kyoko, in oaei: i can't think too much about what junko wants because in thinking about it too much i might try to do the opposite of what she wants and that might be exactly what she wants and if i think about it too much i won't do anything at all

#musings #bandit writes fic #dr1 end rewrite fic #it's not that kyoko isn't smart or a brilliant detective #she absolutely is!#she just doesn't have all the information #kyoko DOES figure out what's happening in oaei RIGHT BEFORE IT HAPPENS #because she WAS missing important information #as soon as she had the information SHE GOT IT #junko ABSOLUTELY left the pieces in place for kyoko #but she didn't give them to her all at once #she set them up to be given when kyoko needs them #if kyoko had all of the information at once it would be an entirely different thing #the thing is that kyoko is in place of the reader (mostly)#junko leaves the pieces in place for her; i have to leave them in place for the reader #and it has to feel satisfying to realize what junko's plan is #but also you can't figure it out too early #(or you CAN and then find dramatic irony if you want)#junko SAID what her plan was #junko's plan is to DIE #but kyoko's picking up threads and trying to think like junko #so that she can figure out the bigger picture of what is going on #(just like in the first game - sure there are murder trials and kyoko doesn't think those are hard - but #there's also the big overarching mystery of why they're there and who the mastermind is #and junko /left pieces for kyoko there too/#and then got pissed when kyoko tried to share with makoto HE'S NOT PART OF THIS KYOKO)#a n y w a y
