It occurs to me that maybe the dragon scales weren't just used for coloration but perhaps to harden the scars to make them harder to reopen. Kinda like a broken bone healing stronger along the fracture line. Hence with less dragons the art of Kintsugi became saved for special occasions among the Sun Warriors rather than every single scar(obviously no one but royals was doing this anyways but it became more of consideration if a scar was worthy of being sealed after) since one of the main purposes can't be fulfilled with a half made mixture that still comes out red and helps with the healing (which also begs the question if the way kintsugi is made was/is used to figure out healing ointments), but doesn't harden the skin in the same way. Or would they still seal the other scars and those ones just look... flatter than the proper ones?
It would also be interesting if different color scales give different sheens to the kintsugi so a blue dragon's scales might still look mainly red due to other ingredients, but there's a blue ting/reflection to the scar. Did sharing a sheen with family or your dragon used to be a sign of pride? Was having a red dragon's sheen seen as basic?
I think Zuko wouldn't ask for it, but I can see the Sun Warriors deciding to give him a small amount of the full powder, and instructions for how to mix it. Zuko debating if he should refuse it, given his ancestors, but Aang is the one to convince him to keep it. Even though the only body modification air nomads practiced were the tattoos, he still sees the beauty and significance of such a gift (later Zuko is thankful he convinced him).
Mixing Kintsugi with the assassination post you re blogged, it'd be funny if the reason Zuko ends up with bronze is due to an attempt while he's traveling for negotiations and the healer is grumbling about stupid teenagers always refusing to stay away from fights (a healee who has had to deal with gaang or Kyoshi warriors in the past... or even jet lol) and seals his wounds, without even thinking about the fact he's FN and not one of his Kyoshi guards, given the size of it and how well he fought. The warriors on duty think it's hilarious and no one ever mentions it to the healer in question. Suki immediately rats him out at the next gaang meet up.
While I do think that Toph probably wouldn't end up with any, at least not pre series (although the idea of her goading Katara into healing a future scar with silver in the future is funny especially since she can't tell the difference by color(but maybe by texture/weight???) does rotate in my head), I do think that Suki probably has one or two wounds sealed in bronze before the show. Sokka is both jealous (since I believed you mentioned his fishhooks didn't seal properly) and enthralled by her scars given they're probably the first ones he sees not sealed in the water tribe fashion (at least on a ally). Suki in the FN would kind of be a reflection of Zuko's path in this au given I'm sure she ends up with the opportunity to have a wound sealed in gold given how often she has to defend Zuko's life. I assume at that point the healers have different kinds in the med wing so she could choose bronze or none at all, but she's given the choice given her job is seen as sacred to the FN.
Azula definitely has all scars up til her breakdown sealed that way, but it'd be fascinating to know if she got injured and refused it during the Agni Kai. Would she refuse the dragon ruby at that time? Would Zuko offer the small amount he has to be split? After finding Ursa (if she's still alive) and healing that part of her past, does she accept it for her next wound? Would she follow in Zuko's footsteps and mix the different colors on her scars? Would she be too worried in being a copycat, or does she argue she deserves to have scars as widely traveled as she is? Or does she stick with the color of the spirit she's trying to live up to?
On the idea of different patterns and colors I do think that ruby, gold, bronze and silver probably stay the traditional colors to their respective cultures, but I do think it would be funny for a duo like Ty Lee and Sokka to accidentally on purpose create pink Kintsugi and Mai deadpans that he has to figure out obsidian now. While some embrace the different colors, I imagine some find the toying around with the Art form disrespectful (Zuko would like to stop being interviewed about this, he has enough on his plate with his mountains of paper work and he doesn't have an answer) and others say that it's the nature of healing and art to change over time.
I know you didn't mention parents in your tags but I can't help thinking about the parents/mentors of the gaang. Gyatso, Poppy and Lao would likely not spring for any form of Kintsugi, with Gyatso having much different reasons than the other two but still arriving to the same conclusion. Ozai had every wound sealed with it up to a ridiculous degree even for royalty, until he was imprisoned and after that I doubt anyone would be sealing his wounds given he scarred their teenage Fire Lord.
Iroh probably had every wound up to Lu Ten died sealed, but would he refuse it after that? Or what about Zuko's scarring? Does he ever accept it again after he helps liberate Ba Sing Se? Or does he see his former path as a shame he has to work the rest of his life to undo? Or is it him being influenced by other nations philosophies in a different way than Zuko is. Was he offered the powder from the Sun Warriors? So many questions swirl around him.
Ursa... oh poor Ursa. Up until her forced marriage I doubt her family had the money to participate in Kintsugi, and beyond that I doubt she had any scars that were that major. After her marriage... well then comes the question of if she wanted to. Or did Ozai force her to? Did he forbid her from sealing any scars she had gotten from him (mirroring his treatment of Zuko) and only allow sealing of scars caused from other sources? Was she looked down upon for not having sealed scars in court or did it make her seem more human to lower nobles? After her banishment if she chose to keep her memories does she ever seal another scar? Or does she choose to forget and worry at the few scars that were sealed, both confused and distressed by them? Does she lie to Kiyi or not even discuss them. And what does she do when Zuko returns, both more and less like the boy she remembers (if she even remembers) than she could of guessed? Ursa is just such compelling character, I think about her all the time. She just spins in my head non stop.
Moving to Kya, while we aren't shown her as being a warrior, the fact Hakoda sealed his daughter's scar makes me think that it's not that rare for women to have silver kintsugi, especially if the scar was received in defense of their family or during a raid. The men likely have more in general just given that they're more likely to receive scars by the time canon rolls around and all the water benders are gone including a good chunk of their women warriors, if not all of them. All of that to say I think the idea of Katara and Sokka tracing a scar Kya had sealed, and then that being reflected in Katara holding her own scar close as a memory of the women in her family and their strength is just... so good.
Hakoda definitely has the silver form, but it'd be interesting if he ever ends up in a situation where he's offered another form of kintsugi after the war ends. Was Bato offered the bronze form at the Abbey (they don't seem rich, but they also seem to run a successful business enough to support their healing efforts and the Abbey's needs so it's possible they could offer a small amount)? Did the southern warriors have their own silver form among their supplies? It'd be fascinating if Bato was one of the first in the story to have mixed kintsugi with some of his wound being bronze to fill in around the gaps the silver left (given how massive his wound is I doubt they'd have enough among the southern fleet supplies). The SWT really reflect the adaptability of water and so it wouldn't surprise me if they wouldn't balk at receiving the bronze form of kintsugi given they're allied with the EK.
On that note of adaptability, the idea of Sokka presenting a tired Zuko to Hakoda and being like "Katara adopted him no take backs I guess" while motioning at his chest scar and Katara scowls him in the background, being the first thing he does upon reuniting with his dad after the war makes me crack up. Hakoda just sighs and accepts this as his life now (and he wouldn't change it no matter how tiring all three (four?) of his kids are).
-kintsugi anon
My love, you have absolutely no idea of how much this means to me. Seriously. You don't.
I love your ideas so much!
