So, for one of the volume extras, Fujimoto drew a character called Kuzuhara from Enomoto. More fun trivia, apparently, this one panel was enough to qualify them for the CSM popularity poll that was run and they got 156th place. Take everything in this post with a grain of salt, information is limited and in Japanese (I do not speak nor read Japanese).
Tumblr media
Enomoto is a gag series by Shunji Enomoto and is ridiculous in many ways and to warn you, very gross. It is also not available in English. Enomoto returned the favor by drawing a character from Fire Punch (and claiming that this was despite having a good idea for the fourth panel), which was cool.
Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because I found the similarity to Asa Mitaka and Yoru remarkable when drawn by Fujimoto. Now, this could be a complete coincidence as the uniform is more or less standard and Fujimoto has drawn similar faces in the past. But I did find it interesting enough to note and want to share with people. Plus, it is fun to give some attention to obscure manga. Even if it is a bit much for me personally.

Indian Wells 2 Ch Q1: Bruno Kuzuhara [3] def. Edan Leshem 7-5, 6-2 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
Maintaining the moment could be a rough job to do, but possible once someone got in there. This was the case for one-fourth of the first set in Leshem, where his attempted aggression tried to deal with B. Kuzuhara's offensives. The latter then had moments to find his own balance, eventually passing his way in his attacking position, which mostly caught Leshem off-guard. As a result, B. Kuzuhara could convert 75% of his break points than Leshem's 50% with 8 opportunities to break.
Somehow, Leshem's second serve problems were confirmed by the end of the match. Too many risks were taken along the way, where he ended up double-faulting 5 times, which faded his second serve winning percentage to 26%, more than a half than B. Kuzuhara. On the other hand, despite neither player's inability to score an ace, B. Kuzuhara fairly stood out in his first serves by 7% with a 62% winning rate.
In the second qualifying round, B. Kuzuhara will face alternate Stefan Kozlov, who stunned eleventh seed Alafia Ayeni 6-4, 6-3 in the first qualifying round match around a timeslot later. Knowing both players' potentials, this could be an entertaining battle of the former top juniors, which could boil down to their point construction and how they handled the pressure points. Could possibly be another ride as well to start the week with!

Another “fun fact” I’ve decided not to include in my main list cuz… yeah
In Japanese, Miu has many more vulgar nicknames for Shuichi, such as Saohara, Hamehara, Dasaihara, Munougahara, Shobohara, Kusaihara, and Kuzuhara.
Translations Below
Saohara (サオ原) - Rhymes with Saonara, which means fart.
Hamehara (ハメ原) - Having sex + hara
Dasaihara (ダサイ原) - Lame + hara
Munougahara (無能ヶ原) - Incompetent + hara
Shobohara (ショボ原) - Shabby + hara
Kusaihara (クサイ原) - Smelly + hara
Kuzuhara (クズ原) - Trash + hara

