So, how tall is Marion and Melkor? How about the others. Im curious. Cause i was looking at things recently and found out Tolkien made his humans like, 6 to 7 feet tall and now i keep thinking about all their heights. (And that im closer in height to Gimli than to the other humans on the team cause everyone is giant ;_;)
TL;DR Mairon=210-230, Melkor=280 Made a chart for the heights of all the races in my HC and few random characters(ft on the left is not very accurate).
Basically in my HC everyone is smaller than what most people might think. I personally can't imagine humanoid shapes to be any taller than 240cm/8ft, maybe 300cm/10ft if I stretch my mental limit.
But I always wanted to clear out who's how tall blah blah from canon a bit so one sunny day I went through a bunch of canon information I could find online about heights in ME. Found out that there are these MiddleEarth unit called "ranga/r".
1 ranga: a stride, hobbits are 1 ranga(half of men) 2 rangar: average Numenorean male height, also Galadriel 2.5 rangar: Elendil
Although in canon 1 ranga = 38inch | 3'2" | 96.5cm, I took a bit of liberty in this and altered 1 ranga to be around 35.4-36.4inch | 90-92.5cm as I tend to like everyone(including Melkor) to be shorter than 10' | 3m.
Also, here's the link to my thoughts from 2018, written in 2023. Everyone is even more shorter than the above chart but it's only really the ainur and elves that are nerfed down. Thingol and Elendil are too tall
There's probably tonnes of contradiction every where but this is just my vague HC.

for some reason my reply won't stay on the original post so i'll reply here (bc that's a good remark)
@kuro-tsuki-san dating/courting is ok of course, bc you have to know the person before engaging in a more serious committed relationships. ANY sexual intercourse/making up is legit energy transfer that will last onto your Spirit even after breakup and that's a baggage I want to avoid from a potential partner. any man dedicated to date/marry me should do a 40 days fast in the desert to purge himself from this wicked spiritual baggage btw

Also i am slightly afraid people will take Dream not saying much as some sort of guilt and not as his lawyer or pr person (if he has ether, sounds like he does) telling him he should not say stuff that hasn't been reviewed beforehand/to shut up while they handle it.
Now, admittedly, I literally refuse to enter the twitter landscape outside of investigating reported information, but honestly from what I've seen at least on reddit and elsewhere, they've actually taken it to mean the opposite. Amanda kinda did a lot of harm to her case/the public perception of her credibility (even if it could be an understandable response to stress, it is unhelpful and new claims/stating she had evidence and then admitting she didn't brought a lot of public doubt. Some people have begun no longer trusting her claims at all. I personally don't think that's fair, and that she still absolutely deserves to be heard, treated with respect, and be allowed the same chance to provide evidence as anyone else. However, I do understand why people may have begun to mistrust her or given her claims less weight).
Dream, by remaining quiet outside of his one statement, effectively didn't give people any bait or anything to work with outside of his one response. This gave people a chance to calm down, look at what's been presented, and come to terms with the fact we don't currently have answers and we might not for awhile yet. If he is really taking legal action, then the wait is understandable, and from what I've seen, most people have seen remaining quiet at the smart choice.
Kersplusion on r/dreamwastaken 2 has actually been running polls every so often, which, while absolutely not perfect (they changed question wording, utterly belothed) and certainly going to have biases, do reveal an interesting trend, given that roughly the same number of users have been polled and we can assume that it's going to at least roughly the same population of users over time.
The first poll they posted was right after Dream posted his response (late friday), it got 860 responses and the numbers worked out like this;
Yes, some of it is fake and he’s taking legal action 30.70%
No, it’s real. And they will silence victims 8.72%
I don’t think he’s committed a crime anyways 16.40%
I’m still processing 44.19%
The second poll they ran was on Saturday, in the midst of a lot of the twitter storm, and had 958 responses that broke down like this;
The sexting is fake 15.34%
The sexting is real 5.64%
No crime was committed 22.03%
I’m still processing/waiting 56.99%
In that roughly one day period, nearly 3% of people who thought the incident was real dropped off. 15% of people switched (likely because "some of it is fake" was changed into "the sexting is fake") into either "No crime was committed" or "Still waiting". Which leads to our final (still ongoing atm but at 854 responses at the time of posting) poll, done today (monday).
