I have zero interactions over here, but I wanted to try this.
I made this blog where I kind of rant poetically (i.e. I make things rhyme. they might be corny, but they are mine... yeah you get it).
https://itllpass.blogspot.com/
it’s totally a self-plug, but it would make me very happy to share this with whoever may come across this post.

I was tagged by @kvothes to name 10 songs I love by 10 different artists and u know what... I'd love to! Now I'm a person who likes to listen to the same music for 15-20 years in a row plus I'm a FM radio top 40head and somebody who never knows what's going on and who loves slop. But these are some songs that I can never listen to enough times in a row!!!!
1. No One Dies From Love by Tove Lo - ok not to be like "WHY is NOBODY talking about this" but like why is nobody talking about this!!!! Not only does it fuckin whip ass and slap but she says "no one dies from love..... guess I'll be the first.... will you remember us.... or are the memories too stained with blood now?" HELLO??????????? THE FACT THAT THIS ISN'T BEING DISCUSSED AT ALL HOURS RIGHT NOW???? THIS IS A FUCKIN SONG!!!!
2. Western Wind by Carly Rae Jepsen - is this the best CRJ song I've ever heard in my life??? No... that's "I Know You Have a Girlfriend" which isn't on any American streaming services so I have to listen to it 200x in a row on YouTube which is dehumanizing. Sitting here rewinding it with my fingers... ok. HOWEVER this is a new CRJ song and I love it and it has changed me. The verses are like fine but the chorus sounds soooo good.... "DO U FEEL HOME FROM ALL DIRECTIONS??????"
3. Dark Green Water by Great Grandpa - @notthequiettype put this on a playlist (btw if anyone posts a playlist or a song I'm not joking when I say I slam the link and listen immediately like if u think nobody cares think again bc I am on top of it) and it stopped me in my tracks!!!!!! About 3 minutes in it gets quiet and ur like ok it's winding down... then they pop off and start yelling again and it HITS!!!!!! She's like "hold on best I can to a space where... ALL 🗣 THINGS 🗣 FADE 🗣 INTO DARK 🗣 GREEN 🗣 WATER!!!!!" voice breaking.... absolutely yes bitch.
4. BITM by Leikeli47 - Spotify put "Money" by Leikeli47 on their Taurus zodiac playlist a couple years ago and as a Taurus I listened to it and was just like yes..... YES!!!!!!! She just dropped a new album and maybe it is being overshadowed... but it completely fucks!!!!! "U MIGHT WANNA LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE U THINK ABOUT CROSSING ME"..... YES!!!!!! I WANNA GO CRAZY
5. Teach Me by Miguel - ok like I said I listen to the same songs for decades... this is from an extremely important 2010 album and is without question one of the best horny fuck songs of all time. IT WASN'T EVEN A SINGLE?????? ANYWHERE WE ARE~ I'M DARING U TO DEMONSTRATE~ THE FRONT SEAT OF MY CAR~ CLOSE UR EYES AND ACCELERATE~ IF U NEVER SEEN SATURN~ TAKE A RIDE ON MY ROCKET BABE~ UR BODY IS A PARTY AND~ I JUST WANNA CELEBRATE~ brother that's fuckin music!!!!!!
6. Diane by Cam - this is sort of a reverse Jolene where miss Cam finds out she's fuckin another girl's man and she's like oh my god I'm SO sorry I had NO idea we BOTH should dump his cheating ass. Full force galloping at full speed music and this bitch is SINGING her HEAD off!!!!!! "ALL THOSE NIGHTS THAT HE'S GIVEN TO ME... I WISH THAT I COULD GIVE THEM BACK TO U!!!!!"
7. Come To My Window by Melissa Etheridge - I learned what the dictionary defines a lesbian as because this song came on the radio at some point when I was a young child so like between 1993-1996 probably and I was like now this is a fuckin song and my mom was like "hey u know Melissa Etheridge is a lesbian" and I was like what's a lesbian and my mom was like (paraphrasing) "a woman who loves other women" and I was like oh my god... remember when Applebee's used this song in a commercial to promote their curbside pickup???? JUST THINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME SCREAM... LESBIAN APPLEBEE'S???? CRAWL INSIDE.... WAIT BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON!!!!
8. Spud Infinity by Big Thief - springy sproingy jug band science fiction porch music.... music to think about how u are a small and in the dirt but at the same time u are everything in the sky. KISS THE ONE U ARE RIGHT NOW KISS UR BODY UP AND DOWN.... OTHER THAN UR ELBOWS. Brother I'm losing steam they shouldn't let me write about things I like
9. Cat & Dog by TXT - I think everyone should listen to this kpop song at least once. I will never forget sitting here getting my mind blasted wide open by it. TXT set a precedent with this and they haven't disappointed me since. THEY GOT THESE LITTLE BOYS BARKING ON THE TRACK RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE!!!!! The English version they say "it's no coincidence it's a kitty-incidence" think about THAT!!!!
10. Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb - this was recently featured on the tv limited series Station Eleven where someone who was born after 99% of the population died in a flu pandemic sings it on a karaoke machine. This proves how important this song is... Stay by Lisa Loeb transcends total global collapse. DID LISA LOEB DIE IN THE FICTIONAL PANDEMIC???? OH GOD... btw if u still haven't watched Station Eleven u simply must. It sounds bleak but it isn't and made me cry so hard from joy that my face separated from my skull. SO I - I TURNED THE RADIO ON I TURNED THE RADIO UP AND THIS WOMAN WAS SINGIN MY SONG!!!!!!