I like to think that the Sun Warriors' philosophy relies a lot on balance and duality, given the very nature of fire itself. Kintsugi being used only for very important and significant scars (perhaps even a coming of age ritual of sorts?) is such an amazing fit because celebrating bravery and honor while also respecting natural scars feels like something they'd believe in.
Kintsugi color varying depending on the dragon each scale comes from is also beautiful! Would they believe that gaining a scar from a specific dragon creates a connection between the human and the beast? That some of the dragon's power and personality will carry over to the Warrior?
Are Kintsugi scars even more precious between a bonded pair of human and dragon? Imagining Zuko sealing some of his scars with Druk's shed scales makes shivers run down my spine.
And talking about Zuko—I'm in love with the idea of the Kyoshi Warriors giving him bronze Kintsugi after a particularly nasty assassination attempt.
I think bronze Kintsugi powder/mixture is something Suki would keep near at all times, given how battle-ready and honour-bound the Kyoshi Warriors are. She'd appreciate her scars but not fret whenever she can't seal a wound with Kintsugi—the scar-sealing rage comes mostly from the Fire Nation, and Suki's too pragmatic to care about natural scarring.
As for Toph, she'd probably find Kintsugi fascinating. Much like rebelling and running away from home, Kintsugi becomes another way to escape her parents' views and hold on her life. It would be so cute if she'd insist on getting most of her wounds sealed by all kinds of Kintsugi after she meets the Gaang.
It becomes her way of bonding with them, since she loves to feel the different textures and weight of material. Other than Zuko, she's the first member of the Gaang to start collecting Kintsugi scars in all sizes, colors, and shapes.
As for Azula—what if instead of refusing Kintsugi after the Agni Kai, there's a medical reason she can't get them? Most of her injuries are internal anyway, and this impossibility of healing as she was used to (no longer beautiful, no longer perfect) could be another factor that contributes to her breakdown.
I like to think that Azula would actually be the one character who has less scars, other than Never-Have-I-Ever-Gone-Into-The-Frontlines Fire Lord Ozai. While having plenty of scars sealed with gold is a sign of status in the Fire Nation, having little to no scars just serves to flaunt her own status as a prodigy.
The Perfect Princess.
I don't think she'd ever stray from gold, even post-redemption. Instead she'd learn to accept natural scars as part of her, as something that doesn't make her broken or imperfect—just human.
Ty Lee, Mai, and Sokka figuring out how to color Kintsugi is so precious! They'd be absolutely insufferable once they make a breakthrough, baffling everyone with their multi-colored scars.
As for Iroh...oh, boy, that hurts.
Perhaps he swears off Kintsugi after Lu Ten's death, and while he accepts his mistakes and has worked to be better by the end of canon, I don't know if he'd still wish to accept Kintsugi. But, to be honest, Iroh is such a deeply complex character that any option would fit him. What do you think? What's the best choice for him?
Ozai forbidding Ursa from sealing any scar with Kintsugi is manipulative, psychologically abusive, demeaning, and absolutely something he'd do. I love that backstory for her so much because—may Agni forgive me—angst is my lifeblood.
If that's the case, then she'd probably get her first Kintsugi scar with Zuko right by her side.
But I digress.
I. LOVE. THAT. FOR. THE. WOMEN. OF. THE. SOUTH!!!
It's literally so amazing and fitting and right.
No words. Absolute perfection.
In conclusion: Bato is definitely the first character presented to us who has mixed Kintsugi, that scene with Zuko and Hakoda has now invaded my mind, and I am bowing before you in awe.
Thank you so much for the time, interest, and love!!! ❤️

This is absolutely nothing to do with the Netflix show I haven’t even watched that thing but I’m once again thinking about Sokka and Sokkas Master again and going insane.
Especially with how Sokka was never supposed to be a warrior. Like fundamentally he’s just not built for that kind of life. He was born into war and has been basically been told and trained to believe that one day he is going to die for his tribe and especially for his sister and that’s his destiny and he’s like okay that’s my job that’s what I do and everyone in the tribe knows this and sees this as my role as I am the only man left. (I sincerely doubt a bunch of woman and old people were actually looking at this kid as the last warrior seriously until he went to fight the fire nation BY HIMSELF but that’s not the point, the point is he was doing it)
But but the thing about Sokka is he’s not a fighter, he’s a scholar to his core. He doesn’t win hand to hand against Zuko but he does get a hit in with his boomerang that takes an insane amount of math to do perfectly and even though he loses the fight we realise already that Sokka is coming at this war from a different angle that anyone else is.
Like Sokka knows when he joins Aang he doesn’t have as much to bring to the team, he basically assigns himself the role of provider and bodyguard and is now willing to die for both of them because they are two of the most important people in the world and he could have been cynical the entire time. He was prepared to be cynical. Until he goes to Kyoshi gets his shit rocked by a girl and is like oh damn there’s different ways to go about fighting and war and I actually don’t know a lot of it can you super pretty warrior lady teach me your ways and from that moment on Sokka becomes a student.
He gets the mark of the wise with Bato, he figures out how to get Katara on that prison ship and that the fortune teller is a hoax and gets the water bending scroll all through thinking things through not fighting them head on. He invents the fricken war ballon and it’s so clear that all his thinking is now coming at things from an angle no one expects which is so perfect for this war in particular considering it’s been basically a slow tug of war between the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation for decades. He’s looking at these things and he’s like hey I’m not a bender but I do know how benders think and how a lot of people think because I’m trying to figure out how the world works. Like by the time he gets to North he isn’t as great with the weapons because again HES NOT A FIGHTER AT HEART but he is a thinker and he points out all the holes in the Norths strategy with full confidence.
Like in book 2 all his thoughts are about winning and out thinking the enemy. He learns about the library and gets so genuine excited about it but he can’t be a true nerd cause of his responsibilities but he basically plans a way to win the war, learns haikus, try’s art, gets into wrestling and learns so much about other cultures and skills he’s always thinking and winning and no longer doing things on impulse.
But of course he still feels insecure about that and doesn’t see his brain as his true weapon because he was supposed to be the warrior. That’s his role.
So he goes to Piandao who sees all of that and sees how Sokka is so so smart and eager to learn and think in ways that no one expects and he nurtures that. He teaches him art and calligraphy and gives him a Jian! He gives Sokka a Jian "The Gentleman of Weapons" not Dao even though Dao are made for soilders and Jian are for scholars, nobels and people who have time for proper sword craft. (Not to mention the fact they are primarily used for Tai Chi which is also the base for water bending which is just a detail I love). Like the Jian is a sword for scholars it’s for scholars!!!
Sokkas a thinker not a fighter and that’s so amazing to me.
Like he starts as the boy that took on a fire nation ship by himself then ends the series as the guy who’s strategies won the war, a trusted advisor for basically anyone of importance because they know he’s smart and are willing to listen to his ideas and with such a happy future for him to grow without the weight of having to be a fighter weighing him down cause that’s not who he’s supposed to be.

