"2.2.3 Kundalini” New Art Piece for the “Black Magik Circles” Art Show. Today I am dropping off my new Art Piece for this show. It was awesome working with “Vinyl” as a artistic medium. The texture, with the groves of the etched music on them, the Luster and the Shininess of the Rich Black record. It's truly Magical. What is amazing and magical about records, is that they are one of the few pure organic ways of listening to Real music. The other organic ways are listening to “Live” music, of course, and from analog tapes. When you walk into a room and you hear a record player playing, you actually, instantly can “Feel” and Hear the music. Our bodies are 98 percent water, and it gets flooded with sound waves thru and thru. This is the real healing aspect of listening to True Music. Records are amazing because they are played with tiny diamond crystals on the tip of the needles, they vibrate the sound waves! Nowadays, with technology, CD’s and Mp3s. Listening to music on our phones and computers, we lose the “Feel” of music. Yes our minds may perceive the sound, however, we don’t get the benefits of feeling the sound waves. CD’S and Mp3s are simply only music that has become “Numbers”. No longer waves of notes and sound. With that being said, I was inspired to create “2.2.3 Kundalini”, the Music serpent that awakens our bodies, rising up through the chakras, that heals us with awakening sound waves. The 223 is bullets, I wanted to add the bullets because they look so cool and are another beautiful texture and element. Plus if you ever have heard bullets shoot off , they are explosive with huge Sound and Waves of Energy!! This Sat Dec 11th is the opening of the art show. 6-9pm with D.J Uncle Abe, Featuring 25 Artist, inspired by @thelatejeffinn & curated by the beautiful @wendy_lee_gadzuk at the cool @la.matadora.gallery Im truly honored to be apart of this Magical show and Night of Music, Art and Magick Circles. Art Show by Martin Quintanilla & Marcy Miranda Janes 22 July 2017 Saturday 6-9 PM Martin Quintanilla, "Chamanacux" b. 1963 A native of Mexico City, later Morelia, Michoacan, and currently residing in Tucson, Arizona, Martin Quintanilla studied art restoration in Madrid and at the Casa de la Culture in Morelia. A former member of La Pura Neta art collective, winner of the 2000 Biennial of Michoacan and the 2007 Buffalo Exchange Arts Commission Award, Quintanilla founded and ran the studio galleries La Malinche in Tucson from 2008-2011, and Microgallery Mandibula from 2014-2017 in downtown Tucson. Quintanilla’s painting style of “Nacorococo,” a lowbrow maximalism, encompasses a wide range of themes, from mordant political commentary to pop humor, with a keen eye and affection for cotidian satire. He has exhibited his paintings and linocuts throughout the United States, Mexico and Cuba, with numerous solo shows in Tucson. Quintanilla’s work was recently included in the Museo Alfredo Zalce exhibit of significant artists of Michoacan, “Cronografia Visual en Michoacan.” In 2014, he curated the binational “Illegal Utopia” show at the cultural museum in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, and in Tucson.
