I made a harukyon playlist! Because I have intense brainworms and because I noticed there's a severe lack of TMOHS playlists on spotify (except for itsukyon, good job).

Explanation/rant about each song + link to lyrics and translations under the cut! (tldr: tsundere x tsundere realness)

Weird Autum (Shardrow/Night in the Woods). Sometimes you can't see someone until they're gone. But some people never stop, they're always moving on. This song pretty much reflects how people view Haruhi at the beginning of the story, plus the curiosity? the singer has about Autum also reflects Kyon's curiosity for Haruhi and wanting to know more about her despite thinking she's "weird".

Dakara boku wa ongaku wo yameta (Yorushika). Even I had a faith in something too, but now it has turned into rubbish. I wrote to you again and again. Shoutout to letyukisayfuck for suggesting this one on the discord because yeah... I feel this one really resonates with Haruhi's feelings pretty much through the series, but mostly during Melancholy. Her inner turmoil between wanting to believe in the supernatural, wanting to believe she's special, but also being a pretty rational person who deep down knows it's impossible. The "you" the singer is talking too pretty perfectly fits Haruhi's vision of John Smith too.

Yoake to Hotaru (n-buna). I can't find what I want to do, so I hang my head down low and pretend to be in a hurry. They laugh at me when I fell down, but I notice not to notice the laughter. Yea this is pretty much a continuation of the last song (they're written by the same person it's not my fault). Haruhi's melancholy, her negative feelings towards a boring world that has no use to her, etc etc. I like that this song is less angry than the others in the playlist because Haruhi also has her moments of just. Feeling sad, man.

I Hear a Symphony (Cody Fry). I used to hear a simple song, that was until you came along. Now in its place is something new. I hear it when I look at you. I feel like this is pretty obvious, but, yea, Kyon's world literally gains color after he meets Haruhi. He, a self-defined cynic who thought he was over believing in supernatural stuff, is suddenly thrown into Haruhi's whole mess and he loves it. I'm gonna lay down and cry now.

Die Anywhere Else (Alec Holowka/Night in the Woods). I just want to die anywhere else. If only I could die anywhere else. So come with me, let’s die anywhere else. Pretty much Haruhi's feelings during Melancholy, especially at the end. The song talks about feeling insignificant, about not liking where you are but being unable to change anything. This girl needs therapy.

I was an Island (John-Allison Weiss). I was a fighter, and I was so brave. But I lowered my sword when you held me and swore you'd stay. This is one of those songs that fit both of them pretty well! It's a bit more obvious is that Haruhi finally found in Kyon someone who would stay with her despite everything (I feel like their fight in Sighs is the best example of this), but it's also true that Kyon trusts Haruhi more than anyone else, and he found in her someone who helps him be himself (even if he's tsundere about it).

Bouken deshou deshou? (Aya Hirano). Please come with me. Look at me--I'm free everywhere I go. Literally a Haruhi song! I couldn't not add it. I feel like it sums up Haruhi's feelings right after meeting Kyon and forming the brigade, of excitement and feeling like doing things that aren't normal, and wanting Kyon to come with her and look at her as she finally feels some happy after so long.

Rock in God's Shoe (Sushi Soucy). God is a narrator but He left His mic off, and now we are left without guidance. Okay this one is less about their relationship and just a good Haruhi song. The "God is a middle schooler, we are a science project" part reflects pretty well both Haruhi's mentality during and before the did whatever the fuck to the world three years ago, and the song reflects pretty well how the different factions view her. The God is a narrator part also fits really well with the Kyon is god theory. I wanna make an animatic with this song someone please bully me into doing it.

Despair (Leo). 'Cause it's not romantic, I swear. I'm not gasping for air. I want you to be here, but please don't come near. It's the tsundere song! They're both tsundere!! What else can I say. They're both so in love with the other but are too stubborn and prideful to admit it.

Avalanche (Walk the Moon). One glance and the avalanche drops. One look and my heartbeat stops. This is to me like, the pinning song. Again kind of self-explanatory, they're both in love with the other but are too tsundere to admit it. "Sometimes the past echoes in the future" also speaks to how their relationship literally started before they met for the first time (the sense of urgency in the lyrics is me pushing them together like dolls).

