wow! I feel gross! and sad!

this chapter has left me quite perturbed, but for once it is not in reaction to Yana's humor or her decisions on portraying children. I think this is an appropriate and warranted reaction to seeing so many children being... what's worse? groomed, or harvested?

I do like seeing Finny get serious cause I just love seeing emotions, that's just me. but of course I'm still left very afraid if our local sun child is so on edge.

and the way that snake doesn't understand why Finny is so unnerved. hhhhhHHH this is gonna HURT ME.

and then of course there's the child exploitation. it appears to me that they're being trained to replace everyone in the phantomhive manor(more simular to the previous staff), for the most part.

I'm just gonna admit it though, I don't understand why they need... so many. do the souls/bodies need to be replaced regularly, and these are all back ups? I would understand that for the Ciel doubles, but what are the rest of them for. so many child servants??

the dark place my brain went to is that the undertaker basically plans to immortalize the phantomhive manor- or what it once was- by replacing everyone with these bodies and souls, from an orphanage that gives him a constant supply. my God. probably not the case eh?

and this hurts me too.

it seems that no matter what, Doll will always be stuck in the position of leading people to their doom(in the circus she was[allegedly, i forgot if she ever stopped hesitating] killing people on the side, and here she's raising these kids so that their souls can probably be replaced). it's just awful.

plus the way that she is taking charge here, almost undoubtedly aware of the deeper plan, that's just very grim. it seems that there won't be any happy ending for this character. it's a good think Yana sprinkles humor in there cause we need it.

also, about Finny and Snake recognizing everything. after seeing everyone in costume preparing for their future role play, it now makes most sense that these rooms were made to resemble the phantomhive manor. what I don't understand is... why don't finny and snake just say that, if that is indeed the reason why the rooms look familiar?

I mean for snake, sure, maybe it'll take him a moment. but the phantomhive manor was practically the only home Finny had, so I feel like if the rooms were so simular then Finny should pick up on that instantly: something like "this looks like the tea room from the manor...!!!" so why are we not already at this conclusion? is Yana writing Finny to be stupid so he doesn't connect the dots for the sake of suspense? does she think we're stupid and haven't already noticed the similarities? I doubt either is true. so maybe I'm just over thinking it, dunno

yea this may be the worst(affectionate, I do hope) mini arc yet 👁,👁,

especially since I'm pretty sure Snake is thinking that Doll doesn't know what Ciel knew, that the rest of the circus arc was kidnapping children, and that they left her to continue doing that. and he doesn't know how to tell her. probably.

either way, 3 way deception. nice :] we should start betting on who breaks the news first

anyways, we all know by now that doll/freckles is... here, finnian now knows that snake was apart of the circus with doll/freckles and shits gonna get hectic from here guarantee, but this image in particular....

this young boy in particular, looks very similar to r!ciel..... he is also reading a book called "Fenian Cycle." this is the same book that vincent is seen reading in volume 26's chapter 132.

I agree that R!ciel has no real power here, but I don't think he's opposed to all of those pomeranian class kids either.

Because, lets say that the plan is to bring O!ciel back to the manor and replace his soul current soul with a new one, because Sebastian already has claim on that one. so far, I think it's supported that the souls are not linked to the memories in the brain, so even if a soul is replaced, it stays about the same person(except for the modifications the Undertaker will make, but that doesn't matter, he's making them into a ~better version of themselves~😒).

so at the end of the day, if the pomeranian class kids are not being used for their physical bodies, but rather just so that their souls can be taken and put into O!ciels body, changing his records to make him want to stay with R!ciel... yea R!ciel would love that.

basically, I don't believe the undertaker is trying to make multiple brother, but rather just keep the 2.

Ok but remember r!ciel was like "I dont need fake brothers " so he might not like this thing of making multiple o!ciels :(

That’s an interesting observation, and one I neglected to consider amid all the recent excitement. 😅 I could see how he might reject the Pomeranians as poor imitations. However, at the end of the day, R!Ciel is effectively at Undertaker’s mercy. The aged reaper is the person who resurrected him in the first place and continues to serve as his caretaker. Due to the dictates of his bizarre doll physiology, R!Ciel is also dependent on constant blood transfusions to remain functional. Despite being the rightful earl, he doesn’t exactly hold the reins of power in this relationship. If Undertaker’s hellbent on carrying out these activities at the orphanage, R!Ciel’s ability to put a halt to the operation is probably limited, even if he wanted to.

As Yana hammers home in illustrations like the panels below, R!Ciel is (at least to an extent) merely a glorified marionette dancing on another person’s strings.

Looks familiar...?

Several times while wandering through the F.O.L. Orphanage Finny has the feeling that he has seen the building and the rooms within it somewhere before.

And he’s right. Parts of the orphanage look very similar to rooms in the Phantomhive Manor. Here are some examples (left: Phantomhive Manor; right: F.O.L. Orphanage):

There’s the big staircase at the entrance...

...the reception room...

...or the servants’ room:

Looks like someone modeled the orphanage after Phantomhive Manor.

And it’s not just the looks. The children in the orphanage are being taught to act like servants and to manage a household like a manor...

...and then there are children whose teachings (and way of dressing) are very similar to the Phantomhive twins’ education and tastes.

It kinda seems as if the orphanage is trying to recreate the twins. The focus on games...

...even the preference of certain tastes (which is something the “aptitude test” is asking about)...

...that they get their own room (which again looks familiar) when they turn ten (a very important date in the twins’ lives).

All these similarities to the twins are kinda eerie and too much to be a coincidence. I wonder what’s the purpose of that...

If this is Undertaker’s doing, I’d say this is very evil and cruel. Imagine taking out the characteristics that comprise Ciel, his surroundings and the people around him and make it a joke just to make him lose his mind. Building a replica of the manor, educating children that are similar to the Phantomhive servants, to cloning Ciels. If the former reaper really cared for the Phantomhives as he claimed to be then something is really wrong in the picture. Somehow my head canon (or the collective head canon) that he’s related to the family is crumbling. You’d do this to exact revenge on someone you really despise not to salvage your family. But yes, he’s learned to be spiteful throughout the centuries.

Or is it Ciel’s older twin brother’s plan all along, an army of himself?

Can I just say how yikes this orphanage makes me feel? At first I thought the classes might be based on blood type, but it looks like the kids are being trained (dare I say groomed?) into being future servants and pets of the uber rich.

Wonder if Doll is still alive or has been made into a doll by Undertaker. Considering Snake has been kept in the dark all this time, her revealing the truth of what happened to the circus could mean he'll be the first servant to seriously consider going against Ciel.