The alleged sexting was real, Dream is guilty 3.75%
The alleged sexting was fake, Dream is innocent 21.66%
No crime was committed 21.90%
I’m still waiting 52.69%
Since Saturday, the number of people who believe the sexting was real has sharply dipped to just 3.75%. The number of people waiting has dipped by about 4%, and the number of people who think the sexting is fake is up by a little over 6%.
Now, again, these numbers aren't perfect by any means. The wording of questions changed, and plenty of biases in the way the questions were written. But I do think that it reveals a very interesting trend. Despite Dream having only made one statement on the matter, the number of people who think he's guilty has been steadily dropping. Whether this is because of external factors or not, it is still revealing that apparently, "shut up and go talk to a lawyer" has (within the limitations of these polls), been an effective public opinion management strategy compared to the alternative.
Now, again, I will restate my own personal belief that I am firmly in the waiting category. I don't think we have enough evidence to make a call one way or another. I want all parties treated with respect, and to be given a chance to make their case in a more rational setting. I just wanted to offer this data up because I did find the trends interesting. I also think that it will help offer assurance, that no, at least within this polled population, people do not appear to be assuming that silence is guilt.
#sif answers#kuro-tsuki-san#dream discourse#discourse#data#sif speaks#Also I think this data helps advocate for my point that shutting up and getting a lawyer is always a good idea

I'm curious, what are your thoughts on secondhand store wool and leather? I mostly get the problems with new ones but I also really hate the idea of things going in a dump when they still have use.
Thank you for your question! I’m happy to answer it.
I personally wouldn’t buy leather or wool secondhand, because animal skin (in the case of leather) being on my own skin would feel deeply disturbing, and alternatives such as cotton are more accessible to me. And I rarely if ever see wool. Maybe because I grew up in a desert, but fur and wool have never been a staple or even a rarity in my life.
But if you're comfortable with secondhand animal products, then it's better to get it there than buy it new at a store. The damage is already done. Wool you could probably find at a secondhand shop, but actual genuine 100% leather is rarer than you think, at least in something as big as a jacket. A lot of leather clothing made today is leather alternative. It's cheaper, more accessible, and much more environmentally safer than animal skin.
That's my short, concise answer. My long answer, which gets into ethics and the social movement of animal liberation, is this: the goal is for there to someday be a time when animal products are no longer seen as a commodity, and are seen as part of the animal they came from, and therefore shouldn't be used for profit and exploitation. We would look at something like a leather jacket and see it for what it is: stripped skin from an animal that lived in cramped, unnatural conditions and died in terror.
Wool is sheared from an animal who was kept in "efficient" conditions, treated as cogs in a machine rather than living beings (shearers are paid per sheep, not per hour, encouraging them to go faster which results in wounding the animals), and will eventually be loaded onto a truck (or more often a ship to spend weeks at sea dehydrated and hungry with thousands of other animals), to then be sent to a slaughterhouse before getting to experience anything remotely close to the natural life of a sheep.
I know not everyone sees the world that way, but that is what leather and wool are, without the marketing and the nostalgia attached. I don't view secondhand wool and leather as something “wasted” if it goes to the dump. I see it as already have been wasted, because it was stolen and ripped and butchered from an animal that didn't want to live and die that way.
So in my head, the question isn't "can I buy these items from a second hand store?" I hope the question can someday be "why do we as a society think it's acceptable to treat living beings this way?"

Khamul helping Angmar with his penmanship? Voluntary or forced.