Kimi no shiranai monogatari (Supercell). Since when did I become someone who chases after you? I'm begging you, listen without being surprised, to these feelings I have. It's super important to me that this is Kyon's POV. This is a song about Kyon realizing too late he was in love with Haruhi the whole time and regretting not telling her (if you wanna get sad, this is after they graduate and lose contact, or it could just him being dramatic). The brief mentions of the "you" in the song sound a lot like Haruhi, and the mentions of summer to me are reminscent of how brief the three years of high school really are. I also really really love the scenario of Kyon finally realizing/accepting he's in love with Haruhi. Plus it's important to me that back in like 2010 every popular ship got an AMV or a MAD with this song, AND that it's a Bakemonogatari ED and Bakemonogatari owes sooo much to Haruhi let's be real.

Zenzenzense (RADWIMPS). We met at the far extremes of so many galaxies. How should I grasp your hand to keep it from falling apart? All of this song is just harukyon. From the very beginning with Haruhi telling Kyon he's late, the mentions of basically "I would stop the earth to save you if anything happened to you", to "the parts of the story that happened while you were sleeping" (everything Haruhi doesn't know about the brigade), plus the singer's cocky attitude (calling the other person's smile awkward or their voice annoying while talking about restarting the world for them) that fits Kyon so well. "You stole from me my ability to ever give up" is just. I need to lay down I'm getting emotional.

One Man Live (RADWIMPS). You make this perfectly round earth in to a theater, and you make yourself on the stage, there you will play until the sound of the ringing stops and the applause echoes around. Kind of a similar vibe to Zenzenzense, though this is more about Haruhi's strong personality and Kyon being willing to be his support (even if he's tsundere about it). The way it talks about overcoming pain speaks to me about both Haruhi overcoming her issues, and about Kyon overcoming all the real stuff that comes with being in Haruhi's orbit, but "the feedback is no problem, that sound will become your voice".

Shut Up And Dance (Walk the Moon). "Oh, don't you dare look back, just keep your eyes on me" I said, "You're holding back". She said, "Shut up and dance with me". The chorus just always makes me think of Haruhi and Kyon, and their typical kind of banter, while in the "narration" Kyon knows them getting together is just matter of time. Maybe not as deep as the rest but it's fun and I like it.

Super Driver (Aya Hirano). I found you all by myself, isn't it obvious I'd fall in love with you? I mean this is another Haruhi song so, you konw. I really like the bridge, where Haruhi says "none of this is a dream, so why is my heart pounding?", because it refelcts how she's finally having fun without having to "force" anything, just being with the Bridage. Haruhi being happy makes me happy.

Melancholic (Junky). Ever since you appeared in that dream, I haven't been honest to myself. Another tsundere song! What I like about these is that it fits both of them, though this is a bit more Haruhi-centric. You can tell the singer is angry about having her heart stolen, but happy about it at the same time. Haruhi and Kyon are both a bit angry at the other for their feelings, but at the end of the day it's still a happy feeling and they both enjoy each other's presence (no matter how tsundere they are about it).

Sokkenai (RADWIMPS). Why are you so indifferent? Turn around and face me. You’re the one who told me to come. Listen it's not my fault so many RADWIMPS songs sound like Kyon's POV. This really feels like the rare moments when Kyon gets emotionally mature with Haruhi, where he knows what Haruhi wants from him but wants her to say it out loud (like exactly the end of Melancholy, "looks good on you" etc etc). Deep down Kyon knows Haruhi is both embarrassed and afraid to admit her feelings, even though she's the one that keeps pulling him closer and closer. The way the chorus says "if I'm not the one, tell me because I don't have that much time", but then "if you'll teach me about love, I have all the time in the world" just... feels like the type of thing Kyon would say. Even the part at the end when the singer admits he's only being this bold because he's a little drunk anddoesn't know if he'll be brave enough to admit all this later is spot-on. I need to lay down again.

My Life Would Suck Without You (Kelly Clarkson). Maybe I was stupid for tellin' you goodbye. Maybe I was wrong for tryna pick a fight. This is another tsundere song, but at least now it's Established Relationship Tsunderes. I have a hard time believing Haruhi and Kyon would stop fighting even if they got over their issues and started dating, they're both still very stubborn and prideful and I feel like fighting is just how Haruhi communicates sometimes. But at the same time it just works for them? They're the type of couple that have a lot of small "fights" that are never serious but are actually very well-balanced and barely ever get into any real fight.

Still Into You (Paramore). Let 'em wonder how we got this far, 'cause I don't really need to wonder at all. I know this isn't necessarily a tsundere song but I've interpreted that way for years so hey. I don't really have much to say about this one, I think it's really sweet and the kind of relationship described in the song is just Established harukyon.