Comments on Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender
*spoiler alert*
First of all I'm gonna start by saying it is one of the best adaptations I've seen so far. And that's the key word, adaptation. I've seen a lot of fans and others complain about some things that honestly, doesn't make sense because some things only work in a cartoon(just as much as some things only work in a book or a video game)
And before I start to talk about some topics that I judge important, I also wanna say that the production is fantastic, from the costumes to the CGI. It all looks amazing. (A part from Yue's wig)
1. The Script
It's not easy to pick 20+ episodes and make it fit in only 8 but damn they did a hell of a good job, especially when judging what was important to show and what they could let it go. Some fans commented that since there's no fillers, the Gaang and others miss some development but I think that for the universe of the live action what we got here it worked.
I can express how much I like to see Ozai and Azula's relationship and how it is now clear that he uses the siblings against each other, manipulating them to get what he wants. But I will admit I miss the fear Azula had, since it's implied in the show and some extras that she does fear Ozai, and fears becoming like Zuko.
I hope the 41. Is just fine after the battle in the north. See all of them bowing to Zuko after discovering that Zuko was the one that saved their asses and was heavily punished by that...it was beautiful. I loved the writers did that, give names and faces to Zuko's crew and a beautiful yet sad arc when Ozai banished his son and the men who he saved.
I also loved that they put weight into things that was treated as a joke, like Katara talking about her mother. She was a little kid who saw her mom get murdered in front of her and the live action made sure to let us know that it is not okay to make jokes about something so traumatic. All of the deaths here have tons of weight in it, it's not some random person, is someone we met, someone we liked, someone who helped. The costs of the war, something the cartoon manages to show us but know in live action, with real people, the massage gets stronger.
And they didn't forget Iroh's past like the fandom does, which is great. That actor, the earthbending soldier really let it all out, that's how you use the few screentime you have.
Sokka's isn't sexist and y'all were making a storm outta a cup of water, is not like Sokka sexist didn't go away after like the 4 or 5 episode in the original show. I think the live action was able to bring more depth to him in comparison to the first season of the cartoon. We see how he feels about his father's, the absence of him and his duty as warrior who kinda doesn't want to be a warrior.
I need a Gyatso in my life, I didn't know I needed to see more of him until the live action gave us more of him. Kyoshi was the Thor coming to Wakanda from this season, WHY THE FUCK BRYKE DONT WANNA GIVE US A KYOSHI SERIES? She is absolutely a jewel of a character. Roku and Kuruk, damn poor Kuruk man, so much pain in his words but again that's what it means to be the Avatar, it's not fun and games. Zhao saying to Aang what Korra villains said to Korra😭 that the world doesn't need the Avatar anymore, it hurt.
Guys I'm gonna say it, there's no way in hell for anyone to ship Kataang here. I'm saying this because some shippers complain that the secret tunnel part was different but c'mon, look at Kiawentiio and look at Gordon, it would be so s awkward and weird and just wrong. I know they don't have a big age difference, is only like 3 years but when they filmed Gordon looked so much younger than her, maybe in the next seasons the difference won't be that big.
The pace is good, once you start you don't wanna stop.
2. The Acting
Everyone is really good at capturing the essence of it's characters and somewhat making them their own. The highlights for me were Dallas and Ian, Its like they came straight from the show. Ken Leung's Zhao was also amazing as he was way more threatening here than he was in the show.
Kiawentiio was the Katara we were looking for, she is kind yet strong, brave and caring. And Gordon was Aang, sure, he has to learn a few things since he slipped a few times in his acting but nothing that could ruin the experience, that kid is good and just needs some experience.
Elizabeth Yu was Azula. It was different but yet the same character, is like learning something new of her and I like how cleared she show emotions with her eyes. Maria Zhang had great chemistry with Ian and I can't wait to see more of Suki. Arden Cho and Yvonne Chapman as June and Avatar Kyoshi look like they came out straight from the cartoon. Daniel Dae Kim...man is Ozai, so cold, so sharp, so scary, already way better than the cartoon version. I wanna see more of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh since the character he really starts to shine in book 2.
3. The live action doesn't have the spirit of the OG?
Yes, it does have. The thing is now that we are seeing real people, things get dark one way or another but I don't think it ruined the spirit of the show. Aang is still a kid, Sokka still making sarcastic jokes, Zuko still annoying as hell, Katara still hopeful and strong... There's everything there really.
The thing is stuff like genocide, murder, war, death and suffering are, for some people, better to watch as pixels in a cartoon than real people.
I think it's a great adaptation and I would recommend it to every fan.

Ooo! New prompts. What bout zukka with "Where's my good night kiss?"❤️❤️❤️
Sokka is trying so hard to be quiet, he barely even breathes until he’s made it back to his room in the Fire Nation palace, closing the door and finally inhaling.
"Where's my goodnight kiss?"
He lets out a very manly squeak, his arm automatically reaching for his boomerang before realizing 1) it's just Toph and 2) he must have left it back in Zuko's rooms.
"Fuck you," Sokka says once Toph is done laughing at him, his heart still racing. "What the fuck?"
"That's what I was about to ask you. Where have you been? I came here to for something like an hour ago and have been waiting ever since."
"What did you want?"
"You think I remember?" Toph asks, annoyed. "What were you even doing?"
"You're not my mom," Sokka responds, flicking her on the forehead as he walks over to his bedside table to reach for the lamp and get some light in the room.
Toph punches him in the arm in retaliation. "You're a weirdo. Sneaking around the palace in the middle of the night, someone is going to think you're an assassin. I should report you to the guards."
"Are you done? I'm ready to go to bed now, get out of my room. Ugh, did you even wash your feet before putting them on my bed?"
"Nope," Toph beams, rubbing her feet into the sheets even more, and Sokka swears under his breath. "Come on, I'm nosy, just tell me."
"I was working," Sokka says carefully. It's not a lie, he was working...before Zuko found him in his study and pulled him back to his rooms until they realized it would be pretty suspicious if they happened to be caught in the same room in the morning while their friends were visiting.
Toph is quiet for a moment, and for a second Sokka thinks she detected a lie, but she just smirks. "Oh, is that what the kids are calling it these days?"
"What are you talking about?" Sokka mutters, walking over to the bathroom and brushing his hair out. He's lucky she can't see how disheveled it is, nor can she notice the new mark on his collarbone.
"You've been here for a few months, don't tell me you haven't gotten laid this whole time?" she asks bluntly.
"Toph," he starts, more annoyed than scandalized. He steps out of the bathroom and stands near his bed, facing her with his arms crossed.
"Who is it? Ooh, one of the Kyoshi Warriors?"
"Absolutely not."
"Or maybe one of the cooks? I'm certain the way to your heart is through your stomach."
"Toph--"
"Or is it true what Aang and Katara say about you and the Fire Lord giving each other obnoxious heart eyes all the time?" she asks gleefully. "I bet that's it, you're sneaking around just so no one finds out about the scandal of the century."
He freezes, and after several seconds of silence he realizes it's too late to try and deflect, and he definitely can't cover with a lie. "You can't tell anyone."
