30 degrees.
You look behind you, and see a blonde man attractive man that you have never seen before.
"Lucifer?!?" Sam mutters.
Him, Dean and Cas stand in front of you just incase anything happens.
"What are you doing here?" Dean asks. Lucifer looks over at you, his gaze is slowing your breath down, as if he wanted that to be your reaction. The tension becomes so tangible. So unbearable.
"No reason" he says, shrugging "Maybe to bother you!?. Who knows!. Hell gets boring after a while, and plus I wanted to check in on my true vessel" he looks over at Sam who looks unnerved.
You don't know why but you felt a little something for him. You just know him as Lucifer and from that name you know he's the Devil, Satan.
Unconvinced, Dean rolls his eyes, and says "Yeah well we're about to leave on a hunt. So buh bye" and with that being said, the 4 of you leave the bunker.
When you go up the stairs, you look back, and see that Lucifer is gone.
To love is harder than you think. You couldn't help but feel certain feelings for the Archangel but you just ignore them like you always do.
You guys drive a few towns over. Upon arrival Sam and Dean speak with local law enforcement, while you and Cas look around and speak with the family of victims who were kidnapped.
"So did your son have any enemies? Anyone who wanted to do him harm?" you ask the distraught mother of one of the kidnapping victims.
"No, no, not that I know of" she says, you nod your head before asking your next question.
"One last question. Did you son seem distant? Like would he come home late? Stay in his room for the whole day? Like he wasn't opening up to you or to anyone?"
"He did come home pass curfew 5-6 times in the last few weeks, but other than that he would lock himself in his room, and not come out unless it was for the bathroom" she continues speaking, you look behind her and you see Lucifer slightly wave at you with a smile.
There's no running away. "Is he gonna follow me at every hunt?" you think to yourself.
"But he was talking and hanging out with some sketchy people before he went missing" she finishes.
You pretend to write down the last things she said, "Okay thank you for your time. We'll do everything we can to find your son" you hand her a business card with your fake FBI name and phone number.
"Thank you Agent" she says tearfully.
You walk towards the Impala, waiting for Sam, Dean and Cas to finish talking to the families of the victims and the police.
You lean against the car, looking through your phone.
"Hello!" Lucifer says, enthusiastically, making you jump.
You look over at him, and can't help but smile.
"Did I scare ya?" he says, with a huge smile on his face.
Obsessed with you and me maybe? But you'll admit he's pretty cute, he seems harmless maybe? He can't possibly be the Lucifer every religious person has said to you.
You smile again, "A little bit" you reply, before looking towards where Sam and Dean were.
From your peripheral vision, you see Lucifer staring at you. You look over at him, and give him a smile.
"I didn't catch your name" he says, now standing in front of you.
"Y/n" you say.
"Y/n?. That's a nice name" he says, and for some reason that surpises you.
"Thank you" you say, with a smile.
"Yep he's definitely not like they say he is. He's actually nice and friendly" you think to yourself.
"They don't want you to know about that side of me" he says to you.
You look at him confused "How did you?".
Then he points to his head, and says "Mind reading".
You both smile at each other, he was about to say something else but gets cut off by Dean.
"What are you doing here?!?" he asks, with his arms out.
"I'm just here to meet Y/n" he says, "And I didn't even ask but I knew s/he is related to you two" he adds pointing to Sam and Dean.
Lucifer wanted to get to know you but of course he couldn't with Sam, Dean and his little brother Castiel being around. So he suggested a secret relationship. You were both very fond of each other so you wanted to give it a try.
_________________________________________________
After 7 in half months you and Lucifer have been secretly seeing each other. You both love each other. He was one hell of a lover in bed.
He would appear in your room before you went to sleep, or when you're in the shower just to watch you, maybe join you. Whenever Sam, Dean and Castiel weren't around.
That's when one day, Dean came into your room, and saw you straddling Lucifer's lap in bed.
"Y/n??!?!!!" he yells, making you jump off your bed in panic.