I wrote this one from Khamul’s POV because while it would be hilarious to write from Angmar’s perspective, it would also ruin why he can’t write well. Which, theoretically this does not touch on, but I guess if folks it I could make a part II
The Wrong Way to Write
“You are holding it wrong.”
There’s a look that crosses Angmar’s face, like he’s debating reaching over the table to strike him. It’s the same look that reminds Khamul why he had elected to sit across from Angmar rather than next to him. Sitting across from him makes it useless to actually read what he is writing, but very useful for making sure Angmar doesn’t elbow his stomach whenever he speaks.
Honestly, Khamul is surprised Angmar has not flung the inkwell at him yet. He usually doesn’t display this much restraint.
“You are holding it wrong,” Khamul repeats, resting his cheek against his hand as his elbow props against the side of the table, when Angmar does not respond within a few moments. Bored his body language says, because this is as much a punishment for him as it is for Angmar. Tired his half-closed says because it is the afternoon now, and even without the sun beating down on him directly he still feels lethargic.
“I am holding it fine,” Angmar growls softly, keeping his eyes focused on the parchment before him as if even looking up at Khamul will somehow give his words some truth. That by somehow not looking at him, he ceases to exist and his criticisms do not matter.
Or, perhaps, looking up at him make Angmar lose what little power he has over his temper, and flip the entire table over.
He had only agreed to this entire affair anyway because Angmar had not given him much of a choice. He’d thrown the door open to Khamul’s chambers, grabbed him by the foot and dragged him both out of a dead sleep and into the hallway with little context and fewer niceties.
I want to sleep, Khamul thinks to himself, leaning more heavily against his hand until it feels like it is the only thing supporting his head, letting his shoulders slouch slightly as his other arm drapes across the table in front of him.
“You are holding it wrong,” He says instead.
“You aren’t even looking!” Angmar practically snarls, and Khamul blinks his eyes back open wearily to find Angmar staring at him from across the table, fingers wrapped so tightly around the quill that his knuckles are blanching, his cheeks flushed red with anger.
Huh.
When had he closed his eyes?
“You haven’t been holding it right this entire time, you’re hardly going to improve so miraculously,” Khamul murmurs, undeterred, but does glance down at Angmar’s hand very pointedly before looking up at his face once more. “You are holding it wrong,” Khamul repeats, slower because his tongue is not working right with his fatigue, louder because Angmar is giving him a headache.
His eyes slip closed…
Khamul stumbles abruptly, chin nearly slipping out of his own hand when something knocks against the arm supporting his head. He nearly knocks his nose against the table as gravity suddenly seizes him, nearly falls out of his chair entirely in his surprise, but somehow manages to catch himself at the last moment. He’s left startled, very much awake and-
“Fine,” Angmar huffs, and Khamul is struck with surprise. Not that Angmar had actually hit him, but that somehow it wasn’t even that hard of a blow. Then, his eyes catch sight of Angmar’s fist, still suspended just before him, and the quill clutched between his fingers. “Show me.”
Khamul squints at him wearily, but sighs and holds out a hand. The quill is dropped into his palm and Angmar retreats back to his own chair, sitting slouched back with his arms crossed over his chest. Watching.
Khamul reaches out, snagging ahold of the corner of the parchment and flipping it around towards himself. He catches sight of Angmar’s attempt at handwriting and his lips quirk up slightly before he sighs and flips the paper over, to the new side. There is no point in making fun of him, or he might get hit with the intention to actually harm. No, instead he merely adjusts the quill in his grip, dips it into the inkwell, and sets his hand upon the page.
“Your grip is the first thing we need to address,” He remarks carefully as he writes, delicately, neatly, a perfect mirror of how he was taught years ago. It is easier to recall the exact words of his tutor since he learned to write not as a child, but as an adult. “You want to be comfortable, or you will not be able to write for long periods of time.”
“My grip is comfortable.”