Sparkle (RADWIMPS). Even if it may become a tragedy, I wished for seemingly unreal days… with abnormal meaning… But once I did, you were standing outside the door, all of your baggage in tow. What can I say. This is just Kyon during Disappearance, this is a song about being in love with someone through the pain and wanting to stay together through all. It's one of those songs that to me really capture the heart of harukyon, and that's that while they may be tsundere and they may get on each others' nerves, they trust each other more than anything, they bring meaning to each other's lives, and they will quite literally find each other in every universe

Magic Mirror (RADWIMPS). Can you protect yourself? Do you know how to use your courage? I'm sure you're bad at it, So I'll help you out as I can. Staying in line with the previous song but in a more general sense, kind of similar to One Man Live, this song is about Kyon wanting to help Haruhi through her issues. However I like that in the end, "the person crying in the mirror was myself", is basically saying that Kyon also has issues! He's also a weird little man who isn't honest and he tries to help others to distract from his feelings. Go to therapy boy!

Iin desu ka? (RADWIMPS). When I searched for the meaning of being with you, the answer was to live through tomorrow. When I searched for the meaning of living through tomorrow, the answer was to be with you. Don't complain about the amont of RADWIMPS songs this is my playlist okay. This is another song that feels like it fits both POVs. They're both tsundere, they're both unsure if it's okay for them to like the other, but they also know that it's okay, because it's them. The part where it says "because I know my last words in this world will be 'thank you' to you" hits me every time.

God knows... (Aya Hirano/ENOZ/you know this song it's okay). I'll follow you. No matter where you are in the darkness of this bitter world you will shine, and exceed the limits of the future. This is kind of an honorary addition? In that I don't really think it fits them as well as the other songs, but I just wanted to add it lol. I do think there's a bit of both of them in this song, again with their motif or "I'll follow you anywhere, I'll share your pain, we will make the world fit us". Also there's no better way to end a harukyon playlist than with Aya Hirano.

Shoutout also to Kyon's character songs, especially kentai life returns and daga soredake janai, which I love unironically but just didn't fit the vibe of the playlist. Also thanks for reading this far this was very very long whoops.

"I don't want your help," You uttered smally, turning your head away.

"I wasn't asking if you wanted it, I was pitying you." The voice was familiar, but you couldn't put your finger on it. It was a neutral sounding tone. One that shook at your core.

You tried to ignore the tone and keep your head in check, but as soon as you heard those words, your body swung towards him as you felt frustration pour into your veins. "Pity me?" You scoffed, "I'll be damned if I let someone who's tried to ruin my life pity me! What do you want?"

Somehow you always catch yourself talking boldly to the worst person to argue with, both with the people you know and the people you don't know. And in this scenario, the only other bigger streamer than you was the one attempting to stir you up. He remained calm despite his malicious tone, unfazed by your outburst. "I want you to spare me the melodrama. Were you not the one staging drama under my name for views?"

"Don't act like you're above it. We both know you thrive when there's chaos, but I'm not going to give you the satisfaction." You spat, vowing through gritted teeth.

You didn't know what he was thinking. The other was so unpredictable with his actions that you flinched when he started treading closer towards you. "Aw, the little victim."

He knew that nobody would believe you, and that's what made your blood boil even more. But for some reason, amongst all of the anger and the fury that was coursing in your veins...you noticed your heart pounding and attraction flushing some of the agitation out.

"Don't act like you can get under my skin. I'm not a little bitch." You met his gaze once his violet eyes stared into yours, you returned a steely gaze. Your breath was caught in your throat at the close proximity.

"I think I did that as soon as you started throwing a fit online." He whispered softly, the sound of his voice low and smug. "How was the coffee, was it sticky?"

You screamed in horror waking up, eyes snapping open as the remnants of the dream clung to your skin. "What the fuck?!" You gasped out, breathing heavily.