"Dean?!!?! It's not what it looks like" you explain.
"It's not what it looks like?!?!?. You were making out with Lucifer" he yells again.
The tape on your mouth, is slowing your breath down, the rope is still tight. That's what this whole situation felt like, you were in full panic mode, you didn't know what to say. You felt tension in your chest.
You tried to explain to him but he's not having it.
"Dean, please, please let me explain I'm sorry if I crossed the line, I know I've lost it but I just can't see Lucifer the way you, Sam and Cas do"
"You are not to see him!!" he tells you, with anger and disappointment in his voice, pointing at Lucifer.
"Dean please I-" you get cut off.
"Anymore!!" he raises his voice, closing your bedroom door.
You turn around, and see Lucifer leaning against your bookshelf, looking completely unbothered by what just happened.
"He'll get over it" he says.
He leans off the shelf and approaches you, he cups your face and says "Even if you're afraid of what will happen between us, I'll make you mine even if I have to wait until the end. Just know that, you're the only human to make me feel this way. I love you".
You knew he meant every single word he said.
You pull away from his hands, tears streaming down your face, "I can't do this anymore, I feel the exact same way with you, but I can't do that to Sam and Dean they're my family. The only family I have left. There's no running away, there's no guilt and no shame, I know I've crossed the line with this. Just know that I love you too but I can't be with you. Is this the end?".
"No, no its not" he says, voice choking up.
You break down crying, even though he's Lucifer, one of the most evil entities in the world. Hated by many, feared by many, loved by very few, and you were one that loved him.
He start to cry just by watching you cry.
"You love me 'cause I hate you" you stumble on your words.
He shakes his head, tears streaming down his face. "You don't mean that".
"I was obsessed with you and me. Everything I felt about you was real".
He knows you don't mean that, he knows you love him because of how broken you are, but he understands your choice. He won't do harm to Sam and Dean because that'll really make you hate him.
You look away from him, and when you look back at him he's gone. You leave your room, and enter the library.
All 3 of them are sitting at the table.
"Y/n?" Sam mutters. Dean stands up the second he sees you and says.
"Y/n, I'm sorry if that I raise my voice, I never meant to hurt you but I had no choice. I'm just looking out for you but please don't ever lie to me, or to Sam or Cas".
You nod your head, "Yeah, I know. He's gone" you tell them, with a faint smile but you're still broken inside.

CW: mental illness, depression, living in Amerika (es ist nicht wunderbar)
In case you are wondering what it's like being mentally ill, self aware, LGBT+, and broke in America right now, here it is:
I wake up every morning with an intense sense of dread. My anxiety is the first thing that starts up, going through the list of the possible horrors that may have happened while I was sleeping. I check my phone; it doesn't make me feel any better. Reactions to my shit posts on Facebook, an email from my boss about sales numbers, group chats with friends who are feeling just as hopeless as I am populate my screen.
If it's a work day, there's a 50/50 chance I'm able to drag myself out of bed in time to shower, get dressed, and get out the door. Work is a mindless blur of interactions with customers who can't keep their masks on, usually wearing a MAGA hat. Occasionally my co-workers will talk politics (thankfully they hate the annoying orange), or anime. I'm lucky if I can get to the end of my shift without an anxiety attack.
When I get home, I'm usually exhausted. I'm not tired because my job is physically exhausting, but because it's emotionally taxing. My social battery is drained by the forced niceties I'm obligated to make, and it in turn drains my physical strength. I eat, often for the first time that day. My appetite is gone; it has been for the last six months. At this point, I'm barely 100lbs. I'll scroll through Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram, relishing any opportunity I have to find something that makes me laugh. I sometimes will; more commonly, I find another news story about how things are going even more horribly wrong here. The COVID death toll is now over 200k; an anti-choice justice has been nominated for SCOTUS; Trump only paid $750 in taxes; the DOD is trying to figure out a plan in the event Trump refuses to leave office on election day if he doesn't win reelection. So many people in other countries fuckin hate us, or pity us. I don't blame them; US foreign policy has been absolute shit for decades, and now the world's largest military superpower is on its knees because, well, the chickens came home to roost. Our prideful dick waving got us the human embodiment of pride, greed, gluttony, wrath, sloth, etc in the Oval Office. I didn't vote for him; I never will. I still grieve what could have been had Bernie been the '16 Democratic nominee, but I know that there's no use holding onto that too tightly.
