Do you think there has been any notable change in quality from Case Files to Adventures? (Positive or Negative)
It's difficult to compare because Case Files tries to start episodic while Adventures is one long-term plotline from the start. In a way, Adventures works better as a mystery because the seeds are planted since volume 1, while Case Files makes you work only with the contents of each arc even after Heartless is established.
Even then, Sanda's mystery quality is still inconsistent. Latio got a lot of screentime in volume one, but none of it touched what would later become the core of her character, aside from her feeling bothered by Tangere calling her "Miss", which is not really a fair hint that Sans Undertale is a copy of her brother. Volume 1 does treat her ancestor as the real Crudelis villain, which proves true, but the setup required for this twist leaves both characters devoid of meaningful characterization.
But then right next to it, we have Ziz, whose old hints click so neatly. Ergo is described since volume 1 as a product of Crudelis's obsession, Wuzhiqi's curiosity, and Ziz's hatred. But Ziz's action don't feel hateful when we see him. He does a theatrical dance to make Waver oppose the other two masterminds, he appears totally plastered and gambles with Akane for Typhon-analogue's vessel, he throws riddles at Waver and invites him to play the Casa, he has sex with random women in Monaco to make a family to secure his land. At every point, the supposed hatred-driven Ziz appears as someone who accomplishes his goals through pragmatic means made to superficially appear fun-loving. That, in itself, fells pragmatic in the way makes Ziz's personality recognizable to Van-Fem, maybe. I genuinely believe Ziz's outward laxness and gambler spirit are him emulating the man he genuinely was before the end of the Age of Gods made him hate the world.
The way this look back at Ziz's character makes him more consistent and interesting is something you can't really do much with the characters resolved by Case Files, except maybe the Adashino siblings, which are not characters I care much about (although I'd probably feel a lot more positive about Heartless and Faker rereading Grand Roll now that I'm resigned to the fact Sanda will never keep Iskandar away from plot instead of heatedly rejecting it like the first time).

The wayward figure lets out a slight sigh before perking up to being spoken to, his violet gaze looked at the stranger before replying.
“A Wanderer such as myself doesn’t really have a true home to call their own and with the difference in scenery, yes, you could say I am lost as this place doesn’t look like what I’m usually used to.
Fate is sometimes strange and works in mysterious ways you could say, must be a reason for us to meet one another like this.”
The Wanderer spoke before noticing their next set of words, he then spoke more.
“My name? Although, I don’t have a true name to call my own, I do have one that I can respond to and that is "Fujin” so you may call me that if you wish. Now, what might your name be?“
“Fujin, that is the name of a Far Eastern deity who governs the wind.”
The mage tuts as he utters this bit of knowledge in response. “As for me well I had a name before. Though the man that bore that name has been dead for quite some time.” Kurou Adashino had died the moment he fell down a hole to the Reverse Side of the World, pushed in by his own students. Crimson eyes focused on the skies as he spoke calmly.
“They call me Heartless. And it’s not just figurative either.”
He quite literally lacked a heart. It was taken by the Fae he had encountered while trapped in their domain, the Land of Faeries, on that ill-fated day. The more physical evidence of his time spent in that place was his vivid red hair. Even his eyes and their power had changed, a blazing scarlet to match unnaturally red hair.
He was not entirely human despite what first impressions may say of him. An unflinching smile appears on his face once more as he bows with a slight chuckle.
“Pleasure to meet you.”

Really appreciate the animosity in his expression in the 3rd to last panel. The only other time he's made that face was when Reines was making her nasty joke lol
Some of Waver's exhausted and sternly angry confrontational expressions from this chapter of Case Files' manga
+ bonus quail
#also interesting to me only: dr. heartless's name is technically in that second image as a pun#since he is adashino kurou#and Waver's saying 'kurou dokoro janakattazo' here kurou means hardship lol#Hee Hee Hee

Bringing a sharp fragment of past &. expose it to the fragile fleshes of the present is a delicate task, for its shape frames beyond the fields of tangibility &. its edges can cut from anywhere. An element so unstable can only be ( manipulated ) by a dainty hand &. treated by a cautious mouth.
The Servant has NOT forgiven the impact such questions from a persevering detective shot at her direction have caused on her, as if he would lack of any caution in making them— although the intentions could have implied to not be harmful &. the simple thirst of knowledge for the sake of solving a mystery would have act beyond his capacity of thought. Or possibly, a stratagem could silently lie behind this peculiar way to having become a living obstacle for her Master &. she herself. Which means, that some topics are better if they remain locked under the bold layers of SILENCE.
…&. still, sometimes it doesn’t matter what it’s prompted in a hoard of enquires— but where do those words come from. What is the voice —&. the mind who serves as a guidance, but also commands them towards a safer path.
║🍇║↬ ——❝Certainly…❞ A passing murmur attempts to camouflage with the rushing wind, but failing. What stays inside her mind would for now stay stuck in there, caged in the depths of her thoughts.
Nonetheless, having witnessed the Doctor’s lack of fear, his never ending perseverance &. his calm demeanor at the moment to confront the obstacles after them… he somehow reminded her of ( him ). That blazing sun which embraced the ocean with its blinding light, unable to visualize an ending, or the lack of it as well. She wonders— if all this time, this image was printed on his mind. If he was aware of their tragic ending while the threads of destiny were sewing their story.
║🍇║↬ ——❝…With that said… if I may ask.
Have you considered the consequences of your actions, Master ? Have you seen yourself ending up like this ?❞
He breathes in as she asked her questions that sullen look upon his face never leaving. “I never thought I’d be like this, wounded and hurting, to the point I’d rather see this world in ruins than to allow myself to be hurt again.” he replied, strained and agonized. “There will never be a way to go back. After all the man I used to be is dead.”
He’s dead, and it’s all their fault.
He could never go back to being Kurou Adashino and it hurt how much he trusted them just to be left for dead. His fury boiled in his veins his very being as he recalled his agony. Tears following freely he kept a hand to where his heart should’ve been.
“Ah, will you look at that? Here I thought my tears dried out for good.” He laughed trying to hide his pain from her as he used to.