She freezes too. "Tell anyone what?" she asks slowly, before her eyebrows raise in shock. "I was just fucking with you!" she says, scrambling off the bed and pointing an accusatory finger at Sokka.
He sighs.
"What do you-- gross! Are you kidding me? You and...oh, shit, I can't believe you just made me think about that. Bleh!"
"I didn't do anything! You wouldn't leave me alone!" Sokka says.
"Who else knows?" she snaps.
"Iroh figured it out, so just him," Sokka sighs.
Toph waits expectantly. "That's it? Not even Aang and Katara?"
"No!"
"This is the best gossip of my life! And I can't even brag to them about finding out first!" Toph groans.
"You're going to let them and the whole palace know if you don't shut up!" Sokka hisses.
Toph scoffs. "Whatever. I'm out of here anyway."
"Where are you going?" Sokka asks.
"Where do you think? I'm going to go yell at Zuko for keeping this from me," Toph says.

A Precariously Stacked Pile of Random Season 2 Thoughts
These are notes I took as I watched the season. Usually after I’d already posted about the episode in question, and I thought of something I would have added to the post. Rather than edit them into my posts, I’m rounding them up and posting them all at once. As such, they are vaguely chronological. Unfortunately, because I made the notes legible to me and me only, I didn't bother to write down what episode I was referring to. I've also added some notes in as I was editing these notes. So this is also a bit of a scavenger hunt. Enjoy!
Iroh poisoning himself: dumbass moment or 5D chess?
My autocorrect corrects “Sokka” to Sock, and “Sokka’s” to socks. This causes double takes when editing.
Badgermoles have excellent eyeliner. Is that where the Kyoshi Warriors get their jaw dropping cat eye?
Why is Ty Lee spelled Ty Lee and not Tai Li? Why is Dai Li spelled Dai Li and not Dy Lee?
Sometimes Sokka makes me think of Mulan. Am I crazy?
Are the swampbenders’ moves based on a real martial art style too?
Why didn’t Aang use his swamp sense to locate Appa post-appanapping?
Where did Toph, who spent her whole life as a prisoner of her parents’ house and a moonlighting WWE wrestler until Team Avatar busted her out, get such emotional intelligence?
Why did Zuko’s dad put forward the plan to disinherit Iron in favour of him less than 24 hours after Lu Ten’s death? Why did he think that moving quickly was the right approach? Does the Fire Nation not do grieving periods? In what world was 'strike while the iron is hot' the correct course of action here?
Looking back, I’m amazed that season 2 didn’t end in Zuko’s redemption. I didn’t much like Zuko Alone, but I was sure that a season that included that much set up for a Zuko redemption arc would prioritise finishing that arc.
I haven’t even met this Firelord guy yet, but I am peeved that that twerp has a name as cool as Ozai.
Why haven't I met that Firelord guy yet?
I really thought that the older brother character in Zuko Alone would make an appearance later on in the season, giving Zuko a chance to flex some newly acquired morals. But the parallel to Lu Ten and the general message about the evils of war lands better if we never hear of him again.
Zuko in the first half of season 2 had me so annoyed that I was incredibly uncharitable to him in my write ups. Reading through some of the stuff I wrote while watching episodes, I kind of wince now. Zuko in the second half of the season was much less annoying. Which I feel bad for saying, because he’s clearly not in a good place in the second half of the season.
I would love to know why the writers decided to have Toph and Iroh meet in the wilderness. I think it’s a good choice, but I want to know how they came up with it, and why those characters? Is there anything about Toph (especially at that point, when we’ve known her for 1 episode) that suggests that she and Iroh should meet? Or would get along if they did?
Zuko has so many rock bottom fake outs this season: Zuko Alone? Nope, he gets worse in The Chase. The Chase? Nope, he gets worse in Bitter Work. Bitter Work? Nope, he gets worse in the finale.
I’m still peeved that Azula won a 6 on 1 showdown. Sorry, but that breaks immersion.
I bet the Blue Spirit could make lightning.
If water is the element of change, why does the Northern Water Tribe have such strictly defined traditions? I get that it's literally the element of change, in that water can exist in different physical states, but shouldn't the metaphorical interpretation also be true?
I like that Toph can think like an Airbender sooner than Aang can think like an earthbender.
What is Sokka’s boomerang made of? Is it metal? Because if it’s metal, does that mean that there’s a blacksmith somewhere in the South Pole? With a forge?
I still can’t get over how dumb the whole eclipse plot was.
Tumblr media
Suki is TINY!!!
Tumblr media
I mocked this guy’s 80s aerobics video leotard aesthetic, and I stand by that mockery, because this guy is ugly. Those colours are awful. But do you know who else has those colours?
Tumblr media
Jet this season fascinates me. He’s positioned as genuinely repentant and legitimately seeking a second chance and I don’t believe him for one minute. Why don’t I believe him? This show has a theme of learning from mistakes and doing better, so shouldn’t Jet be a perfect fit for this show’s themes? I should be primed to believe him. And yet I don’t.
I have to applaud Iron’s enthusiasm for their new life in Ba Sing Se. A lot of that cheer (at least before the tea shop) is put on for Zuko’s sake. I don’t know where Iroh gets the energy to keep trying with Zuko after years of minimal results, but I’m glad he does.
I think Aang and Ty Lee should hang out. They have similar circus energy. Or maybe it’s that they’re the only two characters in the show so far who are remotely playful.
Aang = surface silliness, core of calm. Not that the silliness doesn't run deep, but he seems to have an untouchable anchor of calm deep within that rarely gets disturbed. Gyatso raised him well.
~~*~~*~~*~~*~~Poetry bouncer ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~
I need next season to have more Appa & Mono subplots à la their escapades in The Swamp. Not à la Momo’s Tale.
Tales of Ba Sing Se definitive ranking: Momo Aang Sokka Zuko Iroh Katara & Toph
I love that Momo still sleeps in the Momo bag from The Blind Bandit
Are Suki and her warriors sitting in the middle of some Earth Kingdom forest in their underwear?
So are Smellerbee and Longshot just done? Will they be back in season 3? What happens to their life now? They are known associates of an enemy of the state who was just executed. It doesn't look good.
Everyone on this show has big ears. Zuko has the smallest ears simply because he has the least amount of ears remaining. But everyone else? Big ears.
Can I have more Gyatso? I forgot how cool he was. More Guru too please.
Hakodilf.
Everyone in the SWT has such wonderfully fluffy hair.
I like Sokka’s boots. Southern Water Tribe boots in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this is the grand total of the SWT, I have some bad news about population dynamics.
Is there a proper naval term for what the SWT are doing? They’re a stealth strike force that seems to be going after individual enemy ships, using both direct and indirect tactics. Not pirates, because as far as we know they aren't going for FN supplies. They're doing what submarines do, but above water. There’s got to be a proper name for that.
Is there a raft of FN corpses chilling in the waters in front of the NWT's big wall?
I saw ATLA described as a show where all the characters are Asian-inspired people of colour, but isn’t Suki a blue-eyed redhead?
I had no idea that you could decline an Agni Kai. Zuko should have done that.
