me: and while megamind and the spiderverse franchise are both excellent genre-aware superhero movies, megamind provides a subversion, almost a parody, on superhero tropes, while spiderverse is primarily a love-letter meta commentary on the genre. now things get really interesting when you consider both movies' position to the big MCU boom of the 2010s-- cashier: sir you are holding up the line

Okay but what if Jason wasnt a bad boyfriend.

What if he really did love Chrissy, but not in the girlfriend kind of way, but in the "I'll protect you" kind of way.

He was clearly deeply hurt by her death, so much so that he went on a full scale man hunt and riled up a mob, those arent the actions of a bad, abusive boyfriend that i keep seeing him potrayed as.

We know Chrissy had an eating disorder thanks to her mothers criticisms and her father refusing to stand up and protect her, but i often see Jason being lumped in with that too, like he's always critical of her, telling her what to wear or what to eat or something when really all we've seen of him is him telling her he loves her and looking at her like she hung the stars in the sky, and him being truly devestated, completely and utterly mentally broken by her death.

yeah, Chrissy didn't tell him about the hallucinations, but did she have time to?

we know after someone starts seeing things like the clock or horrible monsters, you havent got long left, you havent even got 24 hours, he's coming for you and soon, and she thought she could just fix it with a damn good nap, so she went to the drug dealer cause how would her squeaky clean sportsman boyfriend help her get a good nap? Drugs would do that just fine, right?

but even better, Chrissy has highkey LGBT vibes, what if Jason was more of a cover and less of a boyfriend. He loved her so much, grew up with her, and being with him kept her safe from people figuring her out, sometimes her mother would even chill the fuck out if he was there, he kept her as safe as he could, until one day... he couldn't. And she was gone.

Jason could be so much more than the shit boyfriend u guys!

dnd!Fundy is a fox shifter who was once a prince of the L'Manberg Kingdom, but after suffering neglect and not feeling like he's good enough for his father, he abandoned the Kingdom and decided to live in the Kingdom of Las Nevadas instead. He works in one of the big shops by giving people quests as well as concocting interesting potions. As well as that, he is experienced in being a ranger and does his best to hunt from time to time :)

Fundy is the first person Cala sees when she arrives in the kingdom and he immediately puts her to work, seeing she has potential. While she's doing numerous quests for him they get close! He shows her all around the Kingdom and introduces her to his colleagues (Purpled and Foolish) and she fits in perfectly.

Things are different though one day when she barges into his shop, looking exasperated and demanding that she needs to talk to him in private. That's when she tells him about the prison and how she needs potions to help him. Fundy immediately panics and he tries to convince her that it's a bad idea and explains how the man locked up is the reason why this world is fucked up in the first place-- and he knows from experience. But that doesn't stopn her from trying and he ultimately has to shut her down. But-- he does feel bad about it and feels wary on how he's being treated, so he goes to one of the guards that he somewhat trusts to talk to her; a tiefling named Halo.

He finds out that she broke Dream out right after the news breaks, and he's honestly terrified for her since he knows that there's a chance she might get hurt or worse. And his fears come to reality when he is tasked to hunt her and Dream down and do whatever it takes to bring her back. He manages to find the two and he's... hesitant on actually striking her. She doesn't notice him but Dream is instantly on guard since he feels something is wrong. And when he reveals himself, Dream is instantly about to attack but Cala is overjoyed! She sees a friend! And that's when he hesitates and stops himself since he sees that innocent look-- that unknowing look of her not realizing why he's here. And she invites him to stay for the night in their camp and at least tag along for a bit.

He eventually does, but he tries his best to keep why he's actually there to a minimum so she wont find out.

But Dream knows.

He knows all too well why he's there.
