I has initially planned on making Maki as Undyne, but I didn’t want to turn Alphyne straight by making it Yutamaki and I feel Nobara isn’t a good fit for Alphys. So instead you have my rarepair lol, Kuroi and Yuki! There is some Riko lore here where she turns into an amalgam

Uhh Frisk!Yuuji has two ghosts haunting him in this which are like the equivalent to Chara; the first soul of determination (Sukuna) and the Chara we know canonically as Asriel’s best friend/sibling (Tsumiki)

I felt MTT really fit Nobara’s canon storyline of wanting to get away from the countryside, and she does have a childhood friend from there Fumi who I turned into Napstablook.

Stsg as Asgore and Toriel, and since this is somewhat of a happy ending/True Pacifist AU I feel they would end up back together again after time. The whole killing all humans in revenge of his children seemed very Geto, so ofc I had to make Toriel Gojo.

Sunita's Slime Form:

Text: Sunita is a slime Yokai that spread her influence to the overworld after the Foot targeted her for her pieces of the Kuroi Yōroi. After finding a friend in April, they graduated together and got married. Sunita kidnapped Casey Jr to safety when April's resignation with the Komodo Dragon Dojo got nasty, determined to keep him safe. Despite not needing the money due to her family, she worked as a banker in Manhattan as she liked meeting so many different humans.

Kendra and Donnie started as rivals with the same talents and the same goal, drawing them close for their teen years. As they grew older and their fights more extreme, hormones took over and they started a romantic relationship. Kendra was and is not allowed near Shelldon. Within their brief fling, she also slept with Jason, who she later married and divorced. Once Donnie died, her spark for the criminal craft grew dim, and she gave up the helm of the Purple Dragons. She's taken on petty theft and IT jobs in the years since.

Liminal Space

A ROTTMNT Experimental AU Masterpost

Based off the 2003 TMNT episode Same as it Never Was, Liminal Space is a ROTTMNT AU meant to twist the central plot of the original. It asks: what if instead of Donatello traveling to distant dystopian future scarred by his absence, it was his brothers that were sent in his place.

Now twenty plus years into the future, Leo, Mikey and Raph must navigate through a whole new world occupied with familiar yet different faces. They’ll come to learn that during their absence, war broke out between yokai and humans with mutants simply caught in the middle. And though it’s been years since the war has ceased, the world is still working to heal from it’s fallout. 

Peace was established but tensions are high, taking the combined strength of a mysterious power hierarchy to keep it all civil.

Surprisingly, it isn’t the foot clan that’s up to anything foolish, though, why is someone running around in armor that bears distinct similarities to the Kuroi Yoroi? 

And what’s all this talk of multiple universes and bifurcated time branches?

Leo’s worried about getting back to the past. Raph’s focused on “fixing” this dreary future. And Mikey just hopes they’ll make it through all this alive.  

... Except we’re not just following their story ...

Now faced with the reality that his brothers have disappeared with no real method of getting them back, present timeline Donatello must overcome hardships and obstacles that threaten his home, friends and family. 

He’ll have to make new allies amongst faces that have yet to appear in the ROTTMNT universe, if he hopes to survive with his sanity intact. 

At the end of the day, though his brothers are not there to help him, he is not alone.

Additional info:

- This takes place two years after the movie so the brothers are aged 17,18 and 19 respectively.

- As mentioned, this is an experimental AU which means I’m moreso using it to learn and experiment with my art style than to create a cohesive story. Maybe something resembling one will come through with enough time and posts. *shrugs* But my main concern is having fun with worldbuilding and learning about techniques used for comics and maybe animatics. 

- Feel free to ask me questions, I’m gonna be pretty generous on answers. I’ll place a general *SPOILERS* warning on top of my posts should it feel necessary. 

Plot:

The plot is going to be divided in two different story lines respectively called Cause and Effect.

Murphy’s Law (How’d we get here?)

The obligatory set-up to the whole story which can be found here. 

Cause largely goes over how present Donatello had to deal with his brothers being otherwise preoccupied as the relation between humanity and mysticism reach boiling point.

Effect is primarily from Leo, Mikey and Raph’s point of view in the future. I don’t plan to actually post these details in a chronological order so I’m just warning you all this now and hence the Effect Arc is absolutely going to have spoilers from the Cause Arc. 

Honestly, I’m hoping to focus on funny moments for this portion of the story. An overarching plot is in the works but shenanigans is the prime goal.

Well, I’m going to guess a library is involved in the episode. And it’s going to be in the Hidden City somewhere.

So the question is: Why are the turtles going there? Maybe to get some info on mutants and youkai. Or someone tells them that they can find more info on the Kuroi Yoroi there.

Or it’s all just shenanigans and happenstance that they find themselves in a library.

Honestly, it could be any of those.

Summary I guess: Mato Kuroi is a junior high schooler who just wants to have fun and make friends. She meets Yomi Takanashi, a shy girl who wants nothing to do with her. Until she notices Mato’s phone charm, a blue bird from the book “The Little Bird and Many Many Colors”. (Some subs have different translations). The two bond of the interest, and become good friends. In a parallel universe, the girls are different beings, Mato being Black★Rock Shooter, and Yomi being Dead Master. Whatever happens in that world has an equivalent happen in our world. The girls are unaware of this and become entwined with the threads of fate. 

Story: 10/10 - The amount of times I cried at this show amazes me. I cried a lot, and I really like shows where I cry. I cried more than I did for A Silent Voice, which is saying a lot. I feel like the parallel universe thing made a very big impact on the story, in a good way. I really don’t want to spoil much because I wish more people would watch this. Just know, to me at least, the story really impacted my view on the topics of emotions, abuse, and my own trauma. The parallel universe thing also helped me gain a new perspective on the world, which I really needed at the time.

Characters: 10/10 - Mato is literally me. She was literally me when I was going through the darkest years of my life. Like I said, the parallel universe girls are such good representations of experiences and life. I liked most of the characters, even Saya, and I think she sucks. I didn’t like Kagari though, as she’s WAY too similar to someone who abused me.

Art: 10/10 - Y’all know how much I LOVE 3D that looks like 2D. I’m pretty sure the parallel universe sequences are 3D, but I might be wrong. The art style is so cute, and I like how it kind of changes between the universes. 

Sound: 10/10 - the voice acting is very good. I can FEEL the characters emotions through their voice and it’s awesome. The music, though. Don’t get me started on the music. The BGM is so good, but the opening. I love the opening song. I love ryo/supercell anyways, but it’s so good!!

Overall: 10/10 - If you wanna be an emotional wreck after watching an anime just watch this. It’s genuinely so good. I know this review was pretty vague but I want as many people as possible to just experience this for themselves

TRIVIA: The protagonist is only referred to as “the pierced boy” (Japanese)/”boy with earring” (English) within the games themselves; in the manga he is Naoya Todo, in the drama CD he is Yuya Narumi, and in the novel he is Jihei Suzakurin. Along with Maki, the protagonist makes a minor appearance in Persona 2, while Eriko, Kei, and Yukino return in P2 as playable characters once again.

TRIVIA: SMT If… was released only in Japan and is considered the originator of the Persona series. The series features a protagonist whose gender is decided by the player, something not seen again until P3P, though the female protagonist is canon in the games and the male protagonist is canon in the manga. Tamaki makes a cameo appearance in P1 and P2. The male protagonist is called Nobu Akiyama in both the manga and its sequel and Jin Aoki in the novel.