Why are the Dai Li so in love with Azula? I get that they're pissed with Long Feng for getting arrested, but wouldn't the logical choice be to direct their loyalties to the Earth King rather than a wildcard princess? I'm not going to pretend for a minute that the Dai Li are loyal to the Earth Kingdom or to Ba Sing Se, but the Earth King is a known quantity. Seems to me that it would be easier for them to re-puppetify him, rather than a FN princess.
Katara & Zuko bonding over their missing mothers is the same “makes sense until you think about it for five seconds” as Song & Zuko bonding over losing their fathers to war. Technically the same, sort of, on paper, but actually kind of rude to equate them once you know the full story. Same with the parallel between Lu Ten and the older brother in Zuko Alone. The proper dead mom parallel is Katara and Jet. Although Katara doesn’t object to the Zuko comparison, so I have no grounds to do so.
I’m really glad that Katara didn’t remove Zuko’s scar with her spirit oasis water. Both because she kind of really needed that water, but also because one thing this show has always done right is permanence. No quick fixes, no fake outs, no take backs. Lu Ten is dead, and he stays that way. Princess Yue is the moon, and she stays that way. Half a dozen people’s moms are dead, and they stay that way. Aang is the last Airbender, and he stays that way. Zuko is scarred, and he stays that way. There are no hand waves, no easy fixes. All the characters can do is learn to live with it, and go forward. And I’m grateful the show is like that, because that permanence, as well as being a good lesson to learn, functions as a reward for audience investment.
Aang did come to a crossroads of destiny in the finale, chose his duties to the world over his friends, and got aggressively slapped down for it. I have a feeling that he’ll take the wrong lesson from that, since he was already inclined to shun that path.
Overall Season 1 was prettier.
Ty Lee was the cause of more than one Beat Up Sokka Quota fulfillment this season. Make of that what you will.
Will Zuko & Azula spend season 3 bouncing between the FN and Ba Sing Se? They could be heavily involved with establishing the FN governance over Ba Sing Se, since the city is already inclined towards royalty.
Favourite episode this season? The Guru. The Blind Bandit and The Swamp are tied for second place.

Since the adhd brain refuses to cooperate and let me finish chapter two of A Literal Team Avatar...might as well talk about it instead
Specifically about the Boiling Rock arc
Aka the arc where I get to go full whump writer and torment the beloveds
:3
Kuruk and Roku are gonna get captured after the failed invasion during the eclipse (fpr reasons that I will not spoil)
And they are going to be taken to the Boiling Rock and will be there for about three weeks, maybe a month since that seems like how long that time period was.
That will be the worst time of their new lives
They will be separated almost immediately upon arriving, with Roku being taken to solitary confinement in the freezer (where he will stay for at least like sixty to seventy percent of his time in the prison) while Kuruk is taken deeper into the prison.
Ans the Warden will take EVERY possible precaution to make sure Kuruk cant bend. Because its one thing to hold a powerful firebender, just lock them in the freezer and they cant bend. No problem.
But keeping a WATER bender from bending in a prison that is literally SURROUNDED by water is a much more difficult task.
So Kuruk will be kept in a very hot, very dry room. Dry air will be filtered through at all times, he will be guarded at all times, there will be MULTIPLE locked metal doors before even reaching his cell, and most importantly
He will be heavily restrained.
Hands completely covered in metal cuffs, more restraints on the elbows, knees, and thighs and ankles, even a shackle around his NECK to really keep him as still as physically possible.
Oh did I mention that they will only give him the BARE MINIMUM amount of water needed to keep him from dying of dehydration (like once every five days)
They'll feed him even less.
Anything to keep him weak, prevent any chance of him breaking out.
Because Kuruk is definitely the most dangerous person in the prison and if he got out all hell would break loose
Meanwhile Roku is just gonna be left alone with his thoughts, with his guilt because this was all his fault, it was his fault that they got captured it was his fault that Kuruk was suffering and he was helpless to stop it, hell it was his fault that this entire war was even happening!
Because even thought he's in solitary, in the freezing cold, unable to bend, he's not actively being STARVED to death (even though he's only getting fed a bit more frequently than Kuruk) and being constantly kept on the brink of dehydration and close to heatstroke.
It will be such a relief when Sokka, Zuko and Yangchen come to rescue them and eventually Suki, Sokka's dad, and the other inmate guy whose name I cant remember.
The only reason Kyoshi wasn't allowed to join the rescue mission was because both her mentor and her former pupil being held hostage would make it be an absolute BLOODBATH.
It will still be a mass homicide when Yangchen sees Kuruk in his current state. Jst not as bloody, because she can just make people's lungs collapse, trap them in an airless void or just obliterate them with a close ranged scream.
Kuruk will get to drown people with boiling water, as a treat.
Zuko is gonna realize just how lucky he was that Aang is a pacifist because air nomads can become absolutely terrifying when "all life is sacred" goes out the window.
There will be three chapters before the actual boiling rock arc begins
One when Roku and Kuruk are first brought to the prison.
Another on how they're doing during the Sun Warriors arc
And a final one the night before the rescue trio arrive at the prison.
(The chapters will be titled "No Mind To Think." "No Will To Break." And "No Voice To Cry Suffering." Yes that is a Hollow Knight reference that game is a masterpiece, one of my favorite video games EVER and I cant wait for Silksong so bite me)
Why does this arc have to be so far away :(
Anyways enjoy

A Smile I Will Never See
As they marched in through Kyoshi Island, Zuko was feeling… odd? He couldn’t quite place it, but as he looked around seeing terrified children in barrels, a tiny bit of guilt was creeping up his stomach, making him want to–
Quiet, conscience. Home, Avatar, glory, and destiny first. Existential crisis later. Zuko shook away all thoughts of potential guilt as they marched in with their usual demands:
Hand over the Avatar, and you will be spared.
And, as per usual, they did not oblige.
Zuko should really get used to the opposition.
However, he has no time to dwell on such misery when Kyoshi’s Warriors attack. He is startled, but only for a moment, regaining his composure and fighting them. He takes down two withinn a moment. Another Kyoshi Warrior, this one with different hair and headress, screams in rage and jumps to attack him. Zuko swats her away like a fly.
A single Kyoshi Warrior steps forward, her anger poorly masked. Her hair is brown, and her pretty blue eyes sparkle like the clearest ocean waters–
Zuko is shocked to realize that he finds her pretty.
Time seems to slow a little due to his thoughts.
As he looks at her, he thinks, even though she is frowning, she would look pretty when she smiled. She spreads her fans, a little clumsily, and circles around him. Then she attacks, at Zuko is shaken out of his trance. It pains him, more deeply than it should, but he gives her the same treatment he gave her sisters.
Why was he feeling this anyway? It’s not like he’d ever be on the recieving end of her smile.
Not after what he’s done.
Except when she gians victory over him.
And Zuko doesn’t think he would mind, if that’s what it took.
But Zuko would refuse to allow such a thing.
~*~
After the entire mess with the child-napping spirits that turned out to be led by his sister, his feelings about Mai, and the Water Tribe drama, Zuko was glad for some peace and quiet.