There were tears in your eyes from how god awful that dream was. You frantically searched for your phone, looking at the practically millions of notifications you were getting to get yourself to come down to earth.

it was surprising that ajax knew exactly where to find you.

well not really; it’s not like he had many options for where you could be in the first place. perhaps he was just lucky that he had thought of this place first—the quiet park where you two had your “late night walk” a few nights ago, which mostly contained you and ajax just sitting down on a bench and him walking you home right after, really.

ajax slowed down his steps when he saw you hiding your face with your knees up on the bench. he runs a hand through his hair in frustration, not because of you. he’s frustrated that he didn’t want to see you like this. although you rarely smile at him in general (he considers himself lucky if he ever gets you to smile in his direction), ajax knows that a smile suits your features better than a frown—or even worse, tears.

he gently approaches you, silently taking the spot next to you. you knew it was ajax right away from the familiar yet comforting scent of the fabric conditioner that he uses on his clothes. and he was the only one you contacted before you made your way here. after simply texting the location of the park, ajax immediately knew that something was up.

“i don’t get it.” you mumbled. ajax doesn’t dare to speak—not yet.

instead, he pulls you closer to him by wrapping an arm around you. he could feel his clothes getting slowly dampened by the amount of tears you’ve been letting out but he doesn’t mind. he’ll take care of that later. “why? i have my limits too, dammit.” you sobbed into his shirt. ajax comfortingly rubs his hand on your arms.

“my poor girl,” he whispers at the crown of your head, gently pressing his lips to it right after. “it’s okay; it’ll be okay soon.”

“they all say that—” a sniffle, “—but what if i don’t? what if it doesn’t get better?” you said, shakily. “i’m scared, ajax.” he gently shushes you, not allowing you to continue that trail of thought. “do you trust me?”

he feels you nod against the fabric of his clothes. “then trust me when i say that it’ll be okay, yeah? being scared and crying is okay; take your time with it. you don’t have to suffer alone, (name).”

even if you think that the world is against you or when nothing seems clear, always remember: you’ll be safe here.

“You didn’t tell me where we're going?”

“Well we're here now so open your eyes.” I looked over to where Childe was walking and saw roller coasters.

“An amusement park?” You asked, raising your eyebrow as you followed him.

“What’s more romantic than watching fireworks from a Ferris wheel at night?”

“That’s corny and cliche.” Childe only laughed in response.

“Look! The fireworks started!” You said excitedly as you peered outside the window like a little kid. 

”I thought it was corny and cliche?” Childe said, smirking teasingly. You rolled your eyes at him.

“I haven't seen fireworks since… like forever.” You said solemnly. Childe caught the sadness in your voice. He opened his mouth to say something but you cut him off.

“They're really pretty aren't they?” You asked, turning and smiling at him before looking back at the fireworks. 

“Yeah… Breathtaking…” He said, looking at you but he turned his head as soon as you faced him.

“I don't think I've ever heard someone describe fireworks as “breathtaking”.”

“You still haven’t.” He mumbled under his breath 

“What?”

[Name] — "Hi, Ayato! Did you need something? Is it about the project?"

[Ayato] — "No, no. Don't worry about the project. I just wanted to check in on you. I understand people have a natural desire for drama, news, and gossip. But it's unfortunate that sometimes this can bring disaster. We're lucky the situation isn't worse."

[Name] — "You can say that again. It's ridiculous. We were just chatting about the project. Have they never seen two people have a regular conversation? No one was even near us to hear us talking, so why did they assume..."

[Ayato] — "I wish I understood why. But if you're alright, then my worries are definitely lessened."

[Name] — "You were worried?"

[Ayato] — "Naturally. Anything near the level of a scandal can stress the other party out, and that's what I'd most like to avoid. I don't want you being thrown under the bus only because of my social standing. It's unfair."

[Name] — "Thank you... I really appreciate that. To be honest, I already feel a lot better after talking things out with you. It's a relief."

[Ayato] — "That makes me happy. Oh, I did want to mention something about the project now that I think about it. It seems I've forgotten what it was..."

[Name] — "Could it have been something about the editing? We're nearly done with the important parts, right?"

[Ayato] — "Yes... Actually, I might’ve just wanted to tell you that I really like the photos you took. I've been going over them today. There's a lot of talent and potential in your photography, on top of your skill. I'm not lying when I say that I think we work well together."

There was a growing smile on Ayato's face as he heard [Name] get flustered on the other line. Something about them made part of his brain ache with a strange feeling he'd never experienced. He was aware of it, but he decided it's better to put that away and unpack it later. For now, he had a project to finish and things to talk about. Apparently, for 4 hours straight, because the phone call that the two shared lasted long into the night. Even when [Name] began to doze off and snore quietly through the glowing screen connection.