4.October.2020 - A SUNDAY KISSED BY THE SUN
Today was the perfect weather for a fall freak like me. It felt like someone designed the heaven only for me. It was cloudy but most of the time the sun broke through the thick layer of clouds and shined on me with all her warmth.
First I wanted to read in the house but then I took one of the expensive chairs from my mother [sorry btw] and sat myself in the middle of our garden. It was marvelous. And I mean that. I read the pages with so much happiness and sadness, that I couldn't hold back a few tears. I'm a softie and I'm proud of it. I don't know why some people think crying is only for the weak. I think crying is for the people, whose feelings are their most powerful weapon. Their ability to feel for others and themselves is powerful.
And yes, I'm still reading "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss but surprisingly I reached the half of the book. Wasn't expecting that! And I really like it. Spoiler: Kvothe finally left this horrible city where he lived for 3 years full of pain and sorrow. He has a little crush on that girl, nailed the audition at the University and I'm exited of what comes next!
In the book there is a instrument, which is very important. A lute. I listened to some songs and Youtube and I love the sound and atmosphere. Here an example:

It's beautiful, isn't it?

On Elodin
So @bookcub and I were talking about kkc (like ... Always) and I was saying I really disliked the "Elodin is actually Taborlin the great" theories, which prompted this post lol
I think it's a disservice to Elodin's character to say he is actually that legendary figure. On a similar way, theories about Auri and Denna actually being the moon or from the Fae stems from the same thing: it seems easier to dehumanize characters we don't understand.
And yes, equating someone to a legendary figure is dehumanizing.
We tend to put people on pedestals (look at how Pat is treated: the unicorn author who can't possibly be hurt when people harass him about book 3 because he has so much money sweatie :)))) ) and pretend idolizing them is a privilege and not a way to objectify them.
I'm sorry but as much as I love Elodin, he's a trashfire. Not a legendary figure. Not the wise master. Not the crazy whimsical character, either. He's just human. He messes up a lot. We still don't know how exactly he ended up in Haven, but Hemme said he was catatonic, and Elodin first called the name of the wind at 14 in anger so I think it's safe to say he just acted recklessly and hurt his mind in the process.
In a way, he's very much a cautionary tale for Kvothe. Brilliant at a young age, he ended up burning himself out.
I'm pretty certain he doesn't know what he's doing, even now. Just look at how he ended up making Kvothe jump off the roof? What did he expect exactly? Because let's be real, the dude just showed he could turn a stone wall into dust, it was not the "stupidest thing ever" to assume he would catch Kvothe's fall calling the name of the wind. Did he expect Kvothe to turn around and say "screw you I'm not jumping off" and use that as an excuse not to teach him, after having shown him naming was something so powerful???
Imo he didn't think that far.
I honestly think he's not a good teacher either. He's just the next best thing to people stumbling into naming with no guidance at all.
I think he's the master namer not because he's good at it, but because there's no one else, and he's just trying to prevent people from ending up in Haven as he did