He was also glad to share said peace and quiet with his friend Sokka.
Working with the Kyoshi Warriors had reminded him of something though…
“Sokka,” Zuko says, “You’ve gone to Kyoshi Island before, right?”
“Yeah,” He answers, “Back when you were chasing us, Aang dragged us on a detour to Kyoshi.”
Zuko can’t help but shudder at the reminder of that phase in his life. If always made his think about ponytails and a particularly angsty teenager.
“Well, uh, have you maybe seen a Kyoshi Warrior that–”
“Oooh!” Sokka sang in that teasing and slightly annoying way. “Zuko likes someone form Kyoshi, huh?” Sokka waggles his eyebrows.
“Please shut up before you make me regret asking, Sokka,” Zuko says, even though he already does.
Sokka grins. “Alright, alright. Go on, talk about Mystery Girl.”
“Well,” Zuko says, “She had brown hair tied into a ponytail, and she looked a little clumsy, like she was new to the Warriors. And she had blue eyes, and I thought–”
Zuko continued chattering, talking about how he saw her and such and such, but he stopped when he realized Sokka was absolutely frozen.
“Uh, Sokka?” Zuko asked, concerned. “Did I say something wrong?”
Sokka blinked. Then he rubbed his neck awkwardly. “Zuko, I don’t really know how to tell you this…”
“What?” He asked, fearing the worst. Did something happen to the Kyoshi Warrior?
“I may or may not be the Kyoshi Warrior.” Sokka blurted, a bit to fast for Zuko to understand.
“I– What?”
“I’m the Kyoshi Warrior, okay?!” Sokka practically shouted. “I was an idiot back then, and Suki gave me some Kyoshi Warrior training, and–”
“So, wait… You’re the Kyoshi Warrior?” Zuko asked, still processing.
“That’s what I literally just said!”
Suddenly, Zuko felt an entirely inappropriate laugh bubble up, and he couldn’t stop it. Then Sokka was laughing too, until they were both cackling.
It died down eventually, Sokka’s laughter eventually getting replaced by a grin. “You thought I was pretty, huh?”
Zuko blushed. “Oh, shut up.”
Sokka offered him a teasing smirk, and pulled Zuko closer to him.
And that’s how Zuko found out how bright Sokka’s blue eyes could be.
^~^

I really want to post something, but my brain is being mean to me again and not letting me work on anything so here's a sneak peek of my Zutara Neverland AU.
~
"Painted Lady flew as fast as she could to the small village vexed by the cursed plague. But as soon as she landed, she was surrounded by pirates! The Blind Bandit who can topple entire mountains with one scream. The Kyoshi Warrior; face pale as death and decorated with the blood of children. And the worse of all."
Katara grabbed the toy sword and waved it over her siblings.
"The dread Capitan Zuko! Half of his face mangled and twisted; left hand replaced with the sharpest hook used to carve out your insides!"
Katara lunged again, causing her siblings to squeal. Sokka grabbed the other sword and pointed it at her.
"Oi girlie. We've come for ye Spirit Water!"
"Who are you to order me about and call me girlie?!" Katara countered. "On guard!"
The two engaged in a fierce swordfight as Korra cheered them on.
"Capitan Zuko charged Painted Lady." Katara narrated.
Sokka let out a mighty battle cry and leapt towards her. Katara ducked as he crashed into the book shelf.
"But he wasn't quick enough for the veiled healer!"
"Ye think a couple of books could stop me?!" Sokka stood and let out an evil cackle. "I will have ye yet, Painted Lady!"
"I'll save you!" Korra jumped onto Sokka's back.
"Alas, the Legendary Korra came to Painted Lady's aid at the nick of time!"
Katara laughed as Korra yank Sokka's wolf-tail.
"I got 'em! Go save the children!”
"Nooo! You cannot defeat me!" Sokka roared in a silly voice. "Pirates! Attack!"
Katara readied her sword. "I may be outnumbered, but you're outmatch!"
She jabbed and sliced thin air.
"Suddenly, Captain Zuko escaped the Legendary Korra's grasp!" Sokka tossed the giggling Korra to the bed.
"Just you and me now Painted Lady. I need that Spirit Water to heal me ugly scar!"
"Those sick children need it more! Have you no heart?!"
"Of course I do! Every day with me morning tea!"
"You brute!"
The two engaged in another sword fight as Korra threw pillows at Sokka. He fell dramatically to the floor.
"No! Fluffy pillows! My one weakness!"
Katara pointed her sword at his neck. "It's over Captain Zuko! Give up now or-"
The door slammed open.
"KATARA!"
She winced and dropped the sword.
"What in Tui's name do you think you're doing?!" Pakku demanded.
"Telling a bedtime story." She said innocently.
Pakku glowed. He pointed to Sokka and Korra.
"You two. Bed. Now."
He then grabbed Katara's arm and took her to the study.
"Grandfather-"
"You are 14 years old Katara. <em>Fourteen.</em> In two short years you will be elidable for marriage yet you still behave like a child!"
"I am a child."
"You are a young woman! It's high time you start acting like one!"
"Sokka's the same age but you don't scold him for having fun!"
"Boys mature slower than girls. I'm not discussing this with you again.”
"It's not fair and you know it!"
"Life isn't fair. That's part of becoming an adult."
"Well maybe I don't want to grow up!!!"
Pakku pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Then that settles it. As of tomorrow, you will be moving out of the nursery. And I will enroll you in Harbor City's Finishing school for girls come next semester.”
“What?!”
“I considered holding off, hoping that you would mature naturally, but it’s clear that I was wrong.”
Katara looked at him shocked. Her grandfather often longingly talked about the finishing school but never fully entertained the idea. Until now.
"I thought you said it was too expensive."
"I'll find a way. It will be worth it to stop this destructive path you're on. Think of the example you're setting for Korra."
"There's nothing wrong with-"
"Katara. Enough."
"Why are you so stubborn?!"
"I said enough!"
Pakku raised his hand, making Katara flinch. For a brief second neither of them moved. Pakku’s eyes widened before lowering his hand, shamefaced, and turned his back.
"You're dismissed."
Katara's shock melted into anger as she glared at her grandfather.
"I hate you."
She turned on her heels and left in a huff. Hot tears poured down her face as Katara returned to the nursery. Sokka and Korra were already asleep. Still dazed, Katara sat on the window seal chair and gazed out the window. Grandfather was strict, but he had never so much as touched any of them before. Katara balled up her shaking fists. He was worse than Captain Zuko and the pirates. Katara covered her mouth to stifle her sobs. If only Neverland was real. She would go there and never ever come back.
Something tapped her window. Katara ignored it, assuming it was a bird or branch in the wind, until it happened again. She glanced up and saw a boy smiling at her. Katara gasped and stumbled back. The boy was floating in mid-air!
"Why are you crying?" He asked curiously. "Did Painted Lady not save the children in time?"
"What? No." Katara wiped her eyes. "Because my grandfather is making me move away so I can grow up."
The boy scrunched up his face. "Gross. Good thing I don't!"