I have a weak spot for fictional languages and a compulsive need to poke them with a stick and babble about it. It was this or get sucked into trying to build actual headcanoned conlangs out of this nonsense. So.

If your character has elven on their character sheet: no they don't, the elves are just humouring you. No PCs actually learned this istg.

'Are you still putting off that elven subrace post?' YES.

The 'Elvish' you put on your character sheet as a language proficiency - or Lalur ('the Singing') in Elvish - is actually a pidgin tongue akin to Common, a 'simple' trade tongue that allows elves from various backgrounds to communicate. Elven languages tend to be varied, sometimes to an extreme extent. Drowic altered rapidly due to adapting to Underdark survival and meddling from the church of Lolth, and each drow city has a different dialect; and the Lythari dialect is utterly unlike any other.

As per the advice in Drow of the Underdark (1e), it's a perfectly valid choice to simply cherry pick words from canon glossaries and invent your own elven languages and dialects.

'Standard' Elven seems to look like this: 'Ai armiel telere maenen hir.' 'Qu’kiir vian ivae, qu’kiir nethmet. Ivae marat vand Cormanthor. Mythal selen mhaor kenet. Qu’kiir vand tir t’nor' Very big on diphthongs and ' .

Menzoberranzan Drowic looks like this: 'Khaless nau uss mzild taga dosstan.' 'Kyorl jal bauth, kyone, lueth lil Quarvalsharess xal belbau dos lil belbol del elandar dro.' They like their hard double consonants along with their dipthongs.

And the Lythari dialect looks like this: 'Na kwast wahir athu kyene wekht unarihe.' Seem to be a lot of 'clipped' sounds.

Put a moon elf a drow and an elven lycanthrope in the same room and tell them they have to use their mother tongue and they're not going to get anything done. A fluent speaker of the standard surface elven can make out about 14% of drowic by linguistic overlap, but nothing more, and such applies to other elves: a group of green elves and a migration of aquatic elves that encountered each other once had to spend time breaking down language barriers to talk to each other.

Usually the structure of elven languages flows like English, because the writers aren't actually making a genuine conlang. And then sometimes it really doesn't which makes trying to mine vocabulary and grammar annoying.

As well as spoken languages for daily communication, there are complicated mystical formal languages like Seldruin and 'High Drow' which is used by powerful spellcasters (High Mages and High Priestesses of Lolth respectively).

Elves also utilise alternate forms of communication like sign language and a sort of braille on a regular basis, even if abled. Drow are most known for their use of sign language (its lack of verbal component in particular is useful in the open Underdark, where making a noise is extremely likely to guarantee your death) but surface elves also use it, and use of 'braille' was promoted by moon elves for the sake of the visually impaired and blind, though many sighted elves also use it for secret messaging. Drow in particular make use of it for that, but they're hardly alone.

The alphabet elves use to write in Elven and Common is espruar, created by moon elves and adopted by other elven people (likely due to the amount of wandering and mixing the early moon elves got up to, pre-Crown Wars).

Comes in two variants, the latter of which is the most usually seen:

There's also an older variant of pictograms used by early elves that were 'predecessors' of the Thorass alphabet... which also might actually double as music instructions.

Seldruin is written in a distinct and basically extinct alphabet called Hamarfae.

Elven includes at least six grammatical tenses not found in the languages of shorter lived races to accommodate the elven understanding of time. While it hasn't come up in canon, with the Seldarine being ambiguous about gender elves should probably also have more complicated grammatical gender as well.

Just about every word in Common has about ten or more potential translations in an elvish language, each with a slightly different nuance which may be context sensitive as every word in elven appears to have several meanings within itself. Sort of like there's a word for every facet of a concept or thing, depending on what about the topic you specifically want to discuss.

Want to talk about the winter this year? Two words that will get translated into 'winter' in Common are Loress and Orth. Loress means winter as in the aspect of the season as a period of dormancy, slowing down and hibernation and winter's effect on plant life, you'd probably use it to discuss gardening and crops. Orth means winter in its aspect as a period of danger and consequences (closed roads and frostbite and death by exposure). But in common they just say 'winter.'

What you stress and how you use it will give you an entirely different sentence.

For general elven: Ar means great, Cor also means great, Selu means great.

Cor has connotations of 'grandness' and 'monarch,' carrying connotations of highest authority, and possibly a sort of peak: the highest point its possible to reach, and maybe culmination and fulfilment.

