Kvlt Metal Yoga Tomorrow w/ Alex Barnett Drone Bath!

SATURDAY, SEP 20, 2014 André Foisy’s (LOCRIAN): Kvlt Metal Yoga with Live Drone Bath By Alex Barnett Turbodog Yoga, Chicago, IL Yoga from 8:30PM - 10PM. Alex Barnett's Drone Bath 10-10:30PM. Spend an evening listening to meditative metal music and practicing yoga by candlelight in a class led by musician and Turbodog Yoga instructor André Foisy. Alix Foisy and Ana Doherty, both certified yoga instructors, will be assisting students throughout the class. This class is intended for those new to yoga as well as experienced yogis. After practicing the asanas, or physical yoga poses, attendees will rest in corpse pose while listening to a dark synthesizer based drone bath performed by Alex Barnett. Barnett is a founding member of Oakeater and has collaborated with Faith Coloccia, Mamiffer and Locrian.

Dress in comfortable clothes and feel free to bring blankets and pillows if you wish.

It’s suggested that you sign up for the class in advance.

When: Saturday, August 2nd Where: Turbodog Yoga, 800 W. Huron [a five minute walk from the Chicago Avenue Blue Line Stop] What time: Class Begins at 8:30pm; Insect Ark’s drone bath will begin at approximately 10:00pm and last until approximately 10:30pm Cost: $16 [for drop in class] Or $20 for the New Student Offer [10 days of unlimited yoga for anyone who has never been to the studio before] Spend an evening listening to meditative metal music and practicing yoga by candlelight in a class led by musician and Turbodog Yoga instructor André Foisy. "IN THE SHADOW OF THE HORNS": CANDLE LIT YOGA

Happy 2014 and #polarvortex! For many of you, it’s happy #seasonaldepression.   I’ve been noticing a lot of cranky and cagey people. It’s been too cold here for too long!   During frigid times like these, there’s a real tendency to stay holed-up in your house. That’s totally ok sometimes, but when the cold just lasts and lasts, then something needs to change.   Before I practiced yoga, I would get tight shoulders and hips, a stiff neck, and low-back pain during such times. I know a lot of people experience similar symptoms.   That’s why I put together a special event: a candlelit yoga and metal night called “In The Shadow Of The Horns” an event titled after one of my favorite tracks on Darkthrone’s “A Blaze In The Northern Sky.” Since Darkthrone are Scandinavian so they obviously know about seasonal depression.    Yes: Candlelit Yoga set to meditative kvlt metal music!   This class will be suitable to people of all levels, even people who have never done yoga (or experienced #trukvltmetal).   It’s on Friday, January 31st at 8:00pm-9:30pm at Turbodog Yoga (327 N. Bell Ave.). There is free parking. This class is free to Turbodog members and it’s the normal class fee for non-members.
