#kuukou: *hair does it naturally*

I've been thinking about this for a while now, but do you think if you poured water on Kuukou, would his hair go flat? Or does his hair defy all laws of physics and stays the same while Jyushi and Hitoya stand there like wet cats?

if you zoom in really really closely you’ll see that not even the force of a waterfall flattens that hair of his lol

Hi, Slug! Because I trust your opinions on these characters whole heartedly, I just wanted to ask: Which of the hypmic cast do you think knows how to swim and how well? (I'm asking for fanfic purposes)

This is one of those things I don't think the writers have ever thought about, so canonically, they can probably all swim. Swimming is a mandatory part of school curriculum in Japan, so Ramuda is the only one that I think could plausibly not know how to swim. In terms of ability...

Ichirou: He's a strong, athletic dude. I bet he did well in PE in school, even though he skipped some classes in his later years. He seems like he'd be a good swimmer.

Jirou: Ditto. Since he's good at athletics and otherwise coordinated, he's probably a strong swimmer.

Saburou: He isn't as physically active as his brothers, but I have no reason to think he might be a poor swimmer. However, I can definitely picture him using a kickboard still and Jirou teasing him for it.

Samatoki: I can picture Samatoki liking swimming, since it fits with the Yokohama/water image he enjoys. He probably goes to the pool occasionally.

Juuto: Work keeps him pretty busy, and in his moments of downtime, there are other things he seems to enjoy doing more. He probably can swim but doesn't practice much.

Riou: I would be shocked if this man could not outswim a polar bear.

Ramuda: Like I mentioned above, it wouldn't surprise me if Ramuda never learned. Realistically speaking, where would he have learned this from? However, the clones seem to know a lot of things for no particular reason, so this could just as easily be one of those things.

Gentarou: This question is moot, as Gentarou wouldn't disrobe enough to get into the water. It's not a matter of him being willing to or not, but rather that the fandom goes so off the rails whenever one of his appendages makes an appearance in an ARB card that Gentarou in swim trunks would cause an international crisis.

Dice: I get the impression that he swims like a fish.

Jakurai: He's athletic enough and spends enough time around water that he's probably a very strong swimmer.

Hifumi: Hmm... He might go to the public pool for fun or exercise occasionally. It doesn't seem like his go-to downtime activity, though. Still, like Jakurai, he spends enough time around water that he can probably swim decently.

Doppo: I can see Doppo being too busy and falling out of practice, but he does get knocked into a body of water (FP/M+ chapter 11) and doesn't have any issues with treading water, so he can swim decently enough.

Sasara: Since he doesn't like rainy days, I could potentially see him not being fond of water or being wet in general. May not be the best swimmer. He can canonically float, though. (DoD chapter 11)

Roshou: Roshou likes sports and so could probably swim decently.

Rei: He's swimming in money constantly, baby.

Kuukou: Kuukou does enough training in natural bodies of water such as waterfalls and mountain streams that he can likely swim well.

Juushi: You know how I said I could picture Jirou making fun of Saburou for using a kickboard? Doubly so for Kuukou and Juushi. Juushi seems like the type who'd cry before getting in the water. "Kuukou-san, the water level's too high! I'm scared!" he cries as the water is only up to his armpits (but up to Kuukou's chin.)

Hitoya: I don't think Hitoya would like swimming because it'd mess up his hair.

i tried to emulate red’s team for ichiro lol. the pachirisu on there is a nod to the team that won competitive champions with a pachirisu on the team but i think i’m going to change it to something on the pawmi evolution series because i love pawmi lmao

jiro’s team is a lot more cracked than i thought it was while putting them together lol. initially i wanted the bros to be fire, water, electric for their colours but you can’t tell me cinderace wasn’t made for jiro lmao

a handful of saburo’s pkmn have pkdx entries that mention prickly attitudes lol

the bros all have a rowlet evolution because bukuro!!!!!!

samatoki’s pkmn either have something to do with his name or general tragic vibe lol. his salamence is a rival pkmn to ichiro’s flygon and that incineroar is his fighter spirit

officer jenny in the anime had an arcanine so so does juto lol. the machop is his muscle he likes to bring along on missions (like rio) and the others represent his various interests. lopunny lol

bugs and tough mons were what i was going for for rio. i think i’m going to change aggron to bastiodon tho for its shield head 🤔

ramuda’s pkmn are either cute, unfortunate or both lmao. i went with type null but i did give ramuda a mewtwo at one point. it’s a legendary tho so i’m thinking of changing it 🤔

gentaro’s are all about his vibe really lol. tropius tho is there for his love of dinosaurs 🤗

dice’s pkmn are all primed for wild living lol. gyarados was a magikarp dice won from gambling and he fully intended to eat it lmao. aegislash is a remnant from the life he left behind

jakurai’s team i think needs a revisit 🤔 but for now, happini represents his renewed vow to heal/save and the others are graceful ass kickers lol. tentacruel is there because of his rhyme anima tentacles lol

idk if i still vibe with maractus for hifumi but it is there for its thorns. malamar is representive of his hypnosis ability

doppo’s pkmn are either lethargic like he is or not okay mentally lol. the petilil is for his botany hobby but i’ve been thinking about changing it to a succulent themed pkmn. like maractus for example lol

most of sasara’s pkmn have his eyes lmao. klefki is there because i think him having a bunch of copies of rosho’s house key is hilarious as it is very worrisome lol

i gave rosho a lot of baby pkmn due to his caretaker nature but that mightyena and pangoro are for his strife nature lol. and slowking is there for its intelligence like rosho’s intelligence 😌