"Are you from Neverland?"
'Yep!" He did a flip in the air. "I can take you there if you want."
"Really?!"
"Yeah it's easy! All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust!" The boy looked around him. "Hey where she'd go?! Meng!"
A soft pink light buzzed up to Katara. She gasped at the tiny winged creature.
“A fairy!”
Katara held out her finger for Meng to land on. The small fairy bit her instead.
“Ow!”
The boy laughed. “Gotta be careful with fairies. They can get a little feisty.”
“No kidding.” Katara sucked her finger. It really did hurt.
Meng crossed her arms and yelled at her. Katara only heard tiny chimes.
“What did she say?”
“Uh, that you’re really pretty.” He blushed.
“O-Oh. Thank you.”
Meng rolled her eyes and flew into the room, waking Sokka and Korra up.
"Hey what's going on...?" Sokka trailed off when he saw the boy in the window.
"Sokka look!" Korra tugged his arm and pointed at the light. "It's a fairy!"
"What the- Who are you?!"
Katara looked at the boy. "Yes, who are you?"
The boy flew through the window and stood proudly on the bed frame.
"I am Aang the Airbender!" He proclaimed with his hands on his hips. "Here to take you all to Neverland!"
The children perked up. "Neverland?! It's real?"
"Real as sin and twice as fun! Who wants to come?!"
All three siblings cheered. Aang grinned.
"Alright! Away we go!!!"

also (i have many questions) any suki-specific headcanons post-finale? (can be zukki of COURSE) but what cool stuff does she get up to?
So we see that Suki goes to the Fire Nation to help protect Zuko. Cool okay, love that.
We see a lot then that people kind of accept that as her permanent job which DOESNT MAKE SENSE to me because she’s a KYOSHI warrior like she’s def there to help until things die down but that’s not where her duty lies.
Also it kind of takes away Suki’s agency? And gives me the ick. Like here’s this strong capable warrior character but now she’s just Zuko’s bodyguard.
I LIKE Suki in the Fire Nation for the same reason I like Sokka in the Fire Nation. They’re kids who have Seen Too Much and Need A Break.
Now with my Zukki glasses on, this is very convenient to me.
I think she comes to the Fire Nation as a Kyoshi Warrior to protect Zuko, sure, but Sokka’s also there. Then she falls in love with the Fire Nation and its people first, then falls more in love with Sokka next, then starts developing feelings for Zuko.
When it’s time for the Kyoshi Warriors to go home, she faces the hardest choice of her life. With a LOT of guidance and support from Sokka and Zuko she decides to step down as leader of the Kyoshi Warriors.
Shocking, right?
That’s her whole identity.
But it was her only identity. It was who she needed to be during a time of war, a role she filled to protect her people. But the war is over now and she needs to heal, and find her identity outside of that. She will always be a Warrior of Kyoshi, but that’s a chapter in her life she needs to end to move on. And like Sokka, she feels she needs to distance herself from her home to do that.
So she stays at the palace with Zuko and Sokka and kind of drifts for a bit. She helps out with security and training, but finds herself still falling on old ways and habits. Sokka says it’s not healthy, but funnily enough doesn’t listen to Suki when she tells him about the unhealthy things that she does.
But then she slowly falls into her new role in the education ministry, finding that her passion is for helping young girls to get the education they deserve and empowering them to follow their dreams. Soon enough she’s the Education Minister. And very happy and fulfilled. I love that for her.

so…that avatar show, huh?
me no likely:
they made aang leaving an accident. like he didn't deliberately try to run away from his problems, it was just coincidence on a midnight fly and he even says he will go back when he clears his head (then everyone else frames it as intentional??? Even himself???)
Kataras character literally feels like her ember island counterpart and made her perfect and I hate that she doesn't get mad at aang talent at all because she can't be TOO MEAN NOOO WHATEVER WILL WE DO IF SHE HAS FLAWS??? OR A REALISTIC REACTION TO FRUSTRATION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DO SOMETHING SHE VALUES A LOT CUZ ITS HARD??? (took away all of her development about having to be the bigger person and gave it to sokka??? Fun loving joking sokka??? Even tho it ties in with her toph conflict later?)
jet blows up things with jelly and hurt civilians but…the entire point of jet was that he hurt people who did nothing wrong and there was definitely fire benders doing something wrong so he can justify his actions?? And the entire point was that he needed to REALIZE his actions were unforgivable before moving on from his vengeance to ba sing se?But now he does nothing wrong because we can't have the pretty boy terrorist be TO00000 BAD
i get that we are supposed to emphasize the power of friendship thing in the bumi episode but it just seems like instead of aang realizing he is going to make hard choices with no right answer his friends take that decision/responsibility AWAY from him? And the point in the show is that while he cant rely on others and has to do it alone???
azula sounds like she's complaining about zuko like a normal teenager gossiping to her friends even tho her entire beach episode was emphasizing how she is NOT A REGULAR KID AND DOESNT ACT LIKE IT. Or being mad zuko got banished and got himself an opportunity? No azula only cares about her dads orders/approval at this point she doesn't take zuko seriously as a threat? She was glad he was gone and tried to take him prisoner? Complaining that she is "risking her life undercover?" Did we watch??? The same source material???
would have been so easy to show badger moles and benders but noooo lets just make them savage animals that don't react to VIBRATIONS AT ALL ya know THE EARTHBENDING TECHNIQUE
why the hell is kyoshi getting mad at aang for not fighting WHEN SHE IS TRAPPING HIM IN A DREAM TO LECTURE HIM INSTEAD OF LETTING HIM FIGHT??
Good!
Never recovering from zuko and leaves on the vine playing at the same time
at least sokka got some development?? It could have been worse tbh
I like that they explained the avatar possession stuff can only happen in certain places
my cabbages made everything worth it
giving iroh and lu ten a bit more depth! I like that everyone subtly framed it in a good way but zuko was more empathetic
im a mixed bag on how they handled suki (great to show that she is unsociable from being an isolated warrior all her life but I hated that they just…beat up sokka for no reason by taking out his misogyny arc…. And didn’t frame it as a bad enough thing?? And then they just… got over it? With no real apology? Cuz it’s fine now that they think the other one is hot!! Problems solved!!!)
i like that they made jet and kataras relationship less “ooooo hot bad boy!!!” And more a mutual relationship (then they threw it out the window for no reason cuz JET IS BAD BUT NOT TOO BAD! KATARA NEEDS TO GIRLBOSS!!!! U guys can make empathic characters while still making them bad not giving him misogyny problems he never had???)