Ar also means 'sun,' probably the colour gold (since teu means silver and moon), as well as connotations of a high rank and the responsibility of guardianship and/or guidance judging by the title 'Arakhor' (ar + akh (duty-need) + or (woods) - the tree guardian, grandfather tree, the one who protects the woods)

(Thus gold elves, the Ar'Tel'Quessir have a name that communicates that they are the people of the sun (by golden appearance and affiliation with Labelas Enoreth), the 'highest' of the People, and they are those with a duty to look after the elven people and their ways.)

Not sure about selu, it places an emphasis on a translation into 'high' and it mostly crops up in connotations of High Magic. Usually gets contracted to sel, like 'Seldarine.'

And then, by changing the stressed syllable, a word has a different meaning.

For example 'Cormanthor,' 'Cormanthor,' and 'Cormanthor' are three different words!

Combining Cor = 'Grand/great ' + Manth = 'Promise/vow,' apparently with connotations of hoping/having faith in the promised outcome + Or = 'Wood,' 'place,' probably also 'copper'

Cormanthor means 'the King's Vow Forest.' Referring to the forest of Cormanthor.

Cormanthor means 'Place of Great Promise.' Referring to the capital city of Myth Drannor, Cormanthor.

Cormanthor means 'Ruler of the Forest True,' and 'King of the Oathlands,' was the green elven title for the coronal (king) of Cormanthor. Apparently when stress is taken of manth and or they combine meanings to get 'faithful-wood/land' or 'oathland'

And then there's 'Cormanthyr' which is a different word altogether whose nuance can be translated as 'the Fulfilment of Promise' and 'Culmination of Hope and Faith' simultaneously.

Also sometimes seems like nouns double as adjectives.

Theur means 'shield' and 'unbreakable,' 'unyielding.'

Aegan means 'physical strength' and 'strong.'

Plurals are just come in so many variants.

Vel -> Vael Sig -> Sige Or -> Ora Athil -> Athila Quess -> Quessir

Okay, just finished rereading the Koizumi exposition chapter, so gonna talk about the implications of his everything a bit.

Closed Space exists.

Closed Space occurs when Haruhi is in emotionally unstable.

Within Closed Space are big blue monsters that destroy the world around them.

If left unchecked, Closed Space will grow and encompass the entire world, destroying it.

Koizumi and his agency woke up one day knowing all of the above - and also that they had the power to fight the monsters.

Like. Consider.

Haruhi subconsciously took her desire to destroy the world and start over, compartmentalized it, and then sent other people to take care of it so that she wouldn't, you know. -gestures-

Haruhi took her depression/despair/anger/etc. and compartmentalized it where she wouldn't ever have to address it and where if it wasn't taken care of it would consume everything and then trusted that other people (chosen by some unknown process in her subconscious) would fix it.

Which, like, one - that is a great metaphor for shoving your emotions down and not addressing them while your friends and family both notice and are trying to change things.

But also, like. clearly Haruhi, subconsciously, very strongly does not want to destroy the world. She can clearly move herself into Closed Space with Kyon and have everything she thinks she ever wanted - we see her do that at the end of the first book - but her priority is actually no, I don't want to destroy the world, but also I cannot acknowledge ever that I have the power to do that, so I'm going to put those instincts elsewhere and trust that it'll get taken care of by other people who also maybe don't want the world destroyed.

Because like.

The only one who could conceivably have designed this entire -gestures- is Haruhi herself.

As a yuki lover. Can you tell me your thoughts on her?

i love yuki. i did not make this blog's url yuki-themed without loving yuki. the reason i don't talk about her too much is that i feel like either people understand her or they don't. if they do i rarely have anything to add and would not feel especially confident in my statements if they get too specific, and if they don't i rarely want to put in the effort of arguing about it

but she's such an interesting character, and easily the non-kyon character we get the most direct insight into (as disappearance centers on her in a major way and most of the stories that take place between endless eight and disappearance either center her or imply things about her in the background)

and even with that insight and understanding there's still so much we do not and fundamentally cannot comprehend, by virtue of her being fundamentally something other than human in a way that doesn't really apply to mikuru or koizumi

when i'm writing i'm never sure how to approach her, because i don't have that same easy understanding of her like i do with haruhi or kyon, and i don't have strong insight into how my personal read of her would affect her actions like i do with koizumi or mikuru

the balance between autonomy and following orders, how she slowly develops her own will and interests... i love her a lot and i hope she gets everything she wants forever and ever