for the life of me i cannot remember why i gave rei a dragonite so i’ll be rethinking this one fs lol. but his others suit his vibes and accomplishments lol (eg poipole is a pkmn not of this world and matches ramuda’s porygon) he’d have a ho-oh but i’m trying not to give anyone legendaries 😅

rosasa both have monkeys and the moms i find one for rei that ursaring is GONE lol

kuukou is a temple boy and therefore a ghost type trainer lowkey lol. his spiritomb i chose because it actually parallels his name and the medicham and darumaka are also for his buddhist spirit

his monkey parallels ichiro’s monkey but i’m thinking of finding a different breed of pkmn to play matchy matchy with since i want to give rei a monkey lol

oinkologne used to be emboar and i might change it back but for now, this pig matches jyushi’s aesthetic, like all his pkmn do lol

*cries* all of hitoya’s pkmn have his hair but i chose the wrong meowstic on his card i’m so sad lol!!!!!!! 😭😭😭 obstagoon is for that old rock soul of his and golurk is for his protective nature. i knew i wanted to give hitoya a quaxly the moment i saw it, the question is do i evolve it so it can match hitoya’s dancer spirit too lol

rainy season has landed in both japan and arb and everyone has lines dedicated to a very rainy day!!!:

ichiro doesn’t hate the rainy season but it’s hard working in the humidity. the rain can also hinder his work. but after the rain comes the sun!!!! he can’t wait for summer’s clear skies!!!! jiro can’t really play outside when it’s raining. it looks like ichiro is busy so his going to go bug saburo about the joys of anime lmao saburo wonders if he likes the smell of rain. he then shares with us that the scent of rain is called ‘petrichor,’ and the reason we smell it is due to aerosols released when rain and moisture in the air loosens the ground, which has been packed tight with absorbed oil from plants. saburo is next very flustered to have been caught with a charm he made to make the rain go away lmao it’s not he believes in the superstition!!! it’s just that ichiro thought it’d be nice to have one for clear skies in the future!!!! it’s only just in case okay??? lol

samatoki says to not let the rain get you all worn out and offers a pep talk lol and he also gripes about the rain and humidity is making all of his clothes cling onto him and it’s annoying af lmao juto actually doesn’t do so well with the humidity, he gets a little depressed during rainy season. he also complains that all the water on the ground would ruin his leather shoes. like, it’s great that he usually travels by car but he still has to get out of the car and out into wet weather 😓 rio comments that due to the rain, an enemies’ visuals will be weakened making it hard to track you but the same can be said for you as well; the rain can change the terrain and you can get caught in mud pits. it’s important to always be flexible with changes and to keep your senses open on the battlefield. he also says to not neglect your core while training since when it rains, the ground gets muddy and you don’t want to fall 😌

ramuda says since he’s stuck at home all day, might as well call dice and gentaro over and have a sweets party⭐️!!!! but he does like rainy days!!!! he likes to be able to work on fashion styles that match the weather ⭐️ gentaro asks if you would like to enjoy reading a book on a rainy day and also says there is nothing like taking a break from writing as you watch the water droplets trickle down on glass windows to the sound of rain fall. sounds like dice is going to be broke and isn’t going to have any shelter from the rain if he doesn’t play well today 😞 dice doesn’t like the rain; it feels as tho his luck has run dry on rainy days. matches are best experienced under clear and sunny skies!!!!

jakurai wishes for you to take care of yourself since the body can be susceptible to falling ill due to temperature drops and changes in atmospheric conditions. don’t overwork yourself either. and he also comments that it is a shame that the rainy season brings in so many sick people, but he likes the atmosphere rainy season brings. green is especially bright during this season 😌 host hifumi says he doesn’t hate the rain but it causes a lot of problems, such as making laundry hard to dry. malewife hifumi bemoans how all this rain really can bring a guy down!! like even doppo’s even more down in the dumps than usual…….. or is that really because of the rainy season and not just the usual??? and he laughs lol doppo tho really isn’t feeling so hot with all this rain and humidity and feeling like he’s becoming more negative than usual……… but is that because of the rain season?? he’s usually negative regardless of the rain…….. lol

sasara wishes that it was raining candy instead….. and then because this sasara: “feeling down because the rain’s coming down?? ignore the raindrops and cheer up with some candy drops!!” and then laughs at his own joke lol rosho laments that the sports clubs still have to practice out in the rain and hopes the rain will stops soon. he also complains it’s pretty difficult to dry his laundry on rainy days and hopes for his students that they won’t be bogged down by the inconveniences rain brings and that they will be able to wake up on time. rei says that on rainy days like this, it’s hard for him to move so he wonders if maybe he should hire a personal chauffeur for times like this………. and then says he’s just joking lol he’s still a very capable old man lmao rei also muses that regardless of rain or shine, people going about their day doesn’t really change

kuukou is disgruntled about being asked how long the rain is supposed to last and he sharply replies to just let nature run its course; the best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain. he also says super rainy days like this really makes him want to pray to the sun god. normal jyushi cries about how awful the stormy weather is for making a mess and ruining everything!!! vkei king jyushi gives a flowery description of how he doesn’t like the sound of rain………. and ugh!! his hair is a mess now too!!! hitoya may not hate the rain but he’s finding himself wondering how long the rain’s supposed to last. he also shares that jyushi accidentally dropped amanda in a puddle and came crying to him about it lol and grouches that she’ll be fine after a wash lol
