Assistant Manager Kim Mi-kyung. You worked at the Wonhan SSM HQ for six years. Maybe that’s why you seem familiar.

Time was of the essence. Even if the Brass Claw Cartel’s influence had begun to take root within the Palace, and the infiltration operation was going smoothly, it was only a matter of time before their cover could be blown. Making haste, Kyung set off to find Lukem’s library in Nolybab the very first chance she got after being given the coordinates. Dressed in her street fashion to blend in with the crowd, the foreign female arrived at the establishment with everything she needed.
Specifically, a highly secured company laptop that was capable of encrypted video transmissions. She’d need it because she was but a messenger in this one mission, it was her boss that would do most of the talking.
An inconspicuous entrance with a small storefront with some journals, newspapers and stationery for sale, hidden cozily in a narrow side street. A door with a simple nameless "Library" sign. It looked so incredibly small and fragile under the massive walls of a big city overhanging above, it felt like it could be crushed by it's weight at any moment.
The library seemed like a place you'd never even know about unless you looked for it, but people who needed to know just knew.
Inside were rows of cluttered bookshelves with labels printed on simple office paper, new books mixed together with ones so worn out, it seemed like a miracle they were still holding together. Walls covered with posters and notes, a few desks with scratched edges, and a small computer lab in a separate room. A few silent visitors were spending their time here at this moment.
The place was drowning in warm yellow of the electric lights and the smell of old books, and gave off a peaceful and welcoming aura, although admittedly was a bit cramped for someone of Kyung's build.
It was hard to believe that if things turned out differently, the owner of this establishment could right now be the CEO of a place as grand as The Palace.
At the reception desk sat a lanky mudokon in a striped shirt, mindlessly flipping the pages of some journal.
When the foreign female entered, the mudokon perked up, looking at an unusual guest curiously. It was safe to say this place hasn't been visited by a Jimseomi before.
"How can I help you, ma'am?"

For those watching Doctor Slump who may not be in a scientific field... what Min Kyung-min did was incredibly shitty but not uncommon. It's also definitely fraud.
The word my subtitles are using is "dissertation", but since those are uncommon in medicine, I'm pretty sure Ha-neul is writing a scientific research paper intended for publication. Anyone hoping to become a professor would need to publish frequently. The rules for authorship are that anyone who has made a major intellectual contribution to the paper are supposed to be included as an author. It is common to sometimes add authors who are just in the lab group, the bigger problem is leaving someone off.
However, sole authorship is "better" and so at the end of grad school, your professor may encourage you to write a paper yourself. Kyung-min wanted that sole authorship but didn't do the work. If anything, Ha-neul deserved sole authorship. It's likely that Kyung-min was editing a draft and just submitted the paper without Ha-neul noticing.
Anyway, I have watched this sort of thing happen and I've heard horror stories about it. Science can be cutthroat, but I've been lucky to always work with people who were happy to share authorship. I've even been given authorship in some borderline cases because the primary authors wanted to be as inclusive as possible.

What did you think about todays episode on friendly rivalry?
spoilers for ep 16 down below!
i thought that it was a good ending! its open and ambiguous but we still know that they’ll probably end up together (as long as they’re happy together i’m happy too hehe) jaeyi sending seulgi shoes so that seulgi will run away with her 🥹🥹 and jaeyi going back to seulgi’s hometown… it’s just all so thought out and planned and adorable ugh i lab them >< tbh my fav moment would be seulgi at the edge of the diving board and then saying “btw i can’t swim” LIKE what a brat 😭
anyway the ending with kyung and yeri was also really cute,, lowk got whiplash at how kyung immediately appeared in a sex store but whatever lol it was funny. and a guy finally having interest in her only for kyung to reject him and leave with yeri 😓 the part where kyung stood up for yeri was super cute too hehe i just love them my horny queen and drug dealer… and their adoptive son…
in conclusion though, friendly rivalry was a 10/10 for me! good story, good acting, good cast, i was genuinely interested in every character and their development. even if they never explicitly said out right that seulgi and jaeyi love each other, the multiple innuendos were definitely a step up from anything we’ve gotten from other kdramas. would recommend to everyone 👍

Finished Sweet Home in one night because tradition demanded it (I did the same with the season one)
Here some thoughts:
•It kinda hit me how all the casualties in the first chapter, at least in that scene, they were caused not by the monster but by the army trying to kill it. Even if he hadn't killed or even hurt anyone. It protected a child and returned her to her mother. It is as if from the beginning they want to tell us "now this is the world we live in. Is this what we have become or what we always have been?"
•I whish Hyun Su could have had more screen time, I mean, he is the main character...his face appears at the middle of the poster...he is literally the bridge that unites monsters and humanity. But I also know they needed to show how things were with Eun Yoo and the others in the refuge. However we could have had glimpse of lab stuff, Wooi Myung/ Yi Kyungs husband past, and so.
•I am so invested on creating theories about Hyun Su's monster form psychology. Like it kinda looks like a wing, but why a wing? Why just one? What even was Hyun Su's deep wish? (I think it was that everyone disappeared) So, what does that have to do with his monster form?
Also. How can he fly with it? Huh. Not that I'm complaining tho, it looks cool.
•"What do you want" "What should we do?" *smirks mutherfuckingly*
Tumblr media
I cannot. I just can't. His eyes. The tension.
The strangers to apocalypse friends to apocalypse lover-enemies it's apparently what I needed.
Evil Hyun Su had enough with the baby steps. I don't understand how they thought leaving us like...that was a good plan. Guess I will have to wait half a year to find out.
If these two (three¿) don't get more screen time in season 3 I'm really, really, throwing hands. They were so cute in season 1 and now we know he has been watching over her all this time??
Tell me that that's not cute as hell.
It kinda shattered my soul when after saving her from falling into the well she kept trying to get to him and he "drew a line" with his wing. And she was going to keep trying. I'm not fine. And for the record, I never was.
•The kid....is she annoying? Yes, she is. But what she has of annoying she also has of interesting. Like how is she possible? Why?
From what I know and remember Yi Kyung was pregnant. That's all. They better do some explaining there in s3.
•I can't help to find parallels between her and Yeong Su. They are both young and traumatized. They hold very little knowledge of the world and for them is more than enough. Angry with their moms and adults/humans and they will make it everyone's problem.
•Eun Hyuk appearing at the very end of the final chapter with smirking villain vibes has me on a chokehold.
Suddenly I remembered that I have to go through deep academic stress for mid-2024 to arrive.
Tumblr media
Huh.
Until next time.

was it ever even confirmed like is it even canon that jung ui-myeong is seo yi-kyung's fiancé nam sang-won? like did they ever say that? google is mighty sure of itself on that front. like, nam sang-won was one of the first infectees, and he did volunteer himself for the experiment, and he is the pale basically dead body in the tank, but there's nothing that says that body is ui-myeong's old one, is there? ui-myeong was also one of the first infectees and volunteered himself for the experiment, and he refers to the body as his old friend..? like, as in some body (haha) that he used to know, or like his body that he used to own? google is so sure of itself but i didn't ever make that connection. also when ui-myeong meets yi-kyung in s1 he clearly doesn't recognise her, despite clearly still retaining all his memories of what happened in the lab and probably before it too... it's probably he just didn't care, but still
riddle me this