I'm sorry to be that person, but if you feel up to it, do ALL the bookish asks. I figured there's not a ridiculous number of them, and I'm really curious because Books.
Ooh, thank you!
Wilde: Would you rather relax by reading a new book or by re-reading a well loved book? (I think it depends on my mood. If I’m looking for an adventure, I’d read something new. But most of the time, I curl up with something I already read; I find re-reading comforting.)
Fitzgerald: Reading with a cup of tea or mug of hot chocolate?(I love both! Hot chocolate is especially great in the winter, though.)
Adams: Fiction or non-fiction?(Definitely fiction. Sure, there are some non-fiction books I’ve read and liked, but when I picked those up, I wanted to either research something or learn more about a topic. I mostly gravitate towards fiction otherwise.)
Cabot: Do you read in the bath?(I only take showers, so no. Also I’d be too worried of getting the book wet to even try it.)
Lee: Favourite book?(AHH this is such a hard question to respond to, since I love so many. If I had to pick my most current favorite, it would be The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss.)
Rowling: Favourite message from a book?(I can’t really think of a specific one at the moment, since I am tired, X’D. I do like the concept of friendship being important. -shrugs-)
Tolkien: Stand alone novels or a series?(Either works for me, but I prefer series. If I like a world and its characters, I’d want to keep reading about it.)
Kidd: Do you ‘dog ear’ pages?(No. I use bookmarks.)
Zusak: stories set in the past or the future?(I like both, and read both settings often.)
Austen: 3 favourite characters?(Kvothe, from The Name of the Wind, Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series, and Alex Fierro from the Magnus Chase series.)
Shelley: 3 characters you dislike?(Ambrose Jakis from The Name of the Wind, Queen Elara Merandus from the Red Queen series, and Octavian from the Heroes of Olympus series.)
Dickens: a book you didn’t enjoy?(The only one I can think of at the moment is Matched. It just seemed like a watered-down version of The Giver, a book I really enjoy.)
Shakespeare: A book that made you laugh?(Any of the Percy Jackson books; there are so many quotable funny lines in them!)
Dahl: A book you read because you saw the movie?(I usually see movies after I read the books they’re based off of.)
Carroll: A book that made you cry?(Technically this is a manga, but the volume of Naruto where Haku dies. Still makes me cry to this day, X’D)