Durarara!!! Ovas and Bonus Episodes:
To put more context this post, I will have to explain the following.
Obviously most streaming services won't provide some seasons that have bonus episodes or OVA specials.
At times you have to go out and buy this separate DVD for it.
And Durarara is no exception for that.
I have searched for years for a box set to purchase the series. But at last, there's none not properly available.
So we have to rely on streaming services that contain the series. Despite the fact they only provide the main continuity. At one point, Crunchyroll had the first series.
Which includes the full 26 episodes as of a providers such as Netflix and Hulu only provide 24 episodes.
As the series X2 was broken down into 13 episode parts Shou being part one, Ten being part two and Ketsu being part three. Each one of these parts had an additional episode that didn't air on the streaming services but was still dubbed. Episodes in the Shou and Ten cour relates to events that happened within the series. As the last bonus episode that occurred in Ketsu cour was a standalone episode, that never affected the storyline other any major characters.
These are the episodes:
Durarara Episode 12.5:
It's summertime in Ikebukuro, as the Raira Trio, the Van Gang and Izaya Orihara dons summer clothing. They all tied into events with a smuggling ring and a crime syndicate. This episode shows the last appearance of Isaac and Miria from Baccano and shows early appearances of Haruya Shiki of the Awakusu and motorcycle cop Kinnosuke Kuzuhara.
Celty Sturluson and the Van Gang were discussing aliens and UFOS throughout the episode. As for Shizuo Heiwajima, it was just another day of beating up deadbeats and fools sic on him from Izaya Orihara.
Tumblr media
Durarara Episode 25:
This episode shows Yuhei Hanejima aka Kasuka Heiwajima reporting live from Ikebukuro to find a lovey dovey couple to put in his company's Jack O Lantern studios next movie. We see Yuhei interview multiple couples along such as Mika Harima and Seiji Yagiri with the final couple being Mikado Ryuugamine and Anri Sonohara. All while Simon was promoting Russia Sushi and the Van Gang was watching it's from Saburo's entertainment systems.
During the event, Shizuo Heiwajima watching over his brother from afar. As Kururi and Mairu Orihara was searching for Yuhei. Shizuo stopped the twins from disturbing the event along with a would be assailant by throwing a trash can at him.
Izaya then appears before Shizuo says that the assailant's ex was a hardcore fan of Yuhei Hanejima and Izaya antagonized him to go after Yuhei. Shizuo and Izaya battles it out as familiar faces reappear to attempt to snuff out Izaya and Shizuo. Those being the false Dollars from Episode 3, the deadbeat gamers and what remains of the Yellow Scarves.
Celty arrived on scene to subdue the chaos, as Shizuo chases after Izaya and gets hit by a truck, similar to their first encounter. As Celty was being chased by Kinnosuke Kuzuhara and other patrol officers.
In the end, Mikado Ryuugamine assists a new face who was flustered upon entering Ikebukuro and was planning to attend Raira Academy. He gave him directions and welcomes him to Ikebukuro.
Tumblr media
X2 Episode 4.5 Shou cour:
This episode ties into episode 4, which ends the Hollywood arc and continues on with the hot pot party at the Kishitani/Sturluson residence with their friends around them. Such as Mikado, Anri, Shizuo, Mika, Seiji and the Van Gang.
Each individual recalls stories of how they met each other.
Mikado told Anri about a story about him and Masaomi Kida, prior to him moving to Ikebukuro and dying his hair.
Anri tells Mikado about how she came to know Mika Harima with grade school and junior high.
Kyohei talks to Shizuo about how he met Tom Tanaka in junior high, which led him into the loan collecting business later on in the future and to dye his hair blonde.
Kyohei attempts to tell the story of how he met his friends, but Erika and Walker went overboard and Saburo was sobbing over an autograph of Ruri Hijiribe he discovered and Celty said that Shinra got it the other day. Trying to ease situation.
Kyohei talks with Shinra and ends up stopping him from calling Izaya Orihara to the party. Knowing that the apartment will become a warzone with Izaya and Shizuo.
The episode ends with Namie Yagiri leaving Izaya alone in his office to cook for himself.
Tumblr media
X2 Episode 0.5 Ten Cour:
This episode revolves around Celty Sturluson and Shinra Kishitani taking a day trip away from Ikebukuro. Not knowing what events that take place within that time period. As four separate events occurs that spread out to episodes one through four. As Shinra gets interrupted on the date by multiple phone calls.
All while within the mountainside where the couple takes a carriage ride. A film was being shot, involving werewolves, vampire priestesses and the grim reaper.
The grim reaper being played by Yuhei Hanejima aka Kasuka Heiwajima.
Celty ends up cosplaying in multiple outfits for Shinra. As he retells some stories about him, Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima.
All while the actors who played the werewolves were being frustrated, spread out in the forest. Celty stops her trusted steed Shooter. As she felt a strange presence nearby. Not knowing if it was another faerie like herself or a different supernatural being.
Their carriage ride was interrupted by one of the actors who was portraying a werewolf was chasing after them.
Later as the sun was setting, Celty and Shinra was startled by the of the actor portraying the werewolf who was just looking for a phone signal. The two groups scared each other, calling Celty and Shinra to run away with their carriage. Leading the actor to believe that his co-star was the one who was doing the special effects on Celty.
At the end of Episode 1, Celty and Shinra recalls the events that they had been through. Talking about their encounter the actresses who portrayed the vampire priestesses. Not knowing that the priestesses were part of a film set. And that's Yuhei Hanejima was involved.
Leaving Celty to wonder about the presence she felt.
Later that night, the werewolf actors were out of costume. Drinking beer and having a smoke. As the one who encountered and startled the Dullahan reacts to the sound of a wolf howling in the distance.