Some weeks, the usual horror show is joined by more instances of our justice system being the dumpster fire it is. George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. The list of names grows longer, the protests angrier, the retribution from the ruling class more enraged. I fear for my loved ones in larger cities. I get angry at the astounding level of ignorance from those who raised me. When it grows to be too much, I open Spotify and dive into music. Rammstein, Emigrate, Aesthetic Perfection, Celldweller, Korn, Orgy, and Lacuna Coil have been some of my favorites lately. I can't listen to Alice in Chains without remembering the last time I actually felt hopeful, enthusiastic, like life was truly wonderful. It hurts. I'm barely holding out for R+'s show in Minneapolis next year.
These thoughts keep me from swirling into darker ponderings. The worry that civil unrest will turn into civil war is lurking at the darkest corners of my mind. Plans for escape swirl, but nothing concrete materializes. I don't know what to do. Therapy is a dead end, I haven't had a therapist I felt I could trust since I was 17. Medication just makes me sick. I am absolutely and completely lost. I can only hope things change for the better on November 3, but it seems unrealistic. I don't know why I keep going, except that I'm too spiteful to die.

Current Music Obsessions: September 2019
I got pretty distracted in September so the list isn't that long, but that doesn't mean there weren't any great jams. Let's look at them honorable mentions.
Arkan - My Reverence The Inferno Doll - Broken Inferno Divided Island - Dispoable Mors Principium Est - We are the Sleep Moran Magal - Tododo Swallow the Sun - When a Shadow is Forced into the Light Seven - Floodline My Propane - Broken Bone Celestivl - Melisandre
Starkill - Emerge Ayumi - Hey-La Au/Ra - Dance in the Dark Poppy - Concrete Angel Olsen - All Mirrors Muna - Who 3TEETH - American Landfill Sharks in Your Mouth - Sacrilegious Shield of Wings - Solarium Sin7sinS - As Rain Falls Down Lindsay Schoolcraft - Savior Cradle of Filth - Amor e Morte Verite - Gone Mechina - Realm Breaker
Now let's look at what I was really obsessed with.
Maruv - Между нами
I love the r&b flare to this track. It's different from the other songs I've heard from her and is now one of my favorites I've heard. Also there are some pitch-shift harmonies in the pre-chorus, and we all know I'm a sucker for them. I also did a reaction video to this song/video on my second channel, so go check it out here if you want.
Chaos Magic - Bravely Beautiful feat. Ailyn Gimenez
I got curious one day and decided to check and see if Ailyn had done any recent guest work and came across this. The last time I had listened to Chaos Magic I wasn't thrilled at all, so I was a bit worried going into it, but holy tits is this a gorgeous song with such a lovely message. I think I'll give the whole album a listen now.
Lacuna Coil - Layers of Time
They really blew this one out of the water. It's so powerful and is quite dramatic coming from them. I'm really looking forward to hearing the new album now after hearing this and some of the other singles. The bridge alone is so epic and amazing and I can't get over it.
Leprous - Below
Oh my god. This is fucking gorgeous. This song is full of so much sadness and raw emotion. Einar's voice is absolutely stunning on this track. The harmonies in the chorus are so beautiful. I also love how doomy this song is along with how ambient it gets at times. Really looking forward to hearing Pitfalls now.
Muna - Stayaway
Who gave them the right to make a song this good? It's my favorite song from them now. They really popped off and made a song that was so relateable and sad and real and I can't get over it. I haven't listened to Saves the World yet since I'm bummed I can't see them tonight and didn't want to make myself more bummed out about it, but there will be other tours and these girls are just getting started. I also did a reaction video to this one too, so check it out if you'd like.
