So this right here is why this scene was bittersweet for me.

I ADORE this movie and Halle. Ariel meant so much to me as a kid and I was worried the writing or directing would ruin it. Thank God my worries were proven wrong.

Because when I watched the LA Beauty and the Beast, Belle was also a character that meant a lot to me as a child because I felt seen. It’s not the same as what Halle represents, but I loved Belle so much.

When I saw Emma Watson, I was furious. She sucked all the fun and life out of the character. Even in scenes where she is supposed to be happy.

In Be Our Guest, I was shocked at how dull and lifeless she seemed. She barely smiled, let alone looked anywhere near as enthusiastic as the cartoon (which was possible). 

In Under the Sea, Halle looks so happy. Like she’s appreciating the beauty of her home. She’s enthusiastic in a way I WISH Emma had been and it makes me sad that I missed out on that. (And don’t even get me started on her singing)

I wish that someone with Halle’s talent and beauty had been cast as Belle. And when I heard how Emma got chosen, I was livid because it had NOTHING to do with her actual talent or ability. 

I am so glad that Halle got the opportunity to play Ariel because she nailed it. I love her performance so much.

Here's an idea I've been working on to stretch my abilities. It's in line with the idea of Eric's kingdom and Ariel's people living side by side. Canals through the streets, going into businesses, selling items from ship wrecks, etc.

And the video process. I know there's more room for improvement, but I felt done with it.