X2 Episode 7.5 Dufufufu OVA Ketsu cour:
This episode does not take place in any significant storyline. It's more of a standalone episode. About a man who was being mistaken for Shizuo Heiwajima of Ikebukuro. Man in fact was Shizuo Nobusuma, a man working as a bartender who scared off a couple of thugs that believed he was Heiwajima.
After researched about the urban legends of Ikebukuro. He went off and portrayed himself as Shizuo. Most people didn't buy his act, being spotted by his friends such as Celty Sturluson, Simon, Vorona and Tom Tanaka.
Izaya Orihara used it to his advantage by sending Nobusuma after some fakers pretending to be Awakusu.
Nobusuma after being beaten up, ends up hassling Kasuka and the real Shizuo Heiwajima who just returned from a memorial service. Shizuo one punch hits Nobusuma out of the city.
Later on, Izaya laughs about pitting the fakers against each other. As Namie Yagiri ruins his moment, mentioning that his information gathering rival Shinichi Tsukumoya photoshop his picture and applied him for a drag competition. Making Izaya outrage and Namie the one laughing.
The following day, Kyohei, Saburo, Erika and Walker were talking about the fake Shizuo and bootleg anime. Where Shizuo Nobusuma reappears pretending to be Kyohei Kadota and harassing Erika and Walker. Talking nonsense which led the Kadota to confront Nobusuma and knocking him out. Which led Erika and Walker to restrain Nobusuma in rope bondage and pull out their torture equipment.
Later on, Celty Sturluson was taking a break from work and was confronted by Nobusuma yet again. This time, he dressed up like her. Remembering him from dressing up as Shizuo Heiwajima a few days prior, she took pity on him and gave him some money. Knowing that the real Shizuo would send him into orbit. Never she knew you Nobusuma was alive and well, she hits him and demanded her money back.
Shizuo Nobusuma stops his act and went home afterwards.
Note: This episode is the first time that Shinichi Tsukumoya was mentioned by name. He reappears in the light novels as a member of the Dollars, supplying Mikado Ryuugamine with information as in his cleanup efforts within the Dollars.
Note 2: This episode takes place sometime after the Adabishi arc and the Kadota Coma arc. As Shinra Kishitani was still recovering from his injuries after the brutal assault by Kisuke Adabishi. Shinra is still stuck in the wheelchair.
Tumblr media
Despite these episodes being hard to find. Whether it's on streaming services for the very hard to find box sets. Durarara remains a great series to rewatch and enjoy to its fullest.
The next big topic on Durarara will be the spinoff novels that takes place after the series ended that involves Izaya Orihara.

Okay, two bigger thoughts out of the way, lets dump some random one-off thoughts from reviewing the FLCL Early Production material:
The whole thing, but in particular Yoji Enokido's initial episode concepts, made the "Naota is a kid pretending to be an adult" theme hilariously transparent and on-the-nose, he was dropping "grow up!" style lines on the reg. Very happy that was toned down.
Originally the CIA was going to be directly involved in opposing Haruko; really seeing the Twin Peaks influence here that Amarou was already bringing to the table!
Mamimi and Haruko both were a good deal more grounded in the initial notes; hell, in the initial concept Mamimi was still regularly talking to Naota's brother over the phone and was just lonely!
In the draft scripts the 'consequences' of Mamimi 'overflowing' is that she tries to fuck Naota; I didn't see that coming! He's 12 Mamimi.
"'I'll have it, y'know,' Mamimi threatens. 'I'll have your kid.'" HE IS TWELVE Mamimi, yikes.
The initial episode 2 script has Naota being revealed to be the bullet Canti shoots immediately - this is the biggest change to the "revised" episode 2 script second draft. Extremely critical change, honestly not sure what the story would have been if that wasn't an Episode 5 reveal.
We know this from interviews, but Draft-Atomsk was a boy that Haruko seemed to be in love with; absolutely one of the best changes they made was dropping that. Kuzuhara would never, Tsurumaki knew.
Repeating myself from discord, but most of the way through the production Naota's absent mom was also from space, and ostensibly was part of the same organization Haruko had fled from - a bit of a Watsonian justification for his fluency with N.O. fields. I don't think this was ever 'dropped', there just was never time in the final scripts.
Mamimi's final crisis point was originally Naota's brother breaking up with her over the phone.
The draft episode 6 final moment had Naota in possession of Haruko's handcuff bracelet, quivering towards the sky after she had left; very cute, and preserved in the ghostly guitar string pluck that actually ends the show.
Obviously more interesting stuff in there, but these are the most fun ones that stuck out to me.

Still thinking of this scene in Blade
Tumblr media
And because the timeframes of the novels line up, I lowkey want to write about Blade and Durarara happening concurrently because that's just a LOT of nonsense for Ikebukuro to go through in a relatively short amount of time
And also because Kuzuhara Kinnosuke WOULD give speeding tickets to Kamen Riders

Leshem had his chances somewhere in the beginning of the second set, but it was insufficient for him to step up in this match. In this case, after a service game hold, B. Kuzuhara's defense, which was also helped with slices, outhit Leshem until it caused a significant equalizer before the former broke to 2-1. B. Kuzuhara then consolidated to 3-1, and found himself another chance after landing a forehand down-the-line winner, but ended up doubling the break due to Leshem's erroneous service game.
In the sixth game, Leshem might have another set of break points, one of which was made out of B. Kuzuhara's unforced errors (or double fault). It was converted thanks to Leshem's backhand winner (4-2), but Leshem was unable to consolidate it as an error-ridden service game, which included a failed volley for the creation of B. Kuzuhara's break point, resulted in the latter breaking back again to 5-2, and despite several hurdles, he successfully served for the match to 6-2 in the seconf set.