The Name of the Wind 4-7 Live blog
You can find everything about this liveblog in my kkc lv tag
We Left in chapter 3 and I’m ready to continue. Honestly, I'm anxious because I intend to read the whole thing (No jumping chapters lol)
Here we go.
Tumblr media
I am sure that a lot of horror movies start like this, someone steals your horse (Car) and you end walking in the dark until you see a light, and then you are a fucking dumbass and Follow the fucking light because yeah that's safe and you aren’t going to find a sex murderer and get sex murdered to death.
Tumblr media
SOrry my dude but id KVOTHE thinks that what you are doing is a bad idea is probably a terrible, dumb, very dumb idea.
I also love how Chronicler is like.. well i should leave then, misterious dude with an iron bar, yeah, the dark sounds better.
Tumblr media
This is so rude... he has to dig a hole and Chronicler goes and.. Faints, like... you could faint later my dude, first we dig.
Tumblr media
IF PAT WERENT A COWARD.
This is what an old married couple sounds like, this is it, Kvothe being like... oh well i didnt tell you because i thought you would argue and Bast being so fucking offended because????? I am your husb  Your friend and i should know when you leave to do something incredibly stupid.
Tumblr media
Poor thing was worried about his babe.... also this is kind of creepy but since Bast is part of the fae ill allow it.
Tumblr media
You can call me...
It does remind me of that post about “don’t give your name to the fae folk” which brings me to.. does Kvothe has fae blood? or is he Part fae after being with Felurian?? Who knows! (pat Knows and won’t release the last book... c’mon pat)
Tumblr media
So you aren’t a fool anymore??? I remember you being a big ass fool.
Tumblr media
Why are they different? I need to know the tales they tell about him. Like, someone (fanfiction writers im @ you) should make a fan compilation of possible Kvothe Tales.
Tumblr media
SOmetimes i worry that she might be dead, others i know that if she were dead Kvothe would be less hurt than this, i know that if she was gone he wouldn’t worry so much. SO maybe? Maybe he is hiding to save her? From her? Or..., who knows? but every time this makes me feel so bad because... where is SHe?
Where is my daughter?
Tumblr media
here we go bois, here we go, we enter the good parts!!! we get the story! one of my favorite parts is the Troupe part of the first book even when it ends... like that.
Tumblr media
BIG DICK ENERGY. This is THe BIgegst DicK Energy
There isn’t a lot to say about this part, and while it is a solid beginning (You either hate the book or love it after 7 chapters) Par does know how to set the tone and the ambient for what is coming.
It is funny in the necessary parts, it is dramatic and we can see some... dark strokes.
8/10 in beginnings

Hi! Is it common for originally English books to have notably bad French translations? I ask because 1: I know a Finnish booklr who always says that most Translations they're used to are only notable when they're particularly great, or particularly bad, and 2: I'm currently learning French, and I'm considering going into Publishing (as an editor or translator), so I was curious as to what are some common translation mistakes, in your experience?
Hey! I’m guessing this is related to my constant bitching about the french translation of the kingkiller chronicle?
For starters, even in just Name of the wind, the quality of the translation varies a great deal. Some things clearly were given lots of time and attention, while some scenes comport bits that are just against the original meaning (quick example, from memory, there’s that scene where the chancellor asks Kvothe if he has anything to add during admissions, and Kvothe says that the other candidates didn’t take up the opportunity. In the french translation, it says the chancellor asks the other masters if they have something to add, then kvothe says that the masters don’t take up the opportunity, which is really just... not what happened? and it takes away meaning from the rest of the conversation??? sorry I’m salty, that turned into a long example)
That being said, I’ve spent my youth reading french translations, and none irked me enough to start reading in english until Game of thrones (I hate that translation even more, because the translator took liberties with Martin’s whole writing style and turned it into some medieval phrasing bullshit). Other than that, I can’t say I noticed really bad translations, but then again, there aren’t that many books I’ve read in both English and French so it’s hard to compare. I think most translations are okay (like not great but not so bad that I want to set the book on fire)
The thing is, I complain about translations but it is a really hard job. (especially in fantasy, or other things where there are layered meanings, or bits of poetry that are a hassle to translate because do you keep the rhyme? the meter? the meaning?) I guess my advice would be to really understand the text before starting to type! I have no clue how translators proceed, but I think A full, careful read-through is needed before starting anything.
The most common mistakes I have seen are bits that go against the original version, false assumptions (kkc again, a character is assumed in the french translation to have long hair, but it is said later in the book in the original version that she has short hair. The translator just decided to add detail that was false and didn’t check their work later to make it consistent), and general betrayal of the tone of the book (all things that come, imo, from a careless read. I get it though. Translators are not paid enough that they can spend the time they need on each book. I guess the conclusion of this rant is that publishers should invest more in their translators so they have the liberty to do a better job)
Anyway, I hope that helps, and if you ever want to practice you french don’t hesitate to message me :D