Delain - Burning Bridges
CHARLOTTE IS SCREAMING IN THE STUDIO NOW. YES BITCH. The hype is so real. This track is such a powerhouse and really shows off just how much these guys have grown over the years, especially Charlotte as a singer. And the final shameless plug of this post: check out the reaction video I did for this song too. I seriously can't wait to see and meet them later this month.
And that's it for September. So far October is off to a slow start, but who knows, it might be a powerhouse of music.

How does it feel to be faced in your territory? Are you surprised to see me?- Lacuna Coil, “I’m Not Afraid”
(Another literal interpretation of lyrics, since it’s not based off the song >-> Thank you so much for your patience, @jasleh! [I would have added a screenshot if I really had any lol])
The hunt was long and arduous, though by the end of it all - and with more than enough wounds to last a lifetime - M’nhea dragged himself out to sit for a much needed rest. He had hoped to take on the beast himself, yet another had joined the fray. How Jajaraji managed to see the fray was another story entirely. Maybe he could hear it - how much M’nhea was struggling to keep himself alive. Though the man’s first reaction was not that of gratitude.“C’mon, man! That was my kill!” He whined much like a child, crouching upon the rock he sat on and frowned. “How come you get proof of the kill and I don’t, I was here first!”How… annoying. Though if anyone knew M’nhea, he would have been everyone’s last choice in Warrior or hunter - it was pretty obvious why. He wasn’t going to fight the man for his prize, nor was he going to harass him for it, he wasn’t that type of guy.“Could, uhm. Would you be willing to share the reward?” He looked sheepish, perhaps? He was never the best hunter out there, and he could more hits than deal damage, to be in the range of someone whom could have taken on the beast himself, well… it was a little more than nerve wracking for the anxious Miqo’te. “Erm. And, uh. Thanks, I guess.”

WRESTLING STATS FOR YOUR FAVORITE’S FAVORITE
japan is thee wrestling capital of the world. a professional wrestler’s career is optimized once they’ve been invited to wrestle in japan. this is a real life fact , but for the sake of this , i’ll also be leaving that as a bnha fact too. for val’s sake , her goal is to wrestle around the world , but japan is an amazing start. on to the stats !
IN --- RING NAME: MIYAH ROSA ALIGNMENT: TWEENER LEANING TOWARDS HEEL ( which means she’s neutral but isn’t afraid to do ‘ sketchy ‘ things to get the win. like cheat or use a weapon or , in this case , her quirk. ) ENTRANCE MUSIC: OUT TRUTH BY LACUNA COIL INSTRUMENTAL IN --- RING ATTIRE: XXX MOVESET: her moveset is similar to the legend that is MOLLY HOLLY. of course , not identical but for the most part she is big inspo for how val is in the ring. there’s a little link to the moveset on molly’s name , if you wanna give it a quick look. SIGNATURE MOVES: a signature move is a move or ability that is almost signature to the person or character that uses it.
LEG TRAP SUNSET SLIP POWERBOMB ( MIYAH BOMB )
FLOATOVER DDT ( ROSA DDT )
FINISHER: a finishing move is a move that is considered a wrestler’s strongest move. if done successfully , this is the move that knocks the wind out of the opponent and secures the wrestler the win.
SPLIT LEGGED MOONSAULT ( MIYAH’S THORNS )
PROMO SAMPLE: just a little sample of what her promo --- ing skills would be like. in wrestling , a promo is short for "promotional interview" , is a dialogue or monologue used to advance a storyline. the act of delivering such an interview is known in the business and by fans as cutting a promo.
“ everyone is against me , everyone ! i read it online , i hear the reactions ... they think i can’t beat her ? that i can’t win the championship ? a ... a bunch of basement dwelling low lives is what they are ! listen here and listen good , i will become the next women’s champion. i will become the longest reigning women’s champion and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. i’ll do whatever it takes because miyah rosa always , always gets the win. ... now get out of my face with all this bullshit ! “ she smacks the microphone away from her face before walking off.