“You hold it so tightly that your knuckles are white,” Khamul retorts, and Angmar huffs and looks away. Khamul shakes his head, then removes the quill from the parchment, cleans it carefully so it does not drip, and holds it up in front of him. Makes a show of holding the quill with his left hand by the top of the feather, then carefully wraps his fingers around it until they fall into place. Slowly, so Angmar can see the way his thumb and pointer finger lay upon the surface of the quill. “Like this. It isn’t a sword.”
Angmar squints at him, then looks down at his hand, trying to repeat the motion. After a moment Khamul passes the quill back, and near instantly Angmar settles into his old, uncomfortable grip. There is a pause where he almost adjusts, almost slips into the proper technique Khamul showed him. But then he resumes holding the quill tightly in a balled fist, lowers the quill back towards the side of the parchment closest to him as if to write. Khamul quickly reaches out, snagging the side of the parchment and yanking it from the table before Angmar can write anything further with his botched form.
“You are holding it wrong,” He repeats and Angmar scowls, staring at the quill briefly before meeting Khamul’s gaze again. He pulls the quill back towards his chest almost protectively, but does not adjust his grip.
“It feels worse to hold it like that,” Angmar mumbles, and Khamul snorts, rolling his eyes. Of course, it is not easy to break a bad habit. “You must practice to get used to it,” He says instead, trying to be patient. It’s difficult given how tired he is. There’s an edge to his voice from fatigue that he either can’t, or does not care to shake away completely.
“I like my way better.”
“It is not your way, it is the wrong way.”
“What does it matter if I can write?”
“But you cannot write,” Khamul retorts, eyes narrowing, crossing his own arms upon the table and leaning towards Angmar. “That is why we are here, after all. You cannot write, and our lord has decided to punish you for something that you have done, not by actually punishing you, but by forcing you to learn something you should have already known how to do.” The parchment slams down on the table, and Khamul realizes a moment later it is because he has slammed his hand upon the wood in between them. “You were raised as a King,” He hears himself say, voice so low it is almost a hiss as he points an accusatory finger towards him. “How do you not know how to do this?” Angmar’s face has gone completely red now, Khamul notes even as he falls back against the back of the chair, letting the parchment lay between them. He does not want to be here. He does not want to be here and the only reason he is here is because he is being forced by another. Just like before. Somehow, again, Angmar has managed to restrain himself. Perhaps it is because some part of him recognizes that he needs Khamul’s assistance or he’ll never get better at this.
Khamul looks to the side as Angmar reaches out and jerks the paper back towards him, and holds the quill the same way he always does.
…
…
Scratch, scratch.
“You are holding it wrong.”
The quill snaps in half.
Khamul glances back towards Angmar’s hand, which is balled into a fist, quill where it lays split in two on the desk.
Ugh.
This is not worth the missed sleep.
“Well,” Khamul drawls as slides from his chair and slowly stands. “I’ll be returning to bed.” There is nothing he can do to teach Angmar when the quill is in two pieces, after all. He walks towards the door and pulls it open, starts to walk through it when he hesitates. Standing half in, half out of the room he glances back where Angmar still sits, staring at the table.
“If you want my help again, at least bother to come prepared to change. I won’t help otherwise.”
There’s an offer in there, if Angmar cares to look deep enough.
“I will help you if you ask it of me.”
Angmar does not move.
Khamul leaves.

How are you and the kitten?
Me, I’m rather anxious due to various reasons as implied and dealing with a sense of “depersonalization”, or something similar. Feeling disconnected kinda...
The kitten’s doing fine so far I think. It’s the third day today. Got acquainted with the flat quite quickly; not a shy type definitely. Even climbs on me ^^ Purrs like an engine and is playful. I do feel kinda bad though that my parents chose to only take in one kitten - the recommendation is always to get two kittens so that they have each other to play with and keep them from getting bored. A little worried about this aspect, though I bought a few toys to accommodate the tiny hunter X)
Thank you for asking :)
