title: empty destruction summary: as the world ended, he ended with it. one of many to succumb and serve. ordered to show no mercy, to go all out. that’s in his ability...right? for: alex (summoner-yuna) pairing: kuzuishi
As the world dropped straight into hell, he was already there to welcome it.
As far as he was concerned, his life had been hell from the start. Born into a world where you had to kill or be killed. His world was brutal and unforgiving. He was forced to endure tough training from a young age. As if the physical and mental strain from that wasn’t enough, it left no time to cope with other conflicting emotions that deviated from the strict binary he was enforced into.
Mercy, friendship, and love. Words all unfamiliar to him. He knew no compassion, sympathy, or sincerity. The only company he ever had considered herself a tool, a slave, nothing more. To the extent of his memories, he was cold and harsh from the beginning.
He was seated at his special spot in hell when she came to him. She opened his eyes, showed him that he needed no armies, no mercenaries, no tools. That he was strong and independent. That he could accomplish anything on his own. He already knew he could bring nothing but chaos and suffering, so that’s what he did. For the sake of his beloved, the unloved boy would tear the world apart.
Bodies hit the floor like they were raining form the sky. Blood stained his hands more and more, and yet he never batted an eye. Scared and innocent people dropped like flies whenever the empty boy came around. In a broken world of destruction, he needed to play his part in taking down anything and everything. His strength was matched by few. He did it all alone. No armies, no mercenaries, no tools needed.
His own well being was of no concern to him either. He would tear out his organs in the blink of an eye if it was what his beloved wanted. He would snap his bones clean in half, gouge out his own eyes, or have a thousand knives pierce his heart. The empty boy felt no pain or fear. Only the empty despair that had filled him to the brim for as long as he could remember.
But something changed. He thought his past had become a darkened haze. A void of shattered memories where nothing could be retrieved. But the boy with the cherry red eyes he held at gunpoint, the one with short, ruffled black hair, the one who looked at the empty boy like he was a familiar human being, someone worthy of trusting, of cherishing. Something clicked inside, and for a split second, the empty boy was whole.
He remembered laughing with friends. He remembered a normal school life. He remembered being comforted in his times of sadness. He remembered the warmth of another body, red eyes that sparkled with hopes, ideals, and dreams, a working and dedicated mind that desired true justice.
A melancholic flame ignited within him. A tidal wave of emotions overtook the once empty boy. For the first time in forever, he felt grief and regret. Tears actually began to stream from his face. He remembered the most important things he had somehow let go of. The gun fell to the ground, and the rebuilt boy fell into the arms of the one he held so dear.
The warmth of another person, and one as nurturing as the cherished boy nonetheless, made the once empty boy feel completely reborn. If time stopped at that moment, everything would be okay. He would remember, he would be happy, he would be loved. But that wasn’t the case. A barrage of gunshots was fired in the distance. Frantic cries echoed out as more lives were lost to the riots.
The snap back to reality blew out the raging flame inside of him, and he started to shatter again. The emptiness was regaining control, and it was doing so fast.
“Ishi,” the breaking boy cried in a shaking voice with his last ounce of sanity. “Get away from me.”
The cherished boy understood immediately. With a heavy heart, he stood up and ran away from the shattering boy. He was breaking down, his emotions fading. He desperately clung onto hope, but was eventually ripped away. The empty boy blinked, wondering why he was wasting time sitting on the ground. He picked up his gun and continued to patrol.
And somewhere, deep in the back of his mind where he would never notice, the empty boy wept.