CRISTINA SCABBIA On Fallout From LACUNA COIL Livestream: 'Sometimes There Is A Price To Pay If You Want To Stand Up For Your Ideals'
LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia has released a longer video explaining the band's decision to take part in an initiative dubbed "L'Ultimo Concerto?" (Last Concert) to highlight the increasingly uncertain future of music venues. Instead of delivering live performances as part of a scheduled free virtual stream on Saturday, February 27, each of around 130 Italian artists was filmed taking the stage at a different venue and then standing there in silence as a way of commemorating the one-year mark since the first Italian venues closed.
On Sunday (February 28), Scabbia took to her Twitch livestream to offer a more detailed clarification of LACUNA COIL's reasons for participating in "L'Ultimo Concerto?" and to express her sympathy for fans who felt shortchanged by the experience.
"Sometimes there is a price to pay if you want to stand up for your ideals," Cristina said. "And we wanted to send a very strong message. That's why we decided to be part of this protest that is a way to support live clubs that are closing. They asked us to participate, together with more than 120 bands. And we have decided to accept. So it is not an attack towards our fans. It was not our way to create an illusion and malcontent and discontent and frustrations and sadness and anger, because we didn't mean to play with your expectations, and we know better than a lot of people that this pandemic ruined our lives and it took [a huge toll] on a lot of us.
"Our participation was the response to an invitation," she continued. "The only difference is that, compared to pretty much all the other bands [that took part in the protest], we are known out of Italy. So for us, the problem was, well, if we announce this concert, we have to say it in English as well. Because if we don't say it in English, a lot of people will say, 'Oh, why not for eyes out of Italy?' So we had to announce it. But if you notice, we only posted the virtual poster that we got from the organizers. We never published it. If you notice, you guys asked me a few times, 'What's gonna happen? What do we have to do? Where do we have to look at it?' And I was very, very short with words, with descriptions. We never [promoted it any further], and we didn't do it for a reason, because we already felt bad, because we already felt that we were kind of tricking people. But this was the only way to send a very strong message.
"I read many, many, many of your messages yesterday. Some of them understood, some of them were really pissed off, and I absolutely understand the frustration and the anger. But at the same time, whoever left a harsh message helped us anyway to scream even louder. Because believe me that they talked about it, and it was on Blabbermouth today. A lot of journalists are following LACUNA COIL, so they already wrote me, they want to do interviews, so we can talk about this.
"Some of the people were, like, 'But we are the wrong people to give the message to, because we are supporting you guys; we are buying the merch and we are buying the tickets of the concert.' But the point was to create a reaction that would make a lot of people say, 'What the fuck is going on right now? Why they didn't play? Why they stood there? Why they're sending this message?'
"It is hard to find the proper words, because I understand — I understand the reaction," Cristina added. "Today the tone of the messages [from fans on social media] changed completely, because after the frustration, you just sit down, you breathe in, you breathe out, and you think, 'Okay, it was bad to realize that there was no concert, but I understand why they did it.'"
Organized by KeepOn Live, Arci, Assomusica and Live DMA, the "L'Ultimo Concerto?" campaign was announced in January when the venues shared images on social media of their year of foundation and the year 2021 with a question mark, suggesting that their closures due to the coronavirus pandemic could be permanent.
Between March and June 2020, the Italian government imposed a national lockdown by restricting people's movements to contain the pandemic. Thus, museums and cinemas closed and all cultural events were either canceled or rescheduled.
Around 300,000 people working in theaters, music venues, cinemas and cultural spaces in Italy have been rendered jobless since they shut their doors due to the coronavirus crisis.
Earlier on Saturday, Italy announced it was tightening restrictions in five of the country's 20 regions in an effort curb the spread of the coronavirus.