sokka and katara sibling moments? They were okay
(I’ll update when I watch more)

Literacy: semi-lit and up
Fandom: (* indicates high desire) hunger games, percy jackson series (through Burning Maze), avatar the last airbender (and associated universe), *the dragon prince*, also open to nonfandom
Pair: for fandoms i pretty much only do cc x cc, for nonfandom I have female and non-binary ocs with the full range of attraction for pairings
Character(s): I am also happy to play other characters on the side
Hunger Games: Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, Annie
Percy Jackson: Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Nico (note: I headcanon him as ftm trans), Bianca, Reyna
A:TLA+: Katara, Zuko, Azula, Toph, Yue, Sokka, Ty Lee, Suki, Korra, Asami, Kyoshi, Rangi, Mai Emi (my singular oc)
Dragon Prince: Callum, Rayla, Claudia, Terry
Ship(s):
Hunger Games: katniss x peeta, finnick x annie
Percy Jackson: percy x annabeth, jason x piper, nico x will, jason x reyna, nico x reyna (queerplatonic)
ATLA+: Just about any combination of characters that isn't creepy
Dragon Prince: Callum x Rayla, Claudia x Terry
Triggers: pretty much my only rule is no smut
Genres: romance, drama, slice of life, light fantasy
Plot ideas: in general with fandoms I like picking up where the series left off and continuing the story, I don't like rping over things the creators produced with a few exceptions. I am also a sucker for domestic fluff. I do have some nonfandom oc plots, and am open to ideas, so dm for details
Specific Plots (or at least jumping off points)
Dragon Prince---Rayla gets hurt when the mountain collapses at the end of s4, hurt/comfort ensues and also resolving the whole aaravos part (dw I have a plan)
Hunger Games---finnick survives. that's it that's the plot
A:TLA+---au where Mai is mtf trans, and after the Search comic Zuko seeks her out to offer to take her to the Mother of Faces to see if she would be willing to help Mai transition
A:TLA+---five years after her death, Yue reappears at the South Pole with no memories. Sokka has to reevealuate his entire life choices. Obv a Sokka x Yue plot but ofc Suki will also be a part of it
A:TLA+---Aang and Katara break up about the same time Mai and Zuko break up, and Zuko and Katara bond over it and eventually end up together
A:TLA+---Sokka and Suki struggle with long distance, and eventually decide to split. When Zuko is struggling with assassination attempts, he asks the Kyoshi Warriors to be his bodyguards. He and Sokka have a budding romance, as do Suki and Ty Lee, but one thing leads to another and Sokka and Suki spend one last night together. They put it out of their minds until Suki finds out she's pregnant.
Where: I prefer to use discord, but I'd rather not give it out until we've agreed on an rp, so dm me here first.

My question is are there any aspects of the series you wish where better explained or elaborated on? EX: Azula's whereabouts in LOK, if Sokka had kids, the flora and fauna etc
18. Yes. I hold grudges for life. Once I’m wronged in such a painful way, I’ll never forgive and forget. You have me once and no second time. I don’t do second chances. I’m very rigid regarding this. But, ey, it takes a LOT to rub me the wrong way to a point where there’s no return. I like to think I’m easygoing and a little dumb.
19. I would’ve liked to see the Southern Water Tribe develop differently… That they would’ve embraced their spiritual customs once more during the restoration with the help of the Northern Water Tribe. And there are more things...
And I want to know if Sokka and Suki ended up together or not, just like Zuko and Mai. I think as much since Izumi is said to look just like her mother (at least I read that somewhere once). WHY DOESN’T BUMI HAVE A KIDDO?! He’s great dad material! Give Kya a lovely girlfriend to travel the world with! Pfft. I want to see Aang and Katara as parents together. Oh! And why did they give Iroh a baby sister but never show what she looks like?! Let her come alive in the comic already! Also, Bumi and Iroh's shenanigans. I need to see these men interact! How the hell did Sokka die? As for Azula… I hope in the end, after a lot of therapy, she could still live a fulfilled life despite the demons she carried with her. So, yeah, that’s something I’d like to know. Give me more Water Tribe shit! I’m always hungry for more…! Also, I can’t wait for the new comic coming out where Mako goes to visit the Fire Nation. I wonder how the locals dress. How the country looks like in modern day. MHMMM! Yes. Also, what happened to the Kyoshi warriors? Are they still serving the Fire Nation? I mean, I can continue with asking questions at this point.

This is what I mean with the cookie-cutter perfect main protagonist. We fell in love with those characters because they had flaws like us, but managed to evolve and grow in a positiv way that both benefitted themselves and the others in their life.
I want to see a characters that is like me. That has faults and sides that aren't some attraktive; but can show with hard work and a change of both heart and mindset- are able to accomplish the things they set out to do.
Having perfect characters from the starts, doesn't really do much for a show. Why should I follow the "growth" and progress of a character that is already at the goal.
I'm also so against the way tv production make fictional character. They make them spotless. Everything is practically perfect and yet, people finds way to complain about them. We need characters that can grow and people needs to realise that showing bad or negative traits in a character is important for the story building and for the audience. Showing bad traits and how to overcome them is a good thing. If you want a generation that isnt sexist (in this case), you don't show a character that is not. You show what they do and say to overcome that hurdle.
Even as a child, when I first watched ATLA, I was never unsure that sokka was out of line to mock Katara in that way or that is was childish of him to not accept that the kyoshi warriors were all young women that captured them. But it was still important to see that growth in him, because I knew that were negative traits and a bad mindset to have towards women; I wanted to see him overcome it and be better person.
This is why i think "wokeness" ruins remakes and new tv shows. Because, people just can't handle very "human" faults in character. We see this with every Disney remake. With new shows for young adults. Every line and every point of progress is basically spoon fed to the audience, soi there wont the any interpatation of what is wrong and what is right.
I just think we need dynamic characters that clearly has sides to them that every person can relate to. I mean, is sokka is a "problematic character"....why not just drop Iroh and Zuko that literally was hunting the avatar to kill/capture him. But they wont do that, because then the movie doesn't have a conflict and you droop two of the most likes character. It just doesn't make sense in my eyes.
We need characters with faults. I think if you are either scared that you or your close ones (children etc) are going to be influenced by watching a character like sokka; maybe you don't have the maturity to make you own morals stance and shouldn't watch a show like that.
Tv shows and movies are there to place your morals for you. If you can't pick what's right and what's wrong between being a sexist and not; you shouldn't watch a show like that. If it upset you that much, the solution isn't to get rid of those traits. It is to not watch it.
Also, I think it's wrong to remove Katara's more emphatic and sympatic sides in the name of "modern feminism". I hate when film producers do that. They want strong females, so they give them the traits of toxic masculinity. When Katara's motherly sides was never a weakness for her. It made her strong and it made her fight for people she cared about.
That is just mu thoughts. I'm never really for the remake of things. I don't really think it does any good and nobody likes them, it seems like. Why not make new plots and stories. Like they could have made a film out of the comics or something. I don't think I will see the movie, just because I don't the necessity of having it made and because I will literally be watching new characters just with the same name.
Just read that the live action Avatar the Last Airbender is making Sokka less misogynistic which I think is actually a poor choice
Part of what made Sokka a good and interesting character was seeing him grow from a boy who often insulted women into a man who regularly drank his respect women juice
We need to allow people to be shitty and yet grow into better people and Sokka was a good example of that because he was generally still likeable as a character overall, even when he was being kind of a dick
Giving him the chance to learn and grow as a person was part of what made him a well rounded character and to remove that is likely to make him a flatter character overall