There have been more than 2.9 million confirmed coronavirus cases and 97,500 deaths in Italy since the pandemic began. It is the second-highest death toll in Europe after Britain and the seventh-highest in the world.

LACUNA COIL
Interview with Cristina Scabbia by Daniel Hinds
(conducted June 1999)
One of the most impressive bands to emerge from Italy in recent times has to be Lacuna Coil. Mixing elements of gothic and metal in an unusual way, they fall into that same vague, hard-to-define sub-genre that bands like Sentenced and Moonspell now call home. What separates Lacuna Coil from the others, though, is the addition of the graceful, soaring vocals of Cristina Scabbia. The elements all fall into place on the band's debut full-length, In A Reverie, which was just recently issued in the States after being available overseas for a while.
Though she began our conversation by apologizing for her bad English, I found Cristina to be very articulate, as well as quite charming and optimistic - rare traits in a metal singer, to be sure, but nothing about Lacuna Coil is commonplace.
I understand you recently did a tour with Skyclad. How did that go? Very good. With Skyclad and then another month with Grip Inc. and Samael. With Grip Inc., it was sort of a festival for a week. The reaction of the audience was great and all the bands are really nice guys (laughs). Also, with Skyclad, it was really good because they are really happy people. They like to enjoy themselves - we drank a lot, we had a really good time with them. Also, the audience of Skyclad is really open-minded. We are two different bands, but the audience was really open-minded and they liked us. Fortunately! (laughs)
How about future shows? Right now, we're going to play some festivals in Germany and we have to play in Naples, in Italy, with Aerosmith (?!-dh) on the 12th of July and some festivals around. But we also have to write some new songs, new material for the new album because we want to record it in January of next year. I only know that maybe we might play some festivals around the US next year, but I don't know when yet.
Speaking of writing a new album, what is the Lacuna Coil writing process like? Mmm, it depends. Right now, we want to change the way we write new songs, but usually, the main composer is the bass player, along with the guitar player, and they write the main structure and the guitar parts. Then we try, with a drum machine, to find the good drum parts, they try it in the practice room, then we find the vocal lines and the lyrics. But we want to change and to try to start the songs from the vocal line, for example.
How do you feel the new album differs from the EP? The first thing is the line-up changed. You can hear it from the music, because you can hear that it is more positive and more mature. The compositions are changed, because we take a lot of care with the structure of the songs. I think the main thing is it is more mature. We wrote songs, instead of just music, some riffs put together. Maybe the one is more natural, because it reflects what we were in that period, but right now In A Reverie can explain the condition of the band - very positive, very 'in a reverie,' in a dream.
How did you first get involved with Lacuna Coil? In '96, because you know the band used to only play for a hobby, between friends in the practice room. They only asked me to do some choruses for the demo tape that we recorded in '96, and I said 'yes.' After that, they asked me to be another singer. We said, 'Okay, let's try to have two singers, but not only a chorus and a main singer. Let's try to sing together with a male and a female.' That's about it. They were friends of mine.
Do you write the lyrics? Yeah, we wrote the lyrics, me and Andrea (Ferro, male vocalist), together, along with Valerie from Century Media. She's Italian-American, so she can help us better.
Where do you get your inspiration from for the lyrics? We used to talk about personal things, things that happen every day. We don't want to talk about pessimistic things, because we're not into that. But we really like to talk about our personal feelings or personal or experiences we've had: love, hate, when you're sad - we want to try to talk about sensations maybe. We try to suck inspiration from the music. If the music is sad, I of course cannot write happy lyrics. But we like to talk to about real things.
How did the actual recording of In A Reverie go and do you actually like working in the studio? Yeah, a lot. Maybe it is the worst experience for a musician (the studio), because you have to be prepared even if you are ill or something. You have to be ready to do your best. You're in the studio early in the morning and stay in the studio all day. And maybe it is boring because you have to wait for all the parts to be finished before you record, but I think it is very good. We recorded in the same studio, The Woodhouse, with the same producer, Waldemar Sorychta. Waldemar right now is a very big friend of ours. If, in the first album, we received a lot of advice from him in terms of the music, (this time) we wrote everything by ourselves and we received his help only in the studio, with the recording.
Was it difficult to get attention outside of Italy? Not so much. In Italy, there is not a very big scene in metal because people used to listen to more commercial stuff like your dance music from England, or MTV or something like that. It's not so difficult when you become well known outside of Italy and then come back into Italy. It is difficult for an Italian band, for example, to have a good record label in Italy or to play…. The people, it is really strange. I don't know why, but they have more respect for the bands outside of Italy. Maybe they think the bands outside Italy are better - I don't know why. But right now, we are quite famous and we are really happy because now the trend in Italy is the power metal, the epic metal, and we are totally different. We are the only band that you can find in the magazines that's a little important that play another kind of music, so we're proud of that.
Does it bother you when people comment more on how you look rather than the music? Ah, it's normal. Have you ever thought about the intelligence of Pamela Anderson? (laughs) No, I think it's normal because, in metal, it's not easy to find females in the bands. You cannot find a lot of female personalities in the bands, so it is normal because a lot of fans of heavy metal are guys. But I don't care, because they talk also a lot about the music. It's not a problem. Maybe it can only help us to be more in the magazines. (laughs)
Where did you guys get the name for the band? We chose it from…I don't know where exactly, maybe the Internet. The old name of the band was Ethereal and we recorded the demo tape with that name, but there was another band in Greece with the same name. We chose two words. 'Lacuna' is a Latin word that means 'when you have a lack of something,' like a lack of memory, for example. And 'coil' is a spiral and it's like an ethereal name, like 'empty spiral' so nobody can have the same name. I hope! (laughs)
What did you do before joining the band? I used to work in a shop, a clothes shop, and in an office also. Right now, I cannot still live just by the music, so I work in a pub as a barmaid. I work there when I'm in Milan. I really like to do it. Maybe one day, if I will not continue with the music, I can open a pub or something. I really like to talk with people, so I think it is the best work.
When did you first get seriously interested in being a singer and who were some of your early inspirations? Hmm.. I started in about 1991. I've always been interested in music, but I started to sing in '91, though for a completely different kind of music. I used to give my voice without my name for some products of dance, for some radio, but I didn't like it because I didn't like to be alone to sing. I really like being in a band, because it is like having a second family to be with. My inspiration…I don't know. My favorite singers are like Aretha Franklin, soul singers, but they are completely different from me, so they can only be idols, not inspiration.
What kind of music do you like to listen to? Everything. Maybe my favorite band is Depeche Mode, because I think they are really modern, even with the old songs, I really like them. But I like everything, from Extreme to Black Metal to everything really. I only hate Italian music because it's really boring.
You should do a cover… Oh yeah, but only in the practice room… (laughs) We are thinking about doing a cover, but we are not able to find one that we really like. We want to do one but not of a band from the metal scene. We want to do something really strange, I don't know what.
What do you like doing outside of music? It depends. I really like to draw. I really like to work in the pub, to see everyday your friends and at the same time you can make money. I like to travel, to go shopping, to go out and meet people. I love video games! I'm a big fan of PlayStation and Resident Evil. (laughs)
What are some of your favorite places you've traveled to, outside of Italy? For holidays, I haven't been so far from Italy: Spain, France, nothing more. But for the music, we've been everywhere in Europe: Norway, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Poland and Czech Republic. I'd like to go to America at the end of this month, so only my parents are going. (laughs) I'm really, really sorry.
I heard you might do a video from this album…? Mm, I'm not sure because it's not easy to get your video played. For example, in Italy, we only have MTV and another channel called DMC2, but they only play commercial stuff. I mean, the most heavy thing they play is Cranberries. It's not easy for a metal band to do a video. If you're not Metallica, you'll never see your video. You have to have a very good video, too. It's useless to do a video with a low budget. Right now, we want to concentrate ourselves more on life and music.
